Realistic or Modern Foster Life

He smiles as the infant is set down in his arms; he brings him close to his chest and stares down at his face - his eyes glisten in happiness and amazement, mostly from knowing that after only being here a week he'd gone from being someone who thought he'd never fit in to someone who was close to the family and even helped decide what his new brother's name would be. He was thrilled about it all.

He'd never really had the luxury of being able to hold a newborn baby before, hence why he was so nervous about doing so. It may have been a natural reaction, but while sitting there and keeping his eyes locked on him he'd begin to gently rock him from side; he'd do it at slow pace so that it was soothing for the young child. He'd look up at Amanda after a few minutes, exposing his straight and white milk-teeth in a cute smile. ".. I love him..." He said in a whisper, looking back down at him after a few moments. That's when the cutest interaction takes place. He slowly bowed his head and gave a gentle kiss on Jason's forehead, looking back up and smiling again.
The doctor would walk over after a few minutes and stand at the bedside, resting his hands in his pockets while looking down upon Jackson and his interaction with Jason, he sets one hand down on his head which causes Jackson to look up at him, giving a shy smile.

"Getting to know your brother, little man?" He says, smiling at him. Jackson would give a quick couple of nods at him and look down at Jason right after, still looking down at him in pure awe. "That's nice... I hate to say it, but we're gonna' have to put him in the incubation ward, okay?"

".. what's that?" He asked after thinking for a few moments.

"It's like a bed, but it stays warm all the time - we have a lot of babies there like Jason - it's a place where he can develop a bit more so he's healthy enough to go home with you."

".. oh... okay..." He'd look off at Amanda for a moment, seeming slightly helpless on what to do next. He wasn't sure whether or not to give the baby straight to the doctor or hand him back to her.
(Anyone here?)
He'd glance up at the doctor for a moment and then take a deep breath; he'd look down at Jason for a moment followed by sighing and gently setting him back down in Amanda's arms; the doctor merely smiles at him and crosses his own arms over his chest, watching over the three of them and trying to maintain his patience after pretty much having his authority and control over what happened taken from him.

(Sorry. I'm trying to write a paper that's due in a few days.)

Amanda smiles softly as Jackson hands Jason back to her. She looks up at the doctor. "Do you need to take him now?" She asks.

(Oh the horror. I know how you feel - no rush :) )

"Preferably, yes. He'll be given a small amount of steroid-based medication while he's here to help his lungs develop a little easier. It's unknown at the current time how long he'll be here, so we'll run some other checks and scans to see if everything else is clear..." He walks over to her and smiles as he gently scoops up Jason from her arms, looking down at him. "From what I've seen... all bodily functions seem fine, he's responsive which shows his brain's developed well enough, and other than that it just seems like his breathing's a problem." He'd smile and reach up with one hand, lightly tucking one of Jason's hands under the blanket with a warm smile.

He slowly spins on one heel and walks off towards the door; Jackson would seem quite saddened to see his newest brother and friend be taken away like that, but deep down inside he knows it's for the best.

"We'll keep you notified of his status. Congratulations once again." He says before wandering out; Jackson would give a gentle sigh as he crawls up onto the bed and lies down beside Amanda, lying on his side and looking up at her. He gives a faint smile.

".. are you feelin' okay, Amanda?" He asks quietly.
(If it's too much of a problem for you to try and do this and finish off that paper then I'd be happy to pick this up tomorrow when you're more free. Up to you :)
((Thought that we'd lost this RP for a moment with the new site development. Heart skipped a beat for a second, lol. See you all whenever you're around!))

Amanda watches as the doctor leaves with Jason and she also gives a small sigh. She looks down at Jackson as he asks her a question, and gives a small smile. "Yeah buddy. Just a little bit tired."

"Me and dad are gonna stay with you tonight." He says to her, raising hand to his mouth in shyness. "Are we gonna go to a different room?" He asks as he glances around the ward; the only thing separating them from others was merely a curtain that went around the bedding area.

"I don't know bud. You have to ask the doctor." She says softly. She runs her fingers through her hair and yawns.

He'd set his head on the pillow beside her and lie there in silence, inspecting her tired body and face for a short period of time. After several minutes the doctor would come back and walk over to the bed, he'd remain silent as he leans over the bed to peer down at Jackson's face.

