"It's your time to awaken..."

"Now now, don't be frightened, many great things await you."

"Great in good, or great in terrible, I cannot say, but certainly something great."

"Many eyes are upon you, and I'll trust you'll not disappoint."

"But first, you must wake."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The very first thing that would occur to Seraphina as she stirred was the rocking of the world about her. A swaying sensation, as though she were in motion. All about her would be the feeling of warmth, a soft fabric rested over top her while a mattress lay beneath her. It was very soft to the touch, with a pillow just under her head. She'd be comfortable, and not all too unfamiliar with the sensation of being in a warm bed. Yet everything else was well and truly alien, the strange rocking, and the stranger sound of thrumming that seemed to be in the background. If she listened close, she may occasionally hear voices, even very faint footsteps muffled between distance and walls. She wasn't alone, wherever she was, but those fainter sounds were all above her.

Should she have chosen to open her eyes, she would find herself in what seemed to be a cabin of some sort. Oaken wood walls were all around her, creaking and groaning with the swaying sensation. There was a small bed stand next to her, with her last clothes she'd worn rested and folded up neatly, cleaned, repaired of any damages. There were also paintings on the walls, one of mountains sheathed behind a ring of forests with clouds just barely over the top of them. The next a lush forest, freshly green and lovely looking, though with a curious glow among the branches. Seraphina might be a bit sore from her ordeal, likely memories would come of her final moments, slowly and steadily.

If she checked, any belongings would be gone though. Tools, coin, parchment, anything of the sort she had on her before her moment of her demise would be gone. Literally only the last pair of clothes she wore would be there in this little cabin guest room. A single door was across from her, with a reinforced metal frame. The door itself wooden, but with metal reaming it, giving it a very solid frame. Likely too solid for a cabin in the woods or something like that, no, with the swaying as well it would almost suggest she was on a vessel of some kind, as it wasn't at all unlike being on the waves of the sea, though she wouldn't hear the lapping of waves crashing against the hull.

No, instead there was just that thrumming, and the sound of people abuzz above her...

Seraphina had just received new artifacts that she was working on deciphering the texts that came with it. She had to search for books that translated dead ancient languages and magical glyphs. The young scholar took her work seriously as she moved around her shop piling up books that she would need. She was rushing around and as she reached for the last book she had lost her balance dropping the stack of books she was grasping to her chest. Her hands shot out to grab one of the higher shelves causing the large wooden bookshelf to begin to fall forward. Landing with a sickening crash and crunch. Little did the young woman know this end would be the beginning to an epic story.

The young mage was first aware of the swaying before her eyes even opened. The disorientation was overpowering her thoughts as she tried to piece together where she was. Last she remembered she was in her shop looking for decoding resources for her latest artifact she had received. The warm bed covering her seemingly bare skin as she shifted trying to prop herself up as sapphire blue eyes scanned the foreign wooden room. Anxiety began to blanket her mind as she tried to connect the dots as to where she was. A cold sweat creeping onto her pale skin as she noticed her dress and hat neatly set on the bed side table beside her. Her navy shoes set on the ground in front of the bed size table.

The sound of voices and footsteps concerned Seraphina slightly as none of them sounded like her friends, or neighbors. As the raven haired female moved to stand her muscles screamed in protest at her movement. She wrinkled her nose slightly as she pushed her body to stand up out of bed as she tossed the covers off her haphazardly. Her small feet hitting the cool floor with a soft thud. She slid over her velvety fabric of her dress and slid on her stockings. As she adjusted her large hat on top of her head as she slid on her small shoes. Her staff was nowhere to be found, just yet, as she took another glance around the room. Her hand crafted clothes were sure to stick out wherever she was.

The mage made her way to the sturdy door as her shoes clicked softly along the floor. Seraphina was rather curious causing her to want to get to the bottom of what was happening. Her slender hand reached for the door handle. The cool metal met her hand as she pulled the door towards her causing a brighter light to come flooding towards her. The sounds that were once muffled by the door greeting her ears louder than she expected. Her eyes darted around at the foreign scenery. It was clear she was a long way from home.

The door easily moved to Seraphina's pull, it didn't seem locked on her. Sure enough, the door opened up to a hallway, various other cabin doors like her's lined it, with some stairs leading up. Just then she'd see two people walking down from the stairs, their voices becoming more audible as they walked. One was more heavier set, a large burly guy with a face covered in a hefty white beard and mustache, his eyes covered by a pair of goggles and bandanna around his head. His walk was wide, broad, stepping with a distinct boat-walk. The man next to him was scrawnier, looking almost a bit mousy, thin, with goggles as well and short brown hair.

