Eltheron Delioss

Eltheron just shook his head slightly then took another drink, "We'll not be burning down the Library Beast. It is a historical monument of my people, and you'll not desecrate it." Eltheron glared at Xenthriss over the top of his tankard as he finished his drink.

It was at that moment, just as the Shadow Elf had finished his sentence, that the girl Dina felt a tingling sense of presence - as if someone was speaking to her from her own mind. Reflexively, the contact made her close her eyes, and against her shut eyelids she could see the image of the Spectral Council, one of the spirits speaking to her through its gaping mouth.

"My queen." it addressed her, apparently bent on using that title. "You and the others cannot linger here. Yesterday the Sorceress learned of the hidden section. Her forces are already underway. If you do not reach the Great Library in time, you will find it occupied with enemy troops, or worse. What you seek will be lost. You must hurry. Go to Aboran, before it is too late."

The Council did not wait for a reply, and the contact faded as abruptly as it had come. Dina was left to regain the awareness of her surroundings, the puzzled looks on the faces of her friends who noticed something was amiss with her.

Dina Ailsa

Looks like no one is happy to be under the same flag. She thought after the Thing spoke. Then it hit her and the Spectral Council was before her eyes. She didn't remember closing them but apparently she did.

Dina fought the sudden urge to get up and run to their destination. She succeeded only partway though. She was standing now.

"We must get going right away. They just contacted me saying that She is making her move, She knows the same that we do." she spoke steadily, her hands placed on the table. Dina shifted her gaze from one of her companions to another seeking understanding of her words. "Her forces will surely be here soon, they're on the run from yesterday morning." she decided to strain it a little. Her voice was just a little stronger then a whisper but audible just enough for everyone from her company to hear her. There was a sudden feeling that made her lower her voice, fear that someone could overhear them and use the information for no good.

So the Demons march on Aboran. If it were the truth then they had little time to spare, Aboran wasn't far now. "Well in that case it looks like you win, a day light visit it is." Eltheron said with a wink at Dina. "Looks like we'll need to hold off on any foraging for supplies, we need to get in n out of that Library as soon as we can." Eltheron turned his head to look at Xentriss, "And we are still not burning the place down." Eltheron stood from the table, fastening his black travelling cloak around his neck and pulling the hood low, "You all should gather anything you'll need, I'll wait for you near the forest's edge." Eltheron, carrying everything he owned on his person, turned and started for the door, he didn't like the idea of going to the library in such a large group, it was too conspicuous. Little choice was left to them however, now that the Sorceress was on the same trail as they were.

Xenthriss

"If all else fails, torching it prevents the information from falling into enemy hands." Xenthriss stated, ripping the knife bloodlessly from his hand and slamming it's blade into the table clear to the hilt. "I am ready to slay something, the bear earlier did not satisfy the bloodlust.". With a chuckle, he stood and gestured to the entire building "I would like to see this behind a wall of fire, if it would not interfere.".

Dina followed the elf as she had nothing else to collect. Her dress, her shoes and the small bag of coins tied around her waist were all she had. "Do you happen to know how long will it take for us to get there?" she asked when she caught up with him.

Eltheron Delioss

Eltheron was just exiting the small Inn as Dina caught up to him, "Depending on the speed of the group, shouldn't be more than an hour, like I said though, it's been years since I've been around these parts." he replied to her. "It's strange being back here after all this time"

“...Thus spins the wheel of fate. I have done your will...”

“But of course. Yes. Yes. Yes, the Library, we leave soon. If not now. Yes? Of course. I will...try. There are no guarantees. This rabble- Yes, I understand. But my fellows, they might not be so open to suggestion. Of course. I only hope to divert them as long as I can. History, perhaps, or cartography, it remains to be seen. I have a few things, yes. Might I ask that...yes, the silvers. I have a few of them. Perhaps twenty left. The small ones. May...may I use them? Ah. Yes. Excellent. I am in your debt. Aside from that, I have a few small tools..a number of oronthopers...Nothing special.”

“Them? Ah. Yes. There are no true threats, I believe. Hmm. Perhaps. I will be investigating them further, granted. Perhaps on a singular basis? I fear that together they are fairly resilient to my influence...That might work.”

