"Doing talking with the Resistance heroes is not my forte. Doing...Doing talking, yeah...."
All right, quick and dirty - the things I'm looking for, right now! If it hasn't been bumped in a while, it's probably not accurate. You can look at the tabs for the specifics of what I want. It's mostly fandom stuff because I am fandom trash and world-building, while I love it, is something I've been burned on too many times in trying to work with partners.
1. Don't God-Mod. In other words, don't make my character speak, don't make my character, don't make my character take damage, and don't control my character. If you want something to go a certain way for plot purposes, just PM me and ask. Usually, I accept "god-modding" during travel and the like. It is usually acceptable to assume movement if a character is already committed to the journey.
2. Please be able to play both genders, and play multiple roles. You will be expected to double-up with me, as I tend to get bored of single-pairing RPs quickly. Your main character(s) may be just male or just female, but I expect all the side characters and NPCs to have life and flavor, too.
3. On the note of characters: I will always play one female character. So, be aware of that. With that said, I usually also always play one male character, and I do MxM, MxF, and FxF pairings, though I prefer MxF.
4. 4. I only RP on threads, (or GDocs in rare cases), so no PM, kik, discord, e-mail, or other rps with me. So that I know you’ve read the rules this far, please tell me about your favorite food!
5. Please be able to write more than a couple of sentences as responses to me. I have tried to do “simple” RPs, but I end up not feeling motivated to respond or continue the RP. I will need you to be able to write a paragraph or two, each post, at least.
6. PM if you are interested. The only reason for you not to PM me is if you cannot do so due to the fact you haven't reached 24 hours/10 posts.
Guidelines:
1. I do not like to be hassled for posts. Especially if I have already posted that day or the day before. Do not bother me for posts until at least two days have passed. Otherwise, I will start to resent our RP and lose interest in it.
2. I enjoy OOC talk, however I will not respond to "hi" or "-poke-" or equivalents. Have substance to the chatter, even if it just asking "How are you?".
3. Do not bump our thread if I have not posted. I will not post out of spite. I have a problem with this, I acknowledge it, I'm not fixing it.
4. On that matter, please keep OOC to PMs and not on our IC thread. IC is for posting. If you have a question, concern, or comment, just shoot me a PM.
5. In general, I do not enjoy immediate romances or "slice-of-life" RPs, so do not come to me expecting I'll do either. I may make rare exceptions.
I want to double-up in the Sequel 'verse, or the Original 'verse. OCxCanon.
In the Sequel Verse, I'm looking for someone to play Poe Dameron or Finn for me. I've got a few OC ideas, from a Tarkin of Eriadu, a Senator of Coruscant, a Senator of Chandrila, an Admiral in the First Order, and a Knight of Ren. I'm open to playing most any character in the Sequel 'verse!
In the Original Verse, I'm looking for someone to play Amilyn Holdo. I understand she wasn't in the original movies, but I'm convinced she did work with the Rebel Alliance and I'd like to play in this where she does! Mostly looking to play a Tarkin OC in this, but could also play an Imperial Spy, Loyalty Officer, or X-Wing Pilot! I'm open to playing Luke, mostly, in this, as I like to keep Han and Leia canon.
I have a Bolton OC I'd love to play across either Margaery Tyrell or Oberyn Martell - potentially others (Sansa Stark, Yara Greyjoy, and Book!Euron Greyjoy are potential options). Mostly those two, as I love the idea of warmer people from warmer climates interacting with such a 'cold' character.
I'm open to playing many characters, though I am not willing to play Cersei or Jaime as a love interest, nor Petyr. It's another situation with Cersei and Jaime in that I see them as canon and could not accurately write them any other way. Petyr...I just don't like Petyr.
So I made the mistake of rewatching LoTR and I have a craving for a standard sort of fantasy quest plot to save the world. I'm not going to do any world-building here, as it's honestly draining and one of the main reasons I don't tend to do originals anymore since they, so often, fall through. However, the craving is here, and I want to do some fantash shenanigans in the vein of LoTRs! So that means, there's going to be lots of characters, and groups that branch off from the "main" one. There will be a "main" question, but also, sidequests. And there will be a magical item.
I do have some ideas for this, but I'd rather work with a partner to work out what I'm not certain of. If you look under the "World of Trianne", I hope that will give you some idea of what I'm capable of in getting things started.
Some of the themes I'd like to continue to keep in place:
1. Cursed magical item that must be destroyed.
2. Themes of Fate: It was fate that Aragorn would be king of Gondor, it was fate that Smeagol would be the one to destroy the ring, these kinds of things running through the narrative would be great.
3. Clear "bad" and "good". Minions and such can be questionable, but in spite of my love of GoT, Berserk, and Dark Souls, I want the stakes for the good guys high, and I want the evil obvious.
4. A large group that ends up splitting up.
I also did make a thread for it, so more details are here: Fantasy - LotR-Inspired Fantasy Craving
The World of Trianne
The world of Trianne has three major continents to it, with one almost entirely deserted of reasonable life forms.
The first continent, Monoregelles, is all under the rule of the royal family and has been for many centuries of their history. There are scattered cities across it, but all roads lead back to the capital city, Regelles.
The second continent, Plures, is made up of a multiplicity of cities and governmental styles. Petty wars over land, religion, or other issues arise frequently between the many locales.
