Jimbo eyed the weapon that the Russian unveiled with greedy speculation. It was a very pretty weapon, and it was VERY big. Jimbo liked the idea of a giant gun that could fire a net and projectile that was "unbreakable". But he had is skepticism on just how "unbreakable" this device was. He wasn't the only one either, as Beth and Totus chimed in with their own questions about the weapon obviously trying to coax some more info out of them. Jimbo approved, he could see their tactic to try and rile the seller up and get more info out of them, so he lumbered back over towards Duik, Xiao and Simon and placed the canon back in its crate as he watched from afar. He let his gaze drift over the other presenters and it landed on the pair that were sitting on the crate. The komodo dragon was still eyeing the vulture from its new perch, thick saliva dripping from his jowls. Jimbo eyed the crate that the pair sat on and then made an audible scoffing noise to try and draw their attention.
"I'd say, the Russian has me beat on size, but my canon could toss that over sized fishing net like a piece of paper. What have you got to show off?"
Taking a tip from Beth and Totus on being course with this particular group to get answers, Jimbo's subtly for his prodding was slight.

Simon had been keeping his eye peeled for the shadowy figure that had moved when they had arrived, but so far nothing had show back up. About the time that the Russian stepped up to deliver his own sales pitch, he had moved on to keep an eye on the other sellers. When he saw the net machine, Simon's brow furrowed. He glanced at Amber, and he could tell that she was studying particularly hard on the weapon and its sellers. It took him a few more minutes, and a few more glances around the room, but eventually he came to the same conclusion that was etched on her face. Feral was after something very large. Simon swallowed a bit as he felt the repressed memories from Singapore begin to resurface. He closed his eyes for a moment before taking a short step back and turning slightly towards the side of his head that his ear piece rested in. He pressed it lightly with his pointer and index finger, still trying to maintain his secret service-esk persona.
"Cal, hows everything on the south end? Any red flags?"

Falarion grinned at Calista when she complained about either of them hitting their heads again. "Ye of little faith," he said while moving to sit down beside her chair. Since he was an unusually tall canine, he could sit only a few inches lower than where Calista was on her chair.

He was not feeling near a hundred percent, but he certainly was feeling better after having gotten a little rest. He was certain that one more quality nap would kick the rest of his symptoms to the curb.

Just as Falarion let out a low yawn, Calista pulled up the visuals of the teams and even was able to pull up what everyone was saying. He stopped mid-yawn and perked up his ears to look at what was going on. As he did so, the rest of his wrappings around his head finally came loose and fell at his paws. Surprised, he glanced down at the wrappings, but decided that his head was not aching as much anymore.

Feeling someone petting his back, Falarion glanced back briefly to see Barry sitting on the edge of the bed nearby. Falarion gave him a happy yip before hearing Calista's question. Tilting his head to the side with a floppy ear, Falarion appeared to contemplate this for a moment.
"I don't know, to be honest. I guess maybe some food would be nice. Maybe we could get some fun snacks while we're stuck here? Uh...room service?"

Leandra eagerly trailed after Alec, matching his excitement each time he found a new clue. "We've found their trail! We must be so close now!"

Luness quietly chided Leandra, though, saying, "Dear, we spent a lot of time with the whales earlier. Don't get your hopes up so early on in the investigation. We may have to travel further or to another location to actually find them."

Hearing this, Leandra deflated slightly and replied defensively, "Yeah, I knew that."

Just then, Alec asked for a light source and Leandra was grinning once more. "Oh, you know it!"

Luness briefly flew from Leandra's shoulder to Alec's and was mindful to not grip him too tightly since her talons were fairly sharp. "I believe you called for me, dear."
She hummed lightly, as she began to slowly glow from a mellow orange to the equivalent of an oil lamp light source. Alec would be able to see several feet around himself now, minus what small part his head would be blocking at an angle.

His organisation? Quirking a slight brow, Xiao Hui could only shake her head, sighing exasperatedly in agreement to the Italian's word. "Oh? You're not here as a benefactor? I would have assume such due to your expensive taste." She commented briefly before zipping her lips as she stood taller and upright. Jimbo was presenting the weapon first to those in the warehouse and Xiao Hui couldn't help but feel a sense of pride. Taking a moment to observe the reactions of the Ferals, Xiao Hui made a mental note as she notice the impressed expression on the feline's faces. But, at seeing the Russian's annoyed expression and need to show-off, Xiao Hui could only click her tongue.

Taking a slight closer look at the model, Xiao Hui examined it to herself before hearing Beth, Totus, and BB's comment. Though at hearing BB's question, Xiao Hui turned her head to look over at the irritated rhino and couldn't help but wonder if that comment could set him off. Nevertheless, the items that were shown by the others in the warehouse concerned Xiao Hui greatly. They were equipment used to catch large preys. Xiao Hui narrowed her eyes and could only wonder what, or rather who they wanted and why.

Nevertheless, at Jimbo's voice, Xiao Hui could only turn slightly to see who he was talking to and Xiao Hui could only let out a slight chuckle, seeing the komodo dragon and vulture. "That's not something you see everyday." But, soon, Xiao Hui was done with the low chit chat, her attention was drawn towards the doberman and the Italian, though she looked directly at his companion instead. "What was the saying?" She questioned rhetorically, "The best for last? Or in this case, what of your toy? I'd love to see what contraption the both of you will present." Xiao Hui finished, though her tone indicated a bit of a competitive flair.

As Laohu followed along the trail was going in, Laohu kept a watchful eye from behind, glancing back now and then to make sure nothing would come out to them as a surprise. He hated warehouses but most of all, it was always nice to make sure he watched his companion's backs. Too many surprises had given him a headache and definitely knew he had to be on alert in case anything went wrong. What if it was a trap? Regardless, Laohu shook the thought from his mind as he heard Leandra's excited chatter and made mental notes of the different trail marks and sizes for comparison later on.

"Be careful and watch your step. There could be traps no matter the emptiness of the warehouse." Laohu warned.

Soon, with the help of Luness' light, Laohu made sure to stand a few feet away to the side but close enough with Alec, Leandra, and Luness as he looked ahead to see what could possibly be inside.

