Bogged Down in Balaggan Port

Lady Warlock

Anime RN
Scarlet Johanna Indigrid
It had taken everyone a few days to adjust to the new ship and most of the crew members seemed to agree that it was lacking many personal touches that everyone had come to love on Charybdis. Scarlet had to admit that their new vessel was lovely in many ways, but all of her things had been lost and she missed all of what she had had. At least her red ribbon had been in her hair. Given what had happened, she vowed never to leave it behind. She wouldn’t even leave it on her own ship lest the ship become someone else’s somewhere along the way.

Scarlet was almost certain that she wasn’t the only one who had lost things on Charybdis either. She glanced back towards Jasper, the man at the helm, and then ahead, towards the island that would be their final destination before they reached the Grand Line. Jasper had been her longest crew member. Surely he had lost something precious to him and some of the other crew members had also brought along some of their own things. That was why they were stopping. Scarlet hoped that she and some of her crewmates could acquire new precious possessions… or at least, new possessions. It would take time for them to become precious and she knew that. Most of all, Scarlet needed clothes. All of her outfits were gone, she’d been wearing the same outfit for two days, and she felt absolutely disgusting.

And, according to Ed, they needed something called a Log Pose. Their new navigator had said it was the only way to navigate the Grand Line and many of their other crewmates seemed to know similar things. Scarlet still considered that to be secondary to getting clothes, though.

The ship itself seemed to have plenty of supplies. Wasabi had been able to provide delicious meals for everyone on the crew and Scarlet was really glad they had the cook along for the ride. A few weapons had been left behind by some of the scurrying marines and Scarlet had picked up one or two although she didn’t really know how to use them. She figured she could figure out some use for them eventually… or Jasper or Arlen could teach her. That was for later, though. Shopping first.

Throughout their journey, Cletus had seemed to be keeping himself busy. It was a new ship and he obviously had a few things to fix up since they’d been in a firefight with it. It was in better condition than Charybdis would’ve been, though. Scarlet had essentially given him permission to do whatever he felt needed to be done. They still needed a name for their new home on the water, though, and Scarlet was open to suggestions. Every evening at dinner, she would ask all of her crewmates to offer suggestions for names, and she was still not settled on anything.

She had a feeling, though, about the island they were sailing towards. It was called Balaggan Port and it was literally the last island before the Grand Line in the West Blue. After this, there would be no more stops until they were there. They had found the captain of the ship’s money supply so they had plenty of coin. Everyone was charged with making sure they were stocked enough to survive the journey and that was that. That was the task.

At a few suggestions, Scarlet had pulled down their flag before they got close enough to be noticed and then they would land as though they were merchants. They didn’t have the old merchant flag they’d stolen at Mirstone, but it wouldn’t matter. Balaggan Port wasn’t too picky about who landed.

“LAND HO!” Scarlet called out to her crew, giggling the whole while. It was a fun and piratey thing to say.

Jumping into action, she pulled out the ropes that would tie their ship to the dock as they came in slowly and then they lowered the gangplank to get started on their newest adventure. Everyone had been given an equal share of their finds on their new ship and everyone likely had things they needed. After all, no one had really been able to stock in The Hallows. Before she let anyone venture out, though, Scarlet called out to them, “Everyone needs to be back here before sunset! I’m not having us lose people here again because that was awful. Everyone here is a part of my family. Keep that in mind!”

Then, making her way over to Nerissa and Limstella, Scarlet asked them if they wanted to come shopping with her. Among all of her crewmates, they were the two who seemed as though they would enjoy that the most.

Jin Flyheart
Jin could not deny the fact that he was feeling a tad bit nervous, the sudden explosion of new crew members into the Horizon Stride Pirates had caught him completely off guard, albeit this was a much welcome surprise. Whatever their circumstances were, Jin was never the type to deny one from joining him in his adventures. Their backgrounds and the like were of little importance to him, for like his father had always said, you only truly get to know what a person is like by experiencing the world with one another. Jin could not be any happier than he was now, having his 'family' as he liked to call it grown to its current size. Things were only going to get livelier now. The newest additions to the Horizon Stride pirates were a group of Pirates, formerly belonging to the 'ShatterCrest Pirate's' led by the Captain Garret Z. Allistair, though for reasons not privy to Jin, the crew had decided to split up; those no longer travelling with Garret, now finding themselves members of Jin's 'Family'.

Even before words were exchanged, Jin was well aware of the underlying potential that each and every one of them had, not necessarily the potential to fight but rather the potential to experience truly miraculous and unique adventures with and while the future of the Horizon Stride Pirates looked Grandiose, Jin also sought to delve deeper into each of their past's, to hear and learn the stories of their prior adventures.

Jin's initial impression of Jayjay was admittedly of fear, after all the man was a zombie; the walking undead. It was only natural for someone to recoil purely on instinct, however Jin quickly got over such a trivial detail, the man's sheer awkwardness and outlandish behaviour was of far more importance to Jin then what the man looked like, the energy he carried and radiated as he spoke were gifts he eagerly welcomed into his ship. His expertise as a doctor were just an added bonus.

Alex on the other hand, had taken Jin by surprise. Jin had thought himself to be a pretty good drinker, however the first night he had spent with his new crewmates had quickly put him in his place. The amount of booze that Alex had managed to drink and the way she had handled herself in the aftermath of all that alcohol had truly surprised him and if anything, it helped Jin to feel more at ease with the newest members. Jin could surmise that Alex was someone confident in herself and her abilities, a no nonsense individual that could handle most situations that came her way. No doubt, Jin knew that he could trust her to get a job done.

Ichiro on the other hand, Jin could not get a good gauge on. The man had been respectful throughout all their conversations and was clearly someone with a vast amount of experience, however Jin could not help but feel that the man held secrets. Perhaps it's the glasses he wore or simply the way he carried himself, Jin could not help but feel a tad uneasy. Though that isn't to say that Jin was suspicious of the man, after all it had only been a few days since they had all met one another, it would take varying amount of time for everyone to feel comfortable with one another.

Yukihime, was probably the second member to catch Jin's eyes' purely on her appearance alone, only falling behind JayJay. Being a young man, Jin had to admit that he found her appearance to be rather attractive, the allure of an older women also didn't help in this regard. Well mannered and polite, Jin has only begun to scratch the surface of Yukihime and like Ichiro, he suspects that she too has a web of secrets hidden behind that smile of hers.

Logan, the avid musician that like the rest had agreed to venture the grand line with Jin, was another that Jin struggled to gain any information on. The man had been very sociable during the welcoming festivities that had taken place aboard the ship, however he had also been rather tight lipped about himself, often changing the subject whenever Jin tried to pry a little. Jin paid little attention to this however, assuming his reasons for doing as such to be similar to that of Ichiro's. Not many people liked to splurge about their life story to someone they just met. All that aside, Jin did have to hand it to him; the man was a talented musician and easily someone that could have made a living solely on his ability with the Violin. Learning about his decision to sail the seven Sea's and Join a pirate crew was definitely something Jin wanted to hear about from him.

Last of the additions to the Horizon Stride Pirates was Stacy, the Shattercrest Pirates former Shipwright; her talents in such department put on display almost immediately as she organized the repair of Garret's ship. For someone so young to be that talented as well as commanding was truly impressive. Jin had seen sturdier men of experience attempt to repair ships, yet none of their work seemed to match the intricate details and care that Stacy had shown whilst she got to work. Truly, she was in her element when it came to the craft. Her talents aside though, Jin did find her to be a 'bit sharp' around the edges. Regarding her position as the shipwright, Jin could not think of anyone better for that role.

Opening his eyes and returning to the present, Jin smiled softly, tightening his grip on the wheel of the ship and inhaling deeply. The feeling of satisfaction radiated through his body as he looked beyond the hull of his ship naturally embracing the gust of wind that swept through his golden hair, the morning's breeze bringing with it a breath of fresh air. Only those that allowed them self to embrace the freedom of the high sea's were granted such a refreshing reward; the tinge of saltiness from the sea sending a tingle down his spine. The morning wonders aside, the destination that Jin presently sailed towards was the Island of Balaggan,

Balaggan; an island known for its booming trade industry. A place where the Merchants themselves were often far more fearsome and conniving then any known Pirate in the surrounding seas. It was a place frequented by many, a place where even the rarest of items could often be found on the black market. If there was something you needed, then the Island of Baraggan was a good place to start. Pub's along every street, Taverns ready and willing to turn a blind eye for a few extra pieces of gold, Brothels that welcomed any and all that dared enter. Whatever it was you were searching for, there was a good chance that someone on Balaggan would have it.

"Everyone!" he shouted, hoping that his crew mates were all awake. "Balaggan Port!, Dead Ahead and Ready to accept the Horizon Stride Pirates!"

It was a good twenty minutes or so before the Dawn Chaser found its way into one of the vacant docks at the harbor, by now the Jolly Roger of the Horizon Strides firmly hidden away from sight. Whilst the locals seemingly had no problems with pirates; provided they behaved, there was always the risk of certain greedy individuals that lurked in the shadows seeking to make a quick fortune by snitching on them to the marines.

“Alright everyone” spoke Jin, stepping down onto the main deck of their ship, his hands against his sides as he addressed those that had gathered here as well. “I don’t know how many of you have been here before, but Balaggan Island is famous for its market. You name it and it's almost guaranteed that someone here has it… or so I’ve heard..”he offered a smile, placing one hand behind his head as he did so .“There are a few items that I’d like to gather before we enter the Grand Line… things I couldn’t find back on Neogenesis.. “ he paused, turning to look over at a minor commotion that had caught his attention. From what he could see, it looked to be a group of 6 individuals squabbling among one another, three Bartenders forming a wall between a young waitress and two men; still drunk from last night’s escapades.

Jin sighed... “Guys.. let’s try not to attract any unwanted attention towards ourselves while we are here”.

Walking along the wooden dock, Jin kept his eyes fixed upon the commotion that was taking place outside the nearby pub; the name of which he could just about make out to be “The Scribbler’s Sea Stallion’, a rather fanciful name if he had to say so himself. By now, the young waitress had been brought inside the premise, clearly shaken by the whole ordeal of having two drunken men approach her. Jin could not even begin to imagine how that must have felt, however with the young lady being escorted away, the two men seemingly had little if any interest to stay any longer.

Another sigh escaped Jin’s mouth, as he pocketed both his hands into his trouser pockets. He had a clear goal of what he needed to retrieve and wanted to spend as little time as possible venturing through the market bazaar. The last time he was here, he had almost spent a small fortune on an assortment of goods that he soon found out to be utterly worthless. The merchants themselves had made it sound like he was buying a bargain, when in fact it was the clear opposite. He shuddered slightly as he thought back on it. For the few days after the whole ordeal, Jin had felt like a fool… after all the amount of detail that the merchant had put into the sale should have been enough to warn him that it would be to good to be true. Lesson learnt, Jin simply wanted this to be a quick grab and go, the less time spent in the market bazaar the better.

Cait Merlin
Being promoted to captain was a surreal experience for Cait. It seemed like a dream. Day after day, her new status as captain slowly cemented itself as she woke up in the captain's quarters every morning. The triangular captain's hat provided by Risa, the Red Wave's resident hat maker, also helped; though Cait found her usual attire of plaid bikini top, aquatic shorts, and sandals to be lacking in the pirate captain-y department. Other than adding clothes to her shopping list, there was nothing she could do about that now.

In addition to her outfit, there were two other things she wanted to change: the name of the crew and a pirate flag to go along with it. She had wrestled long and hard with the idea on keeping the Red Wave name. One argument for keeping it was to honor Sora, but as she thought about it, she figured making the crew her own would be something he would have wanted her to do as the new captain. Despite these plans for change, Cait didn't change much as a person. Her sisterly personality shined through as she gently guided the crew. Although she didn't really find herself in any situations that required her to bark orders while they were sailing to their next destination.

Still a musician at heart, Cait played her guitar after supper and sang for any crew member willing to listen. She also played in the mornings, usually for herself. It was during one such morning that Cait spotted an island in the distance. Balaggan Port, the last stop in the West Blue before entering the Grand Line. From her fisherman days, Cait knew that this island was home to many merchants. It would be a good idea to stop and restock on supplies. She could even get a more captan-y attire and a pirate flag.

"Get ready to dock, everyone!" she called out as she put her guitar back in it's case and slung the strap around her shoulder. She grabbed the railing of the Lucky Nova with one hand and pointed to the island with the other one. "Next stop, Balaggan Port!"

Shortly after the Lucky Nova docked, Cait gathered the crew together onto the deck. "This is our last stop before the Grand Line. Elijah, Marcus, and Norman, now's the last chance to restock before we enter new waters," she explained. "Feel free to do your own shopping, everyone. I have a list of my own I'm going to be focusing on. If you want to relax, that's fine too, just try not to cause any trouble and be back here by nightfall; unless you don't want to enter the Grand Line as a Tiger Shark Pirate," she added, though she figured only Syrin would take her up on the offer to leave her crew. "That's all I wanted to say. I'll catch you guys later."

