Characters and Such. New Character: Jooyoung Shin (FEEDBACK NEEDED)

Name: Samuel Kim

Korean Name (Last Name First): Kim Sook Hyun

Sam has black, soot colored eyes. Eyes that look dirty and unappealing. His eye lids are simple mono-lids, nothing else. His straight and uncured brows are hidden by his hair most of the time. Sam is the typical Korean man if you met him. However, he is from North Korea instead of South. Sam is more than average in height especially after living in North Korea. His long body makes his figure look slender and frail even though he can take punches to the gut and can go through starvation.
From childhood to the age of twenty-three, Samuel had been stuck in North Korea. He was brainwashed and fought for everything in life. Even his own life because of cannibalism. Samuel was scarred when he saw his own mother chewing on one of his friends one night. From then on, he realized life was a competition. Time went on as Samuel actually found one good thing in his life. His wife, Hye-Mi, at the age of seventeen.

As word went around through the concentration camps, he found out that there was a way to be able to leave. Two ways: Bribing the guards with a large amount of money.. even though that won't guarantee you'll get out in one piece. Or, becoming a secret traitor. Having to be sent to South Korea and find out some special information of the Government. Even having to kill people. That also doesn't guarantee gaining freedom in one piece.

Taking a chance since there wasn't anyway to get money in the time he planned to leave, he decided to work for North Korea. He had to leave his wife behind for a couple of months as he began his mission to take out a North Korean agent working for the opposing government faction. While he was in this mission, it traumatized him, killing someone for the first time, having pressure on him not to mess up, etc. Just when he thought the mission was over, his wife was sent over and was going to be exchanged with him. He'd get his wife if he gave the agent over. Once this exchange was starting, it was actually a set up. The very last member that was involved with the agent had tracked down Samuel and killed his wife right when the transaction was going to be completed. It devastated him completely, he was a murderer for nothing. He wanted to be the one that died. When his wife had been murdered, he had only been twenty-five while his wife was twenty-three.

For five years, Samuel was in prison. While he was there, he learned english. Not to the point where he perfected it but just enough to keep a small-talk conversation going. Samuel turned himself in after seeing his wife die in front of him, he believed that there wouldn't be anything better and he deserved a life being alone after killing men. Once he was released, he couldn't stand the site of being in Korea anywhere. That's when he decided to move to America. He changed his name from Sook Hyun to Samuel. Now, he's been living a simple life. For the first year in America, he was an apprentice of a Sushi chef. Another year later, he made his way up to the top in becoming a Chef himself in the same restaurant. Still regretting every day and seeing his wife everywhere he goes.
~Since Sam had experienced being around cannibals, he swore never to eat meat except fish. It made him sick to his stomach.

~He also learned that he needed to use his head more. After being brainwash by the Government, life was certainly a breath of fresh air to him. He had to think on his own, making sure that he would never let anything manipulate his mind again.

~After fighting and using guns, he hates to fight. The only time he'd fight someone is if he ever saw a woman being mistreated. No woman should be beaten after what he has gone through.

~Aside from the last reason, he has post-traumatic depression. Seeing his wife killed, seeing the faces of everyone else he killed, really messed him up on the inside.

~Sam fears of being around others, thinking that something from his past would either come back or hold him back. He's very paranoid.

~Since Sam loved Hye-Mi, he became very protective of both children and women. He'd be a father figure for being protective and also kind. Even though he's depressed and messed up on the inside and doesn't show his kindness as much, he still would be nurturing.

~Really feels uncomfortable being in alleyways, tight spaces, etc alone. He'd rather be in a more populated area.
~Samuel had bought a tattoo in America, putting his wife's name on the inside of his fore-arm in Hangul.

~He prefers being distracted so he can forget his sadness. He likes to be around others and seeing them happy.

~If Samuel didn't consider himself upset, he would want to raise his own child. However, he can't bring himself to have a child with another woman.

~Samuel hates being called his Korean name. He thinks it's the name of a traitor that is evil.

~Even though he doesn't consider himself a smoker, he smokes once in a blue moon, to relieve a little stress on the inside.

~Every year, he makes a funeral ceremony in his house for his wife.

Samuel is supposed to be known as what he is now. When/If he is used, his story will develop more. I'd rather keep his character into making his life have multiple possibilities instead of him looping over again.

I've already posted him but I'm deleting that thread so I can just post my characters all in the same thread. Feel free to criticize. The only thing I would do when reading your criticism is to either clear what is unclear to you or thank you for the criticism.

Story: Although the history for Sam is nice, there are some things I'd like to point out if I may

1) Sam is from North Korea. From what I saw there was nothing stating him to be a part of a family that had any governmental ties or something else that would lead to his being able to join in with the government. Personally, I doubt that North K.'s government would allow just any commoner to join in with them unless that person were chosen to go to war as a disposable. So, I think that you should give Samuel a family history that was involved with the N. Korean government so that it adds up a little easier in terms of being more realistic.

2) Samuel had a wife. I'm just wondering how he ended up with her. Did he marry her because he loved her or was is because she had money/ was involved with the government through family (if that is the case then using this instead of having Sam's family being involved with the government would work too). But how did she end up meeting him and whatnot if she is involved with the government and thus probably a little more well off than Sam? I also think you should ask yourself why does he need a wife? What significance does she honestly bring and is there a better approach that could lead to the same outcome? There are a lot of available questions and scenarios and I think looking deeper into this could help build Sam's personality and backstory too.

3) Once again, Samuel is from N.K. The environment is not so nice sue to lack of care the government offers to its people. Thus, I really think this should be a huge factor in Sam's personality, reasoning, thoughts, etc. He grew up there since he was a child so maybe make him more selfish or a trickster if he was the type to try and steal any food or money he could find. This could even give him the extreme want to be better and grow beyond what he felt was possible since he's in the 'land of opportunity'; it could lead him to being more brutal or deceitful so he can get things he's never had the opportunity to have and loathe people who try and stop him since he'd been held back since his birth in N.K. He could also become the type that is a push-over and only trying to make their own way, but the more they're pushed the more dangerous they become as well due to pent up anger.

