Game Crunch

Everyone will be Established Exalts from DotFA, as either a Solar or Lunar.

The Established Solar begins with 9/7/6 Attributes, 45 dots of Abilities after Training Abilities, 20 dots of

Backgrounds, 35 Charms, five dots of Virtues, Essence of 4 and 35 bonus points.

The Established Lunar begins with 11/9/8 Attributes plus two dots to spend in Caste or Favored Attributes, 38 dots of Abilities after Training Abilities, 15 dots of Backgrounds, 30 Charms and/or shapeshifting Knacks, five dots of Virtues, Essence of 4 and 35 bonus points.

Backgrounds are going to be tricky. You can only get points in stuff that will have survived the 1500 year downtime of your suspended animation, so no Backing, Contacts, or other items like that. I have already cut the number of background points down to represent that, but I will still nix anything that I feel won't work for the game.

Absolutely no Flaws. You are First Age Exalts of Essence 5-7! What Flaws would you have? Merits will be evaluated on a case by case basis.

A house rule that I use regarding Sorcery/Necromancy is that you get a free spell of the particular level with the purchase of the Charm.

The upper end of your ages should be the 200-250 year range as Exalts.

The Lunar characters are going to be using the same BP and XP costs for their Charms and Stats. That way, the Solars won't be outdistancing the howlin' mad Lunars. Obviously, Shifting Knacks will still be the listed cost in the Lunar book.

  • Fist Tyrant Scorching Radiant Horizons

    Caste: Full Moon

Motivation: Protect Shining Exemplar while hunting the most dangerous beasts in creation.

Intimacies: Shining Exemplar (Deep Love), Deliberative (Apathetic Contempt), Journeys (Fondness), Luna (Gratitude), Circlemates (Wary Trust), Olivia Deshan (Debt)

    Anima Banner:

    Age/Apparent: 193/20

    Height/Weight: 6'2''/150lbs

    Gender: Male

Totem: Snow Lion with a slight green tint to it's fur.

    Tell: A persistent predatory aura.

    Homeland: The West

    History:

Shining Exemplar was the daughter of the nearby volcano god and by extension the chief priest of the monastery. Whose role amounted to watching after the brats given to it in light of tightened control over the outer territories since it was founded. Left to that small monastery orphanage in the west, Diligent Wanderer was one of the children who ended up in charge of the others. Firstly by the fact their clumsy caretaker needed more looking after than they did and secondly by right of a mean left hook. When not looking after children and an adult more childlike than the children, he took his own time to explore the surroundings on occasion bringing back meat for their dinner rations.

Years passed, and Shining exalted into an Eclipse caste. Vanishing off to the distant heights of Meru, Wanderer continued to look after the children in her absence as he had always done. Occasionally he would think back fondly of his wayward "older sister" and wonder what she was up to now as a lord of creation. Snorting with laughter every time at the thought of her now being a divine ruler. After an extended trip had left him away for days he returned to spot the disintegrating remains of the fair folk, the gunzosha troops purging them, and the rubble that remained of the monastery and the nearby settlement. Needless to say, he was rather despondent about the whole affair and spent weeks in mourning.

Upon pulling himself together his thoughts once again turned to his remaining family, Shining. Deciding he wished to see her once more, Diligent Wanderer set off on a 2 year journey to reunite with her. Crossing the ocean, many solar domains and private reserves, faking hid identity and passing through numerous trials he eventually managed to make it into Meru in a year and a half. Searching through the city and at private residences however showed no results and asking where he could find her only resulted in snubs and on some occasions a chase by questioning authorities. As the end of the 2 year mandatory stay approached, Diligent finally ran out of patience and began to despair at the thought of searching all over creation if he missed his chance. Waiting for the end of the year deliberative meeting to convene he "borrowed" a personal flying transport and promptly drove it through the buildings window. Coming to an elegant crash landing, Wanderer picked himself up amidst the stunned silence dusting himself off and spitting out blood. Glancing around, he finally managed to find her...with her face in her hands.

Before he could go complete his long journey and greet her, a hand was placed on his shoulder. Looking back, he saw that creation now had two enormous moons. Tilting his head farther back he noticed there was an amused face behind them. The pale lady patted his shoulder, poked his forehead, and with her off hand disarmed the guard's halberd that had been going for the back of Diligent's skull. Vanishing as abruptly as she had come there was a brief moment of silence as everyone took in the events.

