Roy

[ Intensive care - Eximius Hospital ]

Roy was all strapped up. Tests were constantly being ran, but regardless of what the doctors attempted to do, the champion would not wake up. Such was always the result of using his powers to a high extent, but it did not go without saying that if the champion had been more partial to using line in the past, that this would not have been the end result. It was not hard to see that many believed Roy was batshit insane for deciding to put his body through constant hardships. For the sake of his sanity, Roy believed it was all worth it.

His breathing was practically nonexistent, and it kept in the same position for quite some time. His subconscious was not trapped. Rather, it was relaying a couple of key moments from his past - the most prominent of which occurred when he was just seven years old. Both of his parents and himself lived in a one-room apartment. With one bed in the living room, and a kitchen the size of a motel bathroom. In the corner of the room was his bed - a pile of sweatshirts and garbage bags piled up on one another. His parents did the best they did to provide, given no education or

The champion was always much smaller than his peers or the average. One night, he remembered his mother and he were sharing a can of beans for dinner alongside meaningful conversation. When she was finished explaining the situation of his physicality, his mother than explained that they would probably never have the money to get him the steroids or medicines he needed for growth. The one thing Roy had to say to his mother regarding this, was that it didn't matter. So long as he kept true to who he was as a person, his appearance mattered less. This was further enforced when his face became scarred.

Meanwhile, Anton was sitting in a chair opposite of the two stretchers. Of course, Iris was in one and Roy was in the other. He was always around when it came to stuff pertaining to hunts, alongside health issues. At first, it was a mandatory contractual issue. If Roy payed the man, he had to do what he could to ensure they were on the right track. After a while, Roy grew to look at the man like a father. He, in turn, looked at the two like his own children. He was worried, but well aware of the outcomes. Various droids and doctors flooded through with champions who also needed help. Same story, different hunt.

A couple of bandages in hand, Anton walked over to Roy's stretcher. Placing them on the mattress beside his body, he removed and then replaced the dirty, slightly peeling-off ones belonging to the champion's face. Then he walked over to Iris. The girl had been strapped to a board which took up a majority of the stretcher. It was intended to keep her body straight, including her neck. Anton made sure her vitals were fine, checking through the options of the machinery which was connected to her. While that was happening, Roy woke up.

He had no idea how much time had passed, but his body was almost completely painless. At first he wondered if he had finally did himself in, until he realized he was lying in the intensive care unit of the hospital. Almost immediately, a feeling of dread overcame him. Frantically looking about, the young man would sit up on his stretcher. Noticing Iris had been lying right next to him, along with Anton taking care of him, instantly took that anxiety away.

It took a majority of his strength to remove the various machinery connected to him, including the IV. The machines behind his stretcher began making various panicked noises, but Roy didn't care at all. The dazed and partially-hallucinating champion got to his feet, finding the numbness flowing through his body rather convenient. One of the nurses in the area attempted to get close to Roy in order to force him back onto the bed, but the champion simply shoved one of his hands into her face and pushed her off. Anton just watched as the champion approached Iris' stretcher, eventually moving around to the same end.

A group of nurses alongside a lone doctor was rapidly approaching. Anton moved to approach them at the same time that Roy crawled onto Iris' stretcher. He had the smallest piece of mattress available beside the flat board she was lying on, so he made sure to use most of the space by laying on his side. Anton had stopped the crew with an outstretched hand, shaking his head and not allowing the band of medical care providers to continue. This was not a normal occurrence, but Anton knew Roy would not take likely to anyone bothering him, given his behavior.

The coach walked to Roy's stretcher, and stopped the machine's various noises. Roy watched the tiger striping on Iris' face dance and wiggle, before quickly succumbing to unconsciousness once more.

Caleb "The Animal" Giles

Eximius Hospital - Private room

Caleb woke up and immedately darted into an upright position on a bed in the infirmary. A few members of his team were around him as he was shirtless and had a couple stitches across his body but felt fine otherwise. One of his team members noticed he was awake and moved over to him. "How're you doing?" Caleb was still in a state of shock as he looked around. "Good, I don't feel any pain at the moment." The member of his team looked at him suspiciously clearly expecting to hear much worse than 'good' given his his record. "Well you just have some spots stitched up here and there but surprisingly you weren't hurt badly this time. Quite unusual for you, do you remember what happened?" Caleb tried to remember and gave it his damnedest but couldn't remember much aside from snapping the neck a Drake. "No, anything major that I need to know?" His team member shook their head. "Well you do have a-" Caleb cut him off completely unaware of how rude it had been. "Like everytime. Can I just stand up now?"

"Well you really aren't too injured so I don't see why not but there is something I need to-" Although he asked the question Caleb hadn't even waited to hear their response before moving to stand up. He was almost about to stretch when he remembered the stitches, he instead sighed and put his hands behind his head. It was always nice directly after a hunt he was the only one in control and he always appreciated full control of himself. This was only one of the times where Caleb could actually be seen smiling as he would just enjoy being himself again, that is until he felt something brush against his leg. He looked around puzzled not seeing anything nearby he shrugged it off as he felt something brush against his leg again. This time he turn around quickly trying to catch whatever it was only to have the same feeling a third time. "What the hell is it!?" It only took a moment before he finally saw what it was, his eyes widened both angry and horrified.

"Sorry Caleb, but this time instead of a simple color change to your eye or something useful like claws you had kept-" Caleb had quickly interrupted his team member. "No. Nope. Nu-uh this isn't happening, its a dream." His team member looked confused at Caleb's rejection of the situation. "You can't deny it, it is there." Caleb shook his head and crossed his arms. "Nope, it isn't there its just a joke. Take it off now." His team member proceeded to cover his face in his hands and mutter something that Caleb couldn't make out. "It isn't a joke. It is really there." Caleb turned around to grab it and felt a tug. It was true, Caleb sat back down on the bed and wanted to curl up into ball before muttering one last question. "Of all things, why the tail?"

Iris "Scarlet"

Eximius Hospital - Intensive care

Iris was in rough shape to say the least, and odd situation since normally both champions were able to get back on their own. Exhausted and battered they would walk back into Arcadia it was part of why they were popular among their fans, they were stubborn and resilient despite both being fairly lanky and thin. Iris alone had surprised quite a few people in her ability to take down some of the higher tier monsters.

Her gear and suit had been traded for a hospital gown and bandages. The female champion was probably the most still she'd ever been laying strapped down on the stretcher. A large part of it was simply precaution. The healing Roy had done once they were safely back in the gate had healed the more life threatening injuries. The wounds were the barbs had sliced into were smaller cuts that needed minor stitching bandages were wrapped around her head, keeping gauze over the additional stitches needed for her head wound. Thankfully there were no fractures and a mild concussions that accompanied the wound.

Her IV was hooked up to normal saline keeping her hydrated as another machine was hooked up to the ports where Nectar was normally injected filtering out and detoxing her blood. The large amount of Nectar left in her system after the fight would do more harm than good to her already fragile mind and body.

The X-ray showed the worst of her wounds. Three fractured ribs and a several displaced vertebra. Thankfully the displacement hadn't caused and nerve damage so realigning the bones were much easier. A brace supported the entirety of her spine keeping her spine completely still, it was also chilled to keep down any swelling. The brace wrapped around her upper torso protecting the injured ribs from further injury. She wouldn't be able to move much once she stayed away which would not make her very happy. Thankfully the doctors projected she would be able to move again after a full days rest however she would need to take it easy. That would be the harder part since the woman rarely stopped moving.

JASON

Eximus hospital: Detox

Jason headed to detox after leaving the hunt, his body still trembling from the amount of Nectar in his system. He indulged the press with a few interviews, signed a few autographs for the massive mob that had gathered for him before excusing himself, feeling the nausea building deep in his gut.

He made it to the detox chambers before he ended up vomiting, only feeling slightly better when he was finished. He shook his head and quickly took a seat as the doctors hooked him up to the various machines. Jason always hated the detox machines, but it was worth it in the end. For now he tried to distract himself, his thoughts going back to the hunt. He had done really well, though he almost wished he could have claimed that Bezin as his kill. Still, Roy had earned it, and he was probably paying the price right now for letting his emotions get the better of him.

Katherine "Kat" Ariat

Eximus Hospital (Intensive Care)

The small girl's eyelids twitched and fluttered open slowly. Her vision was still somewhat blurred but it pulled through quickly. Green eyes lazily scanned the room, with half open bedroom eyes. It took her minute to come back and realize where she was. She gasped and shot straight up, sitting in the hospital bed. She attempted to get up but was restrained by tubes and and needles in her body. She looked down at them,"Damn..." She cursed under breath.

A woman with short straight hair and glasses walked in,"You woke up surprisingly early...." Her serious tone spoke with skepticism. Her blank and boring eyes blinked every now and then.

Kat looked at her, spooked by the sudden voice. She calmed as she recognized the familiar face, it was just the woman that ran Kat's support team. "Oh its just you Kascey..." Kat sighed in relief.

Kascey crossed her arms and leaned against the threahold of the door,"How are you feeling kiddo?" Kascey always looked uninterested, she rarely showed emotion, but Kat knew she was genuinely asking.

Kat gave a single quick nod in response. Kascey unfolded her arms and walked to Kat to sit at the foot of her bed. She gently layed a hand on her left leg that was under the sheets of the hospital bed,"You did good kid," she allowed a very small smile to crack and slip through but she almost instantly washed it away. Kat smiled at her with a soft look, a smile from Kascey was a rare sight, and being away from home, Kascey was seen as a mother figure. It meant a lot to the Shadowcat that someone was proud of her. Kascey stood up, face blank again,"Well ill see you around, your suit got minor damages and i have to make sure the idiots arent screwing up on patching it up...." She spat out with annoyance when thinking about the rest of the supporting crew. She turned and headed for the door.

