The Overlord
Turns out the black magic of the past, dusty tomes bound in tanned human skin, cursed relics, and dark, flowing robes just doesn't transfer well to the modern world. Thankfully, like so many basic needs of life, there's an App for that.

There are quite a number of apps and downloadable content across Android, Apple, and even some older, less smartphones, each one with its own signature magic coded right into the program. From Demon Summoning to Pyromancy to Personal Enhancement, "Spell Coding" has become the most viable use of time for many. Revolutionizing the programming industry and making coders some of the most powerful people on the planet. Now that deadly force could be conjured from a phone or tablet, the market for domestic arms has dried up, making all but a few black market dealers for the new potential in Spell Codes.

The gangs of the past decades have remodeled their operations as well, now hosting gladiator style matches between Coders. These matches are, of course, illegal, but law enforcement has been slow as ever to catch on to the latest technological wave. Crime is booming, cities are now dark cesspools of villainy, where citizens can only count on the protection of their Spell Codes from the ruffians, gangsters, and psychopaths roaming the streets.

The more Spell Codes come into the lives of everyday citizens, the more questions there are to be answered. Where did this resurgence of magic come from? What is the source of the magical power? These questions are being looked at by the Corporation Spelltec. They are also being the ones who have become the main distributors of spell codes to everyone from normal citizens, hospitals, and even the military (with a few not on the market). It has also been rumored that they have been arming gangs with spell codes as a way to test them out more. Though this has not been confirmed since no one has found any proof to these rumors.

Ambitious Coders have been using their magic to do whatever they want and to achieve their goals in life. The question is what are they willing to do to reach those goals........

In this world, magic is channeled through cellphones and tablets. This is done by writing the spell you wish to program into the code of your device through an enigmatic language which combines a variety of coding styles with ancient languages and dead tongues. These Spell Codes are relatively easy to produce at a certain level, and are ranked "C" as the lowest through "S" at the most powerful. C Rank spells are easy and require little energy taken from the user to cast, S Rank spells have been known to consume a person's life completely after just one use.

The city is set in the not too distant future of 2050, trends are relatively the same as they are now, dress is rather typical of a big city dweller in this era. There aren't that many robots, though mechanical prosthesis are used in medicine. The city is even more so a pit of crime, drugs, sex, and violence than it would be in our time, many survive by the skin of their teeth.

As far as boundaries on magic, I will not place any formal restrictions on what anyone can use other than a plea to be sensible and write with the intent of making a multifaceted character whose magic has strengths and weaknesses. If you are constructing a new spell that falls outside of the norm, please clear it with me before making it a plot point or using it in battle.

Fights between characters will be decided by Dice Roll, with the highest value winning, and said value deciding the number of posts each player will have to make the characters fight. By this rule, if Player A rolls a one, and Player B rolls a three, each player will post about the fight three times, with Player B's third post being the final blow of the fight. Please be respectful and concede defeat where the rules demand it.
