Name: Asher Clarmont

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Blood Status: Half blood

House: Slytherin

  • Personality: Like most of the wizards and witches that end up in Slytherin, Asher is a very cunning and resourceful teen who is fairly ambitious as well. Besides having the typical traits of a Slytherin, Asher does not hold himself up high like the majority of the Slytherin household because he doesn't view himself as better than those that belong to other houses. Asher is a friendly person, but this is hidden under his cold exterior. He acts cold towards people that he doesn't know or isn't close to as a way to protect himself from those who just want him because of his money. But once you get to know him and get past his cold front, you can find that he is a very friendly easy going person who is down to earth. He can be very stubborn when it comes to certain things. Asher cares deeply for those who are close to him and will put them before himself. He is a fairly reserved person and tends to keep things to himself and bottle it up, which leads to his bad habit of snapping at people because he just bottles things up inside.

Name: Anwen Walsh

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Blood Status: Pure Blood

House: Ravenclaw

  • Personality: Anwen is very reserved when it comes to people she doesn't know. She is more of a silent brain. She often sees conversation as a waste of time. Why talk when you could be reading instead and actually learning something? It's that attitude that put her in Ravenclaw. She is very intelligent with books but very unintelligent with people. Her mother is a very well-respected wizard that has made a number of large contributions to the wizarding world. Her father was unfortunately, killed in the line of battle against Voldemort as many people were.

However, he was killed when she was very young. Anwen doesn't even remember her father though her mother assures her that he was a wonderful man. Anwen has been promised to a wizard since birth and is expected to get married to him as soon as she graduates. Anwen has no opinion on the matter because she has never had a reason to not be okay with it yet. It logically makes sense for her to do so, she thinks. So she doesn't mention it to anyone. No one at the school knows except for her and her brothers. Anwen has never gotten close to anyone before so no one knows what she's like when she does. She's seen as the mystery of all of the people in their year. No one really knows what she's like at all and she doesn't talk much. The only clue anyone has to how she acts is when they can get her older brothers to talk about her. Those things are rarely kind or true. There are a lot of rumors about her that go around but no one can ever confirm nor deny them. She doesn't judge anyone with any blood type or anyone from any house considering her oldest brother is from Gryffindor and her second oldest brother is from Slytherin. Her family is often talked about because they have someone well-known from each house in their family. Anwen has a lot of pressure on her to make her mark at this school as her parent's did before her and her brothers already have.

It was the first day of classes, and Asher was ready for what ever the potions class was going to throw at

him. He usually wasn't this cheery or ready for classes, but potions was one of his favorites. Also, since it's advanced potions class, he knew that he was going to be surrounded by people that knew what they were doing, so the chances of him getting his face blasted from some kid putting in the wrong ingredient was highly unlikely. Although, he couldn't help but wonder who Professor Snape was going to assign as his partner. He didn't care really, as long as his partner wasn't a total wreck that would screw things up half the time, he didn't care who he was going to be stuck with. Actually, he didn't want to be stuck with anyone from the Slytherin household because he would most likely end up doing all the work; some weren't that bad, and would help him, but most of the Slytherin household would have sat there and did nothing the whole class.

Sighing, Asher pulled out his wand and looked at it for a bit before tucking it away when the bell rang,

indicating that class was starting. Next to him sat a random kid from the Hufflepuff household. The table before him sat a pair of Ravenclaw girls. "Alright class, this is advance potions one, if you are not suppose to be here then leave." Professor Snape said in his dull voice as he stood at the front of the classroom. He waited a minute for the kids who weren't suppose to be in the class to leave before getting started. "Alright, to start off I will assign you your partners for the entire year," everyone groaned at the sound of this, "There will be no complaining. If I see you switching then there will be consequences along with deductions of house points. Now, everyone in the left seat move up one row, the person you end up with will be your partner." Asher looked at himself, and smiled lightly when he realized that he didn't have to move. He was comfortable in his seat, and he just felt a little to lazy to move.

