Appearance: 4’10 in human form her hair is naturally green, but most people assume it’s fake. While she is small in stature, she is very strong and has a very mean right hook.

Personality: Vivian is a guarded introvert. She has no problem talking with others but finds large social settings to be very draining and prefers one on one interactions, she has had panic attacks before in overly crowded spaces but it’s been a while since that happened. She doesn’t trust humans and if she feels like one is trying to get close to her she will lash out in an attempt to distance them. She is very artistic and enjoys painting and going to different types of art museums. She also has a secret love for classic rock.

History: Vivian got lost from her original clan when she was 12 and stayed in the shallows of crystal cove. When the clan came to crystal cove looking for a new home she was happy to show them the territory so she could join her own clan.

Appearance: 6’2” in human form 12’ in length in mermaid form. He has many scars on his body and his left eye is blind his other eye is hazel blue. His hair is short in his mermaid form as well.

Personality: Erik can seem cold and harsh as a strict rule enforcer but he’s loving towards all the mermaids under is command and has nothing but their welfare in mind. He is strict and stubborn but has a soft spot for outsiders who seek a new home amongst his clan and those who are already a part of his clan viewing them as one big happy family. He finds being a leader to sometimes be a very lonely role since he is the one enforcing the law. He also only eats meat no veggies don’t try to make him eat healthy. He will fight you for a steak.

History: Erik has been in the same clan since he was born. After they were driven out of their old home 8 years ago he lost his left eyesight fighting for his family’s right to stay. He witnessed a lot of the old clans demise and it still haunts him. He distrusts and dislikes humans believing their only interest in mermaids is to capture or harm them for research or for fun. He is working as the sheriff of crystal cove to keep an eye on the clans members and the humans.

Personality: Elaine is bubbly and friendly with everyone she meets, she’s not shy at all and tends to be a very optimistic person. She believes in the possibility of mermaids and wants to be a marine biologist once she finishes her school. She is very curious about life, and is generally nosy. She doesn’t know how to take no for an answer and is fine going behind someone’s back in the pursuit of knowledge.

History: Elaine grew up in New York City and fell in love with the ocean while going on an aquarium tour. Against the wishes of her family she moved to crystal cove recently and is still learning her way around the town. Her family doesn’t approve of her school and career choice and worry that she’s wasting her life on a dream job with little pay, causing them to have a very strained and distant relationship. She works as a marine animal rescue/rehabilitator out of her home, but dit doesn’t pay well so she is currently looking for another job.

weapons: - she keeps a knife she found and tinkered with herself, under the front counter of her op shop, in a little easily accessible shelf she installed herself. on day's she has bad feelings, she will take it with her and keep it on her person until she returns it again when opening - there is plenty she can use as a weapon, should anyone make trouble in the shop - under the water, her elongated, dark, webbed hands do pack a pretty mean swipe. they aren't extremely sharp though and are in fact pretty blunt, but she has used them to effect before.

- she has a very strong sense of family and comradery. since having the clan, she has felt a constant love. almost everything she does, she does for the sake of her clan
- poe thrives in still and comfortable waters. the less current, the better her ability to swim and explore
- she has experienced any troubles, all of which she knows, owe to her character. she is proud of who she is, and despite her demons, remains ever optimistic about life
weaknesses:
- due to physical form, married with a lack of self-efficacy, poe is not a strong swimmer in the ocean. much more often than not, the currents and waves are too strong for her to handle. she can survive just fine, but prefers not to be left alone, should she be carried away~
- experiencing the same horrors that drove her from her home, here in Crystal Cove. if she ever had to face monsters like those again, she might just fade away into nothing

general: below the surface, poe's ivory hair and olive skin almost seem to shimmer. her eyes are changed from dark chocolate to bright silver, with a deep black iris. when she grows angry, feels threatened or see's present danger, her black irises expand to fill her eyes entirely. her tail is longer than her body, decorated with black, bright orange, faded blue and white to create a tiger-like pattern all the way down to the tip of her tail. unlike most others, her tail is quite small. what she lacks in width, she makes up for in length, beauty, and determination. she has quite a few added feathery fins. those along and at the end of her tail are much sturdier and help with her swimming ability, than those streaming from her forearms. her tail fins are also lined with a striking luminescence, which become more apparent, the darker the body of water. her ivory hair becomes extremely silky, and she swears it grows longer and paler too. you can always expect there to be kelp or some other kind of vegetation in her hair, especially after she has spent some time exploring the "depths"

