augustus, or as he prefers, gus, is not what most people would call conventionally attractive, but he has a different kind of appeal to him with his slicked back, dirty blond hair and his brown eyes that seem so dark they could almost be black. his skin is fair, and almost pale, and he has a somewhat lanky figure. he tends to tower over most people, standing at a height of 6'2, and though he may not look like he has a lot of muscle, this is a wrong assumption to make. it just isn't always visible due to the baggy clothes he wears.

neptune : the roman god of the sea, earthquakes, hurricanes and horses.

→ hydrokinesis : the ability to shape and manipulate water. gus can control existing forms of water, moving it according to his will with a lot of concentration. this includes making pipes burst, increasing the current of a flowing body of water, and, in some cases, water can provide healing for him, or at least can help get his strength back up when he's in contact with a water source. in very rare cases, gus also has the ability to create his own personal hurricane, but the circumstances would have to be quite high, and he'd need a lot of energy to do so.​

→ tremor inducement : as neptune is the roman god of earthquakes, this ability is passed on to gus too, as his host. while he can't perform the kind of destruction that neptune could, in his full godly form, gus can still perform impressively by creating minor tremors, especially if there's a water body nearby.​

→ control over horses : since neptune is the god of horses as well, having created them, gus will find that he can communicate with horses and, to an extent, get them to listen to him so he has some power over horses.​

→ energy : of course, while he can control water bodies, he's still only human. the larger the water body, the more energy is required to control it, and hurricanes are nearly impossible unless he's got a rush of adrenaline or has had extensive practise. often, his powers can take a toll on him if he uses them excessively, which could result in blackouts for a few hours.​

→ unpredictable : as far as his tremor inducement power goes, it is quite unpredictable, because it mirrors his emotions more than anything. should he get very frustrated or angry, he could cause tremors without realising it, and once it's happening, it's often hard to control since gus would be feeling a lot of different emotions at the time, which would make it hard to focus.​

→ distance : the further he is from a water source, the harder it is to control. similarly, he can feel almost drained when he's high up in the air for too long, with no water source nearby. it doesn't help that gus is also terrified of heights.​

→ speed : a weakness of his that isn't related to his power is his speed. despite having long limbs, he's not the fastest runner, and he's clumsy so he often trips over himself.​

as ironic as it may be, gus drowned.

[div class=tag]bio.[/div] gus had always taken to the water, since he was a child. his mother and father were both people who loved the sea, and loved swimming and surfing, and so they taught him, along with his two older brothers. growing up close to a beach in australia certainly shaped who gus is today. he was a natural on the surf board, and the sea was like his second home. his father often called her a merman, and gus was quite pleased with the title. he was getting better as years passed, and he began to enter herself in various competitions, often coming out as the winner. however, when gus was thirteen, he'd been over at a friend's place during a particularly bad storm. he couldn't leave to go home because it was that dangerous, but when everything calmed and he got home a day later, he found that a tree had fallen into his home. his entire family had been inside and none of them had made it.

this left gus devastated for a while, and he was adopted by his maternal aunt, a widow named renee. she had no children of her own but she had always been someone gus considered close to, so opening up to her was not something hard to do. and while it was hard to cope with that much loss, he managed, throwing himself into swimming and surfing and competitions. years passed, and he became a more prominent figure in the sports world. he eventually became quite successful as both a surfer and a swimmer, but his primary field was surfing. after winning as many competitions as he possibly could, gus had decided to retire, so he could learn more about marine biology and do something to help better the condition of the oceans around the world.

his aunt, however, was not too keen on this idea. she was getting money, being gus's agent of sorts, and she wasn't ready for that to stop. despite trying to convince gus to continue her surfing, he was sure that he was done with it all, so renee took matters into her own hands. retiring was bad publicity but a sudden, tragic death? she could do loads with that. write a biography to sell, attend events and speak of her legacy... the opportunities were endless. so, she orchestrated gus's death with the help of her assistant, who had gus drowned. ironic, isn't it?
