Rotting in Paradise
"When the monsters came, so too did the death, destruction and chaos that spread all throughout the country like a wildfire. Less powerful villages were destroyed by the waves, the darkness obscuring their vision like a blindfold that only hindered them when trying to fight back.. Well, the brave souls who chose to fight, anyway. It didn't take long for the mass to reach larger kingdoms and cities, some falling under the might of the beasts while others kept their ground and fought them off night after night.

But, where there is darkness, there are always the lights that shine through to guide the lost back. The Extermination guild was formed, a group of powerful warriors and mages all with unique talents and valuable skills, ones that could combat the darkness far greater than any ordinary solider or adventurer. Their guild leader, Reegan Greythorn, is an exceptional strategist, one capable of toppling a kingdom with a handful of soldiers and enough firepower backing him. Four years in the making and their guild has grown by a lot, their presence known to all throughout the kingdom of Grandoise as their investigations bring back valuable information and equipment to them. That and they're the only people permitted to leaving the city until the night lifts..

Let me tell you a story, son. One of those heroic tales where the underdogs fight for their life, dominate the battle field with superior strategy and ultimately save their world from whatever horror has befallen it. Now, where to begin.. Ah.. It would probably be best to start off where the tides were beginning to turn.

One of our characters in this tale are called by a few names. Path finder, The walking storm, but to most in Grandoise.. He is known as Bjorn The Beserker.. My first sighting of Bjorn was when the guardsmen were dishing out rations for the day. Food was running low and stress was high, the waves were only growing stronger over time and the soldiers were beginning to struggle. We were running out of time..
"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"This is all we can give you for today! There are far too many people for the amount of food that is left!" The guard shouted at the crowd of lined up people, their agitation clear in their voices as they argued back. The armored men packed up what little was left while the group was in a fit of protest, occasionally having to push back the one citizen that was a little too 'rowdy' for their liking. "What about us?! My family haven't eaten in two days! How do we know you guards aren't just eating your full while we all starve?! I saw plenty of food in there left!" one of them shouted, which only made the crowd even more pissed at the idea.

"That's it!" the main talker of the guards that were present bellowed. Reaching to his side, the sound of metal grinding could be heard as he drew his sword, the sharp end pointing to the crowd. He was a rather sturdy looking fellow, it was clear that he had spent time training his body. "Who do you think are the ones that are protecting you peasants?! We deserve more of this food than you so that we can fight those things out there!" the guard stated, even though the four in particular had never been outside of the walls since the darkness fell. They were only guardsmen assigned to protecting the city and the safety of the people inside. And yet the other three behind the man talking begun to snicker and play along, figuring that a few unarmed citizens couldn't be too much of a threat.

A majority of the people had backed off once things had heated up, but there was one person amongst them that couldn't stand the blatent insult that was just thrown their way. Instead of backing up, he took a step forward and confronted the narcissistic men. "Do you think you can get away with this?! Everyone here is a witness to your heinous crime of food hoarding, I'll definitely report this!" they said, eyebrow twitching in frustration. As the tension kept rising, the guard had had enough and decided to make an example out of the man standing in front of him. He walked towards the city dweller and began to raise his sword in a threatening way. "Who do you think you are?! I'll show you how much power we hold over you simpletons!"

The crowd looked on in horror as the guard that was sworn to protect them swung downward, the man without a weapon putting his hands up in a defensive way in hope of somehow blocking the fast approaching blade..

But the sword never hit it's mark. The guard looked on in shock as he was, instead, getting further from the target of his aggression. In the split second it took him to turn his head to see the wolf pelt covered armour and feel the giant hand attatched to the back of his own protective gear, he was sent flying backwards into the other guardsmen with a loud crash that knocked them all over like bowling pins. With an aching groan, the men turned their head in search of their attacker, holding their heads as they attempted to stand. "Who dares?!" the talkative one blurted until his eyes landed on them, his face contorting into a look of fear as he held his tongue in an instant.

The blunt end of his axe slammed into the ground, cobblestone kicking up beneath the force of the weight behind it as he stared down the guardsmen with the eyes of an apex predator, unblinking and focused. Both hands held onto the top end of the massive weapon as his voice rose in his throat. "When you think of a kingdom such as Grandoise, where exactly does it's heart lie? In the king? It's soldiers? the nobles and higher ups that help with the countries upkeep and wealth?.. Wrong.. The heart belongs to the citizens. The people. And when you draw a sword against the heart of a kingdom.." the male spoke, his gravelly deep voice shaking the very core of the men before him as they couldn't stand to even look him in the eyes. Sparks of blue flue from his finger tips in a threatening way, the color in his eyes flashing the same way. "You get the same treatment as all the other treasonous bastards that tried before them.."

Bjorn ordered for the mens arrest, calling for other members of the guild to deal with the trash while he served the people the rest of their rations. They all thanked him gratefully as the intimidating male handed out the food in a fair and orderly way. No one present would dare to stand against him anyway. After he was finished with all of today's rations, Bjorn took his leave as he had more pressing matters to get to. Currently, his objective was to get to the guild hall, a massive building in the centre of the city that held all of it's needs. They were funded well by the king and nobles, allowing them to get all of the equipment they needed.

Inside of the building, the first thing you see when you walk through the doors is a dining hall. A bar sits at the end, behind it a large kitchen with a handful of talented chefs whilst rows of oak tables and chairs covered the floor nearby. To the left, a closed door led to the library, a mountain of books all sorted into different categories and topics. To the right, another door led to a big training hall, the walls strong enough to stop even the most destructive of magic so you could truly let loose and spar to your hearts content. A stairway to the left of the bar led upstairs to the guildmasters office as well as other smaller facilities such as bedrooms and communal bathing rooms.

Once Bjorn had found his way back, he took a step towards the door, reaching out to grab the handle and swing it open, the bustling crowd of adventurers communicating with one another apparent as he stepped inside the dining hall. People were getting drunk, eating, checking the mission board for any new quests, doing all manors of things. Bjorn sighed at the slackers who were goofing off, but couldn't give them too much hassle as any one of their missions could be their last if they're not careful enough. Pulling down his hood, his unkempt, short crimson red hair blew in the wind of the open guild door behind him, before he closed it fully with a slight thud.

