Tasteless

Their heavy paw steps were muffled by the light dusting of snow that coated the frozen earth, their breathing was quiet yet formed soft clouds of condensation that flowed from their parted jaws. They had been walking in silence for some time, as the pair had caught the scent of intruders.
The sun was just beginning to rise on the horizon yet the air around the pair remained frigid, despite the thick fur that covered their muscular bodies. Soon, the pair reached the edge of a cliff. Looking down, they spotted the glow of a fire in the distance. Surrounding the fire was white cloth dens, small figures could be seen moving around. "Do you ever wonder what it is like to be a normal human, Alpha?" she says softly, her emotionless gaze not leaving the campsite below. Alpha stood tall, his ears forward as he watched the humans below. "No." he says softly, his powerful gaze shifting to his guard. "I can only figure it is terrible, given they are so hateful and cruel." he looks back to the humans as they begin to mount their horses.
LRr53Q1.gif
"Are we going to kill them?" Reyna asks, her voice a soft growl. "Yes." Alpha responds without hesitation, before turning and heading towards the rocky path that leads towards where his subordinates were resting. Soon, the pair had fallen into position and were waiting for the humans to cross their path.
Some humans were especially good at tracking, meaning they were able to follow the tracks the pack had left from days ago. It didn't take long for two large horses, carrying two humans each trotted down the path. Alpha and Reyna remained in hiding, watching as three humans on foot behind the horses slowly made their way past them.
Suddenly, one of the horses stops and rears onto its hind legs in terror, releasing a shriek. Alpha suddenly bursts from the foliage and releases a terrifying growl, looking into one of the humans eyes. The look of cold terror washes over the humans, Alpha hesitates for a moment before lunging forward.
His fangs sink into the human's shoulder, forcing them deeper he can taste the man's tangy blood fill his jaws, the sound of breaking bones causes pleasure to flow over Alpha.
Reyna watches from the shadows as one of the men on the horses spins the hefty animal around, and aims his rifle at Alpha. In moments she lunges forward and sinks her fangs into the throat of the horse, causing it to shriek and thrash in terror the other man on the horse falls to the ground with a heavy thump. The man fires the gun, but the bullet misses as the horse thrashes and struggles. Reyna quickly tightens her grip and in a solid movement forces the beast to the ground. The horse stops struggling after a few seconds, and Reyna raises her head to look into the eyes of the two humans that were on the horse. She licks her bloody maw, before lunging forward and pinning them before under his massive body. She snarls and suddenly sinks her head into the skull of one and begins to thrash wildly, moments later pain sears through her ribs. She cries loudly, pulling away from the men and whipping around. One of the humans had began to stab her in the ribs, causing crimson blood to mat her silky gray pelt.
tumblr_static_tumblr_static_cb81xa3vntc8g8kcgogc88ckk_640.gif
She steps away from the humans, one of them reaching for the gun he held earlier.
Reyna raises onto her hind paws, and slams one of her mighty paws against the mans skull. A crunch fills the chaotic air, as the man collapses limply, and the other man lunges for Reyna, knife in his grip. The she-wolf narrows her gaze and leaps over the man swiftly, before sinking her fangs into his shoulder and throwing him across the clearing. The man hits a young tree, causing it to bend with such force. She huffs loudly, before turning her gaze to Alpha.
Alpha has one of the human's head in his jaws as he thrashes wildly, then with a sickly crack the humans head rips free of its body, causing blood to cover the perfect snow. Alpha drops the severed head, licking his maw and looking towards Reyna. He nods his head, until suddenly he feels extra weight leap onto his back. He tries to shake off the humans who clung to his fur, yet they plunge their hunting blades into his shoulder and ribs. Alpha growls loudly, before slamming himself onto his back, glad to hear the cries of the humans as eight hundred pounds lands on them. One of them laid in the snow, motionless yet still alive. The other was squirming, and shrieking in pain. Alpha growls loudly, pressing his massive paw against the unconscious human's skull, before applying his weight.
A pleasing crunch reaches his ears, and the only living human releases a shriek in terror, looking up at alpha from merely feet away. The black brute slowly approaches the injured human, making direct eye contact and his tail held high. Alpha gets his muzzle mere inches from the human male's face, before growling loudly. In a quick movement, Reyna and Alpha attacked the man. Alpha sank his fangs into the mans shoulder, while his loyal guard tugged mercilessly at the humans legs.
6A2.gif
A disgusting ripping sound filled the silent air, as the mans torso ripped free. Alpha dropped his half of the corpse, watching the mans eyes dilate, his face twisted in horror and to forever remain that way.

Eventually the pair reach camp, the sun was barley rising over the mountains in the distance. Alpha and Reyna shift back into their human forms, and the pair stumble slightly. Reyna leans against Alpha, clutching the injury on her ribs. He allows her to do so, ignoring the pulsating pain radiating from his own. They had been created with thick skin, yet bleeding out was always a possibility.

Parker Current Location: Camp
Interacting with: None
Form: Wolf
Feeling: Restless and alert

The sudden howls of pain awoke Parker quite quickly. He lay a few meters off from the rest of the pack, tucked comfortably in a patch of dirt where he had shifted the snow aside. Snow drifted gently down to the earth, some speckled all along his fur coat, making his glisten softly in the dim moonlight. The sound had been very faint, and a ways away, miles perhaps, but he had definitely heard it. His head rose like lightning, his ears perking up on his head and his nose immediately going to work. He was breathing rather briskly now, sending wave after wave of fog into the air. He listened intently, then heard another howl, which caused him to stand up on his three paws, leaning a bit to keep from falling over.
14c03c44318eb06cb6b83be305d037d9400f08d9_hq.gif

He looked toward the Pack. He couldn't see Alpha anywhere, and there was one more missing; Reyna. He turned his head again and stared off in the direction of the outbursts. Were they in trouble? He couldn't fight, he wasn't good at it. At least, he had been until that incident. For a moment it was as though he could feel his leg again, just barely. Should he wake the others? They needed their rest, though perhaps he could arouse another of the guards. The howling seemed to have stopped, and Parker wondered if Alena had noticed anything. Alena was probably the best when it came to hearing things like this, perhaps even more so than Parker himself. He could go and check for Alpha and Reyna, but he wasn't going to. His job wasn't to stray off from the group, at least not without orders from Alpha himself. He wasn't sure Alpha would be happy to see him having left the group, so instead, he remain silent and lay back down patiently. They would be back. He had confidence that whatever they had gotten into, they could, and had gotten out of it. They were some of the most aggressive wolves in the Pack after all.

JASON JONES

"JJ, come on sweet it's time to wake up now." A soft spoken voice was whispering into the ear of the young eighteen year old. Only a groan soon followed by the thrashing around under neath the plaid blanket. The red head only smirked with a small giggle. "It's either waking up, or a bottle of water, we don't want that do we?" A ruffle and tumble soon happened as hair was sprawled over the floor. "You know I don't." Jason was on top of her, smirking as he lent down and gave her a peck on the cheek. He closed his eyes before opening them, yet it wasn't the sight he wanted when he opened them again. Her darling face was covered in blood, scratches all over her body and face while her eyes were iced over. "Sophie..SOPHIE!"

Gasps of air escaped from the lips of the rugged guy as he sat up from his slumber. Sweat dripped down from his hair line as he rubbed his face round and round with the palm of his hands. Covered in dirt it only made him look as if he'd face planted the floor. Standing up he walked over to a small body of river that was beside him, cupping his hands together he brought some water up to his face and washed the filth off from his skin. There was little movement after that, only his sight against his own reflection, the tears of a broken soul dropped down into the water before it was thrashed away by a large carp swimming around for it's daily meal.

Clothes began to be thrown around as if they were leaves in the wind before finally finding a body to be put onto. The usual attire placed on, Jason stood himself up gazing round where he'd been sleeping that evening. "New day, new situations, new everything..." Were the mumbled words that soon escaped from his lips. Gazing round he was looking if anyone was nearby, one way or another he didn't care, nights like those required peace and that's what the gentleman got.