Katherine giggled,"That sounds like a good idea, thanks for stopping b--"

"Oh yea!"

"Hm?" Kat tilted her head.

"This fell out of your stretcher while they were bringing you in here." Kascey reached into the pocket of the lab coat she wore and tossed a small object to the bed riddened girl.

Kat caught it and observed. It was the acid bear's tooth,"Oh!..Than--" she looked up to Kascey but the older woman was already gone. Kat shrugged and looked down at it with a smile. Until she noticed her hands... Her palms were wrapped in bandages,"What the hell?" She turned her hands back and forth to look at the back and at the palm. A sudden memory of all the times she came into physical contact with the acidic beast triggered the conclusion that her hands mustve been burned by it.

She layed back into the pillows and stared out the window. She rested her eyes a little before realizing she had a partner. "Sun!" She sat up again. She turned her body and let her legs dangle off the bed. The petite girl scooted to the edge and her bare feet touched the cold hospital floor. She stood up and wobbled before falling onto the floor,"Dammit...." Her legs were still weak. However, Kat had a stubborn nature, she wasnt going to let this be a problem. She forced her body up again. She looked down at herself and noticed she was wearing the hospital gowns. She gasped and looked behind her to see if anything was showing. Luckily, because of her small structure, the hospital gown was tied tightly and covered everything. She lifted the bottom part of the gown up above her hip and could see her under clothing. She let go and moved her hands to her chest, feeling for any fabric that wasnt the hospital clothing. She sighed,'At least im not entirely naked,' she giggled to herself. She grabbed a hold of the IV drip and tugged it along with her as she walked out of the room. She walked out into the hallway and picked a direction to follow and walk up,"Sun!" She called out. Hoping he made it to the hospital. Last time she remembered he wasnt in good shape himself,"Sun!" She called out again, looking into the open room doors to see if she saw him. She stubbled every now and then on her walk but she pushed forward.

Some nurses came out of the rooms to see who was the cause of the yelling. When they noticed who it was they rushed to her aid,"You need to go back to your room Ms. Ariat." They tried to guide her. Kat pulled her arm away from one of them bittterly,"No! I can do what i want."

"You havent recuperated enough! Your body needs rest." They tried to grab onto her wrists.

"No!" She pouted childishly. Annoyed with all the touching and grabbing, she made herself intangible,"Ha-ha!" She mocked them,"Cant touch me now."

The nurses fumbled as they seemed to be grabbing nothing but air.

Kat laughed in amusement. However the nurses were right. Her body wasnt ready. She couldnt keep up her bodily ability and she collapsed once more, but still conscience. " ugh!" She grunted in frustration. The nurses pulled her up and walked her back to her room. "I will not be silenced!" She yelled before going back to her room.

Intensive Care

Light hues opened to Iris. It seemed nothing had changed at all since he took a nap beside the young woman, including her state of consciousness. Tired eyes noticed that the markings on her face had not stopped moving, but had slowed considerably. He was becoming normal again, slowly. Roy sat up on the stretcher, looking about. The young man noticed Anton was sitting in a chair next to the stretcher, with an empty one beside him. Roy figured that it was pulled up just for him, so he slowly got up to his feet.

Pain shocked his joins like electricity. It made him sit down in the chair instantly. Anton placed a hand on his shoulder, not saying a word. He knew exactly what Roy wanted to hear. Instead, the coach stood up and walked away. When he returned a couple of minutes later with two fresh cups of coffee, he found Roy practically bundled up in the fetal position in his chair, though still sitting upright. The champion's face was buried between his knees.

"I got you a cup of coffee." No response came from Roy. Anton set the mug down on a small tray nearby, one which was typically used to hold various items if a table was needed for visitors. In the pit of his stomach, Roy felt a strong sense of nausea. Iris' current state of health was predominantly his fault. He could have done something, tried to keep her back or intervene while it was happening. But it just all happened so fast. Such slight moments of hesitation had devastating results.

Anton began speaking once more.
"The x-rays came back. She's going to be fine. Out of commission for a little while, but she'll live." Roy was relieved, though he figured she would be all right. He would not believe it for sure until the young woman opened her eyes, that was for sure. With the amount that he was emotionally riling himself up, the man was on a fast track to give himself a heart attack. Same story, different day. Each and every time Iris hurt herself, this was the reaction that Roy offered. He could not even help himself.

Muttered voices and beeping were the first things Iris heard through a thick haze of darkness. Her mind was swimming trying to focus on something but sounds kept fading in and out always different save for the one constant beeping. At one point she could hear vaguely familiar voices but even then they seemed so far away.

Finally she started to surface from the depths of unconsciousness slowly becoming aware of her surroundings. There were still muffled voices and the ever present steady beep. A dull throbbing was there to welcome her back to the waking world. The same throbbing pain radiated down her spine through out the rest of her body. It was a dull ache thankfully but she could tell it was only dulled because of drugs in her system as evidence by the haze which clouded her mind. Ever intake of breath made the throbbing worse almost into a sharp stabbing pain. Her breath became shallow as she tried to avoid pain.

Roy's hand grasped the coffee mug, picking his head up slowly in order to do so. He brought the liquid to his mouth, ingesting the caffeinated drink in its entirety. Then he placed the empty glass on the tray and found his face buried between his legs once more. He had to find something better to do, then just wallow in pity; but he also couldn't help himself. The man was trapped on his own accord, after all. That's when an idea crossed the young man's mind. He certainly was not the ordinary bum, but a shot in the dark definitely could not hurt. He turned his head to Anton and spoke.
"You have any cigarettes on you? I could really use one of those."

Taking a deep drag and exhaling the burning plant matter inside, Roy leaned against the wall belonging to the one door leading outside from the intensive care unit. As he felt the nicotine further his light headedness, his body slid down the wall back into the same crumpled position it had been in when he was sitting in the chair next to Iris. No matter what road he took to try to differ his state of minds, they kept leading back. His body had the chills, despite the weather being just fine. Drawback of the nectar.

Doctors hated having to treat Roy because he always did whatever he wanted. When he walked back into the intensive care unit, he noticed he was limping. One of his legs had apparently been under more stress than the other, under the influence of line. It was weird how it worked. Each time he stepped on it, the bone felt as though it would shatter, so he did his best given the circumstances. Sitting himself back in the chair, he crossed his arms and leaned back. This was followed by his eyes closing.

Iris faded in and out of consciousness for a while before the strong scent of smoke crossed her nose. It was one of the smells she hated and irritated her. Her nose twitched slightly before she sneezed which she regretted a moment later as sharp pains wracked her body. She groaned softly in pain her eyes opening slightly to blurs of gray and white. She blinked a few times trying to figure out where she was. She tried to move her head but found that she couldn't.

A her heart rate picked up slightly bringing the steady beeping to a sharp acceleration. She couldn't move her head or anything else causing her to panic. One of her worst fears was being paralyzed and unable to move. She would very much rather be dead than stuck in a bed her entire life.

As soon as he heard Iris sneeze, Roy's eyes opened wide. He practically kicked the chair over as he ran toward the woman's side, noticing that the machine starting picking up her increasing heart rate. Figuring that she was probably freaking out due to the fact that she was strapped up, one of Roy's hand grasped hers. The other found it's way on her forehead, pushing some of the hair from her face in attempt to calm her down.

"You're fine. Everything is going to be all right. You're strapped up to a... Fxcking backboard, or something." Roy fell to his knees, due to the fact that he could not keep himself standing up. Anton immediately rushed to the champion's side, helping him up to his feet. Despite the fact that he had not felt the pain due to the distraction of Iris being awake, his body was well aware of the consequences, which came with over-exertion.Iris was about to start thrashing when she felt someone grab her hands. Wide emerald eyes flickered over to see Roy looming over her and is immediately started to relax

"Roy..." She sighed softly happy that he was alive and with her. She stared up ears twitching slightly when he mentioned being strapped down and frowned.

"Why?" She rasped her voice a bit scratchy from a dry throat. Her eyes widen as he suddenly fell out of sight

"Roy?!" She panicked a bit despising the fact that she couldn't move.

"The doctor said you have a couple of fractured ribs and displaced vertebrae." Roy was lucky to be held up by Anton. He did not have to do any of the work, though just being on his feet seemed hard. It begged the question as to why Anton hadn't pulled a chair up - but Roy didn't blame him for something so simple slipping his mind. If he had been in the coach's shoes, he probably wouldn't have thought about it much, either. "I'm sorry. It's my fault."

Iris's frown deepened slightly not really happy about this revelation, she was also still worried about Roy who didn't look good at all.
"It's not your fault... I was... just... stupid..." She muttered. It was honestly the only way to sum up what she had done. Unplanned, no communication, no escape or recovery route, the whole attack had been impulsive and reckless. She shifted her gaze back to Anton "Displaced... does tha-"

"No. You're going to be alright. Just stuck in bed for a day or two." Anton replied trying to put her mind at ease.

While it helped to know she wasn't paralyzed, it wasn't very comforting to be stuck strapped up either, there was also the matter of her ribs.
"How bad are my ribs?" She asked softly.

"Just hairline fractures so you're going to need to take it easy. No training for about a week, that's what the doctors say at least."

