Nebula
Mood: On edge
Today was gonna be one of the many that Nebula got to adventure out in the world, scavenging. She was always on the lookout out for food, water, and medicine. This time, however, they made her bring along Lucian..due to last time being a close call for her. It frustrated her to no end. She could handle herself, what'd they think that she was a child?

The girl let out a small sigh, running a hand through her long black hair before pulling it up into a pony tail so that it was out of the way while she searched for things. She had on a huge travelers back pack, hooked on to it was a flashlight just in case she needed one. After all, there wasn't any power around here. Just where the vampires generally stay. Well, most of them. Always protected.

She also had a pocket knife in her pants pocket, you never know what can happen in this wild world. Once her hair was pulled up she looked over at Lucian, "Let's go." She said with a small roll of her eyes. The male pulled his backpack on and replied, "Oh come on, Nebula. It won't be too bad going with me." The only response she gave him was a small sigh, maybe not..but she doubted that.

Finally, they set off. It was mid-day..due to the fact that most vampires didn't go out in the sunlight. It made them weaker. That did mean, however, Nebula didn't get to see much of the night time sky that she loved so much. It proved there was still some beauty in this messed up world.

When they finally reached the street, buildings surrounded them. Most of the buildings had moss and vines growing up them. Some we're falling apart, the bushes, trees, and grass were overgrown. All of this, because, everyone had to hide in fear. Nobody had homes anymore, it was just camps.

Nebula and Lucian finally spotted a huge building, it looked like some sort of all in one store. Food, clothes, everything, "I haven't scouted in there yet..." She said, not waiting for Lucian to say anything back before she began to walk into the dark building. The only light that shined into it was the sunlight that peeked through the boarded up windows.

She pulled her flashlight off her bag and held it in one hand, while she pulled her pocket knife out and held it in the other hand. Better safe then sorry, "Let's split up, scope the place out.." She whispered to the male. He simply nodded and went the opposite way.

'Alone at last..' The girl thought as she continued to walk, at a somewhat slow pace. Trying to not make too much sound as she did. Whole shelves were knocked over, glass was everywhere. It truely looked like a zombie apocalypse, only it wasn't. There were no dead-alive humans trying to eat your brains. Instead it was dead-alive humans trying to suck your blood and make you their blood pet. Nebula always wondered if all vampires were like that though, some of them had to have some sort of humanity...right?

As Nebula walked, she picked up a couple of canned foods she found and shoved them in her back pack. Her knife being held in her mouth when she did. Eventually she came across some stairs. She shined her light up them and slowly began to climb them. The last thing she wanted was to fall right through them. Once at the top she shined her light around, "Holy shit! Jack pot!" It was medicine! A whole bunch of it. She rushed over there, placing her flashlight down on a nearby shelf so it pointed at the area she was trying to get to. Unfortunately, ISt was locked up behind a gated desk. It looked as if people had already tried to get in there.

She began to fumble with the lock, but before she could do much she heard footsteps. The girl crouched down, hiding behind the shelf, quickly turning off her flashlight. Her heart began to beat fast when she realized she heard more then one person walking around. In fact, she heard them talking... She put a hand over her mouth, as if to quite her breathing, 'Way to go Nebula! You just had to split up from Lucian...' As if fate wanted her to die in that moment, her flashlight fell from her hand and hit the ground with a loud 'CLANK'.

It had been a week since Yefrem had been turned into a vampire, four days since his maker or sire as the vampires referred to the one who turned someone, was killed. He essentially was floundering and trying to make sense of the world he had been thrust into only a week ago, with nobody to guide him or protect him from the sudden turn from top of the food chain as a human to prey under those same humans he had once called family and friends who would sooner kill him then pretend they ever knew him in his human life. It was a disconcerting thing to think about, that and the fact that the sun made him weak, not knowing what his abilities and powers even were or if such things existed. So he went through a process of trial and error, a game of cat and mouse, a dance of life and death, stalking the sunset...thriving at night...the day bringing pain and weakness to him. For one whom had grown up in the light, to be suddenly cast within the dark, expected to live within it, to drain the lives of those whom had once been friend, allies, possible love interests...well it was a truly messed up world he'd found himself within. But wasn't the world messed up already with humans fighting monsters that lurked in the shadows and the imagination, a monster come to life and that was very much real, very much a threat, driven by hunger and a thirst that was unquenchable?

