| What is Channel 16? |
Channel 16 is a roleplay following the summer of a few fire tower lookouts and the weird things they keep on seeing, unsure if it’s just the isolation or if there’s actually something out there. More information can be found in the interest check and lore thread.

| Rules |
The rules are the usual ones, like no god-modding or power playing. However, there will be different areas in this roleplay, so before a post, it would be preferred that this little form below is included.

Character:

Location:

Radio Channel: [ if applicable; if they switch between channels, please specify this ]

Interacting With:

This is just to keep the roleplay rolling smoothly, especially since there is the likely possibility that different groups will have different events. A posting order will be implemented, and if a post is not made within three days of the order reaching your spot, you will be passed over and will get the opportunity to post the next time the order reaches you. This is a soft limit; if people are willing to wait for your reply, then the group can wait.

Posting requirements are a minimum of 2 paragraphs per post. We will be doing timeskips at points, and if you’d like to continue an interaction, please start a 1x1 thread with that person and post it to the OOC so the main thread does not become a 1x1 between just two people. Other than this, recaps of everything thats happened in and before events will be posted after each event concludes.

| Character Types |
There are 2 character types, and those are park lookout and hiker. However, backgrounds can differ, as well as skills. Hikers will be limited, and preferably will be camping out in the park somewhere along, to keep the wilderness theme; they can have radios, as that is one of the main types of interactions in the roleplay. Please be sure that you balance your character well; we want this roleplay to be fun for everyone, and that requires people to be on even group with one another. For this remake, I will be a little harsher- but reasonably so -on characters, as I want to make them on equal level with each other. I'm 100% willing to work out character details with those who message me.

| Deadline & Details |
The deadline for character sheets is 1/3/19. There are no reserved spots (other than my own), and it will be a casual selection process instead of first come first serve due to the amount of interest. I'm willing to help people work out characters if they message me. After 1/3/19, I'll look over characters a final time, and pick those best suited for the roleplay. It is entirely possible I'll add another tower or more spots, but this is based off of how many sheets are submitted. If you have any questions, let me know.

| Character Sheet |
Finally, this is the sheet that needs to be filled out. This is what's needed, but if you’d like to put more, please feel free. Tower can be left blank if a hiker or if you don't care what tower they are put in if accepted

n8PGJ1v.jpgStella Marigold Baxter

Age: 22

Gender: Female

Sexuality: Homosexual

Tower They’re In: Hiker/Camper

Description: Stella is a tall 5'5 and weighs 124 lb

Likes: Hiking, Being alone, Snuggles by the Fire, National Parks, Coffee,

Dislikes: Being around too many people, Excessive Noise,

Fears: Thunderstorms, The Dark, Deer

Skills: Meteorology and Geology, Basic Skills in Biology, Hiking Expertise, Basic Rock Climbing Skill, First Aid

Something They Have No Experience In: Tracking, Animal Handling, Aquatics, Herbology

3 Personal Items They’ve Brought Along: High Powered LED lantern, A walkman, Portable Doppler Radar Kit

Is This Their First Time as a Look Out for Arborly?: No, it's but she's not working this season, rather familiarizing herself with the area before applying for Ranger

Personality: Stella is a nature enthusiast, though she hadn't always been, often finding it annoying and unnecessary eventually her Grandparents started to rub off on her and the girl slowly came around to it. Now she loves being outside and exploring the world whenever possible, often going out on long solo hikes in her free time, she isn't too fond of being around other people when hiking or taking camping trips, though one or two other people is usually fine. She is kind but can be snarky if pushed, Stella though does show a lot of compassion when she lets her guard down and will try to help people, without recognition and behind the scenes if possible. Thunderstorms terrify her and will exile Stella under the covers or into someone else's arms. Her other major fear is the dark despite her love of overnight camping, usually carrying a flashlight for hikes and sleeping with a solar-powered nightlight.

Why Did They Come to Arborly?: Stella came to Arborley after her first lookout position went out of service after her first summer two years ago due to a fire the destroyed most of the forest and she was relocated to Arboley and has been coming since. Though this time she's only hiking this year to be more familiar with the area as a whole rather than stay in a single tower for three months

Background: Stella was born in Karlyle, Oregon and raised in a small town by her grandparents while her parents were often at work abroad and such. Her grandparents were very adventurous people and given their environment often took their granddaughter hiking and camping which she loved more than anything else yet. Growing up she wanted to be a pilot like her Dad until she was eighteen and getting ready for college. The short girl was taking internships at the local wildlife center and National Parks when she wasn't going off on her own, but one day while assisting with bear tracking there was a call on Channel 16; a young woman had broken her leg while on one of the mountain trails and a storm was coming in but most importantly it was getting dark which meant no helicopter assistance. She instantly volunteered to go join the rescue team, feeling the urgency of the situation, and headed up the trail with them, it was an expert trail and it pushed her more than her normal leisurely, carefree adventures. The pace was grueling but the injured hiker was a priority to her own pain. Once they got to the woman, bringing her back down was twice as hard as it was hiking up. It was dark and the storm loomed on the horizon which gave Stella terrible anxiety but she pushed through. Even at the lower and more accessible parts of the trail were more park staff showed up to help, she kept going. Many of them had broken down crying, tapping out from exhaustion or lack of mental stamina. Of the eleven of the original rescue team, she was only one of the three to make the full trip without stopping or switching out. That experience made her decide to postpone her dreams of being a pilot. Many things happened on that hike, in the darkness. Stella found herself on that mission, she knew what she wanted to do. Going into college she had switched one of her two majors to Geology, her other being Meteorology. Once finishing her two-year degree she immediately applied to be a Park Ranger, though the training season was over and she wouldn't be able to get hers for a few months, so she decided to take up a Firewatch position again just like she did the previous two summers.

ccaf59c0d6d3dcc4d02a11e420f91d0f.jpgName: Adam Earl Henderson

Age: 21

Gender: Male

Sexuality: Homosexual

Tower: Rosewood Peaks Tower

Personality: Adam Henderson can be and is described as an introvert.

He loves to do everything one introvert might enjoy doing, but he is also good at making friends if the other person’s personality fits well with his own. While he is described as an introvert, he can’t be described just as one. He has some characteristics which would put him on the extrovert part of the scale as well. For example, he does enjoy a party here and there, and he doesn’t mind being in crowded areas, like introverts usually do.

While Adam is a person who can talk endlessly about something he cares about, or just a random topic, he is known to quickly shut off or stop talking, as his social battery drains very easily, so he needs time to recharge it by being alone, writing, listening to music, etc.

He can be a different person once you get to know him. When you first meet him, he can be quite shy, and appear insecure, but once you become friends with Adam, he flourishes into that talkative person who has something to say about a wide range of topics.

Likes: Nature, music, reading, writing, swimming, rain, smell of rain, lightning, storms, stormy clouds, snow, tea, dogs, hedgehogs, birds, kayaking, hiking, running, random facts

Dislikes: Loud noises, ignorant people, getting scared, trash, cats, discrimination

Fears: Heights, deep water, snakes, spiders, vomiting, driving

Skills: Good observation and communication skills (when needed), first-aid training and a bit more (he liked to read his mom’s old medicine books), self-defense (Krav Maga), hiking, rock climbing and spelunking, good knowledge of herbs (medicine-wise or not), complex problem solving, persuasion

Something They Have No Experience In: Dealing with snakes or other dangerous animals, repairing things (with a hammer and nail, etc.), using firearms, isn’t familiar with types of rocks at all, being on track when it comes to assignments (he will most probably get distracted by a pretty tree, pretty cloud or something of sorts unless the thing he has to do is very urgent and important)

3 Personal Items They’ve Brought Along: His polaroid with a bunch of film, his typewriter and his notepad.

Is This Their First Time as a Look Out for Arborly? Yes, but he did visit the park quite a few times before.

Reason of coming: While Adam might say he came to Arborly purely because he loves to be in nature, that might not be the whole truth. He does love to be in nature more than anything because it helps him write a lot better, but after his older brother died in a car crash, he needed to get away from his everyday life. Now, half a year later, coming to Arborly gave him that opportunity.

Background: Adam was born into a family of three, making it a family of four. His parents, George and Rebecca were thrilled to have another son, next to Israel, Adam’s older brother, who was three years older than Adam. They were nothing but a perfect family living in the suburbs.

Both of his parents were top notch doctors, his mom, a family physician, and his dad, a surgeon, which meant that him and his brother always had everything the two wanted to have. Everything from the best toy cars for Christmas to a real car once he finally got his driver’s license. While Israel liked to use the money privilege a bit more than Adam, neither of the two boys was ever spoiled, and both of them were fully aware how lucky they were to have successful parents and a nice family.

