LORE OF IRRIDIS[/border]
The kingdom of Irridis has existed in the depths of the ocean for thousands of years. Humans have chanced upon some of the citizens, and now refer to them as merpeople.
The kingdom used to be peaceful, until the death of King Tero 700 years ago. His two twin sons, Kiedros and Rizen, were summoned to his deathbed before he passed. Tero declared Kiedros was the new heir, to Rizen's surprise. Rizen had always surpassed his brother in fighting and military tactics, and he quickly questioned his father. Teros simply told his son he was unfit to be a king, since he was cruel and merciless, which were none of the qualities a good ruler needed. Rizen left in anger, and instead of attending the ritual of passage, He prayed to the sea demon, Naga, and asked her to aid in his revenge against his brother. Nage agreed, and gave him a black pearl that gave him black magic. In exchange she took his soul. With the pearl, Rizen became powerful and immortal. He could taint merpeople with the same black magic he was infused with and they became his minions, called the Skree. They were fearsome warriors who could only be defeated by being decapitated. Rizen launched an attack on Irridis a few decades later, and successfully killed his brother, but was captured by a old mage who exiled him in the deepest trench, Centuries passed, and Rizen soon became nothing more than a myth and a bedtime story young mer children were told so they would stop acting foolish. Rizen's followers were never seen after that until recently. Attacks by merpeople with dark powers was becoming more and more frequent. Citizens of Irridis are trying to dismiss them as nothing but an increase in the sea monsters that lurk in the depths, but it won't change the fact Rizen is free and biding his time to strike.

So basically its a city like Atlantis or whatever, and there is the good side, the citizens of the city, and Rizen and the Skree. You can either be a Skree or a citizen, but im allowing people to play other things if they wish if they don't necessarily want to be a merperson. You can have a power as long as it corresponds with what side your on. I might make a character, but mostly I'll play Rizen and cause tension with creatures of the sea, etc. Hopefully I get people involved!