He hadn't made a ton of friends within the vampire community yet. He was still new to this life and hoped with time he would adjust without giving up his humanity, however it felt like he was changing. Despite it being mid-afternoon and thereby daylight, he was awake and wandering through some random building with a couple other vampires who were also awake at this hour. Truthfully, he was not sure why they were awake, he was awake because he couldn't sleep and was used to being on a diurnal schedule, not a nocturnal one unlike the vampire society as he understood it, it being safest for them to stalk the night while humans stalked the day.

Walking through the building, Yefrem was quietly conversing with the other two vampires with him, a pair of females named Eden and FInn. He was just asking questions about how things worked though mostly listening to the pair chat about what they did with their time, understanding one of them was curious about humans so it went as a back and forth play...a question about vampires for a question of humans. A strange conversation to be sure in Yefrem's mind. Well, it didn't matter, though he was starting to get somewhat hungry, not having had blood yet except for the little blood to turn him into a vampire by his deceased sire. And exactly how did I end up like this? This question continued to run on a loop like an old monochrome film. Nonetheless, Eden found herself with two vampires who were up during the day for whatever reason. (As for her. . .she’d rather stay awake and alert rather than go to sleep to be murdered in cold blood the next day.) She wouldn’t say that she was close to any of the two vampires in particular right now, but she didn’t see any problem with them. . .at the moment, at the very least. A part of her hoped she wouldn’t have to split up from them with bitter aftertastes though.

Eden observes Yefrem, a newly-turned vampire, while conversing with him. She noticed some subtle changes in him—of course she would; she wouldn’t have made it this far if not in part for her observation. . .or perhaps a slightly more accurate word? Scrutinization. In her time walking on this damndest earth, she learned that noticing even the smallest subtlety can save her life.

Eden suddenly cuts into the ongoing conversation like a katana slicing through the peaceful air that surrounds it. “Hey, are you hungry?” Eden wasn’t completely sure if this is the quote-on-quote right thing to say, but in her defense, she’s never been in a threesome conversation, much less one with two people. The only interaction she’s had a fair amount of experience in was between her and humans, which would go something like, “I’ll kill you!” and her reply would be something along the lines of, “Try me.” In her mind, of course. She had no interest in pissing off hunters; she just wanted to get away from them to stay alive, if nothing else. At this point, after encountering so many hunters, it’s a little hard to process everything Yefrem says about humans—the things about a human’s life rather than a hunter’s life. Not that she knew much about a hunter’s life in particular, but she knew it was different from a normal human’s life in the long run.

So, all in all, this kind of civility was. . .new. Did she like it? It was okay. At the very least, Yefrem and Finn were not terrible people to talk to.

I'm tired, Finn thought as her bleary eyes struggled to remain focused on her surroundings, her feet sluggishly taking one step after another as she followed the other two vampires she had recently met. Unlike Yefrem, who had only turned a week ago, Finn was absolutely exhausted, having spent the past few days wandering the area in search for another soul, and ultimately, a way to quench her thirst. The idea of extracting and drinking a human's blood still horrified her, and yet, the signals her brain was sending to her body left her yearning for it. It was a strange combination of feelings, to say the least; knowing that she had been feeding on the same substance for years without knowing where it actually came from left her feeling both betrayed and incredibly stupid.

