Caught in a storm
They will be our hope. It has been over fifty years since the last attack on Ardonia. Time is waiting for the next attack. And yet here we are with a lack of soldiers from the previous attack. Since then there has been a reformation of ideals. The called the last attack "The Reckoning." While Vastra was able remain safe, about a third of Ardonia had fallen. Time has allowed much of Ardonia to rebuild since then but the amount of soldiers for the empire is at an all time low. The Goddess has called for yet another round of chosen with her mark. Wherever the chosen come from. May they rise to the challenge and protect our great nation, for failure would mean the end of Ardonia.

They called it the Mark of Atrea. Reens had grown up and seen it from the church of the goddess, the nuns that always wore robes had the symbol on their uniform. Ofcourse she had known about the mark. She was told when she was young that the goddess felt sympathy towards humanity against the monsters and gave the chosen a mark. Supposedly long ago the mark was meant to give humanity a chance, something to hope for, people to rise up and fight the monsters and demons that roamed the world. At least before the military schools were formed.

And yet she never really imagined herself getting one herself. She thought she'd likely get to live her entire life without working. The Valentine house had more than enough money and as a member of the royal family she wasn't really expected to ever work. When she finally did get the mark her mother tried to fight for her to stay at House Valentine but to no avail. Reens told her mother everything would be fine.
The day of arrival came. Reens wasn't sure what she had expected, a marvel of a endless castle like mansion. If it could even be called a mansion. With the uniform she recieved weeks before on...

It was endless with endless rooms and windows. She was given a card that simply said to head to room A-1. It was almost impossible to find through the mazes of hallways. The architecture was certainly impressive and it seemed to be made in a much older era, perhaps one where the idea of defense and war were much higher priorities. As she sat down in the room she had already begun to notice the other students that were there and many more were arriving.

A man in his thirties stood in the center of the podium at the front of all the seatings. He looked on the younger side of thirties.

"Welcome, My name is Alistair Lareen, I am one of the instructors here at Verdant Military Academy. You're here willingly or unwillingly because you received the mark of the goddess at some point during your life. Perhaps you are a new student or have been attending this academy for a few years now. You are now a soldier and you will refer to yourself as one. I don't care who you were before you came here, you will all refer to me as Commander Lareen. Your status is of no concern to me.

You will receive an allowance every week while you are here. There are a few stores within the Academy for things like food and supplies. You are free to roam the grounds and even roam Vastra but only on your own free-time so if you wish to spend your allowance in Vastra then you are free to do so. However anything that qualifies as contraband will be confiscated.

You will attend classes including: Monster Biology, World History, Weapon Training, Combat Training and more. Based on your performance here you will receive a ranked from S all the way to F at the beginning of every month. The higher your ranking the more allowance you will receive, in addition to some other benefits or even punishments should you perform poorly.

You will notice a pamphet on the desks infront of you which will contain your basic information as well as a map to the Academy. It also contains a badge, you will wear this during your stay, it will simply show what year you are in.
A golden badge with number 1-4 sits on the desks, presumably to refer to year 1-4
I will answer any questions you may have then it will be time for your basic physical tests in which we will head to the training grounds.

Magnolia had awoken an hour before sunrise in anticipation of her first day of her third year, the first thing she had done upon waking was to prepare tea to get the morning started right. As the aroma of the freshly brewed tea started to fill the room she took a sip from her cup, savoring the comforting warmth of the brew.

With her tea in hand, Magnolia moved towards the window in her room, as she admired the view of the sun rising in on this tranquil morning. It was almost as if the world had also stood still in anticipation for the day, all the new folks who would be joining the academy, it stirred the possibilities in Magnolia's head. As she took another sip from her cup she looked to the flowers she had perched on the window sill, and sprinkled them with the watering can she had handily placed nearby.

Setting her tea aside, Magnolia walked towards her neatly organized closet, where she carefully selected the uniform that she would use for the day. She dressed with precision, fastening her buttons and adjusting her collar with practiced ease. She turned to the nearby mirror to admire the way the uniform accentuated her posture and made and enhanced her perceived professionalism and confidence. It was lucky that the uniform was something Magnolia believes that she would usually wear, as it would fit perfectly in her everyday wardrobe were it not for the fact that it was an academy uniform.

With her heart brimming with anticipation, Magnolia set off on her morning, ready to embrace the first day of the academy year with open arms.

After everything was said and done, Magnolia left her room and began to walk towards her first class listed: A-1, she was familiar with the location so she did not hesitate to take the quickest path towards it. She made quick pace as she did not wish to be late on her first day, and in fact, she would much rather prefer to be exceptionally early. Magnolia made sure to arrive in the classroom early enough to get a seat in the front, as they were the best.

She sat down a mere 20 minutes early and began to scan her surroundings as students began filing in, quickly making admittedly rash judgements based on how each new face made their appearances known. She turned to the commander the second he began speaking, making sure to put full focus into listening intently on his every word. Even if it is the 3rd time she has heard this spiel.

