Azuma Nagomi
1913441.jpg

Age: 22

Height: 6'2"

Weight: 150

Personality: Affable and easygoing, Azuma is a young man who doesn't like to obsess over the bad things in life. He always does things at his own pace and avoids stressful situations whenever possible. He enjoys being able to relax and indulge in his hobbies, so he's quick to ignore things that aren't of great importance. Life is short, especially in his line of work, so he wants to spend every day doing what makes him happy. He wants other people to do the same, so he often encourages his fellow corps members to take things easy when they can. He'll usually joke around with his comrades and invite them to dinner, wanting to help take their minds off the things bothering them.

Some may describe him as indolent and indifferent, but he takes his duties seriously. He's normally the type to take things slow, but when it's time to work, he'll get the job done as quickly and efficiently as possible, never losing his usual composure. When faced with something truly important, it's like a switch gets flipped. The relaxed air around him becomes intense and he operates like a machine, not sparing a single thought for anything that doesn't have to do with his objective. When his work is finished, he goes back to his usual self.

Despite being a member of the corps, Azuma doesn't have a strong hatred for demons or a burning desire to save the world. His circumstances just leave him with no other option, so he's begrudgingly spending his days killing and trying not to get killed. Still, even if his motivations can't compare to others, he's decided to see things through to the end.

Background: Azuma's mother was a ronin. The woman only took a break from her aimless journey when she needed some good food and good company. One man managed to satisfy both of those needs, and their meeting resulted in a pregnancy that wasn't discovered until they had already separated. Nine months later, she returned to the village where Azuma was conceived and left him with his father. She wasn't the type to settle down, and her lifestyle made it impossible to safely raise children, so she put her trust in the more responsible adult and set off once again.

Azuma only knew about his mother through his father's stories, but her absence didn't bother him much. Truth be told, he didn't have much interest in her or her skills with a blade. Rather than a life of duels and demons, he was far more interested in his father's work.

His father was a chef, and their home also served as a small eatery. Growing up surrounded by food and the villagers who stopped by to enjoy it, Azuma quickly decided that he wanted to follow in his father's footsteps. The world could be cruel and unforgiving, and many people lived in fear of the demons that claimed lives every day. However, something as simple as a delicious meal helped them forget about their bleak reality. For a moment, they could just smile and enjoy their lives, not having to think about a thing. Azuma was captivated by those smiles. He believed he could help more people with a kitchen knife than he could with a sword.

He spent years learning from his father, running the business by his side and experimenting with his cooking. He was always trying to create the best dishes and brew the perfect sake, never concerning himself with things like demons. Life was short, so he wanted to make it enjoyable. However, it was impossible to remain indifferent forever.

During a hunting trip, Azuma found himself at the mercy of a hungry demon. He did his best to fight back, but an ordinary knife was of little help. He was injured, left unable to run or resist. Ordinarily, he would've been easy prey, but his predator suddenly stopped. As blood poured from his wound, the demon seemed to be in a daze and lost their composure. Thanks to that brief moment of confusion, a wandering warrior was able to cleave the demon in half and save his life.

After bringing home the stranger with the intention of repaying their kindness with a meal, Azuma discovered that the person who saved his life was actually his mother who'd left years ago. Surprisingly, it wasn't a very emotional reunion. Instead of being concerned with each other and how their lives had been after separating, his parents were focused on Azuma's brush with death.

According to his mother, the reason for the demon's odd behavior was his blood. Like a strong liquor, it was intoxicating and capable of disrupting a demon's cognitive functions. That quality was enough to save his life, but it didn't mean his blood was a blessing. Marechi were highly sought after, considered a delicacy worth the lives of dozens of humans. Because of this, his mother never stayed in one place for very long, not wanting others to get caught between her and a demon looking for a high quality treat. Unfortunately, Azuma inherited her blood and the concerns that came with it.