"Would it be possible for Calista to bring up different blueprints of cars or equipment that could fit polar bears in and out as quickly as they had? There must have been some form of organisation?" The big cat questioned, looking around to see if there any other movements.

Calista grinned at her roommates and she reached for a little remote. "This thing summons an attendant." She had to hop up onto the desk to reach behind the laptop and pull out a menu card, tossing it like a frisbee to the maned wolf. "Go nuts kid...it's on Amber's tab." The Italian patted the weapon he brought fondly. "It fires mirco-darts that network once embedded in the target and sen electric impulses to one another to shut down muscle systems wherever they land. Once cartridge can take down five elephants." deer deer

The Russian's gaze twitched onto Beth, alight with mild surprise at the audacity of the young agent. For a moment she was teetering between being angered, and being impressed.
"To put in simple terms." She began slowly, "Net ken intercept and stop speeding train."
The rhino's beady eyes shifted towards BB and he tossed his massive square head irritably and snorted.
"Net iz large but heavy. Iz best for single, large target."
The big cats of Feral regarded Jimbo thoughtfully, clearly happy about the fact that he had spoken out.
"They are all impressive. We will make sure to put forward fair prices." The lion looked to his two other comrades.
"Before we get to settling a price however, there is one small thing we should discuss..."

Calista read Simon's speech as she heard it filter through the com. She tapped a few keys and flipped the cameras around. "Nothing suspicious yet--wait..." She squinted into the fuzzy blackness of the camera feed on the screen. "Guys, you've got company. More cats...and they're armed."

The lion was very evidently addressing the animals in the room, not even sparing a glance for Simon, Xiao or any of them.
"By this time tomorrow we'll have very little need for the services of your inferior organizations. For we will have acquired one of the most powerful allies. We've deliberated and decided now to extend an invitation...and send a little message to your bosses."
There were eyes in the shadows. Great luminous points that shone even as the shapes of their owners remained hidden. Duik, being a hyena with excellent night vision caught the gleaming turrets fastened to their armour.
"Uh...guys? There're guns pointed at us..."
The Italian was the first to become unsettled. "What is the meaning of this?!"
The doberman growled and the lion grinned a pointed grin.
"Join us. Let your human companions die here tonight, and become members of Feral!"
For a moment there was a prolonged silence. The lion's gaze shifted to the vulture who had perched nearby. It nodded once and that was enough.
Three bullets, one for the Russian, and both of her guards. They never saw who had shot them.

Duik looked about him frantically. "Aw...crackers."

Alec Held his arm up, giving the phoenix more room. The child part of his mind was grinning ear to ear at the fact that there was an honest to goodness phoenix sitting on his shoulder.
The light Luness made reached into the darkness and together they stepped through the doors.
"That's a good idea Laohu," Alec replied, "Calista? Any info?"
There was silence over the com.
"Calista?"
Suddenly her voice sounded, "yeah! Sorry, the other's got...uh you know what? Nevermind. What do you need?"
Alec gave the others a curious look, but decided to press on with their request. "Can you pull up a vehicle registration list for this building?"
"Easy."
As they waited Alec decided to move a little further into the garage. Luness' light illuminated more scratch marks in the parking lot floor.
"Hey nevermind about the registry, I just had an engine start in that lot."
Alec thought he'd misheard, "I'm sorry, an engine start?"
Suddenly a flood of light hit them and Alec cried out as the highbeams took his vision temporarily.
The van screeched as it lurched forward, heading straight for the dazed Alec and the phoenix on his shoulder.

Beth hid her relief as the Russian's face shifted away from anger, and over into something that looked like respect, or at the very least, tolerance. The way the answer was framed, with the emphasis on simple, ruffled Totus's feathers, but she ignored him. She had thought, for a moment, that Manjano would have to bodyguard her away from an angry weapons dealer.
Her eyebrows shot up. Stop a speeding train.
"Well, I'd say that is indeed practically unbreakable..." Beth began, sending a glanced around the room at the other devices. Totus could feel her thoughts bubbling. With a few mental nudges to each other, they reached the same conclusion, and both their memories returned to the last time they were on this side of the globe. In the moment between the end of Beth's statement, and the beginning of the lion's, they were both certain that Feral was going to try to capture a mythic.

Beth was going to say more, softly under the words of the lion, when Totus's talons tightened on her shoulder. His eyes had found movement in the darkness, even though the colored contacts were making it had to distinguish the exact shapes. At almost the same moment, Calista sounded in her ear. In the few seconds of the lion monologuing about their approaching uselessness, Beth and Totus looked around, and Beth instinctively reached for a sidearm that wasn't there anymore.
Totus spoke before she could. "We need out, now."
They were definitely surrounded, with no way out unless they broke through the ranks of armed Ferals.
In the silence, Beth hoped that none of the companions there would move, that they might be able to band together and send Feral running. And then the vulture nodded, the Russian standing next to her went down before anyone could move.
Beth felt warm drops on the side of her face. She flinched, Totus's wings flapped as he tried to keep his balance on her. The snowy-barn owl let out a loud screech, half surprised and half enraged.
Beth took advantage of that moment of chaos, and said quickly, "Calista, need a smokescreen. Sprinklers, alarms, anything. Help."

When she straightened up, Beth stared down at the fallen humans, and Totus stared at the still-living vulture. Slowly, Totus turned his eyes to the commanding lion. This wasn't a shoot-out, it was more like a hostage situation.
Totus was thinking a little faster than she. The owl spoke loudly, even those his voice wavered. "Forcing recruits at gunpoint? Does that actually work for you?"
Beth felt like pinching his beak shut. She had a feeling it wouldn't take much for them to shoot her, too- maybe even just a hint of a feeling that he might be considering it a little. Not that they weren't likely to kill them anyway.

Calista let off a string of curses that would make a sailor proud. She tapped furiously at her keyboard.
"I'm going I'm going! Just...stall them for a few more seconds..."