Sounds of screaming soon woke up the whole land. Birds began to escape out from the trees, rabbits darted into holes and hedgehogs rolled their spiky balls. Grabbing up his bag he quickly picked up speed into a run towards the rest of his pack mates. It wouldn't take him long before he reached them, but long enough for his mind to begin running round with thoughts of what might have happened.

Zephyr felt the sun on his muzzle before he opened his eyes and saw dawn's first light creeping over the brow of the hill. It filtered through the snow piled up over him. The snow kept the heat in and kept his wolf body warm throughout the night. He'd read it in a book once, it was how huskies stayed warn on the trail up in Alaska. Worked like a charm, and thanks to his white coat he was nearly invisible underneath the frozen cover. Zephyr had been put on early morning guard duty, something nobody ever wanted to do. Now as the light stroked his nose he shifted his position and some of the snow fell away from his face.
"Here comes the sun hmmhmmhmmhmm..." He sang quietly to himself as he waited for the light to grow, "Here comes the..." but he stopped dead when a sharp scent caught in his nose. Blood.
Zephyr resisted the urge to spring up, because two shapes appeared out from the trees. They were wolves, Alpha and Reyna. Once he recognized them he was up like a shot. He shook the snow from his white pelt and sprang forward, loping through the high drifts with his long legs as if they were nothing.
"Alpha! Reyna! Did you get 'em?" He stopped before them just as they shifted and then he saw their wounds.
"Shitshitshit you're hurt!"
Zephyr didn't shift, instead he offered his large white shoulder for either to lean on if they needed it.
"We need to get you in to Lia right away." Concern laced his voice as he fell into a slow step beside them, it was only when he was sure the wounds weren't fatal that he began to relax into his typical self.
"Why can't we just have a day where no one ends up bleeding?" He sighed jokingly.
He lifted his great head then and gave one short howl, "Lia! We need you!"

Accalia

There's never a dull moment.

The thought practically plagued Accalia, haunting her night and day. Never a dull moment. As the healer for a pack of killers, all bred to be ruthless, she was always either causing pain or trying to fix it. She was hardly any different from the rest of them, but at least she tried to keep herself out of trouble.

This morning was no different, of course.

Accalia was up early, as she often was, reading by the stream by herself. She sat in clothes that were very light given the weather, but she got warm easily, thus preferring her single layer of a sweater and jeans. She was reading about identifying plants in the wild, and what those plants could do in an emergency. The pack was well stocked for now, with multitudes of supplies that were mostly stolen from human towns. The humans always seemed to make more, so a couple of tubes of anesthetic and a few rolls of bandages certainly wouldn't be missed. Or at least, that was Lia's theory.

As she read her book, she caught the unmistakable scent of blood. She rose her head from her book, now suddenly aware of her surroundings. She heard screams in the distance, and snorted. Probably the pack killing something. Not unusual.

She almost went back to her book, looking back at the page and searching tp find where she had left off when she got a whiff of another type of blood- theirs. The smell was different entirely to human blood, at least in Lia's opinion. She had to smell it constantly, so perhaps she was just used to it. But of course, with the smell of shifter blood meant injury. Perhaps nothing too bad, but it took more than a scraped knee to make shifters bleed.

Huffing, Accalia stood up from where she was sitting, hearing a howl calling her over to where she assumed the source of the stench was. She ran towards the camp, tossing her book by where she slept as she ran towards the others,

"What happened?" Lia asked as she arrived, looking over the Alpha, Reyna and Zephyr as she approached. It appeared that the Alpha and Reyna had gotten themselves knocked around, and Zephyr was trying to help.

Both Alpha and Reyna had knife wounds in their ribs, and the way the Alpha had his arm positioned suggested that his shoulder was injured too. Never a dull moment...

Lia growled at the two. "Do you have no sense of self worth?" She snapped, turning to fetch her supplies anyways. She talked to the Alpha in a way that could easily get her killed, but for the fact that she was the healer, and thus- in a way- mothered the group. She had to clean up their messes, meaning she nagged them about the messes all the while. That included nagging the alpha.

She grabbed the mock first aid kit that they had gathered, motioning the duo over. She was, according to hierarchy, supposed to help Alpha first, but he sometimes let others be helped before him. Knowing his wounds were worse, Lia said, "Alpha, you first, and let me see your back." She needed to see if his shoulder or his ribs needed to be treated first.

Feeling: slightly uncomfortable

Alpha's gaze shifts upwards towards Zephyr, yet before he can answer the omega he was already calling for Lia. Alpha growls softly under his breath, mentally scolding Zephyr for bringing so much more attention to the pair.
'Had i truly expected to come back unnoticed?' Reyna leans against Zephyr, saying something so softly that Alpha didn't catch it.
It didn't take long for Accalia to come into view, and his pelt grew hot under her gaze. "Humans, we can discuss that later, though." his voice was rough and gravely. At her remark he simply rolls his eyes, giving her a soft smirk. He didn't let just anyone speak harshly towards him, yet he always allowed Lia to get away with it.
As she beckoned him over, he decided not the argue and approached her. He didn't quiver, despite the pulsation of pain coursing through his shoulder and ribs. He turns his back to her and carefully lifts the formally clean, black shirt that was now wet with blood, and ruined by various tears. His shoulder blade had quite an painful injury, the wound was about five inches long and about an inch deep. The skin around with wound was turning rosy with fresh blood slowly dripping down his muscular back.
His ribs were exposed as well, two more wounds could be seen. These were three inches long and less than an inch deep. The skin around these wounds was particularly normal, and the blood was already slowing on its own. Alpha glances back at Lia, catching her gaze with his deep brown eyes. "How do they look, Doc?" he smiles, his tone was firm yet anyone other than Lia wouldn't be able to sense the playfulness hidden underneath.

Reyna carefully leans against Zeph, slightly winded yet not terribly. "Thank you, Zeph." she whispers. His fur was frigid and damp, she guessed he had been sleeping under the snow again. She smiles calmly, he always did awkward things that no other wolf or human would do. Reyna silently watches as Alpha proceeds to get checked over by Lia, and eventually she stops standing against Zeph. While she knew he was attempting to be helpful, she had began to feel awkward at the feeling of his fur against her skin. She looks towards his side and notices her crimson blood streaking his white fur. Her face becomes flush, and she lightly clears her throat. "I'm sorry about that." she says gently.
Reyna thankfully only had one stab wound, four inches long and a little over an inch deep. She carefully lifts her shirt to examine her wound on her upper ribs. Blood continuously trickles down her ribs, despite her holding her hand against it in an attempt to slow the oozing.

JASON JONES

Jason had continued with his journey back to the pack. The thought that the Alpha would be astonished and angry that one of his warriors had theatrically abandoned his pack hadn't crossed Jasons mind as of yet. Still running back as a steady pace his feet finally began to hit the snow as he neared the rest of his 'family', but a shock wave hit him suddenly. Hairs on the back of his neck stood up like lightning in the middle of a winter storm. It was blood. He could smell blood. The scent had filled every twist and turn of his body which sent him into a motion of natural instincts. His body cracked and shifted as the once rugged human was now a large and weighted wolf bounding through the snow. Speed was little matter now and neither was trudging through the snow.

Small speckles of blood were spotted in his sight, soon enough he ran over sniffing it widely. He knew that blood, it wasn't a domestic animal as a rabbit or deer. It wasn't human either, wait was it? No. There was something else mixed in. It set in quickly that it was a member of the pack, which one he wasn't sure and didn't stay round to find out. Bolting through the lands he soon made his way over to the rest of the wolves that were in the camp they had been staying. "Whats happened?!" He bellowed out as he made his way down towards the Alpha and the rest. Unsure whether to help, Jason sat himself down near to the Alpha in silence, yet it was clear how worries he was.

Zephyr let his tongue loll in relief when Lia came into view, and he bit his lip at her scolding, an act that looked comical on his lupine face. He enjoyed watching Lia scold people, especially when those people out-ranked him...which was everyone. He looked on as their healer tended Alpha first, pressing closer to Reyna as she used him for support. He felt her tense beside him and step away slightly. He couldn't help but grin as she blushed and apologized for the stain her blood had left on his coat.

