Elijah is above all an honest man. He hates being lied to and always endeavors to be as honest as possible. Unless hiding the truth is the better option. He is a dedicated man, a hard worker who doesn't give up easily. He's protective of those he loves and cares for and will put himself in harms way for them. On the flip side he is easily irritated and not very approachable, often making him seem cranky and mean when he would just rather not be bothered. He can be impulsive and bullheaded, not really thinking things through before he acts on them.
Bio
Growing up without a father in a poor Chicago neighborhood is just as shitty as it sounds. The man walked out when he was about three and his mom was pregnant with his twin sisters. There were nights he cried for him, times when the twins wanted to know who their daddy was. But the family never really spoke about it. Just sucked up the hurt and moved on. Elijah moved to the south for college and met my ex-wife, Irene. Mistakes were made and she ended up pregnant so the only option left was to marry her.
They had a good life for a while. They moved out to New York so Irene could pursue a masters degree. Elijah had a great job as a firefighter, bought his family a nice house and everything. He and Irene were happy together. He loved her. Loved their baby girl Diamond even more. But as Irene would gladly tell anyone who listened- he loved alcohol the most. He finds it hard to say what started the drinking, he just couldn't make himself stop. Even as his life was falling apart, he couldn't stop. He lost his job, house was going into foreclosure and bills were starting to pile up. Irene left him, took Diamond and swore he'd never see them again. At that point there was nothing left to do but keep drinking. He left behind the big nice house and moved into a cheap apartment where he could keep the blinds closed and lights off and no one would ask questions. After that the disasters began and suddenly he had more to live for than his next drink. He's desperate to find out where his family is but with so much of the city flooded and inaccessible it's been difficult finding any information.