Cait whistled as she walked down the gangplank and onto the solid ground that made up Balaggan Port. With shopping list in hand, she began heading off toward a cluster of shops. Written down on her shopping list were clothes, a pirate flag, and a Log Pose: an important item for sailing the Grand Line according to her mother. Cait was just a child when her mother told her that, but she knew her mother wouldn't have lied to her. In the hustle and bustle of shops, a Log Pose might be harder to come across though. "Might as well start shopping by visiting the tailor," Cait thought to herself. She already had some idea about what she wanted her captain-y attire to look like.

Balaggan Port

Balaggan Port was not necessarily a pirate island, but it was certainly rough enough to welcome those kinds of people and that was mostly because of how the merchants who lived there had learned how to sell. They weren’t exactly known to be the most honest of people because dishonesty was what sold their goods the most. . Their goods didn’t tend to be the best, either, though. Well, there are exceptions to the rule, but in general, they weren’t.

Yet, it was the last place to stop. It was the last reprieve before anyone entered the graveyard that was the Grand Line. That meant that almost everyone stopped there.

The sun rose over the horizon to the island creating quite a quaint little scene. Yet even as ships pulled in, they could hear the ruckus of the market, of people screaming out for someone to come buy their wares and of people wandering around still intoxicated from the antics of the night. There was even one particular bar close to the dock where a man was shouting, “Ye been ‘ere all night! Get yur asses ‘ome now!” Anyone who wandered over there would see that his words weren’t really working, though.

The actual market was further in and almost anything anyone could want to buy was there, though. A woman ran through the streets, ecstatic at her most recent purchase of a scarf from Blue Rose Fashion. She was waving it around everywhere and showing it off quite happily.

Beyond that, there were two potentially familiar faces wandering around… a man carrying a massive hammer over his shoulder and a woman with long silver hair who dissolved into smoke after snatching an apple. Then, of course, there was the outcry of “Thief! Thief!” No one else on the island really seemed to care. As far as the market went, it was every salesperson for themselves.

All in all, Balaggan Port was an easy place to get into trouble, and plenty of interesting persons to encounter were there.

Kane sat against the starboard side of the ship, his back pressed against the wooden frame of the boat's exterior, his head slumped over in front of him as he slept through the night. Over the last few days, Kane had been captured by the Marines and sentenced to jail for a crime he did not commit. He had taken the well known Captain Pyrrha as his hostage and used her as a bartering chip for his escape which had then lead to him to helping a group of pirates flee as well; commandeering the Navy Vessel in the process and eventually resulting in Kane joining the Red Ribbon Pirates under the Captaincy of Scarlet Johanna Indigrid.

Needless to say, the last few days had been rather eventful for the large man; so much so that he was now recovering from the mental fatigue he had accumulated throughout the ordeals. Never in a million years did he see himself ever becoming a pirate, much less sought after by the Marines. His life had been fine the way it was, the Champion of Crixia and living a life that was well within the law.. yet now, he was a fugitive, a pirate. Though despite all that had happened, he had found it rather amusing to now find himself walking freely on top of a Marine Ship; the irony of it all.

As the morning sun rose, Kane's body shivered ever so slightly against the still cool air; his trusted blade 'The Whistler' coated in a small blanket of condensation. Whilst the majority of the crew members had sought slumber within the confines of the ship, Kane had found it far more comforting to rest above deck. His large stature as well as having spent a few nights in the cramped jail cell had left him wanting for a place he could spread his legs, the large open area above deck providing such.

"LAND HO!" shouted Scarlet, her giggling also helping Kane to wake from his slumber. The large man's eyes opening slowly to reveal his dark red Irises. Blinking slightly as his eyes adjusted to the light, Kane picked himself up; the Whistler now acting as a makeshift walking stick, as Kane used it to steady himself. Like the others on board the ship, Kane made his way towards Scarlet though he remained somewhat distant, staying further behind the rest of the crew.

“Everyone needs to be back here before sunset! I’m not having us lose people here again because that was awful. Everyone here is a part of my family. Keep that in mind!” she instructed as she handed out several bags to each of the crew members; himself included.

Kane smiled slightly, the thought of Family bringing up memories of what he had left behind. If only they knew the path Kane was now traversing... what light would they view him in now? The sound of gold pieces jingling as the others checked the contents of their share had again russled Kane from his thoughts, the man mimicking their actions as he too checked the pouch he was given. Again, a smile spread across his face though now for a far more different reason. What Kane found inside was more then enough for the large man to drown his idle thoughts away.

"Aye, Aye Captain" replied Kane, pocketing his share and fixing the Whistler upon his back. With everything that had happened over the last few days as well as the thoughts that presently haunted him, Kane presently wanted nothing more then a nice cold Brew, the acrid taste of Rum that sizzled his body as he downed pints one after another was his present desire.

The shipwright wasn’t quite sure how she felt about landing on such a busy island with so many people running around and so many thieves who could be slipping through the cracks. She knew that there were some supplies that they needed to get yet, and she knew that this new captain was not the same as Garret had been, but so many things had led to chaos in her time with their particular group that she couldn’t stop thinking of things that could go wrong here.

However, she could see the positives as well. Landing would give everyone a chance to take some time for themselves because they had no idea how long it would be before they landed again. Stacy wasn’t planning on using their stop for much of a break, but other people certainly could and she would encourage that. Her plan was to simply peruse the port and see if she could find any extra quick work. Maybe later in the afternoon, she would go grab a drink or two, but that would be later and this was now.

Watching as their captain walked off the ship, though, Stacy had a sudden instinct to scurry after him, if only to say a few words. “Captain!” she called out. “I think I myself will be sticking to the port somewhere… close to the ship just to keep an eye on things. Is there anything on board our ship that I might want to look into while we’re stopped?” While she was fairly certain she’d done her best to familiarize herself with the ship, Stacy wanted to make sure she didn’t miss anything.

Additionally, though, Stacy had decided that it might be a good idea to try to get off on the right foot with their new captain, particularly since she hadn’t felt she was on best terms with the last two.

Rhyse “Risa” Talone
It was their first stop since she’d joined the crew and Risa found herself feeling rather disappointed in how things had gone so far. She had hoped that by the time they reached their first island, she would have hatted quite a few members of the crew already and so far, she really hadn’t. She wasn’t sure if they were all too eager to get to the grand line and that was what stopped them or if they just weren’t interested in hats at all. However, Risa was bound and determined to find out because if no one wanted a hat, then she had no reason to be on the ship.

Well… actually, she did have reason to be on the ship regardless of that, but Risa knew she would be much happier on a ship with people who liked hats. No matter what, though, ships could get her to places where she could sell hats.

“I’ve heard wonderful things about the market here,” she managed to proclaim quite loudly. “I should be able to get quite a few unique supplies for my hats here.” Clearly, she was rather excited about that.

However, there was more. Risa’s mouth opened wide, and in a mere moment, she was shouting out to the whole crew. “Is there anyone interested in receiving a hat? I could get special supplies here just for you guys and it would be awesome if we could have a whole crew wearing stylish hats!” Looking towards Cait before the captain marched off, Risa added, “Cait, don’t you agree having hats for everyone would do wonders in unifying us under one flag?” She hoped that the idea would sound appealing and that it might convince their captain to encourage everyone to have a hat.

Risa wanted everyone to have a hat.

Then she looked towards Norman, Marcus and Elijah - the ones who Cait seemed to think were most likely to need to go to the market for supplies. “Would you three mind if I joined you on the way to the market? Supplies are important for me as well.” She didn’t want her craft to be seen as any less essential to the crew. For her, hats were life, after all.

Jin stopped, half turning in the process as he heard Stacy calling out to him. It came as a somewhat unexpected surprise that she would be the one to approach him, considering that for the most part she had spent her time walking around the ship. From what Jin could garner, she had been inspecting the Dawn Chaser as she walked about; the sight of her doing so never failing to lure a smile out of him. "Well, I can't say I am the most knowledgeable about Ships" he replied, placing his right hand behind his head as he gave her a half smile. There was still that air of awkwardness and nervousness whenever he tried to act all 'official' in front of those that sailed alongside him, as such it took him a while to really gather his thoughts and formulate a response for her.

"The Dawn Chaser, is my.." he paused, considering his words as he looked past Stacy towards the ship they had just disembarked ".. The Dawn Chaser is our means of life upon the Sea's and as such, I want her to be in pristine condition and working order as we sail the sea's.. She is every part a member of my crew.. my family.. as I hope you and everyone else will be." He returned his attention back towards the young Shipwright, examining her face for any noticeable change in expression as he spoke. "I have been feeling a bit of stiffness in the wheel, especially when I attempt to turn the ship to its starboard side. If we ever need to make a quick change in direction, it could pose a problem. Naturally I would prefer the stiffness to be gone, however it is not a pressing concern at the moment".

He placed his hand back down by his side, his face taking on a more serious expression of sorts as he took the short few steps needed to close the distance between himself and Stacy, making sure not to sever the eye contact he presently held towards her.
"I've noticed your craftsmanship and expertise during the days spent at NeoGenesis, truly your skills took my by complete surprise.. and I mean no offense when I say this, but at first glance I would have not taken you for someone so well suited to the role...I have seen bigger men struggle to accomplish the meticulous work I saw you put into repairing Captain Garret's ship" he paused, again thinking his next words before speaking. Jin had no intention of accidentally causing offence towards her throughout their exchange, simply he was stating the facts from his own experiences.

Taking a deep breath and gulping slightly, he took a step backwards, growing the distance between the both of them.
"Stacy,I haven't formerly asked you yet, but would you be willing to become the Official Shipwright of my Crew?" in the process of asking the question, he had extended his hand out towards her for a hand shake, hoping that she would accept and reciprocate the gesture; his head tilted slightly as he gave her a genuine smile. "It would truly do wonders for me to have someone of your talent being able to oversee the Dawn Chaser" he added, his hand still held out before her.

Alex Q. Draw
Alex leaned over the railings of the Dawn Chaser and she rested her elbows on them. Jet was perched beside her and she was using one of her hands to ruffle his fathers. Her other hand was pressed against her forehead, putting pressure against an annoying headache. Alex had won the drinking contest with her new Captain, but was now forced to deal with the mother of all hangovers.

After docking in Balaggan Port, she tried to focus on Jin as he talked, but found the commotion at the nearby pub to be too distracting. The frown on her face turned into a scowl as she watched two drunk men trying to get past a few bartenders to get to the waitress. "No promises, Captain," she said as she straightened herself. She whistled to Jet as she waltzed past Stacy and Jin; the bird obediently landed on her shoulder.

Alex confidently walked up to the drunks. She grabbed both of them and slammed them together, causing the drunks to stumble onto the floor. "That's enough you two. Get out of here." The drunks slowly stood up and began to rub their foreheads. "But we....ain't had....our fun yet," one of the drunks said. Alex gave the man an angry glare as she charged him and pinned him to the wall. "Screw your fun. It's time for you two to leave." "Alright, alright. We're leaving." Alex released her grip, allowing the drunk to run off with his friend.

"Pathetic...," Alex muttered under her breath. She gave the waitress a comforting nod, but didn't wait for any "thanks" as she walked inside the pub. It was strangely still pretty full. Based on what the bartender was yelling, it was time for them to leave, but the man's word's weren't working. "I'll deal with your lazy asses if you're not out of here in five minutes," she threatened, still a little pissed after witnessing the earlier attempt at womanizing and annoyed at her hangover. She walked up to the bar and began to address the bartender. "I'd like you're strongest hangover remedy."

Cletus T. Bass
Over the last couple of days, Cletus spent his time familiarizing himself with the Marine ship the Red Ribbons had commandeered. After looking over all the nooks and crannies, he found the ship to be in good condition. That probably couldn't be said for the Charybdis right now. The old shipwright hated the fact that they had to abandon their pirate ship, to him ships were just as valuable as treasure, if not more so. In order to life another day, the Red Ribbons had been forced to pull a daring move. It all had worked out. In the end, lives were more important.

With nothing to repair and no supplied to upgrade, Cletus spent his time smoking on deck, keeping an eye out for trouble, or talking to Pyrrha about the marine ship during the time she was kept captive. Before they had escaped the Hollows, Cletus had noticed Pyrrha's sword below deck. The Marine Captain protested for her sword to be tossed onto Axel's ship as a sign of good faith. Not wanting to be a thief, especially after learning that the sword was a family heirloom, Cletus had done what she had asked. Though even without her sword, Cletus still paranoidly watched her during her meal time.

Now with the Pyrrha business behind them, Cletus waited for their new ship to dock. Balaggan Port would be his best opportunity to buy wood and metal that he could use to repair the ship when the time arrived. He would like to make another metal shell on the inner layer of the ship. It had worked out pretty well in the Hollows.

"Aye, aye, Captain,"
Cletus replied to Scarlet's order to be back by sunset. He didn't think shopping would take him that long, then again...if something happened...maybe it could. Shaking off paranoid thoughts, for now, Cletus walked off the Marine ship and began to look for a shipwright kind of store, leaving a faint smoke trail behind him as he smoked.

Cait Merlin
Before completely walking down the gangplank, Cait heard Risa call out to her. The fishwoman stopped and turned toward her crew. "Hats for everyone sounds like a wonderful idea," she replied with a shark toothed grin as she playfully adjusted her hat a little. Her hat had helped her feel more like a captain. Now it was time to complete her captain wardrobe.