general: poe is average in size, with a toned body set in a slim hourglass shape. she works out regularly, besides keeping herself busy gathering for the clan. she has always naturally been on the smaller side too. on the surface, poe's hair is completely ivory [ignore half style in photo] soft to the touch, though not super silky. it has volume~ her eyes are a deep chocolate, save for when she is very angry or extremely threatened, in which case her iris' expand the entirety of her eyes. she has to do a real good job of keeping herself hidden if it ever happens. it's probably a great part of the reason she likes to maintain a sort of "people are just people and nothing is gonna ruin my happiness" attitude. as much as she fantasizes, she isn't one to get violent at all.

Relationships: Morgan and Poe are roomies, as well as best friends. Basically, anyone who messes with Poe has to deal with a very angry Moray. Best to just play nice.
Appearance:
Morgan is fairly small in her human form (5'4") but while in the ocean she is a very large Moray Eel (or in her semi-morphed form shown above). Her eyes are a deep blue that at times appears nearly black, and she pretty much never smiles. Unless she's smirking...if that counts as a smile.

Personality: Cold, detached, sarcastic, loyal, protective, intelligent, excellent liar, distrustful

History: Morgan doesn't talk about it. All anyone really knows about her is that she grew up on the Australian Coast, but moved to her current home about two years ago.

Job/Spot in clan: Protector, Hunter, bartender at local club

Other: Morgan loves music, and will gut you if you so much as breath near her guitar. She has the same mindset about her knife collection, which is so large and varied that it honestly frightens some people. She sings and writes her own music, but rarely allows anyone to listen.

Appearance: As a human she is 5'4 and has a slim build. She keeps her brunette hair a short bob with bangs.

Personality: Atalanta is all bark, while she may talk a big game at times she's fairly harmless. Not to say she wont fight back if she's backed into a corner but she'll just try to intimate people into not messing with her. While she puts up a cold front she is a true sweet heart and loves nothing more than being near her close friends, and because of her temperament is considered a mama bear to her friends. She's a night owl and often goes out at night to go explore.

History: Atalanta was born alone on the coast of Cali. Never knowing her family she wandered till she found this clan. While she has no idea what had happened to her blood family she considers this family her home. As for her opinion of human's she's weary of them but holds no strong opinion.

Special skills/abilities: She can glow in the dark (not at will), lightning powers that she can direct decently well. Because jellyfish can actually heal their own wounds very efficiently, it’s given her a great understanding of wound care.

Appearance: Light blue tinted skin and darker blue hair. Her hair is extremely wavy and flowing, kept under a veil resembling the top of a Medusa jellyfish. Her tail looks more like an extremely ruffled dress, going up to her chest where fades off into her skin.

In her human form, she often wears flowing dresses and is around 5’2

Personality: She’s very passive, only seeking to help and follow. She doesn’t often speak to others for no reason, only when she has something to say. That isn’t to say that she doesn’t enjoy conversation, she just doesn’t see a point as she feels like she’d be wasting the other person’s time. She trusts her clan more than anything, willing to put her life on the line for them even though she can’t really fight.

Wishes she was a bit more warm and motherly to the others. Often stumbles over herself and is easily startled. She could also be easily manipulated due to her blind loyalty. Extremely empathetic, to the point where it can extremely crippling.

History: Born to a small, dwindling clan, she found herself surrounded by death at a young age. The elders in her clan perished, leaving the younger in a state of panic. Seeing the death of the elders made Marisol want to be able to heal her fellow mermaids, causing her to learn more about the art of healing. Due to a lot of arguing, her clan was divided and she was left alone where she then found the bay clan.

Other: If I were to associate her with an instrument or sound, it would probably be bells and chimes!

Appearance: Short, kind of messy, blonde hair. Pretty skinny, standing at around 5’4. They have pale skin from being indoors often. Bright, green eyes.