After discovering what he was, Azuma left home and accompanied his mother on her travels. While he didn't want to leave his father alone, it was better than putting him at risk whenever he cut himself in the kitchen. He was forced to abandon his peaceful life and learn swordsmanship until he could protect himself. He had no passion for the blade, but he proved to be a quick study, inheriting his mother's talent along with her blood.

After years of training and slaying demons, Azuma became a proficient swordsman. Satisfied with his progress, his mother decided to drop him off in Fuji Village and enlist him in the Demon Slayer Corps, leaving him behind once again. While he still wasn't interested in following the path of the warrior, he was left with little choice.
He made the best of a bad situation and eventually reached the rank of master, but he never stopped thinking about his father back home.

Even now, Azuma thinks about returning to his peaceful life as a cook. While he is able to make the occasional visit back home, he eventually wants to be able to abandon the life of a demon slayer permanently and settle down. However, concerns over his blood make that dream difficult to achieve. In order to make it a reality, he's come to a simple conclusion. If demons were no longer a problem, he wouldn't have to worry about his blood. So, the simple thing to do is make sure they're no longer a threat. If that day comes, he'll be able to leave everything behind.

Relationships:

Rank: Master

Haori Color: White

Nichirin Blade: Azuma uses a pure white katana, along with a pair of smaller blades he often uses as throwing knives.

Breathing style: Thunder Breathing

Derived from: Sun Breathing

Forms:

First Form: Thunderclap and Flash
The user unsheathes their katana, dashes forward at blinding speeds and decapitates their opponent faster than they can react before sheathing it back. This technique is extremely reminiscent of Iaijutsu and its movements are described to be akin to "lightning ripping through the air".

Second Form: Rice Spirit
The user performs several slashes in quick succession. Can be performed while stationary or moving at fast speeds. This serves well as both an offensive and defensive technique.

Third Form: Thunder Swarm
The user surrounds the enemy by quickly attacking them from all directions, keeping them locked into one position.

Fourth Form: Thunder Reign
A relentless assault of attacks where the user attempts to pierce the target's body with lightning-fast stabs.

Fifth Form: Heat Lightning
The user performs an upwards sword slash to disarm an opponent or break their guard.

Sixth Form: Rumble and Flash
The user attacks from a distance by quickly throwing small nichirin blades.

Seventh Form: Aftershock
The user performs a powerful strike that stuns a target's muscles with oscillating waves. While it can be used against the body directly, this technique can also be performed by striking an opponent's weapons, carrying the waves from the area of impact to their arms. After the opponent is stunned, the user immediately attacks with a fast strike.

Eighth Form: Strike Twice
The user moves so fast that they create afterimages, allowing them to catch their opponent off-guard.

Ninth Form: Spark and Crash
The user rotates their body at high speeds and charges the opponent
with a drill-like attack

Tenth Form: Sprite Stroke
Azuma uses his blood to affect the cognitive abilities of demons and takes advantage of their disoriented state by quickly attacking.

Other: Azuma carries two small gourds with him at all times. One contains very strong sake, and the other contains a small amount of his blood. He occasionally uses them to coat his weapons.

Azuma has an extraordinary sense of taste. Aside from cooking, its only use is helping him track game.

Demon Information Card
Suzuki
1630975791738.png
"It's post-Reiwa era, baby, that sorta stuff's totally cool now."

Name:
Iris Tadakatsu (pre-demon)

Age:
26 (Physically)

Height:
165 cm

Weight:
69 kg

Appearance:
Suzuki appears as a pale woman with long, straight, white hair, who otherwise appears to be a regular human with a somewhat average build. There are obvious signs that she is a demon, by virtue of her pair of white horns and her strange and unnerving red eyes with cross-shaped pupils. Often seen in either a very neat red suit with a black waistcoat and watching necktie, she stands out from the rest of her peers quite starkly, especially when she has her clean, white labcoat on. She wears a pair of red-tinted safety glasses as part of her repertoire, though she claims that they 'do nothing'. They used to be able to read details of persons by scanning their facial features, but since that has since been...phased out, it really doesn’t do much outside of being able to read their heart rate.

