Professional Brick Thrower
In a world where magecraft and blissful ignorance maintain a shaky balance, events can occur that tear both worlds asunder. The Mage's Association has only picked the best of the best for this investigation that is sure to be filled with peril and danger! Or they found whoever they thought most expendable, mages can be like that sometimes.

For characters, most things are allowed, except for a few stipulations:
1. No overpowered skills and magecraft. For example, can see into any point in the future with total accuracy, can heal any injury within seconds without any repurcussions, etc. It's all about trying to keep things a bit more grounded and in a story about mages, so feel free to ask any questions. The crazy stuff is reserved for forces beyond our comprehension, after all.
2.No characters that frequently do fourth wall breaks. I have no issue with them and if there's a fourth wall break here and there for an occasion, that's fine. But when it's pretty much a character's prominent personality trait, breaking the fourth wall with high frequency and whatnot, we'd have to put an end to that.
3. Non-mages are totally alllowed, even if they aren't even from a family of mages or have zero bloodline history of magecraft. Just make sure that their backstory or job position includes a valid reason as to why the Mage's Association would let them stay/help out.
4. Characters will have to be human. I know that there are spirits, fairies, familiars, etc. that also exist in the Type Moon universe, but they wouldn't make as much sense operating without a human responsible for them in this investigation. Of course, people summoning familiars and creatures is perfectly acceptable, and so is self body transformation. But, that also means stipulation 1 still applies to them.

Other than those stipulations, you are free to choose whichever branch of the Mage's Association you would like, or even from outside it, or from another organization like the Holy Church. And you can choose whichever elements you want their magic to be based on, non OP mystic eyes are completely allowed as well.

Below is a pretty basic template to use for organizing character details. You can use any other template if you prefer and can skip or add as many details as you want to them.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Backstory: (A brief description of what your character has done before now)

Magecraft: (Type of magic/element of magecraft)
Spells: (Any spells your character uses. You can add more here later if your character learns a new spell later on)
Magical Equipment: (Any equipment designed for aiding magecraft that your character uses, like runes, pendants, etc)

Physical Equipment: (Run of the mill or specialized non magic gear you use)
Non Magic Skills: (Tools and tricks of the trade you might know, like picking locks or carpentry)
Other Skills and Traits: (Extra tidbits of info to help flesh out your character's skillset)

That's essentially it, but feel free to add whichever extra little details, like theme songs, physical characteristics, or mental traits that you'd like your character to have.

Have fun, can't wait to meet the team!

Kyoryuji Einzbern
20230310_100404.jpg
Gender: Androgynous Male
Height: 6'0
Goals: To be accepted by the entire Association, in order to feel like he finally belongs.
Fears: Getting Burned by Flames.
Likes: Meat. No seriously. He likes to eat meat because in his own words, "Meat grants me energy to use as needed when I hunt for my target."
Dislikes: Being reminded that he was still an outcast, and that if he didn't save the leader of the squad that was sent to slay him, he'd be long dead by now.
Reputation: Being a Homonculus that has the DNA of several Dinosaurs in his blood, which grants some if his human traits a enhancement, his creation was at first considered evil and needed immediate removal, which is when the Executioners had to be brought in. However, there was a planned coup within the group sent to eliminate him, where 4 of the Executioners planned to kill their leader to get a rise in status. After Kyoryuji thwarted the attempted rise to power, the Leader of that group believed that Kyoryuji had potential as a member of their group. Kyoryuji would not only learn their ways, but he would also be an amazing asset to the association. If a abomination of some kind was giving the organization trouble to defeat, they would call upon his services. Every mission he would be called on would end up adding to his reputation the 'Special' Executioner that is viewed not as an enemy like before, but a champion to call upon in times of great strife. However, the association still has a bit of a trust issue, due to his creation.
Weaknesses: While having enhanced human abilities, thanks to his dino DNA, he also has the same aversion to fire that they did. If Fire is ever brought up in a fight against him, he has to retreat.
Backstory: His Age needs not to be stated. His story began with the project the Einzberns had created to keep their bloodline alive. Many ideas would be tested, but the only rule was to never enhance any homonculus with anything that would make them dangerous to their creators. One scientist of the Einzberns However, believed he had a answer to keep their bloodline alive. He was a scientist for his family by night, but by day, he was a paleontologist. As a paleontologist, he had alot of documents and fossils of ancient, extinct creatures. His greatest prize has to be the various fossils of Dinosaurs However.