"Pardoned." Pointing at his forehead, Wanderer took a place beside Shining as the deliberative erupted amidst a strange mix of laughter, outrage, facepalms, and one sidereal sliding Diligent the bill for her now less than pristine transport. After the general ruckus had died down, his name was unanimously voted to be changed to something more exalted much to Diligent's dismay. Going with the previous owner of the exaltation he was renamed Fist Tyrant Scorching Radiant Horizons. Which sort of set the tone with how well he got along with other exalts. Internally cringing at the new name he also suffered the slings and arrows of coining the term, "Diligent Entry" to describe an abrupt and dynamic entrance.

Am I reading it correctly that you have fourteen -2 health levels? Quite the damage soaker, especially if you add Halting the Scarlet Flow to that. And you guys were hoping to get free Ox Body Charms. Wow. If I had said yes to that request, it would take me forever to come close to doing mortal damage to you guys. Not that I'm planning on killing you off, but there will be the occasional challenge for you to overcome.

Don't forget to include the listing of your health levels. How many Ox Body Tech do you have? Is it one or two? Or more than that? Everything looks good, though. Not that I was expecting any problems.

Tulos, the Crag that Scorns the Storm

Dawn-caste Ascetic Monk–Blacksmith

Motivation: Beat the new world back into proper shape: reverence for Sol Invictus and the celestial order beneath Him.

Intimacies:

The act of creation (profound joy),

Comfort (mistrust),

The Unconquered Sun (self-satisfied devotion),

Olivia Deshan—or the new bearer of her exaltation (dutiful gratitude),

Basically all the rest of the Fivescore Fellowship (wrath),

Deliberative governance (respect for traditions),

Creatures of Darkness (contempt),

Terrestrial Exalted (vengeful disgust),

Open road (longing)

Totemic Anima: A golem of golden gears and shining iron plates, twenty feet tall at least, towers over him and shadows his movements.

  • Let's not mince words. Tulos is ugly. When he was a mortal arc-welder, he would never complain about rush orders, mandatory overtime, or even a shortage of protective gear. Naturally, significant burns speckle his face and arms. Even beneath the skin, though, there is something off in the angles of his face. The bones are over-developed and blocky, and the muscles that move his expressions about seem to exaggerate every hardened crease. The rest of him is built on the same pattern, like a Jadeborn warrior scaled up to larger than most humans—close to seven feet tall and half as broad across the shoulders—as though he was forged and roughly hammered into shape, himself.

He dresses in sackcloth and canvas robes, bleached bone-white by the light of his own anima and tied with hempen rope. His clothes, and the worn sandals that complete the outfit, are of the finest construction, from the simplest materials. He carries no pack, no goods, no sign of possessions at all, except one. Slung on his back is what appears to be a sledgehammer with a head nearly the size of a small child. Appears to be, because the whole thing is wrapped end-to-end in strips of heavy muslin. If it's steel, it has to weigh hundreds of pounds, yet he moves freely carrying it.

Ah, the Gem of Perfect Mobility. Quite a nice stone. When I can afford it, I like to take that one.

@Action Replay, any word on the progress of your sheet for Charms and Knacks?

Probably going to hit on first excellencies for everything barring manip, int, per. Stamina and substance charms for sure. Then I'll be going over my list again and see what I need from there. Probably first charm from white reaper style, and other essentials. Might go and be kaijuu along with croc if there's room or buy up with xp later since there probably won't. 3 ox bodies. Tomorrow will be busy so if my brain isn't completely off tomorrow I'll get the rest filled in then. Aside from charms I have everything else down in my head, and was collaborating backstories with varna.

Solistrae has us covered on beastmen it seems. @Myllinnia How do you plan on getting the kiddos out in short order? Lay eggs in an incubation manse?

Hmm I have to look but ya I might need a manse specially designed for speeding that process up. Oo (Notes she still has to do things with her manse background.)

So jacked this template from Action with his permission. Just a heads up.

  • Shining Exemplar Of The Stars

    Caste: Eclipse

Motivation: Creating a functional and powerful nation with her husband lunar

Intimacies: Lunar Husband (loves), Her father (adores), elementals and gods (gets along with), children (adores), sorcery (hobby), learning (hobby), mortals (cares for)

Anima Banner: An array of brilliant stars spiraling around her.

    Age/Apparent: 207/23

    Height/Weight: 6'4''/170lbs

    Gender: Female

    Homeland: The West

    History:

Shining Exemplar had been raised under the knowledge that she'd been sired by a Volcano God. A quiet acknowledgement under the monastery's care and little else. God's rarely if ever admitted to their mortal children and thus was Shining left to her own endeavors. Within the monastery she was regulated to caring for the orphaned children that they had taken in...a clumsy attempt at best, and left for the children to really be looking after her. But it was a happy life and one she cherished over what might have been a career as head of the monastery.