"Whaaaare you kidding? Don't apologize for that, you got stabbed for Pete's sake, besides, it's a small price to pay for getting this close to you," he finished the flirty comment with a wink.
When Reyna pulled back her shirt to see the wound Zephyr hissed in empathy, shrinking back down to his human form.
"Damn Rey, that looks bad..." He wasted no time in taking off the loose black shirt he was wearing and using it as a bandage to help reduce the bleeding. Now he stood in the snow with no shirt, blood seeping over his hands as he pressed the cloth to Reyna's wound. His tousled blonde hair caught the first rays of the sun peeking over the ridge and his eyes, no longer yellow, glinted grey-green.
Another voice made him jump and he stepped instinctively forward, ready for a fight, but relaxed when he recognized it's owner. It was no secret in the pack that some would want to take advantage of Alpha's injuries, if it came to side-choosing, Zephyr was willing to go down fighting for his pack leader.
"Just some human trouble." He told Jason casually. "These ones seemed a little better equipped than normal."
He leaned closer to Reyna and whispered: "The fight seemed awfully near our camp...are they...getting close to finding us?"

Parker Current Location: Camp
Interacting with: Ridge Ridge
Form: Wolf
Feeling: Like not much of a help to Alpha at the current moment

Parker hadn't slept since he heard the howling. He knew it was only a matter of time until something eventful happened, and sure enough, shortly after the sun had begun to rise, Zephyr, the Pack's Omega, had gone rushing over to the silhouettes of Alpha and Reyna, who had just appeared over a small hill at the edge of the clearing. He began shouting out. He was calling for their healer, Accalia, or Lia as the Pack called her.

A few other members of the Pack seemed to have taken notice, and rushed forward to see if they could help. Parker stood up warily, stumbling for a moment as he only had his right hind leg. He limped forward, stopping a short distance away to watch the scene unfold. He wasn't going to try helping, as there was nothing he could do, and he might get in the way, though he was somewhat thankful that Zephyr had stepped in to assist them and bring in the Pack's attention. Alpha was prideful, confident, and powerful, but this sometimes led to rash decisions. Most of the time however, he was able to make the right choices, and that was the way he was created; to lead the Pack.

14c03c44318eb06cb6b83be305d037d9400f08d9_hq.gif

Parker limped over to Jason, steadying himself and watching Lia work to fix the two of them up. "I saw you leave before the sun went down. Where did you go this time?" He asked with a shred of disbelief in his voice. "It sure is a good thing there hadn't been a second, larger group of humans waiting to flank us while Alpha was distracted. We could have been in some trouble. Although, I suppose we do have Fenrir..." Saying her name alone sent shivers down Parker's spine, and for a moment, he thought he could feel his leg again, but he knew it wasn't there. Fender, she was the reason his leg was gone. Having gone on a rampage like that, and now, Alpha thought it would be a good idea to bring her along for the ride? One of the very few rash decisions Parker had thought about not a moment ago.

Zeus

Look into my eyes and you'll see how bad I want it.
Zeus

2672732e74ce15c2ad31954cce8ddf4c.jpg

Zeus came back to the camp irritated.

He had left his guard post earlier to go on a little hunting trip, to fetch a little snack before continuing his duty. It would be hours before the hunters would begin their duty, so Zeus took the opportunity. With Alpha and his guard Reyna out of sight, Zeus figured it wouldn't hurt to leave his post for awhile either. He didn't know when the pair had sneaked off---he figured he must've fallen into a surprise nap. When he had woken up, their scent trails were beginning to stale. Zeus knew going off-post wasn't allowed unless the alpha allowed it, but then again, it's not like Zeus cared much for whether he had the alpha's permission or not. The wolf was a soft-hearted fool anyway.
Now, at first, the short trip was rather delightful. Zeus had sat there at camp all night, withstanding the chilly breeze and the onslaught of snowflakes, keeping himself awake all the while as well. This was a chance to stretch his legs, to run free like a true wolf, to forget that he was only ever a hybrid, an escaped weapon for the humans, practically a criminal in the eyes of human civilization.
It took quite awhile for the guard wolf to sniff out prey. With the cold, the prey was scarce, but Zeus kept at it. His senses alert, stomach growling at the prospect of food. Soon enough, Zeus caught sight of a thin-looking white hare nibbling on a lucky surviving sprout, out in a small frosted clearing. Zeus licked his chops, gliding almost naturally into a hunter's crouch, making sure the breeze was downwind so the creature couldn't sense the predator. Silently, Zeus approached it, just until the prey was so close, he could taste it in his jaws, no matter how thin it was. A thought flashed across his mind, making him wonder whether he should kill this creature for the pack or for himself. Prey was scarce, after all. Zeus dismissed it just as quickly as it came, knowing the pack had hunters to feed it. Besides, he needed strength in order to protect and guard the camp. To Zeus, out of all the pack responsibilities, being a guard was one of the most unpleasant and dangerous. Zeus never complained---this was for the good of the pack after all. It was thanks to the guards that the camp was protected and hasn't fallen into human ambush for all these moons.
He was so close.
Right before Zeus could pounce, a myriad of terrified shrieks, gnashing of flesh and gunshots ripped across the dawn sky. The hare, frightened, began to bound off. In a wave of alarm, Zeus struggled to retrieve the prey, only managing to get his claws to graze the furry sides of the hare as it ran off. Zeus growled in anger and frustration, giving one last resentful glare to the hare before whipping around to head back home. Pointless, he thought. Utterly pointless. Right before entering camp, Zeus shapeshifted into his human form, no matter how painful it could be. He glanced down at his hands. Blood was trickling down from his fingertips, a testimony of his failed hunt. Zeus muttered a curse under his breath and continued his trek, his clothes giving little to no relief from the chilly breeze. His stomach empty, Zeus could only hope that the hunters would finally prove themselves useful for once and had brought a decent amount of game to fill in the hours he was gone.
Thus, he came back to camp, irritated.

Zeus was welcomed by the sight of a camp filled with activity, a stark contrast to what it was hours ago. It seems the alpha and his beta had finally come back to wherever they had come from. Zeus glanced at the ground, seeing droplets of crimson blood dotting the white background. They led up all the way towards the sources. Zeus's ice-cold blue eyes narrowed at the sight of Alpha and Reyna, the stench of blood coming off of them in waves. Reyna, in her human form, was leaning against Zephyr, who's wolf eyes were shining just at the prospect of her being so close to him. The young wolf was a joker, a light-hearted simpleton who's reckless actions could put him in a lot of trouble. Zeus never truly liked him, but he wasn't the worst out of them all, even if he was only an omega. Sometimes, his jokes could even make Zeus smile. But only sometimes.
Zeus caught sight of Reyna's injury, flinching slightly at the severity. He watched as Lia, sweater and all, helped Alpha as he displayed the worst of his wounds as well. Accalia was in a sour mood, seeing all these injuries. Her pretty gray eyes darkened at the sight of them. But where had they gotten them from? Zeus wondered. Then his eyes narrowed, all the pieces coming into place in an instant. They must've been fighting the humans again. It wasn't a surprise---this time, the humans' camp was closer than it has ever been before. It was just for Alpha and Reyna to check it out and try to neutralize the humans within. But his prey escaped because of them. And he'd been out for hours just trying to find a hint of prey. Zeus's irritation grew. He and Alpha had never been the best of friends. They weren't exactly enemies, but dangerously close. Moons ago, Zeus had tried to challenge Alpha into a fight, to see who was the strongest. And whoever won, would become the new alpha. This one hesitates, let's his human side flourish---Zeus has seen it all before. The guard had always dreamed of becoming alpha. Having all the power, respect and best of all, Fenrir...
Zeus couldn't help but let himself soften for a moment at the thought of her. He had been defeated once, yes. It was his chance and he blew it. But there are second chances. He just needed to wait until one presented itself.

Being near Zephyr and Reyna, Zeus heard the young white wolf's question and answered it himself.
"If they are, then we'll just rip their throats out. Without hesitation. Isn't that right, Alpha?" Zeus glanced at Alpha, what seemed almost like a silent challenge in his gaze.