When Adam started school, he knew that he was pretty smart as he didn’t have a lot of problems with handling the curriculum, which made him the center of attention for bullies. He was aware that the bullies were only jealous, but their words still hurt him a lot, which is why he had to switch schools three times until he finally started high school.

In high school, Adam had a much easier time, as he joined a bunch of clubs, and his high school didn’t have a lot of bullies. The ones who were in the school didn’t focus their attention on Adam because he was just one of the smart kids who would occasionally help them with their homework and tutoring.

It was in high school, in the Writers Club, where Adam was firstly introduced with the passion that is writing. He used to read stories and books, but he never thought he would be able to write his own, and when he finally started, nothing could stop him. He would write word after word, sentence after sentence, paragraph after paragraph, and so on. He would create worlds, characters, creatures, societies, and he loved to do so. He wasn’t much of a writer at the start, but after writing for hours after hours, he got better at it. A lot better.

Soon after that, he needed to choose what he would do with his life after high school, and his choice was, not surprisingly, being a writer. His parents didn’t love the idea since they wanted his son to be successful, but they didn’t stop him from doing it either, as they wanted his son to do what he wanted and what made him happy, which was obviously writing.

Almost two and a half years into college was when the car crash and Israel’s death happened. Because Adam was the one driving, he blamed himself for his brothers death, but to take his mind off of the accident, Adam decided to stick it out in college for a while, before taking a gap year to focus on grieving his brother and just getting the fuck away from his mundane life.

SULLIVAN, LEO
tumblr_ovltg78aZM1qlwamao2_1280.jpg
EMPLOYEE FILE

NAME: Leo Sullivan

AGE: 25

GENDER: Male

SEXUALITY: Heterosexual

HIKER OR LOOKOUT: Lookout

TOWER THEY'RE IN: Meadow Tower

DESCRIPTION: He is six foot and one inch tall and weighs in at just under two hundred pounds. His deceptively wirey frame hides a toned body that he rarely puts on show.

PERSONALITY: Leo is a highly relaxed person and what better place to be for that than in nature? He will make the effort to speak to any hikers or campers he comes across and always has a smile for them. Being raised in a big city gave him an aversion to being in big crowds, the noise and general attitude problems of cityfolk countering his relaxed nature. That said, for all his want to relax he does enjoy a good practical joke and loves to take part in banter, especially if it is on the boundary of being socially acceptable. While he does generally find it funny it is also a mask for his own issues. He will readily drop the facade to support those close to him, even new work colleagues but as soon as it comes to opening up himself the walls go straight back up. Talking about his own weaknesses and sadness often leads to tears.

As mentioned briefly above his biggest issue can be pushing the limits of conversation and at times he does find it difficult to read social situation. He can often come out with really inappropriate comments at the most inappropriate times but he has been trying to improve on this.

LIKES: His biggest likes are nature, food and music. Growing up in a grey world of concrete and smog meant that as soon as he saw the beauty of nature, he was sold. His love of food is based firmly around meat and junk food. He isn't a fussy eater by any means and loves all kinds of cuisines but if given the option between meat or vegetables, meat will always win. His taste in music is definitely centred around heavy metal brought on by a childhood of his parents listening to Queen, Meatloaf and Bon Jovi. That being said he does listen to other artists that were popular in his upbringing such as Eminem, various British garage artists and the vast array of club music prevalent in the UK in his youth.

Sport is a big part of his life having been a former junior boxing champion, he loves to keep fit. He follows his local football team from when he was a child even though he now resides in the United States and has taken to American Football since his arrival. In truth any combat or contact sport is right up his street and he will happily spend a day watching them if the opportunity presents itself.

One other thing that he has picked up since his time in the US is a love for firearms. He isn't someone with five hundred different variations of one weapon in his basement waiting for the world to end, but he does frequent the firing range with his brother regularly.

DISLIKES: Vegans who try to tell him what he can eat is the quickest way to get a reaction from him. He is accepting of all people in the world no matter their race, gender or sexuality but in his words, "screw vegans." Some of his nearest and dearest are vegan but the difference is that they are not on a mission to convert him. He doesn't judge people on being vegan, just if they are really pretentious about it.

His other big dislike in the world is smoking. Having seen a close family friend suffer the effects of lung cancer and the subsequent treatment for it he finds it abhorrent.

FEARS: His most notable fear is that of wasps, which given his choice of profession, can be quite complicated at times. He can often be found throwing some ridiculous shapes with his arms at the slightest buzz close to his ear. He regularly tells people that he, "would jump out of my car at one hundred miles per hour if one of them little fuckers came in through the window." He does often squash spiders if they are in his vicinity but it is less of a fear and more that he doesn't want them crawling over him.

SKILLS: As a former boxer he is highly proficient with his fists but will often try to talk a situation down first. His training has made him very fit and regular exercise keeps him at his peak level. He has some basic knowledge of survivalism after watching everything and anything involving Bear Grylls and also knows the basics of first aid. In a mental capacity he is quick to react in dangerous situations and can keep a level of calmness that can keep his mind focussed and clear.

SOMETHING THEY HAVE NO EXPERIENCE IN: While he isn't totally useless with tools, anything more complex than putting a cupboard together is outside of his capability. Engineering and mechanisms of any type beyond firearms are outside of his skillset.

3 PERSONAL ITEMS THEY'VE BROUGHT ALONG: Leo carries his multitool with him at all times given the amount of uses it provides. He has a personal walkman loaded with a plethora of songs and a case for it featuring a small solar charger. His final personal item is an acoustic guitar.

IS THIS THEIR FIRST TIME AS A LOOKOUT FOR ARBORLY? It is Leo's fourth year in the job.

WHY DID THEY COME TO ARBORLY? Looking to get away from city life and to enjoy his life in a way the concrete jungle would not allow.

BACKGROUND: Leo was born in a small village in the country of Wales in the UK. His parents had moved out of the capital after his birth to take some time off from work to raise their son. They both had high paying jobs and so it was easy for them to take a few years off work to raise their son. Eventually they decided to return to work and with that came a move to the capital. Leo grew up with solid grades in school and found a love for all things sport. One of his friends suggested he join him for a boxing session and from that Leo found one of his great talents.

Over the years that followed Leo was crowned junior champion on local and national levels before finally earning the opportunity to travel to the US for a world tournament. His parents took time off work to travel with him so that he could have some time to train and adjust to the time zone. What followed was a fun, albeit tiring family holiday. Leo eventually won the tournament and found himself being junior world champion at his weight class. After his victory he and his parents left the city and found themselves staying in a cabin not far from Arborly National Park. That week changed his life forever. His first real taste of nature dug its claws deep and he was unable to free himself from their grasp.

Even though he returned home he always found himself wanting to return and once he had completed his studies at university, with the blessing and financial backing of his parents, he returned to Arborly. He found himself with a job as a watcher in no time and has since remained working there. While for the most part it was the greatest time of his life one event in particular burnt itself into his mind that he has struggled to forgive himself for.

During his first year he received a phone call from his mother to say a close family friend had been diagnosed with lung cancer. Leo at the time was focussed on his new job and didn't want to risk losing it before it had truly begun. His mindset was firmly in the camp of 'everything will be ok' and 'medicine has come a long way'. The truth was much more grim. He spoke to the friend over webcam every few weeks to catch up and could see the wear the treatment was having on him. Still, in his head he was reluctant to believe that the worst outcome was possible. Then when waiting for one of their scheduled chats his mother called him with the bad news. Leo has never forgiven himself for that and those he works with have no idea about what happened.

Description: Josie is no taller than your average girl, standing at 5'4 and weighing in at 122 pounds. Her willowy figure is accentuated by her long blonde hair, a pride that she's put vast amounts of energy into nurturing from a young age.

Personality: Josie's personality? Ask her, because who knows. Josie's persona is incredibly fluid, changing like a switch with her mood or whenever she decides that she wants to be something else. She never really found herself, so she buries that fact with constant socialization and switching friends in and out like laundry. From talking to her, Josie comes off as a floaty, bubbly ghost, and it's clear that though she could babble for hours all of her talk is fluff. Having a relationship with her is like trying to catch the last rays of sunshine as they fade into the horizon; true connection with her is always out of reach, as she never really puts herself into the open.

For Josie, it's all just flitting around from friend to friend, place to place, life to life. Her social life lacks any depth. For her, it's to be or not to be. To be their friend or to not. Josie doesn't care about being the closest with someone, being who they can turn to, as long as she's something to them. She sees herself as pliable, her personality a piece of clay for her to sculpt into her next masterpiece. But if you put that fact aside? She's fun, she's fresh, and she'll be exactly who you want her to be.