After walking through Ballagan Port for a while, Cait spotted a clothing store called Adventurous Outfitters. Cait entered the shop and was greeted by an older woman behind a cash register. "Welcome to Adventurous Outfitters. The changing rooms are in the back. Let me know if you need help with anything." Cait smiled at the welcome. She hadn't expecting a warm welcome, being half fishman and all. It looked like everyone's coin was welcome here.

Cait began to look around at all the clothes on display. Adventurous looking pants, shorts, vests, boots, shoe-like sandals, even an assortment of swimsuits. A style of a green one piece quickly caught her eye. She regonized the plaid pattern on a separate piece of swimsuit material that was sown onto the upper midriff. Upon closer inspection she discovered that her hunch was right, the swimsuit was a Fischer Island brand.

Cait grabbed the swimsuit, a pair of shorts, a pair of sandals, one of the vests, and carried them into a changing room. After changing, she admired the new look in the room's mirror. While looking at herself, she was already beginning to feel more like a captain. After changing back into her old clothes, she grabbed a couple extra clothes from the style she had already chosen and walked up to the register. She bought the clothes and returned to the changing room. Took the tags off of one set of her outfits and put it back on. She put her old clothes in the bag with the extra new ones and walked out of the shop feeling like a new woman.

Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivruski IV
Who's a Navigator?
Unlike most of Scarlet's crew, Ed had no trouble adjusting to the new ship. She had spent half her life ship hopping and was a person of few possessions. Of course, the fact that she had never actually set foot on the Charybdis helped. Thus, while most of the crew was trying to get situated, she spent her free time exploring the ship. Every nook and cranny. That way she knew all the good hiding spots, secret peepholes, and any other pertinent information she might need to know about the ship. After all, she was the navigator. She was responsible for the safety of the ship and her crew. It was only fair that she knew all there was to know about the ship.

Although the transition was easy, that didn't mean her job was. Ed had to work hard, especially the first couple of days, to prove to everyone that she was a competent navigator. It wasn't until she successfully navigated through a narrow strait without incident, cutting three days off their trip, that people started to relax with her at the helm. Aside from that, though, Ed was quite happy. People weren't going around telling her what to do, she was able to utilize her skills and be useful and thus, appreciated, and of course, she there was the free food.

When land had come into sight, Ed was on one of her breaks; snoozing in some remote corner of the ship. When Scarlet made the 'Land Ho' call, Ed shot up urgently -- bonking her head on a beam. "Ow! Stupid ship," she mumbled as she scuffed up to the deck. Ein the Mongoose, who had been off on his own little adventure, scurried around a corner and climbed up onto Ed. As she emerged from below, Ed was rubbing her forehead. She paused for a moment to get used to the light before moving toward the helm.

Navigating into a port -- especially a busy one like they were approaching -- was delicate business. As such, she felt it was her duty to be at the helm. When she found a decent opening in the port, she acted quickly; slipping into the space ahead of another ship that had been heading for it. As the ship sailed past to continue its search for a decent spot to dock, Ed leaned over the railing and stuck out her tongue at them. Once she had them safely to port, her job was done for the day.

With a satisfied sigh, she stretched and walked up to Scarlet and her buddy Nerissa on the main deck with a smile and said, "Ed come too. Er..." she looked suspiciously at them for a moment as if counting something, then added, "Ed come four!" Then Ein trilled as if to say 'me too'. Then Ed spoke out of the corner of her mouth, whispering to Ein, "No Ein, you're five."

Watanabe Hotaka Wasabi
Catering to the Crew
During the Red Ribbon Pirate's first voyage on the new ship, Wasabi spent his time trying to cook up fancy meals from the limited rations that were available on the ship. Thankfully there was enough ingredients for him to make it look like they had a good stock of food. After all, the crew was already preoccupied over losing their ship, they didn't need to worry about food as well. Being the cook, that was his job. Of course, there were a few incidents here and there when someone didn't follow his rules when it came to the food, but over time, the crew would get used to it. The rules were for their own good, anyway.

When the ship had finally made it to the port they had been heading for, Wasabi immediately found the captain -- standing next to a few other crewmates -- and said, "Excuse me, captain? While we're here I'd like to stock up on food and cooking supplies so that we're ready for the Grand Line. So if you see a long train of barrels and crates being carried onto the ship, that's why."

Tori, the bird perched on Wasabi's hat at the moment, let out a loud BAAAAWK!! as it eyed Ein on Ed's shoulder. In response, Ein's eye's flashed red as he rattled and scurried for cover in Ed's shirt.

Marcus Gaverenton
AND
Elijah Baden

As the newly named Tiger Shark pirates docked at Ballggan Port, Marcus took one last drag of his cigarette before throwing it over the side into the water below. Standing up, he quickly fixed his shirt, pulling his tie up tighter around his neck. He was wearing his normal white button-up shirt and black trousers, but had switched out his normal dress shoes for black boots that he covered with his pant legs down to his ankles. He also was wearing his lab coat and his normal pair of blue glasses.

Marcus was glad that they had finally landed. In such a place with a huge market, it would be way easier to find supplies for medicines, which he was severely lacking in. He of course had poisons and other experiments, but without medicine, he couldn't call himself a reliable doctor. If he couldn't take care of his crewmates without the proper supplies, which meant that he would have to deplete almost all of his remaining spending money that he had at the moment.

Looking into the mysterious interior of his coat, which no other person on the ship had ever had the chance to look into yet, he examined what he had, reasoning that he would probably have to go for trading some of his own supplies for cash to buy what he needed. Reaching a hand in, he pulled out a vial of a bright green liquid, wondering if it would be wise to try and sell a vial of sleeping toxin to random vendors on the street.

As he put the vial back, deciding he would have to think more about it if the situation arose, he overheard their newest addition, Risa, talking to their new captian about hats for everyone. At that, Marcus scowled. He didn't enjoy wearing hats that much, and he had been trying to avoid the topic of hatmaking around the woman, leaving her as soon as it would come up. As Cait walked off the ship, the woman came up to him, asking him and his two other crewmates if she could join them. And as much as he wanted to say that he didn't necessarily want to go with her, he didn't want her running into trouble, either. Thus...

"If you want, I can go with you to look for supplies. But I'll also need to look for supplies myself, so I can't spend all my time looking at hat materials." Turning to Elijah and Norman, Marcus raised on eyebrow. "What about the two of you?"

Elijah's mouth gaped wide in a yawn. Elijah, once again, had stayed awake most of the night thinking of new plans to improve the Lucky Nova. He had been drawing blueprints and designs for the last few days of their voyage, so the large storeroom that had all of his supplies, work tools, and schematics was quite the mess, to the annoyance of most crew members when they tried to find him under piles of unfinished drawings.

Today, though, Elijah was rather excited. One plan he had really stuck out in his mind, and in a market, he was sure he could find all the materials he needed. He had also worked on a few gadgets he could sell and make a profit on, so he was interested in trying his luck. In order to get ready for a day in the market, he was wearing his Sunday finest: black tank-top, black cargo shorts, and brown sandals.

He waved his hand at Marcus, looking off to the market with a grin on his face. "
Nah, nah. You all can go have fun on your own. I have some little secret projects I need supplies for. I also need more cigars and whiskey, and maybe a good fight or two."

Marcus frowned. "
Are you seriously going to look for trouble? We'll get kicked out before we can get all our supplies." Walking over, Marcus grabbed the man's collar, and a vein seemed to pop on his forehead. "And I really don't want to waste any more of supplies on needless things if I can help it."

Elijah looked at the doctor in surprise, and brushed his hands off with a bored expression on his face. "
Yeah, sure, Doc. Don't worry, I'm not that much of a jerk. I won't get into any fights until right before we leave. Hopefully. By the way..." Leaning in, Elijah whispered into Marcus's ear. "That thing you need...are you positive? You could make a lot of money if you just-"

Before Elijah could finish, Marcus pushed the man away. "
Yes, I'm positive. I won't feel easy until you take care of it. As much as I hate to admit it, something like that I can only trust you with, because of your experience. Just try to get it all done before we leave."

Elijah nodded, grabbing his bag of goodies and throwing it over his shoulder. "You got it. That will be my first stop. Hopefully it won't take me that long to find someone to handle the request. I already have the money for the service fee." Waving his hand as he walked off the ship, he shouted over his shoulder before he hit the dock. "I'll try to get it to you before we leave. But no promises."

Marcus rolled his eyes, before turning back to Risa and Norman. He opened his arms to the two of them, looking between them. "
Well, Norman? Will you be joining me? And you as well, Risa?"

Darius Fletcher
Darius_Fletcher.jpg
A pleasant breeze pressed at the sails of the Wolfwind Pirate's ship. A pleasantly soothing oaken ship, with silver trim and golden sails. The crew's flag waved proudly from the mainmast, a grey wolf howling with a bass and treble clef set behind him in a deep obsidian. As the ship pulled into port and its crew set to tying it to the dock, those who might be looking on would see the twirling silver etchings of the ship's name, Moonhaven!

After they were all moored and the gangplank was lowered, the captain of the crew descended first. He fingered a tie fasted around his neck with abject curiosity, looking on the town with a wolfish grin. "Alright guys, we'll be staying the day and night docked here. We set sail for the Grand Line tomorrow! Get your drinking and partying of the land variety out while you can, and stock up on any supplies you individually need. Have fun!"

The small crew of seven, excepting the captain, departed in various directions to start their shopping and partying spree. His first mate was still below deck with their tenth crew member, but he figured he'd leave them be for now. Someone else would relieve his first mate later in the day. Darius meanwhile cracked his fingers as he set off on his own little adventure. Though his attention would be drawn in short order.

As he was passing a tavern who's name he didn't bother reading, he noticed a skirmish between a rather tall, well toned woman and a couple of men harassing a waitress. Darius watched in silent amusement as she literally knocked the sense into them, and followed it up by telling the people inside it was time to get out. His grin only seemed to grow as he pushed past those leaving to get inside.

He approached the bar as the woman asked for a hangover remedy. He gave her the once over, appreciating her muscle tone for a variety of his own reasons. Though what caught his eye particularly was the ammo belt with a wolf's head buckle. Darius into his jacket and tossed a couple coins the bartender's way. "I'll be covering that remedy, and whatever you'd best give to someone to jump start their day for me. Nothing is too strong!"

He put an elbow on the bar and looked more directly at the woman, who now that he was closer he realized was rather tall. Still a head shorter than he, but rare was the woman that edged towards his height. "Hey there, beautiful. I saw the way you tossed those idiots out and dealt with the two outside. You're fierce and I like your style! You wouldn't happen to have a crew already would you?" He extended a hand and bowed his head slightly, a thin, toothy grin on his face. "Darius Fletcher, Captain of the Wolfwind Pirates. At your service!"

Jasper Pharos
images

Jasper hummed lightly to himself as he steered the ship on their approach to Balaggan Port. The humming and taking of his normal stance at the helm was a front however. Each time he thought back to the Hallows he was suffused with feelings of anger and guilt. Surely there were others to blame about the situation beyond himself. The marines for example, who continue to make his pursuit of Mistress Burgess's killers difficult. Not to mention their apparent antagonism towards him for deserting. Yet despite this he kept coming back to his own failures in the matter.

His failure to stick with Lady Scarlet. Leaving his swords behind on the ship shortly before the marine invasion. The crew members left behind who presumably were now marine captives. The ship being captured none too long after he had snuck aboard and reclaimed his swords. Never mind that he lost his teapot, he had his only few prided possessions on his person. The bit that hurt him the most was the expression on Lady Scarlet's face as they left the Charybdis behind.

He will not fail her so profusely again. His own blood will be spilt in buckets before it even has the opportunity to happen again! His hands gripped the wheel harder as he struggled to rein in his emotions. It took him several seconds to realize he had successfully pulled them into port. He blinked a few times to bring his mind into full focus before scanning the deck for Lady Scarlet. He spotted her by Limstella and Nerissa and paced briskly over to her. He overheard mention of shopping and thought to offer his assistance. "Lady Scarlet, I can go with you per usual if you like! Unless you have other need of me, of course. Do you?"

Norman "Sipping the Bubbly" Newman
21437wall.png
Norman kicked his legs as he sat on the edge of the ship. So much had happened in so little time! To think he was bored for so long until Mirstone. Then he got to meet a bunch of captains, and be on Kenji's crew for a little bit. Then there was Sora, who seemed nice but stayed behind to take care of his lil pet friend. It was too bad, Norman thought Sora was fun to play with, and he bet Hawky would have loved to play with his ferret thing. But at least, despite all of that, Cait was captain now. Norman thought she was REALLY cool! So he had no doubts she'd be best captain.

Norman leaned back and looked up at the mast, eyeing Hawky resting peacefully in the best rays of sunlight. Luckyyyyy. Norman swung his feet as he dug around in his clothes for something. He didn't at first wholly register Risa's question, so he didn't comment on her joining him for whatever it was he was supposed to be doing. Instead he fished out a vial of purple bubbly liquid. He swiped it from Marcus when he wasn't paying attention. The guy really loved making little vials of juice, but he never shared any!

