General Information: An economic superpower at its heart, Sanctum is the thriving democracy that dominates the western hemisphere of Oceana. This capitalist empire has established itself on three continents named Lucia, Vexus, and Avena. Democracy rules over these lands in a very royal fashion, consisting of three councils that pass laws and declare government action across the world. Detail of the democracy will be included deeper into this section.
Sanctum is most infamous for its cities, boasted as the most beautiful cities in the world. The envy of the world, Their cities float across oceans, and float in the skies. One notable trait of their cities is how Sanctum loves to show off it's thriving economy and technology by building plenty of tall, flashy white buildings with the cramped areas of cities, while displaying vast amounts of advanced technology in their daily lives. Water is also a common display, artificial rivers and plenty of fountains are always a common sight in Sanctum cities. Very spoiled are the people of Sanctum, with almost no poverty or lower class, they always display flashy, stylish, and interesting clothing that speaks out about their lifestyle.
Overall Sanctum is a very intellectual, and superficial culture. The people speak a wide variety of accents, and culture is more shifted toward individual accomplishment, and independence. However, it is sink or swim in Sanctum. Capitalism breeds selfishness, and greed. There is little to no middle class in Sanctum society, only the rich and the poor.
Military service in sanctum is mostly volunteer. Drafting is done as needed, but it's mostly a volunteer force. What motivates both classes to join the military is both the fear of their lives being changed by that of a socialist military state, and a wide variety of benefits for those who join. Those willing to join the military receive a university or college education that is near completely paid for, insurance, and monthly pay bonuses. Such expenses the Sanctum can afford, and while their military is by no means as formidable as the SNTS, they have the funding and the numbers necessary to threaten the SNTS. Furthermore, while Sanctum may not be able to dish out the damage the SNTS can do, it certainly has the ability to recover financially better than the SNTS.
Government: To go into detail about the government of Sanctum, as sated before, it is a democracy with royal ties. All citizens elect council members to occupy the three Councils of the Sanctum government. Each of these councils creates its own laws to cycle through each council before passing. At the bottom is the House of Commoners. This house deals mainly with domestic issues that effect the infrastructure of the Sanctum. These include things such as new laws, taxes, and police action. In the middle of the three Councils there is the Council of Nobles. Unlike the first, this Council deals with mainly with foreign interests, such as trade, tariffs, embargoes, foreign policies, embassies, mainly just anything outside of the Sanctum, minus war. Then, at the very top there is the Council of Royals. Being at the top, they focus on the big picture of the Sanctum and the world around it. Mainly their responsibility is war. No war can be declared without the approval of the Council of Nobles. Other responsibilities include the annexation of other nations, the upholding of the union, human rights affairs, and upholding the general aims of the Sanctum. In order to pass, all laws must pass through each Council regardless of how what council they originated in, which takes much time. Usually though if a bill or law passes through its council of origin, it will most likely be passed by the others.
Leader wise, there is one that rules over Sanctum, and they are given the Title of Emperor/Empress. Doesn't make much since does it? Considering that they are elected by the people they shouldn't they have the title of President or Prime Minister? It should, but it's just one of those names that happened to stick due how the Emperor rules over three continents, and is considered to be of Royal blood. Sure, it may be a democracy but the children of previous rulers are much more likely to be elected than that of outside blood. Elections are held every six years, and there are strict laws surrounding them to ensure no voter fraud.
History: Sanctum, prior to common belief, never actually came to be until roughly a few hundred years ago. What is called Sanctum today used to be known as 'The Sanctum of Western States', a union made up of various countries that inhabited all of the western continents that Sanctum occupies today. It was what we would call an 'Economic Union', which means that all of the countries on the three major western continents joined into a Union that opened all borders, forced cooperation, and made a unified currency that all nations would share.
Years would go by, and military nations would step up to protect the other nations of the Union while the smaller nations all worked on their economy to support the union, and within decades all of the countries in The Sanctum of Western States became both militarily and economically bound to one another. Backing out of the union at that point was impossible, and within a hundred years the Union succeeded into morphing all of the dozens of countries into one unified country that would come to be known as Sanctum, in honor of the union that created them.