4) You said Sam likes to help women and children because of his dead wife right? Well, being in a country with an extreme amount of poverty and thus selfish people, maybe his idea of 'being kind' is not what the average person would consider to be 'kind'. Perhaps he thinks stealing an apple/orange visibly from a store and giving it to a kid who's saying they're hungry is kind while others find him to be ridiculous. Or maybe he takes his kindness too far and ends up harming others for the sake of someone else because he thinks it's kind.

5) Sam's wife is dead. He was really affected by it. I think that maybe certain women of similar voice, appearance or personality should trigger a PTSD since seeing her die was a major impact. It culd also lead him to draw away from females just so he won't have to experience that/ maybe he blames himself for her death and feels that women should avoid him so they don't get hurt either.

6) Samuel worked in the government. There are a lot of people and a lot of faces, but anyone who was significant he should probably be able to remember. Considering he was brainwashed, perhaps people who remind him of those he used to hunt down for N.K cause him PTSD episode or he ends up running after them to chase them down and 'complete his mission'.

7) Samuel was brainwashed. Being brainwashed is not going to disappear over a year or two; in the case f samuel I think that since he didn't know anything else except N.K. and its habits that they should carry over into his life in America. As of now he doesn't know anything expcept that of North Korea so he honestly wouldn't know that he was brainwashed, he would only know what he was told to believe. I think this is incredibly important with your character so I think you should fix it so that there is a way for him to see and understand that what he was brainwashed to believe is wrong (a very complex and hard task to do that wont ever be 100% effective for him) or change it from being brainwahsed to just feeling the absolute need to complete his tasks to get out of N.K. so he was willing to do about anything. If you decide to keep him brainwashed, than I suggest choosing specifics of what the brainwashing consisted of and how it'd affect his view on everything.

Thank you for the criticism! I will take that all into consideration, add that in, etc. Few things I'd like to clarify.

1) In N.K. you don't really need to have any family ties. It's kind of like being picked into the military, except secretly and you either get picked or you pay to become an agent. Samuel paid because it was a way for freedom. There really is no family history because they aren't important, they were like strangers and it was a 'every man for themselves' mentality.

2) I'll add this but he met her when she was coming back to N.K. she wasn't necessarily an agent but she paid a ton of money to a trusted doctor break out of N.K. and head to S.K! So they finally caught her and brought her back, that's how they met. He married her because he loved her and wanted both of them to be free.

3) At first, Samuel was like that but from the lack of care from his own family, he started to change his mind. Also after meeting his wife, all the things she had told him really changed his thinking. Yes, he'd steal but that was for survival mainly. He became a really brutal person when he became the double agent and started hunting down people.

4) I really agree with you on that one about stealing something so small. However, not the last part though. That's just not him.

5) I kind of talked about this in his personality but didn't go into depth but yea pretty much. I agree with you on that. He completely blames himself. He doesn't wish women would avoid him but he would avoid them. He wouldn't avoid them if they were in trouble though.

6) I understand what you mean but I'm treating Sam like a war veteran where he would really have terrifying memories, visions, etc about what happened in the past. I think if he saw someone that was apart of the mission he once had, he would remember killing them and it would just cause him to break down. Because he was brainwashed to do that. If he had a choice, he would never kill anyone. Remember, him killing everyone led to Hye-Mi's death, well that is what Samuel thinks.

7) You're right, Samuel was brainwashed. (My fault for lack of explanation) His wife had started to unwind him. Especially when he traveled to S.K. himself, he saw how it was night and day in S.K. compared to N.K. He was outraged about how much N.K's Gov. lied to him saying that nothing was better than N.K. itself. Once he met his wife at the age of seventeen. He was with her six years and she told him everything. Then he left her quiet some time.. Then she died and he was in prison for another five years. While being there, he pictured more freedom, talking to inmates, etc. I agree with you for the "absolute need to complete his tasks to get out of N.K. so he was willing to do about anything," part of what you said. However, his wife changed most of it. I should definitely change that part and make it more clearer

Ian Park has brown, russet colored eyes. An eye color like a red apple with reddish-brown skin while having mono-lids. His shiny hair is raven black, in the light it almost looks like you could see blue highlights in his black hair. His eyebrows are groomed that are straight with a very small arch at the end. Seeing Ian from far away is a man who is coltish, strapping and round-shouldered. His legs are thin like a woman's but very strong. He is the normal height for an average Korean man. Ian is from South Korea.
Only ten months old, Ian's brother was born. His parents were never really loving towards their two sons. Their mother was always away working while their father was unemployed and an abuser to the two boys. While their mother was always away, she was having an affair. At the age of nine, Ian's mother had left him behind with his abusive father and close brother. After that, him and his brother were the only ones that could protect each other. Once his mother left, his father lost it completely. Taking his anger out on Ian or his brother. However, Ian always wanted to protect his brother and usually had his father beat him.

About a year later, Ian and his brother were taken to their Uncle's custody since their father couldn't physically take care of them due to the lack of money plus having abusive behavior. Years later, Ian was sixteen. He hated many women, they reminded him of his mother and he would never forgive her. His brother however, was the opposite. That didn't stop them from being close however. Ian learned how to be more open to women but still had a grudge. While living with their uncle, they moved to America. Everyone changed their names to easier names. Ian was so angry, he was becoming his father where he had pent-up anger and would take it out on himself. It was like he was becoming a monster on the inside. Of course, his brother always tried helping him even though he was starting to get scared of him since he wasn't like Ian. Sure, his brother was angry but he never experience what Ian went through. He was always being protected by him and rarely got hit. He had his mother's personality even though he didn't know her that much.