"What?!" Iris exclaimed and immediately regretted it as her ribs screamed at the sudden intake of breath. She whimpered softly trying hard not to breath deeply.

"That's exactly why. You're luck to even be able to move after the injuries you sustained." Their trainer scolded. Iris knew it was only a fraction of what he really had to say but was holding back for the moment due to their injuries and rather fragile state.

"I'll be fine. You need to get better before you could be of real use anyway. I think a couple days off is something we deserve anyway. How about you?" Roy asked will a small smile on his face. Anton brought him back to the chair he was sitting in, eventually laying him down. Then he picked both Roy and the chair up, placing it closer to Iris. He was still weak himself, though currently in better position than she was. In actuality, he was expecting a much worse blowback from his abilities.

Though, it couldn't possibly get more worse without him being comatose, or dead. He wanted to crawl back up into the stretcher once more, but it wasn't advisable. She needed her space, regardless of how much he just wanted to take it all up. So, the young man kept his eyes fixated on the woman without saying anything else.
"Yeah... I guess..." Iris sighed softly frustrated with herself more than anything. Being out of commission was bad enough, but she hated limiting herself and new Roy would be worried to no end. "Still... sorry for not being more careful." She looked over to Roy. "Not exactly one of my better hunts..."

"We'll do better next time. Don't worry about it. I don't think we've ever had a good first hunt. We're not gonna start now." This was something that actually rang true. They would simply have to smarten up for the next hunt and be more careful. "Besides, we did really good when it comes to how many kills we got. I think that's the most we've ever got in a hunt." Roy had not been keeping count by the end, but he had a haunting suspicion. "I'm just happy you're all right. I was really worried."

"True enough..." she smirked slightly "We'll get it right one of these years..." she muttered before thinking back through the haze of the hunt. Most of the events blurred together in a mass of carnage and survival. "Seven... I think..." she muttered. "Well... seven not counting the buta or near heard of igles... There were definitely more than usual. Most of them also bigger..."

"We did good. I think it's important that we take it easy for a little while now, though." Roy's hands made their way to his stomach, holding it. From time to time, it felt like the organ was doing summersaults in his stomach. The young man closed his eyes and leaned the back of his head against the top of the frame belonging to the chair. "You'll be back to full capacity quicker than you think."

Iris noticed Roy holding his stomach remembering he had used a lot more line than normal. One dose was bad enough but she wasn't even sure how many he went through in the rest of the hunt especially when she was knocked out. being off for nearly three months and then having to use a double or more dose? She wasn't sure how he was still up right.
"Yeah... I guess. How are you holding up?"

"I've been better." He spoke truthfully. Roy felt as though he had a very small amount of energy, and was running on fumes at this point. Worrying about Isis to a point where it made him physically sick had done a great job in causing his situation to be worse than it had to be. "My bones feel like they're going to shatter, but I just want to go home and lie down in my bed." Of course, he was referring to his room on Champion Island.

Iris' s weak smile morphed into a frown once more.
"Sorry... you should rest of your that tired. You look like you need it." She encouraged. She knew how he felt, sharp hunger pains were starting up the iv fluids had replaced most of the nutrients she needed after the hunt but nothing beat real food. "Besides it's not like I'm going any where" the champion forced a small smile. "I'll be alright. "

Roy turned to face Anton. He asked the coach if there was a way for him to have his stretcher closer to hers. Though, relatively speaking they would be close regardless, Roy did not want to leave Iris' side for a second. Anton had the champion's wishes accommodated before helping him back into his stretcher. If Iris had to stay longer, Roy would to. Nurses moved to reattach the machinery, which kept his system's report updated at all times.

"Good..." Iris smiled slightly as Roy agreed to rest. In all of his worrying he would drive himself literally insane if he didn't at least sleep. It was nice to have him close though. She couldn't really blame him, whenever Roy was hurt or sick she was normally the one to be freaked out and worried. It was an unhealthy co-dependency they had developed over the years of being paired together through the time in the academy and as a team. Iris sighed as they both settled back and she tried to find some rest. Her body was over exhausted so having to be completely still wasn't an issue, yet.

Jekyll Wilson & Mrs.Whickerbottom

Eximius Hospital- Private Room

Jekyll felt pain as his body twitched, the feeling of the soft bed underneath him doing nothing to help out the pain that enveloped his arms. During his last battle, the electricity and the extreme use of his hurt arms damaged his usually flexible muscles rather intensely, and ow any time there was any movement whatsoever that even slightly tipped the nerves in Jekyll's arms, they exploded into pain that racked his entire body. Normally he would be able to keep still for this long, but his body kept twitching in bed, and bumping into things without his command. As you can tell, this caused his arms to erupt many times, in many places, for many durations of time.

He gritted his teeth as he looked straight up at the ceiling, his eyes trying to stay focused and not go unconscious from the pain. While it might be more comfortable while passed out, the pain would grow even more intense with Jekyll not being in a state to keep his body from twitching too much. Usually people with these kind of injuries would be treated with painkillers to deal with the feelings of having their skin slowly regrow and replace the burned portion, however, with the nature of his injuries and the fact that the Nectar may be within his blood to some degree, they couldn't do anything until they were sure that the physical Nectar was gone and they could safely dull him.

Yet, that would take about thirty more minutes, a short time to most, but when you have arms that are constantly shooting you with little pellets of pain, you tend to exaggerate the minutes. Jekyll bit his lip as he cursed everyone he could think of, from Mrs.Whickerbottom and himself, to the doctor with the funny accent and Lil' Brown, who seemed to be taking the brunt of his obscenities when he found it in him to shout.

Beside him, Mrs.Whickerbottom sat in silent watch as she observed her champion struggle to keep calm and utterly fail at it, which would be accompanied by pained gasps or furious screams. She shook her head and looked out the window, hoping that the change of scenery would help her limit the amount of pain she could hear. In the reflection of the mirror, Mrs.Whickerbottom could see that her eyes had grown soft from the impact of seeing her champion in constant pain.

Not having paid attention to Mrs.Whickerbottom's presence after talking to her the first few seconds of being awake, Jekyll was about to bite his tongue clean off when there was a knock on the door, which he ignored, but he did notice the sound of Mrs.Whickerbottom's rapid steps towards the door, as well as the subsequent opening of it. Then, out of nowhere, Lil' Brown appeared, syringe in hand, and a scrunched up look that screamed “Please, please, don't let me screw up”. Bringing down her shaking hand, Jekyll was tempted to actually rear back from the pain killing needle, especially since in her hand it was shaking a hundred times a minutes.

However, his fears were averted as just before she injected it, the shaking stopped and the needle went safely into his arm, without worries. When the fluid was injected in Jekyll, he instantly felt the relief, may it be real or just an illusion brought on by belief, and sighed. Looking to Lil' Brown, happy that she had finally brought him the thing he had been wishing for, Jekyll smiled and said, “Thanks, felt like I had two Lumbri on my arms.”

It was then that the full effect of the pain killer merged with his already askew senses, and blurred everything to a point he could not make anything out. His voice heavy all of a sudden, unable to say anything, Jekyll wondered if he was in a dream, but he shook that thought away. Being drugged up was a perverse version of sleeping and he new the difference well. However, his sentiments about not being asleep were shaken as he heard a giggle to the side of his bed, one that sounded way to young to be Lil' Brown, who had been standing beside him originally.

Questioning his sanity, Jekyll looked over and was shocked into silence, all thought of even trying to talk through his lead tongue goneas he saw his sister eagerly looking at his bandages like they were the coolest things ever. Her eyes shining, Jekyll watched in horror and confusion as she suddenly looked at him with a blinding smile.

“Wow Jey-Jey, that is such a cool injury! Did that mean old bird hurt you!? Well when I get at him, don't you worry Jay, I'll make sure he never hurts you again!”

On habit, Jekyll tried to answer the girl with a scathing remark of some kind, but with his mouth weighted down with stone, he was fortunately unable to reply to this figment of his imagination. Glaring at Hyden, Jekyll tried to send his entire malice towards her, but it didn't stop her from placing her childish face even closer to his bandage.

Without warning, she began to rip it off without care, Jekyll having no ability to stop her. He wondered how strong the drugs he had been given were, when suddenly, instead of seeing his little sister randomly ripping his bandage off, he saw Lil' Brown, in her professional outfit, carefully taking it off with the utmost care. His eyes slightly blurry, Jekyll resigned himself to not being able to make sense of anything until the drugs were out of his system.

Looking around his surroundings as much as his numb body could, Jekyll felt his arms itch a bit as the pain tried to make itself known through the dull pain, but was unable to make much difference in how he felt. Right now, nothing could take him away from the anger he felt as he thought of his little sister, who seemed thousand of miles away now.

He didn't even know how he remembered her face, but apparently, he had a memory somewhere that was clear enough to mess with him. Looking at where Lil' Brown continued to re-bandage his injury, Jekyll asked out of need to get his mind of things, “So, how old are you?”

Lil' Brown looked up nervously, stopping in her bandaging, before nervously beginning, “Y-You are not supposed to a-ask a lady, her ag-age.”

Jekyll cocked an eyebrow, unknowing of Mrs.Whicker bottom listening on the coversation, before asking, “Is that something the other nurses told you to say?”

Lil' Brown dropped what little confidence she had scrounged up and returned to her bandaging, “Y-Yes, they said you wou-would enjoy the s-sass.”

Jekyll nodded sagely, before suggesting, “Maybe you shouldn't listen to them in the future. You'll get into a lot of trouble if you listen to those she-devils.”