Personality: Very laid back, very curious and open to new things. Has trouble paying attention if they aren’t super interested in what the other person has to say. Easily irritable. Can be pretty spacy.


History: Finley was always fascinated with mythology, even when they were a young kid they loved hearing fairy tales and urban legends. They spent their childhood reading about mythology, fairy tales, and urban legends in the school library. Having just graduated from high school, they live in a small apartment by themselves working at the library with a lack of certainty of what they want to do with their life.

Appearance: As a mermaid she’s of average size. She has bright blue hair and a magnificent red and white striped tail that extend up her body and across her face. She has horns on top of her head that come out when she's using her ability.
In human form she is platinum blonde tipped blue with bright blue eyes and tends to dress in plain clothes. She’s about 5’3 and 110 pounds.

Personality: Poison runs through Luci’s blood and she’s very aware of it. She pines to prove she’s good while secretly holding back that something evil lurks inside her. She’s easygoing and wicked smart but she can’t help but feel out of control of who she might become. She worries a lot about how others see her. Her mind is very dark and twisty so she’s very focused on health as a postive way to relate with others.

History: Luci was born into a large family of healers, in a strict clan known for it’s peacefulness and simple living. From a young age she was using her abilities to cause conflict in her family which led to her being cast out.

Special skills/abilities: Lottie carries nearly everything in her bag from little snacks and pens to first aid and socks. It’s pretty heavy, but she barely notices it anymore.

Appearance: Lottie stands at a height of 5’ 3’’ with most of her weight on her hips. She doesn’t exercise often and horrible at any physical activity. Also, her eyes are brown and her ginger hair gets in the way quite often since it’s so frizzy. You do not want to see her in the morning, she looks like a lion (rawr).

Personality: Lottie is a hoarder. She’s a hoarder of possessions, and she’s a hoarder of memories. That’s why she loves photography so much- to capture a single moment of beauty and mysteries in a single shot. Her life is all about finding the beauty and positivity in the world. (She’s not a hippie I swear). It is very hard to make her truly depressed unless you like… kill her fish or something. However, Lottie craves the approval of others and is prone to exaggerating the truth and telling little white lies to get it. Something she can’t lie about, though, is her qualms about the creatures in the ocean. She isn’t fond of things she doesn’t understand and therefore believes the myths and legends of the small town as just that- stories.

History: Lottie grew up in a nearby town. She was fortunate to have supportive parents that approve of her choice in pursuing photography, but they were suffocating. As soon as she turned 18, Lottie moved away for college. After the blurry four years of partying and studying, she found a picturesque little town called Crystal Cove and decided to live on her own for a little while longer.

Job: Freelance photographer and part-time waitress at a local restaurant called “Get Hooked!”

Other: Lottie has a Youtube channel. It’s not big, she only posts for herself. But her content consists of daily vlogs and documentations of her messing around with friends.

Objects/ Weapons: She carries a lot in her everyday bag, but as for weapons, she doesn’t carry anything except for pepper spray. She does carry a pair of craft scissors though. Careful- they’re sharp.

Special Skills and Abilities: He has limited general electrical engineering experience, but very experienced with maintenance and modification of arcade cabinets. He's a great arcade game player, but he's particularly good at his favorite game, Pac-Man. He has gotten to the Pac-Man kill-screen before (Though his Dad doesn't believe him). He is a pretty fast runner, but never worked up the courage to join track in high school.

Appearance: He stands 6 foot exactly with his lanky frame. His hair is often messy, never really caring much about keeping it in perfect position. His favorite things to wear are large t-shirts and baggy sweatshirts.

Personality: Though he wouldn't exactly consider himself an introvert, Dennis prefers things peaceful and quiet. He'd love to spend a quiet night at the arcade over a wild party any day. His time is pretty well-scheduled, and any time there's a deviation from that, his anxiety tends to flare up. He does scare easily, and hates it. He's not a big horror fan. He does have a developed sense of empathy despite a lack of strong social interaction. He keeps it a secret, but he often feels bad about being directionless in life.