The years grew on, Ian was fluent in both Korean and English. While being in America, Ian liked the women there. It didn't really remind him of his mother because of looks. He started to discover things about himself, he was great at art but not writing. He loved learning about criminal justice. He was known as a player in high school since he slept around with the girls and never got into relationships. He moved out of his Uncle's house at the age of eighteen. His brother stayed however and went to college. Ian was turning more into a monster. He was turning into a sadist and turned to drugs. He loved heroine and was addicted to it for four years. Once his brother found out, he sent him to rehab. Finally after getting out of rehab, it helped Ian. He stopped taking drugs but only became worse. Ian became a narcotics dealer. His brother tried to stop him but Ian was never convinced and threaten to hurt him. But, he stayed close to him since he loved him.

At the age of twenty-three, he was almost discovered by the police. He came up with a plan to make sure that he wouldn't be suspected when he deals drugs. He became a potterer and sold drugs inside pots he made. Ian became rich enough to buy himself a house isolated and more by the mountains. A couple hours away from a city and thirty minutes away from the local town. Inside the house, he kept his workstation for pottery in the basement and made his house look normal and modern. As he became more experienced in selling the drugs, he lost trust for many people. A year later being twenty-four, he started killing people for not having money on time and simply just for the fun of it. He knew straight away how to get rid of the evidence. He would burn the bodies where he made the pottery and turn them into the pots thus selling drugs in their pots.

Today, Ian still does business. However, he is starting to stray away from the drug business and found something he likes more. Bounty hunting. He'd make money off the people he'd kill and easily get rid of the evidence. He enjoyed killing and loved getting paid for it. His brother had worked for a man that always needed to get something from people so it wouldn't hurt his business. Since his brother wasn't good at jobs like this, he'd call Ian for help. Of course, Ian couldn't resist since it was his brother and got what he needed. A few times he killed people to get what he needed. Ian didn't care who it was, whether it was a teenager or a child that threatened his brother's boss or an elderly person. He'd get the job done. Now, Ian still does the same thing. He lives alone and occasionally sleeps around but hasn't really found anyone he'd be interested in yet. On the inside, he's too scared that he'd kill a girl he loves.
~Ian is a sadist that loves killing. He isn't the type to torture someone for a while, he just loves the adrenaline rushing through him when he kills someone or when he's chasing someone down.

~Since he's experienced with getting angry, he controls his anger. Once he gets pushed too much, that's when he would let his rage out. When he gets too angry, that's when he kills.

~Ian is very proper. He can show manners when he wants to so he doesn't be suspected. When he is around his brother, he ignores everyone else. When he is alone, he shows manners.

~Inside his home is very clean. Ian has to have everything clean, he hates dirty things.

~Ian makes sure that he makes himself to always look good. Whether it's with his hair or with his outfit, he likes looking sharp.
~Ian doesn't like using guns in killing a person. He knows that guns can easily be traced with either being heard, seen, or the police knowing the type of bullet.

~Usually, Ian kills with knives, random items he finds or his hands. His personal favorite weapon he used were chopsticks, it amused him.

~Ian has many scars on his body. From his father, himself, clients from the drug dealing business or the bounty business.

~While seeing Ian from a distance, he looks like someone who could already be with someone or he looks like someone that would be good with children.

~On the inside, Ian could have a family. He'd just be risking himself from killing them or having others come after him.

~Ian hates using sexual activity as apart of killing someone, he thinks it's disgusting and unprofessional.

~He's very fast and strong and artistic.

~He can make meals well.

Occupation: Power Plant Worker/ Takes Care of Boss' Dirty Work

Luke Park has black, velvety colored eyes. His eyes so soft that they don't look black, more like a pale and grayish black instead of the harsh tone itself while having mono-lids, making his eyes so plain looking. His fluffy and vivacious hair is tinted sable brown, like a wooly mammoth having soft dark fur. His eyebrows are more curved that are thick. From a distance, Luke is a solid and stocky man. His legs are wider than Ian's and strong. He is an average Korean man from South Korea.
Being born only ten months after his brother, Ian, his parents loved both of their sons for a short amount of time. Growing up, seeing Ian always getting hit by his father and protected by him, he looked up to Ian. Luke was always upset about his mother leaving both of them, he never understood what it was like to really have a mother. He never understood how Ian was so resentful to their mother or how he has so much anger built inside of him. However, he still stayed by his side since he looked up to him so much. The one thing Luke was always angry about was how his father was so inconsiderate and abusive, wanting to hurt them almost everyday. It was good that their Uncle came into the picture.

As they started living with their uncle, they moved to America. Ian didn't like living in America, he missed Korea having his friends there and also knowing the language. He hated having to change his name. Here was a fresh start, he saw that Ian was a bit better than before but it seemed that their roles changed. Luke was easily frustrated over small things. It took him longer to learn English than it did for Ian, he was a bit jealous but soon learned. In high school, he made some friends, joined the football team, etc. He was popular but was a complete jerk to people unlike Ian who was known as the player. Once Luke would come home, he'd be scared at times when he would see Ian get angry like his father or just breakdown. He didn't really know what to do other than to tell him that things will get better or take him out to somewhere he liked. He never understood what Ian went through.

When a few more years passed, Luke gave up football and just didn't really do anything. He liked going into Asian towns and liked communicating with other Koreans there. For his first job, he worked at a Korean restaurant and easily fit in, he didn't care about the job itself but only where he could use his home language with others. Whenever he spoke English, he had a Korean accent and was always a little embarrassed about that. He made enough money to pay for half of his college with both saving up and from getting paid. As he was about to head off to college, Ian moved out and went into the more dangerous area of town. At first, Luke wasn't very suspicious and focused on school. Until he went over to Ian's house and found drug supplies every where. Seeing dirty needles and heroine around. It made him sick knowing his brother got sucked into the drug world. He was disappointed in Ian but never said anything, he only wanted to help him. So he sent him to rehab.

