~ Appearance ~ Landon Has thick, dark brown hair, that is cut short on the sides and the top is kept at a decent length. Typically, his hair is maintained in a very messy, bed-head style. He stands 5'9, he is slim, but has a very lean, athletic build. He has very bright blue eyes that seem to always be watching his surroundings. His skin is a fair white color, with hints of a natural tan. He has sharp facial structure, with very defined cheek bones. He has a smaller mouth, along with normal sized eyes, and nose. He has a habit of playing with his hair or moving his hand through his hair. He has a very sweet and warm appearance to his face, which make it more striking when you see him take charge and become serious. He seems to demand attention when he gets serious


~ Strengths & Skills ~ Landon is a very analytical person, this is one of his greatest strengths, he is able to examine the small details that a normal person usually misses. He also is very organized and orderly, being well trained in keeping a structured system, rationing food/water, and overall maintaining a very good structured, running system. He is also seen as a Strategic thinker, he is able to create a multitude of plans and scenarios for both regular tasks and combat situations. He is very talented swimmer, being one of the only physical aspect he excels at. As for physical ability, he is slightly above average for his age, relying more on his mental capacity than physical ability. He is very effective in making traps and protective measures.


~ Fears & Weaknesses ~ One of his biggest fear is the fear of failure or defeat, ever since was young, he has been trying to get over this fear but he finds it hard to get over. He also does not like being considered the weak link in any situation, this often leads to him lashing out when he feels he is being mocked or pitied. He has a tendency to get so caught up in the small details that he fails to see the big picture. He has a big fear of getting sick and disease. He isn't the most physical of people, often tailing behind a majority of the others.


~ Personality ~ He is a very calculating, cunning and analytical member of the team. He is able to carefully look past his feelings and see the real situation at hand. He is extremely perceptive, able to quickly recognize patterns and mistake made by the group, which gives him an edge. He also has natural instincts that are also highly tuned. His care for his friends and family are the backbone of his fighting drive, as he would sacrifice just about anything to protect them and thus making him a reliable teammate despite his cunning front. Landon has a very kind heart and very warm voice to him. He is often considered a voice of reason and empathy. In the face of adversity, he has the uncommon ability to shun all emotions and shine a blank slate, thinking three to four steps ahead to clutch the pinch and seize control of the situation. Coupled with his vast intelligence, his detached emotional state is perhaps his greatest asset. He also has a tendency to plan for all possible futures, one that may or may not be, because he believes that nothing is ever certain and that you must be prepared.

~ Writing Sample ~ Arriving at an old wooden cabin, with dusty old glass windows, and weeds on the perimeter of the cabin. They couldn't believe that this is their life for the next three weeks. " Camping will be fun and you'll get to bond with your new step-bothers" he remembers his mom saying those exact words in order to get him to agree to this awful trip. He had to agree, because he didn't have the heart to tell his mom that he didn't want a new Dad and a new set of brothers. After everything she had done for them, the least he could do is spent a few weeks pretending to want a new family.

  Natural straight red hair sweeps across a pale and freckled forehead. Round and frightened blue-grey eyes settle on anything that does not stare back as his full lips settle into a frown. His nose is bigger than it could be aesthetically, but he is still good looking in the face. Looks younger than his actual age. He is small, with slender arms and a tiny waist. His legs are long and Kanen stands at 5'8", only slightly taller than his mother. ​

  Kanen has a small stature and could easily be killed if someone stronger decided to. Being clumsy, he would be more likely to trip and die rather than run away. Luckily, he is pretty good at aiming long-range weapons so that may prove useful later in time if he is allowed to leave. He is terrified of a gruesome death which gives him the incentive to leave the bunker in the first place. Starving to death sounds like one of the worst ways to go.

  Kanen is the very definition of an introvert. It isn't that he doesn't want to talk to people, he really loves talking to the few friends he has, it is just that he knows a bully when he sees one. There are a lot of people in this place that love to call him names and shun him for being "different". There are a lot of people who didn't like his parents. Kanen never knew why people couldn't get along down in this place. It was all that they had.
  