“No, there is no need for that, of course. I think it would suit you best to stay low. Masquerade as a conventional book..yes. I will be referencing you, naturally, but it is best to not show face until it is necessary. And on no permission are you to make any sort of contact. None at all.”

“That is all. Let the wheel spin.”

Henvei had certainly enjoyed himself in the tavern. Initial pleasantries had gone quiet well; the following interactions, however had been simply dolorous, and to retreat to his room had been the Frigid Folk's only goal up until the time he had finally detached himself from the group and slunk off up the stairs.

One...pleasant?...meeting later, and Henvei found himself enjoying a cup of his secret stash of pinelock tea. The Frigid Folk couldn't help but send a careful glance out of the window as he sipped at the small cup: the tea was extraordinarily good, and many Frigid Folk had run into trouble with other peoples trying to get at its recipe: their thirst for the legendarily delectable beverage driving their poor souls to madness. Understandable, to say the least. The rich flavor...the subtle hints of spice...the mellow undertones and expressive, bright highlights...ah, what a brew!

Another glance into the room reminded him why the curtains were truly drawn.

For the invisible tracker...that which finds all targets and sees through all concealment. For the great agent of blood and carnage...that which bite and tear, etching rivers of blood through that which they cut. For the emissary of the natural world...that which trims plants and flowers to shreds, and roots out all weeds. For the insurmountable warrior...that which brings to bear the power of fifty men, the speed of fifty horsemen, and the precision of fifty arrows.

Now if only Henvei could figure it out.

Somewhat frustrated, the Folk threw the artifact aside, letting the twenty or so metal cards of its making scatter across his bed. This was simply silly. A library trip, it was just a library trip No. NO. To think of such a grand excursion as a simple exercise in scholarity would be an insult to the learned Folk around the realm! A great feat like this demanded, as a very least, a keen eye for presentation. Who knew what sort of people would frequent such a hallowed establishment? Least to say, perhaps a fellow scholar, seeking the secrets of the library? Well, that was what the silvers were for.

Or perhaps the others. They were a wild card, however. There was no telling how any of them would behave in the Library. The silvers would take another scholar, perhaps, but the Drakkar was tough, the dwarf sturdy, and the elves, far too sneaky. To create a distraction would be the only way to proceed, then. Either that or to take them all by surprise, but that was just silly, now, wasn't it?

Besides, there were much better things to worry about. Like what to wear? This was quite an event, after all, and a gentleman must look good for anything! Especially a gathering of this caliber. To the wardrobe then...perhaps a robe for tradition...

Some time later, Henvei came strolling down the path of the Inn, to meet up with his two fellows who had already made to go. “Ah, what a pleasant surprise! Messer Delioss! M'lady! It seems we are of like mind!” Dressed to kill in an ornate robe, and wearing a ridiculous hat, Henvei certainly was out-of-town: the traveling trunk he had strapped to his back instantly labled him as some sort of foreigner, completed by his status as a Frigid Folk, who were rarely seen outside of their insider-excursive cities. Not to mention the very effective gender ambiguity of traditional Frigid Folk attire and styling.

If the young man knew of how outlandish he looked, it showed not on his beaming face: instead, he strolled confidently along, twirling an ornate walking stick and whistling a merry tune. “I see you have it set to head out for a stroll...might I join you? Perhaps our stocking up might be done in tandem. At the least, we can all get lost around town together!”

Dina Ailsa

Dina nooded.
If it weren't for this mess, maybe I might never got a chance to see this. Foreign lands, new places and experiences. I was never far from my cottage where I grew up. And there is it now, a chance to see and feel. But hey! You have to tend to your kingdom issues now. Of such a strong family I am a sole survivor. Ironic for I have no idea how to bear myself as a ruler, in fact all I was doing until now was following my mother's lead.

Her thought train came to a sudden halt as that merry chatter mouth joined them.

He was wearing a peculiar robe, Dina never saw anything like that, and some weird sort of a hat. Dina was about to correct his "M'lady" but he said it without making it sound like an insult so she smiled instead.

"An interesting hat you got there, has it some sort of use?"
she asked. curious.

