"The Bazaar stole London three decades ago. Of course only anarchists and revolutionaries say 'stole' any more. Everyone who matters has grown to know and love the status quo. It's quiet down here. All those jewels and mushrooms and all that black water. What could be better?"

"You're new to the Neath, aren't you? Or... are you? I've not seen you around before. Is that zee-water I smell on your clothes, or have you just been down to the Singing Mandrake? Ach, I don't know. How about you tell me who you are?"

Name :
Hieronymus "the Liar"
Title (optional) : The Masked Deluder
Status : Person of Some Importance (PoSI)
Gender : Male
Height : 6' 0"
Body build : Slim
Brief appearance : With slicked-back, ashy brown hair, the Deluder presents a smart visage. Across his forehead lies the fated scars, the ones that explain his name. Scratched out and white against the Deluder's fair skin are the letters L I A R, a permanent reminder of, what he says, he "used to be". He stands with his chin raised slightly, a reminder to himself that he is important. Whether he is to others is unknown to him, though he assumes he is impressive.
Clothing preference : His usual attire is the suavest suit he can afford, though it is clear it has been oft repaired. He wears gloves when outside, taking them off when inside, mimicking the behaviour of a social class he does not belong to. On occasion, he carries a cane, though not always. And, his most impressive piece, a mask. Always hiding his face behind some type of mask, its style can change from masquerade-style to simple and effective, to black as coal. Each has their own use, from fashion to utility. And, should you see his face, you're either very lucky or very unlucky.

Skill(s) : Persuasive, Dangerous
Occupation : Poet, storywriter (reluctant).
Character strengths : The Deluder prides himself on his charisma and ability to lie. Though he also prides himself on how well he believes he has overcome his dark past. Though no area of the Neath is light, the Deluder always looks for it. Not because of optimism but because he knows the light helps him more than the dark does. Also, his eyes look better in the light. The Deluder also seems to have a great strength of not starving to death; he buys things as soon as he gets his hands on any money, leaving nothing or very little to be used in necessities. Even so, he never seems to look battered or starving, nor does his countenance suggest any life struggle so far.
Character flaws : The Deluder's sexual interests can sometimes derail him, as he chases those he considers "interesting" no matter anything about them. It would also not be uncommon to see him following his own path. Whether he would do this just to give him more reason to hold his head high, or to 'test the water' would be decided later. He also enjoys dangerous midnight strolls on occasion, but thus far he has been unharmed.
Brief history : Perhaps it is easiest to describe the Deluder's previous life with the word 'mountebank'. Although he never attempted to sell anything, it was his patter and speech that provided him with his freedom. He was a burglar, to be vulgar, stealing things of small importance to things that would be instantly missed by their owners. However, the Deluder used his lack of skill in this area to his advantage. Should he be seen, which was relatively common, he'd find a stranger and persuade them into his coat. When the constabulary came around, the Deluder would already be long gone. And his criminal record? Uncreated.

The Masked Deluder's Rattus-Faber Bandit Chief, Carrellés, is named after a depressed artist the Deluder took a fancy to months ago. He speaks, and accompanies the Deluder wherever he may go. Although reluctant and resistant to do so, Carrellés is just about intelligent enough to understand his place in life now is by the Deluder's side. He speaks in simple sentences, with a cockney accent, and enjoys chewing things. The Deluder's table- and chair-legs have had batterings, and he is not happy with Carrellés because of this.

full

Clothing preference :
Either formal gown for social occasion, or outfit with a nice long coat when sport and discretion is needed. She knows the power of good attires so very rarely does she dress ragged or lousy.
Skill(s) : Watchful, Persuasive
Occupation : Scholar (currently not employed by university)
Character strengths: As a pursuer of curious knowledge, she has everything she needed. Her unquenchable curiousity, her undeniable charm, her steadfastness and just enough of cunning. She understand her strength in persuasion and watchfulness, and with them she got hold of many secrets. Some did volutarily welcome her, for her charm not only came from pretty gowns, but also gentle heart and patience, even some rightousness that you so rarely see in Neath.
Character flaws : Her kind heart and rightousness does lead to some unwise decision, for sometimes it was impossible to please everyone. Her curiousity brings recklessness. Viola would not be surprised herself if one day she die in the ruins expedition or killed for her secrets, still she plunges into the dark mysteries with no remorse. And lastly, though she was so aware of her charm, she still couldn't surpass the devils, and though she lack naiveness of believing one, she was now getting too acquaintented with one of them. What's the use of keen eyes if the heart sees its opposite ways?
Brief history: Lady Viola, as she taught how to address her to the urchin boys, had been in Neath for quite some time. She first made her name in ladybones road, but soon her footprints were on every road of the common streets and hidden ones. She knew how to dress to impress, and was frequently seen in social events. But her open passion was the secrets of the ruins, and every secrets and mystery unreached by most. What was enough to drive a man insane kept her advancing.
She led an sucessful expedition in the ruins of Forgotten Quarter, and learned of the ancient relics and their letters in writing, the "correspondence plaques". That quickly earned her seat and her own office in the university, helping her further pursue her passion. After a few term of lecture, however, it was said the study was halted and she was kicked out. She wouldn't speak of the reason.

