No Weakness
Plot
The year is 2222. Mankind has spread out and conquered the stars, meeting aliens, slowly growing a galactic presence. Through advances in agriculture and the advent of teleportation able to get individuals from one part of the galaxy to another at light speed, there seems little use for something as trivial as a delivery service. Yet, the package delivery industry is a booming industry with heavy competition. It seems that the more of known space that is connected, the higher the demand grows for such services with people wanting luxury goods from other planets without the particle-scrambling effects of teleportation.

Sci-fi concepts
- The cheapest available means of interstellar travel is by solar sailing, ships being propelled by focused radiation pressure, using thin but protected sails to navigate through and between solar systems. Most solar systems have two, though sometimes more or less, light projectors which beam out radiation pressure forming a vast network of interstellar highways with spaceports spaced in between which also help to project and enhance the network of light ways. Through solar sailing, ships are capable of traveling at near the speed of light. Even then, it takes scores of Earth weeks to travel through a solar system, thus this technology it primarily used to travel within a star system rather than between them. Because it still takes several years to travel from system to system, warp gates are often preferred as a means of interstellar travel.
At the edge of each solar system is usually 1-3 warp gates, each opening in cycles of 24 Earth hours, connected to other parts of human colonized space. Earth's solar system has the most, with 4 warp gates leading out to different arms of the galaxy. Warp gates work by creating artificial wormholes which connect one part of space to another, allowing spacefarers to travel faster than light without breaking any laws of relativity. - Though it is a relatively accessible way of traveling, teleportation technology is primarily only used by the military to quickly transport troops, capable of doing so at light speed. Without a tracking bracer, other means of the teleporter homing onto an individual or teleporting to another teleporter, teleportation is usually a one-way street.
Space pirates are also known to use teleportation to board other ships. - Although it is not a common technology, many humans through implants tune themselves to a cloud of microscopic nanomachines which are usually housed within a small pouch on the individual in question. They are difficult to control at first, but once trained, a user of such nanomachines can manipulate his/her/variations thereupon environment to a much greater degree than those not enhanced by nanomachines, using said nanomachines to push and pull objects. Masters of said technology can even cause small tremors and manipulate the weather.
Major Locations
- Known as the business center of the galaxy, Tau Ceti's oort cloud is home to billions of different businesses interspersed with several space station nations which exist as their own sovereign entities.
The inner solar system is used primarily for wildlife research. Scientists come from all over the galaxy to examine life on Tau Ceti's four inhabitable planets.
It has two warp gates: One which leads to Earth's Solar System and one to Wolf 1061. - It is the most populated interstellar empire. While there are remnants on Earth, the majority of New China lives in orbit around Proxima Centauri. Half of its population lives in cheap continent-class space stations forming a Dyson swarm around its star. The other half of the population, however, lives in an ecumenopolis known by most as New Beijing being not much smaller than the planet Earth, not including the orbital rice fields suspended over the planet which bring food down to its many citizens.
Minor Locations
- The second largest gambling hub in human colonized space, New Macau is a continent-class Space Port on the edge of the Gliese 682 star system.
- One of the largest Space Ports, Space New York sits in interstellar space between Alpha Centauri and Earth. It is a sprawling metropolis where denizens come from all walks of life.
- A continent class space station dedicated primarily to agriculture. It sits within the oort cloud of Earth's solar system.