(Hope this is good enough for a start)

Anwen was sitting behind him and had to move up and sit with him. She knew who the other Ravenclaw girls in class were but didn't really like being with them because they would try but most of them would put a wrong ingredient in. Anwen didn't speak to him because she didn't talk to strangers much even if they had to work together. She knew how to do anything that Professor Snape would tell them to do because her older brother Kalorn had thoroughly prepared her for this class. He had been very hard on her about not wasting Professor Snape's time so she was very prepared for this class and hoped to be able to do everything without talking. She hated talking about anything that she wasn't required to talk about and was told that Professor Snape didn't actually like when his students talked. That was lucky for her because she didn't plan to. She was paying attention to the teacher after she had joined Asher. She didn't bother with the exchange of names because she didn't feel like she needed to know his name. As far as she knew they only had this class together. She looked around the room for a minute because she actually hadn't done so yet. Many people from many different houses and she only knew a few of them. Her eyes finally landed on the guy next to her. She only examined him for a moment before returning her attention back to the teacher. She was fully listening to the teacher even though he had given everyone a moment to switch spots. She decided she was going to avoid any sort of interaction with him. He seemed like some sort of guy that was almost like her older brother. He was a Slytherin so obviously he must know her brother due to the fact that he's the prefect for that house. But she doubted he knew that she was his sister. She didn't intend on telling him either. It wasn't on a need to know basis. Often if anyone knew who she was it was because of Cheren because she looks like her oldest brother more than Kalorn. She masked the fact that she couldn't wait to learn more about potions this year. She loved learning new things and she couldn't wait until she got to do so.

"Alright, let's get started. Turn your books to page 273 and brew the potion that is on the page. If I am not

mistaken, the potion should be the Befuddlement Draught potion." Professor Snape sat down after he gave the class their assignment. Asher was familiar with the potion, he had created a few times with his father so he knew how everything went.

Asher made a quick mental note of all the ingredients before turning to his partner. "Hey, can you handle preparing the dry

ingredients while I start up the cauldron and handle the liquid part of the potion? I'll give you hand with the dry ingredients once I'm done with the liquid part." Asher asked, looking down at Anwen. He was very tall compared to her, but then again, he was a tall guy in general, reaching 5'11, nearly pushing six feet. He was somewhat thankful that the ingredients were set out on their tables for them, otherwise the class would have been in chaos as students made a run for the ingredient table, and that usually doesn't end well because grabby hands knock things over. Things mix. Need there be more to say? Asher was about to ask her for her name, but caught a glimpse of it on her notebook. So, he tossed the question away. He felt like he should give her his name, but she didn't ask so he decided to let it be.

(Sorry if it's a little short, I gtg for a while)

(It's not short at all. It's fine. I'll be here all night.)

Anwen nodded in response and immediately began correctly preparing the dry ingredients. He didn't have to look down that far as she was 5'7 so she wasn't exactly short for a girl. She saw him glance at her notebook and immediately knew that he did know what her name was. She wasn't an idiot and she had followed his eyes when he had looked. She wouldn't bother with asking his name because she still didn't care. It didn't matter to her. Her name was fairly unique so she knew if he heard anything about her later from one of her brothers or had already, then he knew who she was. Not that him knowing who she was bothered her. She continued to perfectly execute the task she was given by him and did it fairly efficiently. She wouldn't need his help because by the time he was done she would also be done. She knew that the ingredients had been set out because of how organized Professor Snape was. No one else was quite as organized as this professor. Every other professor would just let you go fight for ingredients. That was a positive thing she had heard from her brother about Professor Snape. One of her first thoughts about her partner was that he was rather nosy with the way he had found her name out. That didn't bother her as much as it seemed to her that he thought her an idiot or at the very least incapable. She couldn't really hold that against him either though. Most people were in this class. Or any other class for that matter. But she was very capable of doing what he had asked. However, she didn't want to disagree with him about her playing such a small part because that would require speaking.

Asher measured and mixed the liquid ingredients into the cauldron, double checking before he put the

ingredient into the pot. He always double checked the ingredient and his measuring before adding any ingredient in. It was a habit of his that he had developed, a good one in his point of view. Asher wondered if Anwen was Kalorn's little sister. The Slytherin prefect of his talked about his little sister with one of his friends, and Asher just happened to overhear the conversation. No, he did not consider ease dropping per say because it wasn't like he was intentionally listening in, he just heard the conversation and decided to pay attention. He vaguely remembered the name Anwen being said, and he was going to take a shot in the dark and say that his partner is Kalorn's younger sibling.

Once Asher was done mixing together the liquid part of the potion, he turned his attention to Anwen. "Whelp,

I'm done with the liquid part of the potion, so you can just add in the dry ingredients when ever you are ready." He gave her a small smile at the end. His eyes wondered around the classroom, checking out the progress of his classmates. He lightly chuckled to himself when he spotted a pair screwing up the potion, the fact that it was one of his friends made it even more funny and amusing in a way. After he had done his little sweep of the classroom, his eyes went up front to the two bottles of liquid luck that sat up front on Professor Snape's desk. The liquid luck potion was the reward for the pair that manages to brew the potion correctly, and Asher felt pretty confident that him and Anwen were going to win the potion.

