welcome to the character sheet thread of greenwood falls! here we'll post our characters!

plot for reference!:
greenwood falls was said to be a myth, a legend, nonexistent. but, it does indeed exist however it is extremely hard to find it because of how secluded and off the grid it seems. it is said to be full of supernatural creatures, a variety of them in fact, and they live together in one big neighborhood! well, some humans have stumbled across greenwood falls one day, and thankfully there's no sign saying WELCOME TO GREENWOOD FALLS right outside the neighborhood. the residents are alarmed and shocked that humans have crossed over into their territory to be exact, but they can't let it get out that they are of supernatural origin. so what do they do? they welcome the humans into their neighborhood while trying their best to blend in!

    Personality
    
    Damien is the opposite of what one would normally think of as a fire elemental. Softspoken and observant, he's constantly watching the people around him and noting little things about people. He's more of a shadow than a person, preferring to be a fly on the wall rather than any kind of front and center person. There is not an aggressive bone in his body, and frankly the idea of getting him to act, even nonconfrontationally, would be a feat. He doesn't do a single thing until he has all of the information available, which means he acts very deliberately. However, this slowness often means that he isn't the best for actually getting things done.
    
    Go to him for information, because he has an excellent eye for observation and is very detail-oriented and a people watcher. But never go to him if you want someone who will actually act upon the information he's given.

    Backstory

    Damien was abandoned as a baby. Where did he come from? Even he doesn't know. But his primary caretaker found him in the Appalachian mountains and took him in. She was a part of a big commune of traveling fire elementals, as they were not accepted most places due to their... more fiery and brash natures. So he was raised by them among the other children. His childhood was surprisingly happy, growing up as being raised by the community. But he didn't really fit in. Most of the other fire elementals were brash and loud or they were at least temperamental. He was always a quiet kid, more into books really (much to his dismay, books were usually flammable). So he decided to strike out on his own. He did odd jobs here and there and hitchhiked across America, sleeping in libraries and trying not to cause too many incidents on his way over. Eventually he managed to travel to Britain where he immediately almost immediately completely burned a small village down of people. He continued onwards, concealing his identity until he made it to Greenwood where he's stayed ever since.

    True Form
    Damien is literally made of fire. His body is really just molten rock and glass with a glamor over it to make it look/feel human. Therefore, he is immune to fire, and has pyrokinesis and "summon" fire. He also uses a variety of different fire magics that he has learned from the commune that he used to live in, creating a very well-rounded pyro... Though it should be noted that once you take away his fire, he really has nothing left except smacking someone over the head with a book...

    After his mother forced him to shave his head as a kid, Auguste allowed his hair to grow out long when he escaped the household. It's become a curtain for him to hide behind. It's kind of a shaggy wavy mess but he likes it because at least he has hair now. It's dark and adds to his intimidation factor, and the white patch in it only serves to make him appear as even more disheveled, but he would never think of dying his hair fully one color because it was one of the few things he inherited from his father that he could keep.     While he's alright with modifications on other people, Auguste never really found the need to make himself modified in any way. That being said, there's a tattoo on his bicep of the logo from the illegal fight club he'd been working for before he managed to escape. The tattoo wasn't necessarily put on willingly on his part, so he is looking to remove it. It's kind of turned him off of the whole "body art" thing, though again he's supportive of people who want to do that themselves. Besides that, he has scars all around his body from the different abuses he's suffered. The scar on his lips is from eating a brick bench, the scar on his forehead is from saving Charlie from some of the angry fight club members.     Auguste is massive. He's really just... a giant that is pretending to be human. Muscular and toned from the years of fighting and dancing, and trying to keep his body in shape, Auguste is just... massive. And terrifying to behold. If it wasn't for his more gentle nature, and the fact that he hasn't actually murdered anybody yet, it would be very easy to mistake him for a murderer or a criminal. There's also always an air of danger when he's present, especially for strangers who aren't necessarily used to looking at the 6'7 muscular man who is currently "glaring" at them and looks like he took a knife to the face.

    Auguste is actually a very good listener and a very gentle person by nature. He loves nature and loves the ocean, and the beach and the sun and warmth. He also doesn't mind having fun every now and then. Socialization with new people may be scary, but Auguste is very loyal to the people that actually manage to befriend him. He also doesn't mind people using him to scare others, and will actually play along with things
    
    Also despite his terrifying appearance, he's actually very emotionally intelligent and generally a suprisingly empathetic guy, usually speaking in a soft, gentle tone.     Auguste was born to a dancer wolfman and a nurse in Madrid Spain. He was born with melodies in his head and rhythm in his soul and began learning music as soon as he possibly could. This was also supplemented with dance lessons from his father, and his household was happy. And then his father died, leaving Auguste traumatized and his mother's mind shattered. She moved them to France to be closer to her family. And she began trying to change Auguste. Auguste looked like a mini version of his father, even inheriting his more melancholic nature. And his mother hated that. So, she beat the emotions out of Auguste, until he no longer felt things, or had any resemblance to his father.