She has a human disguise that somewhat resembles her when she was a human. In that form, she appears as a young woman with cerulean eyes, and matching hair colour. In this form, she wears a pair of glasses, and her hair is considerably messier. However, she tends to wear a gas mask whenever she chooses to visit the Demon Slayers to lend some medical aid, so her face isn't seen much, if at all. She uses her old human name in this form.

Personality:
A demon obsessed with humanity as a whole. She wants to make them stronger, better, faster, and pursues that ideal to dangerous heights. There is no facade behind her wish. This was always Iris Tadakatsu’s dream, and it has been reborn anew in Suzuki. She views demons as a step forwards from humanity, but also understands that their existence is unsustainable, if she were to turn everyone into demons, and desperately seeks a way to cure or improve upon the life of demons. Her desire is so great that she has willingly experimented on herself, destroying and recreating her own body just so she can see how far she can take it. She lives in eternal disappointment in herself that she cannot go any further than simply removing the cravings of human blood and flesh- even if she doesn’t desire them, she must continue consuming either or both to keep herself alive and healthy.

Suzuki, as a person/demon, is a bit of an eccentric. A side effect of her demon side breaking her mind as she kept attempting to improve herself, she stands out as a little...weird. She speaks in a slang that has not been around for about 50 years, and uses colloquialisms constantly, while peppering her speech with various scientific and mathematical jargon, like referring to regular humans as ‘femtograms’, Demon Slayers as ‘nanograms’, and demons as ‘centigrams’. She has the tendency to drift from topic to topic, and babbling incoherently about things that don’t usually make sense to anyone listening to her, along with bizarre mood swings from depression, excitement, exhilaration, then back to depression., all within a single sentence. She expresses herself very openly, and wears her emotions on her sleeves, so it isn’t particularly difficult to parse what she is feeling at any moment. She has her moments of calm and stability, especially when confronting someone that she cares about, like her favourite Lower Moon acquaintance, or Demon Slayers she has discovered some latent potential in. Yet, she never truly offers any helpful advice to either, choosing to relay cryptic or vague advice. After all, if you simply solve for x for your students, they will never learn.

She kills ‘femtograms’, ‘nanograms’, and occasionally even ‘centigrams’ that she deems as ‘uninteresting integers’ without a shred of remorse, purely because they show no promise in growth, but finds ways to help those she thinks will be able to increase their own probability of survival. She gets a little hot and bothered whenever one of the above even displays a tiny bit of ability to become more than what they are now, and will keep an eye on them, hoping that, one day, they might be able to step into the new world she plans to create, with or without her.

Her human form doesn’t differ much from her usual personality, but whenever she ventures into the human strongholds as a travelling doctor, the wisteria seems to have an adverse effect on her body, and she is several grades more dour and depressing, showing more lethargy. She will do her job as a doctor to perfection, but talking to her at this point of time will earn the aspiring conversationalist a snappy remark and sighs and groans.

Background:
One of the original generation of new demons created from the body of Tadakatsu Iris, a researcher from the same company that the mad scientist came from.

Iris Tadakatsu belonged to a generation where peace finally reigned across the world, spurred on by the advancements of science and medicine, and was a child of German and Japanese descent. Her parents were but humble white collar employees, and only wanted their daughter to have a good life with no worries. Fate did not treat the young girl kindly, however. Or perhaps, fate wanted to open her eyes to another world. Some would believe in the former, but young Iris would put stock in the latter idea instead. She fell deathly ill, and for almost a entire week, her body was taken by a fever most disastrous. Even with the progress of medicine having advanced so far, it was only so much the doctors could do to keep her from boiling over. Some of the doctors even feared that the high fever would irreparably damage her brain. It was in this battle for her life that she would come to her epiphany, that it wasn't enough. The world wasn't good enough. It wasn't perfect enough. She decided, in her throes that she would devote her life to help the world take bigger steps towards the future.