Finn clasped a hand over her mouth, tears brimming at her lashes as a silent yawn escaped her lips. She would've been looking for a place to lie down and sleep if it weren't for the fact that she enjoyed the company so much. Yefrem provided her with useful information regarding humans, and even herself. In exchange, she informed him about physical abilities she had thought to be normal, but turned out to be found only among vampires. Eden, however, had remained silent for the most part. That is, until she asked a question Finn had secretly been waiting for.

"Good to know I'm not the only one," she said quietly, drying her damp eyes. Again, the thought of assaulting and feeding on a being that looked so very much like her was disturbing, but she did not plan on letting her feelings show. If anything, she wanted to appear confident, especially among a small group of strangers. Additionally, humans were far from harmless, as Finn had learned the hard way not too long ago.
All the more reason to be careful.

"What about you?" She asked the red-haired vampire, hoping that he felt the same. Hunting in a group of three would certainly be both safer and more effective, and perhaps it would also keep Finn from hesitating once the time comes.

Yefrem had been silent for some time until a sudden question posed to him caused him to turn his head towards Eden as she asked him if he was hungry. To this, he gave her a hard look but nodded in the affirmative, his stomach rumbling as if to confirm it. He had tried eating human food but it hadn't quenched the burning desire for crimson liquid flowing hot down his throat or his craving for blood. Nevertheless, the fact that he could still eat regular food and keep some semblance of humanity within him was an important facet of his new life and something he was glad wouldn't change, even if it didn't give him the same fullness as before when he'd been a human. Though there had, of course, been some vampires who existed solely on the rich metallic iron and tried to get the new vampire to subsist solely on the blood and forsake all human ties and notions, to become nothing but a ravenous and mindless beast of the night. He resisted as much as he could but with no blood in his system or real nourishment coming in, he was growing weaker by the day.

Before he could reply, Finn responded as well, mentioning something about not being the only one being hungry. She then asked him the same question, if he was hungry and he turned his head towards Finn before turning back towards Eden...suddenly distracted by something within the darkness. Raising a hand to quell the quiet murmuring, the newly turned vampire looked around within the darkness, the only light coming from the boarded up windows that seeped in through the cracks and cast shadows within the building, the rest within comfortable darkness and ever encompassing silence as if death had taken hold. In his eyes, he had already died by being turned into a vampire, he had no wish to die a second time, but that was what some had said would happen if he didn't start drinking blood. "I thought I heard something," said Yefrem, looking around the darkness, his vampire heightened senses beginning to dull with the lack of blood. "But yes...I haven't had any human blood yet and no blood at all since my maker turned me to make me into one of you." He would need their guidance and expertise in how to hunt a human or even an animal though his maker had said animals didn't give as much satisfaction or sate the thirst as much as human blood. It was one thing that stuck with him, might always stick with him. Hunting in a...well he didn't know what a group of hunting vampires were...would provide beneficial for him at least, possibly for all three. K kurishiri SkyChild SkyChild

Ren Kobayashi

Mood

Becoming increasingly wary.
⌲ ⌲ ⌲
Scouting was one of the most frustrating things Ren had ever done in his life. The whole process would take hours at a time, forcing him to travel long distances during the day and then having to drag the spoils back to camp before the sun could set. There was also the increased element of danger to their task- one could never know when a vampire would appear and instigate a fight. He had been an unknowing victim to ambushes in the past while out patrolling, barely managing to get away before he could be surrounded.

Another negative aspect was some supplies were in high demand, meaning that some scouting missions were completely useless. Ren couldn’t help but to feel it was one of those days; he had already searched two stores with the slim hope of finding disinfectant with no success. Most medical supplies were already taken, leaving the shelves woefully bare.

Ren had entered the last store he had time to search twenty minutes beforehand, creeping along the edges of the aisles before he had maneuvered his way closer to the pharmacy. His companion- an amazonian behemoth of a woman by the name of Devin- had been in step with him the whole way, her quiet banter providing a sort of entertainment while they worked.