The first thing Bjorn decided to do was head on over to the quest board to decide on which mission he should take next. After all, he was here to investigate and get out there. Moving past people, he greeted others who would say hello with a wave until he was standing in front of the board. Posters littered the walls, stuff to help out nearby places, others to investigate the tradegy behind a village or settlement. Anything bought back was valuable as it could be a major clue into stopping this never ending night. Bjorn took a look at the posters carefully before deciding, thinking about the places he had been recently with no leads. 'Hm. A few of these places have already been searched, I wonder why they're up for investigation again? Maybe Reegan thinks that they might still hold valuable information..' he pondered.

Senna ,, Elendir ❜ ─ 𝘵𝘩𝘦 elven light mage ─ ❛
interactions: open ; location: the guild hall
tldr: cheers herself up in a bedroom after being upset over her previous mission before coming down to the main area, seeing bjorn

Senna Elendir was many things; intelligent, brave, skilful, determined - you name it. She had all the qualities of an elf born to the renowned Elendir family. Another thing she was, however, was an empath. Sure, the Elendirs were a kind enough clan whose deeds had long contributed to the well-being of mankind - but Senna’s benevolence seemed to be on a different level entirely.

On her seventh birthday, her family surprised her with a piñata filled with everything a seven-year-old girl could possibly want. They explained the colourful toy to her, stating that it came from the culture of a faraway land and that if she hit it hard enough she’d be able to see the multitude of small presents stored inside, from candy and smaller toys to accessories and pocket money. Most children would have jumped at the idea, but this concept couldn’t have been more foreign to the little elf. Not because of where it came from, but because the piñata was purposely shaped like that of a small horse. She couldn’t possibly dream of striking something that resembled an innocent living creature, whether it was a toy filled with candy or not, so, she decided to keep it perfectly intact, not letting any other children near it for years in fear that they would destroy it like it was intended to be.

That was ninety-seven years ago, and though Senna was a young woman now, her heart remained unchanged. The elf was sitting alone in one of the bedrooms on the second floor of the guild hall, gazing into the mirror as she brushed her long and dark silky hair. As she made eye contact with herself in the reflection, her reddish-maroon eyes welled up with tears as the last mission she had been on plagued her mind. It had been a rescue mission at a small village where they caught wind of a few survivors that desperately needed help after a brutal monster attack. She didn’t usually let herself dwell too much on tragedies as death had been all too common in the past four years of darkness, but with this mission in particular, she felt as though she had personally failed as a light mage at the cost of a few innocent lives.

She was the only healer that had signed up for that mission, and when they arrived there were more injured survivors in need of help than they had anticipated. Four years prior, Senna was able to heal multiple people at once by utilising the power of the sun, but now the sun no longer came out, that healing was reduced to a couple of people at a time since the magic could now only come from her hands and body. To put it simply, she wasn’t able to heal everyone at the scene in time, and even though she had successfully saved the majority of them, she couldn’t help but feel responsible for the others not making it. She thought that maybe if she had been stronger and faster, everyone would’ve had a better chance of making it out alive.

After finishing doing her hair, now decorated with elegant golden accessories, she wiped her tears and forced a smile in the mirror, not wanting to remain upset any longer. “The sooner you get it together, the sooner you can help more people,” she said to herself, the smile on her face slowly becoming genuine as she eventually regained her optimism. She still noted that she wanted to become stronger so that if she ever miraculously found her lost brother out beyond the city walls she could help him and show him just how far she had come already. Now a skilled archer and talented mage, she was almost just as strong as he used to be. Senna put the hairbrush down and got up, making her way down to the dining area of the large hall filled with other guild members chatting away. After glancing around the room for a moment or two, Senna looked over at the entrance of the library before changing her gaze to the quest board, contemplating on what she should do next. The quest board had a tall, red-haired figure standing in front of it likely deciding on what their next mission should be. It hadn't been long since Senna's last mission, but the sooner she signed up for another one the better, she thought, deciding that the library books could probably wait until later.

It had been a busy few days for Atalanta since she arrived at the city. She had spent the last few years traveling from the very fringes of human civilization to reach this place, the trip with far too much death and fleeing from the things that now prowled the land. Early on she had tried taking it slow and using stealth to avoid trouble, but that had only worked some of the time, and only when she was alone. The moment she would try to escort survivors to a safer location it would be a race to get there before they were hunted down.

None of those early attempts at saving others had succeeded, as the people typically were in no shape to fight and there was a limit as to what Atalanta could do on her own. But then three months ago she had stumbled across a group of survivors when checking a ruined town for food. They had begged her to take the remaining guards with her and try to escort their children to somewhere safer. She knew this would doom the remaining adults to being killed in the very near future, but was unable to refuse their request.

With the help of the guards the trip initially went well, or at least better than her previous attempts at escorting survivors. But the closer to Grandiose they got, the worse the monster attacks became and it was when they were maybe half a day from the city when they found themselves fighting a desperate last stand. If a pair of Execution Guild members hadn't shown up, it would have been doubtful that any of them survived. As it was, only a handful of the guards lived, but thankfully the kids had mostly all made it.

The two members had voiced their recommendation of joining the guild to Atalanta, and since the whole reason for her trip was to search for allies she took them up on it. As such yesterday was a lengthy debrief about her trip, an evaluation of her abilities, and then finally a brief tour of the building and introductions to key people she would need to know about. Following the first real bath since her trip started, and it must have looked weird to the others to see someone bathing with their spear by their side, she had retired to the room they gave her for some much needed sleep.

Upon waking she had spent a good couple of hours trying to clean out her armor as best as she could while also doing some repairs. It would need to be replaced in the near future, but for the moment it could still do it's job. Finally though it was time to get something to eat and then look into taking a job. While she had been told that she wouldn't be faulted for taking a day or two to recover, the spear wielder wasn't interested in relaxing to that degree just yet.

Affixing a leather cap to the blade of her weapon, Atlanta then strapped it to her back before leaving her room and making her way down to the dining hall. Thankfully a table had emptied about the time she got her food and the red-haired woman was able to snag it for herself. Though if others wanted to sit there she wasn't about to refuse them. She wasn't about to be greedy and try to keep the whole space for herself, especially since she had to assume she would be working with at least some of the people in this room sooner or later.

Of course, one of the seats across from Atlanta was quickly filled. Zen tossed a heavy leather journal on the table, along with some stray pages and a much smaller, cheaper notebook. Sitting cross legged in the chair, they gave the redhead a quick and enthusiastic wave before burying themself in the journal. While the work was probably better done in the library, Zen enjoyed the buzz that came with public spaces. Watching people interact was just fascinating, and being able to eavesdrop was just an added bonus. Every moment of every day, they made a habit of absorbing information at a constant rate.