So Norman had taken it upon himself to test a few of them in secret and note his reactions. That way he can tell Marcus about them, and help him perfect his juices so he doesn't have to be self conscious! Marcus addressed him, and he almost got sooooo spooked he would've dropped the vial into the ocean. He slowly took a few sips under his facial scarf before turning around to answer. The fizzy purple drink tickled his throat as it went down, sort of reminding him of pineapple and grapes mixed together. "I think I'm ALWAYS ready for company! Also I'm finally ready to give you feedback on your juices, Marcus!"

He pulled two more vials from his coat and clinked them in his direction. He put up a orange liquid with red flakes in it first. "This one was a bit too spicy for my tastes in juice, but I think some people might like it. It could probably help someone with a cold I bet!" He swapped vials and held up a blue one with golden orbs in it. "This one was really reminds me of a blueberry pie I had once. Sour at first but it gets sweeter after an extra swallow or two." Finally he swapped to the one he just drank from. "This one I just had, and I think it's my favorite. Tickled the throat and tastes like pineapple and grapes!" He beamed widely at Marcus, the shape behind his scarf making this obvious.

Gerome Jackson
Gerome_Jackson.jpg
Dozens of leather clad young men, with dark skin and wild hair styles, were running about the market place like a chicken with its head cut off. They purchased rugs, clothes, buckets, chairs, fake moustaches, and tons and TONS of leather and zippers. After each purchase they would dash to the docks and deposit their spoils below the deck of a ship so bizarre, most passerby stopped to stare for a solid minute. The ship itself was painted all black, unheard of due to sailors trying to see at night. The sails, trim, and fixings were all a dozen different shades of red. The flag simply said COOL in all capital letters, with what looked like a dozen attempted drawings behind it. From fire, to lightning, to a dragon made of ice cream.

The ships name nearly wrapped from the prow of the ship to the stern. In blazing letters of alternating gold and scarlet it read: "The Super Flaming Mega Awesome Undefeated Dragon Lightning Cool Ship!!!" No one knew how to process this sight, especially with the crew members flocking in and out of the ship in their weird leather get up. One civilian woman approached a leather clad individual with white hair and orange shades. The young man in question seemed to be directing the other weirdos, so the woman figured might as well ask him if anyone, right?

"Excuse me, son. But what exactly are all of ya doin there?"
She looked absolutely perplexed by the variety of things purchased and being put aboard. Did the poor child not realize most of what he purchased was junk?

The man turned with a look of shock. "What are we DOING?" He shook his head hard, side to side. "What we're doing is preparing for our grand voyage into the Grand Line.... grandly! For I, Gerome Jackson of the Cool Guy Pirates will one day be KING OF THE PIRATES! Bwahahaha!" As he laughed and exclaimed this he struck a pose. One arm above parallel to his forehead, one below his chin parallel to that. Then he turned his head sideways between his arms. "And don't you forget it!"

Emilie De Cortagne
As the Lucky Nova pulled in to Balaggan the crew had the opportunity to witness a mildly rare phenomenon. Emilie, instead of being hard at work on some chore or another was instead waiting on deck at the railing, sometimes breaking off to pace restlessly. This was not a product of laziness or neglect, in fact she had gotten up a few hours earlier than her already normally early start time to make sure all of her duties would be completed before they pulled in it port.

In her own quiet, dutiful way Emilie was quite excited by their stop here. While she had made do with the rather basic supplies she was able to pick up at their last stop in a proper port city like Balaggan she would be able to pick up the proper, high quality items necessary to bring the Lucky Nova up to a standard she considered vaguely acceptable. It was true the ship would probably never attain the sparkling standards of her former Lord's castle, not without reinforcement proportional to the small army of domestic servants he had employed. But the ship's current state fell well short of what it could be, Emilie was sure of it. Maybe no one else noticed the dullness of the wooden walls, or the lack of pop in the whites of the freshly laundered linens but to Emilie they were stains upon her honor as a maid! Fortunately with the right weapons they would all be eradicated without mercy. As soon as the ship was safely docked Emilie approached the small cluster of her crewmates where they were discussing the markets and cleared her throat.

"I also need to procure supplies myself," she said in her soft, placid tones. "Cleaning supplies mostly but I was hoping to obtain thread and fabric to keep everyone's clothes in good order so Ms Talone I imagine it might be efficient for us to acquire some of these articles together. Additionally if your intention is to produce hats for everyone in the crew then I need to consult with you about the proper maintenance and cleaning protocols of such garments.

Also Mr. Newman, please remain near the side of the ship while you consume those. If they affect you adversely I'd rather not have the contents of your stomach all over the deck,"

It was somewhat rare for Emilie to even being a conversation, unless she was admonishing someone for some unsuitable facet of their personal hygiene or supplying the location of one of the obscure household goods she seemed to have an encyclopedic knowledge of. It was however practically unheard of for her to suggest doing something together. By and large Emilie seemed to consider her duties as separate from the rest of the crew's, although she was attentive to other orders from Cait she otherwise kept to herself, either cleaning or when there was none to be done running through drills meant to keep her combat skills sharp. On this rare occasion though what Emilie perceived as her most important duty coincided with where the rest of the crew was going already.

Emilie's first order of business would be to track down a couple of different stores and procure a couple of quotes for bulk orders of the things she needed. Emilie was out of her own money so these purchases would need to come out of the ships' reserves, Emilie wanted a good idea of how much she would need to request from the captain before bothering her about it and the quotes would also be useful for haggling. When ordering in bulk businesses would often lower their prices to some extent rather than lose a big chunk of business. Emillie would be remiss in her duties if she overspent through a lack of diligence.

Overall Emilie's shopping list was fairly simple, though she would need large quantities to get them through the Grand Line in good order. Good quality soap was a must have, cheaper blocks for cleaning and the laundry as well as higher quality, scented ones for personal use. Then there was sand, sandstone bricks for scouring the floors and loose, fine river sand for kitchen ware and ornaments. Cleaning Soda for those stubborn stains and oil to protect and put a shine on the wooden floors and walls. Cleaning rags for delicate washing and polishing where sand would cause damage. Then of course there was the holy grail.

Lannerly's Laundry blue. Small pouches of chemical that were dunked into washing tubs to counteract the yellowing or greying of whites with a trace amount of blue to make them look whiter. Laundry blue was a fairly common household item and there were both cheap brands meant to be used over and over in poorer brands as well as higher quality products more focused on giving a high quality finish. Back at the castle Emilie and her fellow maids had rigorously tested almost every household product they could order through mail catalogues, searching for the best and most economical. Of all the laundry blues they had tested only Lannerly's had the long lasting durability of the sturdiest brands AND the eye searing white of more expensive products. As the ship had drawn nearer and nearer to Balaggan Port Emilie had begun to dream of that crisp, flawless shade of white. Somewhere in this bustling port would sell Lannerly's. They had to.

Alex Q. Draw
Alex heard the quick shuffling of feet as she watched the bar tender make a concoction of coffee mixed with raw eggs. It sounded like the overnight bar patrons were leaving. A smirk appeared on her lips. "Good choice," she thought confidently.

She heard another pair of footsteps that sounded like they were coming closer to her, but didn't focus her attention in that direction. She absently stroked the underside of Jet's beak with one of her fingers as she waited for her hangover remedy to be ready. Once it was, she grabbed the cup and started to sip. That's when she finally noticed the man that was walking toward her.

Alex gave a thankful nod toward Darius as he payed for her drink. Her smirk waned a little at the "beautiful" comment though. The man might be good looking, but she didn't peg herself as the settling down type. She didn't really want to settle down to be honest. She figured Darius's comment wasn't supposed to be looked into that much, but that still didn't stop her negative feelings toward the flirtatious advance. She has never liked being flirted with.

"Alex Q. Draw. This is Jet." she said, introducing herself and her bird companion. She didn't offer Darius her hand to shake, instead she kept one firmly on the cup she was holding and the other relaxed on the bar's counter top. "Sorry, I'm already spoken for crew wise," she gruffly replied. It was a good thing he had said more about her skills than her looks, otherwise she would have smacked the guy. "You done staring?" she grumpily added; She wouldn't patiently take much more of what she felt was ogling.

Anjellyka Marinus

Anjellyka finally made it to Balaggan Port. To be honest, she was terrified. This place was so much bigger than the villages she was used to seeing. What if they attack her? What if she couldn’t find someone willing to accept her? What if she hurts someone? There were so many variables, so many ways that her plan could go wrong. Nonetheless her determination carried her forward out of the safety of the sea and onto land.

Her first goal was to find something to cover herself with more than just a skirt and tank top. Too much of her venomous skin was exposed, she could hurt someone! Taking a deep breath to compose herself, she walked further toward the buildings. She smiled as she walked, for as much as she loved the ocean there was just something so exciting about places like this! People bustling around doing this and that, animals running around, the children chasing them, music playing out from the taverns, she let herself be immersed in the energy.

Anjellyka didn’t notice the people staring at her on the street. Out of the water her blue, semi-transparent skin only made her stand out rather than blend in and due to her not visiting a village in a while she had not gotten a chance to cut her tentacles. This caused them to drag on the ground all around her in shimmery veil of venom.

Too distracted by the energy of the city she wasn’t looking where she was walking and tripped over her own tentacles, faceplanting into the pavement. Embarrassed, she quickly looked around in hope that no one saw her fall. Her gaze fell upon the faces of at least a dozen pedestrians, their gazes causing the jellyfish fishman to instantly blush, her cheeks turning a deep blue. Anjellyka scrambled to her feet and ducked into a nearby alleyway.

She ran until a cat perched on a few crates stole her attention. “Hello, kitty.” She greeted, waving at the animal. It didn’t seem to have much interest in her however, losing interest in the animal Anjellyka stood up and turned around, ready to get back to her goal. Which was….what again? She was here to get on a ship, right? So...why was she not by the ships again? Crap, she forgot. She slapped her hands to her face and groaned, shaking her head slightly causing her tentacles to sway back and forth, glistening.

Taking a deep breath trying to think of her task at hand, she walked out of the alleyway but stopped when she head the crates where the cat was sitting shuffle. She turned her head to see the cat had followed her, to her horror she saw the poor thing had caught sight of her tentacles. It was playfully pawing the air above the tips of the venomous things that were dragging on the ground. “N-no! Bad kitty! Dangerous!” She tried to shoo away the animal before it got hurt. She jumped a few steps back but the cat playfully followed.

Concerned for the safety of the animal, Anjellyka took off running, away from the animal. She glanced behind her as she ran to find the cat was still following, obviously thinking this was a game. “Go away kitty! You’re going to get hurt!” She shouted again. She frantically looked around for someone who might be able to help her, someone she could approach.

Sitting by himself she saw a man wrapped in bandages. He barely had any skin showing! Perfect! She had a better chance of not harming him than another! Gathering up all her courage she shouted at him. “H-Hey! Help get this cat away from me!”

Jayjay and Anjellyka
Not catching any unwanted attention was not really Jayjay's thing. He sure felt unwanted. As he was walking down the street people walked a wide arc around him. They shot very angry glances at him. He tried to smile back, but his shiny white teeth only made peoples anger turn into disgust. It was a good thing they couldn't see much of the rest of his body or they would turn around screaming. Jayjay had made sure he was covered in bandages before the ship had even landed. "Dead ahead" had nothing to do with actual death, he had learnt over the years. No, it was not his appearance that made people avoid him. It was the stench. The new arm from Neogenesis was still quite fresh and had been oozing for the past few days. That was probably why Garret had left them. Or that letter, or whatever. They hadn't known each other for that long and Jayjay was used to faces passing by. He was surprised that the rest of the crew and his captain did not mind the stench. They all pretended not to notice and that was fine by him. He did not ask anyone along today. This afternoon he would surprise them. He was going to buy a nice perfume.

As he arrived at a perfume stall the customers suddenly went away. Jayjay had no idea why. His nose hadn't smelled scents this nice in a very long time. The merchant forced himself to say. He stuck his nose in the air and over-exaggerated breathing through his mouth and handkerchief. Jayjay didn't care. He looked over the bottles and sniffed their smell. The man grabbed his wrist and immediately let go, not willing to touch him longer than necessary. Jayjay was tempted to just continue searching and pretend he didn't notice, but he did not want even more 'unwanted' attention. He looked up. The man was breathing heavily and getting red. "Sir, could you please stop sniffing our samples. You might taint them with your own. I don't think I could stand smelling even a little bit of that for a day" He said. Jayjay was a little annoyed, but he couldn't find a sassy remark fast enough.

"two points for weakness" a voice from his bag said.

"Jayhayhayhayhay, good one, Thing."

"Excuse me?"

"It's very disconcerting" the voice from the bag said again. Jayjay laughed even harder.

"Pah, not just ill-scented, but ill-mannered as well." Jayjay immediately fell silent.

"That's not how puns work."

"I have had enough of your insults. Get out of here, or I'll call the guards."

"but I haven't bought my perfume yet."

"today. Purchasing it"

"Fine" the merchant pressed a bottle in Jayjay's hand. "It's on the house if you promise me never to return."

He still had the bottle in his firm grip. Childishly Jayjay tried to pry it from his hands but it would budge with his one hand.

"OK, deal. Have a nice weak day!" The merchant let go and Jayjay turned around and left.