Likes: Bubble baths, travel, rose-scented shampoo, going out, hiking

Dislikes: Stale atmospheres, silence, heat, boredom

Fears: Being called out on her lack of a real personality (even though she doesn't realize it), being left absolutely alone in the dark

Skills: Hiking, observation, positivity, ignoring potentially big and important things

Something They Have No Experience In: Repairing or mechanics, hunting, finding directions from the trees/sky, self-defense

3 Personal Items They’ve Brought Along: A locket with "J + P" carved into it, a bottle of high-end perfume with the gift tag still on it, an old iPod and headphones

Is This Their First Time as a Look Out for Arborly? Josie had never even heard of Arborly before coming to be a lookout.

Why Did They Come to Arborly? After seeing an online ad searching for lookouts for Arborly, Josie became entranced with the idea. After long, intense, and thoughtful deliberation over the course of 20 minutes, Josie packed her bags and came to Arborly. Her whole reason for wanting an escape was what happened with Peach, but right now she's refusing to acknowledge that she even exists.

Background: Josie is exactly the same as any other suburban girl filtering through the public school system, except she never really came out of that middle school who-even-am-I phase. She's had mounds of friends, her relationships with all of them short and intense. She would meet someone, and for five months be the best person they'd ever met before the two just inexplicably fell out and stopped talking to each other. Hell, she even dated a few people here and there, with the same outcomes. But it was all that Josie ever knew, so she didn't really make much of it.

In her freshman year of highschool, Josie stumbled upon a beautiful, popular, stereotypical rich-kid. Josie thought nothing of it -- she wasn't into that kind of clique -- but the girl kept talking to her. And eventually? Her personality grew on Josie. She had found her first best friend of her highschool times: Peach.

Now, Josie wasn't expecting more than the usual with Peach. It went routinely, and after about 6 months of being inseparably close, things slowed down between the two. But Peach did something that Josie had never known anyone else to do, coming after her time and time again, determined to reignite things. She was pleasantly surprised by Peach's care for her, and the friendship lit back up with a renewed spark. For the few years, the two were a duo to last the ages. Their friendship even lasted into college. It was new for Josie, and she loved it. Peach was her everything, someone she could always turn to and appreciate. Peach spoiled Josie with gifts and trips, and Josie was always there when Peach wanted her.

But things would come to a crashing halt after both of them graduated college. The two were living together in a small apartment near their old campus, and each day was like a dream for the both of them. This setup worked for two years, both of them as happy as can be. One night, Peach suggested going to a new bar that had recently opened up, and Josie happily obliged. The two got incredibly drunk, and in a haze, they managed to make it back to their apartment, leaning on each other all the way. Once they made it back into their home, a drunk Peach turned to Josie and... kissed her. Hard. Even through the blur of a blood-alcohol-content high enough to make a fratboy whistle, Josie could feel that it wasn't just the alcohol. There was a pent-up passion behind it, something deeper than drunkenness.

Josie, in shock, pushed her away. Peach then sunk to the floor, sobbing, and just begging her to come look at something. Peach cried that it would change things, and show Josie how much she loved her. Despite what had just happened, she still held her closest friend in high respect, and was willing to give her a chance. But what Peach did next would ruin both of them -- she pulled out an album, filled with pictures of Josie. Some were with Peach, from their trips or outings, but others... taken through parted curtains, cracks in doors, or off mirrors. Horrified, she locked herself in her room. Frantically searching for somewhere to escape, she found the ad for Arborly, and in a second signed up.

Name: Finch 'Finn' O’Reilly

Age: 26

Gender: (Oh) Man

Sexuality: Bi Bi Bi

Tower They’re In: He quite likes the sound of being a Hiker, but if that ain't a possibility, he doesn't really mind where he gets placed. Heck, this whole park is beautiful, you could tell him to spend the whole darned Summer in the middle of the Devils Anus and he'd go, happily too.

Description:

80823965_3038072309750588_3624351347215695872_n.jpg

Finn stands at just about 5'10", perhaps 5'11" when he's in big boots. He's actually relatively tan with regards to complexion. Not quite sure where in the depths of the ancestry that's come from, certainly not the Irish side that's for sure...

But let's see, otherwise? He's got a happy sort of face, if that makes any sense. He might not be smiling constantly, but it's a rare occasion when he frowns. Oh, also, his hair, despite looking completely and utterly ordinary, has a complete and utter mind of it's own with regards to the rules of gravity. Honestly, he doesn't know what to do about it. Hats are just the easiest control method at the end of the day.

80710201_572257116902208_4603930338282962944_n.png

Personality: The best way to describe Finch...

You know how in those old Western's you'd always have these guys who just wandered the plains and prairies, never staying in one place for too long, full of old mystic sounding wisdom and advice? Well, add some impeccably good manners, a passion for stone-skipping, and a collection of the worlds very best Dad jokes and BOOM, you've got yourself a Finch Ladies and Gentlemen.

Nah, but truthfully? He's a nice enough guy. Always wants to make sure everyone's happy, and being well taken care of. Bit of a Goofball too? (And sometimes without meaning to be) Really really laid back too, I mean seriously. Man takes the word Casual to new levels. Suppose you could see that as a blessing or a curse really, but Hey-Ho.

While Finn's a kind gentle soul, it doesn't make him a particularly discrete one I suppose. It's odd to describe. Awkward's too strong of a word really, but sometimes he can just be a bit too,
'contrasting' with regards to attitudes and emotions towards what a situation might actually require. For example, he didn't shed a single tear throughout his Mom's funeral, just stood there benignly smiling the whole way through.

He get's a bit caught up in himself sometimes too. Dragged down by nobody but himself, and often doesn't resurface for a couple of days. Yeah, just a bit of an odd guy I suppose...

Likes: Palisade Peaches! Ethiopian Jazz, Finding odd or rare plants and flowers he hasn't seen before, Shorelines, Home-Made Soda Bread, Rambling, Any and all Good Boi's Dogs, Fly-Fishing, Songs by Joan Baez, Kayaking and Surfing.

Dislikes: Elvis Presley, The Dentist, Being Cold for too long, Giving up too soon on something, Olives, and finally, people calling him a Hobo.

That last one happens, more often than he'd like it to....

Fears: On the existential side of things; Having nobody know who he is, or one day even remembering he existed, the idea of being pretty much alone for the rest of his days.

And on the more practical side; Heights that are too High (He can manage the medium-ish ones), Mice, Death itself, Peter Gabriel (?), Surgery, and...

Now don't go spreading this last one around, he's awfully embarrassed...

T H E - D E N T I S T

Skills:
- Actually rather handy with regards to fixing, mending and generally repairing things. Just has that sort of engineer, buildy-man type mind I think.
- Amateur Whittler... emphasis on the amateur part.
- Rather decent musician, he can play a fair handful of instruments.
- Good Forager, can find all sorts of goodies hidden away in the undergrowth.
- Relatively OK at navigating, good with reading the stars, can even tell a horoscope or two, or so he claims.

Something They Have No Experience In:
- Knots. Awful at them. Just absolutely awful. Please for the love of god don't ask him to tie one, I'm begging you.
- Patience. This boy is easily distracted and antsy as all heck. Won't stand (completely) still for much.
- Rock Climbing, in a serious professional sense. If he wants or needs to he'll clamber up a Nook or Cranny here and there. But doing it safely, with all the ropes and what have you, not much of a clue about that.

3 Personal Items They’ve Brought Along:
- Penknife, with a few good bits and Bobs on it, as it just seems to make practical sense really.
- A Bluegrass Mandolin, anything else would be to bothersome and bulky. But a Lil Ol' Mandolin's just the right size for casual outdoor adventure's in his opinion.
- And finally, a old picture of him and his Family. He reckon's he's about seven in the picture? But he can't be 100% sure.

Is This Their First Time as a Look Out for Arborly?

It is actually, yes! Thank you for asking...

Why Did They Come to Arborly?

147296.jpg

Background: Finch was born on Wednesday the 29th of January (So an Aquarius ♒ ), in 1992, to Nora and Laramie O’Reilly of Boulder, Colorado. He has a sister who's two years older than him, Nell.