The cloaked figure was scribbling away in a large journal, occasionally glancing at a smaller notepad for reference. Their quill didn't stop moving for even a second, even when they were distracted looking at something else. Word by word, and stroke by stroke, Zen filled out the pages with their updated knowledge. They logged every mission that they went on. And most importantly, they logged every little interaction they had with the monsters outside. Most was repeated information, or theories on how different monsters connected with another. Zen made sketches and diagrams, obsessively including every insignificant detail that they could. It would be nice to think that they were compiling this information for the benefit of others, but that was far from the case. Zen had dozens of these journals, all on different obsessions they've had over the years. This was just the latest one.

Zen already knew the contents of the quest board by heart. Anytime a new job was put up, they were one of the first to take a peak, even if they didn't plan on participating. There were a few that sparked their interest this time around, but just about all of them required more than one or two people. Which meant that they had to wait for other interested parties to hover nearby. Hence why they were obsessively transcribing their findings in the dining hall. They could work, eavesdrop and keep an eye out for potential quest buddies. It was a triple win!

The silence between Rize and Kyron, the Chief Guardsman of the city, had been deafening. The sounds of the bustling city and the clinking of the Chief’s armor as he walked were the only things that filled the gaps. Compared to Rize, the Chief towered over her; he had a long scraggly beard that had been messily braided in order to keep it out of the way and his face was that of a serious older man. Rize didn’t know much about this man except that he apparently had some kind of soft spot for her. Out of everyone she’d met, this man was the only one who’d managed to keep her in check over the last few months. As they walked, the streets were buzzing with the unrest of the people of the city. The last few years had been filled with famine and lack of resources, forcing people into poverty. Throughout the city, the people had begun to become impatient with the poor quality of aid they’d been receiving from the city‘s guard. Though many people didn’t like Rize due to her history of chaotic mischief, she still felt for these people. They didn‘t deserve to struggle in the ways that they did.

”So…” Rize began, her hands clasped together behind her back as she practically skipped beside him “Do you think I’ll be ready for my first real mission yet? I’m getting restless, Kyron. I haaaave to do something with myself or I’m gonna end up falling back into my old ways”

”Patience is a virtue, Rize. You‘ve done exceptionally well with your training over the last 3 months and you’ve exhibited a great deal of improvement” Kyron sighed as he continued to look ahead of him, never breaking his gaze from the path in front of him
”The guild, however, has accepted you as a full member. I suspect they may need the extra help right now”

With Kyron’s words, Rize’s body flooded with electrical currents, sparks flying off of her fingertips and her eyes filling with excitement
”They want me to join!” She exclaimed, the sparks growing more intense as the excitement continued to build within her “Is that where we’re going now? Is that why you haven’t said anything about where we’re headed to?”

Continuing in silence, Kyron remained stoic with no response for Rize. This was often the case with many of Rize’s questions, forcing her to figure them out on her own. Though it was annoying to constantly be met with Kyron’s stoicism, she had begun to understand that he had his own reasonings for the way he was. He had a heart, it was clear, but he knew better than to allow people to see that in him. As the Chief Guardsman, it was a given that he would have to remain distanced from others.

The silence between the two had soon come to an end as they approached the front entrance of the guild hall. The tall wooden door was engraved with magical runes meant for protection as well as to deny entrance to those without clearance. Excitedly, Rize looked up at Kyron with eyes that grew wide with anticipation. Per usual, she was met with a stoic expression and only a silent nod before she reached down for the handle. As she grasped the brass handle of the door, the runes quickly glowed a soft blue light before opening to a bustling hall. Guild members of all types of backgrounds, races, and magical training were gathered here. Music, laughter, and rowdy banter echoed from wall to wall as she stepped inside.

This, however, was short lived as people craned their necks towards the entrance of the guild hall. Though the music and banter did not come to a full halt, some of said banter was replaced by awkward staring and whispers of words like “rabid dog”. Upon entering, Kyron following closely behind her, Rize’s attention had scattered to view everything in the room. It had seemed that people did not care to bother with greeting her as they shortly returned to their previous conversations. Looking back at Kyron, Rize was only met with a slow blink and a nod as he ushered her inside toward the quest board.

Standing in front of the board stood a man with blazing red hair that towered over her and a slim elven woman. The two had seemed to be preoccupied with the board, reviewing the different postings that were both recent and dated.
“Oh uh, hey!” Rize started, her excitement and nervousness seemingly pouring from her through sparks of electricity that engulfed her hands. Clasping her hands behind her once more to hide them, Rize slid between the two while Kyron remained at the entrance. Looking up toward the board with them, Rize let out a nervous laugh.
”I uh, definitely was thinking about taking up a quest too. You wouldn’t, maybe, know who I should talk to for that would you?”

Sebastian ❜ ─ 𝘵𝘩𝘦 ruined water mage ─ ❛
mentions: zen, atalanta ; location: the guild hall
tldr: after finishing training, he grabs an empty glass from the bar before silently joining atalanta and zen at their table and thinking of missions

Sebastian didn’t like crowded areas all that much. Moreso, he didn’t much like being at the centre of anyone’s attention. Sure, the guild was home to a number of different races with a variety of unique features and characteristics, but what was different about Sebastian, was that despite the way he looked - despite his ghostly, greyish-white skin, colourless hair and icy-blue eyes that contrasted with his darkened scleras, he was absolutely and entirely human. Most who laid eyes on him likely assumed he was a vampire of sorts or the son of a demon, but he had no fangs or horns, nor was he a monster. Being a member of the Extermination Guild didn’t stop most human citizens from judging him on sight, but one good thing about Sebastian was that he no longer cared what people thought of him. He couldn’t afford to. Despite this, he hadn’t told any of the other adventures exactly how he had come to look the way he did, since opening up to people about his past just wasn’t something the young man was eager to do.

He had spent many of his hours in the training room that ‘day’ which was far quieter than the busy guild hall and was perfect for letting off steam. Wiping a bead of sweat from his forehead and catching his breath after the long workout session, Sebastian finally sheathed his sword which caused the hardened icy weapon to begin to evaporate until it was no longer there. With a natural look of sorrow plastered on his face like usual, the water mage exited the training room and immediately made his way over to the guild’s bar, passing a table with a red-haired woman and a hooded figure on his way there. He briefly glanced back at the table he had passed, only noting that there were a few free seats that thankfully weren’t directly beside any of the table’s occupants, since he didn’t fancy any drunkards at the bar trying to start a conversation with him. The way he carried himself and spoke so bluntly often caused people - especially drunk people - to think he was being purposely rude, which many took it upon themselves to find personally offensive. It was something he genuinely couldn’t change about himself yet, so he preferred to avoid putting himself in such situations altogether. Even though he rarely ever lost a fight, they were just a big waste of time.