Jayjay felt a bit down as he went to a place where he could sit on his own.

"preserve the happiness of the village people at any cost"

"Thank you, Thing, that's a nice thing to say."

In fact Jayjay had been down for a few days now. Ever since they had left Neogenesis he had started thinking about his own existence in the most random moments. Like buying perfume from a merchant. The zombies and the professors recordings had shaken him up. His bag opened and thing crawled out to caress Jayjay's other hand. One of the recording shells had fallen out of it. He had taken them with him. The professor might have been his creator. Or at least similar to his creator. The man himself was gone, so the shells were his only hope at finding the answers. He had played them over and over to find some kind of hidden message, but he hadn't found it yet. If there even was such a message. Thing had memorized the entire text and sometimes played the right words at the right moments. Jayjay sighed and stared in front of him. This was going to be a long day.

A woman's call for help caught his attention. A very fury small thing was following her. "Kitty! Cute little kitty!" He went over to caress the kitten and then he realized that the woman actually wanted to be saved from and held back his hand. "I mean bad kitty! Evil scary kitty!" The kitten was clearly more interested in the woman. Jayjay looked up and saw why that was. The woman rocked an awesome Ragea hat. And her skin was blue. In his eyes he could see her fear and loneliness. He immediately saw where she came from.

He opened his bag and let Thing down. "Thing, maybe you should distract the kitty while I talk with this lady." Thing did not want to let go of Jayjay's hand. He was shivering. Thing was not a big fan of cats. They always tried to bite and scratch his moving fingers. "Please Thing?" Thing did not let go. "If you do this for me, we can play thumb wrestling all you want later" That seemed to do the trick. Reluctantly Thing let go and scurried over to the cat Where he just wriggled until he got the kittens attention. Jayjay held out his other hand: "Hey, nice lady. I'm Jayjay."

Anjellyka looked at the man's hand out in front of her, then glanced past him at the severed hand that distracted the cat before looking back at him. He had saved the cat from her but now it was like he wanted to hurt himself! "I-I...You shouldn't touch me..I hurt people." She muttered carefully, ignoring the man's hand. "Thats why I wanted help, the cat would've gotten hurt." Crossing her arms she looked past him at the hand once more. "What is that? It looks like a hand but it runs around like an animal?" She wondered, curious as well as trying to get off the previous subject.

"Oh that? That's Thing. My right hand."
As if that was the only explanation necessary. Thing turned around to wave, which the cat used as an opportunity to attack from behind. It scratched Thing. Thing turned around and continued the fight. Jayjay's hand was still stretched out. "I'm a doctor. I think I can take care of myself after I touch you." He lunged forward and grabbed her hand anyways. Nothing happened. "Nice to meet you, blue lady."

Anjellyka's eyes went wide as her hand was grabbed. She expected screaming, pain, for him to fight her but nothing happened. "You're not in pain?" She questioned curiously. "Jayjay, was it? I'm Anjellyka." She introduced herself finally, still amazed that this man was not writhing on the ground. "Are all doctors immune to pain?" She wondered innocently.

"I don't know, I haven't met much doctors... I think. Except for Yuki and I don't think anything can hurt that lady. She's weird"

"I havn't talked with many doctors, they usually shoo me away so they can help the people I touch. Are most doctors nice like you?"

"Again, I don't know. I like that you think I'm nice, but I don't know wether you think Yuki would be nice though. It sure sounds like you had some bad experiences with doctors. Let me show you how it is done." He forcely shook her hand again. "Good morning my lady. I'm Jayjay, your doctor for today. What seems to be the problem?"

"U-uh..." She trailed off, not knowing exactly what to say. Did he want her to do something? Reaching up she grabbed hold of one of her tentacles and with one swift tug pulled it out. "My tentacle came off." She responded, smiling, handing him the venomous thing.

Jayjay took it into his hand and studied it closely. He was genuinely interested in Anjellyka's anatomy. It seemed like a long tentacle from some sort of jellyfish. "Tentacles you say? have you always had those? Doesn't it hurt to pull one out?"

Thinking back Anjellyka tried to remember. She has always had tentacles, right? She thought so, they are too familiar. "Yeah, they've always been there. It doesn't hurt to pull them off or cut them. No matter what I do they keep growing out of my head anyways." She explained, putting her hands up on the dome part of her head.

"That's amazing! In a good way. Why don't you like them?"

"They get too long and i trip...and it makes me seem different. People look at me funny." She crossed her arms and looked at the ground swaying back and forth causing her multitude of tentacles to glisten.

Slowly Jayjay brought his hand up to unfold the bandages. His ghastly looking rotten appearance became visible. "Looking different is not always a bad thing. You just have to know how to hide it when you need it."

Anjellyks stared at Jayjay, not of fear but of curiousity. She had never seen someone who looked like him. "You are different too?! But you blend in so easy. C-could you teach me...how to blend in?"

Jayjay felt a tender feeling. Of course he would help her. He had been there before. "Of course. If you have some time we could start right now. I have to get back to my ship later, but maybe you can even come with and we'll see what happens."

A ship?! Did he just say a ship?! "Y-YOU HAVE A SHIP?!" She shouted much louder than she intended. Instantly she collapsed to the ground, her hands at Jayjay's feet. "I've been looking for a ship! Please, PLEASE let me come with you! I-I'll work hard, I'll do whatever you tell me to! I promise!" She looked up at him with hope in her eyes.

"Yes! Come with us!" He was caught in her enthusiasm and energy, but then he realized something. "Well, it's not really my ship. It's Jin's, my captain. He is a cool guy. He can handle me so he probably can handle you as well. But just to be sure. maybe we should do some of that blending in 101 first".

Filled with excitement and hope, she lept to her feet and linked her arm with Jayjay's. "Just tell me what to do, teacher!"

"Yosh! First lesson of today: concealing your appearance. Thing, Let's go shopping!" Thing excitedly jumped of and poked the cats nose. It turned around and ran away. Thing ran towards Anjellyka and grabbed her other hand. "Let's go, my apprentice! Or student? ... Let's just say friend for now!" And they started walking.

Limstella was minding her own business looking out to the distant sea. She... might of vomited in the room she hid in because of her sea sickness, but otherwise she was fine. The sea was waving, the birds were cawing, everything was fine. That was until Scarlet hollered some speech about family. Nostalgia flowed into her by the word 'family'. If only they were alive she could of avoided this situation. Not that thinking about it mattered, since they were dead. Another thought came into her mind when she thought more about Scarlet's words. They were never going to be family. If anything it'll just be a fake imitation which she would place her false hopes into.

Well this couldn't get worse- That was until Scarlet ran straight up at them, and asked if they wanted to shop together. Limstella internally died inside because currently she did not want to deal with Scarlet. Though shopping sounded good. What could go wrong than a simple shopping trip? "Sure... I guess," Limstella simply said as she leaned against the edge of the ship.

Syrin InsinuThe trip to Balaggan was a quiet one for Syrin, of his own making of course. The news that Albi had gotten hurt to the point which Sora had decided to simply leave in hopes of finding a way to properly heal the little critter had hit Syrin harder than he let on. Maybe it was his perpetual soft spot for animals, or maybe it was because the only reason he could even think of staying on this ship with this crew had disappeared into thin air. Still, he owed it to Sora to at least get the person he assigned as captain in his stead to wherever they needed to go for one last trip, and if the place they were going just so happened to be a port where he could continue on his merry way of navigating aimlessly, then what a wonderful happy coincidence it was in the end, now wasn't it? Still, as they had arrived at port, his commitment to this crew had ended, and as he watched Cait address the others, and then everyone starting to go their separate ways, Syrin sighed, adjusted his new hat and started a bored amble off the ship, all his worldly possessions on him and the belief that this is the last time he'd see this crew for a while at his back.

Stepping off the boat and glancing around, Syrin went in the direction he assumed would have the most merchant-like vessels that need a navigator to get them through some especially treacherous seas, or at the very least, one that would be willing to drop him off at another hotspot so he could keep on his not so merry way. It was as Syrin was searching for the best ship for him that the improbable, the unbelievable, and frankly the weird happened.

It started off innocently enough really, Syrin walking on the port aimlessly, when suddenly someone shouting and rushing by accidentally shoved him. This, of course, led to Syrin stumbling and it just so happened that the ship behind him had been unloading unicycles of all things. One short kerfuffle later, Syrin was speeding down the port on one of the unicycles. Unfortunately for the perpetually frowning male, that wasn't the end of it. No, for whatever obscure reason the universe decided to give, a cart of frogs happened to be passing by, and, as one would clearly see coming in such a situation, one of the frogs decided that the speeding figure passing by looked like a nice place to rest, and one hop, skip, jump, and somersault later, Syrin was now the not-so proud owner of a frog in his jacket, a unicycle under his ass, and loathing for the world filling his being.

Luckily for both the mental and physical health of pretty much everyone, Syrin soon got control of the runaway one-wheel vehicle and stepped off of it, looking around to find himself in a completely different part of the harbor than he was in previously. Tossing the unicycle aside, but keeping the frog for now because you never know when you might need that boy to help you out, Syrin went back to his original task of trying to find a vessel that would take him.

Ah, Balaggan port. The last island pirates from all over the big blue would rest and prepare before crossing over the treacherous waters known as the Grand Line. Of course, because of this, business for merchants, both big and small, were plentiful and booming. The streets seemed like one big shopping center, people constantly bumping into each other, looking for anything. Food, drinks, clothes, jewelry, all delicacies pirates and civilians alike craved for on a daily basis. Ah, yes. This would be the perfect place for a traveler to stop for a couple of days, buying supplies and gearing up for the long road with some well-earned Belli. Of course, you couldn't get Belli without a job. But pray tell, what would a traveler even do? Blacksmithing? Mining? Selling wares? Or maybe...

"~Grrrahahahaha! This has to be my greatest dish yet!"

Yes. Cooking! A job fit for a traveler such as Yummy Caspius Foods; The wandering cook!

In a certain tavern of an unknown label or title, in the kitchens where there were a few workers, was Yummy himself. The man was humming to himself over his two frying pans on a hot stove. One frying pan, Bob, had an assortment of peppers, green, red, and yellow, sizzling in natural vegetable oil. And the other pan, Linda, had eggs being fried in the same substance. There were a man and a woman worker behind him watching the cook sing in his own little world in confusions, watching his well-kempt large afro bob to and fro as he moved his hips to the imaginary rhythm.

"Uh-Uhm...didn't he said that the last time he made something?" The man whispered to the woman, who sweatdropped at the question and shrugged.

"I-I'm pretty sure he did." The woman replied unconfidently. "...Di-Did anyone even order the omelette?" Ever since this man had arrived a few days ago, it was honestly hard to keep track of him. One moment he showed up as a customer, and then the next minute, he was hired for making meals by the owner of the tavern. Although odd, he sure was the best cook they had in a while. Dishes that would've taken them at least an hour were done in thirty minutes or less, and the only thing she and her fellow co-workers had to do now took the customers their food, receiving tips due to how good the food tasted! She didn't know if he was trying to steal her job or make it better!

"I'm tellin' ya'll," Yummy began in his normal southern drawl some would describe as 'Funky'. "Today's customer'll really have their socks knocked off once they tried my famous 'Omega Omlette Odyssey'!" He proclaimed, doing his...unique laugh once more. The workers behind him merely sweatdropped and nodded. "Fresh eggs from a three-horned chicken being fried to golden perfection! Perfectly picked peck of peppers washed and also being fried to perfection! And last, but not least-" Yummy quickly poured the peppers from Bob on one side of the fried eggs before reaching over to a white bowl, never breaking eye contact from his beloved pans, and took a handful of cut-up cooked meat before sprinkling it on the other side. "Some bacon from a nice plump blue pig I found!"

'Should we be salivating or shaking?' The workers simultaneously thought. There was a pregnant pause for minutes that seemed like hours, the smells of various ingredients being clashed together surrounding the three, before the workers jumped when Yummy suddenly whirled around with the pan in his hand.

"~GRRRAHAHAHAHA! The Omega Omlette is complete!" Yummy laughed. The workers flinched when Yummy began to actually snuggle his cheek against the hot pan, making sure his facial hairs did not taint such a beautiful dish. "Oh, another beautiful masterpiece! How I love you so much! ~If I had a child, I'd name him 'OOO' just for you! ~GRRRAHAHAHAHA!" Yummy laughed as he held the pan up in the air and twirled like a burly ballerina.

'Isn't that frying pan still hot?' They thought simultaneously again as they watched him prance around the kitchen, taking out a small pepper shaker from the cabinet.

"Time for the finishing touches! Some pepper," He said and shook out the pepper onto the omelet. He then skipped, literally skipped, over to another bowl with a green mix in it. "A dash of Pesto Sauce," With a swift motion, he had grabbed a ladle and skillfully spread a thin line of the peppers and meat. He set down the ladle and closed the fried eggshell. "And finally, one parsley for Aesthetic!" He pranced to the fridge and looked inside...

And then he walked to the pantry again and looked inside...

