It was a typical day at work for Nathan McCall...
He was the manager meant a lot of responsibility, but it was something he could handle. Nathan was the branch manager of an Intel office. His company was in charge of manufacturing the computer processors, as well as various other computer equipment. Nathan prided himself on his work ethic, and cared deeply about the success of his company.
Even though Nathan considered himself a successful person, he knew something was missing. A failed marriage really did a number on his psyche. His ex wife took everything from him, including his kids which was the most important thing that he lost due to the divorce. However, Nathan did the best he could to bounce back, and he was mostly okay. It was part of his personality to persevere, he had always been that way, and he never saw himself handling pressure negatively. While Nathan was handling his issues remarkably well, part of him was still hurt. He masked it wonderfully, and if you didn't know him all that well, you would never know that he was hurting because of his personal life.
At Intel, Nathan kept his personal life to a minimum. He did not share any information about himself, and loved to appear as if he were all business, and didn't care about anything else. It was not true, but Nathan did a great job hiding, and noted that he always would. He would never make the same mistake of letting someone in again. It was all about his business, and that was all it was going to be. While many people would disagree with Nathan's views, and say that there is much more to live for, Nathan didn't care, because he had no desire for that to change in his life. He enjoyed having Intel being his first and only priority.
As Nathan stared at the stack of paperwork on his desk, he sighed to himself. The day was dragging on slower than usual, and while he enjoyed what he was doing, he found himself extremely bored and lonely. For the third time that afternoon, he pulled his cell phone out to see if he had any text messages, and yet again there was nothing. Sure, Nathan had friends, who were more acquaintances than they were friends, but it wasn't like they texted him daily. It was beginning to get to him, and he wasn't sure what to do anymore...
