First Contact

Nagao inhales deeply, bringing his right palm to his solar plexus, parallel to the ground and his left palm to his sternum, fingers upwards, in an energy-gathering gesture familiar to most martial artists of Creation. His gloves shimmer imperceptibly with essence, as a magnificent mandala coloured in sunset hues, with a brilliant eye in its center, unfolds from his anima, dominating the space above and behind him. Closing his eyes for a moment, he recites a mantra with a gradually increasing voice.

"Fists of Orichalcum - Molten Sun.
Thunder and Lightning - Heavenly Judgement
Celestial Light - Darkness Dissolved."

As the mantra reaches its crescendo, the sound of an incoming storm fills the area and from perfect stillness, Nagao erupts into a blur of lethal action. He leaps forward, the starmetal inscription on his Perfected Kata Bracers, radiating in luminous Old Realm script engulfing his arms, as he draws his left hand back while in mid-air and reaches the Voice that Echoes From the Heart of Darkness, his fists coming down multiple times upon the soulsteel-clad Exalt with the unmistakeable crashing sound of thunder, as he attempts to batter him into submission.

OOC/Combat
Activating Orichalcum Fists of Battle - scene long - from peripheral essence pool
Cost: 10m, 1wp; Mins: Martial Arts 6, Essence 6;
Type: Reflexive
Keywords: Combo-Basic, Obvious
Duration: One scene
Prerequisite Charms: Solar Hero Supremacy

The Solar’s fists crash with the sound of thunder as they batter her opponents into submission.

- The Solar multiplies her Strength by her Essence for the purpose of calculating the raw damage of her unarmed attacks.
- These attacks ignore hardness.

Activating Hammer on Iron - instant - from peripheral essence pool
Cost: 3m, 1wp; Mins: Martial Arts 4, Essence 2;
Type: Extra Action
Keywords: Combo-OK, Enhanced
Duration: Instant
Prerequisite Charms: Solar Hero Form

The Lawgivers’ arts of battle bring an unrelenting punishment to their enemies. This Charm is a magical flurry of many unarmed Martial Arts-based attacks. The Exalt makes a total number of attacks equal to (her Essence + 1). This Charm lets the Solar make these attacks regardless of her weapon’s Rate, without multiple action penalties and with a DV penalty equal to the highest penalty for any one attack. She must make all of her attacks against the same target.

Enhancement: This Charm creates (Essence + 3) attacks, which may be directed at multiple targets if the Solar desires.

Attacking Voice with a flurry of 9 attacks created from my Hammer on Iron extra action charm.

Speed 5.

Accuracy is 31 dice per attack.

Damage 18A plus extra successes.

Ignores Hardness.

Each attack that hits and rolls damage also inflicts a cumulative -2 stunning penalty, due to Solar Hero Supremacy (permanent charm)
Cost: —; Mins: Martial Arts 5, Essence 5; Type: Permanent
Keywords: Mirror (Agony of the Black Messiah), Stackable
Duration: Permanent
Prerequisite Charms: Fists of Iron Technique

The Chosen of the Most High need no esoteric lessons to rock the world back on its heels—their strength and prowess are weapons enough.

The Solar’s unarmed attacks automatically stun opponents they strike and roll damage against (see Exalted, p. 153). This stunning effect is cumulative—if a Solar made a three-attack flurry and struck his opponent with all three attacks, his target would suffer a -6 internal penalty until the Solar’s next action

Successes (all, not just extra ones) on my attack rolls, count twice, (but solely) for the purpose of determining raw damage (and not for overcoming opponent's DVs) via my Solar Hero Form style. (utilised if able at step 7 of combat resolution)

Nagao's magical flurry of blows is awesome in the extreme. The first few hits stagger the dark Exalt, and as you continue to hammer away at him, you can feel his bones breaking under the force of your punches. Finally, a large gout of blood comes out from the helmet, spit up from the shattered gut, signaling the end of this opponent.

The little one called the Necromancer raises up her hand and releases a stored spell from one of her hearthstones, and a stream of obsidian butterflies shoots out at the flesh golem. The razor sharp pieces of stone rip into the body of the construct, tearing away large hunks of flesh. Much of it has been burned or sliced away, but there is still fight left in the thing. After sending the spell on its way, she drops down to one knee with blood running over her hands as she holds her injured side.

It lets out a bellow of rage from its many mouths and it lowers its heads down and charges at Ash and Thunder, leveling a powerful swing from its meaty hand. Arynne Arynne what is your DV?

Turning to the present, she rushes towards the malevolent monster of necrotic Essence and rotten flesh and tears through it. It is not so much like a hot knife through butter, but rather like the Sun itself tearing through a mountain.

The beast is easy to hit, and it seems to lack any major armor. But what it does have is sheer mass of bulk to be able to absorb damage for a long time. Khutulun's sword slices deep into the body of the thing, burning and scorching flesh away from the blade with your holy power.