"Wh-Where's..." He began quietly, causing the workers to look at one another before turning back to Yummy and leaning in to try and decipher what he was trying to say. "WHERE'S THE PARSELY?!" He cried, so loud his distressed voice carried into the tavern outside, causing almost everyone there to go quietly. "This is bad! This is bad, bad, bad! I can't serve this! It's unfinished! It's unperfect! Every cook must put 100% effort into a dish! But this?! This is only 99.99% effort! ITS NOT ENOUGH EFFORT, DAMN IT!"

He suddenly stood up and ran to a plate, gently placing the omelette onto it before wrapping the plate up in plastic wrap to keep it fresh and clean and warm before he shoved it into his afro. "Ha! This should keep it warm for awhile!" He turned his back to the workers and pushed up his shades. "Don't worry, guys. I'll get the parsley and rescue the Tavern's reputation before things really go south! No customer is going to give US a bad review!"

"But...no one ordered-" The man tried to say, but Yummy had already burst through the door and ran out the tavern. A cook on a mission! A dangerous mission! Yummy smiled and ran into the busy streets of Balaggan Port, trusty frying pans holstered at both sides.

And if he had control over what his parents called him the day he was born, dangerous would've been his middle name!

...or Tyrone. Tryone seemed like a pretty cool name.

Mizuki_Reikon-Banner.jpg

The crisp air filled Mizuki's lungs as she took a deep breath in, stepping off from the plank onto the docks of Balaggan Port. Her long blueish white hair flowed behind her, reaching down just past her waist. A button up long sleeve teal jacket hugged around her arms though left completely. A white crop top fit snugly on her body, teasing her cleavage along with most of her stomach. A pair of long matching darker blue pants held to her legs. It was her outfit of choice for casual wear, easy to put on and simply comfortable.

She gripped onto her bag as it remained slung behind her shoulder, her elegant bo staff resting before her acting as a walking stick. Lacking eyesight, it was only natural she needed a way to navigate areas she wasn't use to. She had her own resourceful 'ways' of getting around her lack of vision, but it was nowhere near perfect enough to deal with the more discrete obstacles that might pop up along the way. She turned her head, hearing a familiar set of footprints following behind her.

"And you are sure you will be alright here? Just be careful, there are a lot of freebooters around, and many a merchant who are far from as kind as myself in this port. Its very likely someone will try and take advantage of you... many unsavory types around who don't care much about your errm... disability." The bearded merchant spoke, a bit of nervousness in his voice as he seemed to not be sure how to word himself. It wasn't hard to tell he seemed to hold a sense of pity for Mizuki, not one to usually act out of kindness. Mizuki's face remained static, putting on a light smile.

"I appreciate it but I will be fine. Thanks for the ride, I really appreciate it!" She spoke giving a light wave of her staff hand before turning to walk off. Her little smile faded to a look of displeasure.

I'm really tired of having to play up my damn blindness. I got away from home so I can stand on my own two feet and not be looked down on, and all I've done is rely upon my disability to get pity rides on ships! All I want to do is sail the world and prove myself as being good enough to stand on my own two feet and do a job! Why won't anyone just accept me as a navigator! I mean I show I can do it... She paused her thought walking forward using her staff to check in front of her, masterfully avoiding bumping into anyone on the way having no problem in avoiding running into anyone. So what if i was pointing to a blueprint and not a map! I'm blind you jerk I can't tell it was't a map I was pointing to!

Mizuki shook her head, brushing away the thoughts of her last attempt to join a crew and the embarrassing scene she got herself involved in with it. She clutched at her bag with her belongings, ensuring it was snugly on her back. Her staff remained up front as she rather skillfully navigated her way around the crowd. Port Balaggan was one of her last chances to find a crew. She knew many pirates often visited the port making it an idea place to find a pirate crew. It made the most sense for her to truly get the freedom she wanted. The life on a merchant ship seemed so dull and boring, where as the Marines were far to restrictive for her own liking. She was convinced she would find a crew on this island.... somehow.... she hoped...

The citizens of Balaggan Port had seen some odd spectacles. Pirates with odd devil fruit powers, merchants with one eye, and even street performers who could actually swallow swords. But never in their lives had they seen some kind of yellow-afro maniac sprinting down the road...if such a run could even be called sprinting. Men, women, and children alike all cleared the way as the cook took off in the direction of the marketplace.

"Gotta get it, gotta get it, gotta get it!"
Yummy chanted to himself. Some would say that one small piece of lettuce wouldn't be important, but obviously, those who would say that weren't dedicated cooks like him! A cook needed to get every nook and cranny of their dishes to perfection! Saying you don't need parsley for an omelet is like saying pepper doesn't go in ramen! Or that you don't need a knife for steak! ...well, that WAS technically true, considering you can just pick it up with a fork and eat it uncut, BUT ONLY A FEW PEOPLE DO THAT! Bottom line is, Yummy needed to get that Parsley! He wasn't complete without it!

The man took a sharp turn around the corner, sliding across the ground with a screech, and zoomed down the road. Behind his (rather cool) shades, his eyes sparkled with delight as he saw the marketplace in the distance. Merchants of all gender and species, humnm and fishman, were selling their wares. He could practically feel the cute parsley tickling his palm now! The mere thought of it joining with its omelet accomplice to breath-taking for words! N-No...Yummy sniffed. Do-Don't cry! You're a big cook! Today is the day Yummy's dish would be saved! And nothing could stop him! Not even a girl with blue ha-wait a minute.

CRASH!

Before Yummy knew it, his body almost instantly crashed into the poor girl. And as they either stumbled or fell, Yummy...was dramatically turning from the Collison? "~NOOOOOO!" He cried as he slowly fell to the ground with grace, tears of failure streaming down his face, from his sad cheeks to his sad handsome jawline. H-He...He had been stopped. The poor cook laid helplessly on the floor, staring at the beautiful cloudless sky with a look of utter despair. Ho-How...How could he have failed his mission? H-He was Yummy...Yummy the cook! HOW?! How could he have failed?! WHAT COULD'VE POSSIBLY-

Oh...the woman...he forgot...he jumped up immediately with concern. OH NO! THE WOMAN!

"Gah! How could I be so BLIND?!" Yummy cried, running over to the woman and helping her if needed. "Are you okay? Are you injured? Do you need CPR? Surgery? CPR with Surgery?! Oh, I'm so sorry! ~Forgive meeeee!" He exclaimed, getting onto his knees and slamming his forehead to the ground.

Marcus Gaverenton
At Norman's words, Marcus turned, a quizzical look on his face. "Juices? I don't make any 'juices', Norman. I make medicine, among other...scientific...experiments...with chemicals..." All the color drained out of Marcus' face, as he saw Norman hold up each vial. If anyone's sense of hearing was good enough, they could probably hear Marcus' heart stop. He seemed to age almost twenty years, as he tried to register the information he had just gathered. Norman had just drank from not just one, but three of his vials. And they weren't medicines. They were poisons. Poisons that weren't meant just for a light stomachache. They were some of his most lethal poisons that he only kept hidden behind the other assortments of labeled vials.

Suddenly, Marcus sprung into action, running over and grabbing Norman's collar, a mix of fear and anger evident on the doctor's face. He began to violently shake Norman as veins began to bulge from his forehead. "
You FUCKING IDIOT! Are you some suicidal maniac who wants to die so young?! Why the FUCK would you even THINK of going into my room, and then have the thought that you should DRINK from my CLEARLY LABELED VIALS OF MEDICINE AND POISONS! You're some kind of fucking IDIOT, you DUMB FUCKING COOK!"

Snatching the vials from Norman, Marcus held each one up. "
And you know what?! Each one of these vials are probably worth so much more than your life now! Some of these were made from materials from islands from the NEW WORLD that I got from traders passing through Mirstone! They costed me a fortune, and you just straight up drank them, thinking they were JUICE?! I swear, first that dumb shipwright who I can't stand, and now you. I can't believe you drank my most potent poisons! These can kill you in...in...mere minutes."

Marcus' voice began to become quieter as his face was once again taking on a confused look. Looking down at the boy, he lifted up each arm, feeling his pulse, and then examined the little skin he could see around Norman's eyes, then examining the man's eyes themselves. He then stood back up, crossing his arms over his chest. "
Norman...are you by chance resistant to poisons?" Looking down at his vials, he then looked back at Norman. "Or even completely immune to most, if not all poisons?"

Elijah Baden

Elijah wandered the streets of the port, looking down at his small list of needed materials. He had already made his first stop for Marcus, which was evident by a clothed object sticking out of his bag on his back. At a glance, it was long, but the tightly-kept cloth kept it from being revealed. Elijah was still surprised that this was something that the uptight doctor asked for. It was even more confusing on how he had been asked to go about it. Then again, it didn't cost much, so Elijah didn't mind.

"
Hey, you! Sir!" Elijah paused when he felt a hand on his shoulder. Turning to look back, he saw a short man with curling gray hair that almost looked like an afro and a very large mustache looking up at him. He was dressed in dirty clothes, but underneath the rags he had tough and weathered muscles, and his hands were covered in calluses. Immediately, Elijah noticed the man was some sort of craftsman. "Whatcha need? I'm a little busy getting ready to sail out by tonight."

The man just smiled as he stood back, looking Elijah over once, before locking onto the shipwright of the Tiger Shark Pirates with his eyes, which were as blue as sapphires. "
Well, I'll be damned. I will be damned to hell. To think you of all people would come through. A face that even someone as old as I can recognize." The man turned, beckoning Elijah over to a tent nearby. Skeptical at first, Elijah considered just walking away, but he was sure that he could take the man in a fight if need be.

As Elijah entered the tent, the scent of oil and metal hit him, and he was surprised to see a few other men and women within. They each looked at Elijah for a moment, smiled, and continued working on little contraptions at their workbenches, which lined the sides of the tent. The old man walked over to a table at the back, where he sat at a stool and motioned for Elijah to take a seat at the stool in front of him, which he did.

As he put down his bag, the man held his arms out. "Welcome to Balaggan Port, Eli. This is my little shipwrighting and inventing company." As Elijah was about to open his mouth to ask a question, the man waved at him dismissively. "You have questions, so I'll answer all the obvious ones. Firstly, I'm a friend of your parents. Especially Quinn. She worked with me before moving to Loslat with your father. You look similar to your mother: rough face, the sandy hair, determined look. Only thing different is your tan skin, which I know you get from Finn. A terrible thing, what happened to Quinn, bless her soul. She was a mighty fine craftsman, and an amazing woman. I do wish I could have seen her one more time before the incident, but fate is a cruel mistress."

A man walked up and placed two glasses of whiskey on the table before walking away. The old man held his glass up before swallowing it in one swallow, slamming the drink down on the table. "
Go on, drink, boy. I know that Quinn wouldn't raise some loser who couldn't hold their drink."

Eli, still confused about the whole situation, grabbed the glass and downed it in one go. As he slammed his glass on the table, the alcohol hit him. He gripped the table, feeling the rush course through him. He grit his teeth, and when the aftertaste began to kick in, he let out a relieved sigh, and looked at the glass. "
God DAMN! What the hell is this beautiful drink?"

The old man grinned. "
Of course you would like it. It was your mother's favorite drink, anyways. It's called Demon Blood Whiskey, one of the strongest whiskeys on this side of the Grand Line. Expensive as hell these days, but when it first was out it was pretty cheap. We have cases upon cases of them! This is out typical party drink." The old man laughed, before pausing and perking up. "Ah, right. I never introduced myself. I'm Samuel Pur." The man held out his hand, and Elijah took it. "And I'm Elijah Baden. 'Course, you already figured out that much." Leaning back, Elijah looked around the tent. "Well damn, Samuel. I knew my parents had shipwrighting pals, but what a coincidence we run into each other here."

Samuel nodded, smiling. "
Indeed, indeed. Now, Quinn told me that, if one day I was to run into you, I was to give you as much help as you needed. However..." Samuel leaned forwards, his gaze becoming intense. "Before I can give you any help, I need to know just one thing about you...what is your goal? What is your drive these days?"

Elijah sat for a moment, wondering if he should tell the man his reasons for sailing with a pirate crew. Why he had learned how to fight, and why he was where he was. Taking a deep breath, Elijah let out a deep sigh before speaking. "
I want to prove that no person can hold a Baden back, and when you fuck with one of us, we come back swinging. Right now? I want to prove to the Navy that they messed with the wrong shipwrights. I will make a ship that can take on any Navy battalion. Not just for my mother, but to prove my worth as someone to carry her name in this world."

Samuel didn't speak for a moment, but his pursed lips grew back into a wide grin, and slammed his fist on the table. "
Now that is what I wanted to hear! You better succeed, you damned idiot, because if you don't, I'm sure that demon of a mother you have will wipe your ass on the floor of Hell itself! Listen, you give me that shopping list of yours, and I'll get you all the resources you need by nightfall. You have my word."

Elijah grinned, handing the man the list. "
Great. Gives me some time to sell some gadgets for some extra cash. Look for the Lucky Nova in the harbor. There will hopefully be someone there to help you with it all." Standing up, Elijah grabbed his bag and threw it over his shoulder. "Well, I better get going. Good meetin' you, Samuel. I'll drink to your name if I make it in this world."

Samuel nodded, reaching under the table and pulling out a bottle of alcohol, and slid it across the table towards Elijah's hand. "
You better. And it better be a glass of that Demon Blood Whiskey. Make a drink for me and a drink for your mother. Only bring it out for a special occasion."