At the bar, Sebastian leaned against the counter silently as he waited to be served, his deep and stoic voice muttering a “Just an empty glass, please” to the person who served him. Soon enough, he made his way back over to the table he had spotted earlier and sat down on one of the seats without looking up at the other two guild members, putting his hand over the top of the empty glass and using his magic to fill it with cold water. He did momentarily glance over at the cloaked figure’s journals out of curiosity, but he soon looked away, not wanting to evade their privacy. His thoughts straying elsewhere almost instantaneously, Sebastian decided that he was going to sign up for another mission soon despite the fact that he had been on one the very night before. He couldn’t help but keep himself busy with mission after mission - especially the ones that were more on the dangerous side - almost as if he had a death wish. It wasn't that he was looking to die, but he didn't fear death the same way others did. As brave as that may seem, it certainly wasn't always a good thing.

Bjorn was lost in his own world as he read the quest board, trying to figure out exactly which one he wanted to go for today. Most places that had been listed he had already been searched, him finding next to nothing on his last trips apart from maybe a new type of monster discovery. But even those were rare nowdays. He'd unconsciously place his index finger and thumb just underneath his mask covered chin as he thought about it, eyes scrolling to a particular quest that looked fresh. It seemed like a nearby settlement needed emergency assistence with the waves of monsters whilst they worked on upgrading and repairing their walls from previous attacks. On the poster it read that they'd pay in food as their left-over farmland had produced more than needed for this harvest. And food was definitely needed in these trying times.

The location of the settlement was good for growing food too, as it was nowhere near as infested with blood thirsty beasts as the remaining kingdoms were. The smaller the village, the less likely you are to be attacked, as most of the attention was drawn away from those places. Bjorn guessed that the monsters were most likely focusing their attention on the bigger targets, Grandoise being one of them, for the amount of humans inside their walls. All creatures need food, after all.

His thoughts were interrupted by the sound of a voice calling to him from the right. Turning his head, he had seen no one there, which confused the male at first until he looked down and spotted the two figures standing by the quest board with him. Had he been so lost in his own thoughts that he didn't even hear them walk up? He had recognized the elven woman, seeing her around the hall a few times, but an unfamiliar face greeted Bjorn, him taking note of the wavey turquoise hair atop this person's head. His bewildered expression was luckily covered as he didn't even hear what they had said properly. That was, until they spoke again moments later.

”I uh, definitely was thinking about taking up a quest too. You wouldn’t, maybe, know who I should talk to for that would you?”

The realization dawned on Bjorn that this person might have been new to the guild, their question one that was asked often as there was no reception desk in the main hall. The male nodded before replying, his head turning to the direction of the stair case by the bar, arm reaching out to point over to it. "Once you have chosen a quest that you'd like to take up, you must form a group or partnership of at least two people and head on up those stairs. There is a desk with a Receptionist named Emma who notes down the names and the quest you've chosen. She then gives these to our guild master, Reegan, so that he knows who's doing what at all times." Bjorn replied to the smaller woman, his eyes shifting to the man who was standing by the entrance. He was wondering what the Chief of guardsmen was doing here, but from where he was looking, he had guessed it had something to do with the greenish-blue haired woman. "Welcome to the guild, by the way. My name is Bjorn, feel free to ask any questions you have regarding this place." he would say in a professional mannor as his gaze drifted back to the woman, crossing the arm that he used to point over the other to make himself more comfortable.

Senna ,, Elendir ❜ ─ 𝘵𝘩𝘦 elven light mage ─ ❛
interactions: bjorn, rize ; location: the guild hall
tldr: she introduces herself to the new adventurer and offers to join her on her first quest, the invitation extending to bjorn

Senna made her way over to the quest board where the tall adventurer was still standing, lost in thought. “Let's see..” she whispered to herself inaudibly, glancing up at the various missions that were pinned up against the board and playing with the rings on her fingers as her reddish eyes scanned each of them thoroughly. The elf didn’t have any particular type of mission in mind, but some certainly stood out more than others. Luckily for her, light mages were, for obvious reasons, always useful to have around. Out of curiosity, she glanced up at the red-haired man who hadn’t yet noticed her and wondered which one he might have had his eye on. For a moment she considered asking the man directly since the minimum adventurer requirement of most missions made teaming up with others helpful, but before she could open her mouth, another voice had broken the silence.

Senna turned to see a shorter woman with beautifully fascinating hair and blue eyes that looked as though they were filled with anticipation - a face she knew she hadn’t seen around the guild before. “Greetings!” Senna responded to her warmly, a welcoming smile appearing on her face. It took the stranger moving closer to them and speaking again for the man to notice her presence, but once he did, he seemed very eager to help, which Senna thought was very kind. “You couldn’t have explained it better,” she remarked, the small smile still resting on her face. Though she had never spoken to the man nor did she know his name until this very moment, she’d seen him many times before around the guild, always thinking that he looked strong and trustworthy enough in nature to be a good person to have around - due to her empathy, she had become quite skilled at reading people, though she wasn’t always right.

“I am Senna,” she added after Bjorn had finished speaking, returning her gaze to the interesting woman beside her and bowing her head slightly as she introduced herself. “And well, if you’d like.. I don’t suppose I could join you on your first quest?” she asked, tilting her head to the side as the question left her mouth. Senna couldn’t help but offer despite not knowing the woman at all - she had a rather maternal habit of watching over newcomers, at least from a distance, regardless of how strong or courageous they seemed. “And Bjorn, was it?” she repeated, shifting her attention towards the male once again. “Did you have your eye on any mission in particular?” she finally asked what she had been thinking of asking earlier, unsure of whether he was in need of the company, too, but deciding that it certainly couldn’t hurt to find out.

While the food given to her was only some bread and a bowl of stew with a mug of some local drink, Atalanta thought it smelled amazing after living off whatever she could scavenge for so long. Pausing for only a moment to nod in return to the hooded figure's wave, she then took the first mouthful of hot stew, knowing her power of her spear would keep the food from burning her mouth. There was a happy sigh of contentment as she savored the flavor. There had never been time to prepare a proper meal out in the darkness, she either ate what she found as it was, or with meat she just hastily burned it with the Blaze of Hope which often would leave the food in question half-charred and not exactly appetizing.

