Name
Evangeline (Eva) Bracht

Rank
32

Appearance
0.jpg
Evangeline wears thicker clothes than her counter parts due to her normally operating in the colder north, she sports a grey cloak made from the hide and feathers of a local creature that protects her from the biting winters, wet seasons, and even serves as great shade during the summers. On her head is a headband with a white lotus flower, some kids in a local village decided to play a prank on Eva while she was resting inside, of course she had noticed them but allowed them to do what they pleased, she kept it thinking it as a sweet gesture. However above all of her positions is an Amulet of the Goddess of Chetvertia, a miniturized statue of a woman praying, with wings outstretched forming a cross.

Age
23

Personality
Evangeline is like many Claymores on the outside anyways, suppressed emotions and a steely figure. Inside she is a highly religious person, praying to the Goddess of Chetvertia every morning and visits a church whenever there is one, not to pray but as a habit. Beginning born in the clergy she is well educated and uses this to her advantage, often being crafty and taking in as much information as possible to find and dispose of Yoma rather than simply wandering the streets in hopes to find one. She despises Yoma with a strong passion and conviction that is only rivaled by her love of children and her faith to the goddess. Her love of children coming from the fact that she was born in an orphanage with many of those she would call siblings she protects them with all she can, even if it would be a detriment to her or the mission.

Her biggest fears are of a razed village where the carnage is at its very heights as they remind her of her past trauma, although they are often followed by a intense hatred, another would be the very idea of her family and the boy she once loved coming to harm. She is a woman of passion and emotions as much as that contradicts with the notion of Claymores being emotionless, however she attempts to hide this fact, both to fit in and in fear of what may happen should it be known.

Backstory
Evangeline was raised an orphan under the care of the clergy, because of this she was indoctornated in the faith of the goddess of Chetvertia becoming highly religious. Her life in the church was fairly average, becoming well educated and having a healthy social life, even becoming somewhat popular in the orphanage that she was raised in. Viewing many of the children and the nuns that raised her as family, but of course it all had to end. Eva was only seven years old when a Yoma appeared in her village, at first only a few people went missing, the children that stayed out at night. Until it grew powerful enough to reveal itself, nesting within the orphanage posing as one of the many sisters that worked there. It tore through everyone, Eva was only able to stay alive by acting dead under all of her friends. But it wouldn't take long for the Yoma to notice her under everyone, and before she was killed and eaten, a Claymore bursted into the orphanage slaying the monster.

Now with no clear future and those that she cared about gone, their blood still dripping off the halls of the orphanage, Eva walked up to the claymore that had just saved her and offered herself to it. But it refused her, defeated Eva didnt know what else to do, the villagers believed her to be cursed being the only survivor of the massacre. But luckily after a few days without a home a traveling merchant couple took her in out of pity, which began her life wandering the world seeing Chetvertia for the first time and visiting the largest shrine of the goddess, to the Ikar Desert and the Western Plains with only a amulet of the Goddess of Chetvertia to remind her of home. She even met a boy during her travels that she promised to come back to, but upon a faithful day on the western plains three years after her close incident the caravan her newly fostered family had to go to a town nearby the Lonely Spear.

Arriving to the town, immediately there was something wrong, in the distance there was no smoke for fires weather to cook, smith or to keep warm. No sound of your average life, banging of metal and wood, people talking, children laughing. Reaching the gates what was in front of the small trade caravan was haunting, the massive gates that allowed two carts to go through at the same time were destroyed, forced inward. The caravan immediately stopped fearing the worst, Eva however hopped out of the wagon and ran inside. She heard shouts and screams behind her, telling her begging her to stop but she had to see it for herself. Stopping at the entrance she could hear her foster parents running after her, but what was infront of her was a scene that made her throw up and cry, reliving the memory of her orphanage but scaled up to a whole town.

Her parents caught up to her counseling her and grimacing at the scene and gore in front of them but what caught their attention more was the lone woman that walked out onto the streets. No, it wasnt a woman, a claymore. The first one Eva had seen in three years, it walked up to the family asking why they were here with a hint of concern and annoyance in her voice, her father told them they were simply a merchant caravan. But before the Claymore could tell them that it was not safe here, screams could be heard behind them. Immediately the Claymore rushed past the family toward the starving yoma that had laid hidden until now killing the new arrivals and destroying everything that they had built. Eva only saw this as a repeat of the orphanage, begging her new found family to hide.

