Fantasy I Was Fine Until You

Rayner's gaze snapped towards Arthur when the young man began talking. Trying to get Rayner to stop, And wasn't Arthur a silly young man? Rayner didn't think he was anywhere near breaking Silas. A whip wouldn't stop him. But he found Arthur's behavior entertaining. So he grinned. "Mm... But its not just for his punishment? Now is it? But I am a merciful man. So perhaps we can talk of alternative punishments? " Rayner seemed thoughtful. So he crossed his arms and murmured. "Lasting scars could be annoying. So how about this. " A idea seemed to come to his mind and he clasped his hands together. Seeming excited. A bright smile on his face.

Rayner then looked at Arthur. "Your going to beat him, Kick, Punch. I don't care, Just make it hurt. And If, I think you've punished him enough. Then I won't need to bring out the whip. Yes? A good punishment for both of you. " While Rayner did not know about what happened with Kay, He could see Arthur cared deeply for Silas. Would he dare hurt him? It was a interesting idea. But, Silas was being a annoying pest as always. Squeaking. "Arthur, Don't. He'll probable just use the whip anyway. " Silas didn't put it past his father. But he might not. Because then he'd be able to use this method again in the future. Threaten to hurt Silas more unless Arthur did it himself.

So Rayner shook his head. Glaring towards Silas, Nodding towards the Guard who suddenly moved it foot off Silas. Only to kick him roughly in the side. Enough to knock him over and Silas yelped. Instinctively moving his hands up to cover his head. Just in case another blow was to come. But it didn't. No, Rayner was looking at Arthur. By now, The other guard was returning. Whip in hand. So Rayner purred. "Do we have a deal? " He asked, Head tilting to the side.

Rayner’s sadism was jumping out again, the man just couldn’t seem to help himself. It wasn’t just Silas that he wanted to hurt though and that was something that Arthur had almost forgot. He wasn’t used to people being so….mean to him, and it’s not like Rayner was physically hurting him, just emotionally torturing him, it wasn’t the same. Arthur was silly because he stupidly let himself hope that Rayner might offer another punishment that would be better. Except anything Rayner offered would be cruel and unkind and unfair, either way he was going to harm Silas and that was simply unacceptable. What Rayner did suggest though? Was worse than Arthur could’ve imagined.

He recoiled involuntarily at the proposal. He wanted Arthur to be the one to hurt him, physically lay his hands on Silas. This was all too similar to Kay and he was feeling more panicked now, chest tightening as the past and present started to collide. He only just caught Silas’ words over the rushing in his ears. And Rayner was smiling at him, like he’d suggested a nice walk in the park. Arthur was going to be sick. He couldn’t hurt Silas, not like that. It felt like a betrayal, even if it was to stop further pain. He didn’t want Silas to look up, being hurt, and to look into his eyes. He just couldn’t do it, he wouldn’t be able to do that to Silas. Besides, what would Rayner count as enough punishment? He might have Arthur beat Silas half to death only to punish him further himself.

Arthur swallowed thickly, looking at Silas for a long time before he looked towards Rayner. “No” he said. “I won’t“ he couldn’t. “There must be something else” Arthur insisted although he ultimately knew it was futile. He felt like he’d do almost anything in that moment for Silas, anything but hurt him. His throat was burning and He felt weak, faint, he felt so helpless and was sure that was what Rayner wanted. Silas was going to be hurt one way or another that was for sure. Unless someone came up with a miracle.

It seemed the choice had been made, Or well, Arthur wasn't really given much of a choice. So, Rayner just smiled at Arthur. Cooing. "If you two had both behaved yourself. You wouldn't have to choose this. " With that, He turned and began walking to his throne. Sitting down, His eyes sweeped over the scene and Rayner looked to the guard gripping Arthur. Warning. "Keep a tight hold on him. " Before his gaze cast to the other guards. Nodding his head. And thus they set into motion. Of course Silas fought, Sure, It might have been easier to just give up. But Silas would never give Rayner that satisfaction. So he kicked and screamed as the guards dragged him to a nearby pillar. It was beautiful made of marble. Ment just to support the building and decorate the room. Now it seemed it would be tainted red. As Silas's hands were bound and he was bound to the structure. A method to keep him from moving.

Silas snarled, Still struggling and drawing his gaze towards his father. He had no doubt Rayner had been planning this all night. Ways to torture the two boys. This was ment to hurt Arthur just as much as Silas. Rayner couldn't physically touch Arthur. But he'd make him suffer all the same. Silas then snarled. "I hate you. " He informed. While his father gave him a sharp smile. Seemingly amused. "Oh, I'm only doing this because I love you. Someone has to teach you manners. " He then looked towards Arthur.

Poor Arthur looked sick, And he studied him for a moment. Debating on his words. But he soon decided to dig further. Grinning. "Remember, This was your choice. " As if to put blame on Arthur. To make him think this was his fault. When they all knew the only one guilty here was Rayner. He then leaned back in his throne. Looking towards the guards. Before nodding his head to his guards. "Begin. "

Choose this? As if Arthur had had the decision? As if he might’ve been able to force himself to hurt Silas, as if it were some sort of mercy. Arthur could only watch as they dragged Silas to the pillar, straining against his own guard a little but not breaking free, he felt like he might fall over if he wasn’t being gripped right now. How could all these guards go along with this so easily? Rayner was king but he still expected some reluctance. Maybe these guards were always the same, an inner circle of abusers.

Arthur felt like He might collapse but he still managed to glare back at the king as he tried to put the blame on Arthur. “Take some responsibility for your own actions Rayner” Arthur snapped, not deigning to use his title. He didn't deserve Arthur’s respect. Then he was telling them to begin and Arthur had a choice, he could try and break free, he was sure he probably could, try and stop this, maybe assault the guard with the whip, but where would that get them? Rayner would only punish Silas further. Still, it felt silly to just accept it so easily. Arthur’s head was pounding and his mind split over what to do. His body took the decision from him though and he sunk to his knees, pulling against the guard, not through trying to escape but through gravity. What would Rayner do if Arthur just closed his eyes and refused to look? They wouldn’t find out because his gaze was locked on Silas. Kay. Silas. The symmetry of the moment was astounding and painful.