Lil' Brown nodded before continuing to bandage the wound, letting Jekyll return to the silence of thinking. Feeling his entire body start to twitch randomly, Jekyll waited as he felt the last tug of the bandage being put on, before feeling the brown headed nurse rub it a bit, wishing good luck or something maybe. However, the serenity, or boredom, was ruined as Mrs.Whickerbottom stood up from her chair and yelled out, “Alright boy! Time to get up and get to the public place. You're all well and good now, so its time to get you socializing. Wouldn't be good for you to lose the few friends you don't have.”

Jekyll groaned as he felt his legs automatically start the movement that would get him up. With his arms numbed he would be able to move without pain, so he had nothing to argue about with Mrs.Whickerbottom. Besides, he liked to socialize, gave him chances to take things.

Katherine "Kat" Ariat

Intensive Care

A small pout pursed the pink soft lips of Katherine The Ghost while aiding nurses dragged her back into her room. Kat was very small, it wasnt hard for two nurses to man-handle her. Upset by this forceful act, Kat had a very upset and annoyed look on her face, complete with tightly crossed arms over her chest. The two nurses sat her back onto the bed, her legs dangling.

"Please lay back and relax," the nurse's voice was soft as she begged.

"No!" Kat spat sharply. She tightened her arms and looked down at her lap like a disobeying child.

"If you dont recuperate properly, there are going to be effects later...." The other nurse informed her. She was a little more stern than her colleage.

"No!" Kat repeated, turning her head to the side with her nose in the air and eyes closed with stubborness.

The two nurses sighed,"At least uncross your arms, the IV fluid can properly flow into your body with your arms crossed. Youre cutting the circulation of the tubes."

The green haired girl lifted and eyelid and peeked down at her arms. With a moments thought, she moved her hands and arms to ger sides, clutching the edge of the bed.

The nurses looked at eachother in defeat. They werent going to get her to do anything. They exchanged shrugs and left the room, leaving the door open.

Kat watched them leave. Once they were gone, she turned her head to the side to look at the pillow at the end of the bed. Her face softened from its previous annoyed state and she slowly layed herself down. Her legs still dangled off the bed, her torso was laying while her legs hung. She put a bandaged wrapped hand in the pillow she layed on and sat in silence, the ticking of a clock on a wall seemed to echo loudly in the hospital room. She always hated that sound. It drove her crazy and made her anxious. Her big green eyes blinked at nothing. A small finger tapped with impatience on the pillow. For once, time seemed really slow for her.

Filled with boredom and exhuastion, her eyes grew heavy with fatigue and she slipped into a dark nothingness with her eyes now closed. She wasnt asleep, but simply resting, just as the nurses instructed. The clock seemed louder now. Time moved a little fast again and before she knew it, about 30 minutes had past.

"Hey....are you awake?" Kat could hear a monotone yet feminine voice from the room.

As she came back to reality she slowly lifted her eyes open to Kascey Greene's face about two inches away from her own. "GAH!!!" she pulled away. The Shadowcat looked around and saw one of the nurses,"Ms. Ariat, Dr. Greene wanted to visit you again." She smiled and gestured to the woman in a labcoat.

"Clearly,..." Katherine muttered sarcastically through her teeth, shootig a glare to her trainer from the corner of her eye. The nurse saw her way out.

Kat didnt notice, but in Kascey's hands were folded clothes,"Well kiddo, theyre filling out some last minute paperwork for you downstairs," the doctor paused to pull out a cigarette and lighter from her lab coat. She lit it and puffed, then blew it out and spoke it again,"After that youre free to leave. I figured you may want some time out on the town. Grab some food or a beer."

"Im 18, i cant drink, and put that away! Youre in a hospital! And youre a doctor arent you supposed to be a good example and NOT smoke! That stuff could kill you!" Kat scolded and attempted to swat the cig from the doctor's hand. Kascey pulled it away.

"Eh, we're all gonna die, i can do As i please..." She shrugged and looked away for a brief moment. Dr. Greene turned her attention back to the tiny girl and plopped a hand, that wasnt occupied with holding a cigarette, ontop of her head. She ruffled her hair a bit,"Go have some fun kid, you deserve it." The older woman flashed a wink. She placed the clothes next to Kat on the bed and headed for the door,"Get ready, ill be outside." Just as she left the room, the nurses cane back in to help Kat with the tubes and needles.

About ten minutes passed and the nurses left with equipment in the hands, brushing past Dr. Greene who leaned against the wall near the door, cigarette resting in her mouth. Before the door closed with the leaving of the nurses, she caught it and went through,"You ready?"

Kat looked down at the acid bear tooth in her palm. With her tiny hands, it looked huge. She was remembering her experience with it and furrowed her eyes in determination before putting it in a small pocket in her skirt. She sat on the bed and was finishing up with the buttons on her shirt when Dr.Greene walked in. When she finished she looked up at her trainer,"Ready!" She did her signature salute and wink that she usually does for the fans. Following her signature move, she sat on the bed and flashed a cheerful grin.

<p><a href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2014_12/image.jpg.df79dd8f1607c84fec5392727daa1db0.jpg" class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image"><img data-fileid="36724" src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2014_12/image.jpg.df79dd8f1607c84fec5392727daa1db0.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt=""></a></p>

"Alright lets go." She spoke behind the cig that was still in her mouth.

Kat popped up and stood with her hands behind her back cutely,"Where are we going? Hm? Hm?" She followed her trainer out the door and into the hallway.

"More like where are YOU going..."

"What? Youre not coming? But--"

"Ah-ah-ah! Nope dont do this to me," Kascey stopped in the middle of the hallway and raised a hand between them, inturrupting Kat,"Ive got work to do for you. Which includes still fixing up your suit." She shook her head,"Ahh...acid burns...you gotta love em..." She said with sarcasm.

"Then what do i do?" She looked up at her mentor with big blinking eyes. Her tone was innocent and light.

The doctor sighed in defeat,"When you want to get picked up, just give me a call. Ill send someone out for you...." She reached into her lab coat once more and handed a phone to the girl. (Assuming there are still phones in the future...)

"Jeez, what else you got in there?" The curious girl leaned over to try and peek but Kascey started to walk again. Kat pouted with out catching a glimpse of anything.

"I assume you know how to use it?"

"Of course! I am 18! We youngins can learn any--whoa...." Kat had a sudden dizzy spell, she leaned and held onto a wall while a hand held her head.

Dr. Greene blinked in suspicion,"You alright?" she held up Kat by her arm.

"I just got dizzy all of a sudden..." She straightened herself up and went back to her mentor.

Kascey put and arm around the Ghost girl,"Yea, theyre side effects from the Nectar."

"Wha? But thats never happened with the other two times i used it..." She said, still holding her head.

"Honey, this isnt the street junk you got, this is some real concentrated stuff." She informed.

"O-oh...." Kat put her hand back down to her side, the dizzy spell wearing off.

Together they walked down the hall, heading to the elevator.

Hospital -> Private Room

After about another hour in intensive care unit the two Champions were moved to a private room once both were deemed stable. Iris was given some movement but it was limited to sitting up and just her neck, the dislodged ended up happening mid torso so. A brace around her ribs kept her upper body perfectly still Iris hated it though. It was uncomfortable to say the least but she kept her complaints down to a minimum not wanting to worry Roy. She was happy when he had finally decided to get some rest. The trip to the room was fairly hazy since she still was under the influence of pain killers.

At some point she had fallen asleep because the next thing she knew she had been moved off of a stretcher into a hospital bed, and given some freedom back. She sighed softly opening her eyes managing to focus long enough to get a clear sense of where she was. She glanced around the familiar room, it wasn't the first time she had needed to stay at a hospital. Hopefully this stay would be as short as the prior once. She didn't see any sign of Anton but that was probably because he stepped out to get food or deal with press. He was their trainer but would also deal with most of the public relations details. She knew a good part of it was so the trainer would be able to have direct control over who they saw and when and training could be focused on. Though Iris had a habit of attracting attention.

As her emerald gaze scanned over the room her eyes came to rest on Roy who was in a deep sleep for once. A small smile curved her lips as she watched him sleep on the next bed over. She always had a deep sense of worry for the other champion. He was always so serious and the stronger leader out of the two of them but would be so hard on him self at the same time. Guilt churned in her stomach for making him worry so much about her. She never meant to make his job more difficult but had a habit of doing so any way. Nearly eight years together through academy training and out as real Champions and not much changed about the dynamics of their relationship other than an unhealthy attachment.

The media always like to make a big deal about them and suggest that they were dating or in love. Anytime they were having an off hunt it was because they were "fighting" or going through some kind of rough patch. It was a silly notion. She was never one to pay attention to gossip. The bond they shared was their own business and the world didn't have to know. Was it true though? She wasn't sure. Having grown up in a loving and affectionate family it was normal for her to build a similar bond with Roy. She would also do anything for him, to make sure he was safe and healthy. Even if that meant taking multiple doses of line so he wouldn't have to use a drop.

Eximus hospital

After several hours of detox Jason was finally released, feeling the normal queasiness he normally felt after using so much Nectar. He stood and stretched, cracking his neck with a deep sigh. He hated going through the detox process, but without it he'd probably end up in worse shape than he already was. Somehow he'd gotten through this hunt with minimal injuries, despite having to face down a Lummox and a Bezin in sequence.

