“Channel 16 is a VHF radio frequency designated as an international distress frequency. Primarily intended for distress, urgency and safety priority calls...”

Welcome to the lore page for Channel 16, a roleplay where minimal human connection in the wilderness is found through radio frequencies and imaginations run wild. Below is information on the park as well as other important information, like NPCs and puzzles that have already been solved. More information will be added to lore over time; future additions will be urban legends in the area, as well as flora and fauna.

Locations

ARBORLY MAP COPY3.jpg
Fire Towers

Rosewood Peaks Tower - Rosewood Peaks Tower rests on the side of the Rosewood Peaks range, by Halfley River. A path leads directly up to it, unlike some of the other towers in the area.
Northhazy Lake Tower - Northhazy Lake Tower is on slightly elevated terrain, though not as high as Rosewood Peaks. It’s above the biggest lake in the area, Northhazy, which is one of the more popular areas that hikers like to set up camp. It’s about a 2 minute hike from the trail.
Meadow Tower - Meadow Tower is in an open area, and possibly one of the easiest towers to navigate in and out of. The land is flatter than some of the other park areas. It is about a 3 minute walk from the trail.
Falcon Rock Tower - Falcon Rock Tower is located by a rock formation named, unsurprisingly, Falcon Rock. It’s right by the trail, similar to Rosewood Peaks tower.

Wilderness and Landmarks

Rosewood Peaks - A bit of a climb, but the hike is worth it for experienced hikers. The height provides a beautiful view of the park as a whole, especially during a day with clear skies. At night, it’s the perfect location for astrophotography, due to the lack of light pollution. However, one should be ready to scramble up rocks and rungs; this is not a trail to take the family on.
Halfley River - Taking a walk by Halfley is a calming experience. For those willing to shimmy down to the riverbank, it’s the perfect place to fish. This is a good one for taking kids along, as there is even terrain.
Storm Gorge - Storm Gorge is the river that leads to Meliwick Lake. It’s one of the areas where visitors are allowed to put their feet in the water, but the park staff ask you not to stack rocks, for the safety of the salamander population in the area.
Meliwick Lake - Meliwick Lake is a lovely place to hike into and have a picnic. The lake functions as a breeding ground for fish and frogs, and if you look, you can see minnow traps in the area, set up by research teams to study the tadpoles. Fishing is not permitted at this lake.
Meadow - The Meadow is perfect for stargazing for families. On clear nights, take a few blankets out and take a look at the constellations. The terrain is easy, though be sure to check for ticks after leaving the area, and don’t touch the trap setups in the area, which are taking note of insect populations.
Lemliers Creek - Lemliers Creek is a creek right by the cabins, which makes it perfect for lazy days spent fishing by the water. Not much walking is needed at all.
Rayhead Chasm - Rayhead Chasm was carved out by a river that used to be in the area, but the water flow was stopped by beaver dams. The rock formations down the in-and-out trail are amazing, and one can see the different layers of sediment.
Emly Grove - The grove is a slightly more open area of the woods, off the trail a ways. This is often a place to see bears, for interested parties, or a good place to have a break from walking.
Woodree Summit - Another mountain area, Woodree Summit is another climb. It’s easier than Rosewood Peaks, but caution is advised due to rocky terrain. Children under age 10 are recommended to walk other trails.
Midnight Lake - Midnight Lake earns its name due to nighttime being the best time to hike there. Those who make the trip will be delighted to find that the area is set aglow by bioluminescent algae.
Blackrock Gulch - This gulch quickly segways into Bradver River, but it's a calmer area, good for crossing to the other side or taking a moment to adventure into the water. The park staff recommends keeping your shoes on, though, as to not scrape your feet on the rocks.
Bradver River - Bradver River is a great place to see juvenile fish, though fishing is prohibited in this area. Entering the water is also prohibited, due to the dangers of the fast moving water.
Northhazy Lake - Northhazy is the largest lake in the area. It’s good for picnics and watching the fish go by. It is also the favored pond of beavers in the area, and home to many a snapping turtle.
Everby Highlands - This area make for a moderate hike. Steps have been made to go up, but after it rains, they can get slippery. Make sure you have plenty of water and maybe a hiking stick so you can avoid falling.