The third continent’s history has been lost to time, though it is known as Rotrusca. Legends have risen up of it being a land either of great technology, or great magic, and that such power was what brought about its destruction. The truth is quite different – but we will get into that as we set the tale. What is known is that Rotrusca is covered in mist, and seems populated by shadowy beasts.
The Story
As with all great and powerful monarchies, the noble family of Regelles is looking at a civil war on the horizon. Their recent stance against Dreamers and Clerics has caused an outrage, as have the purges of them. This stance has come into play due to new findings about Rotrusca and what happened to it, as well as the belief in the Voice which has claimed these magics as anathema and against the natural order.
The Dreams of Dreamers compete with the Single Voice, and the Dreams of Dreamers are also viewed as the False Gods of the Clerics.
This has caused many Dreamers and Clerics to flee to Plures to find sanctuary, but some on Plures want them gone as well, adherents of the Voice, xenophobes, or those simply afraid of another catastrophe striking their land as it did Rotrusca.
The Echo Knights have been dispatched over the continent of Regelles to find and hunt down any Dreamers or Clerics.
Magic Types
Speakers: Speakers are the most common practitioners of magic, and while technically anyone can learn it, not all have the knack. Speakers, as the name implies, speak their magic into the world. Vibrations have been studied, and the proper words in the proper sequence with the right intonations, inflexions, and sometimes – hand or body gestures – can bring forth power. There are some Speakers known as Dancers, though these are rumors, supposed magical assassins who don’t need to speak at all to cast and use body movements to provide what is needed.
Clerics: Clerics receive their power from another source – many attribute it to a deity that has empowered a relic they keep close at hand. Most Clerics cannot cast at all without the relic nearby as a focusing tool, but miracles have been known to occur by those termed Saints. Clerics commonly need to speak their prayers or else deeply focus in silent, to bring these miracles into the world. It is usually not as varied as the Speakers magic.
Dreamers: Dreamers can be also Clerics or Speakers, but what is notable of Dreamers is that they can dream an entire creature into being to assist them. This Dream is supposedly unique to the Dreamer, and yet it seems some dreams are common. Dreams such as ‘Shiva’ and ‘Ifrit’ have been told through years. A Dreamer only has one Dream, but the Dream can shift a bit over the years, growing with their Dreamer.
Rotrusca: The Truth
Centuries ago, Rotrusca was a thriving empire that sought to expand beyond its continent. It had representation on the other two continents politically, it had trade relationships and merchants through many cities, and it had started to occupy islands nearby to establish colonies – and build a military presence. It had a system of two consuls, usually two Dreamers, though these were voted into their positions by the nobility of Rotrusca upon the death of one.
One Dreamer had a new Dream, unlike the stories told before. Imagery of it is found across the ruins of Rotrusca, though few have understood what it means for the Dream is depicted as little more than a bright star by the head of the Dreamer.
This Dream would come to be known as Polaris – a guiding light, aimed ever forward and towards a better future…for the Dreamer. Without consent and without question, Rotrusca was pulled into the realm of the Dreams, the continent itself seeming to become clouded, the shades of its citizens existing as nightmares. When such a shade dies, the citizen in the realm of Dreams, also, dies.
The Dreamer of Polaris, so known as the Lucid Dreamer, took over the realm. The Dreams were not prepared for the invasion, and so they were either shackled to servitude, or continue to jump from Dreamer to Dreamer, making new bonds in the hopes of avoiding the Lucid Dreamer – or finding a way to defeat them.
However, with each new Dreamer they bond themselves to, their memories of previous Dreamers and the Realm itself grow fainter. They become born anew in the mind of another Dreamer, and it becomes difficult to grasp at their goals.
Meanwhile, the Lucid Dreamer has noticed an increase in the deaths of those from Rotrusca who should be ageless in this realm. Determined to put an end to it, the Lucid Dreamer has decided it is time to return, and bring all into the fold of the Eternal Rotrusca.
The Story: Our Roles
This story will begin before Rotrusca’s return. It will begin with Echo Knights seeking a rumored Dreamer or Cleric in the kingdom of Monoregelles. These will be our main characters at the outset: At least one Knight, and one Dreamer/Cleric. Two other characters will need to be put in at the outset as MCs, but we can get into that as we discuss and work things out.
Generally speaking, I would like to keep this to a human cast, but if you have an epic idea for including another race either from the Final Fantasy series, or elsewhere, pitch it to me. I kind of like Viera and I’m even considering one as a Cleric, honestly, so…yeah.
Understand this: I’m not okay with “secrets” in character creation, so if you’re trying to bring in some epically powerful character who isn’t aware, you still have to tell me OOCly what’s in store in the future.
Ideally, we’ll work through some moral struggles and bond our party members. I would like to eventually have a party of 6 characters, so along the way, two more should be introduced. This could happen in Plures, or one could be an escaped Rotruscan who wants to stand against the Lucid Dreamer.
There is certainly more to flesh out, too – about the Voice, about the source of the Cleric’s powers, and things like that. Obviously, the Lucid Dreamer is one of the major antagonists, and the Voice Pontiff is likely another. They could join forces (the Lucid Dreamer presents as a Prophet), or they could even become enemies. I’m certainly game for many different ways this could go, but this is the plot, this is the story, and this is the background I have for it.
