Peter was thrilled at the prospect. He was finally going to be able to make something out of himself. He had spent so long lost in limbo, certain he was doomed to a life of crime. But now, all because of Ella and her family, he could finally get a better life. He felt like a new man.
Peter chuckled at Ella's comment. He could bring her all sorts of gifts, if he was lucky enough to continue knowing her. "Yes, l could," he agreed, marveling at the prospect of buying her exotic jewelry, books to add to her collection, new foods to try. They could share in his little adventures together. She was the one who made all this possible.
He kissed her back, hardly able to believe this was his life right now. This house, a job to look forward to, a beautiful girl on his arm and on his lips. He smiled at her when she pulled away, but he was caught completely off guard by her question. Still, he wanted to answer her honestly. Last time he had turned her away and it ended up hurting them both.
"I don't know," he said. "It's just different. You might find this hard to believe, but I haven't really been with a lot of women." Prostitutes? Unfortunately yes. But that was different than this. "But I like it," he said. "I like you." He leaned in for another kiss, brushing his lips softly against hers. "I like kissing you, too."
Josephine turned away from the horse when she heard his voice, her spirits immediately lifting. She half stumbled towards him, naturally falling into his arms and melting at him referring to her as his love. He hadn't forgotten her or fallen out of love yet. It had only been two days, but she was drunk and it had been an emotional couple of days anyway. How could her father want to take this wonderful man away from him?
"Alec," she sighed, pulling herself away enough to tip her head up and press her mouth against his. She felt deprived of this, and suddenly she just wanted to have him hold her and kiss her and tell her he loved her. "I missed you..." She breathed, then let out a small giggle as she placed a kiss against his neck. She was just so happy to get to see him, she was distracting herself from his question and concern.
She leaned back on her heels so she could see him, his question regestering and frowned. "No," she said, her eyebrows drawing together. "I hate father... He won't.. he won't let me see you. And the house..." She hated thinking about dinner. She didn't even want to tell Alec. She drew herself closer and pulled on his hands, trying to pull him with her as she went to lean against the railing of the ladder to the loft. "But he can't control me... I want you. Come be... Come be with me, Alec," her pouting turned into a request, and she leaned in her head to kiss him again. On her way here she had decided that she would leave him only having given him all of her. Her heart, body, mind, and eternal soul. They could run and find a priest. They didn't need her father's approval.