Fenrir

Use down arrow to scroll down.
Roughly six months had passed since the Packs' grand escape from the concrete building they were all born in. Six months of freedom and interaction with the few members of her kind after twelve years of isolation. Twelve years of chains, twelve years of wondering if she would ever see her friends again, of the kind of people they had grown up to be. It all felt so overwhelming when she thought about it. There was her freedom, something that felt incredibly foreign to her. It took her the first three months to get used to walking without the weight of chains pulling her down. Then there was the human world. As much as she loved to kill them, humans had so much information to offer. Whenever she snuck into a town she'd snag a book or magazine. Reading helped distract the relentless itch. There was her pack, too. It was a blessing to be reunited with them, or perhaps a curse in disguise. It felt amazing to see their beautiful faces once again, but she was locked away for a reason, a reason that grew stronger each day, just as she did. And then there was Alpha. Since her birth the two formed an undeniable bond. He did not fear nor hate her, even after what she had done to the pack, to him. The moment their eyes met for the first time after all those years she swore to never lose him again. He was just too important.

Fenrir blinked. The closing and reopening of her fiery eyes pulled her from the depths of her thoughts and returned her to reality. She was deep into the forest, far past where the pack had traveled. She awoke before the sun, a familiar ill feeling plaguing her. Without a word she had left, running as far as she could into the forest before she collapsed into a violent seizure. Her eyes lolled to the back of her head, her body quaked and spasmed. Foam and blood spurted from her lips, lucky for her she had fallen on her side or else she would have drowned in her own fluids. At least twenty minutes had passed since her episode ended. Fenrir sat quietly on the forest floor, counting her breathing. Red foam decorated the forest floor in front of her like blooming roses. She was about to head back to the pack when a gentle crunch of dead leaves alerted her that she was not alone. Fenrir stepped behind a tree just as a man holding a hunting rifle revealed himself. He was approaching slowly, unsure of where his wolfy prey had disappeared to. As soon as the tip of his rifle entered Fenrir's line of sight she jumped out, bringing her hand up to knock the cylindrical metal into his face. He fired a shot in surprise, hitting an innocent tree. The impact of the metal colliding with his face loosened his grip on the butt of the gun. Fenrir snatched the rifle from him and jammed the wooden butt into his gut. The hunter's body crumpled, giving Fenrir the perfect chance to bring the gun down onto the back of his skull. With a painful cry the man fell to the earth, blood seeping from the crack in his skull. A rush of relief came with the kill, flooding her mind with a sense of euphoria. Gripping each side of the gun Fenrir pushed downwards, snapping it in half with considerable strength.

The sound of splitting air warned Fenrir of an incoming projectile. She shifted to the side, her tricep getting sliced by an arrow instead of punctured. The sting of a fresh wound made her salivate. It was time for Fenrir to get even. Her slender fingers grasped the bloody arrow, twirling it around as she turned. Her eyes scanned the forest floor, finding it void of humans. Her gaze traveled upwards, into the treetops and eventually onto the hunter perching with a crossbow in a tree. He froze when he realized his hiding spot had been uncovered, petrified. Fenrir clicked her tongue, something one of her caretakers used to do to her when she tried to reach him through her shackles. Winding her arm back Fenrir launched the arrow at the man perched within the tree. He was skilled, dodging out of the way of the arrow, but not skilled enough to catch himself as he fell from the tree and into a bear trap they had planted for the wolves. He screamed in agony as the trap snapped around his forearm, grabbing helplessly at it with his other hand. Fenrir approached slowly, any emotion had deserted her face. She placed her feet on his hands, crushing them as she bent down. She used both of her hands to pull the trap apart, freeing his bloody arm. He whimpered softly, half from relief and half from fear, but his whimpers turned to cries as Fenrir slowly brought the opened trap down to his face and let go. The trap snapped, latching onto his face, like hungry metallic jaws.. He gave a muffled scream, unable to move his jaws beneath the pressure of the trap. Fenrir cradled each side of the trap, waiting to catch his dull eyes before applying pressure the both sides. The man filled the air with his agonizing song, growing louder and louder as Fenrir pushed harder, until the sound of bone crunching ended his opera to the heavens.

Another blink, slower this time, brought her out of the blurry-visioned, killing enduced high she entered. She inhaled deeply and exhaled slowly. Now that her adrenaline levels were settling, the pain in her arm kicked up. She twisted her arm, carefully inspecting it. It may have been more serious than she had previously thought, but no injury was a big deal to Fenrir if it was on her. The humans were improving their weapons to hunt her pack. Somehow this arrow managed to tear a chunk of meat out of her arm, leaving a bloody notch. Fenrir slipped her shirt up and over her head, leaving her torso naked to the cold besides the gray sports bra she took during one of their raids in the human town. She was quite inexperienced in social mannerisms and how it was entirely uncommon to walk around without a shirt, but her kind were uncommon people. Fenrir tied her shirt around her wound as a makeshift bandage until she got to camp. Before she headed back something in one of the hunter's pockets caught her eye. She grabbed it and unfolded the vividly colored booklet.

A woman in a bikini was plastered onto the center of the cover page. Fenrir recognized the booklet as a magazine, a popular publication containing articles and illustrations that gave the uncultured wolf-girl a sliver of knowledge on the human world. Fenrir stared at the woman, attempting to understand the human definition of beauty in females. The woman on the page was curvaceous and seemed quite comfortable being nearly naked.. Fenrir glanced down at her own body. She shared the feminine curves of the woman despite being far more muscular. Her eyes drifted to the pink and blue polka dot covered breasts of the woman. Fenrir visibly retracted, a single eyebrow raised in shock at the prodigious amount of fat suspended on the woman's chest. Fenrir looked down at herself once again. She was adequately sized. Fenrir gave her head a disapproving shake and tossed the magazine onto the ground. The human standard of beauty was not useful when it came to survival, and it was far too difficult to understand. She began the trek back home, unfazed by the cold that bit at her exposed skin.

Fenrir arrived to a rowdy pack, all gathering around something. A prick of worry touched her heart, but as she moved closer she realized that it was Alpha and Reyna they were gathering around. Accalia was there, scolding the two slightly as she worked on patching them up. Fenrir glaced at her wound and her blood stained shirt tied around it tightly. Her injury could wait. Fenrir circled around the group until she stood in front of Alpha. and behind Zeus. She pressed a gentle hand onto Zeus' back, sliding it up onto his shoulder as she moved to a spot somewhere between the two. "That's right," Fenrir said, giving Zeus a small smile. Due to her absence she knew little of the hatred Zeus had for Alpha, but she could feel the tension between the two. She turned to Alpha, chuckling softly as Accalia continued to chastise him. Fenrir was still getting used to this; to seeing him whenever she pleased; to wake up and have him near. She turned to Zeus, acting as if she was whispering to him but keeping her voice at normal volume for Alpha to hear. "This guy," she said, gesturing to Alpha and shaking her head, "hogging up the doctor every day". Fenrir turned to Alpha, a humerous smile touching her lips.

Alpha's gaze shifts towards Parker upon his arrival, and he catches Zeph saying something yet he was to soft. Suddenly, Zeus steps in. Zeus had a tendency to speak when out of turn, and it often got him into trouble. He could feel his fangs itching to grow, and his lips quiver in a slight snarl. Before he has a chance to retort, Fenrir steps in. A smile curls over Alpha's lips, the irritation now gone.
"Better me, than you." Alpha says softly, his gaze shifting towards the shirt wrapped around her arm. He could smell the satisfaction wafting off of her like ocean waves, and he knew he wasn't the only one to find humans this morning.
He was curious of her injury, yet decided against pointing out the obvious wound and making an issue about it as surely they would discuss the matter in private. His gaze lingers on Fenrir's for just a moment, before shifting towards Reyna. "You did well against the hunters, you are turning out to be a useful guard." The words that slipped from his lips were organized an intentional, Zeus became a guard before Reyna yet to praise her in his presence would be painful.
Alpha shifts slightly, glancing back at Lia once more. Eventually he looks towards Fenrir once more, and his eyes tell all. Something is changing with the humans, we must speak at once.