Now he doesn't too much enjoy recounting or wallowing in the preamble and context that's needed to be told to understand his sad little tale of woe. Therefore, if it's alright with you, we'll just be quick as we can here and get on with it so we can spend more time focusing on the present and the new. So, to be as blunt and brief as possible;

Firstly, Nell had always struggled with her head. Some things just weren't quite right with her, in odd hard-to-explain little ways. The eventual diagnosis was a type of Autism. And I put emphasis on the Eventual aspect as she was only identified as such after she had nearly set the local community centre on fire. Nell was sent to a specialist unit near Denver that would help her and accommodate her specialist needs. Finch was 12 when she left. But, she's happy there, and most importantly safe. Finn visits regularly. Laramie O’Reilly struggled with Alcohol for some time before either of them were born. Quite drastically so truth be told. He was not a irresponsible man though, Heavens no. By the time Nell was born he had managed to stay five years sober. But if you do enough damage, eventually it will catch up to you. He died from Cancer of the Oesophagus when Finn was 16, Nell 18. And then, it was Nora's time to leave. Their Mother died in 2016 from a stroke.

So, that's that.

After his Mothers passing, decisions had to be made by Finn, and Finn alone, that considerably altered his circumstances in the world. He had to sell his family home. It was too expensive to keep with his meagre salary, and renting rooms out wasn't an option. So, Finn was brave, got Nells approval, and sold the place. Ever since then, he's just sort of... wandered about?

No really, that's pretty much what he's done this whole time. He was already an outdoorsy sort from the mere circumstances of just being brought up in a place like Boulder, so taking to the open road and just giving in to nature wasn't too much of a scary leap to be honest. The great outdoors soothed him, helped him come to terms with everything that had happened. But there is one thing however, that's beginning to pester him a bit.

Put simply, Finn does not want to be lonely.

He can feel the sensation creeping closer with every day that goes by, It's a reality that is not unbelievable, or that far off really. Thing is, as nice as just living carefree, and plodding along from place to place is, it's awfully hard to make connections to the people around you when you can't stay in the same town for more than a week.

So, although he does rather like all the new sights you get to witness when rambling across the states, he'd treasure and value some good solid friendships more for the time being he thinks. It'll be hard to remain stationary, truly it will. 'Settle' is a word that sits uneasy on his tongue. But taking this job over the Summer will be a Baby-step in the right direction hopefully. He's got the whole park to have a good old wander around in after all. And who knows, he might even meet somebody...

Name: Ramona Aviva Uzunov-McLaren

Age: 25

Gender: Female

Sexuality: Pansexual

Tower They’re In: Falcon Rock Tower (or any other which has an opening!)

Personality: Ramona is pretty outgoing, and she's very open and easy to get along with. She doesn't like too much conflict, however, she doesn't like no conflict because that can make things more than a little bit boring. She has a dark sense of humor, and that's her way of coping with the circumstances that have happened in her life. She's determined- but that means when her mind is made up, it cannot be changed. She holds grudges for very, very long times and once her trust is broken, it's near impossible to repair it. Ramona is a bit vain as well, she always likes to look somewhat presentable. She's ride or die, her loyalty knows no bounds.. which could be good or bad, depending on how far she would go for someone that she cared about. She's competitive and head-strong, and she loves to laugh and makes very quick friends- and quick enemies.

Likes: Animals, the smell of fresh air, the feeling of the sun on her skin, cryptids and other paranormal phenomena, ghost stories, dark humor, grunge music, salty foods, hunting

Dislikes: Messes, very large objects, liars and thieves, ugly laughs, bitter foods, country music

Fears: Very large objects, aliens, demonic possessions, drowning, losing her family and friends, not being trusted and believed

Skills: She's a good hunter, can build fires, great swimmer, can run for long distances, has CPR training, can set up camp shelters if no tent is available, can read star maps

Something They Have No Experience In: She's never had to save anyone or been in a situation of crisis in an outdoor setting. She doesn't know wild plants, what's poisonous and what isn't. She's not a trained lifeguard and doesn't have much experience with ATV equipment.

3 Personal Items They’ve Brought Along: Her phone, her wallet (which has her ID and other items), and a thick book about true crime.

Is This Their First Time as a Look Out for Arborly?: Yes, this is her first year.

Why Did They Come to Arborly? Growing up in a national forest, she figured this would be perfect for her.

Background: Ramona was born in Mesa, AZ to a Jewish mother and a Presbyterian father. Having been born with Waardenberg's syndrome that she inherited from her mother, she was always deaf in one ear and had mismatched eyes. Having been told that surgery wasn't a viable option to alleviate the deafness, Ramona has had a hearing aid since she was old enough to use one. When she was five, her grandparents passed away, causing both parents to move to back to Michigan where they were originally from. Things were normal until Ramona was 8, when her mother began an affair and her parents got a prompt divorce.

When this happened, Ramona's life fell apart. She was put in the middle and essentially used as a communicator between both parents. Her mother was bipolar, and she often times would refuse to take her medication out of paranoia. Her father moved two hours away and wasn't able to see her much, and Ramona was left to deal with the fallout. Many men came and went during the next year, making her generally very distrusting. Ramona's mother got hooked on pain killers, which turned into a horrible heroin addiction. This addiction led to her mother's death when she was 12, and she was taken by the state and placed with her father. Her father lived in the Huron National Forest in a cabin that was originally built by his parents before the land was declared government property. There are maybe only seven to ten other homes in the area. Here, she was taught how to trust and love again through fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and being one with nature.

In high school, Ramona excelled in reading and writing, as well as biology. She graduated at one of the top three spots in her class of 150, and she was on the track team as a cross-country runner. She got into her dream university and attended four years, graduating with a bachelor's degree in environmental science with a special focus in freshwater ecosystems. For a long time, she worked for the DNR in her home town for the Huron National Forest, however for a change of scenery, she decided to apply at Arborly and get far away from home to meet some new people or even have a new start.

Name: Lyle Archeletta
Age: 20, Almost 21
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Pansexual
Hiker or Lookout: Lookout
Tower:

Description: A Quick Doodle Lyle isn't a person who focuses too much on his appearance. His hair is blond with natural streaks and waves because of the time he spends outdoors and in the ocean. He lets his hair grow rather long before he eventually cuts it, simply pinning it back with bobby pins and hair clips so it doesn't fall in his eyes before he does. Frankly, Lyle would much rather spend twenty minutes on the beach than spend twenty minutes in a salon. He has a warm tan, but an odd complexion due to odd tan lines. Where his wetsuit always covered his skin, he's paler, so he does he best to hide it with longer sleeves. Lyle has gorgeous eyes, they're always the feature of his that gets the most compliments. They're a very light blue and already forming wrinkles around the edges because of how much he smiles and squints. He has a relatively average build. He stands at 5'5" slightly shorter than normal but not so much that it ever seems to bother him. He doesn't have much weight on him, but his muscles are rather defined because of the amount of time he spends swimming. Whenever he isn't wearing his wetsuit, his style is very simple. He likes tank tops and loose fitting t-shirts, particularly bright colored shirts with some sort of design. Retro band tees are a personal favorite of his. Bermuda shorts or swimming trunks are a norm for him, only wearing pants for formal events and when the weather is cold enough. Lyle has an unusual aversion to shoes. Unless he has to, he won't wear any or he'll reluctantly throw on some flip flops. When he does put a little more effort into his appearance, he'll wear bright colored converse with a pair of funky socks. His style has always been bright and he's sure he won't change that. He's constantly seen sporting jewelry. He is never seen without the sunset-colored paper bead necklace he made himself on a vacation to Jamaica with one of his foster families. When he isn't in the water where he might lose them, he likes to wear anklets, bracelets, and piercings often. He has his ears pierced and a septum piercing, though he doesn't wear the septum quite as often.

Personality: There is hardly a moment when the young man isn't sporting a smile, genuinely enjoying life so much that the smallest thing can make him giddy. Most of his friends back home simply refer to him as "happy," because, well, he is. He's an incredibly positive person, always choosing to look at the bright side of things no matter how grim or dark they might actually be. He's experienced dark, he says, and it never did him any good to constantly be negative about it. There was a time he had been in such a dark place and it feels so good to be out of it, he can't help but to constantly smile. Lyle is extremely extroverted, a social butterfly at hard. He absolutely loves talking to people and finds a new friend just about everywhere he goes. He's the type of person to make friends in grocery stores or waiting in line at a coffee shop. Basically, he's just a person who loves people. He wants everyone to be happy, he feels like they deserve it.

This positive attitude he constantly sports is ultimately his down fall. Lyle is easily stressed, often finding it difficult to try and be the constantly positive person for everyone. He's often the person people go to to rant or lift their mood, and while he doesn't mind, he rarely finds that he has that person for himself. This causes him to be burnt out and stressed more often than he cares to admit. Lyle also tends to be blissfully unaware of how bad a situation really is. Always choosing to see things the best possible way he can, this causes him to ignore the bad things until they eventually come back to bite him.