He wasn’t going to cry. He told himself that. He’d cried when he’d had to whip Kay. The lady had shouted at him for it. They hadn’t enjoyed his tears. But Rayner? He would like them and so Arthur wouldn’t cry. Not now. He felt both like his chest was being crushed and entirely numb. His knees hurt from how he’d landed on the ground but he also couldn’t feel his body. Silas was going to be in pain, not just for a day or a few, but for a while because they’d gone out. Kay had taken a long while to recover, he wasn’t sure Silas would get the same care even the slave had gotten. Would Rayner let up the abuse for a little while? Not likely. Arthur would need to make sure he was taking care of his wounds. But how bad would it be? Arthur wouldn’t be able to stop looking until it was over; his own breath felt ragged and it was hard to swallow but he would not show Rayner more weakness than he had to. Goodness it was hard to fight the bile rising in his throat though.

Poor Arthur was trapped simply watching as things began. Silas of course struggling against his bonds. But when it began? He could do nothing but brace himself for the next strike, Screaming soon turning into whimpers. Rayner simply sat watching on, Almost gleefully. He was enjoying this. He enjoyed his son being hurt. Each moment seemed to last forever. But Rayner could only let things go so far. He wasn't going to kill Silas, He also wasn't keen on him passing out. Which well, Silas eventually was looking rather faint. So finally he rose to his feet. "Thats enough. " He murmured. Slowly walking closer as the guards moved away from Rayner. The whip was dripping with blood, Which caused Rayner to tsk. They'd need to have a servant come clean up. He then looked at Silas. Who was slumped against the pillar. The back of his shirt ruined. He could see the scars, See the blood. And Silas seemed rather out of it. So he then moved closer. Murmuring. "Why must you always force my hand? " He questioned, And he felt his son look at him.

Silas had tears in his eyes. No doubt from the pain. But he also had another emotion. Hate. Something Rayner found amusing. Yes, Silas still had plenty of fight left in him. So thus he motioned towards a guard. Who moved forward. Cutting Silas down and watching as he collapsed on the ground. Finally Rayner then brought his attention to Arthur. Head tilting to the side before he spoke. Almost in a purr. "Now, I trust you can find your way back to your room? Do escort Silas to his own room, Would you dear? " He didn't wait for a responds. Simply turned around. Dismissing the guards before leaving.

Thus Silas and Arthur was left alone. Silas no doubt would need tending to his wounds. Every movement felt painful. Blood stained his clothes and he laid there trembling. But he was still awake. Having decided to clutch his eyes closed tightly. It was over now. He was okay. There would be no more pain for today. This was the first time Rayner had intentionally drew blood. Normally, Bruises were the extent of Rayner's attacks. A bad omen for the future Silas supposed. Because once he'd gone this far. He'd surely do so again.

Arthur’s whole body was tense and he flinched every time the whip made contact, every time Silas made a noise. The blood only made him feel more sick and he watched it drip onto the floor with morbid intent. If evil did truly exist in this world then Rayner surely must be part of it. How could this man be a good king? Silas had claimed it to be so but he was not a good man so was Probably one bay day away from burning down the kingdom. Except Rayner probably liked the respect and attention too much for that. Finally it was over and Rayner was addressing them. Arthur only looked at him with hollow eyes, not really seeing him, not truly in this moment.

It was when they were left alone that Arthur came more to his senses, the closing of the door spurring him to action. He rushed forward, only to hesitate by Silas’ side. Maybe he shouldn’t touch him, he didn’t want to cause him more pain, except he wasn’t sure Silas would be able to make it to his room without help. Should he help support his weight, or carry him? “Silas” Arthur said, voice shaky. Oh, okay, yeah he might throw up, but he wasn’t sure there was anything left in his stomach. No, focus on Silas right now! “Come on, we need to clean those up” he said softly. Surely a medic would help, right? Rayner didn’t want Silas ro die because he was sure he would’ve killed him himself had that been the case.

”I..I can carry you if you’d like” he offered, and maybe someone should check on that guard too. If he was alive then He could do with medical attention, and if he wasn’t? well, Arthur wasn’t sure, but they should at least know. And oh, Caroline surely had to be made aware, Arthur couldn’t see himself keeping this from her snd she’d wonder why Silas seemed more hurt than usual. “We’ll get you something for the pain and….and I’ll make sure they’re clean and we’ll get something to help them heal” Arthur was there for him, as he’d said. At least Arthur now had a bit of practice in looking after these sort of wounds, he’d helped apply the medicine to Kay when needed. He glanced over to the bloody guard and he moved away from Silas hesitantly to check on the man, he figured Silas might need a moment to compose himself, prepare himself for the pain of being moved. Also Arthur did not want to throw up on him which he was pretty sure that he was going to do soon enough.

Silas heard the sound of Arthur's footsteps. Heard his name and it was comforting. His gaze flickering up. Though he was certainly dazed and in a lot of pain. He managed to muster a smile. Murmuring. "I... Don't suppose... you find scars hot? " A attempt to lighten the mood. Not that it helped much. Arthur was then offering to carry him. He did need his wounds looked at, But Still, Silas tried to get up on his own. But when he put his arms under himself and attempted to push himself up. He found himself wincing and struggling. Soon collapsing back on the ground. He wasn't going to be able to walk back it seemed. It would be painful for Arthur to carry him. But it seemed the two had little choice.

Arthur then was moving away from Silas, Causing the man to flinch. But Silas soon realized where he was going. The guard. Suddenly terror clutched his chest. The fate of the man still remained unknown. Was he dead? His father had just left him on the floor. So if he wasn't then it seemed his punishment was probable over.
Perhaps to Arthur's surprise. The man was breathing. He was badly beaten. Seemed he was out cold. But, while his injuries were bad. With medical attention he would hopefully recover. It might be difficult for Arthur to move both Silas and the guard though. Perhaps he might be able to call for one of the knights to come assist.