So caught up with her food as she was, the spear wielder almost missed another person sitting at the table. When Atalanta did realize he was there, it wasn't his coloration that caught her attention, but rather the fact that he appeared to be creating his own drinking water. "Now THAT is an useful ability," she remarks quietly while still staring at the glass for a few more moments. Soon enough however she was back to shoveling stew into her mouth and before long had finished it off. Using the bread to soak up the remaining residue she then proceeded to more slowly munch on that while taking another look around the dining hall. The red-haired woman wanted to go pick a mission as soon as she was done eating, but had been told yesterday that they were supposed to go out in pairs at least. It was a policy that made plenty of sense to Atalanta, but she was so used to working alone that she wasn't sure if there was a best way of asking others to team up nowadays. Ultimately she decided, fuck it, she might as well ask the two at the table and go from there.

As such, between bites she spoke up loud enough for the two to hear, making sure to make eye contact with each so that they both knew she was talking to them. "If you are considering taking any missions today, would you be willing to form a group together?" It didn't look like either of them were part of a group at the moment, so hopefully one or both of them would be open to the idea. If not, then she would have to try someone else here in a little bit.

Stranger
The days since Nightfall had been... busy, busy, busy. When he wasn't fighting monsters on missions, he was meditating, trying to piece a shattered, almost broken mind together. The trouble with having a long life is that the days bleed together like water. Was this a century ago? A day? It was all a terrible blur, a single long night unmarked by the structure of chronology. Blood, magic, and darkness. Constants that had ruled his life before and after Nightfall, but now eating up more and more of his mind. It was funny, really. A vampire missing the sun. And yet... Somehow, there was a part of him that felt brand-new. The sense that with the loss of his memories, he was a new man, a young beast let loose into an open world. Like there'd been some great weight lifted off his shoulders, the way he nearly lost his mind.

Sometimes, when he finds his broken mind clearer than usual, he feels like he's alive again. Like his heart still beat.

Well, at least Stranger didn't look old. If he shaved the beard and mustache, he might actually pass for one of those pretty boy vamps that are popular heart-throbs these days. There was a couple brooding in different corners of the guildhall, ignoring, of course, the swooning looks a few of the female adventurers gave them. Stranger snorts, as he sips a cup of monster-blood. Yeah, he'd pass on giving himself the young look. He had enough to deal with without having to worry about dealing with offered affections too.

The Vampire looks over across the room to see a female elf, a light mage if that clothing was anything to go by, speaking with a barbarian and a warrior of some kind. Perhaps they were making a group? It looked like they were still discussing it... perhaps he'd join them?

Zen’s nonstop scribbling came to a pause when the group in front of the board started discussing missions. Their head tilted to the side as they listened. Would it be rude to insert themself into the conversation? The trio hadn’t settled on a job yet, if they were planning on working together at all, so maybe it would be best to wait. Their head tilted to the other side as the newest addition to their table performed a neat water trick.

They quickly added a scrambled note to their smaller notepad. Just for reference later.

As soon as the red headed woman mentioned the word mission, Zen went from quietly observing to literally vibrating. Their passive levitation shot them an extra half a foot into the air. Though it was sometimes difficult to tell, they were looking right at the woman. No sound came from their body directly, but for the members at the table, a disembodied voice appeared in their heads. The voice itself was rather soft and pleasant to listen to, but there was an excited energy behind it. “Yes, absolutely!” Zen gushed. “I’ve been wanting to go out for days! If you pick one, please, please, please let me come with you!”

The group at the board was already forgotten. So were their notes. This took complete priority.

Sebastian ❜ ─ 𝘵𝘩𝘦 ruined water mage ─ ❛
mentions: zen, atalanta ; location: the guild hall
tldr: he accepts the woman's offer, and surprisingly finds himself curious about their fighting styles

When the woman made a quiet remark regarding his water trick, Sebastian wasn’t quite able to make out what she said over the chatter, laughter and glasses clinking coming from the other tables. He did, however, get a feeling that multiple eyes had been watching him for a moment, most likely belonging to the two he had just joined. He couldn’t tell if they were judging him as most did or if his magic had simply and innocently piqued their curiosity, but either way, he brought the glass to his lips and drank some of the refreshing liquid he had created while thinking about how he probably could’ve done with it halfway through his workout session earlier.

What Sebastian did hear was when the spear-wielding woman spoke again moments later to the both of them, this time loud enough for him to hear. Almost before he had even processed her question, the other person had responded enthusiastically, causing Sebastian to finally look up at the adventurers he was sitting with. Surprising the white-haired man was difficult, but he was certain that the second voice he heard had come from inside his own head. Was this an ability he had never heard of before? The voice didn’t sound similar to the first person who spoke, so he assumed the telepathic voice belonged to the being that was levitating slightly. “Huh.” he remarked quietly, that sound being the only inclination that he was impressed.

His eyes then moved to the woman who had asked the question. She looked like a worthy ally who didn’t appear to be discouraged by the sight of him at all, and since Sebastian wasn’t used to people going out of their way to ask him to team up he saw no reason why he shouldn’t accept her request. He was used to scoping out whichever mission needed one more person and putting his name down for it seeing as though he hadn’t become acquainted with anybody during his time in the guild. That didn’t bother him, but a deep part of him must have appreciated the woman’s gesture, if not admired her ability to talk to strangers with no fear of rejection.

Sebastian gave her a nod of confirmation, agreeing that he would be willing to form a group with the two of them. Though he was far less outwardly excited than the seemingly telepathic person, he did enjoy venturing out beyond the walls where he felt less cooped up and restricted than he did in the city. “Sounds like we've got a deal.” he responded. Sebastian’s gaze shifted to the spear she had, wondering if the weapon was a magic item or if she was just an armed warrior like many. Not everyone at the guild had to be a mage, after all. He also found himself wondering the extent of the cloaked person’s abilities - not because he doubted them, but because he’d never met or heard of anybody that could talk without talking. “This will be quite interesting.” he added, more talking to himself with this comment than anybody else.

As she processed Senna’s words, a wave of static caused Rize’s hair to flutter slightly above her ears. Excitedly, she turned to face Bjorn. Standing on her tip toes, Rize placed both hands on one of his crossed forearms to look up at him, unintentionally sending a light shock into his skin. This was something she often did, invading others’ personal space without realizing it. Those who’d come in contact with her would describe her as having little to no manners and being rough around the edges.
”You’ll join us won’t you!” She exclaimed, her excitement building with each second “You seem pretty strong, I’m sure you take up quests all the time!”