KATIA
Just off the edge of the camp, thankfully on the far side of the commotion, curled into her deeply grey tinted tail, Katia had an eye slightly parted to watch her loud pack members in the midst of what seemed like a bit of chaos at the return of Alpha and Reyna. Though she’d not felt even a fleeting desire to wriggle out of the snow she’d dug into and join them, the pale yellow eye was keen to absorb all the details. Alpha would be fine, she knew that; Reyna would be fine, she knew that also. They’d known the risk of going alone to deal with the humans, and now they had a few knicks to deal with because of it. Not her problem. Lia would fix them up as she always did, and they would be mostly healed in a few days.

The smell of blood had awoken her a few times this morning, her frustratingly keen noise wouldn’t let a single thing past her, even in her sleep. The strength of the shifter blood had never been enough to send her into a worry, nor did she feel the need to alert others. Alpha and Reyna were very good at their art.

Generally, Katia had always slept very lightly. The amazing senses wolves were born with seemed even more amplified in Katia, and the army had known it, and they had exploited it and her. Sound tests, scent tests, sight tests, and any other test they could do, attempting to find out why hers had grown more than others. They had forcibly conditioned her to ignore her own body's needs like sleep, just to listen to her senses.

Sleep was short and fitful, constantly. Her moods were often volatile and unpredictable because of it and the army. Very rarely did she let herself show any of that. To the pack, she was just the quiet, small grey wolf, who could track nearly anything, anywhere.

Alena was all alone. She never grew up in the arms of loved ones. She has been and will forever be alone. Alena couldn't quite understand it, but she never questioned it. She couldn't really do anything about it, could she? She was a scout, which was a pretty low position in a pack such as this one. She usually helped the guards survey the lands or she would go out and find food. But now that winter has come, she is trying to find food that she could bring back to feed the others. Alena was all alone in the forest, the camp was a couple of paces back so she didn't hesitate one bit to try and find food. Alena was walking around in her human form, looking for food. All the animals went into hibernation so she couldn't really find many of them out here. All she could rely on was her sense of smell.

Alena could smell blood from somewhere, it was faint but it still lingered in the air. She followed the scent and saw a baby deer near its mother. Both animals covered in blood, she knew the mother was dead, seeing as to how the baby deer was clinging to its mother dead body. Alena felt guilt and sadness for what she was about to do. But could a dangerous predator like herself be gifted with emotions such as these? Alena tried to scare it away, but she couldn't. She didn't want to hurt the baby deer. Alena didn't do anything, she stepped back and channeled all her emotions and energy into one focus, she relaxed, making herself completely numb before she transformed into a wolf. Her fur gently danced in the wind as she set her paw forward and then the other and began moving towards the baby deer and its mother. Alena watched as the baby deer became frightened and started to step back. But Alena couldn't hear it's soft grunts and whimpers as Alena took its mother by the neck with her sharp teeth and slowly turned around.

1oRU8YH.gif

(Don't mind the cute little monkey in the gif, I just wanted a reference) Alena dashed off with the deer in her mouth, trying not to look back. This deer was going to feed everyone in the pack and that made her happy that everyone was going to be fed. As for herself, she didn't want to eat it. When she got back to the camp, she walked over to the center of the camp and placed the huge deer down slowly on the ground. Blood was dripping from her mouth and staining the beautiful white snow and her fur.

Alena looked at the deer and felt that terrible guilt in her heart again. Now that deer was going to be alone, by itself, alone, just like Alena. Alena had no mate, she had nobody basically. Alena slowly walked away from the deer so that others can feed. Alena hoped that they were satisfied with what she brought. Alena made her way back into the forest. She couldn't let herself watch them devour the deer, so she left before they did. Alena decided it was best to wash the blood from her fur. Alena had this one secret place that she would go to. It was a Hot Spring. Nobody had claimed it as far as she knows and it's a place where she can relax. Once she got there, she shifted back. She was bare, she immediately got into the warm water.

Alena watched as the blood that was once on her, slowly flow into the water. She looked up at the sky as she tried to wash away the guilt.

"It sure is quiet, being alone," she said to herself.

Accalia

Accalia shook her head as the Alpha explained himself. Humans, of course. She thought, shaking her head slightly as Alpha lifted his tattered shirt, revealing a nasty slice in his back. Not only was it deep and long, but it seemed to be turning unnaturally red-- aside from the blood that was everywhere. Lia sighed. This part of the job never gets easier.

Seeing her pack hurt was one thing, but having the job of closely studying each and every wound made Lia feel her own heart was being sliced through. Not that she ever let on. Regardless of her hiding it, the experiences were always taxing. Always.

Readying a rag of clean water as she looked at the other wounds on Alpha, feeling a small sense of relief that the slice in his back seemed to be the worst. But only a small sense.

Lia reached forwards, lightly touching the jagged edges of the wound in his back. It was puffy and red, and warm to the touch. She was sure her fingers felt cold on his skin. But no matter what he felt, Lia had to look closer. Upon inspection, Accalia let go of the man's back and decided it would definitely need stitches- stitches that the Alpha would certainly tear within 24 hours. There were always reasons to fight, it seemed.

The leader turned slightly, meeting Lia's eyes as he asked how bad it was. Accalia picked up on a hint of teasing, though he really did need a status report.

"Well, nothing that'll kill you. Not yet, at least. Here, take a couple of these for the pain." Lia offered, sifting through the couple of pills they had, picking a bottle labeled 'morphine'. She still wasn't entirely clear on how much of each pill should be used, but she had faith in the longevity of her wolves-- the worst that could happen would be a little wooziness. Probably.

Lia poured out two pills, handing them to Alpha, then looked up at Reyna. "Go ahead and take one of these while you wait. Once it kicks in, it will help with the pain." She said, making sure the lid was on the bottle before tossing it to the other shifter. She returned to her wet rag, wiping away the blood around the wound on Alpha's back. After cleaning it with water, Lia draped the rag over the side of the pail, retrieving some antibiotics.

Walking through the steps in her mind, Lia put ointment into the wound, which should've felt relieving, then stitched the wound together, then moved on to the wounds on his ribs, giving them the same treatment. Once she had sewn shut all three slices, she wrapped bandages around a large portion of the injured shoulder and ribs. She knew the wrappings wouldn't last, what with all the constant moving that Alpha did, but she hoped they would stay at least for a while.

"That should hold you over for a while." Lia said, looking up to notice that there had been a number of additions to the group. That explained why Alpha's chest had seemed to rumble occasionally. He was talking. Three more people had shown up, talking to Alpha and each other while Lia had worked. She had been so wrapped up in what she had been doing that she hadn't even heard most of the conversation.

"Alright, Reyna, your turn." Lia said, not moving from where she sat. The supplies were all strewn about the healer, apparently thrown to the ground when she had finished using them. In reality, Accalia placed every item in a place she would be able to find again when she worked on the second wolf. And nothing that had to be kept clean was really touching any dirt-- the caps were on, the bandages were off the ground and the needle and thread were sitting In the top half of an open first aid kit.

Looking up, Lia saw that Zephyr had shifted to his human form, and was offering his shirt to help stop the bleeding for Reyna. It was noble, but the shirt was now ruined, and Lia had felt confident Reyna wouldn't have bled out. Trying her best to keep her sarcasm at bay, Lia sighed and said, "Well, hurry up then, Zephyr has now sacrificed his shirt for your sake, don't want to take any more clothes from him."

It was at this moment that Lia's gaze shifted to another injured person, this time Fenrir. She had no shirt on, and a cloth that definitely wasn't bandages wrapped around her arm. "What happened to you?" Lia asked Fenrir, but her attention had mostly shifted to peeling the shirt away from Reyna's wound so that Lia could clean it.

JASON JONES

Swallowing deeply when he heard about the humans, Jason's mind began to race about whether it was true. If the humans were getting closer to catching them again. Once sat down however, Jason smiled over to Parker. There was something about him that always comforted him. The fact that even though he was missing a leg was an inspiration. Most others would most likely lay down and let the vultures circle round yet this one specific wolf showed how everyone was wrong. That he can do everything that everyone else can do. Shrugging slightly however, Jason wasn't always sure what he could and couldn't tell people.
"I umm. I went over the last hill, into the forest for the night. Nightmares again."
Only a sigh came through his maw before he tried to lighten up the situation slightly. "Even if there had been a bigger group, all would have been fine. We are the greatest creatures in the world or we not?" Jason stopped for a moment before shaking his head. He knew that others wouldn't really think of it that way and Jason for sure was one of them that didn't.