The lion gave a cruel chuckle as his yellow eyes glinted in the dim light, turning on Totus. "I take it that's a 'no'?"
The doberman stepped bravely in between his human companion and the armed lions. "You're about to make a very dangerous enemy my friends." He growled.
Just then the alarms began to blare. Every animal with sensitive hearing was pinned for several moments. Duik hit the ground, paws over his rounded ears, face contorted in pain. The doberman whined and shut his eyes as his companion flung his arms about him.

Luness' head stayed on a swivel as Alec held her up, just as curious about what they may find in this garage. Her eyes were quick to adjust, but she could not see any clues just yet.

Overhearing Calista's distracted tone over the coms, both Luness and Leandra exchanged a look of concern for the other party. Leandra hoped that Manjano was okay since she knew Falarion was safe back at the hotel. She also hoped Falarion was feeling better.

Seeing Alec's expression, Luness whispered, "I'm sure they're okay, dear. Calisa didn't sound as if she were panicking...yet."

Leandra rolled her eyes at Luness' attempt at encouragement.

As Alec spoke with Calista, Luness perked up at a faint sound of an engine starting. Before she could mention it, Calista did and Luness fluffed up her feathers with concern.

Before she could react further, the lights hit her and Alec. Letting out a shriek, Luness took flight just as Leandra began sprinting at them. Leandra shouted, "Laohu, Alec!" and hoped that the big cat reached Alec in time while she reached out and hugged Luness to her. She let herself fall backwards and out of the way of the van as it roared past her.

Falarion let out an excited yip as the menu card struck him in the muzzle. Blinking, he then knelt down to read the menu card on the floor. He began wagging his tail when he found potato skins on the menu. He had never considered eating such a thing for most of his life until Leandra convinced him to try some while they were training last year. They were his new obsession.

Glancing at the menu, Falarion tentatively tapped the calling button with a claw and then put in his order. He was given a delivery time of half an hour and sighed before thanking the attendant. Just as he finished putting in his order, Calista began speaking frantically to both teams about different issues. Falarion quickly rejoined her at the desk and let out a whimper, "Manny..."

Manjano did his best to watch everyone at this meeting for any potential dangers, but felt as if almost anyone could be a danger to the team. Xiao Hui and Beth began trying to intimidate or rile up others at the meeting and Manjano mindfully stayed close at Beth's side because of this. He was grateful for BB's presence, but he shot a look her way when she began speaking. They needed to maintain a low profile and avoid any extra complications while they were here. This was a precarious situation for everyone involved.

When Calista announced cats approaching who were armed, Manjano's hand immediately went to the inside of his jacket where he had hidden two daggers. He had known that something was likely to go wrong at this meeting, but he also knew that revealing his weapons too early could cause further complications. His eyes skimmed the area until he saw the cats and his eyes widened at the sight of the weaponry they were sporting. His daggers would be useless since the cats had long-range weapons with what he assumed to be high rates of fire.

Manjano knew his stance in this situation and remained silent as one companion gave up his human partner to join the Ferals. Glancing around for BB, Manjano whispered to her, "Stay close, BB." It would be difficult for them to aim at him and kill him without possibly hitting BB, too, and he was hoping the Ferals would assume BB was his companion still.

As the sound went off and animals dropped around them, Manjano immediately reacted by reaching for BB. He was right in his assumption and she had begun to fall after the sound hit her. He deftly caught her and quickly put her in his jacket's left front pocket before turning towards Beth. He took this moment to pull out one of his daggers and knowing his aim would not be perfect, he still aimed it at the lion in charge and threw it as hard as he could. The more distractions, the better, but the team needed to move before the cats recovered.

"Help a companion as you go, guys!" He shouted while he reached for Beth's wrist, hoping to help guide her out of this danger zone.

Totus puffed himself up when the lion looked at him, even bringing his wings away from his body a little. There was a small bob of his head, the start of an aggressive posturing (the one that made Beth giggle), but the Italian's dog spoke up before he could answer. The doberman seemed to share his opinion, thankfully.
Although it makes sense- it is a dog, after all. One could expect disloyalty from a vulture, but a dog? That would just be unnatural. Beth ignored this fragment of a thought that leaked into her mind from Totus, as her own mind was silently waiting for any sign that Calista was going to help them.
The alarms were a surprise even though she had asked for them, and loud enough to floor Totus, literally. The owl forgot to hold tight to Beth's shoulder as she instinctively ducked, couldn't think fast enough to unfold his wings, and ended up tilting off of his perch and dropping like a rock to the floor. He landed awkwardly on his feet, leaning to one side, and stumbled drunkenly for a few feet before falling onto his beak. If they hadn't been able to die, Beth would have laughed. Totus was never so clumsy.

The effect on Totus leaked a little into her own mind, freezing her in the first second, but Beth had the wherewithal to take a moment to look around. Duik was down, like Totus, as was the doberman. She couldn't make out the cats surrounding them, and could only hope they were crouched in pain and not able to open fire. She saw a knife flying toward the lead lion, and followed it back to its owner. Manjano, who was already moving. His hand clasped around her wrist, and started to guide her in one swift motion. He pulled her one step, then two, before she started to control her feet.
Beth twisted away, hard enough to make her skin burn where he had grabbed, and dove toward Totus's cowering form. He hadn't even managed to stand up from the floor. It was like scooping up a loaf of bread. She tucked him against her chest, and then turned to look for Manjano and her exit.
Now, she could leave.
Her eyes passed right over their canon and its crate, not even registering its existence anymore.

Barry grinned at Falarion as he began searching through the menu for something to nosh on. He had to admit to himself that it all looked pretty good but the thought of eating made him sick at the moment. Given his slight daze and added worry over BB, He couldn't bring himself to order food. He was sure Falarion would eat enough for the both of them anyway. Reaching up to his head, Barry slid the once cold ice pack off his head. Shifting it around in his palm for a few minutes he figured it was time to get more for both their heads. He needed some movement in his body anyway. Finishing up the pats and scratches, he stood up and got his bearings. "Honestly... not that bad." He thought to himself as he managed to keep his balance. He gave a quick wave to excuse himself and took the ice bucket on the way out. It wasn't too hard to find the Ice machine. The down side was it being on the opposite of the building yet he wasn't in a rush. There wasn't anything he could do anyway.
The Ice machine spat out chunks with little reliance. It was either huge chunks or shreds. His eyes held a distant look as the bucket finally filled enough for two injured heads. He turned to the path back to the room but paused. He was hit with the sensation of a spark of electricity hit from the front of his head to the back. He remembered the feeling from long ago when he was stationed away from her but never knew what it meant till now. Dropping the bucket, he bolted back to the room. He fiddled with the room card as it shook in his hands before there was a click. Forcefully entering, he noticed Calista typing like the keyboard was on fire and Falarion looking worried towards the screen. "BB?" He tried to call out, coming out as loose air hardly audible but painful in many ways. He opted to join Falarion's side, holding a somber look towards the screen.

