In his early thirties, he dons a surprisingly high amount of grey streams in his otherwise firm jet black hair. Smart and sophisticated look is only enforced by his attire; shirts and suit pants. It's been a while ever since he donned those. Nowadays, he still remains a smartass, as some call him, sporting a windbreaker with jeans. His face has its fair share of wrinkles, both on his forehead and between his lips and nose.

Personality: Emanuel is a quick-learning, organised man. Whenever it requires cold and rational logic, he is the man for the job. After more than two decades of continuous studying, he did become 'advanced' at the field he chose; chemistry and biology. Quite cynical to whomever he meets, he isn't an easily accessible person, but he doesn't go around just denying people from further interaction; in fact, he just doesn't know how to initiate conversations and other actions related to social standards. Occasionally, he can be viewed as an 'asshole' or a 'selfish prick', due to his expectancy of people to do their best. Despite those expectations, he doesn't rely on many people, as he has only one person whom he trusts undeniably; him and himself only.

Brief description of life before apocalypse:
Emanuel's story started on the twenty-sixth of August, 1988, when he is born to the family of Aacken; father a surgeon and mother a nurse. Growing up in the nineties, he was aspiring to be a smart and healthy kid, achieving good marks and grades at the private school into which he had been enrolled. Thanks to being born in the Federal Republic of Germany (more commonly known as West Germany), his parents kept the affection towards the west as everyone did, providing him with good education of English language and their culture. Time passed and Emanuel turned into an ambitious young man, who was spearheading towards success. Due to his academic successes (and dismantle of one common theory), he managed to get more education at Cambridge, where he spent most of his early life. But he still didn't feel like it was enough. At the age of twenty-six, he left the Great Britain for the United States; land of opportunities and wealth. Almost immediatelly securing himself a job, he started attending more and more lectures on the topics of natural sciences, striving to become a scientist further in life. But that never came to be. In 2019, the relationships between East and West started deteriorating once again and, eventually, the first official nuclear war began. With only little knowledge to support himself in the anarchist society, he had to adapt to surviving and actually protecting himself for his first time. And oh, how determined was he.

Strengths:
- Knowledge of natural sciences; Being a teacher of biology, he quickly grew a strong sense of understanding human in their physical-side, using this experience in the practicality of extended aid. From his research in the arts of chemistry, he to this very day remembers the reasons for natural acts and how to dispose of them or prevent them.
- Pyrotechnician; Well, technically he isn't considered one. He never was one professionally, but he always considered himself to be one. From his kids days, playing with firecrackers on the streets, to being hired by towns to organize full-scale fireworks. He understands the magic of explosions and, combined with his chemistry research, he would even dare to create some homemade grenades (one of which detonated in his hand).
- Planner; Emanuel loves to have things prepared and ready when he goes anywhere. Be that simple grocery shopping or a scavenging hunt, he loves to have a set plan in place and follow it to the T. They are usually elaborate and cover a wide topic of possible outcomes, which means that, when they are set in place, they usually work.
Weaknesses:
- Slow thinker; If he could be considered a mastermind at planning, then he couldn't at instinctive and explosive reactions. He needs time to think things through and when he is pressured into sudden reactions, they may not be the best ones for said situation. The butterfly effect can go a long way.
- Physical strength; While he isn't the weakest and would definitely be considered decent in the terms of strength, he still would succumb to men and women who regularly work out. With only stamina being his good side physically-wise, he most of the time has to rely on his wits and intellect to carry him out of troubles.

- Johannes Aacken - Father - Neutral; Presumed alive. Him and Emanuel were somewhat distant to say the least. Hans is a strict man, giving Emanuel tough, but prospering childhood. Being a doctor of medicine himself, he pressured the younger man into studying hard and gaining a degree. How pointless was the degree now?
- Christine Aacken - Mother - Loved; Presumed alive. Where his father was strict and firm, the mother made up for it with true motherly parental love. Being soft and benevolent, she supported Em (her nickname for him) in whatever he would do, being extremely happy for when he managed to get a self-sustainable profession. Oh, how much he would love to depart with her properly, or at least learn where she was.
- ??? - Fiancée - ???; Presumed alive (?). A mysterious person in the story of Emanuel Aacken. He barely mentions her and doesn't like the topic of speaking about her, remaining a secret to himself and a few of his selected closest ones.