Elijah grabbed the bottle, which was rather thin, but also had a wide square-like design. Holding it up, he tossed it in his bag as he walked out of the tent, waving to the man as he went. Back on the street, Elijah smiled. "
Even in death, you're looking after me, huh, Mom?" Shaking his head, he continued down the street, looking for a vendor to sell his wares to.

Captain Scarlet Johanna Indigrid
For Scarlet, it wasn’t really critical that Nerissa or Limstella come along on her shopping adventure. She only asked them because she imagined they were the two who would enjoy a shopping expedition the most… and that thought came from the fact that they were girls and that they seemed capable of enjoying things like clothing. That did not mean that she wasn’t absolutely delighted, though, when more people volunteered to come along for the adventure as well. The more the merrier… that was the saying that flowed through her head.

“Sure, Ed and yeah, Jasper! You can both tag along. I can always use second opinions and I do have to make a whole new wardrobe after all.” Scarlet chuckled with excitement. It almost seemed as though she wasn’t even sad that Charybdis had been lost. She was, but that was harder to see than even Scarlet knew. “I don’t think I need anything else of you right now, Jasper. You can definitely come along! It’ll be fun!!” Jasper, of course, having met Scarlet before all the other crew members, had been on a fair few shopping ventures with Scarlet before so she knew that he knew the routine. It wasn’t really a hard or unusual routine.

Whether Nerissa was ready to leave or not, Scarlet was content to head out because by that point, most of the rest of their crew had departed as well. Actually quite excited about the prospect of going shopping, the young captain was skipping jubilantly. Looking back behind her, she waved her hand and gestured for the others to come along with her and be excited like her.

Heading down the road that seemed to lead into the city, Scarlet noted that there weren’t a lot of shops like what she was looking for close to the docks. Most of those shops seemed to be more directed towards food and ship supplies and the like and it really made sense. She was content to continue walking past those shops without really giving them much more than a glance to see if they might hold what she was looking for. It took a little bit of walking, but eventually Scarlet came upon a much more clean and organized area that seemed to hold her particular interests.

The first store that she happened to see was a shoe store. “Oooh! I do need more shoes!” Scarlet proclaimed and she charged inside, not really paying much attention to what her followers and companions happened to be up to. Immediately, she headed straight for the boots.

Stacy Beauregard
When she listened to Jin’s evaluation and comments in regards to the Dawn Chaser, she was surprised that the term ‘home’ didn’t come up at all because she could hear in his voice how much he valued the ship and how close it was to who he was as a person. It was kinda like her. Stacy wanted a home… a place where she didn’t have to fear what could go wrong when she tried to defend herself.

His question, however, took her by even more surprise and for a moment, Stacy’s eyes turned away from him to conceal her reaction to it. Instead of watching him, she was watching the city, watching the port and watching all the people coming and going from all the ships in the area. She was watching it all and thinking about how much she had been through that she had yet to really share with anyone. She’d gotten close, once, back in Mirstone, but that hope probably didn’t exist anymore and so she did feel the need to try and find herself a place she felt comfortable.

“I’m not sure how much you know about the crew you inherited, Jin,” she began, “but I’m a small part of it that has already been under three different captains, yourself included. I think of all three of them, you’re the one who I trust the most and I’ve known you the least, honestly. I think… I think I will stick around and be your shipwright for a while. I don’t know how long I will stay, but I’m going to give it my full effort and see how it goes.” Stacy still wanted to give herself time to get to know Jin and to get to know their crew, but she also wanted to at least make a commitment to try. That was the promise she was making. “I’m not very good at making long term promises, but I can promise you I will be on the Dawn Chaser when it leaves Balaggan Port and I will do my best to keep her up and running until it should no longer be my home.”

And Stacy sincerely hoped that that would be enough for him. She took his hand, assuming it was still extended by that point, and she shook to confirm her simple vow and then she headed back to the ship, determined to get a better feel of the vessel that was now her charge as well as looking into the issue her captain had mentioned.

Getting back on board the Dawn Chaser, Stacy didn’t honestly pay much attention to anyone who might still be there because after her conversation with Jin, she felt more like it was a good idea to keep to her own thoughts for a little while. Even Stacy herself wasn’t sure how serious she had been when she’d called the Dawn Chaser her home and she wanted and needed time to figure out the meaning behind her own words before she discussed them with anyone else on a further or more in depth level.

However, despite not really being interested in jumping in on any conversations with anyone, Stacy was still paying attention to the goings on in the dock. She wanted to know what kinds of people were coming and going and she was also watching for any supplies that she might need that might have slipped her mind at an earlier point. Stacy thought that she had everything she needed, but she’d thought that before. It was while watching the comings and goings that she saw a man step off of and toss aside a unicycle. It was certainly something she had to look twice at in order to believe her eyes. There was another reason she had to blink a few times and confirm what she was seeing, though. The face was familiar. No, the face was more than familiar. It was a comforting face too.

“Syrin!?” Stacy called out, hopefully loud enough for him to hear.

Rhyse "Risa" Talone
There was definitely more than enough reason for Risa to be excited. First and foremost, Captain Cait seemed agreeable to her mission of producing a hat for everyone on the crew. She certainly had quite a few people that she needed to get to know in order to make hats that best suited them so she acquired another mission along the way. Risa was also excited, though, because it seemed that her needs matched up with the needs of another individual on the crew as far as what areas of the port they would need to venture and what supplies they might be looking to acquire.

She couldn’t act too excited, though. She had to be professional because her hat business was a serious business.

“I’d love to accompany you, Emilie!” Risa proclaimed, quickly running to catch up with the crew member who she really didn’t feel she knew much about. This meant she could kill two birds with one stone - not literally, of course.

One thing had to be cleared up first, though. “I do think, though, that I am knowledgeable enough about my craft to know how to maintain such garments. My own hats are in the most pristine condition, after all.” In saying so, Risa gestured to the hat on her head at that exact moment. It was a lighter pink that contrasted with the almost deep red color of her outfit at the moment, but it was, as she had said, in very high quality keeping. Risa even took it off her head and offered it to Emilie as she walked with her. “Feel free to see for yourself.”

Emilie De Cortagne
"I believe you misunderstand me Ms Talone," Emilie said, glancing down at the proffered hat but seeming not know quite what to do with it. Emilie's even tone was remarkable considering the brisk, purposeful pace she set as the pair of them walked towards the market.

"I don't doubt your professional expertise and in fact my intention is to seek your advice rather than offer my own. . Specialty garments such as hats often require very specific cleaning, to ensure that the process does not have a deleterious impact upon the hat such as fading or losing its shape. If you would be so kind as to provide me with specific cleaning instructions regarding the materials and construction I can keep them in better condition for longer. While major repair or refurbishment of any crew hats would obviously be within the realm of your responsibility, day to day maintenance and cleaning is a facet of laundry which itself falls under the greater umbrella of maidly duties."

This was about as much as Emilie had ever said to anyone since arriving on the Lucky Nova, but Risa had managed to hit upon the one topic that could reliably draw her out of her usual tranquility. Her duty. So Emilie continued to speak, her voice remained soft but there was a subtle firmness behind it that hinted at Emilie's inflexibility on the subject.

"As the Lucky Nova's only properly trained servant I would be remiss to delegate or neglect any such tasks as might denigrate the name and standing of this househol- ship, through their incompletion. Dignity and honor are crafted over a lifetime but can be shattered by an instant of inattention. An undusted surface, an uneven table setting, a faded or unwashed hat. To a discerning eye the slightest imperfection hints at a litany of unwitnessed sins, laziness, carelessness, ignorance. Though every household has its worldly possessions their greatest jewel must always be their honor and it is this honor that servants guard through their careful attention to a household's outward appearance.

Mizuki steadily kepty up her pace as she navigated her way through the busy streets. Her wooden staff remained was kept held out before her to both help her walk and feel out for anything abnormal she might wander into. The city seemed a lot more peaceful then she expected. She had heard a lot about what a rough and tumble place Balaggan Port could be. Her own mind had managed to come up with a rather elaborate hellhole of a place during her trip. A light sigh escaped her lips in disappointment. It was a good thing it was far from the dangerous place her imagination made it out to be, though it also had over hyped her expectations to expecting so much chaos around her the stuff she did hear was quite tame.
.
The teen suddenly picked up her head. She could hear something strange in the distance. A rather puzzled expression filled her face as she was left in complete confusion what exactly it was. What the heck was it? It was nothing she had ever heard before. She tried to dismiss it as she continued to walk forward going about her business. The sound seemed to be getting louder Was she just hearing things? The sound only grew more intense as it came closer and closer. It was at that moment Mizuki realized it was heading directly for her. She didn't have a chance to react as the strange yellow blur struck straight into the blind girl sending her toppling over straight onto her rear end. Her staff escaped from her grasp, carried by the momentum forward and bouncing upon the ground before finally landing.

"Ow...." She muttered out with a notable cringe on her face. She had managed to avoid getting to hurt in the fall, outside the stinging sensation of landing on her tailbone. She propped herself up by her hands, propping herself up into a more proper sitting position with her legs sprawled out in front of her. As rough as the landing was on her body, she was left even more confused as to what it was that had crashed into her. The way the speeding figure fell was... strange to her. Despite the momentum they seemed to of struck the ground almost like a feather.... a very heavy feather that screamed 'no' while falling, but still quite elegant in its fall..

She turned her head as she could hear the figure approaching. She heard the strange man's comment, her cheeks reddening lightly as a sour filled her face. It should of been clear his choice of words were accidental, though for Mizuki having just been crashed into and having rather rough landing she didn't use much of her own common sense. She turned her head away to show defiance as she pushed off the ground standing herslef up. She leaned down to brrush herself off not responding to him immediately. She didn't bother to turn to face his direction. She began to move towards where she heard her staff bounce off the ground, using her feet to carefully feel along the ground to find it.

"Hmmph... I'm fine.... thanks a lot... jerk. I'm pretty sure this just proves I can see a lot better then you is all." She spoke in a rather pointed in tone to his perceived sleight towards her. Even as she retorted back to him, she couldn't help but question if it was perhaps a misunderstanding on her part. She simply shrugged the thought off, being too stubborn to give him the benefit of the doubt. She continued to sweep her foot around along the ground, slowly moving forward as she tried to find where her staff was. The fall had managed to distract her losing track of the sound outside where it roughly had hit the ground making it even more difficult to find where it was.

Jayjay, Anjellyka, and Kate

To be honest Anjellyka wasn’t really sure what was going on. She walked around these stands full of clothes with a bit of confusion. She reached out, feeling the different types of fabric before something bright red caught her eye. Instantly, she grabbed it off the rack and started sliding it up her arms. “Jayjay! Does this look alright?!” She called over, having no idea that what she was doing.

Jayjay looked up. He was browsing a few racks further down the stand. As soon as he saw what Anjellyka was wearing he started to laugh. “Jayhayhayhayhay! You look so fabulous wearing that! People will probably smile at you all the time.” He was rolling on the floor laughing. It looked so silly. Anjellyka’s arms indeed had something bright red on them, but the sleeves were way too long. That kinda happened when you put pants over your arms. Thing was patting him on the back as he continued laughing.

Anjellyka smiled happily. Someone said she looked fabulous!! She was however, a bit confused. Why was Jayjay laying on the ground? Why was he laughing? “Y-you really think I look fabulous?!” She shouted excitedly.

Jayjay’s laughter became less. “Well… maybe… If you would be wearing them like you are supposed to.” He stood up and walked over. He helped her out of them. Still grinning and laughing. “You are supposed to put them on your legs.”

“Oh, okay.” She twisted the fabric around in her hands. Carefully, trying to maintain her balance, she stuffed one of her feet through a hole in the fabric. Then she did the same with her other foot, in another hole. “Is this right now?”

Jayjay was laughing through the whole process. “Jayhayhay! I can’t wait till we get to the shoes!” He continued laughing, but then he saw Anjellyka’s confused face. “Here, let me show you. Thing, some assistance please.” Thing hobbled over while Jayjay took the pants from Anjellyka. He took out his sword and severed his legs in one clean slice. With his good arm he lowered himself to the floor. “So you wanna start with the big hole at the bottom of your feet.” His legs stepped into the top of the pants. “And then you need to put each feet in one of the smaller hole’s. Like my lovely assistant is showing.” The feet stepped into the holes. “And then you pull them up to your hips” He used his arms to pull them up. “And as the finishing touch you close the zipper.” Thing closed the zipper and the legs spinned around to show the whole pants.

“And now please help me back up Thing.” He pulled himself up the rack to the legs, but just as he tried to put his torso on them the legs took one step sideways. Jayjay looked confused. The legs took another step. “Oh no, not this again. Don’t you dare.” The legs looked defiantly at Jayjay. Very slowly as if to mock Jayjay he turned around towards the end of the street. “Don’t run off from me like that.” And then the legs took off. “Quick, after them!”

Jayjay used his arms as a monkey would and moved after the legs as fast as he could.

