Gotham City - The Story So Far...

"I can't help it if I'm smart."
Synopsis/Summary for the main 'Gotham City" story arc-

Defense attorney Barbara Gordon receives a call from crime lord Charlize Sinclair to bail her and Harley Quinn out of Arkham Asylum.  Instead, the pair stage a prison break, freeing all the other inmates, including Killer Croc and Poison Ivy.  Caught in the middle Barbara (as Batgirl) is abducted by Harley, Charlize and Croc.

She is taken to the Gotham Arms Hotel, a mob hotel run by Carmine Falcone where Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow happens to be staying as one of the guests.  The hotel desk clerk tips off the Falcone mob about Harley, Charlize, and Croc.  One of Falcone's capos sends a team of goons to deal with them.  In the ensuing ruckus, Crane releases fear toxin throughout the hotel and makes his escape.  He is caught by Nightwing and a mysterious figure calling himself 'The Doctor.'  Meanwhile, Batgirl has managed to free herself and apprehends Harley, Charlize, and Croc.  She also catches Dexter O'Reilly, a vigilante seeking revenge against  Falcone, just after Dex murders one of Falcone's men who also happens to one of Dex's old gang partners.  Also, Poision Ivy has managed to track down Harley to the hotel but is too late to free her.

Curious about Dex, Barbara, again acting as defense attorney, arrives at the GCPD, to interview Dex.  Having a feeling that there is good within him, Babs frees Dex on bail and the two work as partners to track down and take in the rest of Dex's old gang.  Meanwhile, Ivy intends to break Harley out of custody and enlists Mr Freeze's help by holding the diamonds he's stolen from a jewelry heist as ransom.  The Doctor, who's real name is Ronan, frees Scarecrow from custody, and tries to recruit him and other Gotham supervillians to his cause.  However, Crane refuses Ronan's offer and is shot dead  The freelance assassin Deadshot accepts a bounty on Batgirl's head, trailing Freeze and Ivy to the GCPD.

At the GCPD, Tim Drake, worried that Ivy might be coming to free Harley, tells Commissioner Gordon and Batgirl.  Batgirl and Dex arrive just as Freeze and Ivy, joined by Catwoman, begin their attack.  During the battle, Batgirl is brainwashed by Ivy and savagely beats Robin.  Ivy and Harley are reunited and make their getaway.  Catwoman, Freeze, and Croc also make their escapes.  Batgirl recovers from her brainwashing to realize what she's done only to be knocked out by Deadshot.  Ronan contacts him and offers twice the bounty to take Batgirl prisoner.  Deadshot accepts, locking up the unconscious and wounded Robin in an interrogation room and making off with Batgirl.

The assassin takes Batgirl back to his hideout where he has a change of heart and decides to work with the crimefighter.  The two of them, along with Dex, who trailed Deadshot to his hideout, decide to rendezvous with Ronan at an abandoned warehouse in order to take the villain down.  Suspicious, Ronan enlists the aid of Harley and Ivy by offering to bring the Joker back to life.

At the warehouse, Batgirl sneaks inside and fights Ronan.  Only to be captured by him when he manages to get her with a knock-out dart.  Ronan spirits her off to an abandoned apartment building while Deadshot is captured by Harley and Ivy and brainwashed to do their bidding.

At the apartment building, Ronan reveals his plan to Batgirl.  He plans to use a new Lazarus Pit he's discovered to bring the dead body of the Joker (supposedly killed by Jason Todd as Red Hood in a previous story) back to life.  Ronan leaves her in a deathtrap from which she escapes with the assistance of a new young hero, Owl Girl.  The heroic pair form an uneasy alliance with Poison Ivy who has no wish to see the Joker return.  Batgirl, Owl Girl, Ivy, Harley, and Deadshot head to Wayne Enterprises where Ivy has set up a meeting to collect the bounty on capturing Batgirl.  They, in fact, plan to ambush him, but Harley is unaware of this fact.  Unknown to everyone, the real Joker begins communicating to Harley through a microchip in her head.

Batman, away on JL business, returns to Gotham.  He teams with Oliver Queen and Damian Wayne to formulate a plan to deal with Ronan.  Dex, who now knows Barbara's superhero identity, dons a costume and becomes a hero/vigilante.  Nightwing rushes to the GCPD to help the injured Robin.  The pair, learn of Ronan's evil intentions (via text message from Barb) just as the evil doctor arrives to try and worm his way into their trust.  And a new player on the scene, Black Mask, plans on how he can use the chaos that Ronan has created to his advantage.

After arresting Black Mask, Batgirl, Deadshot, Owl-Girl, Batman, Green Arrow and Damian met near Wayne Enterprises. After an argument that broke out between Batgirl, Robin and Owl-Girl, Owl-Girl flew away and Batgirl went after her. Unknown to them, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy were just around the corner. Damian ran after them, and just when he was about to engage them, Batgirl threw a batarang at him, and engaged him in combat. The two fought, when Damian came to a conclusion that Batgirl was hiding something and probably betrayed the batfamily. Meanwhile Batwoman arrived nearby Wayne Enterprises as Batgirl called her previously.

Bruce and Oliver broke up the fight via radio. As ordered by Batman, Damian returned to the Batcave to heal his wounds, with loathing against his Father. Meanwhile the remaining heroes started planning their next move, while inside the Wayne Building; Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn and Doctor Ronan were making a deal, discussing the terms of reviving the Joker back to death.

And then everything fell apart.  Harley, directed by the Joker inside her head, left to try and find his body at Gotham Cemetery.  Ivy decided she had enough for the night and went home to feed her plants.  Batgirl, hearing about Robin's injuries, rushed to his bedside with Dex, directing Owl-Girl, Deadshot, and Batwoman to remain on stand-by.  As for the mysterious Ronan...he simply vanished.  For now.

Meanwhile, a mysterious girl by the name of Elizabeth Hufflepuff, calling herself The Sleep Reaver, breaks into Wayne Manor on a secret personal mission of her own.  She fights Damian but is subdued and awaits her fate at the hands of the Batman. They order the Sleep Reaver to leave forever.

ONE WEEK LATER

Damian Wayne's birthday is about to take place. Jean Paul, Cassandra Cain, Barbara Gordon, Tim Drake and other members, allies and friends of the Batfamily make their way towards Wayne Manor to enjoy the party, whilst Alfred, Bruce and Damian prepare the manor for it. Bruce requested that Damian tries to be more social, to which Damian agreed. For the whole week, Nightwing was trying to catch Ronan solo, attempting to get a lead, but so far was unable to trace the sinister doctor anywhere.