"Being a tough old brother for your sister, buddy?" He says calmly, smiling. Jackson would nod and shyly grin at him. The doctor gives a quiet snicker and fully stands up. "Jason's all snug now. I'll make you aware that he's on intravenous drugs for now, but he's safe as it's low dosage." He says to Amanda.

"This ward isn't exactly ideal for you and your family to stay in as there's bound to be more people giving birth in here before you know it. I've given the call to some nurses and they should be here soon enough to take you all to your own room - the room has a private bathroom which is only a few feet away from the bed. So it's ideal for everyone." He explains to her, smiling at her interaction with Jackson.

In another ten minutes a few nurses would arrive. They tell them that they're here to take them all to a room for them to stay in. They start off by helping Amanda into a wheelchair; Jackson would stay by her side once she was sat in it. They'd notify both Jack and Wendy that they'd be going on a short journey to get to one of the upper floors.

When they finally get Amanda and her family out of the hot and loud ward they're hit with a cool breeze until they're all moved into an elevator. Five minutes later and they'd be in their new room with a double bed that has two pull-out camper beds under it that would most likely be sufficient for Jack and Wendy. It's a quaint room with a dresser, nightstand, and a simple bathroom beside the door.

"I hope this is better for you." The nurse says. Jackson would look around while the nurses help Amanda out of the wheelchair and into the bed; he walks around the room and looks at the fake flowers atop the dresser, he then goes and stares out of the window and admires the view for a few moments. He'd walk over to the bathroom and poke his head inside, smiling in thought when he saw that they all had some privacy. Above the dresser against the wall opposite the foot of the bed there is a medium-sized TV bolted to the wall.

".. this is nice. It's quiet..." He states in a simple manner, turning to smile at Amanda after she'd been helped into the bed - she didn't take up much space seeing as they'd given her a room with a big and comfortable bed - Jackson continues to wander around in curiosity, going around through some of things in the drawers of the dresser - there's some cleaned bathrobes, some books and magazines, and that was about all there was aside from some things that didn't concern Jackson at all.

"Would any of you like something to eat or drink?" One of the nurses asks, in the process of her asking this, Jackson would walk to the opposite side of Amanda's bed and kick off his shoes before climbing up onto it and lying down. He merely shakes his head at the nurse. The nurse would look off to Amanda with a soft smile and speak to her directly. "Anything for you, ma'am?"

(Any of the regulars around at all?)

[QUOTE="Aryn Harris]"Uh yes please." She answers the nurse, running her fingers through her hair.

The nurse simply smiles. "What would you like?" She asks, meanwhile, Jackson retrieves the TV remote from the beside table and flicks the TV on, looking over at Amanda for a moment before cycling through some of the channels to reach the cartoon channel; he sets the remote back down and looks off at it, a smile instantly forming on his face.

The nurse nods to her and then quickly walks out of the room; Jackson would turn his head and look at her for a moment, smiling. "Cartoons... do you wanna' put somethin' else on?" He asks as he leans over and retrieves the remote again, holding it in his right hand in front of her.

When the whole childbirth process was over, Wendy just went back to looking things up on her phone, since she had nothing better to do. As an only child, she had the habit of keeping to herself. This only amplified after her boyfriend broke up with her. Because she had the next week off, she couldn't help but wait until they get to go home. With a new infant in the house, she may be just ready to lose some sleep in the middle of the night. Guess its a good thing that she had a habit of staying up late on weekends. Because if she did that, she'd sleep through just about anything. Afterwards, she got on Twitter to post up a new tweet. 'Foster Sister just had a baby. Can't wait to be woken up in the middle of the night...for the next two years of my life.'

Jackson would glance over to Wendy for a short amount of time, admiring her facial expression for a few moments before cracking a faint smile at her. He lied back down after that.

"No we can keep watching these." She whispers, smiling at him. She glances over at Wendy and yawns again. "Correction. You can keep watching this. I'm going to take a nap." She states, and lays back, closing her eyes.

"Oh... okay." He says as he lies back next to her, peering off at the TV. The nurse would return a few minutes later and set the glass of water she requested down on the bedside table beside her; as the evening creeps in the sun would slowly begin to set, but it still creates a nice atmospheric viewpoint from their point of view.

"Your water, ma'am." She says quietly before smiling and wandering to the door. ".. we'll have someone check in on you soon. If anyone needs anything, please press the button above the bed." She says, she then leaves the room.