Iris would go on to graduate as an honor student, and later, became a researcher alongside the one that started it all. Fascinated by his approach, she idolised her senior researcher, acknowledging his tenacity and persistence to find new ways for humanity to go forwards, and dedicated her life to his cause. So blinded was she by his light that she failed to see what could go wrong with becoming a demon. The demon Suzuki was born on that day.

Suzuki followed her senior throughout his madness-fueled rampage through the world and participated in many of them. That was, until they brought a young girl, now known as the Lower Moon 2, Tsubame Suzune, into their fold. When her senior instructed Suzuki to patch the girl up, Iris Tadakatsu reemerged just enough to sow seeds of doubt in her mind. With that strange, inexplicable emotion now bearing flowers in her heart, Suzuki slowly distanced herself from her senior and his cohort, eventually being demoted to Lower Moon 3- still within his inner circle, but at the lowest rung. Calling upon her knowledge, she began to experiment on herself, physically altering herself to the point where she no longer needed to depend on her senior, or on human flesh entirely. Across the years, she dug up more and more archives of the Days of Peace (as she called them) and further expanded her knowledge, and began to develop her own powers in earnest, while altering herself even more. Her demon blood, however, seemed to corrupt her mental capacity in certain ways, turning her into the eccentric that she is today.

Now, she still takes orders from the Demon King, and is more than happy enough to subtract the uninteresting integers that crop up. They will be of no help in solving for the unknown. She will help humanity return, and to that end, she will assist with parties where able. Donning a human disguise, she has been able to infiltrate the human strongholds, acting as a travelling doctor and surgeon, peddling her skills for donations of blood, using a myriad of excuses for why she does just that. Research, selling to demons for supplies and/or safety, or, more blatantly, consumption, are a few of her reasonings.

Relationships:
Humanity:
She has a love-hate relationship with humanity as a whole. She cannot tolerate how they have regressed and how they will not pull themselves out of their slump. However, her whole existence has been for the progression and evolution of human life, and as such, she cherishes those she can save, and she seeks a way to break the glass ceiling, and further improve their lives. What remains of humanity outside of the wisteria barriers see her human form as a benevolent, if a little eccentric, doctor. At the same time, they also view her demon form as a madman who will go to extreme lengths to return to a time where everything was better, even through death and experimentation.

Upper Demon Moons:
She has no particular interest in any of them. They are a scientific bore to her, and she doesn't find them as interesting as most would. Even their personalities fail to pique any interest. No growth, no willingness to become better, nothing. They were at their peak, and that bored her.

Lower Demon Moons:
On the other hand, she finds these a lot much more fascinating, and keeps an eye out on the other lower demon moons. At least, the ones that spark some level of interest in her. If she were to cure demonisation, these would be her first patients, purely because they had the drive, and they had more growing to do. She shows some strange interest in Tsubame Suzune, and, very oddly, seems to regard her as a daughter of sorts.

Other Demons:
She spits on their existences, especially the ones that have no other function than to go on rampages. On more than one occasion, she has killed some of them personally, just because they bored her. She will take notice of the more special ones, however, and will take some time to study them. If they show no improvement, however, she will dispose of them.

Rank:
Lower Moon 3

Nichirin Blade or Weapon:
Mechanical arms and legs (stronger, more precise, AND cheaper to replace!)

Blood Demon Art:
Technology Replication
Suzuki's Blood Demon Art is a...unique one, to say the least. Combining her expertise in science and related fields, she is capable of utilising her blood arts to replicate and create technology and their functions for a short period of time. Though most of her creations are fairly weak in terms of firepower, her ability to swarm the field with numerous constructs (or Functions as she calls them) makes her just as capable in battle as most demons go. Utilising this Blood Demon Art is unique due to the necessary secondary requirements of knowing just how each construct should be created, and if one takes the time to actually dissect her constructs, they will find that they possess extremely complicated internal systems. They do not require energy to function, and seem to be sustained through the supernatural force behind Blood Demon Arts, hence their short-lived existence.