Since you've proven yourself to know the game through our chat, I think it's fine for you to be a PoSI.

Cassy P. Turner

8b4f00834260c1d3838db8fb440041e8.jpg

Title:
"Ms. Fantasma"
Status:
Newcomer
Gender:
Female
Height:
5'7

Body build:
Mesomorph

Brief appearance:
Cassy possesses dark, thick brunette hair; always messily tied up, a permanent icy stare, and rough pale skin. She is free of any scars, at least any horribly noticeable ones anyway, and is generally rather plain in appearance. She does have a sturdy physique though. She's a bit stronger than your average lass in terms of physical strength, and it is quite apparent in her build.

Clothing preference:
Anything dark in color is of use to Cassy. Her style is more practical than it is flashy, consisting of weightless and mobile articles of clothing allowing her to be swift when she needs to be. While regular feminine dresses don't really cut it, she will don one if the situation demands it, but even then are her 'fancy' clothes poorly mundane. She doesn't dress like a pauper per say, unless it gives her an opportunity, but appearances have never been a priority to her. Especially not when a girl gets by in the shadows. A nice overcoat with many pockets is a must. And perhaps a nifty pair of black gloves.

Skill(s):
Shadowy

Occupation:
Spirifer, working with Cheshire L. Turner.

Character strengths:
Cassy is a quick thinker like her brother, but she's also a bit more adaptable. She's also amazingly stealthy and light on her feet. She slips in and out of situations in just matters of seconds.

Character flaws:
She's a bit one-track minded, being a little too determined to reach her goals that she prioritizes winning over all else.
She's also a bit emotionally detached and often throws tantrums when things frustrate her.

Name : Cheshire Lupin Turner
Title (optional) : The Mad Hatter, The Tea Time Vagabond, Mr.Nobody
Status : Newcomer
Gender :
Male
Height : 5'11"
Body build : Slim but Athletic
Brief appearance : A suave gentleman
Clothing preference : He is usually seen in an elegant white outfit that consists of a white top hat, white gloves, a tie that is black and grey , a white suit-shirt and undershirt. He sometimes carries a white cane adorned with a silver skull at the top of it
Skill(s) : Dangerous
Occupation :
Spirifer partnered with Cassy Turner
Character strengths : Cheshire is not a heartless man he has just learned to use his heart less in his line of work. Although Cheshire enjoys conflict, often showing up wherever there is potential for one, he usually stays out of it, preferring to observe the fight instead of directly taking part in it. However, when provoked, he quickly puts his opponent in his place by simply proving his superiority without actually beating the other person. He is adept in using his cane as a weapon in battle so in fact that he often says it's an extension of himself.

Character flaws : He is always overconfident that his ability will safely carry him out of harms way. he greatly enjoys putting people in enjoyable or chaotic situations in order to observe their reactions. He is prone to eccentric moments nestled in between serious moments, making light of a heavy mood and is portrayed as a man with more money than sense, but is very cheap when it comes to spending on others. He's a person most of the characters, himself included, could never trust, because they never know what he could or would do. Like his sister, he loves to eat sweets