    Auguste's teenage years was half dedicated to violence. He joined an illegal street fighting ring when people realized that people enjoyed watching a scrawny kid beat people up much stronger than him. And then when he had his growth spurt to 6'7, he got even more booking as he became even more terrifying. And this was affecting his life outside the ring as well as he became violent at school, though he never raised a hand against his mother. He was still beaten at home, and his job was to be beaten in front of a crowd. And he would beat poeople up at school. Blood and violence surrounded him and was beginning to suffocate him. That's when Charlie finally stepped in, pretty randomly one day fixating upon learning guitar. And Auguste agreed to teach his only remaining friend. Charlie's lessons began eating up more and more of Auguste's time, as he got roped into joining Charlie's punk rock band. The angry music began to take over how he was releasing his anger and pain upon the world until one day, he was completely free from the shackles of his addiction to violence.     Auguste's life in university was interesting. First of all, apparently he was gay. Which was awkward to figure out when he was just getting physical with his first - and only - girlfriend. More embarrassing hijinks occurred during his university years as he learned more and grew. Auguste also began dancing once more, and composing. He graduated from university with a degree in music composition. He also started producing music under the masked persona Cerberus, learning that he really had a knack for it as Cerberus's name got bigger and bigger. He doesn't really know how it happened, but all of the sudden he was in an enviable position of having a succeessful brand and arts career while not having to sacrifice his anonymity. He decided to move out to Scotland in order to keep his anonymity and remain close with the nature he loved so much. But at the same time, he's absolutely terrified of her.       Charlie is a naturally charismatic person. This natural charisma shows itself as a perpetually sunshine, goofy guy that is down to clown at any moment of the day. He gets along with people fantastically, even across a language barrier which helps immensely when he's trying to talk to a bunch of English speakers in a French town. It also helps when he's trying to just in general make friends that he's all around known as a "friendly dude."       Charlie is very much a people pleaser. This means, essentially, that he is a liar and will manipulate situations in order to keep anything from reflecting upon himself. It's a struggle for Charlie and frankly if he didn't grow up in a bilingual household, he would not even know Portuguese. With that being said, his Portuguese is very French with a terribly thick accent but he understands it much better than English. That is to say, they owned the land that they worked upon and somewhere along the way their genetics intermingled with angels. His family are mostly goat farmers, primarily, though they also grow enough produce, varied enough at the very least, to be sustainable. They also keep bees as well. He grew up as the youngest of five, and while generally the Chapelieres had your average slightly misogynistic inheritance - eldest male gets the farm - they had an odd catch: the one who presents as an angel inherits the farm. And Charlie was born with yellow rays in his left eye, and brown wings that can disappear and reappear at will, making him the heir to the farm and the fortune. So he was groomed from a young age to take on the responsibility of the family business, simoultaneously becoming an arrogant shit and a people pleaser at the same time as he had to please both his older brothers, who were slightly annoyed at being shafted out of their potential inheritance, and his parents raising him up as a wealthy heir.
      
      This lead to elementary school where he was popular with the little gits. And he did a lot of things that little gits do: bully the weird outsider with a shaved head and a weird accent in his French. One day, he and the little gits chased the poor kid up a tree, and threw things up at him to get him down. Eventually, Charlie had the bright idea to shake the branch until the kid fell out, Charlie succeeded in shaking the poor kid out... until the kid directly faceplanted into a brick bench. One completely busted lip, a black eye, and a semi-coherent child later, the bullies scattered, but Charlie immediately felt absolutely awful and took the kid home where he was immediately taken to the hospital and checked for a concussion by Charlie's worried parents.
      
      And that was the start to a beautiful friendship between Auguste and Charlie.
      
      Charlie spent the rest of his time trying to help shelter Auguste from his mother, while also maintaining a perfect record and a well-balanced social life and three different sports.       Charlie went to a different school than Auguste, and he still feels mild guilt over the dark turn that Auguste took when he began getting inducted into the fighting rings. Of course, Charlie was continuing to be the Perfect Son, much to his brothers' disappointment. Perfect grades, star of the football/rugby team, flawless attendance, one of the most popular people at school. The arrogant little shit had not had his pride blown until one day Auguste showed up to his doorstep, on his last legs and shaking like a leaf.
      
      It was a slight blow to his pride that in his efforts to be perfect, Auguste had fallen to the wayside. So, Charlie asked Auguste to do the one thing he knew would always make Auguste beam: teach him guitar and dance. Was Charlie manipulating Auguste's well-known (in his mind) love of music and dance in order for his own gain? Well, yes. But the people Auguste was hanging around... Charlie saw one of Auguste's fights, and he knew something had to change. People changed, yes, but not as drastically as Auguste had changed. So Charlie miiiight have manipulated his friendship with Auguste and purposefully forced Auguste to spend more and more time with him and less time with the ruffians in order to teach him "just that ONE riff of guitar I just CAN'T get right, show me again please??" And then, when he saw that it wasn't enough, he MIIIIIIIGHT'VE guilt-tripped Auguste into joining a garage punk band that he was starting with a couple of his friends.... And, when it was apparent that they had no skill outside him and Auguste, he MIIIIIIGHT'VE guilt-tripped Auguste into composing for them.
      