Silas managed to whimper. "Is he....? " Already fearing the worst. How had his father even figured out his escape? Probable a servant had noticed the path they were taking and ratted him out. It would be easy to pin point the guard as he would have been on duty. Silas was already mentally scolding himself. Of course his father would have taken action eventually. Silas should have been more careful. Used a less frequented exit. The servant exit had simply been the easiest to escape threw. And frankly, Silas had enjoyed the brief greetings he often shared with the guard.

How could Silas joke at a time like this? But Silas was always teasing and playing, it did actually work to alleviate some of the stress Arthur was feeling, made him feel more convinced that Silas was strong and would be fine, eventually. Silas definitely needed his help getting out of this room though. He wasn’t the only one either. Arthur breathed a sigh of relief as he noticed the man was breathing and felt a pulse. He’d be in a world of pain once he woke up but at least they didn’t have to deal with his death. Maybe Silas would have a friend to heal with, except the guard probably wanted nothing to do with them after this.

”he’s alive” he reassured Silas, moving away from the man slightly and pressing his hand to wall as he leaned against it, closing his eyes and focusing his breathing so he could try and calm down so he could deal with this. No, he wasn’t going to throw up, and he wasn’t going to start blubbering. Silas needed help, and so did this guard. He needed to either get them to a medic or get them settled somewhere and bring a medic to them. He imagined Silas might prefer the privacy of his bedroom, and at least there he might be able to get some bed rest. Plus, Arthur didn’t know where the medic’s was. Arthur couldn’t carry them both though, he didn’t trust the guards here, but he did trust the knights from his kingdom. But would any be about? Arthur didn’t know and he was hesitant to leave them but he had to try and get help.

”I’ll be right back” he promised. “I can’t carry you both on my own” he explained and went to push open the door and try to find a knight. It seemed he didn’t have to go far though because Galehaut was about. He’d not strayed too far in the end, curious about what was going on and whilst he maybe wasn’t the best option, he was probably better than Gawain who seemed to really not get on with Silas. He looked at Arthur curiously, following after the prince as he was beckoned and his exhalation was audible as he entered the room and saw the sight. “F*cking hell “ Galehaut breathed. Maybe he’d expected a grounding, a slap on the wrist, not to find the prince whipped within an inch of his life and a man half dead on the floor. “What messed up kingdom has Alexander sent us too” Galehaut murmured in disbelief.

”things aren’t like back home” Arthur agreed and went back to Silas’ side. “Please carry him, we need to get them medical attention” Arthur instructed, directing Galehaut to the unconscious guard. Maybe him and Galehaut weren’t friends but they were still comrades, brothers in arms, and they knew how to work together. ”okay, I’m going to pick you up now” Arthur told Silas gently, letting him prepare himself. He leaned down and went to put Silas over his shoulder. He figured it was the best position as it meant he wouldn’t have to be touching Silas’ back the whole time. “Take him to the medics and get them to send someone to Silas’ room” Arthur instructed Galehaut, killing two birds with one stone there before he went to try and make it to Silas’ room as quickly as possibly without jostling the other prince too much. He wouldn’t be surprised if Silas passed out from the pain frankly. He burst into Silas’ room, not thinking much about his let cheetah and went to lay Silas gently on the bed, stomach down so his back wouldn’t have any contact on it. He needed to clean him up, and that was going to hurt, but then they could see how bad the damage really was. Arthur went to get a wet cloth, soon returning to his friend and sitting next to him on the bed. “I’m sorry, this is going to hurt” he murmured, gently going to dab at Silas’ wounds, and he was feeling sick again this close to it, it was just like Kay, but he pushed it down and set to work trying to clean them as gently as possible.

Relief rushed threw Silas at Arthur's words. The guard was alive. Would hopefully recover. But then Arthur was leaving and it made Silas tense up. He didn't want to be alone. Yet Arthur had to get help. Luckily he wasn't gone long and Silas soon heard the sound of Galehaut cursing. Then Arthur was once more at his side. Arthur was soon taking charge. Ordering Galehaut to handle the guard. He didn't hear any argument from Galehaut. Which was a relief. But then Arthur was addressing him. And slowly Silas nodded. This was going to hurt. Silas knew it very well. And he soon found himself whimpering when Arthur finally picked him up. Weekly clutching the back of Arthur's shirt. But he managed to stay conscious. Perhaps a surprising feat. But it hurt. Every step Arthur took and Silas tried to muffle any whimper that came from his mouth. But it was difficult.

Eventually they were reaching his room. And Silas was relieved when he was set down. His cheetah who had been sleeping nearby perked her ears at the two's arrival. But left the men alone for now. Arthur was taking care of things. Tending to the injury and Silas found his face burying into his pillow. Gritting his teeth and wincing. Tears running down his face. Though he tried to keep them contained. Eventually when Arthur's hand had stopped for a moment he allowed himself to turn his gaze to Arthur.

Swallowing, Silas then murmured gently. "Arthur... Thank you. For staying. " Someone had been there. Arthur might not have liked being there. But it felt better, To not be alone anymore. He attempted to once more sit up. But that only further agitated his wounds. Forcing him back down. By now, Silas's cheetah had gotten up. Prowling closer and looking at her master. Before nuzzling his hand gently. Ears pinned back. As if the creature was worried. Silas spared a moment to reach up and run his hand threw her fur. A small comfort. Probable wasn't safe to leave the cheetah in the same room with him when he was so weak and bloody. Though right now the animal seemed only affectionate with Silas. Silas then murmured weakly. "Next time we go out, We need to have more fun. " Because Silas very much planned to escape again. But if they did leave? They should try and enjoy it as much as possible.

The cloth Arthur had been using quickly Turned red and after a while he spilled and just gazed at Silas’ wounds. His eyes drifted to Meet Silas’ though as he was addressed. Arthur had not enjoyed staying, but he’d promised Silas, besides he didn’t think Rayner would have let him leave anyway. It had brought up a lot of trauma for Arthur, that was sure, but it felt selfish to mention that. Silas did know about Kay being flogged though, he had told him so he might make the connection. He watched the cheetah approach dully, it of course didn’t understand why Silas was in pain, but maybe it wasn’t too unused to it. How many times had Silas come back here to only be comforted by his cheetah?