Forms:
Function 328: BCS Scout: Suzuki creates a swarm of small drones that can fly off to scout out areas. They have some longevity when compared to the rest of her functions, and can last several hours. They are quite small, about the size of a hand, and tend to stay in places that give them good coverage, but they are especially fragile. She can see what they see through her own eyes.

Function 329: BCS Assault: Suzuki creates a swarm of small drones that chase a target and blast them with a single shot of concentrated energy. They dissipate after executing their 'fire' function. They can be cut down easily, and they engage in close quarters to maximise their potential, so a particularly talented Demon Slayer would be able to take them down before they even fire off a round.

Function 330: BCS Cannon: Suzuki creates a larger drone that resembles a large ring. It is too heavy to make any navigation, but they are the heavy hitters in Suzuki's arsenal. She uses the BCS Cannon as her prime method of direct assault, and they fire a powerful kinetic beam that can dent even reinforced steel.

Expanded Function 330: BCS Cannon Fortissimo: Suzuki creates a swarm of Function 330 around her and fires away in a straight line. This attack is either a coup de grace or a desperation attack to completely rid herself of her opponent.

Function 444: Reinforcement: Suzuki grants one of her constructs a harder body, making them harder to dispatch.

Expanded Function 444: Reinforcement Solo: Suzuki reinforces and temporarily repairs her own arms and legs, making them as tough as the steel they will be clashing against. This is one of her last resort demon arts, as she is loath to use her own fists in a fight. It's not to say she isn't capable of handling herself in one, she just prefers to sit back and enjoy the fireworks.

Function 619: Known Variable: Suzuki creates a mimicry of a person, be it a demon slayer, human, or a demon. It cannot speak, and does not have its own sentience, so conversation with it is pointless. It will execute a set route of attacks brought up from whatever records Suzuki has on the original, before dissipating. Naturally, however, attempting to mimic powerful blood arts of other demons is borderline insane. Suzuki's Scarecrows will instead execute much weaker versions of their blood arts if she chooses to utilise them.

Function 999: 'This Probably Isn't Going As Calculated, All Variables Considered, So I'm Getting Out Of Here': Suzuki creates a large ring on a surface that functions as a portal to her own hideout, and retreats, immediately quitting the place. The portal closes immediately after unless she wills it otherwise, so no one (unless they're quick enough) is going in, and no one is coming back out.

Other:
Suzuki has altered her own body to be able to receive nutrients through other means than human consumption, and is free from any actual control anyone has on her. She still tries to keep a constant intake of human blood to be able to use her myriad of Blood Arts, and either kills those she sees unfit for further examination or takes blood from willing donors. As a result, however, she is physically weaker than most, if not all, of her peers, and has slower regenerative abilities than all of them.

She has her own personal hideout that she has made underneath a waterfall somewhere near Shasui Falls in Kanagawa, siphoning power from the waterfall. It contains most of her inventions (or more accurately, reinventions) and a medical room. Very rarely has any healthy being, human, demon, or otherwise, stepped foot into this hideout of hers, though she has been known to use it to treat human patients, before returning them to the outside world, whenever she needs access to proper tools.

Name: Jomei Jieyu
Age: 21
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 167lbs
Appearance:

Personality:
A hopeless romantic, in the idyllic sense, Jomei is a lover rather than a fighter who's picked up the blade in the pursuit of a brighter tomorrow. While an experience in her past has led her to bear some resent for Demons, she maintains that what she fights for is not justice or revenge, but rather for the sake of protection and preservation. She's unafraid to state as much too, even in the presence of, or rather especially in the presence of her more radical comrades in the Demon Slayer Corps.