  
  Kanen isn't shy, though. If he needs to talk to people and he needs to do something with people he will do it. He is fascinated by generally anything and everything. People call him "easily impressed." Imaginative was a better word for the workings inside of his head. He could make a story out of anything and was eager to learn what was going on above his head. Just outside the door.

  What sounded like muffled fireworks started going off outside, over and over. Eventually it was like a dull lullabye, an eerie song that reminded everyone that everything they knew was slowly dying. They all knew about the bombs, the radiation, the possibility that this bunker would fall. They all knew that they were probably going to die a horrible death--that was why they decided to all squeeze into this increasingly small bunker in hopes of a meager survival of disgusting food, recycled air, and barely processed water. A life lacking of adventures and destinations, a life hanging in the balance of lead and concerete walls.

  Years of being quiet makes Kanen a great listener and people watcher. This makes him capable of seeing and hearing the small differences that people make when they lie or try to decieve other people when they are communicating. Of course, some people can get past him but folks that he sees constantly are easy to figure out. He is good at how people's minds work and can manipulate them if he understands them well enough.
  
  
  He was trained in psychology and general first aid (and in this age that would include general radiation avoidance) when they announced that he may be leaving the vault. After all, Kanen was the youngest of three surviving children and it only made sense for him to go. His two older sisters needed to be there to take care of his aging family and there was just no need for a psychologist inside of the vault and they had plenty of doctors. ​

Standing at a mere 5’2, Calen is quite small. She weighs only about 110 lbs, being in decent physical condition. Calen is built sturdily, despite her size, and has a good level of muscle mass.


Calen has olive skin, which often displays her as quite tan compared to everyone else who lives completely underground. Her blue eyes stand in direct contrast to her wavy dark brown hair, and she has high cheekbones, full lips, straight eyebrows, and a sharp nose.


Calen has a few small burn scars on her back between her shoulders, and on her legs from an accident that happened when she was a child. She has her ears pierced and often wears her hair in a simple braid.

Quite physically fit, well educated (especially in animal sciences and behavior), a natural leader and strategist.


Calen has always enjoyed exercise, and would often invent opportunities for a workout whenever possible before she was selected to travel to the outside. She has always harbored an insatiable interest in animals and animal behavior, as well as environmental sciences, which she believes will aid in her survival on the ground. Ever since childhood, Calen has found her natural leadership skills inspire others to follow her. She has a real mind for strategy and can always devise a plan to get something done.

~ Fears & Weaknesses ~


Not particularly skilled at hand-to-hand combat (although fast, Calen is small and relatively weak, and unpracticed), quite small in stature, deathly afraid of fire due to childhood trauma.


Due to her rather diminutive stature, Calen makes for a poor fistfighter. She is not especially strong and doesn’t really know how to use what strength she has to her advantage. A lack of experience and practice only adds to her deficiency. Her size presents other disadvantages, as well- she has trouble keeping up with others despite her high level of fitness, and it takes her several times as much effort to accomplish physical tasks as it would others. Calen also has an intense fear of fire after a childhood accident burned her and what few possessions she owned.

~ Personality ~


Calen is a big person in a little body. She is outspoken, outgoing, and opinionated. She is as strong-willed and brave as her mother, and as calculating and thoughtful as her father. Although she may appear to be impulsive, Calen never makes a decision without weighing every single option. She is passionate, moral, and solid in her beliefs, and prefers to avoid conflict if possible rather than fight- but not from a lack of conviction or guts. Calen has a strong motherly instinct and feels driven to protect those around her; if avoid a fight will do that, then that’s the way to go.


Calen often claims to be a lover, not a fighter. And she’s mostly correct- Calen loves strongly, loyally, and intensely. But when push comes to shove and those she loves are threatened, Calen will not hesitate to shed some blood. She is loyal to a fault and has a tendency to see past the flaws of those she loves, which makes her more or less blind to the faults of others she cares about. This makes her vulnerable to getting hurt, but Calen loves to forgive and even the deepest betrayal could hardly set her off from somebody she loves.


Although a natural leader, Calen has never actually led much of anything, and she often questions herself, her ability, and her decisions. She struggles to have faith in herself, despite every other big aspect of her personality. Calen may seem to be endlessly confident, but in reality, she has no idea what she’s doing and needs constant reassurance that she’s doing the right thing or making the right choices.