WORK IN PROGRESS

image.png
Name :
Clement
Title (optional) :
The Unfinished Poet
Status :
Person of Some Importance
Gender :
Male
Body build :
Enormous
Brief appearance :
Clement is not much different from any other Clay Man. A huge, lumbering brute, seemingly made of grey clay, with a series of strange symbols carved upon his forehead. Square features, a bald head and a stony gaze are the defining traits of all Clay Men. An immediate difference from those of his kind, however, is the choice in clothing. As a poet, Clement frequents certain types of company that would very much frown upon him were he to show up wearing the garb of a dock worker. Furthermore, an inquisitive gaze may notice that all fingers on the Clay Man's hands are no more than small stumps, effectively defining him as an Unfinished Man.
Clothing preference :
Indeed, Clement's preference in clothes is very much different than that of other Clay Men. He has learned that, to be taken seriously, those of his kind must "dress to impress". In fact, The Unfinished Poet has a reputation of always dressing in the sharpest of suits, even when such a task is made slightly more difficult by his sheer size. Nonetheless, Clement is the proud owner of an impressive collection of high-class clothes, all specifically tailored for giants of clay.
His usual garb consists of a sober suit of black felt, a pair of well-polished ratskin boots, a respectable red tie and a couple of white gloves with part of the fingers cut off. This garb is usually topped by a heavy grey overcoat if the night is particulairly windy, altough that dosen't really bother the Clay Man, for reasons you may well imagine.
When carousing through the more dangerous parts of London, Clement may be seen wearing an Iron Top hat, for the obvious purpose of protecting his head from any unforseen accidents.
Skill(s) :
Persuasive, Dangerous
Occupation :
Poet
Character strengths:
As one may expect, Clement possesses all physical qualities that the Clay Men are so famous for. A herculean strenght and an exceptional resistance to blows ensure that any rascal in a dark alleyway would have a very hard time at putting him down.
However, unlike many of his brothers in clay, The Unfinished Poet has a certain degree of academical education. For this reason, many underestimate him, thinking of Clement as just another Clay Man butler working for some wealthy noble. These situations usualy turn out in his favour, as his interlopers do not expect the clay statue of being so eloquent with words, or having such a vast knowledge of London matters.
Working as a poet does also have its perks. Clement has learned how to string together certain words to convey certain feelings, and he has become quite good at it.
Furthermore, being a poet opens up quite a few chances at socializing with people of a certain class. As such, the unfinished man does have a number of contacts whom would be willing to help him settle difficult matters, should the need to do so arise.
Character flaws :
As with many of his Unfinished brethren, Clement also does tend to be easily infuriated. However, be assured that he tries his best to not let those primal instincts take over his mind. It would surely hurt his reputation, were that to happen.
Being a Clay Man does also bring some complications, especially in high society. There is still a significant number of skeptics who see him as just another brute trying to fit in with human society. They tend to take every chance they have to make fun and belittle The Unfinished Poet.
The life of a Clay Man in general is not the easiest. Their kind tends to lack the dexterity required in some aspects of human life. In Clement this flaw is even amplified, as his lack of fingers makes it difficult to manipulate even the simplest of instruments.

The Rainbow

Name: Mrs Red
Title: The Bloodied Fist
Status: Newcomer
Gender: F
Height: 5’7”
Body build: Lean
Brief appearance: Pale skin. Long, dark red hair that reaches to base of her shoulder blades. Bright red lipstick. Feminine cheekbones and appointed chin. A medium bulb nose. Dull green eyes.
Clothing preference: A red leather bodysuit beneath a tearaway formal red dress. She always carries an umbrella and large handbag with her wherever she goes. The former doubles as a steel club while the latter contains other tools of the trade like knives and incendiaries.

Skill: Dangerous
Occupation: Bodyguard/Thug
Character strengths: Mrs Red knows how to fight and knows how to make a scene. Sometimes you can’t buy someone, or your opponent is paying them more. Sometimes they just don’t believe you’ll follow through with your threats without proof. That’s when the rainbow sends her in. She knows how to break things.
Character flaws: Unexpectedly Mrs Red can be overly enthusiastic in her job. It’s not unknown for her to jump the gun and act before action is required. Or take things a little far. You can’t extort money from a shop if the whole thing burns down.

Name: Yellow
Title: The Smiling Trickster
Status: Newcomer
Gender: Androgynous
Height: 5’9”
Body build: Lean
Brief appearance: Pale skin, medium bulb nose and dull green eyes. A messy mop of blonde hair that hasn’t been combed in months. An unremarkable face. The only outstanding features are their thin, angular eyebrows used to great effect and their perfect white teeth.
Clothing preference: A dark yellow vest over a yellow button up shirt. Pinstriped yellow trousers and formal yellow shoes. He often has a tube shaped duffel bag around.