History: Dennis was never the most ambitious kid, never really thinking about what would come after school. His mother left him at an early age, leaving his father to raise him alone. It was difficult at times, but the pair grew very close over the years. After graduating high school, Dennis kept right on working at the arcade his father owned, Redding Arcade. It stood right next to the boardwalk, and was a popular place for the town's youth that were tired of the beach as well as tourists. Still, arcades aren't the most profitable venture, so it always seems like the place is on the verge of closing. Dennis isn't sure what he would do if that happens.

Job: Pretty much runs Redding Arcade, works odd jobs occasionally

Objects and weapons: Carries his phone and wallet on him. Has several tools for working on electrical equipment, but keeps them in the back of the arcade. Has a trusty broom that keeps the arcade clean, and he also used it to slay a particularly aggressive mouse once (an act which made him feel very guilty for the rest of the day).

To his nephew and other family members, he is a kind, caring individual who would always put the needs of his family before himself.

History: Irwin Andersson is a cryptozoologist who has moved to Crystal Cover over a decade ago with his nephew. He is a member of the International Union of Cryptozoologists, an organization based in Geneva, Switzerland that serves as a fraternal order for various cryptozoologists from around the world. He arrived in town due to being drawn by its legends, not of mermaids, however, but of a sea serpent named The Cove Dweller, which some residents claim to live in the deepest parts of the Abyss. He has been spending the past decade trying to gather evidence of this creature's existence, unaware of the mermaids that live among him.

Unlike the stereotypical jock, Pat is not a bully but is actually one of the nicer guys around town. While not a bully, Pat does have a bad temper and will lash out at anything that angers him. Unfortunately, due to generally neglecting his studies growing up, Pat is not the brightest bulb in the socket and can be misleading or deceived quite easily.

History: Pat Andersson is Irwin Andersson's nephew. Orphaned at an early age, Pat spent the majority of his life living with his "eccentric" Uncle. When he was 12, he moved to Crystal Cove alongside his Uncle, who was on a quest to find The Cove Dweller and stayed for the past 12 years. During his time in Crystal Cove High, Pat reached his high-point, being a star member of both the football and weight lifting team. During his senior year, he earned an athletic scholarship, but unfortunately chose a University he had no transportation to get to. Losing his chance to go to college, Pat is currently working a Pirate Pete's Taco Truck hoping to turn his life around one day.

History:
James started writing at a young age, and self-published his first work at the age of 17. The story became a success, and his works achieved a cult following. Since then, he's devoted his life to writing, publishing 5 more books and various short stories. However, after working on his writing mind numbingly, he found himself tired, sheltered, unmotivated, uninspired, and in need for something more. So, he moved to Crystal Cove, hoping it's beautiful sights and interesting locale would give him inspiration. He got a job at a grocery store, hoping it would help him in becoming more social.

History: He spent his young life in the deep with his mother, who was a huge hippy. He never knew his father, according to his mom he was a gift from the universe after spending a night with a handsome man. Despite some people desire to find their missing parent he never really experienced that and rather enjoyed his mother strange way of talking and philosophy. When he became a young teenager she vanished, his mother always told him how she was a wanderer and he knew one day they’d go their separate ways. He’s never held it against her, but he decided he’d never leave without saying goodbye to his friends and family in the future. He found himself lonely and decided to come to the surface. The humans fascinated him and he traveled along the coast for many years before settling in the crystal cove clan. During his travels he stopped at a few places and picked up a midwifes license. He’s delivered quite a few babies and considers it his calling.

History: Emillia was born into a family with an older brother and young parents. She was born with sight, but it didn’t last and by the time she was twelve it was gone as a result of a degenerative disease. Her brother moved out of the house once he reached college to crystal cove for work and his degree. Not long after he left their parents divorced as the result of affairs by both parents, her mother maintained custody of her. She did not take the divorce well and ended up developing a reliance on alchohol and becoming controlling and abusive towards Emillia. Her brother came to visit and was shocked by the situation, but was powerless to help at the time. Emillia considered this a betrayal for a long time and never really got over her brother leaving her. Her brother showed up the day of her 18th birthday had her pack her bags and took her with him when he left. She’s lived with him ever since and their relationship has recovered, but remained somewhat strained.
Job: she works at the boardwalk as a fortune teller, she uses tarot cards and palm readings. The tarot cards have small notches etched into them so she can feel which cards they are, but it isn't visible to the naked eye without a flashlight.
Other: When she’s not making her brothers life difficult she enjoys various arts and crafts and is gifted with thrown pottery.