It was one morning, when the discovery that some fossils still had traces of flesh in them, had the news reach the scientists ears. After learning about this, he figured it might be what can save his bloodline once and for all. When night came around, he did many experiments with the fossils he had, and after recovering multiple DNA strands of several different Dinosaurs, he went to the family Homonculus lab to sneak the DNA into a random Homonculus, before walking off. His whereabouts remain unknown. The thing he did, that went against the rule the Einzberns established, would come to surface when the Homonculus he gave the DNA to, broke out of his incubator. A Homonculus shouldn't be able to leave unless a Einzbern had enabled it to.

The awoken Homonculus had many of his senses go into overdrive. His sight was sharp. His nose smelled the air of death. He felt strength in his arms. He'd be surrounded by armed guards, equipped with batons and riot shields. They circled around him. The Homonculus felt he danger around him, and his instincts kicked in. He would strike one guard, breaking through the shield and punching him onto the ground. He elbowed another. With the opening, he ran away from the other guards, with speed that actually rivaled the use of a magic circuit. After he escaped, the Einzberns had called the Association, and requested the assistance of the Executioners....

It was after he fought the corrupt Executioners, along with the squad leader by his side, that the leader saw potential in him. His abilities may not be completely refined, but with enough training, the Homonculus could become a great Executioner. It was after he took him under his wing, he gave the Homonculus a name, and thus, Kyoryuji Einzbern had been truely born.

Magecraft: N/A. Kyoryuji never wanted to learn magic. Everything he needed to learn, was from his master, who he considered his father ever since they met.
Spells: N/A.
Magical Equipment:
Disruption Daggers - A pair of short blades that his adoptive father had given him on the day he completed his training. The pair of daggers possess the same type of magic as the black Keys many Executioners would weild. In addition to possessing Holy Magic, the blades are also able to dispell magical abilities when they strike em (ex. The blades strike a fired thunderbolt spell, and the spell disintegrates as a result.)

Physical Equipment:
Hand Gun - When using his Daggers aren't an option, he'll pull out his pistol, which has a pretty good range for a hand gun. A single clip holds 12 bullets, and the clip is loaded into the bottom of the handle. Kyoryuji carries 3 extra clips with him for when he runs out of bullets.
Non-Magic Skills: His following abilities come from the many Dinosaurs whose DNA had been infused into his body. The ability and its associated Dinosaur are labeled together, with the explanation.

Enhanced Melee Strength (Triceratops) - With enhanced strength, Kyoryuji can lift up to 3 times his own body weight (120 lbs). This strength also applies to physical strikes with his fists.

Enhanced Swimming (Spinosaurus) - With enhanced swimming, Kyoryuji is able to swim at a speed that can be compared to that of an Olympics swimmer. His style of swimming is very peculiar however, as he swims side to side, without using his arms, like a snake almost.

Enhanced Running Speed (Some sort of raptor) - With enhanced speed, Kyoryuji can run faster than any human that doesn't possess magic circuits. This does not apply to his combat speed.

Enhanced Smell (Tyrannosaurus Rex) - Kyoryuji's sense of smell is very strong, able to register many scents at once, within a mile radius.

Enhanced Vision (Leaellynasaura and Brachiosaurus) - Kyoryuji's vision can see through darkness, as well as spot things from a distance. His sight goes out to 90 feet when using his night vision, but a bright flash of light in a dark area can blind him for a few seconds.

Strong Jaw (Tyrannosaurus) - Kyoryuji can bite an opponent if his arms are occupied during a melee fight. His bite force can break bones and rend flesh, without harming himself. He doesn't use his strong jaw against a heavily armored opponent.

I like the premise of a homunculus made with traits of animals, even extinct ones. And since you have him as a non magic using character with a huge physical skill set, I'd say Kyoryuji is very balanced. Approved. The Mage's Association looks forward to your cooperation.

Name: Sayaka Yamagichi

20230617_181133.png

Gender: Transfem (She/Her)

Height: 5'7

Goals: To simply live a normal life, free of the pressures and hardships that come with magecraft and being a magus.

Fears: While being ridiculed in front of strangers is terrifying, nothing would be worse than dying.

Likes: Small things like quiet country sides and the way the sky looks at dusk and dawn. Anything that could ease her quick heart rate. Rhino beetles are nice too.