Silas was stroking the cheetah and Arthur himself was running his hand through Silas’ hair, he wanted to touch Silas without hurting him and it helped keep him calm. His hand stilled though as Silas said about going out again. “Maybe that’s not the best idea” Arthur said. He didn’t think Rayner would let up on the abuse, but maybe if they stayed in the castle he wouldn’t get the whip out again. “Besides, you won’t be able to party for a while“ Arthur pointed out, he couldn’t see Silas being well enough to get into lots of trouble for a while. But Silas was full of surprises so he might manage it. How were they going to escape even? No guard would help them now he figured, they could climb out a window but not with the state of Silas’ back!

Arthur went back to running his hand through Silas’ hair. “Besides, are you saying you didn’t find last night fun” Arthur murmured, trying to keep the mood light even if he felt like thunderstorms And ice. “I’ll admit, it’s a bit fuzzy For me” he told Silas. “Did I land on you in the snow? Or did I make that up? It felt real but I don’t remember complaining Too much” and as everyone knew Arthur didn’t like the cold. “I think I remember it being a nice night, the stars were so bright”

Silas's gaze had focused on his cheetah. Enjoying the animals soft fur. When he felt Arthur's hand in his hair. Perhaps had he not been so exhausted he might have blushed or been embarrassed. But for now, The gently touch was nice. He then smiled and murmured softly. "Mm... Maybe, But something being a bad idea has never deterred me. " He pointed out. But he understood what Arthur ment. It hurt to move. It might take him a few days before he could even leave his room! But the two could perhaps still find some trouble to get into around the castle.

Silas managed a small chuckle at Arthur's words. He had enjoyed the two's night. It was nice to escape. He though pointed out. "I didn't get to show you around town. " His tone a bit disappointed. Sure, There would be other times. But there had been so much more he had wished to do. But that wasn't to say he didn't enjoy the night. It had been lovely and Silas averted his eyes as Arthur continued. He then mused. "You did, You also practically slept on top of me. Your heavy by the way. " He teased. Before humming in agreement. Opening his mouth to say more. When he heard the sound of knocking. Seemed the medic had arrived.

A small man was soon pushing open the door. Carrying with him some supplies. Though he faltered at the sight of Silas's back. Visibly wincing. Before moving closer. Studying the wound and muttering. "King Rayner I assume? " His gaze flickering to Silas. Seemed the medic wasn't that surprised. Normally Silas retreated to his own room to heal. But there had been a few times when he needed assistance. The way Silas looked away was enough evidence and the medic tsked. Luckily Arthur had done a good job cleaning the injury. But it would need to be bandaged and Silas certainly needed something for the pain. Silas then as the medic began searching threw his supplies began. "How is- " But the medic seemed to already know what Silas was going to ask. For he cut him off. "He's in a bad state. But he'll heal. " He promised, The guard should be okay. Hopefully Rayner would not cause him any further harm.

Arthur managed a small smile at Silas’ words, a little less frantic Now that Silas was relatively safe. “Why does that not surprise me” he murmured in amusement, of course Silas would always get into trouble, regardless of the consequences. It was just in his nature to be a creature of trouble. They would just have to get into trouble around the castle but it Might be harder that close to Rayner and his loyal guards. It would be more fun to go back in town but it was probably wisest to not stray too far from medical attention and not to go on too long journeys with Silas injured as he was.

It was a shame that he’d not seen much of town but he’d enjoyed their time out, enjoyed not having to withstand all the ridicule of the party, even if he was greatly regretting the consequences. He smiled again, running his hand through Silas’ hair one last time before pulling his hand away a bit and just leaving it resting on Silas’ arm. “I might be heavy but at least I kept you warm” he replied, he'd certainly been toasty, it was nice to have finally felt some warmth for a while. He’d slept well, it hadn’t been the most comfortable night he’d ever had but he had had good dreams.

Arthur looked up as the medic entered. So other people knew about this abuse? He wondered how many. Was it widely known, or just those that had witnessed it, had helped patch him up. Although he wasn’t sure many people had ever really helped Silas afterwards. And at least there was some good news, that The guard would be okay, even if it took a while to heal. Arthur gave Silas’ arm a comforting squeeze before moving out of the way so the medic could tend to him better. “Is there any way I can help?” He asked. And this was the medic, had Caroline spoken to him yet? Did she need to? He wasn’t really sure but it couldn’t hurt right? Except now maybe wasn’t the best time. And he needed to check in with her anyway, let her know they were back, maybe tell her to be careful when hugging Silas. “I imagine You’ll have to tell me your medical advice, I’ll make sure Silas follows it instead of going off gallivanting and forgetting about it” Silas might be too busy trying escape again to properly look after himself. Plus, his back was a hard place to reach so could use some help applying the medicine and bandages.

Silas couldn't help but feel a little sad when Arthur finally moved away. Having enjoyed his comfort. But he understood Arthur was simply giving the medic room. But, His attention was soon on the pain as the medic began tending to his wound. Gritting his teeth and once more burying his face into his pillow. Hopefully whatever the man was doing would help with the pain! Speaking of help, Arthur was offering to assist the medic. Which startled him a bit. He then shook his head. "I'm afraid there isn't much you can assist me with. Though I'm sure Silas could use someone with him. " He then tilted his head. Before nodding, Going back to work.

"I'll have a salve made for his wound, If you can make sure its applied to his wound and the injury is rebandaged everyday. That'll be the best way to help me. " He explained. He could show Arthur how to bandage the wound properly later. For now, He was just focused on stopping the worst of the bleeding. But, Silas seemed to be relaxing a bit. Seemed whatever the medic had applied had numbed the pain a bit. Though the man still had his teeth gritted and probable wasn't going to be able to make conversation until the man finished.

