Character sheet

Name (Including any titles)-

Age-

Sex-

Appearance-

Home- Tell us about the nation you come from, you won’t be able to directly control them but I’ll use elements I like to inform the games story and setting so it’s its interesting and balanced expect your ideas to show up.

History- Tell us you’re story, the experiences that shaped you as a person and the events that lead you to this position in life.

Faction- Tell us about the people you lead, what are they like and what are they capable of and how they came to be in the city? Note that most people in your faction won’t be natives to your home state, the Iron Lion isn’t that dumb, they’ll be loyal to the city first but they respect you as well.

Personal power- Something you can do related to your guild but without requiring other people, examples include the ability to invest in a local business or negotiate prices if you’re in charge of merchants.

Faction power- Something you can order your men to do, for example having spies spy on someone or instructing workers to build special things for you.

Example Character-

Name (Including any titles)- F. Lerronix The Iron Lion

Age- 56

Sex- Male

Appearance- Slightly hunched and red in most places with a greying beard billowing out from various face places. He wears a suit a size or two too thin with a top hat and spectacles.

Home- Far away and long ago is all people know about where Lerronix came from, it’s the home he build for himself he’s famous for. The black shining walls that tower over local moors and mark it out of the coast line, it’s fairly small as cities go but every densely packed with steam constantly coming from somewhere or another. The city bears the marks of an attack or two but it’s withstood even in its short history, the main gate is adorned with the symbol of its father, the lion statue sits atop the walls watching. It’s reliant on trade with other states for food, the local land isn’t particularly fertile and the weather is mostly pants occasionally intermittently not so pants.

History- He don’t like to talk about before, but get him talking about how he discovered his steam machines and be prepared for a tale of adventure romance and calculus that sound mostly made up especially the maths, what’s important is that the stories aren’t set anywhere local, he just came out of nowhere and turned what had been a small fishing village into a smoking black jewel.

Faction- The engineers are famous for being a collection of exiles and dregs who couldn’t make it in other places, they’ve sworn off any of their homes, they build fast and effectively though there are stories that some members are at least a little evil or mad, but the guild prefers the word fearlessly curious.

Personal power- Lions Roar

The Iron Lion can settle a tie vote, nominate his successor and remove another person’s legal protection making killing or stealing from them completely legal.

Faction power- Build it better

Engineers can build faster than anyone else, but what’s really interesting is their ability to upgrade existing structures in the world, the sort of boost that could make a stale mate out in the wider world much more decisive.

Name- Major Rodger Grey "Steely Grey"

Age- 37

Sex- Male

Appearance- He is a stern man, with set brown eyes. In the back Rodger adorns a tight brown haircut. Across his right cheek is a long scar from a canon ball.

Home- The Kingdom of Anglium, a land where military might and banking show great providence. Ruled by a fair, but strict king, it is a highly conservative nation. Their military is strong and is in almost constant wars, but making sure not to overwhelm itself. Trade and Finance flow almost undelayed, almost a perfect system.
Almost, Anglium is filled with robbery and piracy on the roads and open seas. It has been a pestering problem throughout the Kingdom's history. Anglium searches for a technology to end the constant crime rate, and with the aid of other factions, Anglium is reaching ever so close. Rodger comes from a small town called Monty, some consider it almost a hamlet. It is a cozy, calm, little place where military retirees come to live out their final days.

History- Rodger lived as a farm boy, tending the crops. His father was a rifleman in the Anglium Army, during an engangement he lost his arm, medically discharging him. He became a farmer, married and had a child, Rodger. Rodger's father was very fond of his son, whenever they went to the local market Rodger was an excellent bargainer, never backing down. He grew up this way, always holding his own in a fight, standing up for what he believed in. He used intimidation and careful reasoning as his weapons. At the age of 16 Rodger enlisted in the Anglium Army, as did his father, grandfather, and so on before him. He took up a different field than his father, a
commission as an officer. He fought many a battles and hunted highwaymen for a few years. His superiors seeing his ability to make men do as he say without second thought, any argument of sorts to be ended without brawl, and the stern steeliness about him decided to use him negotiations between Military commanders and other diplomatic dealings. Through this line of work he rose to a prominent position, earning him his ticket to the city.