“So…what do ‘ya bet?” Devin hummed as they headed down a toy aisle, the smiling faces of plushed animals and dolls staring down at them as they passed. Ren kept his gaze trained ahead of him, although he made a non-committal noise. The older woman, bearing a shotgun that was meant for intimidation rather than confrontation, quietly huffed, adjusting her grip. “Come on- humor me.”

Ren glanced her way for a second, the tell-tale curl of his lips reflected in the dim light of the torch. “I bet you my copy of ‘The Catcher in the Rye’.”

A groan was heard after he spoke. Devin sent him an unamused grimace, her head shake causing her dreads to sway from the motion. Ren couldn’t hide his grin- he had inherited his interest in reading from his mentor, although few people in their group held the same affinity for reading as he did.

“You’re such a-”

The sound of something clattering automatically had the two on alert, swiveling back towards the aisle they had just passed. Ren shifted his flashlight to shine along the worn tiles, noting how Devin was clutching the handle of her gun even tighter. There wasn’t much to be seen- several discarded boxes laid haphazardly on their side, empty and rotting. His attention turned to the opposite end of the aisle, taking note of the weak beams of a flashlight facing their direction. Unnerved, Ren lifted his torch higher, the dim light casting shadows along the floor.

“What do ‘ya think is here?” Devin whispered at his side, her brown eyes wavering as she looked into the darkness with concern. “Could it be one of those things?”

Ren shook his head, crouching low to grasp a handle that had been sticking out from the cover of his boot. His grip tightened as he yanked the knife out of its makeshift sheath, relieved to feel the cool weight pressed into his palm. It was a small reassurance that he had a means of defending himself, even if it was a toothpick in comparison to the canines on some vampires.

Without answering, Ren took a measured step into the aisle and paused, his hand held out in a quiet signal to keep the older woman rooted to the spot. No other noise was heard; no scuffle or thud reaching his ears. Breathing quietly through his nose, he took another step into the aisle. His gaze shifted, feeling on edge.

"Ren..." Devin murmured, her voice strained, "We should go scout somewhere else. This ain't worth it."

Straightening up from the crouch he had settled in, Ren swiveled to face his companion. "We can't have it getting out that humans have been frequenting the area. It would be disastrous for all of us- including your daughter, Dev."

Devin's expression shifted at the mention of her child, her once wary expression shifting into fierceness. Her eyes flickered back towards the aisle, before settling back on him. With a nod of approval, Dev lifted the shotgun in her hands and trained the barrel ahead of her. The two fell into step together, their steps deliberately silent. Ren shifted his flashlight once more, looking into the spaces of the shelves where someone could possibly fit themselves into. He was wary of what they could be walking into, although the situation gave them little choice but to investigate the cause of the noise.

Eden internally sighs. Frankly, she didn't necessarily revel in the idea of going as a group to hunt, but she supposed it did have its good points. At least her back would be watched by others. That, and she was painfully aware of the fact that Yefrem was still not completely adapted to being a vampire. "Don't give me that hard look. It's irritating. . .," she mutters, "Anyway, that aside, let's go together then. If you want to survive in this world, you'd better be able to do stuff that's outside your comfort zones, or get yourself in one damn hell of an experience."

She spoke this from experience. There was also a time she felt queasy at the mere sight of blood, regardless of whose blood it is—human, animal, or vampire, and it took her at least several weeks of feeding off of humans to actually get used to it. . .Eden would never admit this though, nor did she really feel the need to. She didn't need pity from vampires who still couldn't feed on blood. Eden focused her senses, as she knew Yefrem, given the fact that he hadn't had any human blood, probably couldn't use heightened senses very well at the moment, and Finn seemed rather lethargic. . .not that she could blame her. Eden makes use of her peripheral vision while looking around for a human, throwing away any lingering guilt or sympathy. Some time passes excruciatingly slowly, possibly because of the silence, before she finally finds a human. By their attire, they didn't seem to be a part of the hunters, so she needn't worry about them knowing deadly techniques to kill vampires, in all likelihood.