For two years, Luke waited for Ian to get out of rehab. Once he got out, he noticed that Ian changed. He sobered up but seemed more quiet and sadistic. Luke noticed that he seemed to be angrier but kept helping him to see if he could make a difference at least. Only a couple weeks after he was released, Luke found out that Ian became a narcotics dealer. Luke became angry inside and wanted to just stop him from everything. When he confronted him, he cowered from Ian after being threatened. It made Luke lose a lot of respect for Ian but he stayed close to him so there wouldn't be any problems between them. Luke knew he was dangerous.

The two brothers parted ways for a while, Luke finished college. His brother's name went through college since he was giving drugs to some of the students. Luke was ashamed of himself for doing this but he said that he didn't know Ian at all so he wouldn't get kicked out of school. Once Luke graduated, his Uncle introduced him to his best friend that was the boss of an Atomic Power and Chemical Plant. Since the boss liked Luke, he kept him close and made sure he'd keep him around for a while. Luke had bought himself a house that was in a Korean neighborhood. He heard about Ian moving into the mountains and didn't visit him as much since it was a far drive. One day, Luke visited Ian and found out that he killed a man. Ian only got Luke to be quiet about it with money and also some threats. A lot of hatred built up inside of Luke but he kept quiet and just played a show for Ian so he wouldn't suspect him to turn his back away from Ian.

Today, Luke still works at the Power Plant. He really hates his boss because he screws up with women or men being blackmailed. His boss would send him out to exchange money for the evidence. Luke was never the type to do that so he would always send Ian to do the jobs. Whenever Luke would find out who was killed, it would make him sick inside. Knowing that his brother was a cold-blooded murderer. Luke on the inside is a snake and a coward that brings his sadistic brother into his own problems only putting himself in danger more.
~Luke is a snake and a coward. He pretends to be so close to Ian when he really hates him and wants him out of his life. He is a cowards because he can't do certain situations by himself without dragging Ian in.

~Luke is a good man and will show affection people except Ian or anyone associated with him, he'd only put on a fake act.

~Luke is a strong man but he could never take on Ian, Ian could kill him easily.
~Luke really dislikes using his brother or getting involved in his bosses personal affairs.

~With Ian being the sadistic man, Luke dresses up like a man from the mafia while Ian looks normal or someone who is high end.

~Luke has a few tattoos. One he regrets is having his brother and mother together on his chest. He wants to get rid of his brother but knows he can't.

~Luke smokes from time to time but not that much where it could kill him.

~He is a good person to women and has had a few girlfriends. You can't really see him as a good spouse/boyfriend who contributes to the relationship that much since he's always is doing something.

~Luke is good at pinning things on others, if he steals something small he could most likely convince someone that it wasn't him.

Hana Ju has brown, doe-eyed colored eyes. They look so innocent like a female deer with plain mono-lids. Her thin, chestnut brown hair is short enough to be put up in a small ponytail with her bangs almost covering her eyes. Her eyebrows are very thin and lighter than her hair, that curves slightly but it mostly straight. From afar, Hana is slight and gangly. She looks like a teenager more than adult but is just an average Korean woman.
As Hana was born, her parents adored her after having a miscarriage before her. They treated her like a princess and showed her so much love. However, her mother had depression inside that affected her greatly after losing her sister in a car accident. Hana grew up very quiet, sad, and always was respectful. She was always very independent of herself and took care of everyone she loved.

When she moved on to high school, she made a close friend, Ji Na. They were very close to each other until Hana was sixteen. Everything turned completely worse that whole year. Her parents split up, and the worst happened to her best friend. As Ji Na met a friend who was a guy, she didn't know he was being bullied by a gang who barged into Ji Na's house and sexually harassed her and Hana. A while later both girls were devastated and Ji Na found out she had gotten pregnant. Hana didn't know what to do, so she pretended that she didn't know about the pregnancy. So much stress was on Ji Na, it caused her to commit suicide. A day later, police found her in a river.

Seeing her friend in this condition, she always thought about suicide herself. The teenage gang members went to jail but everything kept coming back to Hana. She couldn't stop thinking about her friend, she was both angry and upset. She didn't know what to do at all. To stop publicity, she moved to the city of South Korea. However, it was too lonely especially with her parents being split up, her mother never found out about it. A couple years later of suffering in high school, she was finally an adult. During those years, Hana learned English and made a few friends again. She wanted to have at least a semi-normal life after the tragic accidents in her life.

Once high school finally ended, Hana packed up her bags out of anxiety and guilt and moved to America. Feeling better already since it didn't remind her of her deceased best friend and Korea in general. She felt guilty inside and still had thoughts of committing. While being in America, she went for help at a doctor to cope with her depression and suicidal thoughts. Meanwhile, she went to college and went for a doctor's degree. The reason she did this was to take care of people that were hurt. Either a girl who had been harassed like herself and her best friend, or just anyone in general. She decided to not make her life tragedies as an excuse but something to make her a better person. Even though she doubts herself a lot, still having thoughts.

Today, Hana finally became a doctor. She's thinking of moving back to Korea but still likes America. Hana hasn't found anyone to date and isn't pushing herself to since she still has trust issues with men. Every day, she has memories of her best friend or just sees her wherever. Not one day passed by where she stopped thinking about Ji Na or suicidal thoughts. It really messed her up on the inside. But, she would never stop herself from helping people. One day, Hana wishes that she could finally have good thoughts about Ji Na and will be able to fully move on from everything.
~Hana is very sweet on the inside and shows affection to ones hurt.

~She never truly trusts someone easily but sooner or later, people gain her trust

This is the first girl I made. It was very difficult for me to make her for various reasons. One was including her backstory. I took a lot of details from a movie based on true events so it was very hard for me to make Hana. However, I'm very happy about the outcome because Hana is a great character.

Hana is available for a role-play but it basically depends on what role-play it is which will probably be a very dramatic one.

. . . I could almost see her being in a role-play with Ian.. Hm, maybe they could be a couple . . .