Faction- Angliums, the Red people as they like to be called. They run the banks, and most of the military complement is also Red. Reds don't take kindly to robbers and some times go mobbing the streets on captured criminals. They keep to their own but are open to other factions.
Ambitious and Rigid, a phrase commonly used to describe their people. And one good tip about dealing with Reds, don't ever cross one, you will forever regret your mistake.

Personal power- The Man of Steel

Major Grey does not back down, ever. Whether it be a fight, debate, or deal, Rodger will never give up. Whenever he starts something, he will go to any cost to make it happen.

Faction power- Silver and Sword

Steely Grey is a man who has the support of his people, the promise of finance and force. Sometimes debts and loans can just 'disappear' as do some scuffles inside the city.

Whoops, didn't realize character sign up part of threads were a thing. I'm so sorry. D:

I'll remove my sheet in the other section once it has been changed into the start of the actual RP.

Oh, and also, anything in italics are things that is supposed to be secret.

Name (Including any titles):

Sir Mateus Dia, the Golden Knight, formerly Viscount Dia.
Nowadays, he is just referred to as the Crimson Knight.

Age:

29
. Hard to tell, due to him hiding his identity.

Sex:

Male.

Appearance:

Mateus is tall and muscular, but not brutish. He has dark brown hair that’s kept short for convenient. It gets hot in an armour, after all. His eyes are russet, and appear almost red in some lights, though it is a common colour for those of his heritage to have. He has olive skin, and a rather large scar going on the side of his left eye, between it and his nose. The rest of his body is covered in small cuts and scars as well, as he has spent most of his life training for fighting and fighting in battles. He wears simple clothes, often black.

What he shows people, however, is a grey suit of armour with a helmet hiding his face. The front of the helmet can be pushed up to reveal his face, but he doesn’t actually use it for anything but drinking or eating, and the helmet is longer in the back to allow for head movement.

tumblr_nfcyboXHMU1tslewgo1_500.jpg

The armour itself covers his entire body, a pair of dark gauntlets being the only thing he removes in public. It has some intricate details, and he often a dark red cape. He speaks in a distinct manner, cynical and concise, and he is a rather intimidating figure. He also brings his weapons, twin curved blades which he dual-wields, to any meeting he can.

Home:

Aphani is a small costal nation in the south that has been trying to expand for several decades. It is centuries old, an established monarchy with a long running tradition of having close ties with its neighbours, and taking on those it does not have any ties to. It is currently run by a middle-aged king who is at war with a nearby nation, unwilling to settle before the area there is owned by Aphani. The people living there are referred to as Aphans, and are known to be a proud and serious, but also political driven people, who enjoys sociality and academia. It has some of the largest universities (obviously the medieval version). They trade in items such as fish and sand, as well as a special golden colour that hasn’t been recreated by any other nation. It doesn’t have a navy despite its location, instead relying on a large wall and a powerful force on land.

History:

A passionate person born into a small family with an unimportant title, Mateus wanted to become a knight and serve king from a very young age. Exceptionally gifted in the arts of warfare, he was trained by the king’s right hand man, who had been a knight since young age. He became a squire at age 12, and was knighted at age 18, after a rather decisive victory in the West, which he helped contribute to. Eventually, he moved to the royal court, leaving his lands for his family to use, and fell in love with the kingdom’s only princess.

It soon became a common fact that the princess, Arlene, and the young Mateus liked each other –though the more intimate details were a very well kept secret- and though he wished to propose to her, he knew that he would have to become someone worthy of a princess. Throwing himself into battles and tournaments, he did whatever he could to advance his standings, hoping to obtain a title and esteem that the king would accept. For years he did nothing but fight and train, trying to play the game of societies and the court while chiefly dedicating himself to warfare. While his reputation grew, it was still not enough.