Once he was satisfied the worst of the bleeding was stopped and he retrieved his bandages. Pausing for a moment before asking. "Silas, Can you sit up? It'll make bandaging your wound easier. " It was a bit difficult with him laying down. Carefully, Silas nodded. Attempting. But he was exhausted and it was painful. Thus he soon was forced back down. Silas then whimpered. "I'm sorry, It.. I can't. " It hurt to move. The medic thus sighed. Shaking his head and muttering quietly. "Truly, What has gotten into his majesty to do this. " Finally looking to Arthur. He gestured to Silas and urged. "Think you can help him sit up? "

Perhaps they should’ve given Silas something to bite on for the pain. Unfortunately, Arthur was helpless again but at least in this capacity Silas was being looked after, not tortured. And he would have to keep Silas company for the man might be confined to bed rest for a while, either through doctor’s orders or the pain. Silas might want to sleep soon anyway, they had woken up not that long ago but all that pain and torture had been exhausting, muscles too tense and the pain likely almost making him pass out. Arthur wouldn’t be surprised if he was asleep within the hour, and if he did, he'd stay until Silas was settled then go check on Caroline.

Daily maintenance was what his wounds needed to heal properly so Arthur was going to have to spend a lot of regular time around Silas, not that he was complaining. Alarm shot through Arthur as the medic questioned what had gotten into the King snd then looked at him, but it seemed he was looking at him for help rather than blame, even if it was Arthur’s presence which had seemed to mark the change in the long. He nodded at the instructions and moved back towards Silas. “Sorry” he murmured, this wasn’t going to be nice. He moved Silas to a sitting position as gently as he was able, sitting next to the prince to help support him, not sure if Silas would be able to keep himself upright otherwise. No, Silas could lean on him, it was the least he could do.

”how long do you think until Silas will be back to his annoying old self?” Arthur questioned, curious if the answer but also trying to keep the mood light. He gave Silas a fond smile and ran his hand through his hair again. Arthur was being quite open with his affection at the moment which maybe wasn’t unusual but normally he wasn’t so touchy feely necessarily and maybe the medic would think it strange, but Arthur couldn’t help it, Silas’ state was making him feel tender and it helped to touch Silas and know he was going to be okay. Silas swagger would probably come back in full force before he could walk around with it. And Arthur wondered how difficult daily life was going to be for Silas for a little while, it might be difficult for him to dress himself, to bathe, to even go to the toilet simply because it hurt to move that much, but hopefully the medicine for the pain would help him with that and the exhaustion in his bones should disappear quicker than the pain. Arthur would just have to help him anyway he could in the meantime.

Arthur soon was coming to Silas's aid, Who braced himself. Though he did his best not to complain as Arthur helped him sit up. Closing his eyes tightly and leaning into Arthur. Mumbling a small thank you. Though it was hard to hear. The medic wasted no time, Going about properly bandaging the injury. His eyes briefly moving to Arthur. He then said. "It'll take a while before his injuries heal. Longer if he's too reckless. But he should be able to walk around soon enough. " He'd just need to take it easy for a while! Hopefully nothing would reopen his wounds and Rayner would allow him time to recover. The medic though smiled gently. "But, Knowing him, He'll find some sort of nonsense to get into even while stuck in bed. " Seemed the medic very much understood what Silas could be like. He was the main person to tend to his wounds after all!

Silas by now had leaned more into Arthur's touch. It was nice, He wasn't used to being comforted like this. But he enjoyed it. Perhaps if he wasn't so exhausted he might have been flustered. Leaning into Arthur like this. He heard the medics words and briefly considered making some sort of snide comment. But the man was finishing up and soon was speaking more professionally. "Alright, I've done all I can do. You just need to rest now. " His eyes then narrowed at Silas. "I mean it, I'll come back to check on you later. " He promised. Gathering his supplies. Silas couldn't help but roll his eyes. Musing teasingly.. "Ugh, What a bore. " Before he focused more on the medic.

"I promise not to get into trouble. Just... Keep me updated on the guard. " He asked, But he doubted he needed to. The medic likely already planned to keep him informed. But the medic nodded anyway. Slipping out the room and leaving the two men behind. Silas still leaning against Arthur. Found himself teasing quietly. "I take it you like my hair? " It certainly was a sharp contrast from Arthur's dark curls. Silas couldn't complain to much. Last night he'd been rather enamored by Arthur's eyes.

It would be a waiting game for Silas’ back to heal and to see how badly he’d scar. Maybe Silas would get lucky and there would be little evidence of what had been done to him but Arthur figured he’d probably get scarred one way or another, if not now, when Rayner inevitably broke out the whip again. Arthur could already see what a repeating cycle this was going to be much to his dismay and figured he might have to spend a lot of his time looking after Silas, not that he minded, just not his he thought this trip would go.

Arthur would say that normally Silas‘ main destination of trouble might be a bed anyway but he hadn’t been sleeping around lately, yet he imagined the medic was right and Silas would still get up to no good. Right now, Silas just needed to relax though, as boring as that might be, he needed to just rest snd give his back time to heal. Maybe Arthur would have to sit on him to keep him trapped here at some point. Arthur murmured his thanks to the medic as he left them alone.

He blinked in surprise as Silas addressed him stroking his hair. “It’s calms me” he admitted after a little while. ”my mother used to do it to me when I was little and I always found it soothing” he explained. “I was hoping it might bring you a little comfort too” If nothing else, it seemed to have amused Silas a little. “I can stop if you don’t like it.” Maybe Silas was sick of being touched, would rather be left alone but he didn’t seem angry with Arthur over it at the least. “I figure daily life is going to be a bit difficult for you for a while, so I want you to know that I’ll help you however you want” he promised, although Silas didn’t really need him, he couldn’t probably just get a servant to help him out, but maybe he didn’t want to be this vulnerable in front of lots of people, and maybe they’d need a big strong knight to help lift him! Arthur just wanted to help really, from getting him a glass of water to helping him bathe, he didn’t want Silas to struggle. Caroline was surely going to be mortified and Arthur figured she might want to see her brother once he told her the news, maybe he should fetch her before Silas decided he wanted to go back to sleep.