When the screaming and killing was done, it was only Eva and her family that were left. The Claymore, already walking off sensing no more Yoma thinking to itself a job done. Without thinking Eva ran up to her, with a new conviction in her eyes, telling the Claymore to take her, of course, it declined her offer once again. Her parents ran up to the two, sincerely apologizing to the Claymore. But Eva looked back at her kind foster parents and with tears told them that she had to go. The Yoma had done nothing but taken from her, and do nothing else but take from everything she cheerished, So she will have to throw away her life once more so that they can't take anything ever again.
—————

Defensive Type
preferring to study and outlast her opponents, Eva depends on her regenerative abilities and focuses on avoiding damage should a yoma prove to be more difficult to deal with. Using smarts to deal with problematic rather than pure brute force and endurance, she improvises her fights a lot using more than just her and her claymore to kill. She would often however look to protect any human nearby, even throwing herself in the path of a hit that would otherwise be fatal to any offensive type Claymore. She wouldn’t hesitate to simply cut the yoma down should the opportunity present itself though unless it would bring harm to others.

~Anabelle, the Empty~
1634155165603.png

(Standard claymore uniform and sword, however)
Symbol:
1634155175828.png

Rank: 40
Age: Appears late 30's.

Personality: Calm and aloof, Anabelle is hard to rattle. She's always got a sad smile on her face, and tends to keep her actual opinion on things to herself, agreeing with whatever the least troubling decision is to get through the day. Her goal is to make as little fuss as possible, and draw as little attention to herself as possible, which, with her injuries, is a bit harder to do than she'd like.

When with friends, Anabelle can be quite snarky, commenting seldom, but viciously, and her smile grows a little more genuine. Conversely, she seems at her worst when fighting, pitying opponents as she cuts them down.

Backstory: Not many Claymore can say they've seen an abyssal one on their first mission and lived. Anabelle doesn't claim it either. On her first mission against an awakened one in the Grimillin Swamp, she was blindsided, and shredded before she could even see who her opponent was. All she could remember was that laughing voice. And the pain. Anabelle particularly remembered that part being unpleasant.

As an offensive type claymore, it seemed she was out the game as she had no hope of recovering from her many injuries. At least not to an extent that would matter. The organization was already making plans to dispose of the useless warrior before they had a strange visitor to headquarters. Anabelle herself, who asked how many survivors there were. None. With a sad melancholic expression, she asked for her next mission, despite being in tatters, and barely able to stand. Almost with a laugh, her handler sent her off, turning to the others and saying "Either she dies in the field and we don't have to worry about her, or she's useful. Either way, we table it and move to the next item on the agenda." Anabelle had suspected as much. She had no dislike of them though, it was simply how things were.

Anabelle managed, though with help from -Insert whatever player character wants to be involved-. Her true recovery time was nearly a year, but Anabelle at least tried her best to adapt to her new situation. She did so without complaint, with most of her pay going towards her friend who helped her.

—————
Offensive Claymore

Technique: Rending Aura
Anabelle's yoki aura is particularly rough and sticks easily to others. Using this to her advantage, Anabelle coats her sword in it, and as soon as she makes contact with an enemy, she floods their body with her yoki. When she disengages, she rips it back to herself, shredding yoki aura from an opponent. Sadly, she is unable to absorb it herself, but being blocked by Anabelle causes one to tire quickly, and increases cooldown for techniques in a subtle manner. Against Yoma, Anabelle tends to count cooldown between attacks, and wait for an enemy to fall into a pattern before disrupting it, and attacking them when they would use a technique.

(Secondary technique: Blindsight, Anabelle is forced to rely on her yoki sensing abilities and other senses to tell where an enemy is.)

-Mallory the Merciful-

Rank: 34

Appearance:

1634161894550.png
(Mallory’s visage is often described as ethereal, causing most to view her with adoration swiftly followed by fear once they behold her silver eyes. Her figure is incredibly lithe and she has an oft described aura of fragility attributed to her despite carrying a claymore on her back.)

Age: She appears to be in her late twenties/early thirties.

Personality: Both inquisitive and compassionate by nature, Mallory often exudes a warmth that isn’t often associated with Claymores. A warm smile on her face is the first thing to greet most who catch her attention followed by a silent greeting in the form of a small wave. Despite her attempts to be as friendly and welcoming as possible most humans spend as little time with her as possible simply due to her status as a Claymore, much to her dismay.