History: Clauds parents were highschool sweethearts whine he idolized growing up. His sister was born when he was around 5 and he was always pretty close with her. When he reached college he left home to become and electrician funded by his grandparents on his fathers side. Unbeknownst you’re him his parents had marital issues and near the end of their relationship were constantly involved in affairs. When they divorced he was devastated when they divorced but was tied down by host studies and couldn’t come see them until a few months later. He found both parents had spiraled with his father involved in illegal drugs and his mother a disengaged alcoholic who was either neglecting or berating Emillia. He initially planned to call the police but his mother warned him that Emillia would experience things far worse in the state foster system and he wouldn’t be allowed to take custody of her. Heartbroken he returned to crystal cove and dropped out of college, instead enrolling in the police program. He did extremely well as a police officer and had finished enough of his college studies that he knew his way around electrical issues. He found himself becoming a much loved member of the community as a local cop and a handyman. He counted down the days when his sister would be of age to legally leave home and went to get her the day of. Unfortunately he found the years had taken a toll on her and she was bitter towards him and regarded him as someone who’d abandoned her. He suffered more heartbreak over their crumbled relationship and had been trying to be the best older brother to her he can be.

History: Bonnie's family frequently migrated from island to island when she was younger looking for work for her father, as he did not let my mother work. Times were never easy no matter where they went, and they always had to hide what they were. Eventually, her parents pushed me to follow the clan rules and reproduce the next generation as she has no children you can tell how that went. She traveled island to island alone trying to make life a little easier, which was hopeless until she found Crystal cove.

Special skills/abilities: No one is entirely certain why, but being Albino (most mermaids born this way are stillborn) has gifted Moon with incredible anti-aging properties. That, coupled with her knowledge in the Ancient Ways, have given her the body of a young woman, even though she has lived well beyond the normal lifespan of one of her kind (Sea Snakes, not Mermaids (some can live practically forever)). Being known in the Ancient Ways has also gifted Moon with the gift of Sight (auras mostly, but also a rare glimpse of what is to come). If she tries very, very hard, she can occasionally help persuade humans to forget they have seen something or walk the other way. This particular trick, though, tends to send her into a minor coma for several days. Do not recommend. Moonscale can also sense things about sea creatures, such as whether they are injured or frightened. This gift, however, isn't something she considered very abnormal - she insists any mermaid could do it if willing to learn.

Personality: Moon may be older than dirt, but she's one of the sweetest people you can ever hope to meet. She absolutely abhors violence of any type and is a strong believer in unity between merfolk and humans. She isn't what anyone would call normal, though. From her manner of speech to the way she dresses (think fae or occult), Moon constantly draws stares wherever she goes. She doesn't seem to mind, though.

History: Moonscale was born during a time when Humans hunted merfolk as monsters and demons. It was an extremely dangerous time, and humans were despised and feared by all merfolk. When Moon was born into an ancient clan of Serpents, her family was horrified to witness that she was an Albino. The laws of their people were binding, and it was decided that she would only bring disaster upon the clan. The moment she was old enough to survive without her mother, the child was abandoned to the sea, where she was found and adopted by The Sea Witch - an ancient mermaid said to have immortality and who was rumored to hold the secrets of the seas in her mind. The Witch, whose name was actually Morgana, raised her daughter in love and taught her all that she knew of the ocean and the inner workings of the tides. The two found joy in the discovery that they both seemed cursed with long life, and vowed to spend their many days healing others and maintaining peace. They did so for many years, up until Morgana was killed by humans seeking her powers. Moonscale grieved for a hundred days and nights, barely eating or sleeping. However, her gift of sight permitted her a vision of her own future - serving as a leader, a mother to a clan of outcasts. In her heart, Moonscale could sense the tides of fate begin to surge around her, and she followed her heart all the way to Crystal Cove.