Anjellyka watched, dumbfounded for a second as the bright red pair of pants ran away from them. It took her only a moment before she started running after them. “Hey! Come back!!” She shouted.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Moments earlier…

Kate had no idea what she was doing. As she lay in the sun, drying herself off from swimming for days on end, she contemplated her next move. After escaping from the circus, she didn’t really have a concrete plan, aside from finding Fishman island. But all she knew about its whereabouts was that it was in the Grand Line and she didn't think she could get there just by swimming.

“Damnit… I didn't think this through.” Kate muttered to herself. First things first though, before Kate could figure out where she was going she needed new clothes. She didn’t really have time to pack when she left ‘home’ so all she had was the clothes on her back and what few beri’s her mates at the circus could pull together. And the clothes she was wearing were looking pretty shabby after having been in saltwater for a couple of days. Kate sighed as she sat up and pulled out her meager funds from her pocket. “I hope this can at least get me something decent.” Kate grumbled as she stood up, shoved the money back in her pocket, and made her way towards the nearby port town.

As she drew nearer, she could feel people’s eyes on her. Her whole body tensed up as she saw people gape and gawk at her as she walked down the street. She would love nothing more than to punch everybody who was looking at her funny but then she would have to beat up the whole town and that would take too long. After navigating down streets and alleys in this bustling port town, she finally found herself at an outdoor market that was selling things from food to trinkets to…

“Clothes!” Kate exclaimed as her eyes scanned over the rakes. “Finally…” Before Kate could start browsing though, something short ran into her legs, almost knocking her over.

“Hey! Watch where you’re going you…” As Kate looked closer though, she could see that it wasn’t a person that ran into her but… a pair of pants…?

“What the fuck?” She yelled as the pants moved on their own and started to run past her.

There was a single hand tugging at one of the legs, but it didn’t seem to do much. A little after them came a blueish looking girl running and a handicapped man without legs who was using his arms as crutches, but could barely keep up. “Stop those pants! Those are mine!”

Kate raised an eyebrow at the strange man with no legs but her attention was quickly captured by the girl next to him. Kate’s eyes widened and her mouth fell open as she took in this beautiful girl in front of her. She was translucent, almost see-through, with a bluish, pinkish tinge to her. She… she had tentacles like Kate, only she had far more coming off the dome on her head and falling down her shoulders and reaching down to the floor. She reminded Kate of the jellyfish she had encountered on her long swim to this island. She was the most gorgeous girl Kate had ever seen and the first fishman she had ever seen as well so it took a bit of time for the words being yelled at her to finally register.

Her head whipped around as she watched the pants try to make a getaway. Those two needed those magical pants yet. More importantly, this wonderous girl needed her help, There was no way those pants would escape her now.

“Get back here!” Kate screamed, making a beeline towards the bright red pants. The poor garment didn't stand a chance as Kate rushed it, and tackled it to the ground, wrestling with the rebellious legs.

Anjellyka watched as this four-armed squid-headed lady tackled the red pants to the ground. She had never seen a person with a squid head before. Then again, she had also never seen someone chop their legs off and have them go running away before. What WAS this place?

The legs were trying to get up again. “Quick! Someone grab those legs before they run off again!”

“Oh no you don’t!” Kate yelled, punching the wiggling legs right in the groin as hard as she could.

The legs toppled over. They were rolling over the floor, writhing in pain. Jayjay quickly moved over. He wrestled his legs to keep them down and attached them to his torso. Thing quickly grabbed a needle and thread and started stitching as fast as he could. It was very chaotic and violent but in the end they managed to get the legs reunited. Slowly and painfully Jayjay got up. In a high pitch voice he said. “I would thank you if I could, but my sore lower parts won’t allow me.”

“Oh shit…” Kate’s eyes widened. “Those were YOUR legs?!” Kate scrambled off the ground and bowed her head in penance. “I am so sorry I had no idea those were yours… oh wait you had no legs to begin with,” Kate smacked her forehead in frustration “Of COURSE those were your legs I’m so STUPID!”

“Don’t worry, I get that more often. At least they did not manage to escape. I would hate it if I needed to find new legs.” he hobbled over to the squid lady, still in pain. “Next time I need new ones I’m getting lady legs.”

Finally gathering herself, Anjellyka walked over to the others. “Wait...is there a difference between lady legs and boy legs?” She wondered.

“Well … when a mama bird and a papa bird love each other … They have some … uhm … “elements” between their legs to … uhm ... so … the papa bird has man parts and the mama bird ...“

Before Jayjay could continue speaking, Anjellyka remembered that she had not yet introduced herself to the squid lady, nor learned her name. “OH!” She remembered, “I don’t think I know your name yet! I’m Anjellyka” She pointed to her companion, “and that’s Jayjay!” She happily introduced.

“And don’t forget Thing!”

“Aw, of course! I’m sorry, Thing!”

Thing jumped up and gave a thumbs up.

“Oh...Uh...Hi, I’m Kate.” She smiled nervously at the Jellyfish and almost reached out to shake her hand but then pulled back do to nerves. “I… Uh… I think your tentacles are really pretty.” As soon as the words escaped her mouth, Kate blushed bright red, embarrassed that she just blurt out how beautiful she found this girl right to her face.

Anjellyka instantly felt her face heat up, her cheeks turning bright blue in response. “Y-you really think they’re pretty?!”

“Y-Yeah! Well, I mean, I think all of you is pretty but I like your tentacles the best.” Kate rubbed the back of her head as she watched Anjellyka blush, making her look even more gorgeous.

“Yes, they are! But we don’t have time for flattery. We sort of didn’t pay for those pants as they started running off. We should probably bring them back before the shop owner notices.”

“Oh, hey, is it okay if I tag along with you guys for a bit.” Kate asked. “I don’t really know where I am… sort of. I’m trying to find my way to Fishman island. You wouldn't happen to know a way to get there?”

“Yes, yes. Come along. We really need to hurry.” He grabbed both ladies and started to walk back. “We’re heading to the Grand Line, so we will probably end up in Fishman Island eventually. You wanna tag along?”

“Awesome! You guys are the best!” Kate grinned from ear to ear. She found people who could take her to fishman island! And they didn’t treat her like freak! This day was turning out better than she could have hoped.

Anjellyka was excited for her to have another companion but one thing was bothering her. “Hey guys…..whats a fishman?”

Limstella

With Scarlet running off shopping rather excitedly Limstella just walked over towards Scarlet direction. There was a ten feet gap between her, and Scarlet mainly because she didn't want to have a nice conversation with her. The reasons behind that were what happened last time, but that was in the past that she did not want to remember. It was not one of her worst days, but it was still terrible.

After looking at the shops while following Scarlet thoughts started to pool into her. The foods especially interested her as she was lost in thought looking at them. It was rather peculiar to see these types of foods that she looked awa- When Limstella snapped her head back she realized Scarlet was out of her view range. Jasper was probably following her so he was out of the question. Sighing she decided to lean against one of the shops practically waiting for someone to talk to her.

Darius withdrew his hand as Alex rejected his offer of a shake. He pursed his lips thoughtfully. Tilting his head slightly to the right, his grin grew wider. "Taken already hm? A damn shame. Seems like you'd be able to give most of the members of my crew a pointer or two in handling fights or their drink." He made sure his eyes never strayed from her face, or the hand she had free on the bar. He reached into his jacket in a jovial manner, pulling out a den den mushi and placing it on the bar next to her.

As he did, his own drink was finished and placed withing arm's reach. He swooped it up and ran a finger around the rim. "Should you ever change your mind, or perhaps you'd just like to have a crew who can add a little music to a party, give me a ring!" He took a sip of his drink, the liquid burning his throat pleasantly and leaving a cinnamon and coffee aftertaste. He let out a soft, "Aaaah." He turned to eye the exit. "Nothing like a stiff drink to wake you up in the morning," he said to himself.

Alex watched Darius as she started to guzzle down her hangover remedy. She looked at the den den mushi and then arched an eyebrow at Darius. She let out a gasp for air as she put her almost empty glass onto the bar top. Alex belched and used her sleve to whipe her lips, partially hiding a grimice as she tasted her drink for a second time; It wasn't the best tasting drink in the bar and she was only drinking it to get over her hangover.

"Unless my crew gets wiped out, there's no way I'm going to leave them," she passionatly replied after regaining her composure. "The best I could do is invite you to join the parties we decide to crash, after running it by the captain of course."

Darius dipped his head in acceptance. "Loyalty is admirable, I hope it doesn't come to that. So for now I suppose simply run it by your Captain. Should be within sailing distance we're always up for a good party!" He smirked just thinking on the parties they'd been a part of so far. Miltos Kingdom was likely still recovering from their hangovers from last week's concert. He did a half bow without taking his eyes from Alex. "Seems this is good bye for now then. May your ship sail soundly and your crew drink deeply!" With that he exited the pub. As he was walking deeper into the islands selection of shops he witnessed a pair of red pants running without a torso, and a torso and two fishwomen chasing them. He blinked for a second in disbelief. "That drink must have been stronger than I thought!"

Alex raised her glass toward the exit, giving Darius a nonverbal farewell. She quickly finished her drink and pocketed the den den mushi. She waited for her hangover to subside before making her way out of the bar.

"Find Captain Jin," she told Jet. Her bird obediently lept off her shoulder and began to search

Norman "Just Came Out To Have A Good Time" Newman

Whatever level of anger it was that Norman was expecting from Marcus, it turns out he'd underestimated it. He had to restrain his instinct to run or stab when Marcus grabbed his collar, gripping the side of the boat instead and trying to lean away from the yelling man. "But..... but but but they tasted like juice," he interjected during the mans rant about being suicidal. He wriggled to lean away from Marcus. "I'm sorry, okay? I'll find a way to help pay you back for them!" Suddenly the angry rant stopped, and Norman held still as Marcus checked his pulse and looked at his eyes.

He was being all doctor-y and Norman wasn't sure he liked it to be quite frank. When Marcus asked if he was poison resistant while taking a step back Norman made his move. In almost a mere second or two he bolted for the mast and began climbing it to reach Hawky. He yelled back at Marcus in rushed tones. "I might be maybe, somewhat, kinda resistant or immune to most any kind of toxin. Due to maybe some sort of secret training I totally didn't do, and you can never prove it!" He shook a fist at Marcus as he hauled himself over into the crow's nest. Hawky bristled at first but upon recognizing Friendest Friend she hopped over to him and nuzzled up. Norman smiled and scratched Hawky under the chin.

Trista February She could hear them talk about her. Sometimes she would entertain them, and pretend to nod off by closing her eyes and laying her head on something. But she never slept. There was no sleep to plague her. The crew was pleasant enough to her- an extra hand to hoist the sails, and an extra sword to haul off potential unnecessary threats were both welcome. She was either of those, and she pulled her weight. It did not, however, stop the tongues from wagging. A dead woman walking, a cursed creature from a foreign land, a devil that did not sleep, an ill omen. As far as she knew, she probably was all of those things. Still, she kept her chapped lips shut, and only spoke, smilingly, to the crew when they approached her directly.

When they finally arrived at Balaggan Port, there was not much ceremony. The small crew, made up of merchants seeking safe passage, a grizzled captain, and a handful of sellswords just like her went on their way. The agreement was that she paid for the passage to a safe port with her sword, and she supposed that was the same agreement made with all the other mercenaries on the ship. From the looks of things, the captain and the merchant were the only actual partners in this entire journey. They were, of course, not headed her direction, and as such, they were quickly set aside to disappear from her memories forever. They were replaced by the next impending mission- to find another ship and crew willing to take her in for the ride. The deal stayed the same- she offered her sword and shield, and her presence, for what it was worth, and they dragged her around the seas in search for the tiger man.

She was only just pretending to be interested in the herbal remedies at one of the storefronts when an unprecedented event occurred upon her. At least, she thought it unprecedented. A wooden staff tumbled over the pavement, and came to an abrupt halt when it rolled over to her boots. This sort of event was not something anyone could have called precedented in any form. Out of curiosity, she plucked the staff up from the ground. It wasn’t very often that staves fell from the sky, she noted, so it was only a reasonable leap of logic to assume that this belonged to someone nearby. Staves were terrible weapons for the battlefield, but served their purpose as walking sticks or means of balance well enough for a civilian crowd. Furthermore, the slender, but nonetheless solid and flexile construct of the staff indicated that it was built for someone of a light frame. A young man, or a lady, possibly. Trista felt a little pride for herself in knowing that experience still counted for something. Her memory was unreliable, but all those years of fighting at his side had burned all that knowledge into her, until it was simply just instinct, just as how walking was.

But now wasn’t the time to be praising herself. The staff belonged to someone else, and she had her own means of protection, scarred as they are. Any more weight on her shoulders would be a burden than help. She lifted her glazed eyes from the staff, scanning the people about her, until she laid them on a lass just ahead of her, seemingly searching for something. The obvious couldn’t be any clearer when she saw how the pale girl with the teal highlights in her snow hair was trying to ‘look’ for her lost item. Trista maintained her silence, watching her for a short moment more before she took deliberate and heavy steps towards her, clearing her throat, a sound not unlike the one her boots made when they grinded against the gravel beneath them.

“Sorry. I, seem to have, picked up, something of yours.” She spoke haltingly, as always. With just one hand, Trista deftly twirled the staff between her fingers and touched the girl’s shoulder lightly with the tip of it, just to indicate where it was.