Positive Social Open-Minded Patient Dreamy Unaggressive Clingy Compulsive Gullible Secretive

Likes: Animals, the ocean, water sports, fruits and veggies, mellow music, meeting new people, jokes and bad puns, insects, the smell of the beach, the smell of coconut (but not the taste), teaching, learning new things, anything and everything about marine biology & the ocean, and much more!

Dislikes: Being alone, impolite people, the taste and smell of coffee, getting a mouthful of salt water, people who dig holes on beaches (and don't refill them), feeling sad or disliked, loud noises, thunderstorms, and more!

Fears: Lyle is secretly afraid that his parents don't love him as much as they do his siblings, as they are related by blood and he was adopted. While he still respects their lives and will not kill them, he is very afraid of spiders and roaches, except daddy long legs, of course. He's scared of being alone or feeling unwanted and unloved. Aside from that, he doesn't think he's afraid of much.

Skills: He is an excellent swimmer, it's all he's been doing for the past five years or so. He spends as much time as possible on the beach, either swimming, surfing, boating, or scuba diving just off the coast. He has excellent stamina and can hike, swim, and more for a good while before getting too tired. Although he isn't as adept in freshwater, he is excellent at identify saltwater animals, some plants, and their different behaviors and uses. He knows how to build fires, though he hasn't practiced the skill before. And, lastly, he is an excellent communicator.

Something he has no experience in: Lyle is almost completely clueless when it comes to identifying different plants and their uses. Once, he had a reaction to poison ivy all over his body after he picked some "pretty flowers" for one of his foster parents. All of his knowledge about first aid comes from medical shows he watches with his mom, and he's sure that isn't very accurate. He also has no experience in hunting or self-defense.

Three personal items he brought along: He, of course, brought along the handmade paper bead necklace he made in Jamaica. It was the only time he had been out of country and he had such a great time with the family he was being fostered, and later adopted by, at the time. He brought his journal, covered in fun stickers and full of many different passages. He's had it since before he was adopted and keeps it around to either remind himself of the past people he'd stayed with or to scribble down something new he learned or experienced. Lastly, he brought along his favorite ukulele, hoping to bring some of the beach vibes from back home to his new job in Arborly.

Is this his first time as Lookout for Arborly? It is! And he's very excited. He can't wait to pull everyone together for a group photo for his Instagram.

Why did he come to Arborly? His mother recommended it to him after seeing an ad on Facebook, knowing he loved nature. Wanting to expand his horizons to more than just the beach life, he eagerly applied.

Background:
Growing up hadn't always been the easiest for Lyle. He was given up for adoption at birth, his birth moving having died during delivery and his father unable to deal with the loss and the raising of a child on his own. The first few years of living in an orphanage never seemed to bother him. The owners were always very kind and raised him to be a kind young man. He had made many, many friends out of the other children who stayed with him. His life began to change a little more the first time he was fostered, not wanting to be taken away from his friends, but badly wanting a family to call his own.

The years after the first time he was fostered were both the best and worst, he says. He spent a lot of time in different foster homes, having both excellent experiences that he cherishes, and some rather awful experiences he'd rather forget about entirely. The years he was being fostered had always been the most difficult for him. He would fall in love with a family, only to be torn away some time later. Then he would go to a different home and it would either be an entire new experience, or he'd fall in love with them again. He doesn't much talk about his bad experiences with past foster families, but he is always happy to talk about the good ones.

When he was fifteen years old, he was fostered by the family that would eventually adopt him. They were an older couple who missed having a bunch of kids in the home, their two oldest having moved out at the time. Originally intending to just foster him, they chose to go through with adopting after they fell in love, and Lyle did the same.

It was through them that Lyle discovered his love for the ocean and outdoors. They had a beach house on the coast of Florida, just a minute walk from the beach Lyle would spend most of his days on.

Description:
steampunk_mechanic_by_slatereaper.jpg

A 5'9" woman with auburn hair. Usually wears brown clothing as everyday wear along with beads and a dreamcatcher and an occult symbol on necklaces around her neck

Personality: Andrea is someone that has lived a lot of life in such a short time. And as such, she tends to have a complicated view of the world. These days, she often tries to look on the brighter side of things due to the change in her fortune, but every once in a while, especially when things get tough, a harsher view of the world and the people that live in it comes out from her previous experiences. She is quick to offer solutions when she feels that she can contribute, but can get just frustrated just as quickly if those same solutions don't work out or if they get ignored. Andrea can have quite the temper on her if her buttons get pushed, but tries to maintain a calm atmosphere even through having the highs and lows of hyperfocus on a any given task.

Likes: Feeling at peace, Food( Specifically meat related foods), Music of the 80s and 90s, The occult, Fresh Air, Mechanical parts

Dislikes: Talking with people for extended periods of time, Being hungry, Smoking, the smell of decay

Fears: Large Spiders, Being in enclosed spaces, Complete Darkness

Skills: Andrea is skilled in survival (from living on the streets), Mechanical engineering( From working on vehicles, generators, radiators, etc), First Aid(Basic), Lockpicking, Slight of hand (Pickpocketing but also misdirection), Being able to wield a knife efficiently( For defense and in repair work)

Something They Have No Experience In: Andrea cannot use guns. She cannot swim and has no real experience with wild plants and animals outside of those that happen to grow in the city. Also has pretty poor social skills

3 Personal Items They’ve Brought Along: A drone for aerial recon, A lockpick "tool kit", A sketchbook with colored pencils

Is This Their First Time as a Look Out for Arborly?
Yes. She only recently arrived to take the position working in the lookout.

Why Did They Come to Arborly?
Andrea came to Arborly to get away from the world at large, especially the city. Even though it had been many years, there were some bad times from the city that she wished to forget. Including her time living on the streets and doing whatever she could to survive. Living as a mechanic for the last 5 years, she decided that even that life, she needed to get away from. And out here in Arborly, it seemed to her, was as out and away from the city as she could get. Where nature was prevalent and she had little to remind her of her old life.

Background:

Andrea Ivers only knew the loneliness that came from living on the street. She grew up with a mother and they were constantly in and out of homeless shelters for most of her childhood. Once she was old enough, her mother had her start stealing things so that they could live. Starting with a loaf of bread here, a plate of cookies there. But then it spread to picking that man's pocket of his wallet here and nabbing a woman's purse there. She didn't know any better and was just doing what she could for her and her mom to survive. Her mother passed away when she was 16 due in no small part to her smoking addiction (which was where most of her stolen money went). But the one thing that she held onto from her mother was her mother's love of the occult. Andrea's mother would always tell her stories of the things that were out there. The things that hunted in the dark and the things that protected the people from those darker things. It caused her to begin to fear the darkness and prefer the light even more.

Andrea continued to steal to survive, and she was quite good at it. She managed to live decently as a homeless woman for a while. At 21 she got caught stealing from a mechanics shop, but instead of turning her in, he decided that he was to take her under his wing and teach her the way of things as long as she helped around the shop. Having a roof under her head seemed like a good deal. So she agreed to the older man's deal. Over time, she came to realize that the old man was divorced and she reminded him of his daughter that he lost the custody of, treating her as if she was his own flesh and blood. He taught her the many tricks of the trade and even though her social skills left something to be desired, her mechanical skills became quite good. To relax at times, she started taking up drawing, but was never very good at it. Not that that stopped her from doing it.

After many years together, Andrea started to feel back a certain wanderlust that came from her years being homeless and always on the move. Things were happy here, but she just felt a compelling urge to leave and move on. She talked with her father figure for many days and even though he didn't agree that she should leave, he wouldn't hold her there against her will. Andrea agreed that se would try to stay in touch and then ended up becoming a park lookout in Arborley.

Age: 22
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Gay and trying to be out.

Hiker or Lookout: Lookout
Tower They’re In: Please put him somewhere nice. Or don't.