Jenny Song has rich black, ebony colored eyes with plain mono-lids that compliment her eyes and facial features. Her shoulder length hair is a deep mahogany brown color with red tints if you catch it in the right light. Her eyebrows are more round and fade in the beginning, only to grow darker towards the end of the eyebrow. Looking at Jenny's body type can be very deceiving. She may look very slight and awkward looking but really she is coltish-like. She can run very fast and is a bit stronger than how she looks. Overall, she's is a deceiving Korean woman but is average.
After being born, her father and mother were very loving to Jenny. Three years later her mother had another child, her sister. Unexpectedly, her mother died from childbirth. Due to her father being so distraught from his wife's death, he gave Jenny and her sister to her grandmother's to be raised. From then on, Jenny forgot about her parents being so young. She doesn't have many memories and couldn't really tell any stories to her younger sister so their parents could be remembered. However, it didn't really matter, their grandmother were so close to them and treated them the best as she could.

Jenny and her sister grew up in the more rural area of South Korea. She never had a phone as she was growing and only depended on herself to travel. Not that many cabs drove where she lived and every house was very close by her so she either walked or ran. However, there is a path to go on that would take you closer to the streets where you could go on buses an taxis. Jenny never really used them, she always stayed in her area and never traveled that much. Only in the mountains or by the lakes to have fun or just find some grown items to sell.

Sadly since her grandmother was getting older, she was dying. She gave the small vegetable stand to Jenny for her to work in. She also made sure that her younger sister would get the education she needed. Jenny's younger sister was the smart one in their family while Jenny was the childish, clueless, and frankly not the brightest bulb but she was hard working at the stand and made sure to take care of her sister. At the age of seventeen, Jenny lost her grandmother and became the eldest in the family. A few times while running the stand, some of the workers that owned most of the land tried taking away Jenny's stand. However, she would fight them off or just push them away to back off.

Being seventeen and her sister fourteen, she waited for her to graduate high school which would take a while. As time started passing, it was starting to get harder owning the land and stand they had. Plus, her sister wanted to go to a school where she would have to move there. Of course, that conversation didn't go smoothly with the two sisters even with Jenny not being smart enough to understand. However, Jenny tried her best until she thought of a really great idea. A year later, she had sold the land and shop even though she really didn't want to and brought her sister to America to finish high school and go to college there.

Overall, she studied hard to learn English and worked at Farmer's market to sell vegetables, fish, etc. She tried making as much money as possible until she could open her own shop again like the one in Korea.

Now, she was finally getting back on track and her sister was going to do well. The only thing her sister worried about Jenny was that she wanted her to be smart enough on how to deal with boys and also trusting people. Jenny always laughs it off and tells her sister not to worry about it. She only wants to worry about her sister, not the other way around. Today, Jenny is a young adult while her sister is finally an adult and is going to head off to college. Still, she hasn't had a boyfriend but she's been focusing on herself. She's a strong swimmer as well as a fast runner. A few times, she entered a competition and won some extra money. She definitely doesn't want attention however, she just wants to get by and always take care of her sister.
~Jenny overall is a very caring person but shows all of her affection to her sister. She's kind to people when they are kind to her.

~Overall, she's not smart, clueless, and gullible. When she fights with someone, she always gives unnecessary or confusing reasons to support herself or she mainly cares about her point.

~Almost every morning, her childish mind makes her think that her grandmother is talking to her as either the sun or the moon.

Mia Song has dirty, small, brown colored eyes with simple mono-lids that always are covered in black eyeliner. Her bra strap-length hair is a burnt umber color. Her eyebrows are hidden behind her thick, long bangs. Looking at Mia from afar, you can see that she is very feeble and fragile looking. She has long legs but isn't built at all. Unlike her sister, she is very weak. She is an average Korean woman who is weak.
Three years after her sister Jenny was born, Mia was born. Sadly, her mother had died while giving birth to her. From this tragedy, Mia's father had been so distraught when really, he had actually blamed Mia for his beloved wife's death. Since he had been so upset and didn't really want to see Mia anymore, he gave Jenny and Mia to their grandmother who raised them both well and didn't blame Mia at all. Jenny never blamed her either since she was a bit more clueless but always loved her.

While growing up in the rural part of South Korea, Mia felt a bit uneasy. She was the only one in her small family to be sent out to school. She felt like a complete outcast. Plus, with all the girls having phones and makeup, it made Mia feel like that was unfair and just became a bit spoiled and bratty at times. However, Jenny would always explain to her about the financial difficulties and how studying was more important than texting 24/7.

Being only fourteen years old, Mia had lost her grandmother. She knew that Jenny was closer to her than she was but she was still really upset about the whole thing. Once their grandmother died, some men that owned part of the land always tried taking their stand. Of course, Jenny would stand her ground and occasionally fight them off. Nothing serious though. Only jumping on their back and throwing hard vegetables at their heads. However, Mia kept focusing on school since she didn't want Jenny to be upset anymore. She wanted to become the smart one in their family.

As the year went on, Mia became more social with people and was learning about boys more than ever. Jenny didn't know anything about boys really, so Mia would have to teach her. Unexpectedly, when Mia was coming home, she found out that they were moving to America and was upset. She didn't want to leave all her friends. Plus she was finding out about boys and tried to get a boyfriend herself. But, this could be an advantage for her. She could know both English and Korean. In her head, this meant: More friends, boyfriends, colleges, and job opportunities.

Overall, going to America wasn't such a bad idea at all. Mia was excited but also scared. Jenny protected her though. She basically overprotected her from everything. Since they were in a different country, not everything or everyone could be trusted. Mia got annoyed a lot but in the end, they'd always forgive each other and Mia would shrug off Jenny's cluelessness. Today, they still live with each other. That's because Jenny can't live without her sister and Mia doesn't have enough money to find her own place. She's heading into college and she's going to study Fashion and try to get into the beautiful and colorful part of the world.
~Mia is a girly girl. She loves girly colors and anything attached to being girly.