Silas listened to Arthur talk, Suddenly aware of the two's closeness. Although, Silas couldn't complain. It was nice having Arthur near. Some one that truly did care about him. Arthur's explanation was sweet and Silas found himself saying a bit too quickly. "No, I like it. " And well, I felt weird to say that. Silas really wasn't being the smoothest. He just liked Arthur's company. Eyes averting. He then swallowed before telling Arthur. "Thank... Thank you for staying, I know it was all horrible.. " From both there sides. Silas had suffered, But Silas felt like he'd struggle to be in Arthur's shoes as well. Unable to help and just forced to watch. Rayner couldn't physically hurt Arthur, But he'd still make him suffer as much as he could.

Silas then murmured. "I... Its better having someone by my side. " His father was good as isolating Silas. And sure, Eventually Arthur would have to leave and he'd be on his own again. But for now? They were together and it made things feel far more bearable. Silas was leaning into Arthur. Far more aware of his exhaustion. He should settle down, Rest for a while. But he didn't much want to move away from Arthur. Arthur was warm and gentle. Plus his back hurt when he moved.

So, Arthur probable shouldn't have been surprised when exhaustion finally caught up with Silas. And he was asleep. Leaning close to Arthur, And well, That probable put Arthur in a bit of a situation. If he wanted to leave he'd probable have to wake up Silas, Because moving him off him would probable disturb him. Thus, Arthur might be stuck there for a while! Oh well.

Arthur smiled gently as Silas confessed that he liked it. He’d promised Silas he would stay so there was no need to thank him but yeah, it had been horrible. He wasn’t sure Rayner would have let him leave anyway, this was meant to punish him too and it was certainly making him feel bad Inside. Arthur went back to stroking Silas‘ hair gently as the other prince fell asleep against him. Arthur wasn’t surprised and honestly, he found it sort of cute, the way Silas was leaning into him whilst asleep.

He did feel like he should go see Caroline, but he didn’t want to disturb Silas, he deserved to sleep, and would Silas feel betrayed if he just slipped off? Besides, he’d slept on Silas last night, it was only fair that he got to sleep on Arthur now. He continued to stroke his hair, stilling for a moment to press a gently kiss to Silas’ forehead. He looked so sweet, and Arthur stayed still for as long as he could but eventually he figured he had to move, the sooner he did so, the sooner Silas could get back to sleep. So, he tried to subtly move himself from under Silas and let the other prince lay down, hopefully he was asleep enough that he didn’t notice the small movements, and that the medicine had helped numb some of the pain that would come with the movement.

“I need to check on Caroline” he murmured gently to Silas, not even sure the man would hear him. “I promise I’ll come back” he insisted, he didn’t know how long he’d be, but he wouldn’t leave Silas alone forever, Caroline might want to see him anyway so he might be back rather soon actually. He might have to put her off for a bit though so that Silas could get some significant sleep. Would Caroline blame him for this? As far as he could tell, Silas hadn’t been hurt this badly before his arrival, and Rayner was doing this partially to punish him as well, or at least as an excuse.

Silas was rather comfortable cuddling with Arthur, But soon enough the time for Arthur to go came. Luckily whatever the medic had used on him had done well enough to numb the pain. But, Silas still stirred a bit when Arthur began moving. A sleepy haze over him and he seemed to register Arthur's words, Cause he was soon enough mumbling something that seemed to be a goodbye. Arthur's absence soon enough forgotten as he drifted back to sleep. His Cheetah hopping up onto the bed, Taking Arthur's spot it seemed and laying beside Silas. So it seemed he'd have someone to cuddle with while Arthur was gone!

For Caroline, The night had been worrying. Of course she had noticed when Arthur and Silas hadn't returned from the party. A passing servant having informed her that it seemed the two had snuck off. Which was worrying enough. But Caroline knew of her fathers anger, And while he had never raised a hand against her. She had decided it best to lay low for the moment. Simply hope Arthur and Silas's punishment wouldn't be too harsh.

Thus all Caroline could really do was wait. It was still too early to seek out her friends company, And Caroline had a feeling her husband and Silas would return soon enough, If they weren't back already. It didn't help that she felt sick already. Thus Caroline was rather on edge and when she heard the sound of the door opening. Caroline practically jumped to her feet to greet her husband. Ready to rush over to him except... She froze. Blood, Arthur had carried Silas. So of course he had some blood on him. But Caroline's thoughts quickly went to the worst possible options and maybe she was a bit pale. "Arthur? What happened? " She spoke, Tone alarmed as she finally got herself moving. Approaching him and unable to keep herself from fretting. She didn't see any obvious wounds on him. So the blood likely had come from someone else. Which was just as worrying for Caroline!

Arthur had forgotten about the blood staining his clothes and hands, it wasn’t like he was really concerned with his appearance at the moment, maybe he should’ve been though because it was clearly alarming Caroline, although the princess should be alarmed in all reality. “Your father is what happened“ he told her, although she could already guess that he figured. “He had Silas flogged” he explained, voice bristling with anger, he’d also almost killed a guard. “I had a medic tend to him and he’s currently sleeping” he added on, aware that Caroline would want to know he'd been looked after.

”we shouldn’t have gone to town, I recognise that, but your father has gone way too far” he ranted, Silas was going to be in pain for ages over this! Likely scarred as well. He’d taken away some of Silas’ independence with his reduced range of movement, although maybe that had been the plan? A lot of Silas’ blood had been shed in that throne room and the thought of it still made him sick but he was a bit too angry to throw up right now. “We can’t let this continue Caroline, I don’t know what to suggest but if it doesn’t stop then one day your father is going to kill Silas” maybe it wouldn’t be intentional, maybe he’d just go too far and not be able to stop Silas from passing, or maybe it would be intentional and he’d simply reach the point where he’d had enough of his son. He clearly hated Silas, Arthur feared if Rayner had had another son by now then Silas wouldn’t still be here.