After a much needed shower he got changed into his normal clothes, his sword taking its resting place on his back until he could get back to his apartment. He slipped on a new eye patch and sighed quietly, pulling up a map on his HUD. He saw that one of his friends, another well-known hunter, had been put in the ICU after running into a nest of nasties. Deciding he'd go pay him a visit he headed out into the hallway, making his way through the hospital.

As he walked he noticed one of the private rooms was taken, with Roy and Iris' names up on the placard. He smirked a bit, glad to know they were alright. He gave them a hard time, but they were still hunters that deserved respect.

Knocking lightly on the door he opened it a crack, peeking his head inside.

"Hey there, good to see you're still alive." he said, opening the door and leaning against the door frame.

"Quite the hunt today. You guys did pretty damn good against that Bezin." he admitted with a little chuckle.

"Just wanted to stop by and say thanks. That thing probably would have killed me if you two weren't around." He smirked slightly, scratching his cheek in thought.

"I wanna show my thanks properly, anything the two of you want when you're recovered, it's on me. Dinner, drinks, night on the town, whatever."

Redd Shotokhan

Outside of Arcadia's walls, Far Side of the Planes (Opposite of the lake), Surrounded by Forests, Shadow of the Mountains - Standing next to the dead, acid-blood fountain-spraying, mantis.

Redd's left foot crashed down on the arm of the mantis, snapping the blade at the pivot-joint like one would a crab's claw, ripping the meat out of it as it was stripped from the corpse. The half-burnt-up communicator in his ear hissed and crackled as his 'coach' issued commands of him having to return. Redd solemnly nodded his head forwards, using his right hand ever-so-gently to pull the straw hat down to hide his eyes. A signal to tell him that he was through. "I will... Leave both of you to continue..." His muscles tensed, visibly bulging and flexing as certain strands overlapped other strands of muscle fibers as they bunched up. His body moved forwards- or rather backwards- to the way he had entered from. At his back was a field full of Uaccam, set on fire, and full of acid. This fight had practically terraformed half of the large field. A small stream of acidic blood trickled towards the lake.

Redd took the blade of the mantis with him and walked head-long towards the gates, using this 'scythe' blade to slash at any monsters that may try and attack him. This trip back took him roughly ten minutes as he 'speed-walked' back to the eastern gate. Behind the barrier was a crowd full of people who had painted their skin red and was shouting at him. He paused, lifting the mantis's scythe and received a testosterone filled roar of cheers. Most of those in the crowd were actually spurred to cheer harder at the sight of the man with no skin on most of his upper half raising his hand in victory.

His coach went to his side. "What the hell did you do?! You big idiot! I thought we agreed that you wouldn't put yourself in danger on your first hunt?"

"Weaklings... seek safety..." The drone picked all of this up as the roars of the crowd got louder. The ground was rumbling with their stomps and the air was cracking like thunder with their cheers.

"Well... you don't exactly look 'fit' right now... Let's get you back to the hospital. STRETCHER!!" The old man got a hand placed on his shoulder.

"I will walk." He removed his hand, letting the old man watch as the cloth on his shoulder started to smoke from the remnants of the acid blood. His left hand continued to carry the scythe high above his head as his right hand continued twitching.

Iris Scarlet

Hospital -> Private Room

A lone TV hung upon the wall opposite to the beds in the room, the screen still dark. Iris was tempted to turn it on but figured it was bed to wait for the hype to die down. There were no doubt clips of the Hunts being shown over and over again. She was interested to see what the other Champions had been up to, especially those she considered friends. It was always fun to see what kind of fights and monsters were taken down. Even if she was a champion Iris was still a fan at heart. The kid in her who would spend hours watching the Hunts on the TV was still alive and well. She admired the other more well known hunters and even some of the new comers who were interesting.

She glanced over to a table by the door that was already starting to be piled up with various cards and small trinkets sent by fans. A balloon or two swaying slightly just shy of the ceiling. It wasn't much of a surprise to see them. She was curious to see what was written on the cards however didn't really have the strength to go over and sate her curiosity. It would probably be a another day or so before she would be able to stand up on her own.

Crimson ears perked up slightly at the sound of a knock. Iris looked over and spotted a familiar face enter the room but was fairly surprised. She had expected Anton or medical staff not another champion. Especially one they had been conflicting with through most of the hunt. Still smiled softly at the older Champions offer. Hunts were always a competition and in the heat of the moment everything was tense. Added in the effects of line and the aggression was through the roof. Outside of the hunts when everything is calmed down things were usually different.

With a slight tilt of the head she replied with a slight rasp to her voice. "Sound's like it could be fun." She thought briefly back to a faint memory. Of someone trying to call Evac. The voice had been familiar but now she could finally place it. "Hey... did you try to call evac?" She questioned softly trying to make sure she was remembering things right.

Xerxes Turan

Eximus Hospital

Xerxes stood tall gazing out a window to a rather large crowd of people holding up a multitude of signs and still cheering though he was long gone and inside now. He was currently only in a pair of black pants that hugged around his calves and a pair of mid-shin length black tabi-boots. A nurse had just finished checking up on Xerxes and found only a bruised ankle, the length of the hunt combined with his regenerative qualities resulted in him returning virtually unharmed, as the most serious injury he had acquired was a severely sprained ankle which he shrugged off and allowed to regenerate with his time of stalking and waiting and resting he did. As the middle-aged female was about to leave the room she'd pause to turn around and gaze at the phoenix tattoo on his back again before turning to leave. However she was halted at the door as there was a large old man who had the build of a classic lumberjack. She'd apologize for bumping into him before trying to slide her way out beside him, hearing this Xerxes turned his head towards his left to gaze over his shoulder for a brief moment.

"One hell of a show you put on today, was thinkin' you'd kill those two champions, why'd ya' help 'em?" said Jack as he stood in the doorway arms crossed wearing only a blue denim flannel with its three top buttons unbuttoned, blue work jeans and steel toed boots that showed years of wear. "I took interest in them, that is the only reason." replied Xerxes with a certain shortness as if he was irritated. "What's itchin' ya' kid? Unhappy with the amount of kills you picked up today?" questioned Jack as he took a few steps forward gazing at a copy a medical report showing Xerxes was clear to leave if he wished. "No, there are two things. I was unable to think up a way to bring the beast I had tamed back into the city with me, and I was unable to claim the Bezin's head as I wanted to." Xerxes would say this turning around, his dark melodic voice danced its way to Jack's ears and caused the old man to pause a bit at the mention of Bezin. "Dangerous things they are." said Jack after the brief pause he had taken. "What a Centurious? You cannot be that stupid Jack." Xerxes said with a sharp tongue in reply. "No damnit, the Bezin you red haired jack-wagon." Jack replied equally as fast with an irritate tone, resulting in Xerxes to lightly grin at his old trainer before nodding. "I know, only pulling your leg. Do you mind dealing with the media today I wish to hunt down those champions perhaps talk to them." He stated walking forward so he was only a few feet away from the large old man still slightly gazing up at him. After doing so he'd reach a hand out to grab a red-tank top and proceed to leave not waiting for Jack's reply.

Jack stood there for a few moments before letting out a heavy sigh and approaching the window his heavy gray eyes gazing out into the crowd, the mention of the Bezin had brought back old memories he was strongly trying to forget. However he could not let this stifle him and as a team member for Xerxes he would have to do so even though reluctantly. With this in mind he'd turn on a heel and start on his way out halting to look at the medical papers again for a brief moment to double check and then would leave making his way to the elevator. Meanwhile Xerxes was interrogating a nurse in order to find the duo's room. After a few moments of innocent threatening he got what he needed and left the poor young male nurse be and headed for the stairs.

It did not take him long before he reached the level the nurse had spoken of but now he was gazing down a hallway that looked out into the city as the entire wall was made of glass. Roars, cheers, and chants all still eminent from today's hunt as the audience was still excited much like a group of spectators leaving a football game when their team had won. Xerxes proceeded down this hallway until an intersection came about in which he'd gaze in the three new options before spotting the champion he saw with the duo in the hallway to his left. Xerxes made his way down the hallway noticing the champion was now peeking his head in and a muffle of words could be easily heard but not easily made out. The approach Xerxes had took was ultimately silent especially if the attention was drawn inwards and not to their surroundings.

Upon arriving standing almost directly behind the one-eyed-champion. "It sounds like you are asking her out on a date." Spoke Xerxes in his usual dark and melodic tone followed by a light chuckle. He stood with his arms crossed, feet against each other and at full height with his hair still styled as it was during the hunt up in a ponytail with a crimson strands dancing around his eyes.

Jason smirked slightly, stepping further into the room. "That's right, I was the one that was calling for evac. You should have been airlifted out from the position you were in, until Roy decided it was a smart idea to pick you up and run. Honestly, I'm surprised you're not in worse shape, all things considered." he said, stretching a bit. He got a message on his HUD, sighing a bit.

"Hey, I have to get going, but before I leave..." he said, walking over and picking up a scrap of paper and a pen, jotting something down.

"This is my personal number. When you guys are all healed up, let me know, and I'll hold good to my promise." he said, setting the paper next to her bed. He offered a small, playful grin and scratched behind her ears briefly.

"You've got some major balls, going against both of those creatures the way you did. I'm impressed." he said, turning and glancing at the other Champion when he spoke. He chuckled a bit, shaking his head.

"What, sore that I got here before you? Don't worry, I'm not asking her out. The both of them are invited." he said, glancing down at the other champion as he walked past. He offered a little wave to Iris and Roy, though the latter seemed to be asleep.

"Looking forward to seeing you guys when you get out of here."