Reputation: Depending on who you ask, Sayaka isn't very welcomed at the Clock tower. The Yamagichi family aren't nearly as old or well known as some like the Tohsakas. They've been around for a shorter amount of time and the mages they produce aren't very noteworthy. Still, she has bit more going for her compared to others in her family when it comes to magic. On a personal level, she would be tolerated as long as she stayed out of the way.

Weaknesses: Due to years of harsh training and overbearing family members, Sayaka is quick to relinquish control of any given situation. She's hard wired to avoid conflict so confronting someone is not in her wheelhouse. Along with this, a crippling fear of small spaces can render her useless. Another drawback involves the variety of her magic, or the lack there of. Specializing in a particular type, accompanied with several years of not using the abilities, have left her not as strong as she once was.

Backstory: Born into the Yamagichi family, Sayaka seemed destined to succeed. The family had poor circuits from the very beginning and any mage among them was never noteworthy. Despite all their efforts for a decent heir, it was all in vain. Until Sayaka was born.

Seeing this as their one chance for glory, her parents were relentless in training her abilities. Countless tests and trials revealed Sayaka's natural healing capabilities and an even greater boon. With enough focus, she could mend wounds and transfer them to herself. Of course, the worse the wound, the more energy required and the greater the strain. On a young child, this was horrible to bear. But she could not protest and simply took the training day in and day out. Still, she wished for a break, even for a moment.

As the years passed, her resentment for magic grew as Sayaka retreated into herself for escape. Somehow, she convinced her family to allow her to attend public schooling for a few years into her teens. During that time, she neglected her training and chose to fulfill that fleeting dream of normalcy. For awhile, she was convinced she could make it her whole life this way. Away from magecraft and her family. However, this ended right before she could graduate from university.

Now pulled away from her idyllic escape, Sayaka was forced back into magic training after all these years. Aside from he occasionally healing techniques she'd use on herself, her once powerful circuits had deteriorated from lack of use. It would be a long and intense road to restoring them, even to a fraction of what they once were. There wasn't enough time for this though, as she was promptly sent to the Clock tower in order to be of some use to them. A sign of good will from a weak family.

Magecraft: Healing Magecraft
Spells: - First Aid: A simple healing spell requiring minimal effort and mana. Used for minor wounds.
- Second Wind: A stronger healing spell requiring more mana and direct contact with the wound. Used for larger wounds.
- Direct Transfer: A healing spell that allows the user to transfer the wounds of someone over to themself. The more grievous or numerous the wound, the more strain the user takes. Cannot heal major or life threatening injuries. If used too often, can potentially result in death.
- Gandr: A simple curse originating from Scandinavia, which decreases the physical health of the target.

Magical Equipment: - Sayaka, while opposed to using her magic, has a small ring to help amplify her abilities. She rarely wears it but keeps it on her person.

Physical Equipment: N/A. Not used to combat so doesn't carry weapons.
Non Magic Skills: - Can identify certain illnesses of the body and good with first aid.
Other Skills and Traits: - Was a medical student in university, despite the nagging feeling it gave her. Calm when it comes to dealing with injured folks.

Name: "Sachiko" Albtraum Tenebra (current alias)

Appearance:
__chiara_black_survival_drawn_by_juliahsl__sample-e7e4a4ae7d708dea08e60acf60f32b52.jpg
A pale, frail looking woman usually dressed in the standard attire of the Church. Age is ambiguous (maybe)?

Goals:
To solve Lord Rufleus' murder and the rogue mage's summonings, so asto return to a peaceful, relatively mundane life as much as possible.

Fears:
  • Bright lights
  • Loud machinery sounds
  • Disruption to her life's peace

Likes:
  • Peace and quiet
  • Academic work and ministry

Reputation: No special regard on the part of the Association, but her docile personality seems to lead to an unreliable image as one of the Church's representatives in this investigation.

Weaknesses:
  • Adjusts poorly to changes in routine and planning
  • Tends to be overly passive, rarely the first to act in critical situations
  • Inassertive

Backstory:
The woman currently known as Albtraum Tenebra has little known history, other than the fact that she grew up poor and alone, a criminal with no special opportunities or hope for the future. Until she met her: Lady Mircalla. A devious, scheming woman with a dark allure, who gathered "Sachiko" and people like her to her cause. Under Mircalla's command, the people became a hopelessly devoted cult and a fanatical band of thieves and robbers who amassed considerable wealth, until Mircalla turned them towards the theft of magecraft's secrets and precious artifacts that could elucidate further arcane knowledge.