Once again Jimbo's ears perked up at the Russian's mention of her device. Such a net that could stop a moving train must have a huge amount of tensile strength to stop something moving at a velocity of a train. Not to mention the shear size and weight behind a moving train. He felt a little silly for a moment glancing over at the canon beside him, until he realized that he could more than likely knock said train over off its tracks if he concentrated the concussive blast. He smirked and was about to say something when he was cut off by their host. The big cat made his skin crawl even more at the mention of something they needed to discuss. Luckily, Calista rang in to cement his fears at the mention of more Feral members moving in around them. Jimbo huffed and looked back to Simon, who was reaching slowly into his jacket pocket for where he kept his B.R.A.S.S. Knuckles. Jimbo followed suit and placed a hand on the canon resting in its carrying box, ever so slightly flicking a small switch just above the grip.

Duik's alarm about being pinned with guns made Jimbo scoop the canon up onto his shoulder into a readied position. The engine inside hummed pleasantly, ready for Jimbo to fire. But before he could figure out where to aim, three shots rang out and the Russian and her guards dropped to the ground. Simon was already wielding his knuckles, which sparked with electricity that jumped between the rounded nodes on each knuckle. He grit his teeth as Beth called out and Callista answered, ready to sprint into the fray. But Jimbo barged into his mind and stopepd him.
"Unless you want to go home as swiss cheese, you better stay right where you are Simon."
Simon growled, but it did take long for them to get their opening. The alarms on the building blared to life and many of the surrounding animals dropped. Simon and Jimbo winced at the loud noise, but it only bothered Jimbo about as much as it would any of the humans.
The gleam of a knife being hurled across the room caught Jimbo's eye and he saw Manjano stepping up to take the first swing. Good on him to go for the head of the snake. That elft Jimbo to help even the odds a little better. He knelt down on his back leg and readied his canon towards the shadows of the room where he had seen the glowing eyes only moments before. In a quick spray, Jimbo unleashed the power of the canon in a sweeping blow trying to hit as many snipers as he could.
Simon looked around at Manjano's call, and found Duik was the closest. He scooped up the Hyena in his arms and threw him over his shoulder. He looked around to the others and yelled as loud as he could over the alarms.
"LETS GET OUT OF HERE WHILE WE STILL HAVE THE CHANCE!! JIMBO WILL COVER OUR RETREAT!"

Alec felt a wall of fur collide with him and grabbed Laohu about the neck at the tiger hurled them to safety. The van screeched past where the two had just been, swerving to the right as the door began to rise lazily. Too slow for the driver for he slammed into it at full force. The collision sent a shock through the entire garage and the door splintered into pieces. Alec scrambled to his feet, wiping dirt from his forehead, a determined look set upon his face.
"Get to the car. Quick. We're going after that van."
Running back through the empty mall Alec called Calista. "I need you to track that van."
"You put a tracker on it?" Came the crackly reply.
"Um...no."
"Oi, its always miracles you're asking for! Allrightallright, then I need a license plate."
"Uuuh."
Laohu took this time to intervene: "GSYT659!" He shouted at the com.
"Tiger's got more sense than you Blackjack. Just hold on. Get in your vehicle and be ready to move."

Calista cursed under her breath, pulling up two more windows and working furiously.
"I'll have to hack the city watch cameras and put a ping system whenever the license plate comes up...geez, why does everything always happen at one time--Ey! Wonderdog. Give me a little room will ya?"

Amber reacted as soon as the alarms began to blare, she dropped, leaving air where her vital points would have been if the lions had decided to take blind shots. One of them did and the air filled with the rattle of a rapid fire gun. The spray was wide of nearly everything however, and hit the lights on the far above ceiling, taking several out. Now the animals were deaf and the humans were almost blind.
"Arg!" The head lion bellowed as Manjano's dagger found a home in his exposed foreleg. "KILL THEM!"
The pulse canon sounded and suddenly the air was filled with several astonished big cats. They ere blasted back, some rendered entirely unconscious.
"We're going to need to work together to get out of this!" Amber yelled above the sirens, not sure if she'd be heard by her team. She aimed two quick shots as a lion stumbled into one of the remaining beams of light. They hit their targets, the joining mechanism for the turrets, and the wires that enabled firing control. One turret snapped off completely while the other went dead, leaving the lion completely unarmed.
Duik stumbled forward in the chaos, his head throbbing as his ears rang. He tripped over something and fell flat, looking up into the face of a grizzled lioness, she aimed her shoulder turret at him and suddenly she was gone. The doberman stood in her place, having shouldered her aside.
"I am thinking now is a good time to escape." The doberman said casually. His companion was right behind them.
Duik at this point was scooped up by Simon, and curled himself up like a puppy to make himself easier to carry.
"Lordy you're strong!" He poked Simon's bicep with much astonishment.

A series of gun shots sounded and suddenly both the doberman and his companion were hurt. The an clutched his arm, face contorted in pain, and the doberman was on the ground.
"We can't leave them!" Xiao called to Amber, who saw the event and nodded grimly.
"Get them to cover!"
Xiao worked to drag the two wounded behind a train car. The Nigerian and the Australian were already there.
"My komodo's gone and betrayed me, damn little skink!" The Australian cried.
"Auros is defending us." The Nigerian pointed to where his rhinocerous was plowing into a line of cats trying to organize themselves for a real assault. His hide was peppered with bullet wounds. "But he will not last much longer if those guns are left operational."
"And we can't run while they're firing. It's too risky....BB!" Amber called, looking for the tiny bird. "There are small wires connecting the turrets on the lions' backs. Cutting them should disable the turrets, and you're small and fast enough that nothing could actually hit you if you tried."