Description: Chandler is best described as a mix between Indian and Asian, in simple terms. He has medium brown skin that's on the lighter side and has minimum blemishes or scars, except for one that is on his right shoulder that he got from a fall when he was younger. His hair is straight and black, cut short on the sides but left longer on the top. He often runs his hands through his hair to keep it out of his face, but occasionally he styles it as well and puts gel in it. When he doesn't mess with his hair, it tends to fall towards the left side (and brush against his eyelashes), as his natural part is to the left. He has two piercings in his lobe on both of his ears, although he only tends to wear three earrings (two in his right ear and one in his left). He stands at 5'10 and is healthy weight wise, mostly due to all of the running around he's done in his life. His eyes are upturned, dark brown, and they show his emotions. He smiles often and it's an expression that he wears very easily, both with teeth and without. He tries his best to present himself as someone open to any and all conversation, and as someone who can be relied on. He expresses this by having straight posture and being incredibly attentive to those he's with. He doesn't cross his arms very frequently, but whenever he does it's usually due to a bad mood or because he's lost in thought. He more commonly bunches up his shoulders (or presses his lips together) when he's stressed, but he likes to think he manages to hide his tenseness pretty well behind his smile.

His usual style of dress is usually classy and polished, but he also tries to be trendy. He's frequently seen in button-up shirts or a polo of some sort, and when the weather is bad he wears expensive jackets or rain coats. He does own handmade things, like scarves from his sister and mittens from his friends, and he tries to wear jeans because they are more comfortable. He went to a private school the majority of his life, and he hasn't managed to shake the preppy style completely yet. When he isn't necessarily dressing to impress (although he usually is), he can be found in bright sweaters, patterned jackets with minor but purposeful fraying or tears, the occasional sweater vest and, rarely, a simple t-shirt. His clothes are not usually baggy on him and fit him well, but he does have some shirts and sweaters that are just slightly over-sized. Because they're comfortable, and he doesn't think he always needs to look so put together. He has some clothes that don't fit his mold entirely; he has exactly two pairs of jeans that have holes in them (although the holes are small and don't show much skin), a denim jacket with a green plaid patterns and a single black t-shirt that has a very noticeable hole near the neckline. He also has sweatshirts and joggers, which he wears whenever he's lounging around or doesn't feel at all inspired to out together an outfit.

Personality:
Outgoing | Moral | Helpful | Loyal | Kind | Friendly | Spiritual | Honest | Brave | Curious | Stubborn | Cautious | Naive | Thoughtful | Moody | Opinionated | Selfless | Fanciful

Chandler is a good person, plain and simple. Everyone that has ever known him or interacted with him knows that he's truly a kind soul and that he never wishes to harm anyone, and they also know how gentle he is with every person that he interacts with, no matter their age or appearance. He's respectful and courteous to everyone as well, even if they've wronged him or don't particularly like him. He loves being relied on and thinks he's rather reliable and trustworthy, and he also enjoys helping people fix problems or answer questions, or just being helpful in one way or another. It's what makes him happiest, honestly. Something that sets Chandler apart from a lot of his (old) church friends is that he's incredibly open minded; he doesn't care about ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, gender, or anything like that at all. He just cares if you're a decent human being. He believes that everyone should have equal rights and that everyone deserves love, no matter who or where it comes from. He also believes in and lives his life by the golden rule: treat others the way you want to be treated.

He's an outgoing person who enjoys making lots of friends, and many people like being his friend. He's compassionate and volunteers in soup kitchens frequently, and he was a camp counselor at a Christian camp until recently. He's well known in his community for going out of his way to help people out, and parents of children admire him and wish for their children to grow up to be like him. To be proper and moral and kind, just like he is. Although he is all of this, he has a much more sarcastic and cocky and witty side to him as well. He's much more open around his family and his best friend, and he's not as "pure" as he probably seems. Granted, he is still mostly innocent, but he also is not perfect and loses his temper. There have been moments where he's snapped before, and there are also moments where he is just doesn't feel like talking to anyone (either because he's upset or drowning in pessimistic thoughts). He gets impatient, can be rather sarcastic, and is mildly irritable as well. He tries to hide this from people he's not very close with, because he dislikes this about himself. Once he gets comfortable with people, however, he shows his other, less pure and wholesome side. He's passionate as hell about what he believes in and doesn't back down or retreat whenever someone challenges his opinions. He defends his friends and tends to have blind faith in them, because he trusts that they are good people and that they won't make him look like an idiot. This works out for him sometimes, but it also has broken him slightly just recently and he is trying to recover.

He was betrayed by the majority of his old church, and he has since left it. He feels completely lost, hurt and he doesn't know what to do. He's closed up just slightly because of this, and he's fallen back into a habit of keeping most of his stressful thoughts to himself. He doesn't talk about his own personal problems very much anymore because he hates burdening people, and he ends up getting stressed and imploding/melting down/burning out because of it. He used to talk about anything to anyone - well, except for his sexuality. That was always a topic he never was brave enough to bring up. The rather stifling environment he grew up in helped contribute to him not being entirely out, and he was also concerned because he was well aware of his friends views on certain "different" things. He wants to find someone to dump all of his thoughts onto, but he also is afraid of being betrayed again, so he just keeps to himself. He's incredibly naive, also. He's aware that he's naive, that he doesn't get as much as everyone else does about life in general, but he grew up in a way that prevented him from exploring various different things in his teens. His trust in people is also double sided: people could get close to him and be lying about everything, and he would probably not suspect them. This doesn't mean that he's an idiot or that he's completely blind, he does notice when people act suspicious, but he still chooses to trust in people because he wants to have faith in them. He's incredibly thoughtful as well, and often reflects on certain things that have happened in a day. This sometimes leads him towards a bad mood, but he's often able to recover from them.

Likes: Participating in all kinds of activities (church, camp, family, social), his family, his friends, trees, water, being outdoors, reading, solving interpersonal problems or helping kids, rabbits, all mint things, blankets, making friendship bracelets, aliens, musicals and plays and other creative projects, homecooked meals and baked goods. Survival shows, like Survivor and Survivor Man. He really loves Survivor.
Dislikes: Not being part of a church anymore, the new feeling of loss he's experiencing, jerks, people pitying him, not being able to help, coconut, crude humor, when people judge him because he's religious, solving puzzles or other things that require thinking analytically, that he's not very creative, being put into situations he finds awkward, baking, sour stuff (like pickles, lemons, limes, sauerkraut).
Fears: His primary fear right now is not being able to find somewhere he belongs again. He also is terrified that, once news spreads of what happened between him and his former friends, he'll no longer be as respected and liked among his community. He's afraid he'll become ostracized, and it that happens, he'll have no idea what to do at all. He's also not a fan of cockroaches or wasps.

Skills: Great interpersonal capabilities, cooperative, good at thinking of other solutions to things, first aid training, knows how to tie all kinds of knots, physically fit and has high stamina, good at navigation/directions, limited survivor skills (from watching shows, mostly).
Something They Have No Experience In: Hunting, tracking, trapping, identifying plants, limited knowledge on animals, no knowledge on geology, meteorology or ecology.
3 Personal Items They’ve Brought Along: His bible, a big bag of various colored thread for making bracelets, his favorite blanket (it's red).

Is This Their First Time as a Look Out for Arborly?
Yes!

Why Did They Come to Arborly?
He mostly saw it as an opportunity to get away from the confusion that he's now experiencing, and he also enjoys nature. He might not have all the right skills, but he's flexible and can learn on the job, or from anyone else that'd offer to teach him.

Background:
Chandler and his older brother were adopted by mixed race gay couple when he was just a baby. He grew up loved and cared for deeply by both of his dads, and he was constantly surrounded by people that went to his dads' churches. It's no surprise, then, that his parents enrolled him into a Catholic private school when he was old enough to go. Only one of his dad's was Catholic, the other was just Christian, but both of his parents agreed that sending Chandler to a private school would be the best option. The other schools surrounding the neighborhood just weren't what his parents wanted to send him to, his older brother was going to it already, and one of his dad's had gone to the same school Chandler would be going to. It just made sense, and as a kid, Chandler didn't mind it much. He was surrounded by people that also believed in God and who had the same values that he did, and he was sheltered from the cruelty of the world. He did see his classmates being cruel to one another, but he was a brave child and always stepped in to defend the victim. He grew to be popular when he was young, and he kept his popularity even as he and his classmates grew older.

When he was in his preteens and early teens, he began to see just how different he was from most of his classmates. They were very verbal in their opinions on people that were different from the norm, and he began to feel uncomfortable because he completely disagreed with all of them. After all, he had two dads and his older brothers best friend was a lesbian. It was ridiculous that his classmates were being so phobic and annoying about people they didn't even know, and he tried his best to distance himself from them. It didn't work that well, because he was still friendly with them and they still thought of him as their friend. He kept his thoughts to himself, though, and kept being friends with them, although he never got super close with them. He didn't want to draw attention to himself, and breaking off a friendship for no apparent reason would just cause problems. Plus, he was already experiencing enough emotional turmoil, with puberty and hormones raging, so it was easier to be quiet and just stick with his friends. He did well enough in his classes and was un-problematic, and involved heavily in church and camp during summers.