Sofia stirred in her sleep as the hours dragged on towards dawn. A nagging feeling of worry and anticipation shook her awake well before she was supposed to be up. After trying to fall back asleep for a good thirty minutes, the young blonde finally let out a defeated sigh and sat up in her bed. Despite having already spent one full year at Verdant Military Academy, it seemed as though the first day never got easier. She stepped off her bed and lazily threw her nightgown on before making her way into the bathroom. All it took was a few splashes of cold water to shake Sofia awake. After that she practically darted back into her room and, started to get dressed while fixing her bed up using her telekinetic abilities. Within an hour, Sofia had stepped out into the still-sleeping halls of the academy and made her way through the building.

It had become a sort of ritual for Sofia to walk the academy grounds before starting her first day. The previous year, she was trying to get acquainted with the school and learn all the important locations. Now, however, she just needed time to herself to collect her thoughts and prepare for the upcoming year. By that point, traversing the immense structure was automatic for Sofia, and she practically walked around on autopilot while her mind raced with countless thoughts. She thought of her home, her parents, her friends, and the mark that forever changed her life. Even after a year, Sofia couldn't quite tell whether the mark was a blessing or a curse, but she wasn't exactly eager to find out just yet. Her walk took her into an open courtyard, where she sat down to close her eyes and meditate for a few minutes.

Two slender, needle-like blades emerged from the girl's index and middle fingers and she absent-mindedly played around with them while engaging in some early morning meditation. She wiped everything around her and saw only herself sitting in an empty void. With a calm smile on her face, she fidgeted away while in this trance-like state. This went on until a blimp appeared in her mind, which was followed by another and then another. Her intense focus on her meditation was starting to bring those around her into her mind and she could feel their presence. Most of them seemed exhausted and groggy, while others seemed excited and moved quickly. It was clear to her that her alone time was over and she needed to head to A-1 immediately.

Sofia's bone blades sunk back into her fingers as she pulled out the card in her uniform's pocket. Once she confirmed the room she had to attend, Sofia quickly made her way across the school. Since she was a bit early, she wasn't surprised to be the among the first there. There were a few students shuffling about and a white-haired girl who Sofia remembered seeing during her first year a bit. She offered the girl a brief smile and a nod before taking her seat towards the front of the room, keeping her eyes on all the others that poured in. Sofia raised an eyebrow when she saw another girl among all the students. Even though this new student hadn't been present before, Sofia felt as though she recognized something about her. Whoever she was, Sofia was sure that she came from an important family, so she took a mental note of her presence.

After some time, every student was called to attention by the man that took his place on the podium. As he began speaking, giving all of them the same introductory speech that they always got, Sofia kept her eyes intently on him. Despite her seemingly undivided attention, her mind lazily played around with her Dancer knives, making them dance and twirl around her fingers harmlessly. This was going to be a long year.

As the alarm loudly rings throughout the room a hand slowly emerges from under the covers to turn it off. Not too soon after he hauls himself out of bed and stretches out a bit. He processes to make his less-than-merry self open the curtains. curtains. After throwing them open he was not fully expecting the sun‘s light to be that strong, making him back up a bit to be that strong making him back up a bit before slowly coming back over to greet the day. As he walked through his room, getting ready for the day. He can’t help but wonder how many new people will show up this time. Leaving his room fully ready, dressed, and ready to go.

Slowly wandering through the halls of the great academy knocking on some of his neighbor's doors. Although this was a usual thing for him because sometimes this was an easy way to mess with people early in the morning. He didn't care if he was being an alarm for others. As he was only thinking about what interesting changes some of the new people might bring. He couldn’t help but get a smile on his face. Once he made it to the classroom with about a minute or two to spare mainly due to him not keeping track of time. Glancing around the room from the doorway, he saw quite a lot of new faces, and some old ones as well. Making his way down to an empty seat and looking through the paperwork in front of him.

Listening to the old commander, give his speech to all the new and old people alike. As told all those listening to the information they needed to know yes for the upcoming school year. Even though he wasn’t new to this Vito, still listen. Knowing that the old commander was not one for too many disturbances during his speeches. But all while it was going on, he still will take the occasional look around to see who looks like they put up a few rounds. all the while, making sure not to stick out too much, at least, while he was in the presence of the commander. Knowing that despite his age and looks that he was strong enough to back up all the things he letting out. Thinking to himself as the old commander's speech was coming. Let’s all have an enjoyable school year.

Jace was conflicted to say the least. He had dreamt of an opportunity like this for his entire life, but his family needed his help to make it by. While his parents assured him that they would be fine he wasn't so sure. His younger sister Isabelle was far too young to understand the true nature of the world, as such she didn't know about poverty or at the very least didn't truly understand it. He would often give his meals to her in spite of it meaning he go somewhat hungry that day. Still a chance to become a knight or a soldier was something he had longed for.

Upon making it to the room he had saw that there were various seats around, he didn't know anyone, being abit of a small town kid that had never stepped into Vastra. He took a seat alone and simply listened to what the instructor had to say.