Should they have been the greatest creatures in the world, perhaps Sophie wouldn't be dead. He thought to himself. The one person he'd loved in the world and she was gone already, so young and so precious life is but a string waiting for the scissors to cut the elastic of breath. Looking over to Alpha, Jason winced slightly as Lia continued the work she was made to do. Almost. Jason always looked to her as the mother hen, you get a 'booboo' go see 'momma' Lia. Even with her bluntness she was still someone Jason was found of. But when the Alpha began to speak to Reyna about her being a useful guard, his ears pinned back and eyelids dropped heavy. He wasn't there when his Alpha needed him. He wasn't even out from the camp guarding but running from his own fears. Slowly Jason stood up onto his paws and nodded towards them all. "I'll be in my tent if you need anything."

Zephyr helped Reyna down so Lia could see to her. He looked around the group and he didn't need to be a psychic to tell that pack morale was low. He pursed his lips in thought. This wouldn't do. At least Fenrir had kept her sense of humour. He heard her comment and pointed to her as he spoke: "I know right? Alpha geez, so selfish." He was grinning like an idiot, a normal expression for Zephyr.
"
Oh Lia, you're a miracle worker you know that? Like, half the pack'd be dead three times over if we didn't have you." He said it jokingly but everyone knew it was true. He listened to her curt but caring instructions.
"
Dr. Lia is the best," he concluded finally. He was playing it up. A lot. The pack was in a collective slump and he felt he needed to at least try and turn things around. Despite probably annoying some, he checked over at Zeus to make sure the older wolf wasn't planning on shutting him up in a painful way.
He heard Lia's snappy comment about him providing his clothes and grinned broadly, that opportunity was too hard to pass up. He leaned closer to the healer with a mock-seductive smile. "
Oh I'll donate as many clothes as you need."
Zephyr danced back with a laugh after that so Lia couldn't hit him if she'd wanted to, changing back into his white wolf form in mid leap. It was starting to get cold.
Zephyr watched the faces of his pack, hearing Jason's confident assessment, whether or not the others agreed, Zephyr leapt on the words.
"
Jason's right. We were designed to be the best, there's nothing we can't get through. No, dude don't shake your head, I know you believe it too."
When his shirt was no longer needed he took it back, holding it gingerly between his front teeth.
"
I'w ge' dis washed. Anybody ewf haf waundry?" He said with the mouthful of cloth and trotted away back towards camp. On his way back he noticed that someone had caught breakfast, and by the scent left on the animal it had been Alena. Zephyr went back to his small corner of the camp where he had amassed a collection of things under a small shelter. He rummaged in a pile for a few moments and withdrew a small plastic packet. This he took with the shirt up the hill.
He knew about the hot springs, it was the only place where he knew he could wash the blood from his shirt, and he liked this shirt. He stopped at the edge of the pool where the steam obscured his vision and clouded his sense of smell and placed the garment in the water.
He watched the blood seep out of it.
"
You know, it's a good thing this is black," he said to himself. Just then the steam was blown away by a gust and he caught sight of a pink shape in the water.
"
Wah! I'm sorry!" Zephyr turned around so quickly he tangled his paws and fell face-first into the snow at the pool's edge.
"
Totally didn't see you there, I just wanted to wash my shirt...you know we should really get a sign for this place...'currently in use' or something." He found the small plastic packet and stared at it on the ground intently.
"
Um..thanks for getting breakfast," he said a little awkwardly, "I'm usually all for pounds of bloody raw meat but...today I was thinking...you wanna share some steamed hot dogs?" He pushed the packet behind him without turning around so Alena could see what it was. Sure enough, it was ten fat hot dogs shrink wrapped in brightly coloured packaging.
"
Got if off a Seveneleven on the edge of town. These are literally the best dogs."

Parker let out a soft sigh and looked off to the right, and past Jason. "It would appear you weren't the only one to leave the camp last night either." He explained as he watched Alena drag the carcass of an elk into the middle of the clearing, drop it, and proceed to leave without a word. He continued to stare after her as she climbed a slope and disappeared over the edge. Where she had been last night, he didn't have a clue. Upon further inspection, her and Jason still weren't the only ones to have left.

"Zeus seems to have skipped out on guard duty for the night as well." Parker studied as the large wolf who was almost a full foot taller than he was, strode into the camp looking less cheerful than even Alpha, who was having stab wounds closed up. "What's the use in calling you two guards if you simply leave your posts?" He was surprised to hear himself joking around. Normally he was his usual serious, simple self. Then he realized he may have sounded more like himself than he had intended.

"I am sure Alpha will understand. He can be more forgiving than you think." He said in a desperate attempt to reassure his technical brother, though, he hardly believed what he was saying himself. "I'm sorry to hear you're still having those dreams. Sophie again?" He looked to Jason, but he appeared to be lost in thought, staring at Alpha and Lia with what could have been concealed shame?

"I'll be in my tent if you need anything." Jason said with a nod and wandered off behind Parker, who remained seated. He wondered about what Jason had said, about how they were the greatest creatures in the world. There was no denying that they were quite literally bred to be intelligent, lethal, killing machines. That much had been discovered by Alpha, whom of which seemed to have recovered quite well already, along with Reyna. Accalia was a fantastic healer. Anytime a member of the Pack needed any kind of medical attention, she always managed to patch them up in the best way possible, and with little to no difficulty.

Parker was pleased to see the people he had grown up aspiring to be were looking better. Then, without warning, his thoughts shifted back to Alena. Where had she gone to last night? Had she been scouting? Parker had chosen to rest, while his fellow scout had returned with a full meal that could easily feed the entire Pack for a day. Perhaps she had gone off somewhere to rest? Nevertheless, he stood up, tilting a bit, and turned to follow her when he almost bumped directly into Zeus, and right next to him stood Fenrir.

"Shit, er, sor-..." His voice fell quiet and cursed himself as he failed to suppress a whimper when he saw her standing there. There was a moments silence, and he limped around them, shivering, and not because of the cold.

He hadn't even noticed how close they had come to him and Jason. In fact, he hadn't even noticed Fenrir return to the camp. She ended up disappearing at times, for days, or even weeks on end, and then showing up once more; quietly, like a ghost. Parker must have been lost in thought at the time she showed up. He ignored a twinge in his left thigh, and kept moving; climbing the little hill and looking for Alena.

><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><

It only took a few minutes to figure out where Alena had gone off to. It didn't take being ranked as a tracker for him to follow her scent. When he found her, she was lying in a hot spring in her human form, and at the edge of the water was Zephyr, who appeared to be offering a package of hot dogs to her. He walked up alongside Zephyr and nodded his greeting. "Hello Zephyr." He then turned his attention to Alena, who was clearly naked under the water, though this didn't bother Parker as much. He had seen some of the others naked before, on accident of course, including the beet-red Zephyr who stood next to him.

"The Pack thanks you for the meal you've provided." He said, not realizing Zephyr had already thanked her himself, and he stepped up with difficulty and lowered himself into the heated water, deciding not to morph back to his human form. "I wasn't particularly hungry though." He explained to the two, and immediately wished he hadn't. "It was still a nice gesture though." He said quickly to Alena, attempting to correct himself. He didn't want to make it seem like her efforts had been a waste of time.

The water felt nice after a night sleeping in the snow. Even with all his fur, he didn't feel overwhelmed by the heat. "Where did you go to last night?" Parker probed to Alena.