Eventually, time ran out, as the princess became engaged to a prince from a far-off country, fair headed and handsome, someone who could barely hold a sword, but had been born to lead a country. On the day before the wedding, Mateus forced the man out during the middle of the night, challenging him to a duel for Arlene’s hand. Instead of accepting the challenge, the prince mocked Mateus, believing that the knight would not attack an unarmed man, especially not one that was the prince of another nation. Mateus proved him wrong with one swing of his blade, brutally murdering the prince in the spur of the moment.

Everything changed after that. He had to say goodbye to a tearful princess Arlene, who cursed him for dooming himself, therefore “murdering” the man she loved. He was going to be executed, but the king’s advisor, the one who had trained Mateus, knew it would be a waste to kill him. Instead, they faked his execution, and rode him out of the nation during the night. He was not to let anyone know who he was, and always obscure his face in public. The most important thing, however, was that he could never write or talk to Arlene again, forcing him to let her live believing he was dead. It has been some painful years, and he cannot bring himself to get close to people. He misses Arlene more than anything else, and thus acts aloof and cold in regards to others, a way to try to keep himself from losing everything he has gained in a moment of passion, yet again.

No one really knows who the knight is, or how he appeared. 7 years ago, seemingly from nowhere, the Alphani kingdom suddenly had a new champion. His reputation is that of a brutal, if quiet knight, willing to take anyone head on. There is seemingly no other information about who he is, though it has been noted by foreign powers that the king seems to trust him entirely. The Crimson Knight is the Alphani king’s diplomat and representative in Iron Lion’s city, as well as the head of the Noble Swords’ guild, which he was given the permission to create by the Iron Lion. Handpicking small nobles from foreign families –none of which are from Alphani- who were willing to pick up a blade and gain honour through different means than bowing to a king.

Faction:

The Noble Swords. It is a small mercenary guild, consisting of foreign nobles who wish to take up the sword for honour and favour rather than money, though of course, the money helps. While not having a lot of people, it is still a faction that is well known within the town, perhaps especially for the sheer force of intimidation they bring. They all have been specially handpicked and trained by Alphani, and respect him. Some of them even know what he looks like, though, since none of them knew him from before, that doesn’t say a lot.

Personal power:

The Crimson Knight is a skilled and trained fighter, capable of taking out foes much larger than him. He’s aggressive and direct, prideful and a force to be reckoned with. On one hand, this means he’s intimidating and strong, making him difficult to deal with if you try to take him out by force, and threatening him won’t go down well. On the other hand, it is also quite clear that he’s not fond of going around whispering or increasing his own power, and he’s loyal to those who request his aid, akin to a contract, though obviously first and foremost loyal to the king of Alphani.

Faction power:

To those who deserve or order its service, the faction is willing to do a lot, in silence, often, going as far as taking prisoners or brutally murdering whoever stands in its way. Intimidation and influence is also a big part of it. That said, it relies on a code of honour, which includes not murdering children or those who no longer wish to fight, though they are not inclined to spare those who have killed one of their own.

Steely Grey is a man who has the support of his people, the promise of finance and force. Sometimes debts and loans can just 'disappear' as do some scuffles inside the city.
This is too strong, we should probably make a distinction between having muskets and cannons for your home nation.

As for you're character I'm going to force you to make a few tough decisions

-You can't have both control of a bank and an army, there's already a military based submission from Awesomehne so you could have a financial power, alternatively a smaller specialist force for example a very small group of snipers (if you want to be musket specialists)

- Not being able to back down isn't really a power, It's got potential to be an interesting personality trait but it's not really a power and only useful for not giving up when people torture you. It feels like something that would rub other people the wrong way and it's just something you could role play out. A personal power could be something like owning a rifle or a large pile of gold.