As you make your strike, the thing reaches out to you with some of its many arms and tries to grapple you as a Counterattack. You are able to easily bat away the clawing hands before any can get a grasp on you.

Still in the middle of her rage, Weiss turns on the Exalt with the Essence cannon. With a blur of attacks, she strikes with her Glaive three times.

With a blur of metal, the Glaive strikes at the Exalt with the dark Essence cannon. With a swift swing of his weapon, the first slice is knocked away, but the other two manage to hit home and bite deep. With only light armor on, your blade strike cuts him nearly in two.

With the gargantuan monster under attack from her comrades and at close range, Ash and Thunder seize the moment. Redirecting momentum from the monster's heavy buffet, the mighty warstrider drops to one knee suddenly, so that the weapon mounted on Thunder's other shoulder is lined up squarely with his enemy's midsection.

The cartridges of her flame projector have long been empty -- unlike alchemical fuel pellets, firedust would not retain its potency for a thousand years. But a student of the Righteous Master knows that a fire of her own burns ever within her, needing only her will to make it manifest.

Tongues of gossamer golden flame burst forth from the weapon's barrel, flames of the purest Essence, needing no firedust to kindle them, backed with the cleansing power of a priest of the Unconquered Sun. Exalt and god fused as one, the warstrider roars one word, one name, one invocation:

"INVICTUS!"

Combining Phantom Flamebolt Prana (2m) with 1st Martial Arts Excellency (8m) and adding Righteous Judgement (3m) to increase her damage by 4 and Enemy Castigating Solar Judgment (2m) to make the attack Holy. Anima now fully iconic, activating her Zenith Caste powers: +10 to both soak and +6 minimum damage against a CoD. When Nagao closes into melee range of the monster, numerous smaller arms reach out to grab you, tearing at your clothes to try and pull you in. It is easy enough for the martial arts master to duck and weave your way close to the body of the thing to deliver your own stunning blow. Bones shatter under the force of the impact, and the thing is staring to show signs of the extreme damage that has been done to it.

Ash levels her cannon at the monster and lets fly with a massive gout of flame. The smell of scorched flesh fills the air as the holy flame burns bright. Whatever force that was holding the thing together must have reached its limit, because as it burns, it begins to fall apart and collapse under its own weight. The flames are consuming the remains quickly, releasing a cloud of oily black smoke into the air.

The Necromancer looks up at the Exalts around her. "You must stop the airship from leaving. They will report back to Walker in Darkness with the failure of the Exalts, and he will make it his mission in life to end you all." With that message given, she forces herself to stand. On her forehead, a Caste mark blazes a bright red, striking in its appearance in that it looks to be a dark mockery of the Twilight Caste Solar Exalted. With a dark purple anima billowing out from her, she begins the task of Shaping a Necromancy spell, with her attention locked on the ship as it floats in the air above your heads.

Up on the airship, there are dozens of ghosts and other dead that are staring in shock at Weiss.

Totally unaware of the warning provided by the Necromancer, Weiss looks about for fresh targets as she is still in the middle of her rage. With her Glaive in hand, she begins to methodically move through the walking dead on the ship, striking out at targets that either move to attack her or are not fast enough to get away from her advance.
With my White Reaper Form active, I have a Rate of 3 with the Glaive. "Oh, fuck," Khutulun mutters to herself at the Necromancer's words. With a burst of Essence, great wings of light spread from her armor and lift her into the sky.

"Weiss, do you have any idea who's driving this thing?" she calls out as she approaches her Lunar Mate on the airship. Without stopping to wait for an answer, she strides through the scrambling dead as if they weren't there, the monstrous creatures beneath her notice. Instead, her focus is on the ship itself, if there's still someone in charge, there should be a sign of it somewhere.

Some of the ghosts on deck scatter before Weiss' onslaught, while a few try to gang up on you. The ones brave (or foolish) enough to try to attack you are no match for you, getting in each other's way more than anything. The three ghosts that you strike with your Glaive dissolve into a rough patch of ectoplasm.

"Oh, fuck," Khutulun mutters to herself at the Necromancer's words. With a burst of Essence, great wings of light spread from her armor and lift her into the sky as her sword tears through the flesh of the monster's back, opening it up for the others to strike at its core.
The monster has already fallen and is now a burning pile of flesh, thanks to Ash and Thunder using the Flamepiece. If you want, you can still cut open the thing to let the flames get to the core of the monster, but you can save your Essence you were spending on that. What do you wish to do?

The doorframe shatters under the impact of your foot, and as you stride in, there are four figures in the control room; two ghosts, one living mortal, and a Dragon Blood Exalt. Three of the four are backing away from you in obvious fear, knowing that there is no way that they can face off against such a force of nature as you. The forth one that is standing his ground is the Exalt. He is wearing lightweight Jade armor and has a pair of hook Diaklaves on his belt. He makes no attempt to draw his weapons, and has a look on his face showing that he is expecting to be killed no matter what he does, and is trying to face his death with some measure of dignity.