Calista had been tracking the van for a few moments now, while also paying attention to the last remaining camera that hadn't been shot out in the warehouse.
The map pinged with another shot of the license plate. She forwarded the position to Alec's gps.
Alec maneuvered expertly through traffic, quickly, but not recklessly enough to draw attention. They were gaining.
"Hey guys..." Calista said through a frown, flipping both channels open so everyone could hear. "Call me crazy, but that van...its headed straight for the docks."

The gunfire started before Beth could make it behind anything. She dropped to the floor, barely avoiding squishing Totus. He sat in the crook of her arm, dead weight. It was dark, now, too. Without Totus's help, Beth was just as useless in the dark as anyone else. She shuffled along the floor, half-army crawling. The closest cover was the Russian's net-gun. Behind it, she took that moment to finally pull her weapon from the ankle holster, but there wasn't anything to shoot at in the dark.

Beth looked down at Totus, who had his eyes squeezed shut and all his extremities pulled in tightly to his body.
"Totus!" Beth hissed, shaking him lightly. He didn't move. "Totie, dumpling, open your eyes." There was a twitch in one of his wings.
"Bird, now!" His eyes flipped open, but he made no move to get out of her hold.
"Loud." was all he said.

With a grunt, Beth tucked him against her again, and turned to look to see where the others were. She could just barely see Xiao, behind a train car with the other sellers. Manjano was.. where? He had been next to her, before she dove for Totus.
"Where the hell is the door?" She whispered to herself, as she took her weapon off safety and planned a route to get back to the group. Calista popped into her ear again, with what sounded like bad news- reinforcements for the other guys.

BB expected a harsh fall to the ground the moment she got stunned in the air. She locked up and felt pain shiver up her small stature. "OH GOD TURN THAT RACKET OFF!" She wanted to yell out. She managed to close her eyes while plummeting head first to the earth. She screamed internally hoping Barry would somehow show up out of the blue. Then, something soft caught her just in the nick of time! Opening her eyes to the familiar face of Manjano, She sighed in relief while being placed in the comfort of a pocket. She shifted around a little, when the effect of the alarm wore off, so she could get comfortable and peek out when needed. "Honestly, I feel I should have been born a sugar glider. The amount of pockets I spend my time in is unprecedented!" She shook off the lingering stun and curled up when the sound of bullets sprayed forth in growing amounts. Yelling, gun fire, and the thud of a running rhino was way too much stimulation out of the blue. Even for her! There was one thing that that trampled over all. Amber calling out over everything was unmistakable. Despite her feelings, BB heard her name called out, she popped out of her pocket nest. The instructions were pretty clear. "Cut some wires, do her thing, be back by dinner time! Got it!" She said as she zipped out of her safe zone.

Zipping into the air, she didn't sense bullets on her tail immediately, but there were going everywhere for sure. She hovered for a second, getting a feel for the situation but felt her little heart race faster at the glance of the Vulture chilling on the enemy side. Beginning to dive back to Manjano, her eyes caught the rumbling of the rhino taking a good brunt of the bullets. As tough as he was, the wounds were show enough he wasn't going to make it much longer. Mid dive, she closed her eyes hard knowing full well this was going to be her worst experience to date. "I better get some kind of royalty status for this one.... A massage would be just as good." She said to herself as her dive arced into the bullet storm.

Being little had many perks and problems. Despite being fragile, if nothing could hit her then nothing mattered. Zooming through the quick lights and sound bursts, it was like dancing in a meadow of flowers. That is, if flowers were metal and the meadow was on fire. It wasn't long till she found herself next to the rhino. "HEY BIG GUY! BE CAREFUL! I'LL GET THOSE PESKY GUNS DOWN! TAKE COVER IF YOU CAN! BYEEEEEEeeeee" She said without stopping. She was nearing the lions and, to her displeasure, the vulture. "HEY NERDS! TRY TO SHOOT SOMEONE SMALLER THAN YOU! I'LL TAKE YOU ALL ON!" She bellowed out to the lions, circling them closely. Hopping that would be distracting enough to get the fire off of people for a moment, she circled closely trying to find a good entry for wire dismantling for them all. The moment she could see an opening, she would take it. "WHAT? CAT CAN'T EVEN CATCH A BIRDY? SOME APEX PREDATORS YOU ALL ARE!"

The lions reacted to BB, shifting their attention from the larger targets, but those who tried to fire only missed as BB was much too small and fast for them to target properly.
"Stop wasting your fire!" The leader bellowed.
There was a short pause in the bullet storm as the lions obeyed, trying to re-align their weapons with the humans once more.
The Rhino, sensing the change threw himself forward, knocking two lions back with a swing of his great head. He bolted for his companion and darted around the side of the train car.

Just then the faint roar of an engine could be heard getting closer...

Alec stayed on course, watching the vehicle ahead of them. They had caught up with it now. The driver seemed to notice them following because the van sped up, screeching around the corner of a busy street. Suddenly it veered, fish-tailing into a fruit stand and sending the produce in every direction.
Alec flinched as their windshield was spattered with watermelon and papaya.
"Great! Now I'm craving a fruit smoothie." Alec said as he put them into the speeding van's wake. They swerved again and powered towards the pier.
The van should have slowed by now, but it was still turning erratically.
"I think something's wrong with the driver!"
No sooner had he said this than the van turned too sharply and fell on it's side. Sparks flew as it slid forward and smashed into the side of a warehouse.

The explosion of the wood wall was preceded by the flash of headlights and the screech of metal grinding against asphalt. Amber grabbed anyone nearby and pulled them into a duck to shield their eyes from debris. The van came to a shuddering halt on its side and suddenly everything was silent.
In the smoke it was difficult to see. The sprinklers were still jetting water, that beaded and ran over the van's ruined front.
Alec pulled up just before the wreck, leaping out of the driver seat and running up to the crash.
Suddenly the back doors of the vehicle shuddered and Alec froze. The lock gave way and a huge, white muzzle pushed through.

