Name: Derrick DeKay

Age: 25

Gender: Male

Appearance: 5'8" and 141 lbs.

Strengths:

-Fast. Fast reflexes coupled with overall fast performances are Derrick's ace up his sleeve. His thin build ensures he retains a certain level of agility.

-In Shape. Derrick is not a strong, muscular individual. Instead, he relies on his stamina, as he doesn't run out of breath easily.

-Adaptable. When the apocalypse comes, you either have to adapt or die. Derrick chose the former since he's keen on living.

-Calm. In most situations, Derrick will try to keep his cool. In his opinion, panicking is enemy number one in situations where survival is the objective.

Weaknesses

-Non-muscular. Self-explanatory, but Derrick isn't able to lift more than your average guy. He's no Hercules.

-Enraged. Even if Derrick tries to remain calm, once he's angered, there's a high chance he'll "explode". His aggressivity can get out of hand and he could be baited into getting physical, though because of his build, he'll try to avoid big threats.

-Women. It is a known fact that Derrick likes the ladies. And some ladies also like Derrick. The best way to find out which ladies like him and which don't is through trial and error, obviously.

Personality:

The man behind the skull mask is the thinking man. He would've rather used reason and logic to conquer the apocalypse. He believed that maybe the still surviving humans could be persuaded by acting like a decent human being. Instead of resorting to threats, insults, and intimidation, he wanted to cooperate, help the fellow man in return for the same treatment. He's the real Derrick, hidden under all the dark layers of black leather and ideologies.

The masked man is a man of action. He realizes humanity has been reduced to its most basic instinct: Survival. He knows that, given the chance, his fellow man will sacrifice him for his own gains, to save himself. The only person he can truly trust is himself. His actions are decisive and he is bound to no one.

This is the Region.

This is the Soil.

This is the end of all.

History

Derrick grew up in a religious household. One who believed that you should love your fellow man, the same way you love yourself, always, with a few exceptions, of course. Typical was one of the words you could use to describe Derrick's family. Weekdays meant work, school and doing homework, while Fridays were spent with the loved ones. Saturdays usually meant trips to various places, but never far enough that they couldn't get back by night. Sunday mornings, of course, were reserved for the Lord and mixed easily with dull afternoons and evenings accompanied by friends and neighbors.

As Derrick grew, he started to question certain ideas. Time spent on the internet, which his parents regret getting to this day, revealed to him new ideas, based on facts and hard evidence. He was curious, and that curiosity brought to him answers. Answers which he felt were opposing his previous views. Against his parents' advice he showed his pastor the knowledge he had gathered and when confronted with a debate he felt frustrated, rather than relieved. It couldn't be possible, no. Why were the things that happened on a daily basis even allowed to happen? Why was the world so cruel, when a benevolent God was supposed to watch over? To eliminate malevolence?

When he grew older, he distanced himself from his old beliefs and from his family. He pursued answers on his own and wanted to be free. Derrick bought an apartment away from his birthplace and earned his living being a bartender to a local underground club. Not long after he was evicted from his apartment. The complex was bought out by a company which wanted to turn it into luxury apartments. The undead plague came around when Derrick was still packing up his belongings.

With the last of his t-shirts and being packed away, Derrick chose to take a small break. He glanced around once more at the empty rooms in his apartment. There was a subtle look of sadness on his face. He lived there for 2 years now and he finds it difficult to let go entirely. Derrick yawned heartily, letting out a drawn out moan. With his arms crossed he walked outside to give his place one more good look before the moving company sent out a truck to pick him and his luggage up.

It was a nice evening, he thought, though a little louder than usual. He kept hearing sirens in the distance and felt uneasy. The street he was on was quite empty. After a while, the air got a little chilly so he went back inside, where he came across one of his neighbors. A guy named Walter in his mid-30s who'd recently moved there with his family. He was standing still. Coming up the stairs Derrick let out a greeting, to which Walter did not reply, but instead, he turned around, revealing minor skin tearing around his fingertips and lower face. There was also blood on his shirt, going up to his mouth.

Taken by surprise, Derrick recoiled and uttered an "Are you okay?" towards Walter. Again, he did not reply but instead started moaning and moving towards Derrick. "Oh, I get it! Is this a prank? Come on, Walter, I figured it out." But he did not stop or laugh. No. He kept going, now raising his arms. "Walter, man. Stop playing." Nothing. He got closer. Too close. "Come on, dude, it's not funny!" Before Walter could get his hands onto Derrick, the tattooed man recoiled and grabbed them, throwing them away from him.
This made Walter grunt and scream. He lunged at Derrick, grabbing onto his shoulders, but Derrick kicked him away. "For fuck's sake, Walter! Let me get to my fucking apartment!" Walter didn't listen and went for Derrick's arms, to which he replied by punching Walter straight in the temple, efficiently knocking him back. Walter stumbled down the stairs and Derrick went inside, a little shaken. He turned on the TV and before he knew it, he became the next star of the hit television show, "The Walking Dead".