~She can be/act very spoiled and bratty a lot.

~Many times being with her sister, she always feels like she's being babied or that she can't do anything on her own. Which makes her annoyed with Jenny a lot.

John has a mixture of a velvety brown and black as his eye color. They are so dark that you would think they look like a muted black but it has a mix of brown in it as well. His eyes are very muted and have more of a soft look to them that compliments his hooded eyelids. His triangle and some-what bushy brows aren't usually seen at the same time. He always has his hair covering one eyebrow than the other. His soft black hair touches lightly on his shoulder. It was long enough to put in a small ponytail. For his bangs, John always shifts them to one side of his forehead. From a distance, John is a lean and trim man. He stands with pride and looks like he can withstand in a fight but definitely can't take on more than two guys at once. John is a man that looks neat and clean even when his hair may be messy or he has a five o'clock shadow coming. He's an average Korean man.
There really isn't much of a childhood for John. His parents had him a bit late but he had a normal life up unto his teenage years. His parents weren't really close to each other and decided to divorce when John became a teenager at the age of thirteen. His father had left his mother for another woman who was a co-worker with his mother. His mother spiraled into depression while John was driven into anger towards his father for doing that to his mother. He hated his Father and refused to see him when he wanted to. He always wanted to support his mother. Especially since he became the man of the house now.

Every weekend, his mother always brought him to her friend's house. Playing cards or just doing simple and fun gambling games. John always listened since he never wanted to make his mother upset. He hated seeing her upset. As he observed his mother playing these games, he picked up a few skills in these card games, making him just as good as her. Being sixteen, he started gambling with a few of his friends from school and learned more skills. He learned so much from playing that he became a pro at gambling. By the time he was almost eighteen, he had learned how to play ninety percent of gambling games. He knew tricks, mastered his poker face and even cheated every now and then. Since this was a way to access money easily, he depended on gambling to earn the money to keep the house going. To take care of his mother.

The one thing people respected about John was that he never healed drugs or took any. He was always clean, even though he was a cheater at times. When John was at the age of twenty-one, his mother died from a heart attack. Once she did, he became a worse person. Now since he lived all alone, he didn't really know what to do. All he could do was what he knew best, gamble. Since he didn't feel a burden upon himself, he felt that know he could do whatever he wanted to do. Now that he had power, he could cheat all he want. He cheated in most of his games and luckily never got caught. The time he did though, he had a couple thugs beat him up. He took out one but couldn't take out all of them since he was outnumbered and not strong enough.

A year later, twenty-two, John found himself involved with sports. He became close friends with a baseball player, Kim Jin-Woo, and also the coach of the team, Cho Kye-Hyeon. During those times, the two were in desperate need to win a game. Of course, John was good at gambling. All he had to do was win and he could be able to throw the game. For three years straight, he had been throwing the games. Until one day, the team had gotten caught of throwing games and had sent the police to arrest any of the gamblers. Luckily, John got out in time and headed out to America to escape.

Moving to America so late definitely gave him trouble. He had to learn the language and change his name. He had a very heavy accent when he talked in English. At first, he could barely make a sentence. After two years, he was finally able to write and read well. He could speak well but still had an accent that always sounded like he was having some trouble in pronouncing words. Even though it was just his accent. Luckily, he had enough money to convert into American money to get him a decent home and to live on his own.

Being twenty-eight now, he finally was able to have the search for him to stop. He wanted to move back to Korea but he really liked America. He had gone back into the gambling business and started to throw minor games. Being in America opened more chances of doing things, he loved gambling there. As he did so, he met many women. Some that gambled as well or just prostitutes. He was quite the flirter whenever he was around them. He couldn't turn down any girl that wanted to be with him.

Today, John still gambles. Not as much as he used to, he promised that he wouldn't get crazy in gambling. Whenever he did though, he made sure to get a lot of money. It was always worth it and fun. Nowadays, he just saves his money and stays outside. He likes his house but it's lonely. So he just tries to make friends other than gamblers. Right now, he is close with a man named Samuel Kim. He is from North Korea but still fluent in the language. So they converse in English which makes John happy. He wants to meet more women though, he's too much of a player at the moment.
~John is definitely street smart. He did okay in school but excelled greatly outside of school. He isn't stupid though.

~After getting beat up, John learned self defense and also to make sure not to get caught anymore. He couldn't handle getting beat up. He is lean but definitely can't take on more than a few guys

~Even though John is a player, he is a gentleman and wouldn't hit a woman.

~John is amazing at fooling people.

~John likes eating all kinds of food. But he really loves Samuel's cooking. It reminds him of home even though Sam grew up in North Korea.

~A lot of the time, John will act like a pompous thinking he is completely better than anyone.
~John has a tattoo on his wrist. It is the first two cards he ever won in his professional gambling game: An Ace and a King.

~Sometimes, John doesn't really answer to his name since he was used to his Korean name. But he tries his best though.

Jane has a mixture of black and navy blue eyes. They look like the night sky when you gaze into them, so dark that you think you see a hint of blue in them when the light hits it just right. Her mono-lids easily compliment her dark eyes, especially when she wears makeup. It's so easy to see. Jane has thick, ash brown hair that stops a little over her shoulder. Her eyebrows have a very small arch at the end and are usually groomed. From a distance, she is an up-standing woman who also has long legs.
Jane had a very simple childhood. She was a good girl and always listened to her parents. She was an only child so she was spoiled a lot of the time. Jane's parents were always very close to each other as well. Her parents loved Jane more than the world and only wanted her to have the best. When Jane turned seven, her father went out of work since the company started to let go more than one hundred workers. This made her father go into a deep depression, locking himself in his office and drinking. Not talking to anyone at all for days. When he did say something, he would only ask for a newspaper to look for a job.