In general, Jomei is a very loose-tongued young lady. Her before her time as a Demon Slayer, Jomei was an apprentice performer in several of the stage arts, training her to know her way around the verbal battlefield well enough, even when she's surrounded by battle veterans and living legends. That apprenticeship, too, bestowed a particular fondness upon her for smiling crowds and laughing companions, so she'll generally try to brighten the mood wherever she goes.

All of this isn't to say she isn't without her own baggage, because in a world plagued by Demons, it'd be an impossibility to not be, but rather that she makes an effort to not let it define her. She values personal strength quite dearly and firmly believes that it will be more important than any sword technique of demon art when fighting the battle to come.

Background:
The theatre. It's a place where people come to cheer and jeer, to while their free time away and leave their sorrows behind. Since childhood, Jomei had been possessed by a fascination with the performing arts. Even in times of torment, when a Demon could be but a moment away, the theatre allowed people to get away from their woes.

Her mother was an especially devout regular, often taking her to the Noh, Kabuki and Rakugo performances that would occasionally be held in their town hall. They were some of the scant few moments Jomei had ever, and still has ever, seen the woman without an ocean of sweat on her brow, and the world on her shoulders. Those evenings spent nestled atop her mother's lap entranced by the performance of the night are still some of Jomei's brightest.

It was as she came of age that those memories started to dim. The more of her innocence she lost, the more the glitz and glamour of those nights started to wear off. She started to see the anxiety and doubt that hid behind the smiling faces of the crowd. She saw the way they were trying to forget, to forget how their lives might be wiped away at any instant, or the resent they felt for the life they were forced to live, hidden away in isolated villages rent apart from the world.

It only worsened when she enrolled under a particular performer as an apprentice. She left the village she called home at his side, and they ventured between other towns, putting on shows and brightening spirits as they went. Or, at least, that was the snake oil they were selling themselves. Even when she was giving her all on stage, she could see the same darkness in the eyes of her audience, and the more she spoke with other performs, the more she realized that they were not free of worry either. It was like a dark, wriggling worm in her gut. Nothing was sacred, nothing free of the malaise of fear and paranoia that the Demons cast over the land, not even the efforts of those who worked to quell it.

Her dissatisfaction grew until it finally reached a boiling point. She'd heard tell of the Demon Slayers in her journies across Japan, nigh-mythologized tales of brave men and woman who took a stand against the Demon menace, and they lit a pyre of romanticism in her heart. She started to investigate the organization openly until she eventually found her lead in the form of a humble old man.

He was, if his words were to be believed, a failed swordsman and showman both. Her teacher spoke ill of him, dismissing the man as little more than a withered old crackpot, but Jomei was ensnared by the man's words. He spoke to her tales of his own experiences, ones of victory and tragedy, and it was like pouring oil onto the fire that burned inside of her. She begged her teacher to release her from his service so that she might follow the way of the blade. Normally, he'd have denied her outright, but inside her eyes he saw a fire burning not with hate or vengeance, but with hope, something that had become such a rarity that he could not bring himself to snuff it out.

He cut his would-be former apprentice a deal. They would part ways for a year, and if she were able to impress him upon his return, then not only would he support her choice, but he'd handle breaking the news to her mother. So on his way he went, and for the next ten months Jomei experienced a more gruelling hell than she'd ever experienced before. She'd had experience enough with intense training during her time as an apprentice, but it had never been as physically demanding as this. Every move she made was scrutinized, every stroke of the blade and flex of her muscles. The Breath of the Stage, the form of swordsmanship which her second Master impressed upon her, demanded nothing less than perfection.

It was all going swimmingly, until one night she awoke to the scent of fire. Her eyes snapped open, and she beheld a bedroom beleaguered by smoke and ash. Outside her window, the clashing of blades sung into the night like a chorus, and she could spot her Master doing battle with an extravagant looking Demon. The two danced through the night, a trial of sound and silk transforming their duel into what might have been a beautiful dance, if it had not been for the blood that had drenched in her master's clothes.

