Liam Jacob Donahue - Newton

Description
Liam is 6'1" with naturally unkempt brown/black hair. He has a lean frame and doesn't spend a lot of time concerning his appearance. He is often several days past needing to shave, clothing left without ironing even on days when lecturing.

Covering his body is the molecular composition of common elements that he interacts with. In order for him to be able to change the structure using his power, he first has to know what the structure is. These are permanent cheat sheets for him.

His most common apparel is a silvery-grey vest over a plain white dress shirt and charcoal slacks.

When in action he will have a smattering of basic elements or compounds to use if a situation calls for it in a combat vest, or other similar pouches.

Backstory
Growing up with a love of science, Liam spent most of his ideas postulating new ideas and theories of the world, ones that would likely never come to pass.

His best friend was Owen, who would later be better known as Phaseshift. The day of that accident made them more similar than ever, yet that was when they started growing apart.

It was a miracle that they survived, yes, but people had different opinions on what they could do now. Variance they called it. The new distinction they had from the rest of humanity, but it was often seen in a negative light. Owen didn't mind. He took it as a challenge, something to rise above. Liam saw it as something to be ashamed of.

As they continued to grow up, Owen would use his new abilities to help when he saw fit, no matter the negative consequences. "Why couldn't I step forward with that much confidence." Liam often thought to himself as he tried his best to hide from his past and continue to have a normal life.

His ability to manipulate the orientation and connections of atoms in molecules did have his uses. Once in college abroad where very few could make the connection to his past, he was seen as a prodigy in the natural sciences. He quickly gained a doctorate in Chemistry and was invited to teach at a University back in his home.

(Space about occasionally using his powers by promptings of others dependent on what their owner says)

Owen David Fisher – Phaseshift

Description

Owen is 6’2’’ with thick sandy blond hair that he always keeps swept back. He is stockier in his build but keeps a healthy figure.

When he is not doing hero work as Phaseshift, he tends to wear colorful button-down shirts layered over a solid color tee, often with the sleeves rolled up. Along with dark jeans and stylish sneakers(that aren’t necessarily made for running, just looks).

When working as Phaseshift he has a purple suit that can conceal his identity.

He has a very outgoing personality and loves doing hero work, even though sometimes he may not think of the consequences of said hero work.

Backstory

Owen's Mother was the CEO of a major company and always tried to get him more interested in one day running it but to no avail.

Owen would rather spend his time with his best friend Liam, who would be later known as Newton. Even though he wasn’t that interested in science, Owen would often entertain his friend’s hobby because it made him happy, and if that meant he could drag Liam to a party occasionally.

Then came the accident. They gained incredible abilities and Owen thought this would bring them even closer together, but he wanted to do anything to help people with his new abilities and show the world who he was, whereas even though Liam admired Owen’s sentiments, he felt like they should hide it.

It drew the two apart. Liam went off to college, and Owen was busy being a hero.

Owen eventually went to school and was able to get a job where no one would expect Phaseshift to be. He became a kindergarten teacher. Even though being a hero was his priority, he loved being a teacher to those cute kids and it was also the place where he would meet his wife.
(This is describing young Phaseshift, he’s a bit different when he’s part of the “Oldguard”)

Miles Petrov Hardy - Blitz - Hero

Description

5'9" dark brown hair short but often messy and swept back because of the air resistance as he runs. Has a medium build.

His hero outfit is a skin tight air resistant suit that is white and red. His symbol is a large stylized comet across his chest, speed stripes along his arms and legs, light padding on his elbows, knees, and shoulders. He also has windshield like goggles to protect from anything that might get in his eyes. His mask covers everything except for his eyes, however he does have two respirator vents near his mouth so that he can breath better while running. Blitz also has two tonfa strapped to his back, because hitting something with his fists at speed will most likely break his arm.

Miles's everyday attire is very basic. Most of the time consisting of a tee shirt and jeans, or the uniform of the current job he has. He always wears his suit underneath his clothing just in case, carrying a backpack with him containing his mask, padding, and tonfa.

Miles is a jokester he comes off as not taking things serious enough as he probably should, but when he needs to take something seriously he will.

Background

Miles grew up in a small town far from the city.
His father Peter Markov is an illegal immigrant and later changed his name to his wife's last name and became Pete Hardy. His mother Marilyn Hardy had been in the same small town for as long as she can remember and wanted to get out almost as long, but everything changed when she had Miles.

Marilyn and Peter don't have powers, so they were surprised to find out that their child did. Around the age of 7 Miles and his parents discovered that he had super speed. At the beginning of this discovery his speed was comparable to the top speed of an Olympic runner. He quickly grew and developed his powers more and more. He kept it secret from everyone except for his parents. Miles dreamt of nothing more than to get to the city and become a hero just like PhaseShift or any other hero he saw on T.V. In highschool he was the best running back in the entire region, even while holding his powers back so to not be discovered. He was offered a full football scholarship to many universities, but he turned them all down. He said his goodbyes to his friends and family and left his small town life behind.

Now he lives in a small apartment and has had several delivery "driver" jobs while doing hero work. Even adopting a dog named Coach. After a mugger killed Coach's original owner, Miles took it upon himself to give him a home.

Noelle Owens - Fragment
Description
Noelle is about 5'3" and has short brown hair. She has brown eyes and uses glasses to help her see. She dresses so that she looks like a typical young adult but never wears anything that would have her stand out in a crowd. However, those who know her will notice that her footwear is closed-toed and practical for running away.

When she's in action, her outfit is designed to look like anyone else except for one brightly colored item, like a scarf or hat, and sunglasses. She does this to make any eyewitness focus on the item and not her face. After she's done her superpowered business, she discards the colorful item someplace far away from where she lives and works. Most o these items are stolen since she doesn't want any trace coming back to her.

Backstory
Noelle comes from a country where Variants are considered to be too dangerous to be free after an accident that one caused.

Her parents were glassblowers and were teaching her the craft. However one day while she was in the studio with her parents, they noticed her creating sculptures and manipulating the glass without touching it. Since Noelle was 6ish, she didn't understand what she was doing was signs of her Variance. Terrified of what should happen to their daughter, they told her to never use her power or else bad things would happen. "Conceal, don't feel" if you will.

For years, Noelle hid her power. The only time she used it was to adjust sculptures she made while glassblowing with her parents. However, she was always careful to keep it within the limits of what regular people could do. While she was growing up, there were always stories of Variant children going missing, usually being found in the hands of corrupt governments. Any Variants who popped up in her country were swiftly arrested and taken away. Very quickly she learned that only a lucky few became heroes. Everyone else was either exploited or imprisoned.

When she was 18, her family's studio came on hard times. Wanting to save her family's livelihood, she started experimenting with her power and created more elaborate sculptures. However, eventually it caught the eye of some dangerous people. They confronted her in a public area, attempting to blackmail her into working for them or being turned in. When that didn't work, they threatened her family. Something inside her snapped and she shattered the windows of every building around her, creating a tornado of glass.

Realizing what she'd done, she ran away in the confusion to her parents. It was the last time she saw them as they gave her all their cash so she could flee the country and start a new life.

With their money, she managed to flee the country and settle down somewhere else. To keep a cash flow, she started doing odd jobs here and there while trying to find an apprenticeship in a glassblowing studio. Her main money making venture is being a hero for hire. If people can afford her, she'll protect them. Rumors of her reached a hero named Unknown, who sends her jobs related to saving young Variants. This type of job is the only one she'll do for Unknown as she prefers to work alone.
