Fantasy Fire Emblem Divide: Lia x Arika

In the campsite’s training area, a young woman in full armor leaned against a training dummy. Her sword and shield were on the ground. Arika look up at the sky, lost in thought, thinking about all the wonderful places she’d get to travel. She was completely unaware of her surroundings.

Earlier, Arika had decided that she wanted to get some training in to make up for her lack of time on the battlefield. She couldn’t believe they had decided not to take her to Fort Castellum. Her abilities would be priceless for the Legion! But then again, fighting all the monsters sounded pretty terrifying. On the other hand, fighting a blood dragon would really get the blood pumping! Who knows what wonderful people she could’ve met on the battlefield!

Our Cruisin Bruiser Lia was going to get some last minute training done, she hadn’t been on a mission in a while, and she wanted to be ready in case she gets sent out by the time the next mission came along. However, Lia couldn’t find Luna, or anyone else willing to train with her at the moment, so she went to go train by herself.

She went by the Legion training spot, Lia typically trained on her own, but she checked this place out when she was close. Today when she went, Lia noticed someone else was there, leaning on one of the training dummies. At first Lia was going to go up and ask to train with her, but as she got closer she noticed that the girl was kinda spaced out, she hadn’t even noticed Lia walk by. Lia wasn’t going to do anything at first, but then she had an amusing idea. She stepped towards the opposite side of the dummy, and smirked as she gave the dummy a fierce kick, Lia figured that would rattle this girl enough to bring her back to reality and she figured the resulting reaction would be funny. "If you have time to lounge around by the training site, you have time to train," she said in a mocking way. Lia mostly did this just for a laugh, but she would be just fine if she got a training partner out of this.

Just as Arika’s began to shut her eyes, the dummy she was leaning on sent her flying into the dirt! Arika squealed, and landed with a grunt. Quickly, she sat up and looked around, finding that another young woman was standing by the dummy. The woman then started to say something to Arika, but she wasn’t listening. Arika rose to her feet, as her Malthian blood boiled. “You looking to pick a fight fight or something?” Arika asked angrily. Arika knew she almost always lost when it came to fighting, but she sure as hell wouldn’t back down from one! Who did this girl think she was?

Arika reached for her sword, which was usually in its scabbard on her hip. Her hands grasped nothing but air, as she realized her sword was lying on the ground next to the dummy snd her shield! Arika silently cursed, glaring at Lia. “Say you’re sorry or I’ll kick your ass! Got it?”

Lia rolled her eyes in response to this other girls anger, It’s her own fault for not paying attention, She thinks to herself as she looks over at her again, At the very least she was passionate, Lia wouldn’t respect her if she relented so easily. She then looked to the side of the training dummy towards the sword and shield, just as her would-be opponent did the same. Lia chuckled, to think this girl would still pick a fight with her while disarmed, Lia considered for a moment that the girl didn't need it, but doubted that possibility. Regardless, Lia wasn’t gonna back down now, this other girl hadn’t given her a good reason to, she simply taunted, “Why don’t you come over here and make me.” as she got into her stance, waiting for her reaction.

Arika smirked, happy to oblige. “You’re gonna regret this you know!” She brushed the hair from her face, and charged forward as fast as she could and threw a wild uncontrolled punch at the other girl. Arika knew she wasn’t too great at figting without jer actual weapons, so she hoped this punch would he enough to make this annoying girl back off enough to arm herself. Surely her opponent would give up they had to fight someone with real weapons!

Unfortunately, Arika could feel herself horribly of balance. It reminded her of all the other fights she had gotten into...

Much of the investment Lia had in the fight was lost as she looked at her opponent stumble towards her. For a moment she thought this would be a waste of her time, but Lia was willing to give this girl the benefit of the doubt, maybe this was a trick, and she’s concealing her true talent. It was worth seeing if that was the case, so she waited for her opponent to get close enough to attack so Lia could grab their arm and throwing them over her shoulder. She would continue after seeing how she reacts.