Eltheron Delioss

As the extravagantly robed Henvei Relkor vech Daltzon strode towards them in all his glory, Eltheron couldn't help but bow his head and wonder, How did I ever expect any concept of conspicuousness from this group? And as he thought it, he couldn't help but give a chuckle at the strange turn of events his life had so quickly taken. He looked to Henvei as he approached and said, "Good day to you messer Datlzon, glad you were able to make it along." Eltheron said it as very sincerely as he could, for he was glad to get any help he could if their fate was to battle out the Sorceress, but the man was an oddity to him, good or bad, he wasn't sure yet.

"This? Ah, this. I see you have an eye for rich history!" Shooting Dina a devilishly devious smile, he swept the hat off of his head, around a few times, and onto his hand for proper display. It certainly was a curious hat. Perhaps a cross between a academic's square cap, a general's peaked hat, and a shark's fin, all with preposterous amounts of ribbon, bows, and lace sown into the seams. "Interesting cap, this one...oh, my...quite interesting." The look of bright excitement that had so radiantly shown from Henvei's face now slowly and sadly drooped into a lightly confused and somewhat disappointed manner. "Oh. My, this isn't what I wanted at all." Having properly seen his hat for the first time, Henvei carefully brushed the ribbons aside, trying to find some kind of end to the complete mess. Needless to say, he didn't, and it was some time before he finally gave up, carefully rearranging the ribbons to be as unobtrusive as possible, before letting the hat float back onto his head.

"Present. From a friend." Henvei shrugged, leaving it at that.

"But enough from me! What exciting adventure have you two conspired to create, on this fine day?"

Dina Ailsa

http://www.rpdom.com/threads/dina-ailsa.53054/

Dina shrugged her shoulders. I think I'm getting used to him, a peculiar character indeed. She thought regarding him. her stomach growled hungrily. Dina blushed and realized that the contact pushed the thought of food out of her head but now with her stomach reminded her....She was quite hungry indeed.

"I think finding something to eat will be an adventure I'll take." Dina said and closed her eyes. Let's see... She thought of the fruits that might be found here: apples, pears, plums, some berries... She concentrated on berries, fresh, soft, sweet berries. She went through her memories recollecting her finding and eating them. Yes, some berries would be nice. Where are you? Dina called for them with her mind, hoping to find some response, to feel their location as she did before with acorns.

With but the slightest effort Dina succeeded in reaching out, so to speak, to her mind's desires, and felt a mysterious force pulling her south. Her mind tingled with sensation - the taste and scent of blueberries. The bushes on the outskirts of the forest nearby were teeming with them, and there was more - without even focusing she could feel other plant life in the area. It was like focusing out a familiar face in a crowd. You see them clearly, but at the same time you're vaguely aware of other faces as well.

At the same moment, two people, men, entered the inn and barely avoided bumping into Dina, Eltheron and Henvei. They shot the latter with a surprised glance and proceeded straight to the bar. Their clothes were worn and dusty. "Armadello!" one of them called at the bartender. "Two pints this way for two weary travelers!" He spoke in a loud, rough voice, apparently oblivious to the amount of attention he caused.

"It's good to see you boys!" replied the bartender as he poured their drinks with a genuinely glad look on his face. "I've been itching to hear some real news! Y'know this place. Nothing ever happens." He faked a sad expression.

"Well something is definitely happening in Aboran." said the same man who spoke before. His companion's attention was reserved solely for his drink. "A squad of soldiers arrived early this morning from Reindir. And not greens either. Two dozen elven knights. They marched in several hours ago, all business like."

The bartender's expression was puzzled but he showed no signs of being overly interested. "What for? Maybe a special ship arrived to the port?"

"No, I don't think so. Although they seemed to be checking around the whole town, they didn't show particular interest in the docks. Maybe they're preparing for someone's arrival?"

The bartender shrugged. "Your guess is as good as mine. But whatever it is, I'd rather know nothing about it. It's the sort of thing that can only lead to trouble." His companion agreed, and they drank to that. Afterwards their conversation drifted off towards less interesting topics.