”why doesn’t he hate you?” He asked and it came out a bit harsher than he meant it to but still, why did Caroline not get punished? He didn’t want her to but what was with the disparity between the siblings? Maybe she’d say that she was better behaved but that wasn’t entirely true was it, she still snuck out much like her brother, maybe she had less back talk though, then again she’d seemed alright giving it to Alexander. Perhaps Rayner simply had a soft spot for Caroline. What if she talked to her father? Could she not go crying to him in the hopes he might lessen his violence against Silas, but they risked him turning on Caroline he supposed. Arthur moved past Caroline to the bathroom so that he could clean his hands a little, he should probably change as well, these clothes were bloody and from yesterday. “Sorry” he sighed once he emerged again, moving to the drawers to fetch some new clothes and starting to change ”I’ve just had a bit of a bad morning. Silas is in his room if you want to go see him, it might be best to let him rest but I did promise that I’d go back to him” Not that Silas would necessarily notice at the moment. Silas might not want to wake up alone though.

Caroline found herself faltering as Arthur spoke, And oh, Her husband wasn't happy. Flogged? Her father had never gone that far before from her knowledge. What had prompted him to do such? Arthur confirmed they had gone to town. But that hardly seemed enough! Yet... Caroline knew very well her father always went to far with Silas. A part of her wanted to find some rationalization. Some valid reason for Rayner to hurt Silas. But there was none, And she knew that. Arthur's words felt like ones that bordered on treason. Yet Caroline could find no words to argue. As much as she tried to think up something. Anything. She jumped at his next words. Her mouth opening to reply. But then he was walking past her to the bathroom and Caroline was stuck there. A little shellshocked!

Yet, When he reemerged he seemed to have calmed down a bit. Caroline's gaze was on the ground. Quietly moving towards the bed and sitting down. Caroline would need to visit her brother. She didn't want to see him so injured. But he'd need her to be there. Her mind was racing and Caroline finally found herself speaking up. "Maybe... Silas should just leave? " Her voice quiet. It was the only solution she could think of. Caroline then said. "Dad he... He tries to get him to... He... I... Silas clearly isn't what father wants. And Silas doesn't even want to be king. It... Maybe he should just pack up and leave. " It was hard to find the right words. And really, Caroline didn't like the idea. It was Silas's duty to be king. Him leaving would cause unrest. But the sooner he left. The sooner king Rayner could find someone else to take the job.

Except, Caroline didn't know where Silas would go. If he went to Arthur's home again, Alexander would likely send him back. Silas also was too injured to leave currently. He'd need to no doubt heal up from the flogging. Caroline then murmured. "Silas and dad will never get along. Silas just keeps pushing things, And Dad... He... " Caroline still wanted some blame to be on Silas. Because it made her fathers actions easier to handle. But both her and Arthur knew that Silas was not to blame. Silas could probable have been a perfect child and Rayner would likely still hate him.

Caroline seemed just as stuck for ideas as Arthur was and could only suggest that Silas should run away. It really wasn’t ideal though. Then again none of this situation was. “I don’t think it’s that simple” he murmured. He had told Silas that he’d help him run away if it came down to it, but no one really wanted to leave their home forever, although Caroline had been forced to, Silas had clearly come back eventually, not able to keep himself away despite all that lay here for him. “Whether they like it or not, Silas is the heir, and Silas’ absconded once, Im Not sure your father will allow it another time” No, Rayner might not let Silas slip off for so long again, maybe that’s why he’d hurt him so, Silas wouldn’t be able to get very far in the state that he was in.

Arthur finished getting redressed although he wondered his long these clothes would stay clean for, at least they weren’t as fancy as the ones now covered in Silas’ blood. And whilst the clothing was more relaxed, Arthur wasn’t. He ran a frustrated hand through his hair and tried to calm his breathing, there was no point getting worked up at Caroline. But could she not do anything? Surely She had some sway with her father? Had she ever tried standing up for her brother? It felt mean to suggest she might never had done. She might’ve been too young to start with anyway and he was sure Silas would insist she stay out of it or try to hide it from her as it went on.

”your father is clearly not as good a man as his reputation would have others believe. Maybe there’s something else he gets up to that can help us protect Silas?” He suggested. This kingdom was one of words after all, blackmail would go nicely with it. This all really wasn’t Arthur’s style though, but he couldn’t just sit back and do nothing. ”your dad is a sadist, he probably kicks puppies in his free time” he muttered. “I wish I’d punched him, or the guard, or anyone. But I can’t. If I lay a hand on anyone then Silas is only going to be hurt worse. And your dad is also definitely a megalomaniac control freak, he’d not even interested in a fair fight, just trying to break Silas” and it was probably distressing for Caroline to hear all this, he wasn’t sure how much she usually heard but Arthur couldn’t keep it bottled up. “He wanted me to hurt Silas actually. He said he wouldn't whip him if I beat him up! What sort of option is that? It was horrible watching it all but I couldn’t lay a hand on Silas, not like that” And had Caroline known that Arthur had been forced to watch? Maybe she suspected but it was still a horrifying thought to have confirmed And it would explain why Rayner was being so harsh.

”sorry, I’m not trying to….I know its horrible to hear and you probably don’t want to know all the details” he was apologising again, “come on, why don’t we go get some food and water, we can take it to Silas, we’ve not had any breakfast and he could probably do with something to eat” had she eaten herself? Or feeling too sick? Arthur hadn’t really thought much about food whilst he was watching Silas bleed but he should eat something to help his body recover from last night and some water would hopefully help his head. Silas might not stay asleep for long anyway, who knew when he might wake and Arthur didn’t want to leave him alone for too long.

Caroline's gaze soon drifted to the grown. Running wasn't a option it seemed. But, Arthur was suggesting something a bit more dangerous. Finding dirt on her father wasn't something she approved of, It could end up hurting not just Rayner, But her and Silas as well. But it would give them some more control. Except finding such was not the easiest of things. Still, Caroline knew where to search for secrets. Her father was sadistic. He wanted Arthur to hurt Silas? Her mind went to the incident with Kay and yeah. That would never have gone down well. So, Caroline found herself relenting. "If you want to find secrets about father. He has a few personal slaves. They would be the ones to ask. Some I believe he's rather intimate with." She knew Rayner had one or two she'd often seen go into his bedroom. They'd know secrets. But Caroline didn't know how Arthur would get one of the slaves alone to ask. Nor how he'd get one to reveal such things. Rayner could very well decide to kill one of them if he learned they'd given Arthur information.