Eximus Apartments

Jason soon made his way back towards his apartment, frowning slightly when he saw his droid waiting for him with stacks of paperwork.

"What's all this? Did this really warrant a message with 'URGENT' slapped across the top?"

"I'm sorry sir, your publisher, agent, and HR rep insisted that you get these checked and signed personally as soon as possible." the droid replied in a pleasantly monotone voice.

"Yeah, yeah... You know, one of these times I'd like to get done with a hunt, come home, and go the fuck to sleep." he said, taking the papers from the droid's arms as he walked through his apartment. The place was massive, almost a small mansion, paid for almost completely from his film revenue. Sitting down at his desk he started going through the papers, sighing quietly.

"Get some tea on... And let my agent know that unless I get these signing bonuses immediately, I'm not going to put my name on a damn thing."

"Of course, right away, sir." the droid responded, wheeling off to the kitchen to start Jason's tea.

After nearly two hours' worth of sighing, checking his account balance, and occasionally cursing he was finished. "Alright, get these back to the proper parties, I'm going out.

"Of course, sir. Have a pleasant evening." the droid responded, gathering up the paperwork as Jason got cleaned up and changed into some nicer clothes. A button down shirt, dark slacks and tie, and a well-fitted vest and he was feeling decent enough to head out.

He left his apartment, heading towards the restaurant district. A good meal and no small amount of booze would be a good way to round out the day.

Iris "Scarlet"

Hospital - Private Room

"Ah... yeah... Roy was just really worried. I'm pretty sure he healed me or something once we got to the gate or something." She smiled slightly looking over to the sleeping brunet. She really wouldn't have been surprised if he healed her and that was the only reason she wasn't in much worse shape. Her ears perked up at the sound of a beeping noise and she looked back to Jason as he offered her his number and mentioned hanging out at some point. Which in all honesty could be interesting. Her ear twitched and flicked slightly from being scratch as a faint tingling sensation was felt. It always happened when ever her ears were messed with, and was an odd but pleasant sensation. Still having anyone but Roy or her family touch them was just strange and a bit awkward.

She smirked slightly at the mention of taking on the two monsters and shrugged slightly. "Can't exactly let fear stop you from a challenge." She replied which was half true. She had never been one to give into fear but used it as a sign to be cautious. Still, she would have never attacked either of the high thread monsters in such a brash way if it hadn't been for the high levels of Line in her system.

Her attention turned to the door as someone else entered and recognized the man as the red head from earlier in the hunt. She flushed faintly at the mention of being asked out on a day and was about to correct him when Jason spoke up first. Last thing she needed was rumors going around now of her dating other Champions. Her emerald eyes flicked over to Jason as he left and she noted. "Alrighty, see you later." She replied not really sure how long 'later' would be. Still she turned her focus back to the red head who was lingering by the entrance.

"Eventful day, How'd the rest of the hunt go for you?"

Katherine "Kat" Ariat

Eximus Hospital (on her way out)

Kat and her trainer stepped into the elevator. Both squeezed in between some people that were already there,"Sorry, excuse me heh heh..." It was too hard for the small girl to fit through crowds, in fact she was a master at it. Her mentor, however, had a harder time. The ghost girl snaked her arm around a person that stood infront of her, to punch in the button that took them to the lobby.

The crowd moved out of the tight space as soon as the doors slowly spreaded open. Kat stepped out, hands behind her back and a big happy smile on her lips. Her bright green eyes were full of life and eager to be free from the hospital. Dr. Greene went to the front desk and gathered the papers for her mentee's medical discharge.

Kat went to main entrance door and lightly gripped her hands on the handles, looking out the glass and into the world. "Im hungry..." She mumbled,"First on the agenda!," she turned on her heels, one hand behind her, and the other with an index finger pointed upward,"We need to eat!"

Dr. Greene turned her head and looked at the young female with her head tilted down and her eyes abpve the top rim of her glasses,"I told you theres no we business...."

The Shadowcat ignored her and once again faced the door,"Next, will be going home....and take these silly bandages off..." She looked down at her hands with disgust.

"You need to keep them on for a few days...." Dr.Greene pointed out.

"What?! But theyre so....unattractive! I cant have them ruining my image now.." She placed a bandaged hand under her green short locks and pretended to puff them up. She giggled at herself.

With a hand signing some papers, the other wandered into the lab coat pocket,"Here...." She pulled out small black and dainty gloves,"Use these..." She paused for a moment to look at Katherine before returning back to the papers

The Ghost girl stood silent for a second, eyes narrowed with pouty lips. She raised her hands to hold the side of her head then extended them out into the air,"Where do you get all thiese things?!" She zoomed to Kascey and got in her face, looking her in the eyes, holding herself up with her tippy toes. She was still pretty small,"Are you magical?" Her eyes were still narrowed and her face had skeptisism all over it,"Is your pocket a bottomless pit?" Kat's face grew soft again and she put two fingers in one of the pockets, trying to take a peek inside.

Kascey quickly dropped the pen and used the same hand to smack Katherine's,"Dont touch me..."

"Ow! Hey!" She rubbed her bandaged hand and glared daggers at the taller woman.

The doctor sighed and closed her eyes, pinching the bridge of her nose. Her left hand held up the gloves, eyes still closed. She removed her right hand moved from her nose and pointed to the door,"Just take em and go."

Katherine grinned,"Alright!!" She grabbed the gloves roughly and walked out of the hospital with a puffed chest full of confidence.

Dr.Greene shook her head and looked at the lady working the front desk,"That girl....shes as clumbsy as a blind bear....hope she doesnt get hit by a car....its happened...."

Outside, Katherine took a deep breath full of fresh air. She raised an arm to shield her eyes from the beaming sun,"At least its a nice day~" she stopped in her tracks to slip on her gloves and quickly went on her merry way.

Eximus wasnt quite bustling, but there were people out and about. Familes with their kids, couples spending time, or even just single people enjoying whats left of the day. The tiny girl took big strides as she walked with a bright smile that brightened anyone spirit who looked at her. She entered a certain part in the city where most of the restaurants were set up. "Ooh~" she cooed at the sight of donuts through a bakery window. "Ah they smell so good~" she placed her black gloved hands on her cheeks, slipping into a flaky and glazed dream land. The dream land popped away when her stomach grumbled. She opened her eyes and moved her hands above her tummy,"Alright, alright i hear ya...a big meal it is!" She continued her way down the street in search of a good place to eat.

Her eyes landed on a small little place. She passed by the window. The people inside were dressed descently, not too fancy nor too casual. Kat looked down at her own outfit,"I hope this is okay..." She brushed her black skirt a little and pulled her black thigh high socks a little higher.

The door pushed open by her little hand. She skipped in happily and was quickly met by a waiter,"Can i help you little girl?" He smiled down at her

"Hey! Im not a little girl!" She crossed her arms,"Im here to eat like everyone else here!"

"Ah....m-my apologies...." he cleared his throat,"Right this way please." He started to walk.

"Actually...can i sit by the window?" She asked quietly. She never liked asking too much of people.

"Of course, where ever you like," he turned back to her and followed where she sat. She took a seat and the waiter slipped a menu onto the table and set up some silverware, topped off with a linen napkin. "Could i start you off with a drink?"

"Ooh~ lemonade sounds nice!" She nodded and smiled.

"Coming up shortly." He left for her request.

Kat released a relaxed sigh and rested her chin in her hand while watching people pass. "And here we have our newest contestant: Kat Ariat, or known as The Ghost, by her fans."

"Hm?" The young champion's attention was grabbed by the voice of a sports announcer coming from a large TV in the bar area of the joint. She turned her head and watched as they showed clips of her fighting the iseags and the acid bear. "For a new participant shes got a lot of confidence."

"Haha! I cant agree more, just look at that grin on her face while over killing that acid bear." The co-host added.

Immediately whispers errupted through out the restaurant. People passed looks toward her. "Is that her?", "Wow shes a lot smaller in person", "Shes really young."

Kat blinked at the sudden amount of attention she was getting. She had confidence on the surface, but in reality she was quite shy, especially around crowds. Her cheeks grew a little pink and she swiftly turned her head away and stared out the window, trying to get her mind off of the hunt.

Jason strolled his way through the city, sighing quietly. It was nice to just wander and not get mobbed by fans, especially after the day he'd been having. He was a bit annoyed at the amount of paperwork he had to get done after each hunt. As much as he loved the fame and fortune the violence brought, it was nice to just relax away from everything once in a while.

He wandered around aimlessly, soon deciding on a place to eat. Not because it was somewhere he favored, but because he saw a familiar flash of green hair in the window. He smirked slightly and headed inside, waving off the water as he walked over to Kat's table. He watched the TV for a moment and chuckled a bit.

"Acid Bear... Not bad." he teased. He'd met with her a few times outside of the hunts, and always enjoyed the girl's company.

"This seat taken?" he asked, motioning to the empty seat across from her.

"If you're waiting for someone, I can go elsewhere."

Katherine "Kat" Ariat

Eximus (in a restaurant)

The green-haired girl was busy thinking about other things to even realize another member of the hunt to just pass, passed the window she was staring out of.

She perked up at the sound of a somewhat familiar voice. At the turn of her head she met the gaze of a much taller guy. She gasped and observed he who stood before her,'The red hair, the trademark eyepatch, its....its...'

"J-Jason McManus...." She stared and whispered in disbelief for a moment. "Oh!" She shook her head and blushed realizing she was staring,"No! No! I-im here by myself, please, join me." She gestured to the seat across the table. Her eyes followed him while he took his seat.