Feeling Beth pull away from him, Manjano skidded to a halt and turned around to see her collecting Totus. He mentally face palmed, as he realized that Totus would of course be affected by the noise like most of the other animals. Once she had picked up Totus, Manjano joined Beth in making their hasty escape towards the nearest exit. Jimbo was wisely using their cannon to keep their enemy at bay and covering the group's escape.

Hearing the lion's pained roar made Manjano smile briefly and he glanced at the big cat to see his aim had been mostly true. It was not the eye shot he had hoped for, but the injury would slow the big guy down. Before he could be too satisfied with himself, gunfire erupted again and Manjano hit the deck in a swift movement. As he glanced up, though, he saw no sign of Beth and Totus near him. How distracted had he been?

Cursing to himself, Manjano began high crawling to the nearest crate and got behind it just as he felt a sharp pain shooting up his left foot. Letting out another string of curses, he took a quick glance at his foot to see blood beginning to stain his stupidly fancy shoe. Yanking off the shoe, Manjano inhaled sharply when he saw that the wound only had one hole at the bottom of his foot and lots of blood was soaking his sock. That meant the bullet was still in his foot. Seeing how pointless his shoe was for protection, Manjano tossed it aside and then tore off two strips from the bottom of his undershirt. He then stuffed one into the wound as best as he could, tears welling up despite his efforts to look tough. The other strip he used to wrap his foot as tightly as he could manage. Once done, he leaned back against his crate, gasping for breath, now rather oblivious to the fight and the fact that BB had already left him.

Before he could relax too much, the sound of an approaching engine began to grow. Grumbling to himself, Manjano tried to figure out where the sound was coming from and realized belatedly that it was heading straight for his cover. Cursing his luck, Manjano struggled to his feet and half limped, half ran away from the noise. The only upside to this was that BB had halted the big cats from firing just as Manjano was making a break for better cover. He soon stumbled back to the ground and found himself rolling right into Amber. At that exact moment, the van crashed into the warehouse and Manjano kept his eyes shut as the crash resounded and dust began to envelope everyone. He could only hope that Beth and Totus had found proper cover before now.

"I mean, if you insist," Leandra said before running after Alec. He did not leave any room for discussion and Leandra soon let go of Luness when the phoenix said, "Dear, I am fine, really. I can fly." Harrumphing, Leandra warily glanced in Luness' direction while she flew with ease. Her heart was still racing from the fear of losing Luness and now it was racing because she was running. It was not the best way to recover from such a terrifying instance. Alec could have died, too, though Laohu reacted quickly enough.

Exhaling, Leandra forced herself to pay attention when they reached their van. Now was not the time to be dawdling on the what-ifs. Overhearing Calista's nickname for Alec on the coms, Leandra noted to inquire about it later, but wisely kept her mouth shut right now. As they all scrambled into the van, Leandra hastily buckled her seat belt before Alec whipped out onto the roads. They were soon racing after the other van and Leandra's heart felt like it would leap out of her throat. Her arms went to her sides, as she held on for dear life. These scenes were definitely way more fun to watch in a movie theater than to experience in real life.

As fruit collided with their windshield, Leandra flinched and then scowled at Alec for his comment. "I don't think I'm craving anything right now." Luness mindfully was down at Leandra's feet, trying to avoid the worst of the lurching vehicle's movements and the momentum that came with it. Seeing the van's erratic movements warned Leandra of impending danger and she shouted back at Alec, "No shit!" just as the van crashed into the warehouse. As Alec skidded to a halt, Leandra quickly exited the van with him while Luness took to the sky, circling the van warily. Just as Leandra joined Alec's side, she too saw the white muzzle protruding from the back of the van. Right as the image of a polar bear came to her mind, Luness dove from the sky and screeched. Leaving no room for the bear to attack Alec or Leandra, Luness extended her talons and aimed to strike the bear in the muzzle.

Jimbo continued to fire off his canon a few more times before the big cats began taking aim at him. Dropping his shoulder so the canon tucked under his arm, Jimbo sprinted across the floor on two legs and a knuckle towards an over turned cargo container. He put his back to the container as shots deflected off of it and caught his breath as he checked himself for injuries. Finding none, he reached out and touched Simon, who he found was not far behind a crate with Duik and Amber. It was then that the lights went out, and Jimbo was now at a disadvantage. He felt the canon under his arm and began to feel around the side of it for something. Finally his fingers would a small indentation just above the grip and between the barrel. He pushed it, and a small panel flipped open and a screen popped to life. Jimbo touched a few parts of the screen, and it when bright green. He chuckled as he remounted the canon on his shoulder and began to swivel the canon around so he could see across the room through the panel where Manjano, Amber, Beth, and Simon where crouched around the room.
"Thank you Nigel!"

It was then that Jimbo noticed the lack of gun fire bouncing off of his container. He quickly lifted himself and peered around the edge with the canon. He could see the ever so smallest blur zipping around the cats with the mounted guns and realized he had an opening thanks to BB. He knelt down, took aim and quickly began to fire the canon once more at any of their foes that were broken off of BB and were returning to firing at them.
Simon set Duik down in the safest spot he could find behind their crate and then lifted his head over the edge to see what he could. The action was moot however, as with the lights off Simon was nearly as blind as a bat. He could make out the basic shapes around him with the help of what little light was shining around them, mainly Duiks and Amber's forms. But something at the very edge of his vision caught him a little off guard. It was moving fast, and if he hadn't been straining as hard as he was he would have lost it in the darkness. In the split second it took for him to realize what it was, and the time it was in the air flying for Amber, Simon had reared back his fist and was driving it forward into the darkness. It met its target, more or less, in the side of a scaly rib cage of a very large reptilian creature, that Simon could only guess was the Komodo Dragon that he had seen earlier. The darkness and the sudden shifting did not help his footing as he went tumbling into the darkness behind them after the dragon. He heard the THUD of is hitting the ground and the quick movement of claws on concrete, and finally a hiss that was deep and menacing aimed at Simon. Simon still couldn't see, but he didn't need to if someone could help him.
"Duik!! Be my eyes!!"