Arika wasn’t hiding anything and found herself off the ground bring tossed over the lady! She hit the ground hard, but it wasn’t enough the phase her for long. Arika rolled to the side and scrambled a bit clumsily to her feet, before quickly rushing forwards again. This time she seemed a bit more controlled.

Truthfully, Arika knew she had no chance without her weapons. The lady still stood close to them, so she’d have to make a grab for one of them. Normally this would’ve just been a slugging contest if she were back home, but obviously this girl didn’t fight like a real Malthian. Who the hell did she think she is? Arika’s snarl faded, as she threw a feint but then quickly threw her own armored foot upwards in an attenpt to at least get this lady to retreat a step or two.

Lia chuckles a bit, “come on, don’t telegraph your attacks like that.” She watches her opponent, not as tense as she was before; she felt the girl had spirit, that’s for sure, but she just lacked talent. Lia sees her opponent go for another punch, thinking it the same as before she decides to go for the same thing. So she is shocked when she realizes a kick is coming instead, unable to change her attack she instead decides to dodge stepping back a step.

This impresses Lia, “clever,” she applauds. She thinks to herself, this girl isn’t as bad as she initially thought. She looks down and notices the sword and shield are there, so in a rush she quickly kicks the sword behind her, further away from her foe, “keep trying, you’re getting better.” she says, starting to get into this, this girl had potential, and Lia wanted to see it. Yet it still felt strange, they were probably around the same age, with Lia probably being a little older, but still she wanted to see this girl improve, if only slightly.

Arika’s blood was pumping. She almost landed a hit! Of course, her sword was no longer in reach, but her shield was now at her feet! Arika kicked it up, and caught it in her left hand. “Alright, before I kick your ass, I’ll tell you my name so you can go cry to someone about how I beat you up!” Arika cleared her throat. “My name’s Arika, and I’m a warrior from Malth!”

Confident that her words would provide some intimidation, Arika lunged forward, thrusting her shield out to bash it into Lia. Of course, all of her momentum was moving forward into this strike, as if she hadn’t learned what happened the last time she sttack wildly.

At first Lia thinks to herself, she’s familiar with that name but she couldn’t quite place where, so she thought it insignificant. Still as it was the match was totally in her own favor, seeing Arika charge Lia braced herself for her opponent’s attack. On impact she wasn’t pushed back to heavily, she’d taken many worse hits before, but more importantly this had allowed her to take the momentum of Arika’s charge and with a quick toss sending her back the way she came.

As she readies herself once again taunts Arika a bit further, “I’ll give you a hint, you’ll never get the drop on someone like me, Lia, with such a simple attack.” Though as she said that, she tried not to give away how much she kept looking back at the sword behind her. It was a small window yes, but Lia didn’t wan to give Arika a chance to get in close without her knowing. Regardless, she continued to stare back at Arika, staying on defense, which she was best at.

“Simple attacks?” Arika pondered outloud, as she began thinking up an attack that wasn’t ‘simple’. Back in her arena days, she saw some pretty fancy attacks. But they always had more than just a shield. Arika realized she had been standing still for a bit too long.

“I’ll show you a complicated attack then!”

Arika tensed up, and ran forward again. This time, she was more under control. She swung her shield at her torso when she got close enough, the edge of the shield coming at Lia. Arika’s face was angry looking, but not necessarily violent. She really just wanted to hit this girl, it didn’t matter who she was anymore.

Lia turns back quickly as she hears Arika shout, in that moment she tries to analyze her opponents attack. At first, she considers going for another grab, but decides against it, that shield got too much in the way while she was swinging it. Our pugilist takes a step back, still facing Arika, she thinks further, her best way of evading the attack would be to back up further or get out of the way, which would let Arika get her sword. Not wanting that, she decides to press forward, Lia wasn’t going to make this easy for her opponent. “Alright then, Come at me!” Lia shouts as she tackles Arika. She’d get hit for sure, but she wasn’t gonna let that hit happen for free. Best case scenario would be them knocking each other over, she wasn’t trying to win at this point, she was just having a fun time training