That was how the horrifying secret was revealed: Mircalla was a Dead Apostle: a vampire seeking true immortality at any cost. Despite Mircalla's efforts, her lair was eventually found by the Executors of the Church, and they wasted no time bringing their holy powers to bear in full force. Many of Mircalla's followers fell in the ensuing battle, and she herself was struck down and sealed away.

By the miracle of mercy, "Sachiko" was spared, albeit wounded, by one of the Executors. Merciful but firm, they gave her an opportunity to atone for her actions by joining the Church. Eventually, she began to be trained as an Exorcist, a hunter of demons.

(The nickname "Sachiko" was given by Riesbyfe Stridberg, captain of the Church's Shield Knights, during a visit where they got acquainted.)

Now, out of all possible candidates, she has been sent to join the team investigating Lord Rufleus' murder and the whereabouts of the rogue mage. Despite her apparent nature, she is just as dedicated to her duty as anyone else worthy of the title of Exorcist.

Magecraft Prayer Power: Albtraum uses the standard complement of Sacraments that are taught to the rank and file of the Church.

Spells:
Notable aspects of this power include:
  • Baptismal Rite: The standard purification rite of the church, it is highly effective at banishing spirits and weakening demons.
  • Spatial Warp: A sacrament that grants Albtraum a space equal to about a large suitcase to store objects in.
  • Abjuration: Albtraum is able to generate a shining ward that covers roughly 30x30 feet or a typical large room. At her level of ability, it unerringly warns her and everyone else within of the entrance of a Dead Apostle, and other undead or spiritual beings, in addition to impeding their movement with a feeling of physical weight that can hurt with increasing severity if they move at high speed.

Magical Equipment:

Exegesis: An implement resembling a pump-action shotgun. Capable of projecting beams of holy light that cause burns to demonic entities with physical presence, but less effective against spirits.

Physical Equipment:

A bound and durable Bible, well made but mundane save for its contents

Non Magic Skills:
Actually quite fit, trained in disarming traps and security systems and operating vehicles since the time when Mircalla was still misleading the cult into being a mundane criminal gang.

Fears: Dying before killing her father, involving those she cares about in her personal struggles
Likes: bird watching, gaining skills, making terrible t-shirts, and creating powerpoint presentations

Reputation: Neutral, some people view her as someone pitiful who had her talent stunted and others are put off by the uncanny valley she is. Whether they want to use her or be used by her Olimpia comes off as nice but distant so it would be hard to claim she has any reputation for who she is rather than what she is.

Weaknesses: Direct contests of power, situations that require higher power spellcraft than brief incantations, anything anti-magecraft or anti-spirit since she cant function in those areas, most of her abilitiesare supported by magical items that come with their own drawbacks.

Backstory:
Born to a family of reclusive mages, Olimpia had a fairly normal early life. However, this ended when she was kidnapped by a man who performed body modification on her. The modification was successful due to her latent psychic powers but resulted in the loss of her memories. The reason why Olimpia was transformed was because she was meant to become a catalyst in a holy grail war to summon the one who shares her name. Despite the many years passing since her creation such a fate never came to be as her “father” at the time always deemed her too incomplete, too imperfect, to successfully summon the servant.

Through various and mostly unethical means the automaton Olimpia inhabited became closer and closer to ideal. Olimpia followed her “father” not realizing she was just a pawn in his plans. She studied and worked hard to become the perfect daughter, the top of the social circle, to further his ambitions. Everyday life consisted of him rejoining society to gain funding for his research, selling prosthetics and hosting parties where olimpia’s beauty could charm the attendees into becoming his financial victims.

After meeting with a fellow mage, progress on her body increased exponentially. He developed a fake mystic eye that enhanced her normal psychic abilities. Such success also gave birth to jealousy between him and Olimpia’s father who ended up killing the man in a fight. Growing increasingly disillusioned by her father’s antics and gaining courage from the few friends she made in secret, Olimpia used her magecraft in an attempt to kill him.

While she was unsuccessful the resulting deaths of some notable people was too much to completely cover up. Her father was thrown into jail becoming unreachable to her and Olimpia was fated to be destroyed. An unknown benefactor saved her from destruction in return for her service, an offer she had no choice to accept. Olimpia quietly bided her time until no one would be left to pull her strings so she could exact her revenge.