He will roll with whatever lie if caught doing dumb stuff with his friends, no matter how ridiculous. Absolutely ride or die. Kai is very charismatic, easy to smile and laugh. He is very quick to make jokes to ease awkward or tense situations, mostly at his own expense, and will absolutely make jokes about his disability. If it bothers him, he does not show it in any way. He does not take things personally and does not hold grudges or take revenge. He is very level-headed and very hard to make upset. However, one thing that is sure to rile him up is the poor treatment of others, especially his friends and family. He is very kind and will go out of his way to help anyone in need, even though he is often turned down due to his disability.
  
  Appearance: Typical. Surfer. Dude. He checks all the boxes. The sun-kissed skin, the golden beach waves, the stormy eyes, the nice body, the puka shell necklace, the charming smile, and the lack of a proper shirt. However, he is missing one key component of being a surfer dude: the lower half of his legs. It’s what most people notice immediately. After all, it is rather hard to miss the obnoxiously colored wheelchair with the pirate flag, bicycle bell, and a rack to hold his surfboard.
  
  History: Kai was born and raised in Crystal Cove to a single mother, who taught him to swim before he could walk and how to surf only shortly after. In school, he was captain of the swim team and a local star of the surfing team. When Pat moved to town, the two became fast friends and have been best friends ever since. With his good grades, Kai was able to get a small academic scholarship, but he chose to stay in Crystal Cove instead to help his mom run the Siren’s Surf (and maybe partially to make his best friend feel a little better about not being able to go to college). Even after school, he continued to compete in surfing tournaments, his trophies taking up a wall of his mom’s shop. However, everything changed at the last March of the Mermaids.
  Surfing alone far out to sea, Kai experienced a wipeout. While trying to get back to his board, a drunken tourist sped too close on a motorboat, not even noticing the surfer. Kai’s legs were cut up badly by the boat’s motor, and he lost a lot of blood. Struggling to stay conscious, he tried desperately to reach his board, despite his agonizing pain. He swears that the last thing he saw before slipping under the waves and out of consciousness was an angel.
  Kai woke on the beach, his legs bandaged by seaweed, his board at his side. He could hear people calling his name, but his eyes were instead on the water as he saw the angel once more disappear beneath the waves.
  After being found and taken to the hospital, it was determined that the lower half of his legs had to be amputated. For a whole week, he did not say anything to anyone. His mom and friends worried that he would never be the same again. Then, he cracked his sly smile, made a joke about getting back on his feet, and seemed to be his old self again.
  Since then, he has worked hard with a physical therapist to get back onto his board. He never really told anyone about being saved by his angel, but every day, he goes out on his surfboard looking for her.

  Personality: Blake is absolutely a fish out of water and way out of her depth. The clan that she was born into was nothing like the one she struggles to be a part of now, and her contact with humans had been very minimal before. She is trying her best to be a part of the family, but she does not think she is doing a good job of it. While Blake is very sweet, her appearance and her very presence are unnerving to say the least. She is very awkward in social situations, so this is often misinterpreted the wrong way. She’s very aware of this fact, but when she tries to make it better, she just ends up making things worse. This has caused her to become extremely self-conscious and unsure of herself. She constantly doubts herself and hesitates to make decisions or act on her thoughts. She does not think that she is good enough for anything and will always put everything else before herself.
  
  
  Appearance:
  Blake is absolutely an unsettling sight. In her mermaid form, her features are sharp and cutting. Her teeth are jagged razors, barely concealed behind her thin dark lips. Her long white hair glows unnaturally with the lure that extends from her forehead, contrasting with her dark scales. Her nails are long and pointed, resembling black claws. Quill-like protrusions extend from her tail, creating a natural barrier against those that dare to get too close. Her cloudy eyes are piercing and seem to see through one’s very soul.
  Her human form seems to try to conceal her more unnerving traits. Her features are rounder and softer. Her bio-luminescent spots are freckles. Her lips are fuller, able to hide her sharp teeth so long as she keeps her mouth closed. However, what does not help her image whatsoever is the fact that she is 6’1”, fairly muscular, dresses almost exclusively in black and white, never removes her sunglasses, and does not smile or speak.
  
  No matter how much the poor girl wishes she could disappear into the background, she absolutely cannot. Blake is a deep sea predator and it is painfully obvious.
  