Jimbo unloaded a few more shots at the cats he could see in the night vision of the range finder, before beams of light began to appear in his screen as bright white swords. He realized that they were coming through the wooden walls of the warehouse and he was able to piece out headlights growing closer and closer, as he turned tail and ran for the far side of the warehouse. When the crash of the van fell over them, Jimbo dove once more behind cover. This time he was crouched behind a large rolled up spool of wire. Without missing beat, he lifted the canon over the spool and aimed it at the van. He wasn't sure what had just joined the fight, but he was going to be ready.

"Uhh, on your left!" Duik barked, catching the giant lizard as it circled for another strike. When the van collided with the side of the warehouse he wasn't ready and barely avoided being flattened by the vehicle as it skidded to a halt. zCrookedz zCrookedz

The white muzzle took the brunt of Luness' claws and recoiled with an angry snarl, there was only a moment's pause before the doors burst open in a screech of bent metal and the polar bear surged forward. In his wake was one more bear, an ocelot, a tapir and a wolverine, their eyes were wide, their pupils slitted and they looked about wildly but didn't run. Instead they fixed their sights on the people and companions surrounding them and snarled. Something was terribly wrong.
In the wreckage of the driver's cabin a bloodied figure tried to crawl from the wreckage. His shirt was ripped to pieces, as if he'd been clawed. He was aware of his surrounding however and when he saw the big cats his eyes widened in fear. A sticky, purple substance was oozing out from the crushed window, and now that the animals had broken free, it could be seen slicking parts of their fur.

The polar bear lashed out, paw drenched in the strange substance, it caught the phoenix in the face and sent her spinning away. Lioness075 Lioness075

When Duik awoke he felt something sticky clinging to his fur. It seeped right down to his skin and he felt a strange, heated sensation.
"H-hey guys...I feel funny."
Alex was on the other side of the van but he saw his companion and called out to him. Duik looked over, his eyes suddenly filled with fear.
"Alec..Alec something happening to me!...Help!"
Alec tried to get around but the polar bear reared on its hind legs and bellowed.
"Alec...I'm scared..."
When Alec looked back Duik had his teeth bared, as if he was fighting against something in his mind. His eyes were shut tight but when they opened again his pupils were reduced to slivers. A low, guttural growl escaped him, one that Alec had never heard him make before.
"D?" Alec tried, hope catching in his chest, but when Duik looked at him he didn't recognize the man he'd spent the last decade with. Then, without warning Duik leapt, clearing the truck and ran, teeth bared, straight for Alec's throat.

Leandra gasped and stumbled backwards when Luness was struck. Through their mental link, Leandra could 'feel' Luness' pain. Luness struck the concrete hard and slid to a halt several meters away from Leandra and Alec. Leandra struggled under the throbbing pain from Luness and took a step towards her fallen companion before she paused. Duik was beginning to panic and her attention was briefly tugged away from Luness.

Luness blearily stood up from the ground, her wings limp at her sides and resting on the concrete. Her vision was unfocused, as she tried to see what was happening. She could hear shouting and feel the turmoil and confusion coming from her link with Leandra. Suddenly, a staggering headache struck her and Luness shuddered before stumbling a few steps forward. Her wings swayed at her sides and she struggled to maintain her balance. She shook her head, but could feel an overwhelming sensation beginning to fill her mind. Fear pierced through and Luness cried out in her head, "Lea!"

Luness' cry brought Leandra's attention back on her instantaneously. Tears streaking down her cheeks, as Leandra began to run towards her companion. "Lune, I'm coming!"

Her vision began to clear and Luness suddenly cried out loud, "NO!" Her anguish filled the air and she struggled to take flight to no avail. Crashing back down on the concrete with her wings splayed out, Luness looked up and whispered, "No."

Leandra misunderstood Luness' feelings and cries, rushing on towards her companion. Determined to do anything she could to help her fallen companion, she missed Duik's leap.

Her willpower caved just as Luness witnessed Duik tackle Leandra instead of Alec. The last thing she saw was her companion screaming and falling with the hyena ravenously attacking anyone near him.

As Duik struck her, Leandra's mind faltered and her scream was cut off. In a flash, her mental link with Luness was severed and Leandra felt numb. She struck the concrete and lie still, her eyes unblinking as she watched Luness slowly rise up from where she had fallen. The phoenix's eyes were empty and the shriek that pierced the air was chilling to the bone. Her wings raised up at either side and Luness began to rise into the air while flames licked along her body. The fire seemed to reach her eyes with a fury that could level a mountain.

The lion's gun fire had stopped for the moment so they could adjust from BB to the rest of the team. "AWW, come one you big babies! Can't hit little ol' me?!" She said tauntingly to the lions while being a little annoyed her diversion didn't last long. As luck would have it, it was enough time for the team to get where they needed to without fear of turning into swiss cheese. She zoomed around the lions once more trying to draw fire but a gust of wind pushed her back as the Rhino plowed through some of the cats before returning to his partner. "Oof.... That.. now that is gonna leave a mark for sure. Uhh, clean up on aisle five!" she said wincing at what transpired before her. A few zaps came from behind where the team was and hit square on for a few more lions. After, there was hardly any threat of bullets. "OH! Yeah, that will do. Clean up handled." She said as she perched on the edge of a crate as she tried to get her bearings.

Event after event, a thunderous crash hammered through the warehouse as flickering headlights from a van entered the field. It rocked BB from the crate as she took flight again. This time, darting above the van to see what would come from the dust."Oh good, it was just a van. I thought it was another bomb. What a day!" She dived down a little to get a better look at the scene, with her size and speed she could relay what was going down to the others while keeping out of danger. To her surprise, there were more animals coming out mostly not hurt but seemed odd for the setting. The most threatening of all was the Polar bear that began to appear before Alec. "ALEC?!" BB yelled in feared surprise as he wasn't suppose to be here as well as the bear getting awfully close to him. Then Leandra came beside him as Luness dove for the polar bear. BB was conflicted at the moment to either cheer Luness on or call out for help from the team to help them out, they were getting surrounded fast. The judgment became clear after her phoenix friend got swatted away. "Leandra? Luness? LUNESS!" She screeched out.