When actively engaged Mallory speaks with the utmost respect to whomever she converses with and will always defer to others unless it involves Yoma. To the few who look past her mixed blood, Mallory is an incredibly attentive and caring woman. Often making small talk and offering aid as long as it doesn’t get in the way of her job. She has a soft spot for older siblings and will often offer words of encouragement to them.

In the company of other Claymores, Mallory naturally falls into a subservient role if any of the other women show signs of vying for leadership. Despite her meek behavior she is quick to give advice and offer alternative solutions if she believes they are the best course of action. In dire straits Mallory is more than willing to take a leadership role but only if she feels her allies are in danger of falling due to incompetence, a rare occurrence only caused by arrogant Claymores.

In combat Mallory’s smile fades and a melancholic expression falls over her, the warmth in her eyes quickly cools into an icy gaze, as the woman genuinely prays for a swift and painless end to the Yoma at her blade. She believes the Yoma are truly pitiful creatures, prisoners to their carnal desires without any hope of breaking free of them.

Backstory: Mallory was born in the city of Chetvertia and lived a rather uneventful life. Her father was often too busy to spend any time with her and her mother would often ignore her to attend social gatherings. This left Mallory to depend on her older sister who would always watch over and dote upon her. The duo were inseparable and where one was found the other would be just meters away.

Despite the stringent security of the city a Yoma had managed to infiltrated the city with a trade caravan and had begun hunting within the city. Her parents and sister were among its first victims. Mallory only survived due to her sister forcing her to jump out a second story window and into a pile of rubbish that broke her fall. Eventually the Yoma was hunted down and slain, but with her family butchered Mallory was sent east with the caravan responsible for bringing the Yoma within the city.

At some point in her travels east, Mallory caught the eye of the Organization and was selected to undergo their training. Mallory struggled to keep up with most of the other trainee’s but displayed an impressive amount of willpower and always managed to bounce back from any setback. She got along easily with other trainees and would often act as a source of support and inspiration for those who felt disheartened at times during the training.

By the time her training had reached its end Mallory had come to the realization that while she may never be the strongest Claymore within the organization, she would instead strive to be the best defender of humanity she could be. For as long as possible of course, as she knew that eventually even her iron grip on her humanity would weaken to the point of losing to the Yoma blood flowing through her veins.

—————

Defensive Type

Special Technique: Heightened Regeneration (Canon ability of Deneve)

Fighting Style: Mallory relies on her speed and swordsmanship to deal with Yoma, both afraid and reluctant to rely on the Yoma blood coursing through her. Despite this she has recognized that completely suppressing her Yoki would only be hindering herself unnecessarily. So she has resolved to use her Yoki in the least aggressive way possible, to heal herself from fatal and crippling wounds.

Name: Asteria Tahden

Rank: 31

Appearance:
Petite, short, and demure; Asteria is “famous” for being the smallest Warrior of her generation, standing at an unusually short (for a Claymore) height of 5'1. She has long blonde hair worn in a low ponytail, large silver eyes, and a heart-shaped face. She is often teased by her fellow Warriors as being the “Cutie Claymore.”

cc.jpg
Theme Song: (F.E.A.R. [OST] #01 - Intro)

Age: 21

Personality: For the few that manage to get past Asteria's initial hesitance and fear of social interaction; she is almost painfully kind, caring, and selfless. Believing that her role as a Warrior was punishment placed onto her as repentance for the selfishness of her family. She works hard to be considered a “good Warrior” despite lacking the anger, aggression, and pride that often fuels her fellow “sisters.” Perhaps the strangest thing about the small woman is that unlike almost every single other Claymore, she has no hatred or great desire to slay Yoma. Only fulfilling her duties in order to be considered “good.”

After being rescued by the Organization, Asteria plunged into her new harsh life style seeking meaning and purpose in her existence. She greatly struggled during the beginning of her new life with almost every aspect of the cruel training. Her naturally passive nature and lack of raw physical strength made her an assumed weakling. However after painful struggle, her worth would be noticed thanks to a fairly impressive ability to manipulate and sense Yoki, decent agility, and a unique style of swordsmanship. Additional she is one of the most educated of the Warriors, having received a noble's education in reading, writing, and mathematics.