While her father was out of work, her mother got a job at a local restaurant to serve as a waitress. Even though her father loved her very much, he never talked to her for weeks. The only thing he would ask is what her grades are. If they were good, he nodded. If they were bad, he'd hit her once and tell her to do better since he was paying for it and didn't want it to be a waste. This went on for six years. Soon, their mother and father went into a debt and couldn't afford their house. Jane's father had to work three jobs to try his best to keep the house. Her parents both struggled but each month, they barely made it to pay everything off.

This made Jane worry, she decided to get a job a year later when she was fourteen. Occasionally delivering newspapers and working at bath houses to clean the floors. All she wanted to do was help just a little since she was treated well as a child. At the age of sixteen, she started working with her mother at the restaurant. Her parents lost the house but moved into a smaller and more affordable house. Jane was a bit upset about it but this would help with their money problems and her father only having to work two jobs instead of three.

The next two years, Jane only focused on school to get the good grades. She had been worried since a lot of pressure was put on her. Some of her classmates had committed suicide while she was there since they were worried about not getting into the right college. This put weight on her shoulder, she wanted to make her father proud but didn't want to end up as one of those kids on tv. Luckily, she just made it to the college she wanted to go to.

While in college, she met her husband, Kyung, there. They dated for a couple years and got married when she was twenty. One year later she had their first child, Jooyoung. He was the thing she loved most. She understood what her parents meant when they told her the same thing. The two of them treated Jooyoung with love. Jane wanted to become an accountant since she had the degree but stayed home to watch Jooyoung. Kyung was alright with it though, he worked and was able to keep the family going.

The years went on, Jane was twenty-six now, Jooyoung was five. Jooyoung could speak, walk, etc. Hell, he couldn't stop talking. Jane loved having cute conversations with him. Jooyoung was closer to Jane than Kyung since she was around 24/7. On a sunny day, Jane took Jooyoung out to the park with his daycare friends. She had been chatting with the mothers of his friends while Jooyoung played ball with them. The second she turned her back away and no one was looking, she heard a car horn raging in the background and something hit it. She quickly turned around and saw that Jooyoung was laying on the ground as the bouncy ball rolled on the road. Her eyes widened and that was the last day of happiness she ever remembered.

She could remember picking up his body and taking him into the hospital, telling him it'll be okay even though she had no hope at all. The doctors came out of the room several hours later saying he had internal bleeding and several broken ribs and bones. He had a severe concussion as well that put him into a coma. That coma didn't last long however. Two days later, Jooyoung.. Had passed away.

During those two days, Kyung had blamed Jane for the reason Jooyoung was in the hospital. Once they found out he died, Jane lost herself. She didn't want to live anymore. Her husband had told her the day that Jooyoung died that he would be divorcing her. She had nothing anymore. A few weeks later, Kyung moved out of the house. Jane was lonely and broke. She couldn't stand the sight of being in Seoul anymore. She moved to America so she couldn't be reminded of the sight again.

Being twenty-seven, Jane could hardly speak English and worked as a bank accountant in an Asian town. She changed her name to an American one so it would be easy to pronounce. Another year went on, her English had started to get better but the pain never went away. Not a single day went by without her thinking about Jooyoung. He was the light of her life. She didn't think she could find something to love or be loved. The only reason why she didn't kill herself is because she knew her husband, even though he hated her, and Jooyoung wouldn't want that.

Three years later, she moved over to an American bank and decided to work there. Her English is much better now even though she has a heavy accent. Today, she just stays at home alone or works. The only times she goes out is to occasionally eat by herself or go shopping for anything. She liked America. It didn't remind her about Korea at all.

Jane is supposed to be know as what she is now. When/If she is used in role-plays, her story/life will develop more. I'd rather keep her character into making her life having multiple possibilities instead of her looping over and over again.

Jooyoung has bleak, inky longish hair. His hair is unkept and usually put into a bun. His almond shaped eyes are colored milk chocolate but give the effect of gunmetal eyes. Looking at them can make him seem like a warm person, however looking at it in a different perspective can make him seem emotionless. His eyebrows are a bit unkempt but they look clean. They're straight and shaped like a triangle. Looking at him from afar, he's a slender and muscular man.
Growing up was hard for Jooyoung. As a baby, everything was normal. It was up until middle school where things became difficult. Jooyoung was an active boy. His parents loved him. His father was hard-working, his mother was at home always taking care of everything, things were lovely. Up until 5th grade and beyond.. was when things went downhill.

Since Jooyoung was so active, he was friends with children involved with sports as well. One of his friends, who was a girl, brought him to one of her recitals. Once he saw this, he was extremely interested in dancing. He thought it was amazing. His parents thought this was silly and absurd. They refused. Luckily, his friend had met him after school and brought him to her dance classes. He had a passion for dance classes. No one knew until 8th grade. His best friend found out.

It was difficult to try and explain to his best friend the whole situation since it was deeply frowned upon about young boys learning ballet. Unfortunately his 'best friend' stabbed him in the back. The word was slowly spreading through the school, then spreading through his town. His parents found out, almost wanting to disown him for doing such nonsense things. For the next couple of years, he was getting bullied repeatedly about being a dancer. In his last year of high school, he fell in love with a boy. Well.. Had a crush instead of love. Anyway, this boy found out and was completely disgusted.

For the rest of the year, he was getting bullied twice as much. Being called a gay fairy, homo, etc. Jooyoung fell into a depression, his parents were no help since they didn't support him at all. They just kept adding on more. However, his mother felt a little mercy when she saw him taking pills one day. Somehow, she convinced her husband to let her move to America with Jooyoung for them to live in. There, he would attend college and be able to watch over his mother.

This was difficult, Jooyoung didn't know the language at all and had a lot of trouble. He hated the thought of having to change his name. He refused to, wanting to still be himself. But, he did love that no one would be able to bully him anymore. He was even more ecstatic that being a dancer and also liking both females and males were starting to get accepted.. It started to clear a lot of things up for him.