She jerks her head over, gesturing towards the human. "Well? Is that human fine? Or do you feel queasy to the stomach still and want animal blood instead?" Or no blood at all? Eden said this in a somewhat strained voice and an unreadable expression (while managing to restrain herself from saying the last part). She didn't like the taste of animal blood, personally speaking: even her own blood probably tastes better than an animal's, but who was she to actually complain? She's been through probably around ten times worse than having bad-tasting blood.

Yefrem rolled his eyes as Eden scolded him for giving her a hard look before commenting on the fact that he would more or less be dead if he wanted to survive in the world and be able to do stuff outside his comfort zone. Though it may have been said also to Finn though he thought it was more directed towards him than the other female of the trio. The woman fell silent then as he stared around him at the darkness of the shop, senses pretty much resembling what they had when he was a human. Little did he know, that to a vampire, the senses of a human were as if they were blind and deaf, something he would come to find in time should he live long enough. "I can adapt," Yefrem said before he fell silent and allowed Eden to do her vampire...whatever thing vampires did when they were trying to locate someone.

Yefrem followed Eden's gaze towards a human that was pointed out to him who was apparently playing hide n seek...or...hiding out of necessity or just for kicks...the vampire wasn't entirely sure. Yefrem shrugged as he looked at the human and then back to Eden. "Works for me," he said. The mention of animal blood caused him to shake his negatively. "If for some reason that human runs...but I suppose I should try human blood eventually." At least hunting with two other vampires and it seemed experienced vampires at that would help protect him, unless they ran and chose to save their own hides if the human fought back, though from this angle, it didn't appear the human had a weapon at all. He could be wrong. @kurishi SkyChild SkyChild

"Turned me to make me into one of you..."
Yefrem's words echoed through her mind and stirred it up like a mixer. She wasn't sure what it was that she heard in his voice, but it caused her to start thinking nonetheless. She figured a human would not be too happy about turning into... Something that feeds off his own kind, or what was previously their own kind. Traces of guilt panged at her heart as she realized that perhaps, asking a recently turned vampire if he's hungry for human blood isn't such a good idea.

Finn remained silent during the other two's conversation, observing the human Eden had spotted. As far as she could tell, the human wasn't carrying any conspicuous weapons, but the situation was still far from safe; considering that they could be keeping a handgun or even just a knife hidden below their shirt or attached to a belt, they still posed a possible threat. They would have to subdue the human quickly, but how does one go about doing that?

Finn took a deep breath, attempting to shake herself out of the fatigued state she had been in for the past few hours. Yefrem had to get out of his comfort zone, and ironically, so did Finn. But certainly, feeding directly off a human will be easier after the first time, right? Besides, despite her absolute lack of first-hand experience, she did know a variety of different tricks and techniques that could turn out to be useful should things go awry in a situation like this.
Who would have thought?

"If we do this right, that human won't have a chance to run." She whispered, unable to hide the nervous, shaky undertone in her feeble voice as her eyes flicked back and forth between the human and the other two. "How about one of us sneaks up on that one while the other two keep an eye out for any other humans?" She added, her focus now laying on Eden as she hoped that she, probably the most experienced one among the three, would be the one to approach the human.

Nebula
Mood: Worried
When Nebula realized they were still there the girl glanced around, squinting into the darkness that was the opposite way. Her flash light had turned back on when it fell. It was pointing in the direction she heard them coming from. It was time to think fast, but all she could really think about was how hard her heart was beating. She was crouched down in the isle, her eyes steadily watching in their direction. She could see their shadows due to the light that her flashlight was causing.

Their shadows looked like dark and looming shadow creatures stretching across the floor. It shook Nebula to her core, but when she heard one ask if then other thought she was 'one of them' she instantly knew she was up against her own kind. Should she come out and show herself? Or would they be savages?