-Writing off debt has a bunch of neat implications, or maybe a fancy file-o-fax full of business contacts or people specifically watching the markets. But as it stands the current form is too vague and broad and you won't be able to just write off scuffles unless you're playing a dedicated police force.

Faction-Union of Officers is a 'Guild' housing most of the de-comisioned Officers around the realm which belives a Strict Order led by a Stratocracy is the best solution for the problems of modern day. Most of the members work as Instructors to the City's guards or Mercenary groups. They are also the Biggest Financiers of the Military-Industrial Complex. They generally try to avoid conflict with any other 'Guilds' and stay out of their Buissness, but they are Ambitious about Politics of the City and Controling its Economy.so any one crossing their path are going to be in some trouble.

Personal power-Cevdet Pasha is a skilled Commander and Strategist and an expert swordsman, although he is a bit rusted because of his age.He is best at talking his way out rather than fighting, even though he will not hesitate to kill anyone he despises un-necesarry violance,he is also a good Diplomat because of his negotiation skills and Friendly Nature even to the lowest of the Peasants.

Faction power-The Union is mostly Isolated, but they do have a big Spy web in the City thanks to their connection with Military and bribes, they also have accses to a good amount of money because they are The the Financiers or Owners of Most of the Work shops and Factories that specialize in Military Gear they maintain High standing relations with City Guards and Military thanks to that.
There's the similar issues to the ones I talked about above there's too much power and not enough specialization especially when we have several people who want to be in charge of the military and finances of a city state which only really has the population for a small military anyway it would help if you wanted to try and fill another role. It doesn't help your personal power is very similar to someone else's. You mention both the city guard and spies both of which are open positions if you'd like to try filling one of those.

I don't think I fully understand what your saying, I'd recommend giving the whole thing another pass but from what i do understand you also want to be in charge of a military power which is something there's only room for one person to do that. Not to mention someone who can take on 1000 people by themselves is pretty over powered when your characters are meant to be relying on both each other and the people you're in charge of. Part of the point is that would can't manage on your own or be a jack of all trades units, after all this is power someone's given you in their own city they aren't going to want you to have too much.

I'm ok with your home not having been invaded for ages but that's really not going to last long once the rp starts there's way to much potential for interesting stories there and making your nation untouchable would be way too dull.

I like this it feels pretty reasonable and balanced and I have a pretty clear idea of how you want to specialist. Extra hooks to back home are going to bite you in the ass later but I'm pretty sure you expected that so glad to have you on board

About the military thing... actually, I have an independent small force of mercenaries, which is different from a military, so someone (whoever) having a military force would be fine. I do agree that it should be a bit varied between people, though, and controlling the banks or even a police-force are both cool ideas.

I'm glad you liked my sheet, and if you want to screw me over with hooks from home, go ahead :P I'll take the challenge :P . (I'll be the punching bag, won't I?)

  • Name: Kahlat'rahna Tide-Reader, The would be chieftain.

    Age: 30

    Sex: Female

Appearance: Kal sports the dark complexion and pronounced bone structure of the Clanic people, including a long but slender nose and high cheekbones. Her thick chestnut hair is usually kept tied back in a loose ponytail or braid with turquoise and amber beads from her homeland, though much of her hair is still worn high and forward in a seemingly effortless windswept look. The kind of effortless that takes months of practice to perfect. Her brows are naturally thick and heavy but since coming to the city though she's gotten a big taste for the fashions of other cultures and now plucks them into a fine nice shape, and that's all your getting with regards to her hair maintenance rituals, you want more you better be getting cozy.

So as has been said Kal likes to treat herself and to look fine, but this must be balanced out by the practical if she's to keep up with her work. So she forgoes dresses and tight corsets for the comfort and space of light cotton shirts, usually the white kind that billow about her slim frame in the breeze like gull wings. That, some tight trousers and sturdy leather boots tend to make the base of any outfit she decides to wear, along with some thick leather gloves should she need to get her hands dirty. That's just for the out and about stuff though, for council matters and fancy meetings we have to look to her navy blue admiral's frock coat, complete with tails and copper trim. She didn't want gold, it was too gaudy for her taste. That's enough on her wardrobe for now, if we go any further we'll be here all day.