Skill: Persuasive
Occupation: Peddler of information
Character strengths: Yellow emits an aura of menace. People don’t talk to them for longer than necessary as their mere presence makes them uncomfortable. They’re good at getting people to talk and putting the fear in them. It takes a brave man or woman to say no to Yellow. When it comes to the physical side of things Yellow has a knack for hiding and sneaking.
Character flaws: Arrogant and with a superiority complex, Yellow has underestimated people before and will surely do it again. For a dealer of information they’re awfully quick to dismiss the struggles of those they consider weak or inferior.

Name: Mr Blue
Title:The Blue House
Status: Newcomer
Gender: M
Height: 5’8”
Body build: Lean
Brief appearance: Pale skin with a medium bulb nose. A stern face with high cheekbones and bright blue eyes. Short black hair, immaculately groomed and slicked back.
Clothing preference: A loose blue suit over a black shirt and blue bowler hat. Always with a suitcase in hand.

Skill: Shadowy
Occupation: Gambler
Character strengths: When the rainbow needs funds it turns to Mr Blue. A renowned gambler it’s hard to be that successful and not be a cheat. Mr Blue himself would tell you that it’s actually impossible. And then he’d pull the shank from your gut and take your wallet before leaving you in the alleyway. A fast mind and faster hands.
Character flaws: Mr Blue knows he’s good, and he likes to show it. It’s gotten him beaten up and thrown out of more than one establishment. But the man doesn’t learn.

Brief History: If a group of individuals could blackmail the Queen of England and earn the prize of an entire city as a result, why couldn’t a lone individual do the same? Of course a lone individual was vulnerable as the queen had shown, while there was strength in numbers. That was the thought that inspired the creation of the Rainbow. Surprisingly the individual behind them all was perfectly healthy mentally at the time. Though as they have forced themselves to live seven different lives that has changed and their mind is now irrevocably altered. .And what was the best play to test their theory but within Fallen London itself?

There are four other members of the Rainbow. Mr Orange, Mrs Green, Mr Violet and Mrs Indigo. They will be playing a more minor role in the story and thus won’t be described here.

For complete clarification The Rainbow is a group of seven personalities inside a single body. As far as any other PCs and NPCs are concerned they are seven different individuals working under the same organisation. They use a collection of custom made clothing and make up to quickly switch between the personalities without needing to return to their place of residence.

Title : The Elusive Intriguer. The Deft Watchmaker.
Status : Person of Some Importance.
Gender : Female.
Height : Average.
Body build : Fit.
Brief appearance :
150
Clothing preference : While playing the part of The Elusive Intriguer, she wears a top hat, a fine ratskin suit concealed under an opera cloak. While working as a watchmaker, she tends to wear rough, workman clothing.
Skill(s) : Shadowy, Dangerous.
Occupation : Spy, Watchmaker.
Brief History : The few bits of information floating around in the Great Game about the Intriguer is that she is an agent for one of the biggest powers on the surface. In reality, this is information she herself spread, and the Watchmaker never left the Neath, being a faithful servant of the Masters... And a damn fine watchmaker.

Name : Lord Charles Mandrake
Title (optional) : The Honey-Soaked Writer
Status : Person of Some Importance
Gender : Male
Height : 5'9
Body build : On the thinner side, though not by much, which is surprising given his predilection towards hedonist way of life and staying up all hours of the night writing. Of course, the dreams help with the writing.
Brief appearance : Charles could be considered handsome, if you looked past the, uh, "mild" honey addiction. With hair like blackened and burned straw, eyes the color of a bottled soul, and gloved hands perpetually ink-stained, he is the near definition of a bohemian.
Clothing preference : A battered grey suit, with silky white gloves, and a pair of rather stylish riding boots. Oh, and his deshriked mandrake MacGonald, named for his greatest literary rival, and good friend, James MacGonald.
6be8d849ad5c93e449cd7699e6159f59.jpg

Skill(s) : Persuasive, Watchful
Occupation : Bohemian, Author, Ex-Detective
Character strengths: Clever, Quick thinking, Steadfast, Subtle
Character flaws : Cowardly, Caring, Accidentally Manipulative, Melancholy, Honey Addict
Brief history: Once a rather infamous detective, Charles decided to give up the dangers of the streets for the comforts of writing about his experiences. This, of course, would lead to his eventual discovery of Prisoner's honey and the Bohemian way of life. Now he is a surprisingly well known author of penny-dreadful's, short stories, and one novel called Lifeberg Ho!, based on a famed zee-story. Lifeberg Ho! is often considered a critical failure, except among the bohemian and zailor communities.