After thinking to herself for a split moment she quickly grabbed her flash light and pointed it in the direction they would be coming down, "I mean you no harm." She said, her voice catching a bit in the throat. She was pretty spooked, no denying that. Nebula stood slowly, knife in hand and ready to attack if needed.

Of course she wasn't just going to let them come up on her so she flicked her flashlight off and began to walk backwards a bit till she reached the end of the isle she was on. Then she began to walk quietly on the other side of it, trying to get the turn around on them. Small bits of glass broke under her shoes as she walked. Once she was back where they had started she flicked her flashlight back on, "Lower your gun..." She said as she bent down her free hand out while she placed her knife on the ground in front of her and stood up, to show she meant no harm. Her hands were trembling a bit, as she knew some humans could be quite twisted.

She knew you couldn't bring a knife to a gun fight, so unfortunately there was no way to win this one. Nebula didn't want to take any chance of getting shot by these people. Not to mention, her blood would attract vampires to this place due to their hightened senses...and she wasn't too sure she wanted that to happen. They'd either finisher her off or turn her and she knew she wasn't ready to die....and she also knew she didn't want to drink blood to solve her hunger, "I'm just here looking for supplies, just as you are...I'm assuming." Her eyes eyes flickered from the woman to the man. She studied their features, just so she can warn her other camp mates about the other humans nearby.

(At work, sorry bout the low key not too good post. I'm off tomorrow so I'll be able to post way better tonight/tomorrow :) I'm also on my phone atm)

Yefrem turned his head to look at Finn this time as she took a breath and spoke, making out a plan of one of them going to sneak up on the human while the others would stand lookout. Well, Yefrem doubted he would be able to sneak up on anybody and Finn didn't seem to know what to do so that left Eden as the more experienced of the trio to do the job. He nodded to show he agreed with Finn's makeshift plan on how to corner the human. Surely with three vampires feeding off the human, she would be dead before the moon rose? Yefrem shook his head. "Sounds fine," he said. "I can stand watch...probably wouldn't be good at sneaking up on somebody."

However, it seemed their plan wouldn't go well for he suddenly heard something moving within the shadows and frowned visibly, probably only noticed by the two vampire females on either side of him. Human males his age and probably younger might call him lucky but truthfully they both made him somewhat uneasy, however it was the only way he could get his questions answered as not many within the vampire community were tolerant of him asking questions on their lifestyle and habits, expecting him to know everything which was of course impossible. Turning his head, Yefrem focused instead on the sudden blink of a light piercing the darkness, going on and off. "Do you see that blink of light? It might be a flashlight," he said, pointing out the general direction of the light from what he could see while remaining within the shadows for safety. K kurishiri SkyChild SkyChild

Although it was faint, Eden let a ghost of a smile play on her lips. Yefrem's words had a certain charm to him, she had to admit. She didn't know if the other two would notice her little smile though; she quickly shifted back to an unreadable, but still a little bit softer than before of an expression right afterwards. "Okay, that's nice to know."

She then turned her attention to Finn, who had proposed the idea of one approaching the human while the other two look out for other humans. Eden nods at the idea. It was straightforward, but it seemed to be the best way going about doing this. Before she could say anything though, she noticed a flash of light as Yefrem commented on that. Eden cursed under her breath, her expression growing more severe. "Geez, those annoying hunters. . ." She clicks her tongue. "If that happens though. . ." Eden trails off, averting her eyes. If that happens though, I'll try to protect you. That only had a place in her thoughts; never would she admit this out in the open. Instead, she shakes her head. "You know what? Nevermind."