Very nice. I think you are the only person that didn't go for E7 and 10 Willpower. I like it. Lots of Ox Body Technique. Gives me plenty of room to smack you around before you kick off and go for your next Exaltation.

Had a hard time deciding on a name. Decided on Grifnir of the Soul Scorching Gaze

http://1drv.ms/1DeJJZW

The Daiklave I put on there is a core book Orichalcum daiklave with bonus magic that would require approval btw. It's supposed to be an inherited artifact from previous incarnations.

So I skimmed it and problems I saw were mostly the daiklave and one of the languages. "Dragon tongue" doesn't exist, unless you meant the realm languages which are split into high and low realm. Didn't exist in the first age so no logical reason to have that. If it is a standard orichalcum daiklave, by errata the accuracy is 2 higher than it should be. Piercing is a tag and not really a power that needs to be limited to one type of armor. Ignoring mundane armor and doubling rate would be and need approval.

Oh Dragon Tongue is just another name for High Holy Speech which was viable for First Age characters.

As for the Daiklave I s'pose I need to check for errata'd weapon stats real quick. I s'pose I could have worded the piercing thing differently, but just wanted to explain the enhancement.

Here is the Anathema pdf output version btw.

I don't see what makes that daiklave a 4 dot artifact. What are you adding to it to get it to that level? Also, while I can see a Melee Specialty with the blade, how does it give you a Specialty to Dodge? It might be a good idea to move those three dots of Specialties to something else. Finally, the Pendant of Shadows is not an item I know off the top of my head. What book is that in so I know what you're picking up?

Also, while it is entirely fine not to, I would still suggest a Charm or two allocated to Ox-Body Technique, and I don't see any armor. While having some Perfect Defenses and a high DV will keep you from getting hit a lot of the time, there will be occasions that having some armor and extra health levels will be handy.

I want it to have the piercing tag, to ignore mundane armor soak, and to have double rate when it's the only weapon being wielded

For the Daiklave...

I want it to have the piercing tag, to ignore mundane armor soak, and to have double rate when it's the only weapon being wielded (as in rather than buying two Daiklaves...) As for why it does this, I want a blade that can heat itself to the point where it can burn through most armor.

For the Pendant, apparently I got the name wrong, it's the "Amulet of Shadow Walking" from Wonders of the Lost Age on page 53 (54 for pdfs).

For Ox-Bodies and Armor

I'll move some stuff around. For the most part though I never really intended on being hit.

On the specialty

I was having a hard time finding a specialty for dodge I actually liked. The type of armor used will probably determine this one.

I'll make the edits after work.

For your daiklave, is doubling the Rate really necessary? It already has a 4; how many times in a melee do you plan on hitting with it before using Extra Action Charms? Adding the Piercing tag is ok, along with the mundane armor.

The Amulet is ok; I just had to get the right name and reacquaint myself with it.

Ox Bodies and Armor are entirely up to you. You have a massive amount of dodge Charms going on, but you can't always count on having motes for a Perfect Defense when you are going up against a really tough opponent. There is also the issue of unexpected attacks and the high mote cost to dodge an area of effect attack. Just don't want to see you have to make a new character before facing off against my Deathlord foe. Um, forget I said anything about the Deathlord. Yeah, no Deathlords here.

Even something like Silken Armor or, if you want to go a bit more flashy, the Infinite Resplendence Amulet from DotFA with a blend of moonsilver and orichalcum can be helpful. That gives you the every outfit option, +5L/B Soak that doesn't look like armor, and can boost your Appearance by 4 when you want to be the 'high and mighty Lord of Creation' thing going on. I personally love that artifact with the starmetal add-on, letting me store up to 2000lbs of stuff in pockets of Elsewhere.

For the Specialty. I don't want to sound picky, but a dodge bonus to a sword just didn't work for me. You could try something like, Against Multiple Opponents if you plan on diving into the middle of a fight. Or, if you go with something like the cloth armors I mentioned above or something like Discreet Essence Armor, you could do the When Wearing No Armor specialty.

I've played quite a few games where a fight has amounted to flurrying the opponent out of motes. You'd be surprised how effective it can be, especially when Infinite Mastery just lets you double your dice pool for a scene

I don't expect any armor short of a Warstrider being able to save a character from the wrath of a single Deathlord's attack. Those are problems best met with the Zap Brannigan wave of automatons strategy to fill up their kill quota. My group ended our last game a while back fighting the Empress in a Unity of the Closed Fist with Solar and Sidereal Akuma, that fight ended in similar veins of sillyness.

I'm honestly still shopping for Armor, but I find it difficult to end up with no mobility penalties.

Yeah, I'll probably either drop it or tailor it to the Armor I decide to go with.