Since he couldn't really speak English, he kept to himself. He attended college, trying to figure out what the professor was saying. He took an English class on the side to help a little. He'd work as a waiter to make money to help his mother who had now worked as a maid. On his free time, he'd sneak out of the house and go into a dance studio where he would get relaxed and just let himself dance to whatever. He was starting to learn a lot more, learning contemporary dances, jazz, even hip-hop. He loved it all.

Barely making it out of college, he was able to pass with some-what low grades. He told his mother to go back to Korea, he'd stay in America since he was an adult and he loved it. So his mother agreed, soon leaving him behind. At first, it was difficult trying to keep up with bills and everything on a low budget. However, he was finally able to quit working as a waiter and just start dancing full time. He became a dance teacher, teaching anyone at any age certain dances.

Today, he still teaches dancing to others. His depression isn't as bad but he does have bad days at times. He's learn some America but has a very, very heavy accent where it's hard to understand him most of the time. He's come to the fact that he is bisexual. The only thing he misses is having a few close friends. In America, he doesn't have any.. Or so he thinks whenever he goes to a particular sushi restaurant.
~Jooyoung is a depressed man but is kind overall.

~He wished that his childhood was better and that he wasn't bullied

~At times when he sees someone talking to him in his native language, he's too scared to open up to them, thinking he'll be judged

~Jooyoung loves dancing all the time. Whenever he goes into nightclubs, he's quite popular

~He doesn't really know what he'll do when time passes. Not knowing who he'd fall in love with, not knowing if he'll be alone or not.
~Jooyoung does not have any tattoos and doesn't plan on getting any since he doesn't like pain. (Especially after getting beat up in school) But, you never know if he might get one.

~Jooyoung is a health freak. He tries to stay fit and healthy to be able to dance perfectly.

~He hates seeing others get bullied or seeing people judged of what they are

~Jooyoung is somewhat of a loner, he doesn't mind it too much. But sometimes prefers to have someone around.

Sam has black, soot colored eyes. Eyes that look dirty and unappealing. His eye lids are simple mono-lids, nothing else. His straight and uncured brows are hidden by his hair most of the time. Sam is the typical Korean man if you met him. However, he is from North Korea instead of South. Sam is more than average in height especially after living in North Korea. His long body makes his figure look slender and frail even though he can take punches to the gut and can go through starvation.

From childhood to the age of twenty-three, Samuel had been stuck in North Korea. He was brainwashed and fought for everything in life. Even his own life because of cannibalism. Samuel was scarred when he saw his own mother chewing on one of his friends one night. From then on, he realized life was a competition. Time went on as Samuel actually found one good thing in his life. His wife, Hye-Mi, at the age of seventeen.

As word went around through the concentration camps, he found out that there was a way to be able to leave. Two ways: Bribing the guards with a large amount of money.. even though that won't guarantee you'll get out in one piece. Or, becoming a secret traitor. Having to be sent to South Korea and find out some special information of the Government. Even having to kill people. That also doesn't guarantee gaining freedom in one piece.

Taking a chance since there wasn't anyway to get money in the time he planned to leave, he decided to work for North Korea. He had to leave his wife behind for a couple of months as he began his mission to take out a North Korean agent working for the opposing government faction. While he was in this mission, it traumatized him, killing someone for the first time, having pressure on him not to mess up, etc. Just when he thought the mission was over, his wife was sent over and was going to be exchanged with him. He'd get his wife if he gave the agent over. Once this exchange was starting, it was actually a set up. The very last member that was involved with the agent had tracked down Samuel and killed his wife right when the transaction was going to be completed. It devastated him completely, he was a murderer for nothing. He wanted to be the one that died. When his wife had been murdered, he had only been twenty-five while his wife was twenty-three.

For five years, Samuel was in prison. While he was there, he learned english. Not to the point where he perfected it but just enough to keep a small-talk conversation going. Samuel turned himself in after seeing his wife die in front of him, he believed that there wouldn't be anything better and he deserved a life being alone after killing men. Once he was released, he couldn't stand the site of being in Korea anywhere. That's when he decided to move to America. He changed his name from Sook Hyun to Samuel. Now, he's been living a simple life. For the first year in America, he was an apprentice of a Sushi chef. Another year later, he made his way up to the top in becoming a Chef himself in the same restaurant. Still regretting every day and seeing his wife everywhere he goes.

~Since Sam had experienced being around cannibals, he swore never to eat meat except fish. It made him sick to his stomach.

~He also learned that he needed to use his head more. After being brainwash by the Government, life was certainly a breath of fresh air to him. He had to think on his own, making sure that he would never let anything manipulate his mind again.

~After fighting and using guns, he hates to fight. The only time he'd fight someone is if he ever saw a woman being mistreated. No woman should be beaten after what he has gone through.

~Aside from the last reason, he has post-traumatic depression. Seeing his wife killed, seeing the faces of everyone else he killed, really messed him up on the inside.

~Sam fears of being around others, thinking that something from his past would either come back or hold him back. He's very paranoid.

~Since Sam loved Hye-Mi, he became very protective of both children and women. He'd be a father figure for being protective and also kind. Even though he's depressed and messed up on the inside and doesn't show his kindness as much, he still would be nurturing.

~Really feels uncomfortable being in alleyways, tight spaces, etc alone. He'd rather be in a more populated area.

~Samuel had bought a tattoo in America, putting his wife's name on the inside of his fore-arm in Hangul.

~He prefers being distracted so he can forget his sadness. He likes to be around others and seeing them happy.

~If Samuel didn't consider himself upset, he would want to raise his own child. However, he can't bring himself to have a child with another woman.

~Samuel hates being called his Korean name. He thinks it's the name of a traitor that is evil.

~Even though he doesn't consider himself a smoker, he smokes once in a blue moon, to relieve a little stress on the inside.

~Every year, he makes a funeral ceremony in his house for his wife.