Dina Ailsa

Dina was pleased with her discovery but curious about those two who just got past them. She listened to the conversation in the Inn. Her eyes widened and her face lost all the color. "We must move! Right away, no more delay. They're already there! ...Well their escort is actually..." panic washed over her. She was as ready to make for it as a fleeing dear. But first....She ran for the blueberries, used her dress to harvest a lot of them and have them there while she ate in haste. It was a comical act with little sadness from Dina's side. She couldn't enjoy her meal when in haste like that. It took her a few moments to get stuffed, when she finished she looked at her companions. Then, "We have to gather the others. There is no time for stalling." she stood there all edgy and covered in blueberry smudges. On some other occasion she would have been the first to laugh at herself.

Laurolf Fangür

The Dwarf remained more or less quiet through the ordeal at the tavern, especially when he agreed with the Drakkar- Despite the dark elf's protests, they might have to burn down this library to prevent the Sorceress from obtaining it's information. "We'll be crossin' that bridge when we be coming to it." He had just thought, although when Dina jumped to her feet- Laurolf could barely resist tugging the human girl back down, after all, Ilhirel could have had spies everywhere. Nevertheless, he was ready to go- Needing only what he already had on him.

Eltheron Delioss

Eltheron stood there looking at Dina as she spoke, her somewhat comical haste for a morning meal had been amusing, but if she was correct, then there truly wasn't a moment to loose, they needed to get moving now.

"Looks like Ilhirel is much closer than we suspected, perhaps the night's rest wasn't the best of choices. No matter, they shouldn't be expecting us, she couldn't possibly know we have assembled, this is still manageable." Elther looked over his shoulder back towards the Inn, "we need Meric and the beast to hurry now."

Eltheron's hands ran across his armor, ensuring it's plates, belts, and straps were all secure, lastly ensuring his swords' sheaths were securely fastened to his self. "I'm going to go scout ahead, make sure the path is clear for us, I'll wait for you at the city's edge, else I'll back track to find you should there be a problem." Eltheron turned his head to the Dwarf, "Keep them safe master Dwarf" he said with a nod and a smile. Eltheron's day had just gotten better. Finally... some action, he thought as he turned and took off towards the forest.

Xenthriss

Grunting several obscenities before he hobbled out the doorway, Xenthriss took a last look at the inn and groaned. Knowing how fun it had been in the past to do so, he walked back in and threw one of the candles keeping the interior alight into the alcohol supply in an attempt to cause a massive inferno. Then he exited the premises for good, a twisted smile on his face. "I love the smell of fire in the morning.".

Xenthriss, the Lord of Flesh and a rising Deity, was on his way to Aboran. May whatever gods are out there have mercy on their souls.

"Yes...keep them safe..." Henvei mused, before breaking into a huge, toothy grin. "Because I'm going to follow him! Vaaaaaaaaaaale!" Dragging out his final goodbye as he took off, Henvei started in the direction of Eltheron, taking his time with his footing, but nevertheless at a fairly quick run, or at least, quick for the scholar!

Once out of sight, Henvei soon came to regret his decision, but nevertheless ran on, motivated by...well, he knew this was something he had to do. Picking up a small rock, he sent it flying in the direction of Eltheron, hoping to get the elf's attention. "...does he ever stop...*pant*...to breathe?"

Racket coming from the inn lively described efforts made to put out the fire before it got out of hand. If anyone saw how it started out, no one bothered to come outside and argue. On another note, it seemed like the fellowship finally made ready to set out. One of the elves, Eltheron, went ahead to scout while the rest of the group was about to follow. He walked fast and was out of sight before the rest of the group moved anywhere. Well, nearly. Henvei followed in his footsteps but only barely.

The sun was rising towards its peak, and it was all in all a beautiful sunny September day. One of the last, probably, since winter was at hand. The village was really small, and they could see the forest as they stood outside the inn. The place was looking lively though, with villagers moving up and about all business like, most of them having their hands full.

Eltheron Delioss

Eltheron hadn't noticed the scholar following him, until he felt the small stone ping the back of his head. Eltheron stopped mid stride, placed his out stretched foot down and and turned slowly to see Henvei attempting to follow him. Gaining as much composure as he could, and speaking as politely as he could, Eltheron said to the man, "Return to the group Henvei, you'll not but slow me down right now." One hand was resting upon his sword hilt as was his normal posture, his other hand pointing a finger back to the group outside the Inn. Eltheron was standing just within the forest's shadow now, spitting distance from the first trees of the dense woodland.

The scholar came running up, panting heavily, before finally collapsing onto his knees before Eltheron. What happened after that was somewhat odd.