Jason glanced back and nodded to Parker when he brought up Sophie being the main cause of his dreaded dreams. Not only was he not able to protect her, but now he isn’t even able to keep his mind straight to protect the pack that he cares for the most in the world now. Even such large and brutal killing machines feel the emotion of love and pain. Yet guilt was the biggest at the moment. When entering his tent he gazed round. He had nothing special in there. A simple blanket crumpled up into nothing but a mess and a pillow made of duck feathers he’d made a few months back when they first left off. A small chest that was nothing but a few planks of tree bark put together with rope he’d stolen from a human camp. He was the only thing that left alive from there, women, men and children didn’t take another step, not even the horses that they were using to travel around the uneven lands and snowy range of the mountains.

Cracking of his bones sounded again as he became human once more. Looking over to a shard of mirror that sat on top of the wooden chest he realised how much he had let his facial hair take over, how dark his under eyes were from lack of sleep and how skinny he was becoming from giving away some of his meals. Shaking his head he threw the shard off the top and opened up the chest taking out some spare clothes and changing into something a little more clean. Smiling he felt slightly better not being so dirty, cleansing the body can cleanse the soul was something he always used to think of. But there were others outside he felt needed to hear that more.

Exiting out he took in a breath before walking over to the group around Alpha and Lia who was taking care of Reyna. He crossed over his arms looking to the Alpha with a more serious and concentrated look as he spoke. “We going to have to relocate, I take it?” Jasons eyebrow raised as he asked. With the injuries some around them all had, there was little chance they’d be able to move without pain anytime soon. Yet with the strongest of them most likely out of action, word could travel soon and more disgusting pink beings could come closer and closer.

Alena felt at peace, she felt relaxed. The thought of the baby deer still lingered in her mind. She wondered where it was or if it had survived. There was a gentle breeze when the wind blew over the Hot Spring, it even blew away some of the steam from the water. It felt nice. Alena was glad that she was the only one who knew about the Hot Spring, she thinks. Alena's ears perked up when she heard footsteps, she could have sworn she was alone in these parts. She slowly turned around to where she thought she had heard the sound and she slowly submerged her body from the shoulders down in the water.

A slight gust of wind blew once more and she saw a figure, it was none other than Zephyr. "You know you shouldn't just creep around here like that," Alena bluntly said as she covered her chest with both of her arms. Alena watched Zephyr and his body language, she was a bit taken back when he offered her some hot dogs. Alena tilted her head slightly when she saw him push something behind him. "Well...I would assume if you didn't like it raw, then you should have cooked it." She muttered, knowing that he probably didn't eat it. She went through all that guilt for him not to eat it, great. Alena slowly walked towards him while she was in the water and shook her head slightly. "Sure," she said to him when he offered.

Before Alena could say anything else she heard another footstep. She knew that they weren't alone. Alena just didn't like it how her secret spot, wasn't so secret anymore. "Parker..." she said when she saw that it was him. Alena didn't understand why they all were coming here, and now she was feeling a bit embarrassed. Alena didn't need to hear that the two of them didn't eat it or wasn't such a fan of the deer that she had brought. Alena watched as Parker went into the water, she moved away from the two and went on the other side. "Where I was last night?" She repeated under her breath. "Well...why do you want to know? Has something happened?" Alena added.

She could feel her face getting warmer and warmer, she was blushing. She knew she couldn't turn her back to them because she didn't want them seeing her back, but she really didn't like the position that she was in. Also, why was Parker interrogating her, did something really did happen? She knew she wouldn't be answering any more questions until he told her why she was being asked this question.

Fenrir

Fenrir sent Alpha an unimpressed look as he subtly slighted Zeus. It seemed as if though neither of them wanted to ease the tension between them, only take jabs at eachother when the opporunity arose. It was quite unbecoming of them both. She looked past Alpha, catching a glimspe of a shameful Jason as he trudged into his tent. Fenrir shot an accusing look at Alpha but otherwise let it go, especially after he sent her a rather urgent look. She gave a slight nod but returned to her thoughts. She pitied Jason, he was having a difficult time adjusting to his mate being gone. She had pieced together what she could of the story while innocently eavesdropping on a conversation between Jason and Parker. Fenrir had never thought much on the topic of mates but she was sure they were diffult to have in everyone's current situation. The worry of not being able to protect them would be a constant crushing weight. Fenrir realized she already bore that crushing weight upon her shoulders. Her worry stretched to every member of the pack, even if they weren't fond of her.

Speaking of which, Fenrir's body shifted slightly as Parker collided with Zeus whom her hand was still on the shoulder of. He seemed apologetic at first but froze when his eyes drifted onto her. A friendly smile began to grace her face but faltered and fell as a heartbreaking whimper escaped a cowering Parker. Fenrir's body stiffed as a wave of self hate consumed her. He limped away as fast as he could, his entire body trembling. Fenrir glanced over at Alpha, her ember-like eyes zoning in on the long scar blemishing his face. Her jaw clenched and her eyebrows furrowed slightly. Accalia's voice stole her gaze away from Alpha."Nothing, Lia, it's fine," Fenrir commented dismissively before turning and walking in the opposite direction of where Parker had gone just before Jason approached. Oh, how her heart ached. Parker had a perfectly good reason to be afraid of her. She remembered it clearly, his tiny leg between her wolfish jaws, everyone screaming in horror as their eldest sister turned on them, Alpha trying his best to pry her jaws apart. She remembered how much she loved it. Fenrir inhaled sharply at the thought, clenching her fists hard enough to turn her knuckles a papery white. She wanted to punch herself now more than ever. Parker still had the right to be afraid. What was going to happen if they won the war against humans, when they could all live their lives without killing? Fenrir couldn't do that. She couldn't live without it. She needed the humans. Without them, it was only a matter of time before she turned on her packmates once again, and she was afraid this time would be much worse.

Feeling :: Understanding

He lowers his shirt again, hiding his muscular body under the thin black fabric. He turns towards Lia, taking the pills and nodding at her directions before placing them on his tongue and swallowing. He didn't feel like he needed the medicine, yet he wasn't about to argue with her. His gaze softens slightly as he looks down at her, "Thank you, Lia." he says softly, the words flow from his mouth as smooth as velvet. His gaze lingers on her for a moment, before he turns just as Reyna is sitting in front of the healer, Zeph helping her, and Fenrir dismissed Lia's curiosty before walking away. Suddenly, Jason speaks up. Alpha turns towards the young man, and sighs softly. "More than likely, yet that is to be discussed between Fenrir and I."
Alpha glances at Lia once more, giving her an apologetic look before he suddenly shifts into his wolf form. His shoulder ached as the stitches struggled to hold against the sudden change. His muscles were clearly visible under his thick black pelt, as they tightened in the cold weather. Without another word, he trots after Fenrir.
The snow was beginning to fall again, yet it was incredibly light. It didn't take long until he was by her side, yet the massive male didn't say a word. Instead he remained silent, simply looking forward as the pair walked aimlessly. You want to be alone, yet i know you need someone. I know you need me, like i need you. He didn't dare speak these words, yet anyone in their right mind knew it was true. Alpha and Fenrir were close since they met, all those terrible years ago.
I guess i had better show her my hiding spot. he exhales, his breath thick and white as it escapes his parted jaws. "Come with me, please." he says softly, yet without waiting for an answer he quickens his pace into a light run.
Since they had been free, Alpha did a great deal of running, often accompanied by his loyal beta. They often turned it into a playful game, letting of steam as they raced and chased one another, of course neither of them would ever allow the others to see these antics.
His muscles bunched and extended with every powerful bound, his silky black fur bounces with elegance, yet with equal power. His paws stretch in front of him like a rubber band snapping after being pulled, the land stretched beneath his paws as the icy breeze flows through his fur. His amber colored eyes turn onto Fenrir, they were forgiving and gentle.