  
  
  History: Her first home was among the darkness of the Abyss. It was tough. Resources were scarce. Her parents were gone by the time she turned three, though she never found out what had happened to them. Starved to death, eaten by a bigger predator, escaped to find a better life. After that, it was just her and her older sister, Nyx. Nyx was a lot of things her little sister wasn’t and did a lot of things that she thought was necessary to survive. Blake, for the most part, never argued with her, knowing that her sister was only doing what she thought she had to. Until Nyx rose to the position of clan leader. Until she gathered together a ruthless army to expand their territory and resources. Until she killed indiscriminately to claim domination over others. Blake did not agree with this. She tried to reason with her sister. The clan was okay now. They had enough resources to survive. They didn’t need anything more. Nyx disagreed. She said that surviving was not a way to live, and all these other clans had too much while they never had enough. When Nyx launched the attack on the Bay Clan, Blake stood up to her and used her attraction power for the last time, allowing some of the clan to get away. Unable to bring herself to kill her little sister, Nyx marked her as a traitor and banished her from the clan. Alone, she wandered for years, seeing sunlight and humans for the first time, and she found that she loved both of those things. She did not, however, like the loneliness she felt. She wanted to be part of a clan again, part of a family again. Less than a year ago, she got the chance. She is still not sure how, but Moon found her and asked her to join the clan that she had helped to escape from her sister. She accepted immediately and has been trying to find her place in the clan ever since.

  Personality:
  Gill is the walking example of vast differences between Book Smart and Street Smart. This innocent little bean does not have much common sense. Coupled with the fact that he is pretty forgetful, scattered, naïve, and oblivious, he seems almost like a child. However, Gill is very intelligent, always reading, asking questions, and generally is just very curious. Some people would call him obsessed with human culture and if he had a long enough attention span, he would probably be in school to be an anthropologist. He treasures things made by humans, even things most would consider to be junk, so he has become somewhat of a hoarder, though he calls himself a “collector”. He is the poster boy of the opposite of minimalism. He also loves to work with his hands and do arts and crafts, so when he feels like he is running out room to store more of his “collection”, he will take random objects and craft them into something he can sell at the Attic, like jewelry or art. Gill has very sharp eyesight and seems to notice everything and nothing at the same time. At any given time, he can produce worthless details and snippets of useless knowledge like what earrings Morgan had on the Tuesday before last or could quote the first page of the novelization of Gilligan’s Island or could list all of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, but will forget what he had for breakfast or even if he had breakfast that day.
  
  
  Appearance:
  As a species that normally glides on their back at the surface, Gill’s mermaid form is colored specially to help protect him from predators that may attach from above and below. While his front is blue, black, and white to blend in with the water, his back is completely silver-grey to mimic the sunlight reflecting on the ocean’s surface when viewed upwards underwater. His unique coloration is also used to reflect harmful UV rays. In addition to his arms and tail, he has five wing-like appendages to help him drift along. Short horns rest on his head, but most do not notice them among his shaggy blue hair. He is rather big for his species as he is 5’ long while the average for the rest of his kind is around 4’2”.
  
  As a human, he stands taller than his mermaid form at 5’5”. His blue hair looks black in this form, and it is only in the light of the sun that people realize it is actually just very dark blue. His eyes are still a piercing blue, stunning to some and intense to others. His clothes are all from the thrift store, preferring donated or found clothing to brand new. He usually goes barefoot, but when he does wear shoes, there is a good chance he will take them off at some point and forget where he put them. He will on occasion wear the jewelry he has found or made, but does not do so often because he kept losing them.
  
  History:
  Gill and his family were members of the original Bay Clan. When forced out of their home, he got separated from his parents. Unable to find them, he stayed at the place where he had lost them, a shipwreck, far from any land, and mostly kept company with the fish that shared his new home. He grew up surrounded by things left behind by humans, but had rarely seen them until eight years later when divers came to explore the wreck. He kept hidden as they ventured around the ship, but when night fell and the boat above did not leave, Gill snuck aboard. The humans stayed for a couple of weeks, living in the houseboat above while frequently diving down to the ship below. They began to notice that things would go missing, but explained it away as misplacing things or the sun getting to them. It was here that Gill really began his passion about humans, especially for books. However, he did realize very quickly that books were not meant for mermaids as he had tried to bring them back down with him. When the humans were finished with their trip, Gill followed them. The boat was much faster than he was, so he lost it very quickly, but he kept heading in the direction they had left, knowing that humans had to be somewhere. And that somewhere is where he wanted to be.