To the amusement of her fellow Warriors, and the great annoyance of her Handlers; Asteria fears lie not in battle, death, Yoma, or even Awakening... but in common humans. The small Warrior would rather fight alone against several Awakened Beings than talk with a simple village council about the required payment for her services. Her unintimidating appearance for a “Silvered Eyed Witch” makes her phobia even worst as many of the braver villagers often wander up to her and ask questions. When interacting with a single human or two, she is (usually) able to mumble a shy reply back to them. Against a large crowd of humans (or a single particularly angry farmer) she is rendered near mute. She has no issues dealing with her fellow Warriors; besides perhaps being on the shyer side and taking criticism like a puppy kicked by it's normally kind owner.

Backstory: Born to a well-to-do family, Asteria's childhood was idealistic for the first dozen years of her life. Her parents were minor nobles (the Tahden) that doted on their only child. The small girl wanted for nothing, and knew only of contented happiness. If there was any fault in her early life it was that her parents were over-protective. Never letting their daughter leave the protective iron gates of the family's manor, and allowing only tutors to interact with the sheltered and gleefully cheery child.

Harsh times hit the Tahden's family small plot of land and villages. Yoma attacks, plague, and a bad harvest season, was all it took for the minor noble family and their serfs to descend into unavoidable ruin. Refusing to allow their way of life or daughter to be affected by the troubling times, the Tahdens raised the taxes on their vassals, driving many poorer families to starvation. The increased taxation was successful; the young daughter never knew about the dark times the fiefdom was suffering. The Tahden family's way of living was unaffected by the dying peasants outside their iron gates, and the beloved daughter continued her education in ignorant peace.

Rebellion lit suddenly and violently.

Asteria remembers little of this time besides the terror, confusion, and madness. Her home invaded by strange people in strange clothes; angry, yelling, and grabbing. Her mother and father taken away screaming, begging, and then silenced. She remembers the pain as children her own age beat her into unconsciousness, and waking up in the burnt ruins of her home. Catatonic, traumatized, and afflicted with a crushing pain, both inside and out, that she never before could have imagined exist in the world. She wandered the ruined grounds of her home for three days. Until a man in black came.

Ed8_WscXYAE3lrp.jpg

Defensive Type

Special Technique: Hazy Sword

A combination of a defensive sword style and unique Yoki manipulation ability. Asteria surrounds the area around herself with a “mist of Yoki.” This mist greatly increases her perception of the area immediately surrounding her (about 25ft) acting as an extension of her nervous system. It allows her to "feel" and instinctively react to any attack even when she cannot see it. Combined with a defensive, rotating, and flowing sword style; Asteria can deflect and counterattack most attacks, even if the ones attacking her do so from concealed positions, in greater numbers, with moderately more speed and strength than she possesses.

387664-6b3b2328abbbb65bc1460cbc0e03cd81.jpg
Hazy Sword Theme: (F.E.A.R. [OST] #02 - Inception)

This technique requires her to steadily release Yoki. This requires great concentration and endurance on Asteria's part. She must release 20% of her Yoki to activate the mist and can currently only maintain the technique for 30 seconds. She is unable to use the ability if she has released more the 50% of her Yoki. Additional the ability has little benefit if Asteria's body is too slow to shift away from an exceptionally fast attack, or if she is unable to dodge or parry a particularly strong blow.

She developed the two techniques after accepting she would never be as physically strong or aggressive as the other Warriors. Abandoning the prospects of building up her raw strength, she focused on a style of fighting suited for her passive and accepting nature. The combination of the Yoki mist, and sword techniques focusing on an almost acquiescent defense, becomes an ethereal dance of fluid and graceful movements. Turning defense into offense, and using an enemy's own aggressive strength and force against them.

Elizabeth

Rank: 39

Appearance:

d8605e9874b44a66d6d456e4e0ccb203.jpg

Hair of grey blondeness, and eyes of silver. It is to be expected of a claymore. She is tall, hearty, strong, and very found of utilizing metal plates in her defence.

Age: 54

Personality: As a claymore, one is expected to have a certain set of values, strengths, weaknesses that you need to snuff. In Eliza's case, her strength would be her staying power and ability to keep doing her job at a regular rate whilst being generall acceptable at it.

He weakness is that she takes her damn time doing it! And thats generally how she lives her life, even if it's her technically second one, and the Yoma stuff is in the back of her mind like an itch you can't scratch, she decides to simply... Do whats asked of her, and do it well, at her pace.

