- Europe, 1945 — In what would've been the waning days of the Second World War , the anticipated V-E Day ultimately never came. Unbeknownst to the Allies, the Ahnenerbe think tank of the Schutzstaffel had made a breakthrough in their "heritage research", opening a webway into alternate dimensions through ancient artifacts discovered on an expedition years earlier.
Whilst they proved to be successful, though, what they then unleashed proved disastrous for the entire world.
Monstrous creatures and machinery would spew from the webway portal, bringing untold death and destruction to the already beleaguered Third Reich, and eventually, the Allies. The artillery of the Americans, the panzers of the Germans, the conscripts of the Russians—nothing seemed to put a dent in a military force that stopped for nothing. Their technology had been miles ahead of anything humanity could muster, and their ferocity remained unmatched. What ultimately would bring the end of the Old World, however, would be their ability to mutate human bodies into what is now dubbed "impure strains", wicked killing machines specially adapted for a task or purpose.
With these new strains, it was not long until this alien foe had conquered Europe and began their rather unstoppable push into the Soviet Union in preparation for something bigger—the end of the New World.
America, 1947 — When reports from Europe and other places of interest had begun to cease coming in, the New World and the few surviving governments-in-exile readied their defenses for an enemy that they ultimately knew little about. An enemy that would prove superior to their defenses, shredding through what defenses guarded the Americas with ease, made apparent by the sudden downfall of the United States and surrounding countries like Canada and Mexico.
For those who guarded one of the final bastions of humanity, the war was lost. Desertion was common, whilst others chose suicide, fully aware of the enemy they were fighting had been the mutated bodies of their once family and friends. That being said, not all faltered in the face of the enemy. A small, perhaps even lucky, group of survivors—a ragtag band of soldiers and civilians—have joined forces in a desperate attempt to escape the heavily bombed and infested city of Detroit, Michigan, and you are among them.
Will you escape, or will you be just another nameless victim of the war?
The Angels are largely borrowed from the Chimera from the Resistance series, albeit with minor alterations here and there.

A Brief Overview
Der Engels, or otherwise known as the Angels in English, are the monstrous beings that had been summoned by Ahnenerbe through the webway portal they had created. First thought to be the saviors of the Third Reich, these creatures, in an ironic twist of fate, would be the downfall of it and the world.
Though the Angels often vary greatly in appearance from one another—each specific strain fulfilling a niche role—as a species there exists two known types: pure and impure, which, in turn, have their own distinct make up. Whilst pure Angels appear humanoid and bipedal, behind their sharp fangs and glowing eyes is a mothership held together by thousands of tiny worm-like creatures. On the other hand, impure Angels have no specific appearance, as they are often made for specific purposes or tasks to advance the Angel war effort. Whereas one may appear like a scorpion or a gangly human, another may appear like a massive dinosaur-like creature or aquatic kraken.
For an impure Angel to form, a host must go through a transformation in one of the following ways: 1) through a spire attack, or 2) being cocooned.
With the former, small bug-like creatures known as Crawlers are released from spire missiles, and enter through the mouth or nose of a host, and in turn causes the host to fall into a coma as the creature becomes "one" with their host. Once the infection is completed, the comatose victims are then carted off by noncombatant carrier strains to conversion facilities, where they are then mutated into an Angel and equipped with implants to combat their instability, but also to increase their combat abilities. Should the need for bigger strains be apparent, the final step is skipped, and the body is mutated down along with other unfortunate souls to form one of the larger known strains.
If a conversion facility isn't nearby, or if a specific strain is in short supply, however, then the latter is often put into effect, and depending on who you ask, is the worse of the two ways. Launched in the same fashion as Crawlers are, creatures known as Spinners seek out potential hosts and inject them with toxic venom that causes the host to uncontrollably thrash about long enough for the victim to be cocooned. Once encased, the body then breaks down, and is rearranged into whatever strain is needed at the time.
Technology
Angel technology is considerably more advanced than anything humanity has to offer.
Firstly, an Angel may be implanted with various cybernetic augmentations such as jet packs or exterior armor, and to make matters worse, some of strains come equipped with highly advanced weaponry, such as a SMG that can tag foes so their shots never miss, or a rifle which can detect enemies through walls and in turn fire at them.
Nonetheless, though these features and weapons are marvels of technological advancement, they remain dwarfed by the Angels' considerable vehicle fleets. From the massive warships that hover in the sky to their AI-controlled war machines—with some being as tall as skyscrapers whilst others are as small as a car—the arsenal of humanity has little that can truly damage these vessels and machines outside of heavy shelling or countless tons of explosives.- Allow me to welcome you to Heavensfall's OOC.
Though this RP takes largely from the Resistance series, we will be focusing on a small group of survivors in a somewhat original WW2 setting, rather than be the souped-up, "saving the day" heroes of the alt-historical setting within the Resistance franchise.