All in all, Calen is an incredibly strong person with a desire to protect and love, but she is often in need of somebody to reassure her and have faith in her.

Calen has a real passion for animals and the environment, despite never having seen either of those things. She loves to run, and is a hopeless romantic as long as she isn’t occupied by more serious matters. Calen is quite likable despite her intense personality, and even though she is prone to getting into disagreements, she can often charm her way out.

“The capall paddock is empty but for the one grey stallion, and he prances and rears about like a distressed colt. I secretly thank the old man Malvern for having the head to fence in the outer-facing doors of the capall uisce stalls when he built the place so that if a situation like this ever arose, the most freedom any water horse could have was galloping madly around the square fence line. I bark at Jackson to find some meat to entice the stallion back inside before stepping up to the reinforced fence. With a long exhale, I swing the halter and lead over my shoulder and fold myself between two of the planks to step into the paddock without troubling myself with the gate latch.”

Strengths & Skills: Jay is, by nature, a fighter, and a relatively good one at that. He's clever too, with wits sharp to a point and jokes a plenty. Handy with a knife and potentially a good shot - though he's got little experience with guns and bows. Surprisingly enough, he also has an immense knowledge of cultures and languages.


Fears & Weaknesses: He knows absolutely nothing about first aid, science, or math. He is untrustworthy, stubborn, and a known thief.


Personality: He enjoys conversation but only on a shallow level, never speaking on serious matters. A bit of a lone-wolf, though he doesn't oppose company. Good at heart but burdened and affected by the strains of life within a man made tomb. Adventurous and eager for freedom.

Other Info: Jay has spent a good deal of his young life in and out of detention and holding cells for a mixture of crimes ranging from thievery to minor assault. Whilst there, alone usually, he would spend his time reading about the world before the war, the word he never knew.


Writing Sample: As Aaron peered through the looking-glass his hands began to tremble uncontrollably, the sight before him more frightening than anything he had ever seen. The shout,


"To arms! All men to arms!" came loud from behind one of the officers tents; it was Old Lem Two Shoes, but others had quickly joined in all down the line. "To arms! To arms!" They echoed. It was followed by a fierce and sudden clang and clatter of steel. Men all around began to prepare for the battle to come, but it was all in vain. We're going to die... Aaron thought hopelessly, letting the looking-glass slip from his hand and fall to the ground. It landed in the mud at his feet and sunk in under its own weight, never to be seen again. With a thunderous crack and a violent shake it landed.


"Charge!" Lem screamed as he kicked his heels into the large horse between his legs. Again the call was echoed by many, "Charge! Charge!" and in an instant all the men were going headlong into sure death. Some ran on foot and others rode on horseback, all but Aaron, who stood frozen in place. Aaron watched as the massive beast let down a sea of fire from its great snout with unfathomable force; a sea that flooded the fields of battle, washed away the men, and set fire to all it touched. Aaron felt the heat from it as it rushed toward him, burning before its great waves of flames.

  Strengths & Skills: Has intelligent qualities, such as moderately above-average recollection skills, the ability to do moderately complex math in his head, and greater than average logical capacity. Working as the junior IT, he has decent skill in programming and understands programming systems more than most of the rest of the people in the bunker.He is also an engineer by hobby, and is a capable designer of structures and potentially helpful equipment.
  
  
  Fears & Weaknesses: Aaron suffers from Major Depressive Disorder, and therefore suffers the symptoms of it such as persistent low mood, low self-esteem, and loss of interest or pleasure in normally enjoyable activities. He also lacks survival skills and self defense skills. Though apparently strong enough to make the cut for the 30 that leave the bunker, he is by far the weakest out of the group.
  
  
  Personality: Aaron Mattrick is oven in a depressed and quite serious mood. In some ways this, and his strengths and weaknesses, makes him almost like a foil to Johnathon Wills. He will only talk when the need arises, such as asking for help with something or asking for extra scrap for whatever he is designing, or when prompted first. He will often be non-reactive to jokes, stories, or anything that would normally trigger an emotional response.