He met someone during one summer when he was twelve, named Skylar, and they quickly became Chandler's best friend. The two bonded almost instantly, they were always together during camp, and Chandler confessed to Skylar that he had a bad crush on his classmate. Who was a guy. Skylar responded by saying that they were crushing hard on a girl and a girl and someone back at their own school, and the two gossiped about each others crushes. It was a great summer for Chandler, and he felt brave enough to talk to his family about his feelings as well. When he got home, he almost instantly told his sister, who greeted him first. He decided not to say anything so suddenly, but during the family dinner he brought up his friend, and then proceeded to bring up his feelings for his friend. He didn't know exactly what he was, and it might just be because of puberty, but his dad's and siblings accepted the confession easily. Of course they would, because they were all raised to be accepting of everyone. It wasn't even that big of a fear for Chandler: he was loved, and it would make absolutely no sense for his dad's to be disappointed in him for liking someone who was the same gender. Later that night, his siblings came into his room and also said they were there for him if he ever wanted to ask for help or just talk or anything. Chandler got embarrassed, because his older brother teased him, and he kicked them out after thanking them. The next day, his dad's asked if he still wanted to go to his school or if he wanted to transfer to a different school, and Chandler said he wanted to stay at his school. He liked his classmates and grew up with them, and he doubted anything terrible would happen if anyone found out about him having a crush on a guy. His dad's told him to just be careful, and he said he would be, and then summer ended.

He went through freshman and sophomore year easily, although he did date a couple of girls to try to blend in with his friends. It was never right, but Chandler treated them kindly and did the best he could. He was annoyed with himself for being so cowardly, and his exes could tell that he was hiding something. After all, he always seemed to have something he wanted to say. All of his friends and classmates could tell that something was bothering him, but no one ever knew what it could be. Chandler had a lot he wanted to say, and a lot that he was keeping to himself, but one dramatic Friday during junior year he just snapped. He confronted his friends, the phobic ones that he was never really a fan of, and he admitted that he liked guys. And girls, obviously, because he had girlfriends, but so what if someone liked guys too? The confrontation was the talk of the entire school that day, rumors spread around quickly, and the following weekend Chandler was a total mess. He went over to Skylar's house and stayed there for almost the entire weekend, but his siblings ended up pulling him back home. His parent's talked with him and comforted him, reassuring him that it'd be okay. His siblings helped the best they could too, and by the end of Sunday he was feeling pretty okay. Not really perfect and happy, but he'd be able to go to school and face whatever was waiting for him.

Thankfully, most people at his school didn't care that much that he liked guys (and girls). There were some people that ignored him and others that apologized to him, but most of his classmates were impressed and grateful that he confronted the other jerk classmates. Turns out that pretty much no one was a fan of their attitude, and Chandler had done everyone a favor by speaking up against them. He was well-liked and popular, so he never suffered any bullying or harassment. It helped that he "liked girls" too, and some of his classmates believed it was just a phase and he'd figure out the right path soon enough. That was annoying to deal with, but Chandler did just deal with it and graduated from school. He was still heavily involved in his church and he became a camp counselor at the summer camp he'd attended every summer as a kid, and he worked some other part time jobs for a couple of years. He knew he wanted to go to college, but he didn't know what he'd study, or what he even wanted to do. He helped Skylar with a video project that lasted a year and involved exploring the entire country, and during that time the two friends got even closer. There was never any romance between them, but they had a blast being together for the year, and when they returned back to their hometown Skylar announced that they wanted to come to Chandler's church. Chandler was elated, because he loved both his church and Skylar a lot, so they both went to Chandler's church as soon as they could.

It was a mistake.

Chandler's church friends were not accepting of Skylar. They didn't get what agender meant, and when Skylar tried to explain they were just aggressive and rude. Chandler was horrified and tried to mediate the conversation, and he tried to placate his church friends, but they just left without listening to him. Skylar told Chandler that it was okay, they were used to it, but Chandler insisted that just because they were used to it doesn't mean it's okay. He took Skylar back home and apologized for what happened, but Skylar knew that it wasn't his fault and tried to reassure him that they were fine. It didn't really work, and when Chandler went back by himself the next day to talk with his friends, he overheard them talking. They were badmouthing Skylar, and Chandler asked them to stop. They didn't deserve that - it was completely uncalled for, and they were being completely closed-minded and incredibly rude. His church friends turned the conversation onto him and brought up the fact that he liked guys, and how unnatural that was. Chandler tried to defend himself, but he was outnumbered and, honestly, incredibly hurt. These were people that he had grown up with, but they were treating him like some kind of freak now. They wouldn't listen to him. They kept calling him pretty terrible names, and although he tried to remain calm, he just couldn't. He lashed out, not physically, but with words. He cursed and criticized them, and they responded by getting physical. He received a black eye from one of his former friends, but he refused to fight them back and just ran away.

He didn't go back to his church for an entire week, and that was completely unnatural for him. His family were concerned about what happened and he refused to say, but when he went to visit Skylar one day he heard about a job at a national park that could take him away from his town for a while. He asked about it, then researched it, and then applied. He was too afraid to go back to his church, and after he had calmed down and his wound had healed he told his family about what had happened. His dad, who was a part of the church as well, quickly left the church and told everyone who was a member of it that their family would be taking a step back. Chandler doesn't really want to not have a church he belongs to, because it's all he's ever known, but he has no idea what to do. He hopes that being away from his hometown will give him time to breathe and collect himself, and that it'll help the members of his church get over what happened too. He also hopes that he'll at least enjoy this new job, and that he won't get homesick and want to go back home after two weeks.

Name: Wylan Alfie Barnes

Nickname(s): Wy

Age: 25

Gender: Male

Sexuality: Bisexual

Hiker or Lookout: Lookout

Tower They’re In: Rosewood Peaks

Description: Wylan is more anxious over appearance than he’d like to be, so he often looks rather tidy when in public. This doesn’t apply as much when he’s doing work in parks, since he doesn’t interact with many people during times such as those, but he still keeps his hair combed and face clean-shaven.

His hair is short, wavy, and a dark brown. There are a few grey strands hidden throughout (due to stress, probably), though he desperately tries to hide then whenever he brushes/combs his hair. Often it doesn’t work. His eyebrows are a bit bushy, though unlike other parts of his appearance, he doesn’t mind all that much.

He stands at about 5”5, which he claims is a perfectly average height; some still view him as short anyway, though. His skin is olive-toned with freckles that are visible if you really get a good look at him, and when he smiles, his eyes squint a bit and his dimples show. His eyes are dark brown, and he has sharp features.

On the back of his neck, he has a moth tattoo, and on his inner right wrist he has a tattoo of a bee. He has a birthmark on his upper left arm that kind of looks like an outline of the state of New Jersey, but he refuses to acknowledge this comparison even though multiple people have pointed it out to him.

When it comes to clothing, he keeps it simple. When out of the park, he can often be found in jeans and a t-shirt, along with sneakers and his wool-lined brown jacket. When in the park, he likes to be practical. He has hiking boots and a few good sets of comfortable high socks, and has a couple of hiking pants that roll up just in case it gets hot. Since he works summers, he often wears a tank-top, but does have a few t-shirts and henleys stashed away just in case. Other than this, he wears a necklace that has a stag beetle encased in resin as the pendant. He refuses to tell people whether its real or not; it’s possible he doesn’t even know. He also has a baseball cap and a rubber beaded bracelet that he wears daily.

Personality: From the view of an on-looking who doesn’t know much about him, Wylan seems to be a very annoyed person. Some of the things he says sound unempathetic, and sometimes, he seems to ignore people on purpose, as well as take some joking statements seriously. He also seems to dislike interacting with people, as either he ends up being dead quiet, not listening, or just leaving entirely.

Truth be told, though, he’s just very bad with people. When it comes to being comforting, he simply doesn’t know what to do, leading him to be awkward at best and seemingly uncaring at worst. He usually feels guilty afterwards, but often isn’t given the opportunity to voice such. When it comes to jokes, he has a hard time telling sarcasm from other tones of voice, which makes him take most sarcastic statements seriously, much to the annoyance of some around him.

He also has a tendency to zone out, at points. Getting lost in thought is common, especially if he’s tired, and while he doesn’t do it on purpose it can cause him to accidentally ignore entire sections of a conversation. It doesn’t help that he has a bit of trouble with auditory processing which, combined with him feeling too awkward to ask people to repeat things, makes him misunderstand some things. He also has a limited social battery with most people, and if he isn’t actively involved in an activity, he might take a moment to slip away and get some time to himself.