He was fighting his hardest, but even an idiot would have been able to tell that his battle was a losing one. Age stained his movements, while the Demon danced through the night as if it cost him no effort at all, so Jomei did the only thing she could think of.

She retrieved her blade from her beside and leapt into the fray. Tragically, though, she wasn't able to land even a single stroke over her sword upon the Demon, and all she had done is put herself in harm's way. The Demon jeered and mocked at her, dragging her Master's name through the mud as he did. A washed-up old fool, he called him, so taken with his ideals that he'd withered away into nothing but a failure. His words ran like hot magma through her veins, only worsening her technique further and further, until she eventually found herself caught by the throat. Her Master still stood, but there was little he could do in the situation they found themselves in.

On that night, both of them probably should have died, but that foe they faced was one possessed with a twisted mercy. He bode her Master an offer; disown his way of life, and run himself through the chest with his blade, and he would let his student go. Jomei struggled at the Demon's grasp, biding the old man to do nothing of the sort, to flee into the night until the sun broke the horizon and live to see another day, but he hardly even had to consider the idea.

It only took a few moments for the old man to prostrate himself. He spoke for minutes that felt like hours, telling tales of regrets she'd never know the man possessed, and then in the longest moment she'd ever experienced, he ran himself through the chest. The Demon was practically possessed by delight, but Jomei was too devastated by what she'd witnessed to get angry about it. He spoke some words of perverse encouragement and congratulation as she sat huddled over her Master's still warm corpse, and then true to his word, bid the girl farewell.

Jomei remained at the charred ruin of a home for a few weeks. She awaited the return of her first Master, and when the day came when he returned and found the house in ruins. There was still hope in her eyes, and he was glad to see that what the girl had experienced had not stained her soul completely, but it was doubtless that it had changed her. Still, he was a man of his word, and when her newfound sword skills left him swept off his feet, he conceded defeat.

On that day Jomei parted ways with both of her Masters. Before his death, her second Master had revealed to her the location of the Demon Slayer's HQ in the event that the worst happened, and that was the first place she went.

Relationships:
  • A hardworking Mother and a deadbeat Father. Jomei's Mother is living in safety in one of the Wisteria villages, going about her life under her presumption that Jomei is currently employed using her theatrical talents in a distant village. Her Father on the other hand, is god-knows-where, and frankly, Jomei has little interest in asking the big guy upstairs where exactly 'where' is.
Rank: Corps Member
Haori Color: Beige, and decorated with a tapestry that depicts a bustling Noh stage. Jomei has decorated her Haori with a series of silks and ceremonial bells, which gently ring as she does battle.

Breathing Style: The Breath of the Stage - A Breathing Style developed by a foreign performer who once wrought a path of bloody vengeance across feudal Japan. It takes the form of an extravagant web, spun together through innumerable threads of extravagance and deceit. The Breath of the Stage is a Style even more heavily rooted in technique than most, finding its foundation in very intricate movements that demand flexibility, speed, and most importantly, consistency. Even minor errors can render the Style's forms ineffective, to the point where it fell out of fashion well before Muzan's fall even came.

Nichirin Blade: The Breath of the Stage is built on the foundations of a moderately modified Nichirin Blade. Most prominently, a 'clapping' mechanism is located within the blade's hilt, ringing out with a resounding crack when the blade is properly swung. Additionally, a long, sash perfumed with the aroma of a Wisteria Flower dangles from the pommel's base, half the length of the sword itself. These are employed to disorient and distract enemies, muddling their enhanced senses with a series of deafening cracks and the pungent scent of poison. Jomei's variation of this blade is a dirty, pale yellow, resembling the color of bone.

Stage Breathers further wield a bladed fan composed of Nichirin Steel. It is primarily employed as a tool of defence rather than attack, employed within the Breath of the Stage to supplement the user's parries and feints, but is still sharp enough to gouge through the flesh of a Demon that might be caught unaware.