And she has little in the way of formality... And comes off as abit lazy... She has forever to do her work after all, may as well do it right and with steady pace. Let others rush ahead, shes gotta keep on.

Backstory: What was her life before the organization?

Well.

She was this close to being married, she was a fighting woman to be sure, but sure as hell her daddy wanted her to settle. The guy was decent, handsome, brawny, so she didn't mind even if he was abit chubby. To bad the Yoma liked him too. Her damn day ruined by those bastards and lo and behold, rest of the family eaten up. Only luck kept her alive and kickin, and luck got her into the organization'a hands.

Course, when the name was dropped she volunteered full on. She'd be damned if she'd let any Yoma live after that stunt!

...Now shes got a long damn stitch to keep sealed, a boat load of strength, skill with a sword tempered over the years and... Well... She does hate Yoma, hates em to the core. And shes seen some friends come and go, but the hell if shes gonna give up!

Wierdly folks gave her a name, she isn't sure about it, but, hey, folks talk.

"Easy Liz."

Guess it works, even if it makes her sound like she does her work in a brothel...

—————

Offensive: "I am a monster slayer, I slay monsters. Tell me, are you a monster?"

At times, when a Claymore is created, they gain little in terms of Yoki related power. Perhaps it is latent, pehaps they are simply a dud. Or, in this case, the power went elsewhere. She was always a capable swordsman, but she was but a normal human so long ago. Now, now her strength has no compare. And now even a glancing blow is a full execution.

Special Technique: Singing Sword, a mixture of muscle work and simply being far too strong, the user causes their sword to vibrate. This movement aids in slicing of targets with a great deal of flesh to cut through and makes guarding such strikes severly unpleasant as the vibrations course through.

The effect causes an audible effect, the resonance causing the sword to "Sing."

Name: Arina

Rank: 35

Appearance: Arina is around 6’8” with a claymore almost as tall as she is. She is well built and wears a torn traditional claymore outfit. Bandages wrap around her arms and torso as she always seems to be trying to heal from some kind of wound. Her body is covered with scars with most of them being on her head and face. Her right ear is missing and the right side of her face is burned. She has a mop of naturally curly blonde hair that covers most of her face and scars. Her eyes have a thousand yard stare and have a slight natural tint of gold even without her using her yoma power. She carries her claymore by the blade and has gauntlets on each of her hands to 'protect the claymore from her grip'. On her right shoulder is a young puppy of only a couple weeks old where you can’t really tell what breed he is. They are very energetic and like interacting with people, even other claymores. They have a secure saddle sewn into Arina’s clothing allowing them to travel with them. Arina has yet to encounter a yoma while having this dog.

Arina.jpg
(WIP)
Age: 26-34

Personality: Doesn’t say much but is very protective of other claymores. Her Yoma power is one that allows her to be a bit more reckless than usual so putting her own body on the line is not something that she is concerned about. She loves her dog. Intense fear of fire.

Backstory: Arina much like other claymores was a young girl with a happy loving family. Like most claymores, that didn’t last very long. It was sudden, no way to understand or stop it from happening. A fire broke out somewhere in her house, her entire family died in their sleep as their house burned around them, when the fire reached them Arina can remember their screams as she hid in her closet, terrified for her own life. Sooner or later the smoke got to her head and she fell unconscious, the organization was the first to find her and took her away before any of the townspeople knew she was alive. [more information here will be fleshed out once I read more of the manga] As a claymore Arina was tasked with dealing with small groups of Yoma. She never really worked well in groups nor did she work well fighting groups of Yoma. She was a claymore that really only worked in scenarios where there were only 1 or 2 Yoma. She’s been with the organization for around 11-18ish years now. Never really climbing the ranks being content with what she does. Her power is the only reason she is even alive to this very day.

Defensive Type: Self Jumpstart - If Arina would suffer fatal damage Arina ‘dies’. However after an amount of time passes and her head is relatively alright Arina’s body will jumpstart itself back to life with Yoma power. This does not treat Arina’s wounds, it only heals what is necessary to move (her skeleton and vital organs) and her other wounds have to be treated by herself.

Special Technique or Fighting Style: Sword Throwing. Arina’s base fighting style is chucking her claymore at a target, following behind it and then following up on the initial pierce. Whether that means plunging it in deeper or ripping it out depends on the situation.