Anwen also had a habit of reviewing what she had done before adding the ingredients. She did so and found that everything was correct as she had thought. She added the ingredients and the brew did exactly as was expected and gave the sign that they had executed it correctly. She thought it was odd that he had smiled at her at all. No one had ever bothered to even look at her unless they were working together and had to. He must just be trying to be polite for the sake of the partnership. She knew what the reward was for doing it correctly. She wasn't at all proceeding with the brew with any care for that. She always did everything strictly for the sake of learning how to do so. Knowledge was the most important thing to Anwen and that was all she cared about. She had now learned how to make something else with ease. It had worked and now she knows how to make it. The way he had acted the entire time to her seemed, off to say the least. She didn't understand it at all. Most people didn't act the way he acted. But then, no one at this school acts particularly normal. Class was only half way over and they were already done. She was curious as to what they would be doing with the rest of their class time.

Asher scratched the side of his head as he thought about what to do for the next half of the class. Apparently

him and his partner got done with the potion earlier than expected, and now they had nothing to do. Well, they had nothing left to do in that class, but Asher had some stuff he could do to prepare himself for the rest of his classes. So, that's what he decided to do in order to pass the time, he just prepped himself for his next class which was a class all about defensive spells. No, not defense against the dark arts. This class was about defense against everything. Asher never had a thing for attack spells, he doesn't know why, but defensive magic captivated him to no end. It interested him so much that he looked further into it on his free time. The only thing that saddened him was that he couldn't practice it much per say because he needed a partner to fire spells at him in order to make most of the defense spells to work.

Asher remained quiet and kept to himself as he read through his spell book that he had read through nearly a

thousand times. He had memorized most of the spells and can cast most of them without the incantation. Silent spells were kind of his thing, and he actually preferred silent spells because it didn't require him to talk. Time just seem to fly as he studied quietly by himself.

Anwen had began reading her book on the subject she currently wanted to know more about. She got caught up in her book and learned so much that she had pretty much memorized everything in the book by the time class was over and everyone else was finishing up. When the teacher had began to start speaking again, she politely bookmarked her page and gave him her full attention. He must be wanting to say something about the potion in general and how everyone did and such. The only people she gave undivided respect and attention were her family, because they were all older than her, and her professors for obvious reasons. She had no intention of giving respect or attention to anyone else unless absolutely necessary. She hadn't found it necessary with anyone else yet and hoped she wouldn't. She had to admit though, her partner was most pleasant after he had finished his work. He had been quiet and that was what she was fond of and appreciated. When people were voluntarily quiet.

"I am fairly disappointed with the results of this class. I had expected more from those who got into the

advanced class. Out of the ten groups, only three had managed to correctly brew the potion. The rest of you didn't even come close. Such disappointment," Professor Snape said, pausing a bit as he gave some of the students a disappointed look before continuing, "Now, out of the three groups that brewed it correctly, only one had the desired effects. The other two did as well but the potion was not as potent as the one brewed by none other than Mister Clarmont and Miss Walsh. Then again, I expected no less from those two," he said, pausing again to turn around and grab the two bottles of liquid luck, "As promised," he hands a bottle of liquid luck to both of the two students, "A vile of liquid luck to those that can successfully brew the Befuddlement Draught potion."

Asher nodded politely as he took the liquid luck from Professor Snape, "Thank you." He highly respected the

professor because he was an excellent potion's master at the school. Plus he respected him because he was a professor. Asher was taught to respect those with power and those who are his elders, and never once had he broke that rule. Once that was over, Professor Snape gave them their homework, which was a partner paper with their assigned partners. They were to write about love potions and brew one to turn in with their paper. Asher turned his head and looked at Anwen, "Do you want to meet in the library two hours before dinner to work on the paper? Then we can brew a potion after dinner if that's fine with you."