The scene was unfolding before her now as the ooze came into view and Duik getting covered in some. The change was unsettling to hear as the low growl came into earshot. Seeing the sudden attack from him, she flew to action. Zipping around in order for everyone to hear, she yelled out to the others. "BAD NEWS EVERYONE, MORE ENEMIES THAT LOOK UNBONDED! POLAR BEAR, BEAR, OCELOT, TAPIR, WOLVERINE. ALEC AND LEANDRA PINNED DOWN, DUIK IS GOING CRAZY AND ATTACKING ANYTHING, WEIRD GOO EVERYWHERE! CAREFUL OF ATTACKS!"

She dove to Luness who seemed to be getting up after the nasty hit with furious shriek. No doubt from seeing her companion hurt by Duik. As BB saw her rise with flame and anger in her eyes, BB slipped in the view of Duik and Leandra. "H-hey LU-LU! I know it looks bad but... but... uhh Duik isn't in his right mind! Something hit him and he doesn't know what is going on! He is our friend! Just don't kill him! I... I can distract him while you heal her up! Right?" She said as fear wobbled her voice. The flame and anger suppressing her without effort. It was now BB could see the emptiness in her eyes similar to Duik's. "Right? Lu..." She said disbelieving herself as she geared up to play cat and mouse with her friend but also biggest fear.

With several quick glances, in the breaks of gunfire, Beth managed to determine that she had ended up nearly opposite of most everyone else- and isolation wasn't going to help her. Totus was starting to become more aware, mostly because of the jolting her was feeling as she moved.
The lead lion shouted, and the pause that followed was enough for her to run from her spot behind the Russian's gun to behind another crate. The rhino gave her another chance, and now she was flanking her allies instead of facing them. Progress, at last.
At least until the van skidded through the wall between them. Beth skidded to a stopped, and then jumped backward.
This time she dropped Totus, but he had enough sense to open his wings and glide away. The alarms were still killing his ears, but he was over the shock now, and the danger to Beth was only increasing. His human dodged a large beam that went rocketing through the air, but smaller fragments left little nicks along her skin. She stood up quickly, as noise came from inside the van, and swore softly.

The commotion at the back of the van was hidden from view, but as Beth stood she could see the driver start to wiggle out, and Duik begin to stand up. Totus was watching as Luness went flying through the air, specks of purple sludge following her arc. His worry was replaced by tangible fear when the air where she had been was now filled with the large head of a polar bear.
Beth brought her arm down decisively, using the butt of her weapon to smash in the damaged windshield. Her foot cleared out the damaged glass. She had her hands hooked under the arms of the driver to pull him out before he could move much- she hadn't forgotten her original training. Once his legs were clear of the cabin, Beth laid him down gently, and said, "Don't go anywhere. Play dead and maybe you'll live."

Beth stood and turned just in time to watch Duik soar into Leandra, taking her down viciously, as Luness rose into the air behind them, flames and all. BB, the blessed little bird, tried to talk sense into Luness, but Luness wasn't listening. Beth assumed it was because Duik had just tackled her companion, and she saw no reason to think otherwise.
Beth spoke softly, but Totus heard her loud and clear. "Totus, help BB with Luness."
Totus didn't take the time to respond. With a few strong wingflaps, he careened toward Luness and buzzed her head, soaring past only a few inches from her skull. Distracting her would work, right? At least until someone figured out Duik.
Lioness075 Lioness075 Bolts Bolts
As Totus followed her request, Beth turned and fired a few shots in the general direction of the remaining lions, hoping to distract them for a few moments while they dealt with the beasts from the van. She moved toward the fray at the back of the van, taking aim first at the polar bear. She held her fire for a heartbeat- if they were sentient, they might not attack if guns were pointed at them.

Simon's vision was still trying to adjust to the darkness when Duik called out the next attack. Sure enough, Simon planted his right foot and swung his fist into the darkness when he heard the sound of comodo dragons talons clicking across the concrete floor. He connected and once again sent the dragon sprawling backwards, just in time for Simon to dive out of the way of the incoming truck. Now the headlights were shining into the warehouse, and Simon glanced around for the dragons next attack, but only found its unconscious form sprawled out behind a box towards the back of the warehouse.
As the dust from the warehouse settled, Simon began top cough and wave his hand to clear the debree from his eyes. He was just about to call out for the others, when the giant white furred polar bear caught his attention. He watched as it attack Luness, and a handful of other critters exited the van and began to snarl and snap at everyone around them. Simon found the dial on his knuckles quickly, and cranked it up to deliver a powerful stun to anything that cam in contact with them. He was about to move forwards towards the creatures, when he noticed the slick, sticky surface of the ooze coming from the truck. At first he thought it was oil from the truck, but when the light caught it, he could tell it was a brilliant shad of purple.
Duik's voice snapped him out of his momentary thoughts, and he looked over to see the Hyena lunge for....ALEC? Simon wasn't close enough or fast enough to do anything about what happened next. He knew something was wrong with Duik, and the Leandra had thrown herself between him and Alec taking the brunt of the attack. It was pure chaos now. He felt Jimbo pushing into his mind as Simon moved forward. The gorilla had moved a bit closer to the side of the warehouse with the truck on it, but far enough away to stay out of the way of the purple goo that was oozing from the truck. He was still holding back the Lions, firring the canon ever chance he saw one of their stupid heads pop up. But he was trying to keep an eye on the van and their newer opponents as well. When he spoted Duik towering over Leandra's crumpled form, he pushed into Simon's mind with all the force he could muster.
"Simon! Do something! Duik will kill her!"
Simon gritted his teeth and began moving towards Duik and Leandra sprawled out on the ground. He tightened the grip on his knuckles as he got closer reared back both his arms.
"I'm sorry for this Duik!"
Simon drove his fists forwards towards Duiks flank. The moment his hits landed there was a loud POP, before sending the hyena backwards away from Simon's punch which currently had about as much juice pumping through it as a hospital defibrillator. He wasn't sure if Duik would get back up from the hit or not, but he knelt down next to Leandra and placed a hand on the side of her cheek.
"Leandra? Are you ok? Can you hear me?"