Zeph's flirty comment only made her cheeks turn darker, she rolls her eyes slightly. She appreciated his flirty attitude, yet it sometimes made her uncomfortable. As Zeph presses his shirt against her wound, she hisses softly, exhaling a pained breath. His question makes her frown, just before she is going to reply, Zeus rudely answers for her. She turns her gaze onto the other guard, her blue eyes visibly distrusting and agitated.
Reyna could recall when Zeus challenged Alpha, yet the guard was beaten.
Suddenly, Alpha praises her actions in their fight. Her cheeks turn rosy again and she nods, unable to reply to the shocking compliment. Reyna eventually finishes Alpha, and beckons her over. Zeph helps her, once she is seated she gives the Omega a grateful nod, before he takes his shirt and leaves.
Suddenly, Alpha shifts into his wolf form and takes off after Fenrir. Reyna tilts her head slightly, looking up at Lia slightly. "Sometimes, i think he gets hurt just so he can see you." she says softly, her words gentle as they flow from her soft lips.
Reyna silently lifts her shirt, exposing her thin abdomen so Lia can begin to patch her up as well. The bleeding was thankfully slowing now, perhaps Zeph had done something right. She smiles slightly, before looking up at Lia again. Her attention was then drawn towards Jason, remembering his question. "I'm sure we will be relocating, Alpha and Fenrir wouldn't put us at risk." She says softly, looking up at the young man with gentle eyes.

KATIA
The smell of the deer blood was finally enough to rouse Katia from her snow bed, though she took her time in doing so. Rolling to her side, she stretched her front and rear legs as if she was in a full sprint, her muscles shifting and pulling, stretching themselves as if a section at a time. As her limbs pull back in, her jaw opens wide in a quiet but very large and seemingly over exaggerated yawn. Her tongue snakes out to lick her chops as she sits up eventually.

“No fire.. Hmm.” Her dull yellow eyes rest on the firepit in disdain, a small grumble sounding deep in her chest. Mentally bracing herself, her eyes squint as she shifts, her human form bringing the inevitable pain and discomfort. As she grimaced through the last few cracks and jabs of pain, she popped back into her tent to retrieve some clothing to cover herself, and though she’d never held shame in being naked in front of the pack, she knew it was just more decent.

Emerging once dressed in her fur mantle, grey leggings and thin jacket, she set about starting the fire. While the raw deer smell made her salivate something fierce, she’d learned long ago that raw meat does not sit well in her apparently more human stomach.

Figuring she should seem at least a little social, she clears her throat quietly once the fire is started and looks to the few remaining, asking of no one in particular,
“Want me to cook you some deer with mine?”

"I just said I was sorry," Zephyr repeated with a smile, though she couldn't see it because his back was still turned politely.
"
I usually don't see anyone up here, the hot water makes doing laundry easier." It was the vice of experience, Zephyr was often cleaning clothes when the others were doing jobs important to the pack's security. Someone had to keep the camp running.
Alena mentioned the deer, "
I said I'm all for deer meat, I wasn't being sarcastic. I know how hard it is to catch food." Zephyr wasn't talking about the physicality of it, he also struggled with wrapping his head around the act. Still, they had to eat, and going anywhere near human settlements, abandoned or otherwise was dangerous. Zephyr really shouldn't have gone in the old empty convenience store, but the freezers were still working, and he really liked hot dogs.
"
I'll eat some for sure, after the hot dogs."
He opened the packet and slid a few into the water, making a wave to send several over in the direction Alena had gone. At that point Parker appeared.
"'
Sup Parker." Zephyr lifted a paw in greeting, still watching his hot dogs and keeping his back turned from Alena. He watched the water rise as the large wolf sank into it. When he said he wasn't hungry Zephyr nudged his shoulder with his hind foot.
"
Dude don't tell her that, you're gonna make her feel bad." He said, trying to be subtle.
Then Parker asked to know where she had been.
"
Um, she's a scout right? I assume she was scouting." Zephyr idly picked a hot dog out of the water and tested it with his tongue, it was done. He flipped his head, tossing the meat up and catching it.
"
Mmmmoh yes. I haven't tasted hot dogs in weeks....so good. Hey, ease up on Alena and have a dog bro," he pushed one of the sausages towards Parker in the water, "we're all okay, that's what matters."
Zephyr continued to lie on the bank, eating his hot dogs and waiting for the water to clean his shirt.
"
Alpha and Ryena caught humans close to camp." Zephyr revealed quietly, not turning around to see Alena's reaction.
"
I think Parker was worried about you."
He gave the other male a mischievous wink.

Though the rest of his visage gave nothing away, his blue eyes gave away his satisfaction at seeing Alpha ticked off. He could see Alpha was barely restraining his urge to let his wolf side take over.
Don't restrain it, he thought. Don't let that puny human side of yours always have full control. He opened his mouth to say more, only to be stopped by a gentle hand placed on his back then traveling up to his shoulder, making him freeze. His heart hammered and he felt something so uncharacteristically close to the feeling of butterflies in one's stomach. Tha fact that Fenrir was agreeing with him made the satisfaction ten times more potent. He struggled to keep a straight face, as he always does when in Fenrir's presence. She's back, he thought, contentment rushing through him. He stole a glance at her as she turned to look at Alpha, her small, discreet smile making his hardened features soften just a bit.
Once again, Zeus wondered how Fenrir could have such a powerful impact on him. She shattered his seemingly impenetrable walls almost effortlessly, her smiles disarmed him almost completely and with every minute spent with her, Zeus felt his desire for her grow.
Zeus glanced at Zephyr, making a mental note to try and stop criticizing his undying admiration for Reyna. It seemed the youth and the seasoned guard both had something in common. A sudden thought struck Zeus; the only reason why he was having such intricate and complex feelings for Fenrir was because of his human side. He dismissed the thought immediately. Still doesn't change the fact that it makes room for weaknesses, he thought stubbornly. Deficiency means death.

Zeus's train of thought was delightfully interrupted as Fenrir turned to him, a spark in her eyes, joking about how often Alpha ends up in Lia's care. Zeus stiffened ever so slightly, seeing how joyous Fenrir was when with Alpha. Happy. Could she be like that with him? That question went unanswered as Zeus's attention was needed once more as he picked up Alpha's insulting praise to Reyna, telling her how much of a fine and useful guard she was blossoming into. Zeus picked up the well-veiled jab right away, his intense stare boring straight through Reyna and then to Alpha. It nerved him yes, but Zeus was careful to let it slide. There was no need to drag when Fenrir was finally home---

And just like that, Zeus almost stumbled onto his rear, caught by surprise. He gained his composure thankfully, though his annoyance was bubbling over the top. He turned to glare straight at the cause of his near-fall---Parker.

Zeus often liked to call the scout Alpha's little errand lupis boy. Just as anyone here, Parker's loyalties lay with the Pack, and ultimately Alpha. The most irritating thing about him was his habit of snitching to Alpha whenever an ill word was spoken about the leader. And unsurprisingly, though he mostly keeps them to himself, it was most often Zeus who'd be caught saying an 'ill word' about Alpha. Zeus felt a low growl begin in the very depths of his throat. Parker began to whimper, but not because of him it seemed. Zeus watched as fear ignited in his eyes upon looking at Fenrir. Zeus could feel Fenrir stiffen slightly, and when Parker left, Fenrir turned around instantly, a miserable aura following her. It was no wonder. Everyone knew about how Parker had lost his left leg---and it reminded Zeus at how beastly Fenrir could be. Her desire to kill was frightening to most---a desire so strong that Zeus wondered whether it exceeded any of their own. He had seen her in action---it was a mixture of glorious violence and overwhelming cruelty, action that sent a thrill through Zeus. He glanced at his hands, seeing the blood was already drying up on his fingers. If that were really true, then Parker had every right to be afraid. In fact, why shouldn't they all be afraid? Zeus knew he feared her and respected her and loved her. Was it a good combination? Another unanswered question.

Zeus wanted to wash the blood away, and while he could just simply use snow, he wouldn't stand the frigidness that came with it. He needed something decently warm to wash his hands, maybe even take some sort of relaxing bath. The obvious answer was the springs. They were a considerable distance on foot, so Zeus figured he had to shape shift, knowing the discomfort it brought with it. Soon, Zeus was no longer on two legs---now there were four, accompanied by a thick sheen of fur and muscle, which Zeus welcomed, shielding away the cold and giving him a new surge of strength. He began his trek there before pausing, wondering whether he should ask Fenrir to join him. He glanced around only to see Alpha, back in his wolf form, catch up to a quitting Fenrir. Zeus whipped his gaze towards the ground again, growling a bit in vexation as he slowly began to continue. A slightly faint but delicious scent reaches his sensitive nose---deer meat.