'I cant believe hes sitting with me!' Green eyes blinked at him, a twinkle in her eye. Shes talked with him before, but only briefly. Most of the time shes seen his face was on TV before she became a champion herself.

The waiter came back with the lemonade she asked for, snapping her out of her daze. "Heres your drink Ms. Ariat." Thanks to the sports highlights on the television, it was impossible for anyone to not know who she was now.

"Huh? O-oh..." She looked up at the stranger,"Thank you," she nodded. Her small hand reached for the cold glass,"I just cant believe it..." She paused to lift the straw to her pink lips and sipped a little before talking again,"I cant believe youre here! Ha! With..with with me!" She stuttered. Her slim fingers, still covered with the thin black gloves, swished the ice with the straw, emitting a light clinking noise against the glass itself. She gulped,"S-sorry, i bet you get enough attention as it is." She gave a timid smile and shyly sank into her shoulders. Her legs, that couldnt reach the floor below, kicked and swung with joy.

The waiter handed a menu to Jason and when finished setting up his napkin and silverware asked,"Can i start you off with a drink?"

The TV in the background continued to cover the rest of the Champions, including Jason.

Connor

Eximus Hospital Private room

For the Doctors of the hospital, Connor was a surprisingly easy patient to deal with. His regeneration kept him intact. Generally there was nothing to do but provide him a room and let him wake up on his own accord. Also as he was one of the saner of the bunch aside from his recent eccentricity in his verbal communication, Doctors could count on a cordial greeting. However, line always had side effects after drug had worn off. Connor was no different. It wasn’t anything too bad, however after his request, he had the doctors agree to do something for him.

“QUICK GET HIM THE TRASHCAN! HE’S UP! HE’S GETTING UP.”

Connor barely reached consciousness before he felt a rumbling in his stomach. He tightly covered his mouth with one hand while a nurse quickly passed him a nearby bin. The rumbling grew worse. He quickly hugged the trashcan, hung his head over it and let loose the contents of his stomach. The Red menace was the drinker of team Vodka…he was fairly certain he represented the hangover.

It was about thirty minutes before Chad showed up “Dude, you totally look pale…not rad bro.” Connor sighed into his second trashcan, the first one being filled with contents best left in the bio hazard bin. “Line will do that…Ughh…feel like hands rubbed raw…” His handler nodded, “totally were brah, I mean, mantis knocked that tree right outa your hands! Totally awesome. Radical really!” Connor blinked slowly raising his head from the trashcan, “Did what now?” When he was beserking, things tended to blur together, sure there was a mantis, he hit it a few times with something…but he wasn’t sure with what.“You say tree?”

Totally dude! IT WAS RAD, you were like RAGHHH it was screeching in a rage. Totally bodacious! I’ve already gotten 2 bat deals for you!” “Bat deals?” “Totally brah! Tag line Swing like the Frenzy. I got the clip!” He pulled out his phone and showed him the video of Connor swinging the tree like a madman at the Mantis, every blow making a tremendous crack. Connor blinked in surprise. “Ok…is good…is very nice…wish I remembered more. Very cool.”

He sratched the back of his head, slightly looking tired. “Borris at bar?” Chad nodded, “yeah brah. You think he wouldn’t be?” Connor shook his head, “Nah, of course would be. Is Borris. If not drunk…is problem. With him. is not…what you say…tubular? Is correct usage?” Chad nodded, “Totally. Anyway just ride out the rest of the hour like a smooth wave, you’ll be back on the streets in no time. Fell rad soon Brah!” With that the surfer lingo spewing handler left, leaving Connor alone in the room. He looked at the clock and sighed, “Ripper will be hungry. Wants food…probably eaten chew toy. Will take on walk later…maybe after pool. Maybe too pool. No wait…claims area in pool…bad for children…very bad. Just regular walk yes. Want dog now.”

Roy

[ Eximius Hospital ]

For a majority of Jason's visit, Roy was not exactly 'conscious'. When he did wake up and notice that the champion was in their room, however. He pushed himself up slightly on his cot, keeping his attention on the other champion while examining the room which both him and Iris were put in. It looked like every other room that was ever offered or given to them. He did not stare at the man, nor Iris as they spoke; rather, Roy just kinda sat there and stared off into space. The champion was curious as to why he could not catch up with his own sleep cycle, but when he remembered that his body underwent trauma during the hunt - well, it obviously began to make sense.

Light hues watched as the man turned to speak to him. Roy had not, up until this point, shared a word with the visiting champion. While he was not exactly upset or mad at him for visiting, because any normal person in his situation would have done so. Over that, Roy was worried. Anxious. Another person such as Jason being around meant that they were being watched by another champion. When the other man had told him not to worry, before adding in the extra stuff about not asking Iris on a date. This made Roy's face slightly red, between blushing and being angry at his mention of how he shouldn't be jealous or worry.

What an asshole. Even as he stood there, offering to take the two out - Roy believed the man had another angle. That was when another familiar face made his way known. This was the same man who had originally dropped in to help both Iris and Roy. The man was more enigma than not on the battlefield, but here it seemed as though both champions were extremely relaxed in comparison to the last time he saw them. Then again, being on a hunt and going through multiple vials of Nectar could easily do so. When Jason made it clear that he was looking forward toward seeing the two on their feet, Roy's face slightly malfunctioned. A simple wince, or twitch of the eyes gave his feelings away. Really, the champion was just confused as to why Jason would want to spend time with them at all. It was nice of him, though. That idea had certainly not passed by Roy without contemplation.

Iris was asking the man about how he performed on the rest of the hunt. Roy turned to get to his feet, stretching slightly while keeping his eyes on his partner. When he had finished, both hues had made their way back toward Xerxes. His partner may have been sociable and definitely nice to those who deserved it, Roy ran on the opposite spectrum. Moving his arms to cross his chest, he cocked his head back slightly as he looked at the man who had made it a point to visit their room as well.
"Who are you? Why did you help us, and why are you here?"

Mathias "Matt" Blackwell

Southern wall>Eximius

He was kind of disappointed that he was unable to bring any trophies back from his hunt, but the head of that brayx was out of the question, and any other body part was way too heavy to bring back. He sighed and leaned his forehead against the window of the car bringing him back to Eximius, regretting his lack of upper body strength. Then again, without a power supporting his natural physique it would probably be borderline impossible even if he worked on his strength. Besides, more muscles might just get in the way of his acrobatic fighting style. You win some, you lose some.

He looked down at his hands and noticed how difficult it was to hold them without shaking. A familiar sign that his powers were running dry. And what did that mean? He was going to get tired. The car rolled up outside Eximius and he stepped out with his gear in a large bag hanging from his shoulder. He turned his steps towards the front door, and upon opening it was welcomed. Violently. Matt's head rocked over to the side and he stumbled into the wall just inside the building, rubbing his aching cheek. He opened an eye and looked at his trainer with some sort of mix between respect and disdain. Few people dared to touch him when he was still under the effect of Line, but Alexis was not afraid to get physical if she disapproved of anything he did.

"What the hell was that?" She shouted at him. "What?" He responded, still rubbing his chin from the punch. He was just happy she didn't use her metal arm. "One monster. One. Monster. Do you have NO sense of pride about your work?" It was pretty clear she didn't approve of his plan. "I had to impress the crowds. Make a big comeback. You dig?" She raised her metal fist threateningly "It's not about the fame! Do you think this is a game? The monsters kill people!" Matt raised his hands excusingly in front of him, but if it hadn't been for Elias he probably would've lost a couple of teeth that day. "Wait, wait! Alex!" Alex stopped her hand halfway through the punch and looked at Elias, who ran towards them with a pile of papers in his arms. "You don't know what effect aggravating him now could have!"

Matt rolled his eyes, but was thankful that he didn't get a face full of pneumatic metal. "Let's just calm down and take a seat, shall we?" Elias added, and motioned to a half-circle consiting of two armchairs and a couch. "Don't patronize me." Alex responded spitefully, but she still sat down in one of the armchairs. Elias sat down in the armchair across from her and motioned towards Matt to take a seat on the couch. Matt dropped his bag on one end of the couch and then laid down, using it as a pillow. "So what's up?" Matt asked Elias, who quietly responded "Hm?". He was flipping through the pages of the document he was carrying, but now he looked up. "Oh, you just have to answer some questions." Alex shuffled in her seat and looked bored. "Yeah, alright. Pour it on me." "Alright... Let's see..."

"Did you feel strange during any parts of the hunt? Tired, energetic, hungry, anything at all?"

"Hungry, but it's nothing out of the ordinary."

"Mhm.."

Elias scribbled something down on a paper.

"Did you experience any memory lapses?"

"Nope."

"Alright.. How do you feel now, after the hunt?"

"Pretty normal, I guess. A bit satisfied over the outcome."

Alexis let out a quiet dry laugh, and gave him stern look. Elias got out of his seat and stood up, still looking at the pages in his hands.

"Uh-huh. Well, then there's only one question left."

"What's that?"

"... Did you hear any voices?"

Matt hesitated for a moment, and looked up only to meet Elias calm gaze. He looked so threatening when he was inquisitive, and despite his well-mannered nature, Matt could never feel safe around him. "... No."

Elias shone up and smiled at him. "That's good! Congratulations on the hunt, by the way. I'll see you..." He looked down at his papers once again. "... when I see you. Oh well, you'll hear from me." And so he left, walking off to do whatever he did during the days. Alexis sighed and got out of her seat as well. "Well, whatever. Don't play around like that again, or I'll make sure you're unable to ever join a hunt again." She said, and cracked her still crackable knuckle. Matt didn't think she was lying. Some of the stories he'd heard about her led him to believe she'd decomissioned more champions than the monsters ever had. "I'll do my best." She looked at him almost disappointedly, and let out a "Humph." before leaving as well.