Without allowing Bjorn the second to accept, Rize excitedly turned to Senna to grab one of her hands, clasping it in between her palms and making eager and overly intense eye contact.
“I’m Rize. I’m new to the guild but no stranger to a good fight! We’ll make a great party I feel it!” She proclaimed, rudely making the assumption that both Bjorn and Senna would come to the final agreement to form a party.

Through her excitement, Rize then turned to wave down Kyron, wanting to share the apparent news. When she turned to look for him, however, he had already been gone. Oftentimes, Kyron was aloof and tended to disappear when he could see that Rize was able to handle something on her own. At first, Rize didn’t understand why he wouldn’t celebrate with her on her achievements, often feeling lonely when he’d disappear on her. After a while, though, she’d begun to understand that, even though he did have a heart, Kyron didn’t have the capacity to share emotional sentiments. Nevertheless, Rize would continue to be the robust person everyone knew her as.

“Although I know my man, Bjorn, here can handle himself well” she said, turning back toward the two and nudging Bjorn’s side with an elbow and a wink “Do you think we’ll need others? Some of these quests seem pretty difficult.”

She had hoped for a positive reaction, but the sheer enthusiasm was almost as surprising as the fact that their voice was resounding in Atalanta's head. None of the stories passed down in her family had ever mentioned such an ability existing, but she could already see the advantages of it. And their floating hinted at wind magic, not that she knew enough about it to know what situations it would be good for. That little realization made her realize that it would likely be a good idea to discuss their respective abilities before they actually left the city.

When the water-making man then also voiced his acceptance, she gave both of them a nod of gratitude. Chewing on the last bit of her bread, the spear woman took a few moments to figure out how to proceed. Once she had swallowed the food she voiced her idea to her new teammates. "Alright, so I'm going to return my dishes and then head to that mission board to see what looks like a suitable job. Feel free to join me up there, otherwise I'll pick out a few options and bring them back here for us to pick from. Figure that would also be the time for us to discuss our abilities with each other as well." With that she stood up and grabbed the bowl and mug before pausing as a hint of a sheepish expression appeared on her face.

"Oh, almost forgot. My name is Atalanta, pleased to meet you." She waited for a moment for the two to also introduce themselves, if they were inclined to do so, before stepping away from the table. Before long the red-haired woman was perusing the options at the mission board. Not far from where an elf, a hyper-active girl, and a larger man were talking did Atalanta spot some quests that looked like they might be good options, except she had no idea where any of those places were located. She frowned as the realization of how woefully inadequate her knowledge of geography and the various settlements was, and on top of that she suspected the bits she did know were largely out of date. After all she had lived her entire life far from any of the major towns or cities, in a region she often just mentally referred to as the 'Fringes'. What other people called the edge of civilization, she didn't know, but her life out there had resulted in a lack of knowledge that would have been most helpful. Perhaps the other two knew their way around this land, but just in case they didn't she decided that it might be a good idea to ask someone for directions to some of these places or where she could get a map. Plus there was always the risk that they would get split up and she would have to find her way back by herself.

While Atalanta could ask the receptionist, she figured the woman was most likely busy most of the day and decided to try to get the information elsewhere first. Glancing at the trio that was talking, she figured that they were as good of a place as any to start since they were right there. "Excuse me," a moment's pause to give them a chance to pause their conversation before continuing, "would you happen to know where I could get a map or at least directions to some of these places mentioned on these job listings? I'm not from this region and only just arrived at the city yesterday, so naturally I don't know where anything is."

Success! Zen just about exploded from the relief and excitement. Regardless of what the mission entailed, they were finally getting another chance to stretch their legs. And, of course, study some of the creatures up close again. They were really looking forward to that second bit.

“I am known as Zen! It is wonderful to meet you both!” Their disembodied voice sang in the minds of their two new acquaintances. As soon as Atalanta left to drop off her dishes, they started collecting their own things. A steady, gentle breeze blew at the pages of their journal, drying any ink that had yet to fully settle. Zen slipped all of their belongings into various pockets along the inside of their cloak. Even the large journal had a place where it fit snuggly.

Once finished, they gave Sebastian a small wave of farewell. If he wanted to follow, he could, but Zen was definitely following after the woman. They knew all the missions by heart, but it never hurt to double check. Rather than walk, though, they took the faster route.

Zen disappeared completely from the table, almost like a flame being snuffed from a candle. They reappeared at Atalanta’s side in front of the job board. She was asking for a map? Sure, why not! It never hurt to have a spare, whether you were familiar with the area or not. Rather than help engage with the trio, Zen’s attention went straight to the board. There was nothing new, but they wanted to look over the requests anyway. Maybe something would jump out this time around.

The crimson haired male smiled underneath the mask and nodded as Senna introduced herself, his curiosity satisfied at the fact that he now knew the name of a guild mate that he hadn't previously. He was about to thank the light mage as she complimented his explanation skills, before the electric blue hair bounced into view once again with excitement coming from their voice, their smaller hands resting on his crossed arms. A small current of electricity shot through the veins in his forearm, likely coming from their touch as if it weren't fully controlled, but he remained stoic as if he hadn't felt it. 'Same magic as me, huh?' he thought, noting this down in the back of his memories to simmer for a while.

"You'll join us, wont you! You seem pretty strong, you must take up quests all the time!" the woman spoke in a giddy manner, likely excited to get going on their first quest. Bjorn felt that it was his duty as a guide to help the newcomer with their first trip, especially since the unexpected could happen. Anyone who stood in these halls held the potential to break this never ending darkness and Bjorn didn't want to lose anyone else because they didn't know how to navigate it properly. Every person counted. Before he could say yes, however, the blue haired woman turned to the Elf and introduced herself as Rize, explaining to her that she was a skilled combatant or at least not shy to admit that they weren't afraid of a fight. Good qualities for a member of the Extermination guild.

Bjorn then seemed to remember that Senna asked him which quest he was looking at, taking a sideways glance back to the quest board before clearing his throat once again to speak, fist in front of his mouth to be polite about it. "There is a farming settlement to the south of Grandoise, one with strong enough fighters and good enough cultivators to keep a substainable farm going for a while during these apocalyptic times. The problem is, their wall isn't able to hold on much longer. And with monsters attacking, they can't get any repairs done." he'd say with a pause as he began to think it over again, before continuing. "The quest would be simple enough. Guard the outside of the walls that need to be repaired while construction is under way and take care of any monsters that get a little too close for comfort." he'd finish with his explanation.

"And as for us teaming up for a quest, It would be a good oppertunity to make some new travel companions. I'm in." Bjorn would say before his attention shifted to another who had politely interrupted the conversation with an "Exuse me?"