Eden then put herself to thought, trying to think quickly on a place. Then, her face lit up with a place in mind—a place where she doubted even humans found because of how hidden it happened to be. "I have somewhere in mind where we can hide for now, not far from here. I doubt hunters would find us there. I don't think it's safe here any longer. You think you could ignore hunger and tiredness and whatever for the next few minutes?" Eden whispered this as softly as she could, just loud enough so that only Finn and Yefrem could hear. Just then, a sudden realization struck her: why is she helping the two of them so much anyway? Eden bites her lip. Well, whatever. It'd just be shameful to have them die in such a dumb way. Plus, as she thought before, the two weren't terrible talking companions, even as she wasn't the most social butterfly.

scorpiodragon scorpiodragon

Yefrem kept his gaze on the flickering light, straining to hear the sounds of movement but couldn't hear anything. Eden clicked her tongue as she spoke about hunters and he turned to look at her now, confusion written all over his face but the way her expression changed, they must not be good news for vampires. He turned back to the flickering light, the only thought being that it was a flashlight and knowing they could hurt when getting smacked with one from experience. He grimaced at the memory, making no signs that he had heard Eden's continued conversation with herself and Finn remaining relatively silent...then again the other female sounded utterly tired.

He was hungry but Eden suggested they move somewhere else and that it wasn't safe. Yefrem found himself disappointed strangely that they wouldn't be staying. But he didn't want to find out what these hunters were either and so, when asked if he could ignore his hunger for a while longer, he nodded. "Yes," he said quietly. He grasped Finn's hand as she seemed like she wouldn't move without help. "Ready," he said. Maybe he would end up taking a nap. It might cause his hunger to dissipate until he woke up. K kurishiri SkyChild SkyChild

Nodding, Eden led the way, making sure to keep at a pace where Yefrem, who was helping Finn, was still within her sight. On the way, they ran into that human, and Eden urged to the human, "You should come with us. We're going to our secret base, and the more people, the better!" Eden smiles warmly, and the human seemed to take it to heart, because her expression softened slightly when Eden showed her what seemed to be a genuine smile. She must be quite the sheltered human if she can believe those words so easily.

Chances are the flashlight-bearer would be too busy patrolling or finding something in the inside to look outside at what looks like just several humans going about doing their own thing. Eden leads the group to an old, evidently abandoned, but not unusable treehouse. Quite the opposite: it was actually fairly sturdy.

She first found this treehouse completely by accident. She had only found it after the virus hit, so she didn't know if the owners were alive or dead, human or vampire. It was so well hidden, not many people would be able to find it. Eden urged Yefrem and the human to come up, helping on pulling Finn up in the process. Once they were all in the treehouse, Eden approached the human girl, who seemed exhausted from running. At first, it was silent, but Eden spoke up first. "So, why were you out there in the open like that? Just wondering."

The girl remained silent before she spoke. "I don't know where my parents are. They said they'd come by noon, but it was getting to be too long of a wait, so I was trying to look for them. . .which is probably useless. In this era, if your parents don't come back, only bad things could've happened to them." Eden didn't need to ask the girl for clarification. She didn't think the girl was comfortable with it. Was she ever? Her parents are gone, and without anybody to support you, it's difficult. It's either suffering through and living or gaining peace by dying.

Eden closes her eyes for a prolonged moment before opening them again. ". . .Sorry to hear that, you must be in a lot of pain right now." Eden's eyes start to harden slightly. "Go to sleep for now. I'm sure when you wake up again, you'll be in a better place." Eden didn't give the human a chance to speak before she karate-chops her neck, specifically the carotid artery, rendering her unconscious but not dead. . .yet. Eden then looks at Yefrem and Finn, gesturing towards the human. "Now or never," she murmurs.