  Abilities/Magic:
  
  ~ While beautiful, he can be dangerous to touch in his mermaid form as he carries the potent venom of other species, concentrated by his body’s unique defense system. This is described as mind-numbing pain, with many passing out from it, and always being left with red whip-like welts. This is something he can control to a degree as he can only get the venom from the venomous fish he eats. However, he can only sting indiscriminately and with full force in his mermaid form. In his human form, however, he can control when and who he stings and can adjust the potency of the venom with enough concentration (which he is not very good with).

  ~ Cannot get a sunburn or a sun stroke.

History: Losing her birth clan, she found three other lonesome mermaids, the four forming their own clan and living together for years and growing close. It all changed so quickly, Marcy (manta ray) and Nadia (narwhal) killed by a rival clan, Fiona (octopus) captured by the same clan. Her heart crushed, in utter despair, Delphine felt she had no chance at rescuing Fiona and left as far away as she could go. She tried to live on her own, but her instincts told her to find a new home. The need grew stronger and stronger, before she found her current clan. While she feels satisfied being around other merfolk, she refuses to let herself get close in case they get hurt.

Also, the whiskers she uses to detect prey underwater are tucked tightly into the sides of her mouth in her human form, and can sometimes be seen for brief flashes of time. No one has had the guts to say anything about them. She is petite on land, and very slender, with an acrobats body.
Personality:
Dahlia is a very manipulative person, and has been since she was a child. After suffering a decade of severe abuse, adapted to become a bit of a chameleon. Depending on where she is, and with whom, Dahlia can be as sweet as honey or as vicious as a viper. She never really lets people in, too terrified of being abused or used again. She craves power and respect, but deep down she is desperate for someone to be herself with, even though she isn't even sure who that is anymore.
History:
Dahlia spent the first 10 years of her life as an orphan after her parents abandoned her in infancy. She was found and brought up by another Bobbit Shifter, a merman called Jackel. Jackel used his young charge to catch him prey and forced her to hurt or even kill others for him, after he was injured in a fight with a shark. For years he beat and mentally abused her, until she finally snapped at 10 and killed him to end her torment. Afterwards, she lived on her own for about 6 years until meeting up with her current clan. After years of clawing and manipulating, she's made herself one of the most respected and feared members of the clan. However, she won't stop until she's Leader, and the Crystal Bay cowards surrender their territory.

Other: Bobbit Worms are born without eyes, so Dahlia has never seen anything. Despite this, she claims that her favorite color is red and refuses to hear anyone's arguments about it. To her, color is a concept, a feeling. Most things are. Of course, she doesn't really tell anyone how she feels about color or sight because that would mean letting someone get close enough to ask those sorts of questions.

Fun Facts! : Bobbit Worms can grow the lengths of 10 feet! They burrow into the sand until only their heads are near the surface to wait for prey, which they grab with their pinchers and drag down into the ground to be eaten! A lover of wine and great food, he also can't resist a good spirit or Irish ale. Great interest in animals, he made sketches, and does creative things whenever he can, even playing instruments when he's alone. He is not too fond of being too close to anyone, and he's excellent at keeping secrets and stealing some little things, and even decrypted some puzzles whenever he can. She changes her personality towards just about everyone depending on whether she wants to kill them or not. She views mermaids from outside of her clan as weaklings and an enemy but she is fiercely loyal to Dahlia. Her loyalty to her is probably the closest thing she’s ever felt to love and she would follow her to the end of the earth. Killing makes her feel powerful whether it’s a human or an animal, it’s what she enjoys and she thinks she’s pretty good at it.



History: Octi was born into her clan and has stayed with it her whole life. She’s killed multiple sailors and lovingly remembers all of their names, she’s killed many mermaids too but they mean nothing to her. She’s not the strongest in combat but that’s not too important because as long as she can bite you, you’ll most likely die anyways.