Caroline didn't feel comfortable involving herself anymore in the subject. Was glad when the topic changed. Food, Caroline hadn't eaten much lately. Yesterday her stomach had been far to upset for that. Today didn't feel much better. But she probable should atleast try. Besides, It wasn't just for her and as much as she did dread to see what state Silas was in. She needed to go see him. So she nodded and got to her feet. Walking over to Arthur's side and taking his arm.

Caroline though paused. Her father might very well be in the dining room and Caroline figured that well... Arthur may not want to run into him. So she then tugged his arm and murmured gently. "C'mon. I know a side way to the kitchen. " It would be best if they just went straight there. The servants might be a bit annoyed by them just walking into the kitchen. But they'd get over it. Caroline then began leading the way. Glancing back to Arthur for a moment. Her thoughts returning to her brother and well... There was a lot that felt like it needed to be said. But Caroline couldn't muster that kind of courage. So she simply focused ahead on leading Arthur threw the halls.

Arthur didn’t really plan to reveal whatever he found out, well it wasn’t liekly, and especially not if it damaged Caroline and Silas as well. The problem was that Rayner might realise that, but would he be willing to take the chance? It depended on whatever secrets he was hiding. Arthur didnt really want to know too much of what Rayner got up to in the bedroom though, it was likely nightmare fuel. And he didn’t want to endanger the slaves, and they probably wouldn’t talk to him anyway, but you know who a slave might talk to? Another slave. He’d have to see if Kay could do him a favour. And he also needed to snag Kay so he could free him. Today had only further strengthened his belief in such an idea. It wouldn’t mean Kay would never be hurt again but it might help. He didn’t need Rayner learning about his fondness for Kay as well.

Arthur followed Caroline as she led the way, glad for the suggestion of going to the kitchen, he really didn’t want to run into Rayner again because who knows what Arthur might say or do which would then get passed onto Silas in punishment. “I’m sorry I keep leaving you” Arthur murmured to Caroline gently. “And for hogging Silas so much” he added, it didn’t seem fair to Caroline. “I know you probably want to spend time with your brother and i Apologise for taking up all his time” At least now Silas wouldn’t be going on adventures for a little while, she could be in his company more. “Maybe once his back heals a bit, we can all go out together” he suggested. “Lizard hunting perhaps” he knew she liked that, or though maybe for him and Silas it’d just be more of a walk.

Whilst Arthur might feel like he was starting to get to know Silas quite well, the smaller details escaped him so he hoped Caroline knew what her brother liked to eat. And they should probably pick up breakfast for the cheetah too he imagined. Hopefully the smell of the kitchens didn’t make Caroline feel sick. She was probably sick of being sick but Arthur wasn’t sure there was anything they could do about that. “Anyway, I hope you slept well. It’s probably nice having a bed all to yourself again” he tried to joke. They’d shared a bed for a little while now but They were both probably more used to sleeping alone. Arthur had come to enjoy having someone there at night though. He’d enjoyed cuddling with Ethan, and he was quite happy to have Caroline by his side, especially when it was freezing outside and the nightmares were lingering, he’d shared a bed with Silas yesterday so yeah…he didn’t much mind sharing his bed. Maybe Caroline had grown used to it as well and been lonely last night, he hoped his absence hadn’t upset her too much. Although Caroline was probably missing sharing a bed with Lance the most, and hadn’t Caroline mentioned there was someone here she’d liked before she left? Maybe Arthur should ask her about it, maybe encourage her. But maybe that was cruel and unwise, she was no doubt still hung up on Lance at least a little, and this baby could be his! But….she was pregnant so it’s not like she could get even more pregnant with someone else’s child so it might be worth a shot for her. He’d discuss it with her later maybe, it wasn’t really appropriate to bring up around Silas, well, actually, he might be aware who his sister had been crushing on in the first place and be willing to mention it in order to tease her.

Caroline blinked at Arthur when he began speaking. Finding herself smiling and saying. "No, I'm just glad to see you and Silas getting along. He... I know he can be difficult to get along with. " Silas could be a bit of a headache! Besides, Caroline had others to keep her company. Friends it had been far too long since she last saw. She could allow Arthur to borrow Silas as much as he liked! They probable shouldn't keep sneaking off though. Caroline then grinned at Arthur's next statement. Saying ruefully. "I'm afraid it won't be until later in the year when the lizards start coming out. They like the cold even less then you do. " She informed playfully. She didn't think Arthur was much keen on the snow in the area. Hopefully it was growing on him!

Caroline grinned at him as he kept talking. Laughing gently. "Well, I suppose it was nice not having to deal with your snoring. " She teased. Though Caroline certainly hadn't slept the easiest. She didn't feel well afterall, But... She herself had begun getting used to Arthur's presence. The man was hard not to notice, He did like to cuddle after all! So the other side of the bed had felt a bit empty. Her thoughts were interrupted as they finally were reaching the kitchen and well.. Things were busy. Servants bustling around to get everything prepared. Most though did take notice of the royal couple and chose to steer clear of the two. Perhaps hoping not to get in the way.

Not everyone was so aware though, One of the kitchen staff hadn't really been paying attention and well, Walked right into Arthur. A soft curse coming from him and annoyance clear on his face. Until he looked up and well, His face paled and he seemed rather bewildered. His mind probable going to the worst possible outcome. Arthur was a foreign prince, Could likely have his head if he wanted. Caroline though broke the awkwardness. Saying. "At ease, Your fine. We were hoping to see if we could get some breakfast prepared. Something for myself, Arthur, And Silas. " The poor servant seemed to jump at the chance to get away. Nodding and spinning around. Rushing off to follow Caroline's orders. Caroline then scanned the kitchen staff. Before her eyes snagged on something and she nudged Arthur. "Thats the head chef over there. Ethan's father. " Ethan and Arthur had seemed to be friends, Though Caroline knew things had soured a bit. They seemed to have kind of patched things up. So it felt reasonable to bring it up. Caroline might have made introductions but the chef seemed far to busy at the moment. The man certainly looked a good bit like Ethan. His hair a bit lighter and eyes a tad harsher. But one could easily enough tell he was Ethan's father.