What do you do when you are faced with this scene?

Psychie Psychie is up

Khutulun points her massive blade at the single brave Exalt before her and says, "your master's prized pets are slain, both the Deathknights and the Hekatonkhire, or whatever that thing was. You're free to join them in death or stand down. If you chose the latter, be a nice boy and tell me if anyone has been able to send a message back to your master, and if it's possible to drive this abomination of an airship from anywhere else."

With Khutulun now up on the ship with her, and seeing that there is little to be able to threaten her, she takes a deep breath and tries to let her rage go. Once the red haze falls from her vision, she looks around and takes stock of the situation to see what is going on up here.

With a threatening glare at the ghosts, she turns and goes to join her Solar in the control room. As she enters, Weiss sees the lone Exalt facing off against Khutulun. Leveling her Glaive at him, she says, "Don't soil your blade on this, my dear. Let me kill him for you." All it will take for her to explode in violence is the barest of gestures from Khutulun

The Dragon Blood holds his head up as he looks the two of you in the eye. "If I have a choice, I choose death by your blade over a lifetime of torture at the hands of the Deathlords. At least your blade will be a quick death compared to what I would face if I was ever caught by my Lord Walker in Darkness." By the look on his face, he is being completely truthful.

"Are you thick in the head, boy?" Khutulun asks, clearly annoyed, "I'm not offering to send you back, that'd be doing none of us a favor. I'm offering you a chance to join the winning team, to stand by Creation and see the Abyss cave in on itself. One of the Deathknights already took me up on that offer, so I don't see why you couldn't as well." She shrugs and lets her blade rest on her shoulder once more, "of course, if you don't have the guts for standing up to someone so blatantly an enemy of all that's good in this world that he calls himself a Deathlord, well then we probably don't have any use for you."

Weiss continues to keep watch, shifting her position about the control room. "Why don't you do the smart thing and relax? Don't you want to be a part of the solution, instead of working for the problem?"

OOC I'm going to kick on my New Friend Aroma on this guy. Perhaps we can win him over to our side.

The Exalt shakes his head, possibly trying to clear away the pheromones he's being assaulted with. "I will not betray my Lord. If I am not to be a prisoner, then just end it now. From birth to death, and even beyond, I serve Walker in Darkness."

Weiss looks at him, then nods. "Very well. I respect the loyalty you have for your master, and I will respect your wishes." Without any other words, she steps forward and drives the Glaive into his chest, trying to be as quick with his end as she can.

With a yank, she pulls the weapon free and looks to the mortal in the room. "What about you? Care to give us the information we seek? Or are you going to join this one in the Underworld?"

OOC Still trying the New Friend Aroma on this guy.

Khutulun banishes her sword Elsewhere and picks out her Echo Jewel, "Weiss and I have, mostly, secured the airship. The pilot's dead and it doesn't seem to be going anywhere right now. Still trying to figure out if they sent a message back and/or if there's a self-destruct or something set. Ash, when you're done with the ones down there, we have a few more corpses up here for you to help get to their proper place."

Down below, on the Slope, the great warstrider still kneels motionless in the position of its last fatal blow. Overhead, though, the towering form of Ash's anima raises both hands in a gesture of praise.

The bodies of the deathly Exalted erupt with pillars of white flame, hot enough to almost instantly turn bone to dust.

When the flames have subsided from a roar to a crackle as they slowly burn down, the anima lifts its head from a pose of somber reflection. Massive golden wings unfurl on either side, and the phantasmal warrior rises into the air towards the ship.

Below, Spring Thunder's thrusters activate, propelling him upwards as he unfolds starmetal-and-orichalcum wings of his own.

With Shedding Infinite Radiance, it costs Ash 0m to cremate every inanimate corpse in her presence. She's now spending 5m to activate the wastrider's flight system. I almost posted a picture of "Wingblade" Optimus Prime, but decided against it. ^;3^

As Ash rises up on Thunders' wings, the Necromancer finishes shaping the Necromancy spell that she was crafting. In a loud voice, she calls out to the remaining ghosts, both on the ground and on the airship. "My minions! Hear me! Lay down your arms! This battle is over. Those on the mountain, let the living round you up and wait for my orders. Those on the ship, prepare for my arrival." With that, she spreads her cloak out wide and it becomes a set of bat wings. Launching herself into the air, she flies up to the deck and gently sets down in the middle of a growing circle of ghosts.

When Ash and Thunder gets up to the ship, you can see that there is a space enough for the Warstrider to land if you wish so you can dismount and examine the ship.

In the command center, the one mortal facing Weiss and Khutulun says in a shaky voice, "I am not ready for my eternal reward of death. I will listen and do as you order."

Weiss plants the butt of the Glaive into the deck and looks at the mortal. "Good choice. First off, are there any other Exalts on board? Were any messages sent out to these Deathlords we have been hearing about, telling them of the deaths of the Exalts that came here? Finally, why was this ship sent here?"