Yefrem pulled Finn along behind him as they followed Eden to this hidden and abandoned out of the way secret place which Eden apparently knew of. Yefrem didn't ask questions, he just made sure Finn kept up and could stumble along. Along the way they met a human who Eden began speaking to and got to go with them. When they arrived at the secret hidden place, Yefrem discovered it was a treehouse. Yefrem was surprised, the place was covered in vines yet seemed sound from outside appearance, at least he didn't see any sagging boards or damaged bark on the tree. He headed up the ladder, one rung at a time and when he emerged he found a large one room with a couple windows. It was nice enough to walk around in and roomie enough to stretch out in and stand in, even for a tall person. He then turned to help the girl up, glad the floorboards were sound and he wouldn't risk falling through the tree and getting cut on the branches or injuring himself by hitting the ground. He then helped Finn up the ladder and then over to a corner where he helped her sit down and rest.

Yefrem turned to Eden as she spoke to the girl who mentioned not knowing where her parents were and having gone looking for them as being the reason she was out. Foolish human, he thought to himself. He shook his head in disappointment as he listened to the conversation, the girl would pay for it now...if he could manage to bring himself to feed off of the girl and assuming, so he supposed, Finn would wake enough to also feed. He couldn't say the same for Eden though, it was hard to make her thoughts out. When she suddenly sent the human into unconsciousness by karate chopping into the girl's artery, knocking her to the floor and then speaking to Yefrem and Finn about feeding off the girl, he was surprised but hunger guided him as well as some undeveloped primal instincts and strode towards her before lifting up a wrist and biting into it, blood welling up in his mouth which made him choke and cough on, spitting some of it out onto the girl before biting into the same spot and beginning to lap up the blood with his tongue, using his teeth to cut into her flesh.

Ren Kobayashi

Mood

Becoming increasingly wary.
⌲ ⌲ ⌲
A sudden shift from the darkness made Ren tense, his hand clasping the handle of his blade in a white-knuckled grip. The stray flashlight was lifted, the faint light illuminating a pale face and a widened pair of brown eyes. Devin was the first one to falter, wavering in between taking another step down the aisle. Ren, on the other hand, did not waver. He narrowed his eyes, lifting his torch to shine the light directly into the person’s face.

The first thing he noticed was the woman's black hair, the strands reflecting back where the shine of his flashlight hit. It took him a second to register that their unexpected scavenger was a girl who looked to be around his age. His grip on his dagger lessened, although he didn’t ease up from the tensed position he held. A moment of silence passed between them all, the little group of two calculating the risks for the situation they had unknowingly walked into. There was a flicker of sound outside, although it eventually faded out into the same silence that had shrouded them before.

Ren was caught off guard when the woman spoke, her first words making two sets of eyebrows raise. Devin and Ren shared a brief glance before returning their attention to the woman several feet away. It didn't help the situation when the girl suddenly clicked her flashlight off, plunging her end of the aisle into darkness. Ren kept his flashlight held high, his eyes sweeping about the small area for any sudden movements in the dark. The crunching of glass made the hair on the back of his neck stand on end, marigold eyes swiveling in the direction of the noise. It wasn't a moment later that the other flashlight flickered on, at the opposite end of the aisle. Devin swiveled on her feet, gripping the gun tightly in her dark hands. Ren turned a moment later, his expression cold.

He didn't like the notion of being toyed with. The girl was doing herself no favors by creeping around in the dark, leaving them to wonder exactly what her motives may be. However, he could see the way her eyes darted between them, undeniably wary. Sighing through his nose, Ren bent to slip his blade into the sheath in his boot. He stood, holding up his hands in a placating manner.

“Alright, let’s chill out then.” He murmured, ignoring the stern look Devin sent his way. "I'm sure this is just a big misunderstanding, anyways."

Devin wavered, her brown eyes sweeping between the two younger people. With hesitation, she brought the handgun over her head, allowing the weapon to settle in its makeshift holster. Nodding his head, Ren turned to the other woman. He was able to catch her words, opening his mouth to speak before Devin cut in.

"It ain't any of your business what we're doing or what we're looking for. You just go your own way and we can go ours."

Her gruff tone made Ren glance up to regard her expression, noticing just how closed off she seemed. He could hardly fault her, however- situations like these were always risky, no matter who the other party was.