Bjorn kept his focus on the person, noting down their choice of weapon as the spear before their voice played again. They were hoping to find some sort of map of the area or at least someone to give them directions to the places on the quest board. They were new to Grandoise, at least, that's what Bjorn had gathered from their questions. Being eager to help a new face, the male spoke once again, this time his arm extending to the library. "There are maps in the guilds library of the kingdom itself, along with settlement locations and how to get there that were written before the fall. They are mostly outdated though, some places mentioned have been reduced to rubble already, but are still useful enough to get around with."

he'd pause for a moment as he noticed a figure appearing in his peripheral vision, as if from thin air like they had teleported. They didn't pose a threat though, instead moving to take a look at the quest board, standing.. or floating? next to the red headed woman.

"If you prefer, however, us three here have decided to take on a quest together." Bjorn mentioned "I wouldn't mind a few more people coming along. It's safer in numbers out there, after all."

Sebastian ❜ ─ 𝘵𝘩𝘦 ruined water mage ─ ❛

tldr: he tells the pair his name, and later joins them over at the board where everyone else is congregating

Names. They had always been an afterthought for Sebastian, a detail he often overlooked – he avoided getting close to other adventurers in the guild for reasons of his own, one of them being that it made loss far easier. Atalanta's introduction, however, reminded him that exchanging names was the polite thing to do when meeting people for the first time. Soon after Sebastian learned her name, the other adventurer's dismembered voice appeared once more in his head and revealed that the excitable cloaked figure was called Zen. Sebastian repeated both names to himself mentally, committing the information to memory so that he didn’t come across as rude later on for letting both names slip his mind. “Sebastian,” he introduced himself simply right before Atalanta set off. He was glad they weren’t doing surnames, seeing as though he didn’t know his own.

The male stood there for a moment, his gaze lingering on Atalanta for a few seconds as she walked away from the table. Her words from earlier — "Feel free to join me up there" — echoed in his mind, causing him to glance over at the small group of adventurers huddled around the board while Zen was busy collecting their things. It was a place he had been to countless times before, but this time he would be approaching the quest board with a group already in mind rather than signing up to join groups at the last moment without knowing who any of his team members were.

Zen’s small wave managed to catch Sebastian's attention again, and in return, Sebastian raised one of his pale hands — a gesture that didn’t last very long seeing as though Zen soon disappeared from sight, likely following Atalanta's lead. “Now that’s something I wish I could do.” he muttered to himself, shoving his hands back into his pockets and lumbering over to the group at the board which Zen and Atalanta had already made their way to. He didn’t say or do anything to announce his presence when he caught up with them, towering over each of the other adventurers (besides the 6’4 warrior who had an inch or two on him) and just about catching the end of the conversation about missions being safer in numbers. He figured it'd be fine if he just stood a few paces behind Zen and Atalanta who he had already learned the names of, not wanting to immediately interrupt the ongoing conversation anyway.

Senna ,, Elendir ❜ ─ 𝘵𝘩𝘦 elven light mage ─ ❛
mentions: bjorn, rize, atalanta, zen, sebastian ; location: the guild hall
tldr: responds to rize before meeting atalanta, zen and sebastian. she likes the potential mission, and the look of the group.

Senna couldn't help but find Rize's excitement about teaming up on a mission endearing. Her curiosity piqued, Senna's gaze shifted towards Bjorn, wondering how he would respond to the woman's invitation as she was eager to see how their potential party could come together. She hoped he would say yes, but before Bjorn had a chance to respond to the question, Senna’s eyes were suddenly met with Rize’s bold and direct eye contact while one of her hands was taken and clasped by her simultaneously.

Though Rize’s actions definitely took her by surprise, Senna didn't mind the bold gesture at all: instead, she found herself chuckling softly at Rize's infectious excitement. There was something the elf found refreshing about her unreserved enthusiasm — it was something you didn’t often come across anymore with the world now shrouded in darkness, and Senna was just happy to see that people like Rize still existed despite how bleak the world had gotten.

“I'm happy to have you in the guild, Rize. I find your attitude admirable!” Senna responded, nodding happily in acknowledgement of the woman’s introduction. She considered Rize's next question about the need for additional party members, recognizing the importance of safety in numbers beyond the walls of Grandoise with the sheer amount of monsters about these nights. "It might be wise to consider inviting a few more." Senna replied, "Unless it's a mission that heavily involves stealth, there’s always strength in numbers."

When Bjorn shared information about a farming settlement that was in need of protection while their walls were being repaired Senna listened attentively - the mission was definitely one that sparked her interest, especially because it involved protecting innocent people. “That mission's certainly not a bad idea." she responded. Soon, she was glad to hear that Bjorn was willing to join them, too, reacting to his statement with her usual warm smile.

When a fourth adventurer approached them, Senna turned her attention towards the red-haired woman, letting Bjorn respond to her first. Senna nodded in agreement with everything he said, and soon enough another person appeared beside the new face seemingly out of thin air. “Oh my!” Senna exclaimed, clapping her hands in praise of the person’s ability to either go invisible for certain periods of time or teleport to different locations. “I take it the two of you are together?” She asked, looking at both the adventurers and tilting her head to the side in curiosity.

Upon tilting her head, she noticed a third person who was with them, though she didn’t quite know how long he had been there despite how tall the man was. “Make that the three of you!” she quickly added. The three that had joined them were an interesting bunch indeed; the woman had striking read hair and a spear that, from Senna’s knowledge, easily could’ve had some sort of magical affiliation — the person that had impressively appeared not long ago wore a cloak that mysteriously shrouded their appearance apart from eyes that glowed blue, and the sombre tall man with shoulder-length hair seemed to be lacking in colour altogether besides his magnetic blue eyes. "We were actually just discussing recruiting more to join us."

Things were going better than Atalanta expected, though she couldn't figure out how or when Zen had appeared next to her. That part of the last minute or so was still perplexing to her. She had hoped just to get some information about the area but instead it looked like the size of the group was going to double. While personal experience told her that she could survive just fine out there by herself, she had learned the hard way that wasn't enough to protect others. Learning to work as a team though, that could be the ticket to actually making a real difference in this night time hell.