He’s a kind person, though, once someone gets to know him. He shows compassion in his own little ways, even if they aren’t obvious to other people. He doesn’t get close to people often, but when he does, he goes out of his way to help them with things. Tends to be extremely loyal. You know, the ride or die sort? That’s him. He also becomes more talkative and attentive when comfortable. All in all, though, he’s more relaxed around animals than he is around people. He’s particularly partial to insects and amphibians, though really will get teary-eyed over any small animal in his sights. He once cried over seeing a picture of a baby tarantula. That might’ve been more because of the amount of alcohol he consumed before seeing it than anything else, though.

In short: He’s awkward. He comes off more seriously than he generally means to. He would take a bullet for anyone who manages to become friends with him. Okay, maybe not a bullet, but a solid punch to the gut, probably. Talks to animals more energetically than people, but who can blame him?

Likes:
-Romantic comedies. The cheesier, the better. Who doesn’t love a good romcom? He particularly likes Sixteen Candles and The Princess Bride. He does not go out of his way to share this nugget of knowledge with anyone, though.

-Animals. Particularly toads, salamanders, and really any insects besides ticks and mosquitoes. His favorite, overall is probably moths, but he doesn’t like picking favorites out of those. If you really needle him, he’ll probably admit to having a fondness for silk moths.

-Hiking and getting juuuuust short of lost in the wilderness. He knows better than to go off trail alone, but if someone else is there, he’ll probably drag them along with him in order to have a good look around. At this point, he knows Arborly like the back of his hand.

-Music. Doesn’t really matter what type, so long as it isn’t metal or rap. He likes indie pop overall, though.

-Cooking. Not baking, just cooking. Baking, he’s found, has a lot more science to it, and if you don’t get the right balance of ingredients, it goes south. Cooking is easier to play around with, and if he adds more salt than he meant to, it isn’t the end of the world.

-Being out on the water. Motor boat, kayak, canoe, doesn’t matter, he’ll enjoy it. Nothing involving the ocean, though. Lakes are optimal, and rivers come in at second best.

-Insect pinning. Despite loving insects, he also is interested in collecting them. Most of the time, the ones he pins died naturally, and he just happened to find them around. If he happens to catch something and wants to pin it, he meticulously checks about its endangerment status first.

Dislikes:
-Most cities. He doesn’t like how cramped they make him feel; he prefers avoiding even traveling through them, when possible.

-People talking over him/not listening to him when he does speak. Pretty self- explanatory.

-The ocean. Too big. Too many waves. Too much unknown territory. Don’t even get him started on the bermuda triangle, and god forbid you try to get him to kayak out there!

-Parties. Get togethers are fine, but any more than 6 people is a little too much.

-Has an unadulterated hatred for electric cars. If prompted, he will go off about his reason behind said hatred.

Fears:
-The ocean. Not water, but the ocean in particular. Refuses to go on boats on the ocean, refuses to swim in the ocean.

-Terrified about the concept of being trapped somewhere. If he has a way out and he knows it, its fine. If he has rope, or a ladder, or really anything, he’s okay. But if he hasn’t planned to be in a space and has no way out of the space (that he knows of), he freaks out.

Skills:
-Animal Sciences
Particularly entomology and herpetology
-Slight medical expertise
Nothing extreme; knows basic first aid, but if you ask him to work on anything remotely life-threatening he probably won’t be able to do much
-Navigation
Knows his way around Arborly pretty well. When it comes to other parks, he will need a map, a trail, and a compass at the very least, but Arborly he has a chance to find his way to different places based on landmarks
-Decent artist
His drawings aren’t professional, but they’re okay and you can tell what they are
-Fauna identification
Proudly can identify a good portion of amphibians and insects in the area

Something They Have No Experience In:
-Anything mechanical.
Can’t do it. Machines? What are they?
-Anything to do with plant life.
Animals he can work with. Plants? God no
-And by extension, foraging is a no
Can’t tell a blueberry from something poisonous
-Driving
He can drive, technically. It doesn’t mean he’s any good at it, and he only drives (whether it is a car or motor boat) when he absolutely has to.

3 Personal Items They’ve Brought Along: Insect pinning supplies, a small-ish journal, and [ TBD]

Is This Their First Time as a Look Out for Arborly?: No, it’s not; he lives in the area around the park with his family, and has been there since he was younger. When he began his studies, he used his proximity to the park to get a few internships, spanning over the summers from when he 19 to when he was 22. Then, at 23, he took up summers as a lookout, making this his third year.

Why Did They Come to Arborly?: Mostly for work and experience. Partially because he considers it a fresh of breath air to stay out in a park for a bit.

[div class=block style="background-color: grey;"]history
Charlie was born in Olympia, Washington. She has an older sister of three years named Sammy, who is married and has a wolfdog named Shiloh. Charlie, a college dropout music major, wants more than anything to be a singer/songwriter. When she’s home, she works at her local radio station. Other than that, she spends a great deal of her time traveling with her sister and brother-in-law, blogging their low-budget ventures. Sammy is a professional photographer, and her husband is an environmental lawyer. They’re the ones who encouraged Charlie to take a job in Arborly over the summer following a bad breakup. This is her first year as a lookout.
[div class=block style="background-color: grey;"]fears
Charlie is deathly afraid of needles. She passed out when she got her septum piercing, but holds fast to her belief that it was totally worth it. Aside from that, her other fears include failure, commitment, and rejection.
[div class=block style="background-color: grey;"]skills[/div] Charlie has strong communication skills, she's very good at decision making and thinking on her feet, and she's very good at mediating when there is in argument. She is also a strong swimmer, having done it competitively through highschool.
[div class=block style="background-color: grey;"]antiskills[/div] That being said, Charlie is very stubborn and often refuses to see things the way others do. This makes her prone to acting in ways that are insensitive to others. She is not very good at cooking either.
[div class=block style="background-color: grey;"]3 personal things she brought along[/div] She brought her guitar, her sketchbook, and the heavy duty utility flashlight her sister bought her for christmas. [/div]

Name: Adam Belmont

Age: 37

Gender: Male

Sexuality: Straight

Tower They’re In: Falcon Rock Tower

Description: Adam is an ageing man with bits of white on his brown hair. His skin was well tanned, he's very tall, and he has broad shoulders and a muscular structure, although he has a growing stomach after quitting the police force, choosing to relax and start eating more fatty food. On the right side of his cheek was a scar he got from an encounter with a deranged person who murdered their wife.

Personality: Adam is the basic straight man. As an ex-cop of a harsh and crime-ridden city, he has a rigid outlook on the world and people in general, but always try to see to good in things even if it seems hopeless as his wife always told him. He hates those who break the law and those who have no respect for authority, which he dubs as "Young Punks" as the majority of them he encountered are either teenagers or young adults. Hunting is one of the few activities he enjoys as instead of using his skills to hunt criminals, he hunts peaceful animals like deers that won't pull a knife on him.

Is This Their First Time as a Look Out for Arborly?
This is Adam's first time as a lookout.

Why Did They Come to Arborly?
He wanted a job right after quitting the police force, choosing a job that he believed would lack stress and calm his nerves after years of police works.

Background:
Adam grew up in the city of Detroit and when he was young, he looked up to his dad who was a well-known cop in the city. However, when he grew up and joined the police force, he realised the job wasn't all glamour and being a hero, instead, it was all about keeping in check of sick people and only receiving thanks through being referred to as racist pigs and fascist maniacs.

One of the most traumatic experiences he had in the job was dealing with a cult group when he was only a rookie. The group kidnapped him, stripped him naked and tied him up, dropping him underwater and almost drowned to death until he was saved. Since then he had grown a paranoia around water.

Years of police work had made him grow a hatred for his job, his city and people in general, believing the world couldn't be redeemed and there's no good in it. That was until he met Alyssa, his best friend and his lover. She was the only who was able to bring joy in his life through unconditional kindness and passion, holding a strong belief that there's always good to be found, no matter how miserable it may seem. In a room engulfed in the dark, you could always find light somewhere, you just have to open your eyes and look for it.

His life only got better when he married Alyssa and gave him the best gifts a man could ask for, their two children Anna and Mike. Despite this, however, his outlook on the world was still clouded because of his job and the harassment he receives from these "Activists" slowly getting to his head, forcing him to quit his job for his mental health.

This led him into taking a job as a lookout at Arborly to hopefully take a break from all the hardships from his old job while still providing income for his family. He felt that this was the right job for him as his experience in hunting allows him to effectively traverse the forest and his experience as a cop will help him lookout for anything suspicious.