"--On that note, Boss!" The shorter one began, "Y'really think we should be lingerin' here? I mean, we're real close to the Gash, and our spotters are seein' movement down there."

He tugged on a toolbox at his waist that clanked unpleasantly against his hip. He was in brown overalls going over a white shirt, the larger man was wearing much the same only with an additional long black coat to show his rank as the captain of the ship.

Speaking of, the larger man let out a loud guffaw of laughter, "What?! We found a survivor from th' fight laddie! If there's anymore tae be saved then we have ta at least look! S'a miracle anyone survived that wreck!"

"Yeah but boss we might be becomin' parto' that wreck if we don't get movin'!"

"Pfah, we've done our work under more dangerous! Yer worryin' too much!"

She had a number of choices, it was clear they were heading down the hallway and hadn't spotted her yet. She could try to make it down the opposite side of the hallway, which seemed to lead to stairs going down into a storage room of some sort. Or, she could face the two people coming down the stairs who were, almost certainly not her friends she knew from home, complete strangers. Noteably, leaving the room the thrumming noise had only gotten louder. . .

At the mention of a survivor that they found Seraphina's interest is peaked. She assumed they were speaking about her, but as for why the skinnier man was worried was unknown to her. She twitched softly as her instincts were telling her to book it for the stairs, but she locked her knees as the loud men grew closer to her as she wanted to know where she was and how she had gotten there. She felt her mana building softly incase she needed to cast a spell. In this world mana production was more of a struggle so even her smaller spells would be taxing. Her bright blue eyes glittering in the light as the men grew closer.

Her soft voice sounded like silk as her words met the ears of the two men that stood a few feet from her now, "Greeting strangers. My name is Seraphina from Abberos may I ask who you are? Also where we are?" She curtsied as she let the rim of her hat cover her eyes. She then stood straight once more as her eyes danced between the two men cautiously. She wasn't sure if she could even trust the strangers she just introduced herself to, but one thing was certain they knew their was through whatever this unknown vessel was. She wasn't usually the type to rely on others, but now she didn't have much of a choice. She wanted to find out what they knew.

Her heartbeat was quickened as she waited for their answer. They didn't seem like bad people, but the raven haired mage was smarter than to let her guard down in front of these new people. She also still wasn't sure where her staff was. Her staff was an ancient artifact that upped her mana, which allowed her to cast more powerful spells. She also was able to use it as a weapon if need be because of the metals it was made with. She twirled a small piece of her soft hair as she shifts her weight as she listens to the two men.

Both men looked up, surprised seeing her dressed and in the hallway clearly. The captain, the larger burlier man, put hands on his hips and straightened up with a big grin. "Ah! Yer awake! We were wonderin'! Ye can call me Cap'n Kelger, leader o' this scrapper crew. This is my top engineer, Greg.... Now dinnae be so shy boy!" He gave a stern slap to the scrawny man's back, making him stumble with an audible 'Guh!' as he tried to catch his footing and not fall. He adjusted his goggles and sighed, slumping his shoulders a bit. He looked back to the woman and spoke, though he seemed a bit glum about being put on the spot like this. Clearly this was a man who liked just sticking to his work and keeping his head down.

"Y-Yeah, I'm the fixer-er of this here ship's engine... Keeps us sailin' nice and smooth like."

His boss seemed the opposite, a loud boisterous and friendly man, he grinned.

"See Lad? Talkin' tae people isn't that hard! Anyway, y'said ye were from Abberos? Can't say I've heard of it none. . . Is it one of them smaller provinces in La-Nora?"

"O-Oh uhm, to answer your question. We're over The Gouge, by the wreckage of your ship. We were salvaging it uhm... Tryin' ta snag what we can and get it back to La-Nora b'fore the Tyrants catch wind and raise all sortsa 'ell." The boy nodded to her.

"Aye, sorry we weren't able tae find any of your gear. Not a single Pearl was layin' around you, some of yer more unfortunate fellow La-Nora soldiers did though, I can send ye back with em... Can ye tell us the last thing ye remember? Looks like yer old ship musta gotten thrashed by one 'ell of a Tyrant!"