Anwen also thanked Professor Snape for the reward though she hadn't really wanted it. She put it away in her potion case that she kept with her things. After that she looked at Asher for a moment and then thought about what he had asked. She supposed it wouldn't be the end of the world. Better to get it over with she supposed. The thought of making a love potion concerned her though. Wherever they were put after they were created, if someone got their hands on them, it could be very catastrophic. If any of the idiots screwed up the homework, they could create something else entirely, something dangerous. That could be very bad. However, it wouldn't be Anwen's problem so she decided not to worry about it. She couldn't help but wonder why Professor Snape decided to assign them that potion out of all of the potions they could've been assigned considering if it went very wrong there were bad consequences. After all, there were serious idiots in their class that had destroyed their potion. But again, she decided that it wasn't her problem. She thought about what her schedule was like. She had training with her brothers at some points in the day, but fortunately she didn't remember having anything scheduled with either of her brothers in that time-frame. Anwen nodded in agreement and said but one word. "Okay." Then she packed up the rest of her things as class was over.

'Wow, I think that's the first word or sound that she's made ever since class started.'

Asher thought when he

heard her reply to him with an actual word. He had somewhat expected her to stop at the nod, but the 'okay' surprised him. Not that he mind, he had wondered what her voice sounded like. He started tow wonder if she was going to talk more as the year went on. Asher wasn't a talkative guy himself, but he enjoyed having a conversation here and there, even if it's a short one.

~Time Skip~

Asher made his way to the library once his last class was over, he had no forgotten about his little meeting

that he had set up with Eva. As he made his way to the library, he wondered about why professor Snape chose love potions instead of something more simpler. Not that he was complaining, he always did like a challenge, but a love potion right off the bat was kinda hard. Asher knew how tricky love potions could be, and brewing one was going to be a challenge all together, but he was up for that challenge. The only problem that was posed were the ingredients. Whatever potion they will decide on later, they would have to find a way to obtain to ingredients somehow. They couldn't just go to Diagon Alley because the stores there don't sell certain ingredients to students.

Oh well, he decided that the ingredients would be worked out after they decide on the potion that they

were going to brew. Asher sat down at an empty table after pulling out some books on love potions, and he waited for Anwen to arrive. He started to do some research as he waited for her to arrive.

A web calmly and quietly join d him at the time they had discussed. She sat across from him so it was easier to show each other things and work together. She didn't really like the arrangement of working together with someone, but it couldn't be helped. She didn't plan on speaking throughout either meeting with him today. She only spoke in sentences to her brothers when she was obligated to. Some teachers asked her questions that she could always find a one worded answer for. But every now and then someone would ask her a question that required a full sentence to answer. That was usually her brothers, who used it as a way of teasing her and also used it to make sure she could still speak. Teachers knew it was futile at this point to try and get her to speak. It never turned out successfully for them. It had occurred to her that gathering ingredients for some of these potions would be quite difficult. But she figured that they would, or rather he would, probably figure that out. She would help him figure it out if she was needed but she couldn't help but feel like neither of them really needed each other. For anything, much less any of their classes. She watched him and waited for him to say something because she certainly wasn't going to.

Asher greeted her with a small smile when she sat down in front of him, but didn't verbally greet her, he was

pretty sure that the smile would suffice. He had returned to the paper once he smiled at her, writing down the rest of his sentence on the paper before looking up at her. "I wrote some stuff down to get us started on the paper. Can you look at it to make sure that it's okay so far? Oh, and did you have any love potion in mind that you wanted to brew?" Asher felt like he was talking to much, but he had to make sure that she was okay with what he had down so far on the paper, and he wanted to know if she had some potion in mind. He didn't want to do everything, he wanted to include her as well, considering how she's his partner. He wanted to know what potion that they were going to brew so that he could work out the ingredients. Even though he wanted to do one of the more simpler potions, he knew that they would need to brew one of the more difficult potions if they wanted to impress professor Snape and have a higher chance at a good grade. Asher had thought about his parents, he was thinking of having them zap whatever he needed.

Anwen shook her head when he asked if she had any ideas about the potion. It wasn't that she didn't have any idea. It was that she didn't really care and she knew whatever they made would work. That was all that mattered really. Then she read over what he had written. It was all okay, but it wasn't what she would've written or how she would've written it. But it was fine so she handed it back and waited for him to continue. She didn't want to suggest anything because she didn't have a large preference though she knew what would be the most impressive and right on their capabilities. She was certain he could come to the same conclusion on his own though. She was only there because Professor Snape had made it a group project and she didn't want to look bad nor did she want to disobey the professor. She still didn't think they really needed each other though. They were both very smart but in different ways. The ways were similar enough though, that they could understand each other. That was proof that either of them could work alone and be fine and they could tolerate working together. She was willing to go with whatever he wanted to do because she had a very opened mind and didn't feel as though she needed the control.