As you may have guessed Miss Tide-Reader fancies herself something of a swashbuckler and she carries herself just like one. Swaggering as she walks with curvy hips swinging and a perpetual look of smug confidence on her face like a house cat made human. She is not a shy woman but nor is she loud... all the time. Swinging between being the cocky layabout to a manic woman of action, though neither dominant side is all that serious. Kal doesn't seem to take anything seriously and cracks jokes in even the grimmest times, usually ones with poor taste.

Home: The Clanic lands lie far to the west of everywhere fun and interesting, slithering their way across the maps like a worm as it clings to the coast. A home carved from the cliffs, rising from the ever shifting sands and ebbing tides. Where the sharks roam like the bison of the grass lands and the gulls claim their nests in the wild places that even eagles dare not reach for. This is the home of the Coastal Clans. Get it? See they call themselves the clans so they just name the place the- yes it's as dull there as the lackluster imagination of the tribal bag of bones that named the place! And it is that kind of thinking that urged Kahlat'rahna to leave. The Clanic lands are beautiful to look at at least, bright blue waters, stunning rock formations, there's no denying their splendor.

But these are a lands left in the dust of the march of progress. There is no formal government to speak of, only a collection of chiefs and elders that keep an fluid peace between the clans. Not always successfully as they have been known to skirmish over their differences and supposedly they have some big civil wars in the annals of their history. What unites the clans is the threat of external forces and the antiquated ways of their ancestors. For they shall honour the ancestors! Doing that and seeking harmony with the great ones that live beneath the sea and in the sky are what forms their primitive religion, complete with vision walks and animal sacrifices. It's the ingrained need to preserve their homeland that has kept the coasts and their waters in good condition but the clans are incredibly far behind all their neighbors, with their most advanced works being things they've managed to either scavenge or trade for. This hasn't gone unnoticed either, as the bordering nations have began moving to "Settle" the Clanic lands and "Tame" their savage occupants, giving them the "Gifts" of modern society. Kal may mock her people's ways and revel in the benefits of scientific advances but she argues that it was her choice to do so, this was not forced on her like it is back home and though she claims to no longer care about the place she left behind... the news does rise some bitterness in her. Only she gets to talk about the crab fishing idiots that way.

History: Tide-Reader was born the daughter of the Flowing Sands Clan. Even from a young age she was a tempestuous little girl. Wind spirits must have breathed life into her, or so people said. By her teenage years she had already ran the length of her clan's territory and explored every nook and cranny in the cliffs, climbed every rock and taken to the sea. She didn't really have a favorite but there was always glory to be gained from riding the waves in the nimble little boats of the clan, claiming dangerous catches with the traditional spear of driftwood and shark bone. For Kal, the horizon was always calling and she hoped that one day her clan might follow her to answer its call.

No such luck though, as Kal's father passed away and instead of passing the torch to her the mantle of chief was given to just another block head who liked to fish... and not much else. It shouldn't have surprised her really, as if a woman could earn a place of standing in the clans beyond healer lady or mad old crone that claimed to hear voices. Sick of this stagnant way of living, Kal set off to travel across the blue road (her own name for the ocean). She took her own boat and supplies and managed to convince some of the dregs of her clan to follow her. Together they explored some of the nearby "civilized" nations, hiring themselves out as sailors and deckhands. If the clans could claim fame for one thing it was their ability to handle the sea and they were quickly snapped up for chump change by a canny captain. Leading Kal to the life of exploration and adventure that she had always craved, as well as teaching her about the universal language of trade. She may have also partaken in some acts of piracy- but let's not dwell on that, it's not important, there's a steam powered city to get to!

