Name: The Whimsical Fairy of Love and Happiness, Guicà♥Zanni

Race: Demon (But does everything she can to appear human)

Personality: Mercurial and rarely takes things seriously. She hides her demonic nature behind campy mannerisms.
Bio: The Whimsical Fairy of Love and Happiness comes from a far off land where conflict is unheard of and everyone lives in perfect harmony. One day she found a strange book about a stranger land where people often didn't trust each other (SHOCKING!) and sometimes even fought each other (OH NO!) to the death! (HOW AWFUL!) But even worse of all, the book was supposedly about a real place with real people and real conflict! Perturbed by this tragic revelation, she set out immediately to end this great evil and spread joy to all.

In reality, Guicà♥Zanni was born in a secret society of demons that had denied their nature and chose to spread happiness with fanciful personas and comedic shows. Like most of her kind, when she became of age she set out on her own to entertain the masses, but despite her noble goal, her travels were often fraught with danger. Wild animals, bandits, and even the weather itself would try to take her life. Luckily for her, many of her tricks and stunts just so happened to translate well to defending herself and in time, word of this spread.

Magic:
  • Kaleidotrope - One of her two most commonly used spells, it bends light around her making it seem as if she's exploding out into a chaotic mass of shapes and colors. While it doesn't prevent people from knowing she's there, it does keep them from being able to pinpoint her exact location.
  • Flitting Grace - The other spell she commonly uses, it allows her to freely lessen the effect gravity has on her body and enables her to effortlessly pivot on any point of her body.
  • As a demon, she is also capable of using black magics, but is against using them.
Equipment:

Name: Ignus the Firebrand

Personality: Ignus is absolutely convinced that there is no problem in this world that can't be solved with the application of heat. He refuses to accept any arguments against it, with extreme prejudice.

Bio: Little is known of Ignus's history, for not even he can recall how he came to Darkwater twelve years ago. All that he can say is that he was "reborn", as a devout follower of Arowin. In deference to his god's will, Ignus had sacrificed his very identity-- burning his soul and reforging his mind into a form more fitting for his master's wishes.

Ignus led a small following of lowlifes, criminals, and addicts in worshipping the God of War. Ignus preached the many blessings that fire bestowed upon man, and the cleansing nature of flames. Ignus made many enemies from the mafias and gangs that ruled Darkwater, and his cult met them head-on, with fire and sword. Though Ignus never became one of the great movers and shakers of the city, he had become a terrifying bogeyman whispered about in the alleys and taverns of Darkwater.

Skills: Alongside being a crack shot with a lobbed torch, Ignus is a master charcutier and cauterizer. He's got quite a way with words, too.

Magic: Ignus is a master of all things fiery. Fireballs, gouts of flame, coatings of burning magic that can be spread across the ground or on a weapon, and even controlled explosions. Ignus will never use any form of magic that isn't exclusively fire-related.

Equipment: A simple robe made of burlap, enchanted to be nonflammable. A walking stick, that he's had to replace many, many times. A pipe, for smoking. A jar full of lantern oil and tallow. A tinderbox. A tin full of pine tar. A holy symbol of Arowin.

Name: V.A.N.D.E.R.B.I.L.T Model Designated K4
Age: 20 Days
Gender: MACHINE
Race: MACHINE

Personality: K4 is devoted to following out the routine programs of
  • Obtain more fuel for basic functioning.
  • Expand railway operations.
  • Destroy threats to railway expansion.
  • Provide paying customers with transport.
    There are also some subroutines of inquisitive nature regarding organic life, jingoistic pride of machines and the disbelief that magic is a thing and not just weaker form of tech.

Bio: Considering the K4 V.A.N.D.E.R.B.I.L.T. (Versatile Automaton Naturally Designing Extensive Railways By Innovative Locomotive Terminals) is only twenty days old, it does not have much of a backstory to speak of. But it fulfills its programming to the fullest, which is to expand the great railways of the realm of Ragahelm and drive tourism there to gaze upon their superiority. And of course obtain the coal (or other acceptable fuels), in particular a modified sort known as ‘cold coal’ which is a modified coal due to various energies impacting the natural seams, it requires so it can continue to function without having to power down for any extended length of time.

Though the Vanderbilt project has been going on longer, as a primarily offensive weapons program, K4 is part of the newer peaceful line which is focused more on the betterment of society’s public transit.

Magic/Technology:

ROLE ALTERNATIVE MACHINERY (R.A.M.) - K4 has the ability to manipulate between two forms, that of a smaller humanoid sized locomotive or that of a proper train (which does not help much when there are a lack of rails).

ROCKET IMPOWERED PUNCHES (R.I.P) – A method of defense only accessible in the ‘Architect’ form; K4 can eject its fists from itself via a powerful propulsion system. After hitting a target the arms activate sensors to fly back towards the body if able.

LOCALIZED ATTACK MISSILE BARRAGE (L.A.M.B) – In both forms K4 has access to launching a short missile strike, which while it cannot go far does leave a hefty amount of damage.

MINIGUN AUTOMATED DEVASTATION (M.A.D) - This completely front-facing move quickly, the locomotive uses part of its power to begin firing small chunks of metal at a very rapid pace.

Equipment:
Spare day (24 hour cycle) of fuel
Copious amounts of ‘Ragahelm Travel Brochures’

Personality: Ajax hold logic and reason in the highest regard. At times the only social interaction he seems capable of is intellectual discussion or debate. While he may seem cold and emotionless, he simply has difficulty expressing, or even understanding how he feels.

Bio: "Born of two worlds but accepted by neither" may be the shortest way to accurately describe Ajax's life. He grew up in an artisan town south-east of Minstral. Having little in the way of family, he found himself bouncing from one apprenticeship to the next, from blacksmithing to carpentry. His hard work was the only thing keeping the prejudices at bay, even in such a tight community. With each craft he learned, he felt like he was looking for something. But, try as he might, couldn't figure out what it was. That was until a traveler told him about a school of magic known as artifice, the bridge between engineering and enchanting. It took no time at all for Ajax to realize this is what he was looking for. Under that very traveler, who turned out to be an artificer themself, Ajax would enter his last apprenticeship and would never see his home again, not that it ever felt like home.

Years would pass with the young halfling consuming every word his teacher spoke. He was taught to see no difference between magic and science, and adopted the governing philosophy of artifice, to seek perfection in whatever endeavor one finds worthwhile. This would go on for about five years before, one day, his teacher vanished without a trace. Ajax was alone... to make his own way in the world. And make it he would, but not before learning the reason artifice was a fading art. With the fields of science and the arcane growing, so to did the divide between them expand. That left little place for artificers on either side. Once again Ajax was a part of two worlds yet accepted by neither. But that dosen't bother him anymore. He had work to do, and acceptance would only get in his way.

For the next few years, Ajax would hone his knowledge and skills as an artificer by wondering the region and using his trade to solve problems he came across as practice. He became something of an urban legend when he forged an amulet that countered the effects of a child's asthma. Once again his work was all that kept the prejudice at bay... most of the time anyway.

  • An etherium cell (magic energy storage, designed for workshop use)
  • Barrier bracers (leather "armor" on his forearms that can create an energy barrier to deflect physical projectiles. perfect for making fools of bigots)
  • standard camping pack with three day's provisions (lasts over a week with his coat)

Others: Not long after he was on his own, Ajax replaced his hands and almost half of his forearms with enchanted metal through a process called anatomic graphing for the purpose of enhancing his efficiency as an artificer. He only learned this was taboo after the fact, which did little to help his prejudice problem and explained the second reason artifice was dying out. So he normally wears long sleeves/bracers and gloves to conceal his augmentation.