"Well, if you don't mind then I was thinking that we brew the Amortentia potion. It's one of the more

advanced ones, and I think that it'll get us good marks. I have no doubt that we'll pull off brewing this potion." Asher felt pretty confident about the two of them pulling the potion off. Plus he could get his hands on the ingredients pretty easily because he knew that his mother kept the ingredients in the kitchen cabinet of their home. Asher wrote down some more stuff on the paper and reworded what he wrote before so that it sounded more educated before handing it to Anwen, "I feel like I'm missing some stuff, but I can't pull it out of my head." He knew that there was more that he could write down, but the information was just refusing to leave his head. It was one of those feelings where you want to say a certain word, but you don't know it, but it's at the tip of your tongue. "Can you add more? You seem like a smart girl that can add in a lot more to the paper and make it better." He said as he ran a hand through his hair.

Anwen agreed with the potion choice, but wasn't sure about the adding to it. She knew immediately what he had left out and decided to add it. She adapted her writing to the tone he had set and then handed it back to him. She didn't really care about the teamwork aspect of this project but he appeared to be taking an interest in it. She didn't mind but she didn't really support teamwork and she knew she never would. She found him uncomfortable though. At least being around him made her uncomfortable so she knew she would probably be avoiding him outside of the classes they shared. She didn't feel the need to make herself uncomfortable when it could be avoided. She just waited for him again so they could get this over with.

Asher read over the paper and deemed it high mark worthy, well in his eyes it was high mark worthy, and handed it back to her, "Do you think you can keep it? I don't want anyone from my house snatching it while I'm sleeping and turn it in as their own work tomorrow. I can brew the potion tonight and it should be done in the morning, if you want to pop by and help then you can but you don't have to." Asher could manage brewing the potion, he had brewed it twice so he was fairly familiar with the whole process and everything. He wasn't worried about someone taking the potion though because it would take the whole night to brew and he would wake up way before it finished brewing so he could keep an eye on it. "Does that sound alright to you?"

Anwen nodded and took it, putting it with her things. After that, she waited to make sure he was finished speaking before she left because though she wanted to get away, she wasn't a rude person. She didn't want to just up and leave before he was done because that wasn't the way she was raised. As soon as he was finished though, she'd be up and out of there. She didn't want to go with him and help with the potion if she didn't have to. She knew he could handle it so why should she have to deal with it? She didn't and so she wouldn't. She still also refused to speak until necessary. So she was waiting on him to say that he was finished.

"Alright, well I'll see you tomorrow in class then," he said, smiling as he stood up from his seat, "Have a nice evening." Then, he left after giving her a small wave. Asher went to dinner, sitting at his house table like every other student. He didn't pay attention much during dinner, not like there was much to pay attention to. Once dinner was over, he went back to his living quarters to get started on the potion. He got out the ingredients that he had before he went to scour for the rest of the ingredients. He decided to ask his house prefect to see if they had any that he needed in the house storage before going to his parents. "Hey Kalorn? Could you let me into the house storage so that I can see if it has the ingredients I need for a potion?" He asked the older boy after he approached him. Asher was on good terms with his prefect, so he wasn't shy to ask him for certain things at times.

Kalorn examined his expression for a moment before replying. "And what potion might that be?" He asked because he was authorized and required to do so. Otherwise he couldn't give him access. Anwen hadn't eaten much because she usually didn't and went to study early before anyone else had gotten back. She sat on a chair reading until she had something else to do. She wasn't interrupted by anyone for a pretty long time until others came in and started talking. Not about anything that wasn't important of course. But she did decide to stop reading then because they were talking fairly loudly. She sighed and sat there observing for quite a while.

"My partner and I decided to make an Amortentia potion for advanced potions one, and I'm missing some ingredients and was wondering if we had some here." Asher answered truthfully, he saw no point in lying or anything, he felt the need to add that it was for a class though because he had a feeling that Kalorn wasn't going to let him into the storage if it wasn't for a class and it was just for personal gain. Asher waited patiently for the older teen's answer as he let his mind wonder to the list of ingredients that he was missing. He wasn't missing much, it was just a small handful of ingredients.

Kalorn thought about and processed what he had said. "Alright follow me." Only the prefects really knew where to go to get there and that was set up that way on purpose. He had to follow him to get there. He led him there without another word. He was going to have to supervise him when he was in there for obvious reasons. Anwen decided to walk around as she was waiting for something on her schedule to come up. That could take a while.