"Yeah, the three of us were going to take a mission together. If they are willing to accept your offer then I'm fine with it to." If Sebastian declined, she planned to as well. There was no way she was going to give up working with someone who could make drinking water. That had been one of the hardest parts of her trip from the Fringes, finding water that was safe to drink. She had seen too many streams polluted by the bodies of fish that had run out of food to eat, the lack of sunlight and death of plant life affecting the water life as well. With this many people in this city though she figured there was a way to get clean water, but that wouldn't help when they were out in the wilderness. Though, Atalanta had to admit to herself that she had no idea how common his abilities really were, but since he was the only one she knew right how, he was stuck with her. If they became friends along the way, great, even better! Otherwise she'd be content with just eliminating one of the more troublesome aspects of surviving in the night.

"If they do agree, how do we go about doing this then? Until about three months ago I hadn't actually fought alongside anyone for..." A short pause. "... a very, very long time." The way the spear woman said it might seem odd to some, as if she was speaking of a time much longer than the 25-30 years that her physical appearance would suggest for her age. "And while the basics of how the guild functions was explained to me yesterday, are there any 'unspoken' rules or customs I should know about?" That was one of the more annoying parts of meeting a new group of people in Atalanta's mind. Some villages would have weird rules or traditions and they wouldn't explain them to until you accidentally broke one of them at which point they were usually pissed off. Asking about them upfront usually helped avoid that issue however.

Just like that, Rize had found two guild members to join her. She had never worked with anyone other than Kyron; though she didn’t know much about working as a team, she figured she’d learn along the way. At this point, she was just grateful to have found people that didn’t whisper about her. Or at least people who didn’t know her as “the rabid dog”. Upon her application to the guild, Rize had to perform quite a few tests in order to determine whether she was fit to join. Though she’d performed exceptionally well, she often completed the tests in unconventional ways that earned her that name. Many who’d witnessed her tests looked at her through judgement and often criticized the way she’d done things. Many of said criticism was inherently true, however. She often created a mess and performed with little regard to her own safety. She’d been scolded countless times by Kyron about her methods, so, this could be an opportunity for her to adjust.

Just as Bjorn and Senna had finished their thoughts about gathering a bigger party, a few strangers had joined them. A red-haired woman, a man with skin and eyes of a gentle blue hue, and a figure that seemed to be… Floating? The third floating figure had especially caught Rize’s eye. She couldn’t quite make out a face from within the cloak that they’d wore but she could tell they did, in fact, have limbs; at least that much was certain. Though she tried to remain focused on the conversation everyone was having around her, Rize’s rabbit-like attention span was running thin as her eyes continued to drift to the cloaked figure, her brain trying to wrap around what she was seeing in front of her.

Realizing that she’d been staring for quite some time, Rize blinked and lightly shook her head to bring herself back to focus. The amount of different kinds of people that had joined the guild was astounding. It was interesting to see that the guild had brought together quite a diverse group.
And while the basics of how the guild functions was explained to me yesterday, are there any 'unspoken' rules or customs I should know about?"
Unspoken rules and customs; that was actually something Rize didn’t even think to ask about. Of course the guild had rules but she didn’t even realize that these people more than likely had a set way of doing things that she’d have to learn along the way.

”That’s actually a good question” Rize interjected, looking up at the group from her small stature “Are there any rules we should know about besides the obvious?”

"Yes! Bigger party means more interesting quests!" Zen cheered, their voice once again floating into the minds of the people around them. There was no real way to warn people about the sudden disembodied sound, and even if there was Zen would forget constantly. Taking time to explain their abilities all in one go would take too long, anyway. The cloaked figure was vibrating too much for that now. Literally. If anyone was standing close enough, they could probably feel the shift in the air, almost like lighting was about to strike.

They tried to think of the rules. At one point, they had written them all down, plus a ton of bonus rules that individual people had given them. In total, their list spanned two pages long. Though, at this moment, Zen's mind kept zipping elsewhere. Instead of the list of rules, their brain kept focusing on a mental list of supplies that they'd need for the trip. Most of which was already on their person, but there were still a number of items to retrieve or replenish. In all likeliness, their merged group wouldn't leave for several hours, if they left today at all. This left plenty of time to pack, but Zen wasn't great at thinking in terms of time, only tasks.

Atalanta wanted maps, right?

Leaving the rules up to the professionals, Zen raised their hand high to announce their departure. "I will be back momentarily. I am going to the library for supplies. Don't wait up!"

Without waiting for permission or confirmation that anyone heard them-- not that you could ignore a strange voice in you head-- Zen fully disappeared. They flickered back into existence momentarily at the edge of the mess hall, then disappeared again. The giant, berserker-looking guy mentioned something about a potential job south of Grandiose. Of course, Zen would collect as many maps as possible, but they'd take extra care to focus on that area.

The shorter woman seconding Atalanta's question about rules caused the red-haired woman to give Rize a grateful nod, from one newcomer to another.

Then Zen's voice suddenly sounded in her head, startling the spear woman a bit. While the mind-speak was a bit disorienting, she appreciated his enthusiasm. After spending so long in the darkness, she had started to think that she would never see someone with that kind of energy again, but Atalanta was glad to be proven wrong.

"Well, as important as rules are, I guess we should follow Zen's lead and start getting our stuff together as well." Not that Atalanta had any supplies to get, or money to buy anything, but she figured the others would have things they would want to get before the group set out.

Bjorn listened intently to everyone that spoke to him, it helped him gather information and get a small picture of someone's personality off the bat. The spear wielding woman, Atalanta, had asked him weather or not there were any unspoken rules in the guild and, shortly after, Rize had asked the same. "There are many rules for the safety of the guild and it's people." He paused, looking around the guild hall at the warriors and spell casters present. "But there is one unwritten rule that every one of these people here follow. Or at least should if we ever want to escape this nightmare. Never leave your squad mates to fend for themselves. If one of us are in trouble, all of us are." Bjorn replied to the both of them, looking back in the direction of the people that had decided to join them at the quest board.

Bjorn would listen to the group chatter amongst themselves, a good point being brought up about getting their things together. Since the male didn't really have anything to get, he decided that now would be a good time to tell Emma, the receptionist upstairs, about the quest and who was going on it. He watched with piqued interest as the cloaked figure teleported away towards the library area, thinking that his ability would come in handy from observing it. Bjorn didn't question the voice in his head as he thought that it might have been rude to do so. He had only hoped that the figure couldn't read minds too, it was a disturbing thought indeed.

"I'm going up to see Emma and tell her about the quest. However, I need to ask your names, unless you do not wish to come anymore." He would say in a genuine way before he left as he needed to tell the receptionist the party members names. It was important to note where everyone was, to paint a clearer picture of what happened and where. "And, how about we meet by the quest board once everyone has finished preparing?"