A few years later and Kal was captaining her own pack of ships. It was at the head of her own cadre of frigates and sloops that she came to the Iron Lion's domain, having sought out this steam powered place of wonder. It was here that she saw a sorely missed opportunity to harness the nearby bay and naval routes. Well, a life on the waves is fun when you're young but Kal was getting old to run up and down the sea all the time, so she deemed it time to settle down and went about claiming herself a seat on the council as a representative for the Clanic peoples. The clans had little to say on the matter.

  • Name: Alexei Firatis

    Age:
    29

    Sex: Male

Appearance: The Randirian people's looks run heavily in Alexei, with their light but tanned skin and slightly tall faces and deep brown eyes. As is the norm in Randir, he has his brown hair a few inches long and left to settle however it pleases. Because of his time traveling and also in schooling he wears a practical yet reasonably formal dark blue tunic edged in lighter blue thread. His rough, calloused hands show his years of ship work and the dark tan of his skin speaks of countless hours in the summer sun.

When walking he holds himself straight backed and proper, but he keeps his gait slightly relaxed in the knees, as if he is constantly on edge waiting for something unexpected to arrive.

History: Alexei was born to a trading family working out of one of the more major cities in Randir. His mother died in childbirth and he was an only child, so it was only ever him and his father. Like many children in the city, he grew up in and around the boats of his hometown, often working on them for pocket money hauling crates or doing short voyages, and he loved the freedom and excitement of new lands. When Alexei wasn't working on ships he was bookkeeping for his father's finances on his deals, and this way quickly learned numbers and the dealings of marketplaces. However, when he was fifteen, Alexei discovered inconsistencies in the numbers he entered, with sums disappearing and goods strangely ending up in the wrong port with no mention of incorrect actions.

While investigating into these strange dealings, Alexei discovered that his father had slowly but steadily been skimming money off the top of deals and cheating taxes for years to get his riches, and the morale dilemma that followed tore him apart: should he betray his father's trust and turn him in, or just allow the dealings to continue and turn a blind eye? Eventually, his hand was forced when an investigation began into his father's shady dealings. In exchange for a testimony that his father was guilty, he would be enrolled in one of the upper class academies of Randir, and get another chance. His hard discovery made him sympathetic towards criminals, often lobbying for lighter punishments for more minor crimes as he knew that one person's mistakes could easily tear apart their friends and family's lives without reason, even if they had no part in the crimes.

Taking the offer after much deliberation, he was transported to the capital where he was trained both mentally and physically for the arts of trading, diplomacy, naval matters, and general traveling. He excelled in his classes, especially in diplomacy, and when he graduated at twenty he was assigned to one of the few government-owned trading posts outside of Randir as a negotiator of new trade routes throughout the nations. In this job he traveled far and wide by horseback, and dealt with people of all types negotiating deals for everything from animal skins to fine silks, and he loved it, being able to make big things happen with just words, an exhilarating dance of proposals and changes where every step was a vital one, and so he was the type of man willing to converse about and argue a point until the end of the day if it meant he could get a better deal.

After multiple years at that job, the government decided to become involved with the new nation headed up by the Iron Lion. Seeing him as a valuable diplomat, along with a new batch of school students being graduated that year who could take his place, he was sent to be the ambassador for Randir, and represent them in front of the Iron Lion.

Personal power: With all the deals he's made and merchants he's dealt with, Alexei has contacts that he can call on to line up definite deals with other ambassadors and the Iron Lion.

For my faction effect is as long as my faction was entrusted in some productions the production rate can be increased, naturally they are often used as a messenger or combat because of high mobility and well-trained. If not entrusted then the production increase effect will not be applied.

So along with Awesomehne that's 4 people I'll keep it open for new people or to give people who have submitted sheets I've said things about but haven't heard back from a chance to respond. No one else is guaranteed a place so feel free to invite other people to try.

Again sorry for the delay I've just had a lot of both work and social events pilled up recently.