Derived from: Breath of the Water

Forms:
  • *First Form, Hanamichi - An advancing strike. The user skips forward, almost seeming to glide along the ground as they bear down on their opponent. They then deliver a series of three blows in a random order, one a high strike, one a crouching blow, and the last a horizontal slash.
  • *Second Form, Boke -The user intentionally imitates another of either their own strikes, or one of another Breathing Technique without regard for refinement nor precision, naturally fumbling the strike and leaving an opening for the enemy to strike.
    • *Second Form, Tsukkomi - Following up Boke, the user will quickly recover their form as the enemy attacks, twisting their way out of the provoked attack and striking the enemy wherever their guard is the weakest.
  • *Third Form, Tayu - An technique that utilizes on the user's fan rather than their blade. In Tayu, the user catches an oncoming blow their the edge of their fan and gently guides it aside. It does not harm the enemy much, if at all, but the movements are quick and efficient, allowing it to be used multiple times in quick succession, deflecting the enemy's blows and scraping away at their flesh.
  • *Fourth Form, Ningyo Joruri - The user turns their body limp as an attack approaches, suddenly dropping to the ground as if they had spontaneously become a corpse. Before they tumble to the ground completely, they will resume control of their body, twisting their relaxed muscles in a nigh-impossible manner to warp their body around the oncoming attack as if they puppeteering themself along the attack's strings. As they pass them by, they will smear their perfumed sash along any open wounds, causing them to burn with the pain of Wisteria Poison.
  • Fifth Form, Kurogo - A strike to be executed when the user is outside the enemy's field of view. They simultaneously flick their blade out in one direction using its sash, and trigger the clapping mechanism, while they move in the opposite direction themselves. As the enemy turns to face the noise, they pull the blade back in and dance around the enemy in one fluid motion, delivering a long, refined slash.
  • *Sixth Form, Hayashi -An evasive manoeuvre that may be transformed into one of four following strikes. In Hayashi, the user moves to catch an incoming blow with the back of their blade, and then drops their blade and dodges out of the way instead. When properly executed, the foe's swing will go wide, and the user will then yank their blade back in through the pommel sash.
    • *Hayashi Fue - A straightforward thrust that may be executed if the Hayashi dodge leaves the user in a standing position. Generally aimed for the throat or between the eyes.
    • *Hayashi Otsuzumi - A quick Iaido that the user can execute if they dodge into a crouched position. The user catches their blade their its scabbard as it travels through the air, and then quickly draws it again to strike before the enemy can recover from their attack.
    • Hayashi Taiko - A parry that may be executed if the enemy recovers more quickly than expected. As the user has disarmed themselves of their Katana, they instead draw their steel fan and use it to lash out at the enemy whilst they think they hold the advantage. The user will then use the time this attack buys them to recover their blade and retreat to a neutral position.
    • Hayashi Kotsuzumi - An overhead strike that may be executed if the user makes a long dodge. The user yanks their blade back towards them and over their shoulder, catching the blade mid-flight and transferring its force into a guillotine blow.
  • Seventh Form, Shinigami - A simple, precise strike, intended for execution. In Shinigami the user twists their body, spinning their body first in one direction, and then the next, guiding their blade towards the enemy's neck in both instances. A proper use of Shinigami occurs within an instant, and thus requires a great degree of coordination, balance, and focus from the user. Improper technique will not render the strike useless, but it will hamper the speed and lethality for which it is usually known.

Suzuki

This is kinda interesting tbh, seeing as humans regressed back before the technological age it’s cool to see a demon use something that most humans now will have no idea how it works.

Name: Jomei Jieyu
Age: 21
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 167lbs

Personality:

She saw the way they were trying to forget, to forget how their lives might be wiped away at any instant, or the resent they felt for the life they were forced to live, hidden away in isolated villages away from the world.

Other:
  • Jomei wears a white Hannya Mask into battle, carved from the wood of a fallen Wisteria Tree.
Okay I love this for so many reasons but the breath style is beautiful and I really love the bladed fan.