"Y...You and I, we are of like mind...The...The Library is a sacred place." Henvei's visage had gone from the carefree, somewhat devious look that usually graced its handsome manners, to a look of...fear. Anxiousness. Urgency. "Please. Let me say just this." A few moments passed as the Frigid Folk continued to pant, tearing away at his rich robe until all that was left were simple traveler's clothes. "Let me come with you. Let us go to the Library ahead of the rest. If they reach the Library, there's no telling...it might not survive the encounter." Henvei's voice was dead serious. "I want to see it. Before the rest of them reach it."

Henvei managed to pull himself to one knee. With a flash, he sent a lick of flame at the robes, letting their beautifully ridiculous folds burn to ash. Offering the sacrifice as proof of his intent, Henvei gave Eltheron one last look of desperate pleading. "You're much faster than me, yes. At least let me follow your path. Please."

Eltheron Delioss

Eltheron looked the man over, at least without the ridiculous robe he stood a better chance of navigating the forest paths. "Fine," he finally said, "But I have one speed, mine, keep up or rejoin the group. We have little time as we speak, and no time to find you should you get lost. Understood?"

Dina Ailsa

Dina began to follow, forest's shade suited her taste. Rays of light went through tree tops, lighting their way here and there. The sounds and smells of the forest filled Dina's ears and her nose. Her body seemed to relax as she walked, this was reminding her if her many lone ventures in the woods. Nature around her, relaxing, familiar, potentially dangerous as her mother kept reminding her. But for Dina it seemed to be the safest place in the world, her mind flowing back to Spectral's words. The nature itself will aid me in the time of need. A small smile escaped her lips. She caressed flora around her with eyes and her fingertips when she passed near. She got that feeling as if she was using her power. The feeling of familiarity, being surrounded by the crowd of friends, recognizing their faces, the familiarity of their presence. Dina's mind was clear, undisturbed by current events and the ones expecting them. Just now, she was enjoying herself.

Laurolf Fangür

Laurolf tried to grasp Henvei's arm, but before he could- The man was already running off. "Bloody children!" The Dwarf growled, after all- The humans were like children from his perspective, so young and at times, so foolish. "If that damned skinny oaf, gets 'imself or Eltheron killed- I'll slice his bloody head off, I will!" He mumbled, strutting along with the rest of the group. He then looked at the human woman, who seemed to be enjoying herself, touching and watching the flowers and bushes that surrounded the path, like a wall of flora- To guide the Chosen on their way. Laurolf shrugged, the only walls he liked to see, were the ones of stone and metal, beautifully decorated with Dwarven artifacts, runes and ancient writings. Brightly glowing crystals, lighting the largest of caverns and greatest of halls, with hundreds of smaller tunnels going throughout the mountains. Sounds of drunken Dwarves laughing and singing, and the clanking of miners hard at work. Friends and family greeting Laurolf as he passed them by, young recruits awaiting thrilled for his arrival to training sessions..

That's what Laurolf called home. And now it was gone, taken by Ilhirel and corrupted by her evil. Dwarven minds twisted into doing that bitch's bidding. The Dwarf shook his head, thinking of home got him into a very bad mood- A mixture of nostalgia and fury. Though, he quickly managed to cheer himself up, "Laurolf Fangür, Runemaster of Goliath, travelling with two humes, elfkind and a bloody Drakekind.. They'd die of laughter back home, if I'd be telling 'em about what I've gotten meself into." All for the freedom of his people. A faint smile crawled it's way onto the Dwarf's face, underneath his hood.

After a few moments, the Dwarf opened his mouth. "So tell me, milady." He spoke, without looking at Dina, "Have ye' ever wielded a blade or an axe, hm? Or a mace, perhaps? In fact, do ye' have any experience with a weapon?"

The path they traveled on was mostly shaded by the treetops and covered by dead leaves - red, yellow and colors in between. The trees were oak and apple, and the bushes teemed with berries. Birds sang. The place was beautiful, and awoke relaxing thoughts in Dina as well as her companions. It took Eltheron and Heinvei less than half an hour to reach the outskirts of Aboran, where they stood now. Meanwhile, the rest of the group was following in their footsteps at a slower pace.
