No one is really sure of what happened in Republic city. The words of fleeing refugees are the only sources of information. Their stories vary wildly but all have several irrefutable facts in common. The Avatar has failed and Kuvira now reigns undisputed as the emperor of her new empire which has succeeded in driving the Republic inhabitants from their lands. Korra was defeated and publicly executed in the aftermath of the battle, many of the other great heroes have also been eliminated. Varrik and Julie are working for Kuvira under the influence of a whip, Su and Lin Beifong are imprisoned and Bolin, Mako and Asami are missing, assumed dead. The Air benders have relocated to the remnants of the Southern Air Temple. The survivors of Republic city have resettled within the Northern Air temple and it's surrounding lands.
A month after the Fall of Republic city the remaining three nations attend an emergency summit held in the Fire Nation Capital. It is there that the Treaty of Four Nations is Signed by Firelord Izumi, Prince Wu, Master Tenzin, President Reiko and Chief Tonraq to form the United Nations, a temporary alliance. The Treaty of Four Nations unified the remaining Nations who declared war on the Earth Empire and demand Kuvira's surrender to stand trial for her war crimes. Thus begins The Second Earth War.
Five more months later not much progress has been made besides a few footholds established by both sides in enemy territory. Most of the Battles so far have been taking part in the southern regions of the Earth Empire, where their forces are weakest and furthest away from their Mech super-weapon. Though in the North, just outside the great walls of Ba Sing Sei, on the shores of Lake Laogi lies on of Kuvira's many re-education camps. Here is where out tale begins.