      But hey, Auguste was now throwing himself into performance and music and dance and composing once more and was no longer hanging around the thugs and getting into fights all the time, and they got a PRETTY GOOD self-published album out of the deal, if Charlie did say so himself. Win-Win scenario.
      
      Yeah he was still an arrogant shit, but what was anyone going to do about it? He was a rebel. He was perfect. Life had been pretty smooth-sailing for him so far.       Charlie made a radical change his freshman year to his lifestyle: instead of a business degree, he was going for a robotics engineering degree. Yes, I know, so rebellious. One respected degree for another. But, he found that math and science were his strongest suits. Robots just made sense to him, and building things really was his passion. Therefore, he was going against his parents' carefully constructed plan and BOY were they mad. Not mad enough to cut off his funding, but he did get an earful, thank you very much. And then he met Maria. She was a looker, and she didn't fawn over his amazing charms at first glance. Told him he was ARROGANT of all things, imagine the nerve. Well, by the end of Freshman year they were dating pretty solidly and were becoming the university's power couple so HAH. There. Proved you wrong, Past Maria.
      
      Maria somehow managed to calm the brashness and the recklessness out of Charlie. He didn't really know how she did it, but he found himself wanting to be better, wanting to make himself be perfect for Maria. Not perfect in general, for once in his life, but perfect for her. Maybe a bit fucked up, maybe a bit hyper, but... he could definitely tone the ego down a little bit. Calm down a bit. He could actually see a future with her. And miraculously... she did too. And even better, their research was going hand in hand. They worked together, played together, talked a lot about the future and what they wanted... Found that.. miraculously, they were pretty in sync. Of course, Charlie wanted to go into robotics engineering, Maria was in biochemistry. They both wanted to save lives, settle down, have a family. By the end of Sophomore year, they were pretty sure they were going to get married. By Junior year, they were engaged, against the wishes of Maria's parents.
      
      Halfway through Junior year, it all went to shit. Charlie made a shitty decision. The two of them were drunk. Maria told Charlie that she wanted to get a cab, instead of their equally inebriated friend taking them home. Charlie told her it was going to be fine. It was not fine. One car crash later, Charlie crawled out of the wreck, praying that Maria was still alive.
      
      She didn't make it to the ambulance.
      
      He woke up without his right leg, his left wing and a feeling of dread and terror at the thought of ever entering another car again. And to be completely honest, he doesn't remember much of the next year, through the hazy parts of grief and drunkeness he vaguely remembers bits and pieces. At some point, he called his parents, told them the wedding was off. Somewhere, he took a gap year, though he thinks he couch surfed in a half-drunk stupor the entire time. Every time someone would try to get him sober, he'd just move on to the next former friend. Being popular through most of your life did that to you. He also vaguely remembers not being able to go to the funeral. And not being able to return Maria's things to her parents. Not that it really mattered.
      
      Somewhere, Auguste came back from his fancy arts university on holiday and forced Charlie to go back to university. He finished his degree, but it didn't really matter to him anymore. Nothing did. And then he fell across some half-assed blueprints that he and Maria had created with her knowledge of anatomy and his knowledge of robotics. Robotic prosthetics. And that's what he threw himself into.
      
      Two robotic prosthetics later, Charlie began changing his life for the better. One, by stubbornly getting over his fear of cars by learning exactly how they worked and learning how to drive them expertly. Two, by drinking in moderation. He can also make his wings appear and disappear at will. However, this doesn't overshadow the fact that one of his wings and one of his legs is cybernetic. They were mangled beyond repair in a crash and it's only through cybernetic prosthetics that his flight was returned to him.     Personality
    Lucas is, in a word, an asshole. Cold and arrogant, he seems above, unaffected by everyone around him. He has a wicked tongue that he uses to lash at everyone around him, and he is willing to fight those around him for seemingly any insignificant little slight, both imagined and real. His insults are usually backed with long strings of curses and he calls people out on their bullshit at the drop of the hat, leading to a very tenuous balance in his relationships.
    
    However, this is hiding the truth of Lucas. He's a naturally a showman, but he's closed himself off from the world because of the immense trauma and isolation he suffered as a fledgling. This has led him to being immensely socially awkward and even though he is extremely critical to everyone around him, it's also apparent that he holds those same standards to himself.

    Backstory

    Lucas was born as the second phoenix baby to a family in a small American town, living incognito. His mother was a phoenix. He was born a natural showman and loved performacne as a kid, but his father was an alcoholic and was fired from his job at the police station. His father was increasingly abusive, and his motherfought back one day, only to be locked in an insane asylum. His sister practically raised him in the abusive household, but she graduated from college pretty quickly, leading Lucas to developing a nasty temper and a cold unfeeling expressionless face and a childhood delinquency streak.
    
    Eventually, his mother won the court case, and he was taken in by his mother and his grandparents who tried rehabilitating him to very little success. He instead went to a trade school and became a handyman, deciding to move out to Scotland to get away from everyone, needing a fresh start.