Matt was about to get out of the couch as well, when the fatigue caught up to him. His arm bent underneath him as he tried to push himself up, and he landed with a quiet thump on his bag again. A combination of the post-line fatigue and his narcolepsy often made it difficult for him to move after a hunt, so he just gave up and laid on the couch, staring at the ceiling. A familiar buzz came from his pocket, and he mustered the strength to raise his arm and check his phone. A message.

Good work with that hunt. Your old fans are going crazy. Welcome back, "Orion".

He smiled weakly at it. At least someone appreciated him. This is going to be a great year... Was the last thing he thought before the darkness enveloped him, and he fell asleep on a couch in the Eximius lobby.

Jekyll Wilson

Eximius Hallways -> Eximius Lobby

Jekyll wandered the halls with a frown on his face, his sharp eyes trying to pierce the dull haze that would continuously attempt to come over him. Looking around, Jekyll sped up as he tried to get a s far away as possible from Mrs.Whickerbottom, the old hag having left hima while ago for a moment to go to the bathroom. Of course, waiting around wasted time, and he wanted to get places faster. Besides, with her leading them, it would take forever to get to where he wanted to go, with her rather fast, yet very tiny steps. Lil' Brown had seemigly been tempted to come with him, to make sure he was ok, but he had told her to stay and wait, to tell Mrs.Whickerbottom what had happened and why her Champion wasn't where she had left him.

Jekyll hissed as he felt someone bump into his side, his hands automatically making to grab for their pocket, but flinching as they burned. Instead of the piercing pain he felt earlier, the painkiller had settled enough that now the pain felt like both of his arms had went to sleep, and his arms were being pricked by tiny little icicles. Looking up, Jekyll noticed that he bumped into a clean cut doctor, who had a tinge of suspicion in his eyes. Who wouldn't if they saw a patient walking the halls with both of his arms bandaged? Looking at the man, thinking quickly, Jekyll asked, "Neah, wha are ouo wooking at, yuh? Heah, my yarms newah heeled, but I yill have to jet to my Yampion. I yeard he was in a yad wight wid an Yacid Wear, hace all burned yoff and luff."

Pushing past the man, any satisfaction Jekyll might have gained by successfully fooling the man was tempered by how hard and uncomfortable it was to talk through the lead tongue, which had grown a whole lot worse sense the Painkillers. Humming to himself, feeling his entire face suddenly begin to twitch, as well as his arms and chest, Jekyll almost thought he needed to go back to the doctor for a quick checkup when the twitching began to slow down, becoming only a minor annoyance.

The bandages on his arms constantly putting pressure on his wounds was constantly making his arms feel weird, but it was a necessity. If he didn't have them on, then, well, they would be assaulted by the wind and be feeling even more terrible. Not to mention the danger of the wounds being reopened, all that blood was nasty. Walking into the Eximius Lobby, which had hallways leading to the more public hospital rooms, Jekyll stopped as he saw a random man on one of the sitting couches. Nothing about him was special, except for the phone on his face, a very nice phone in fact. So nice, that Jekyll decided he wanted it and would have it.

Going over to the sleeping man, Jekyll tried to be as quiet as possible as to not wake him up. If he was in this Eximius Hospital, that meant he was either a Champion or Retired Champion, there was no way he was a doctor with that kind of attitude, and right now Jekyll wasn't in the state of body to react quickly to any attack. He might be able to talk himself out of the situation if given enough time, but if this person had recently been on Nectar, than they would be more volatile than he would like. Reaching the man with his tiny, silent steps, Jekyll used his bandaged hand, ignoring the numb burning from the movement, and picked up the phone lightly by the tip with his index finger and thumb. However, it was then that he realized that he did not have a pocket anywhere on his person, his regular cloths having been taken off in lieu of some Hospital Scrubs that were paper thin and didn't exactly come made with pockets.

Jekyll Translation: "Yeah, what are you looking at, huh? Yeah, my arms never healed, but I still have to get to my Champion. I heard he was in a bad fight with an Acid Bear, face all burned off and stuff."

Jason chuckled lightly, taking his seat across from her. He offered a warm smile, waving it off.

"Really, it's no big deal. Trust me, I've been fawned over way worse than that. No reason to be shy about it." he said, glancing up at the waiter.

"I'll have what she's having. Lemonade sounds good." he responded, glancing back over at the TV for a moment. It was showing highlights of his hunt, focusing on his fight with the Lummox.

"I always hate fighting those things." he said with a small chuckle, turning his eye back to her. He seemed to stare right through her, the tiniest of smirks playing on his lips.

"So, the gloves... Is that because of the Acid Bear?"

Katherine "Kat" Ariat

Eximus Restaurant

"I-Its just... Ive always been a huge fan! Of you and other Champions. While training to become one myself, Id see you guys on TV and be completely amazed! And standing before you guys with this hunt was almost like a dream! I want to be like you guys. Of course ill never be as good, you guys are waaaayyyy to great...." Kat caught herself and stopped talking for a moment,"Am i rambling? Im rambling arent I?" She looked down at her lap in shame. She didnt even give a chance for him to reply to the waiter, but when he finally did, she was suprised he got lemonade as well. Katherine took a quick gasp,'He likes lemonade too! We have something in common!' Her inner fangirl screamed from within.

The waiter replied with a nod to Jason's request and quickly left to retrieve it.

When Jason looked at the TV so did she. This time they changed to Champion focus to him. The Ghost girl blinked as she watched the hosts highlight his progress. 'Hes so cool...'

"I always hate fighting those things," his voice broke the silence. Green hair swayed a bit when she turned her gaze back to him,"Ive never cone across one before." She gave a small smile in response to his barely noticable smirks. She didnt quite understand the meaning behind the smirks he was throwing at her, but she went along with it. "Huh?" She looked down at her proportionately small hands when he pointed out the gloves,"Oh. Yeah, ha ha! Heres some advice: never touch an acid bear..." She raised a hand to her mouth as she giggled from the obvious tip. "It hurts a bit when i touch things or hold things, but it doesnt hurt too bad."

The waiter came back with Jason's drink and lightly set it on the table before taking out a notepad and pen,"What would you like to eat?"

"Oh! My favorite question!" She opened up the menu, realizing she never took a look at it,"Ummm...Hows your pasta here?" She spoke with out taking her eyes off the menu.

"Very delicious. Especially, our Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo." He smiled.

"Great! Ill take that!"

"Good choice. And you sir--"

"Wait wait! Im not done." Kat shook her head.

The waiter quickly shut his mouth and turned his body slightly back to her,"What else ma'am?"

"Uhhhh Ill also have a grilled steak, well done please. And um...a Chicken Ceasar Salad please!" She folded the menu and happily handed it to the waiter.

The waiter took the menu and stood in disbelief from all the food she ordered. He looked back to Jason,"And you sir?" He asked again.

Xerxes Turan

Eximus Hostpital

Would keep his arms crossed listening to the conversation until it appeared the pirate finally deciphered what Xerxes had said to him and the reply was as expected, snarky and almost annoying. It was a test, a psychological trick and both Jason and Iris were visually effected, but Xerxes knew having relations as champions never proved to work out well. As for the pirate's response he couldn't help it because it was who he was, a show-boat for the audience the type of champion that wants publicity more than he does honor, or money like some others. He gave off the impression he had no personal goal besides to only become a very famous champion. The motives well hid behind the mans actions of inviting them out to eat, perhaps it was a secretly growing hatred for them for showing him up in his own game, as the display from Roy and Iris far surpassed his display of electrical and physical strengths. Xerxes pondered these thoughts lightly as he was more focused on the state of the two champions, when he came across them they were still dire and the female barely conscious.

His eyes danced over the room again and rested momentarily on the now waking champion who had quite the display of skill during the hunt, that was when he heard the light voice of the small female before him. "Why yes, it was an eventful day. You two did well, you guys almost had no room for rest you should take this opportunity to take it slow." This was when his eyes gazed to the slowly approaching Roy. "Especially you." He'd say simply before uncrossing his arms and stepping forward into the room. He was like a phantom, no sounds heard even with the steps, and not even his breathing was audible if it wasn't for him speaking earlier he could pass as a hallucination. Roy would speak now spouting out a series of questions, three exactly to which he'd respond. "I am a veteran champion, if I hadn't helped you wouldn't been exhausted and drained early in the hunt as amount of Iseag would surely cause the use of line. Determining your condition and how you displayed yourself upon fighting the Bezin and Shockdra you wouldn't of hesitated if it meant protecting your friend here. As for why I am here, only to check up on you two and see nobody is bothering you guys." The words dripping out of his mouth like sweet honey-dew at a decent pace that left the listeners clinging on for more, his tone was much like listening to a dark poet describe a story of death.

Even as Xerxes spoke of assistance his voice could even fill those who trusted and knew him of fear and suspicion not to mention those cat-like eyes that felt like they pierced ones body and looked into the depths of their mind. This was when he grinned finally and revealed his gleaming pristine white fanged teeth. A continuous stream of mixed signals poured from Xerxes, speaking to him was much like trying to make your way through a visual maze without a line to indicate where you have already been, and the longer it takes to solve the maze the more false passages and walls appearing, before it'd become a jumble of lines causing mental disarray.