National Colors: The official colors of the sanctum are White and Neon Blue.
General Information: The Sovereign Nations of Tarian Socialist is a socialist military superpower that dominates the Eastern Hemisphere of Oceana on the single largest continent of the world, named Taria. Its government is very strict, and the ideals of socialism stretch to the very core of its domain across Taria. It may lack the economy that Sanctum has, but it makes up for it with a very superior Military, one that can dish out damage much better than that of Sanctum
Life inside of the SNTS is not miserable like the Sanctum propaganda makes it out to be. In fact, it's rather secure, organized, and the people enjoy it. What's odd about the SNTS is that unlike most socialist nations, private enterprise is allowed, though limited. Workers are paid fair and equal wages regardless of the job. It has its flaws, but it keeps people happy, due to the SNTS's rights that it gives its people. Universal healthcare, fair treatment with no discrimination, representation in court regardless of class, and much more.
Being a warrior-based culture, SNTS society is based heavily a system of honor, integrity, and honesty. In the SNTS, everything is much more group based. Everyone helps each other, and friends and families stick together, often joining under a symbol known as banners to show the honor of their friendships. These are proudly hung from homes by residents of the SNTS. Also, unlike Sanctum, the majority of the SNTS is middle-class. The upper class is very small due to it being made up largely of government officials, and the lower class is virtually nonexistent due to how the government works.
The Cities of the SNTS are not nearly as beautiful as that of Sanctum, but they are not the grey dystopias many make them out to be. In fact, there's a foreign beauty to them. SNTS cities. There is no uniform architectures style like that of Sanctum. Each city varies, but all of them show off their immense military pride. Most cities follow an Asian-like theme, with pointed roofs, street lamps, etc. Very exotic compared to the future-like Sanctum.
Overall, culture is very focused on Nationalism. One puts their country before their family in the SNTS, and believe it or not the outstandingly large armed forces of the SNTS is a completely volunteer force. From the age they are born, most people in the SNTS like any country, are fed endless amounts of propaganda just like Sanctum is. With the most elite military in the world, the SNTS truly is a nation to be feared.
Government: A rather odd form of socialism run by the military, much unlike the other forms, which is probably why it's so successful. Everything is distributed equally. From the farms to the factories, to the independent businesses, this strange government plays a factor in everything that happens, with an iron grip over the nation. The government itself is an odd system, run with roughly four government officials who control four sections of the extremely large continent, all reporting to one dictator, who has absolute control over the government. Anything he says goes, and he rules with absolute power. However, there are a series of rules that he must follow otherwise the 4 government officials can overthrow him, and select a new dictator. These rules just mainly ensure that they are not ruling by terror, and are treating the people as any government should.
This form is much simpler, things get done substantially quicker than a democracy, and new laws and bills can be implemented within just hours if needed, all enforced by the military. In fact, due to the extremely strong presence of the military there is a substantially low crime rate in the SNTS
History: The SNTS rules over what once was the most radical, uncontrollable, and chaotic place that ever existed. Back before they came to be, the continent of Taria had many different countries on it, all filled with unstable governments defined by radicals, extremist, and crime. Various insurgencies always occupied the land, and the Sanctum branded the place the biggest danger to Oceana.
With a vast amount of desirable resources with it, it wasn't long before Sanctum invaded and occupied various parts of the continent. While there, they showed the most promising countries the means of proper governing, and of the effective means of military. What seemed like an honest and responsible thing to do would later in the future backfire. Things went to hell in Taria, as the continent proved much too unstable for that of democracy to rule over, and within a decade Sanctum forces just up and left, leaving all the equipment and gear behind as it was too expensive to haul back.
Well the unseen soon happened. All of the Government officials trained by Sanctum came up with the idea that if Democracy could not tame the land then a much stronger form of government would be needed. All of the soldiers that Sanctum had given their most elite of training to agreed, and the Tarian Socialist party was made. This party quickly rose to power in multiple countries, and mobilized their forces, conquering every surrounding country and then governing it to expand its military power. Within a century the entire continent was under the Tarian Socialist party's control, but by then they had changed their name to a much more suitable name. The Sovereign Nations of Tarian Socialist.