To the outside world she may be a heiress to a prosthetics company but to the clocktower and church she is a powerful expendable mage. Chosen to join the investigation team as a neutral party to keep balance or blame for their own actions. Olimpia, to give the illusion of having a choice, claims that it is since the nature of the mystery involves eyes she joined since her father may have a hand or interest in it and she was very, very, very much looking forward to ensuring he would gain nothing from it.

Magecraft: Resounding magecraft

Allows one to resonate with the mysteries around them and use it as their own. Theorized to be a type of projection magecraft or a mystic eye-like psychic ability but its exact methods of function remain unknown even to Olimpia herself. Mainly this is used to reproduce magic around Olimpia allowing her to uncannily reproduce the effects of their magecraft.

While she can tell if magecraft is present in that area she can not locate its direct source unless it is in eyesight. While resonating some spells or items may treat Olimpia as if she is a part of them which allows her to safely handle or mess with them as long as they are unowned or she has the owners permission.

The more things they could resonate with the weaker the ability reproduced by each thing she is resonating with. If Olimpia tries to resonate with two things that produce opposite effects it cuts off access to this power and sends Olimpia into a berserker state. In this state what she lacks in spellcasting is more than made up for by madness. If the resonating target moves beyond the area of her effect she loses access to the abilities granted by it.

Spells:
Olimpia’s song:
A five line incantation that heightens her powers to resonate with the world around her. While weaker than other incantations of the type it allows her not to rely on the magic of those around her and use the natural world instead.

Weak single action:
Thanks to her resonance ability she is able to use the magical effects around her. Each effect is no stronger than a single action incantation. If there are no magical effects around her she can only use Olimpia's song.

High speed resounding aria:
Allows her to start using one single word spell while using another allowing for quick magecraft or balancing multiple.

Magical Equipment:

Coppélia:
A charming body of clockwork from the time of mysteries that can pass as human rather than an automaton. All it requires to keep moving is the winding of its key and the fake mystic eye of fixing to be placed within it. While it only focuses on making her appear as a normal human it does its job exceptionally well but still falls into the uncanny valley. Its effect only works on the outside as the inside remains materials, mechanicals, and a whole lot of runes so once damaged it's easy to tell what Olimpia is.

Currently two automatons exist with one kept inside of her workroom so she can perform major repairs on her body.

Since it is a magical item it can not be healed by the same methods one would repair flesh thus Olimpia needs to perform routine maintenance on it. Each day the body also needs to be wound by her silver key or else it ceases to function. When unwound her state is similar to death.

Silver key:
A mysterious silver key Olimpia uses to wind her body to ensure she can still act in it. When inserted into a lock of a suitcase or large trunk it allows her access to the workroom where she can pull out items to repair her body or in the worst cases dump her body into it to be repaired by her spare body.

Fake Mystical eye of fixing “Spallanzani’s lenses'':
A set of green gemstone iris glass eyes that affix Olimpia’s soul to them. When placed inside of Coppelia it allows her to control it. When the eyes are together a low number of those attracted to her fall into maddening love with her. Due to that and for general safety she only has one eye in each of her bodies. She can only be in control of one body at a time and only can switch in her workshop or when one body or eye is destroyed. If both eyes are destroyed she dies.

Fake Mystical eye “lab grown rainbow”:
A fake mystical eye that allows her to still use her magecraft when spallanzani’s lenses are separated. It grants an ability similar to pure eyes or fairy eyes allowing her to process information others may not be able to see as long as the information involves magecraft or esp.

Physical Equipment: None

Non Magic Skills: Olimpia is a jack of all trades master of none. She favors high society type skills and object restoration. Her knowledge base while lacking of the magecraft world is quite cultured for the normal one.

Other Skills and Traits:
Animal typically dislike being around her.
Great mental and spiritual endurance. Her defenses are second to none.
While she can’t cast strong spells her mana seems inexhaustible. Rather than having a large mana pool it seems to regenerate quickly.
She greatly dislikes when people clock her as an automaton almost as much as she hates being confused for a cyborg, homunculus, or a robot. She tried very hard to appear having a human body so it feels like her effort was pointless.
Still sometimes chants incantations for her spells even though it doesn't make them stronger because she is a dork.

Neat powers. I can see a lot of utility for mimicking other magecraft, even if its less powerful. Pretty cool concept from the extended Fate universe with the automaton body, too. Accepted!
