Fandom Avatar; The Cult of Abbadon

The trio made an uneventful passage through the city and directly to the Yahui Tea Shop. The tea shop had a few people in it, but no one of interest. It had appeared to be fairly traditional; the shop had some wear and tare signifying that it was older than the buildings beside it. A sweet aroma would fill your nostrils should you walk in, and several waiters and waitresses were more than eager to great you. The trio quickly made way to their table, which had four seats. Imp took his seat and gestured for the other two to join him. The young ambassador proceeded to lift the menu that stood at the table and scanned through it quickly. "I think I will help myself to a simple cup of Oolong tea. I do have somewhere to be in three hours," he said, before gently placing the menu back down at the table.

It would take some time for the waiter to arrive, so he figured it would be best to start their conversation. "So Miss Ulva, I did just want to hear about your experience as a medic. I have heard snippets from the soldiers, but not enough to sate my curiosity. What was your first encounter with this plague like?" He asked with no haste.

"And what precautions did you take to keep yourself from getting it?" He spoke again with a quick follow-up question. His eyes stared intensely at hers not in a way in which would be perceived as "romantic", instead he looked as if he were analyzing her. How the plague spreads is not precisely known. It is not exactly like the common cold, as those effected did not cough or sneeze excessively like other ailments. It appears randomly as well, although being in proximity with a carrier has been proven to be a way for it to spread.

Ulva looked around the city as they walked towards the tea shop drinking in the scale of the technology on display throughout. It was awe inspiring, she had lived in the largest city in the southern water tribe and it was nothing as big or varied. Though she had to admit it lacked a certain character, the mix of cultures leaving the city looking confunsed and nonsensicle. It felt cold and not in the way she was used to, must be living here but sensed not community or history. Maybe it was there and Ulva could see it or was too homesick for the igloos and ice of her home to appreciate her soroundings.

She kept these thoughs to herself trying not to offend her hosts and feeling slightly ashamed of having such thoughts considering her fame as a mediator and healer. The smell of the teashop as they entered eliminated the thoughts of her mind, as here she saw the true hidden culture in the city. She took the seat offered with a smile. "I will have the same I guess, whatever you recommend I have a bit to learn of other nations." She said with genuine curiosity but it didn't seem she would get her answer as topic quickly went to her and her work. Imp gave a simple nod to acknowledge her decision. After looking around to room for a few instances he saw that a waiter would soon reach their table after serving his current patrons. Although, Imp's greatest concern at the moment was the answers to his other two questions.

What was your first encounter with this plague like?

"Well... It was when an earth nation soldier was brought into my clinic by some of his friends. He was a man who seemed very agitated, complaining of intense migraines and sporting the trademark red eyes. Complaining about voices in his head telling him to do things... Murder and all that... It was nothing I have seen before... "She said clearly reciting something she found painful to recollect. "I tried my best to ease the pain with the water bending but nothing helped. He than just snapped attacking the people who had brought him... Two man had failed before I managed to put him down... It was like he was possesed, I was told the soldier was good man the real team player and loyal," she said. It was very apparent from her facial expression that the memory brought a lot of stress to her. "That sounds absolutely terrible," Imp said, in an attempt to console the women slightly. He frowned, trying his hardest to look sympathic. Half of the sympathy was genuine, the other half was a facade to disguise his elation towards the knowledge. "This disease is strange. I was starting to suspect that there was something more to it, as if it were manufactored. But, that just sounds like a random insanity driven murder to me," he said.

And what precautions did you take to keep yourself from getting it?

She paused for a moment. "Precations. Standard procedure: coverings for the mouths and eyes, proper cleaning, quarantines. " Than how did I still get infected? She thought. Imp nodded again, shaking his head knowingly. He was silent for a time, as his mind processed the information that was fed to him. "Yes, republic city is taking up very similar measures. I am happy to see that they work well," he said, quite pleased with her responses. The waiter had finally finished with the other patrons and appeared in front of their table. With a notepad in hand he asked the trio what they would like to order. "Two cups of Oolong tea, for me and Miss Ulva. And Laong would like a..." he stopped, prompting the corporal to answer.

Ulva waited for the corporal to answer and went to reply. "There is a problem with your measures. The red eyes you look for does not show until later in..." Ulva felt a jolt of pain in the center of her skull. She tried hard not to react to the pain as time seemed to move slower and everything had appeared as if it were going in slow motion. She gritted her teeth and knowing she will have to show distress eventually, she rubbed her forehead as having a mild headache. Gentle whispers had came at her from every direction, but none were loud enough for her to hear them. "kill" was the very first word that was audible. For whatever reason her focus seemed to be glued to the waiter that stood at the front of the table. None around had appeared to react to any of the voices, implying she was the only one who could hear them. "Him" a second word became clear to her. "kill him" the voices began to chant around her, growing ever louder. As the intensity picked up, so too did the pain in her head.

She tried to think straight, trying to make sense of the voice in her head and what wad happening. Was this the plague? She had migraines since the infection and thought she had heard voices which told her she might have contracted the plague but they were never this bad. Hearing the command she felt part of her wanting to obey, willing her hand to move to the water sack and impale the waiter with ice. She forced the urge and the pain with all her might, forcing her hand to hold on to her robe under the table. "No..." She thought. "I am no killer...I won't!"

Laong put a hand on her shoulder. "Hey, you alright?" He was starting to get suspicious, as he was listening to what she said before. His hand slowly let go of her, as he was still staring her down, casting a glance to Imp, to be sure he won't get close. "Ulva." Laong said, quiet but sounded more like was scolding someone. Military training sticks.

She could barely hear and feel Laong, his voice seemingly coming from far away and his touch was nothing compared to the pain. "Fine... Just... Been a long trip or something in the air is...I's making me feel a little woozy." She tried to say unsure how she sounded through the pain and this change in her vision. She tried to sound casual but she could be shouting at him for all sound he knew. "I am...I am going to go get some air." She said trying to stand.

"Is she alright?" The young waiter asked with worry in his voice. When Ulva heard him speak the pain was dispersed and time flowed logically again. "Sorry Miss Ulva, but I really think you should get some rest." Imp said concerned. "Sorry for taking you all the way out here when you're clearly exhausted, from the journey." Imp reached into his wallet and took out a generous amount of money, placing it at the table. "Really, let me and Laong escort you to where you need to be."

Ulva breathed a small sigh of relief as the pain seemed to break away like a washed away with waste. It took her a moment to process what was said to her and her mind getting used to the sudden fast forward of time, "eh... no...No sorry necessary, sir, i dont follow healer advice. Even my own." She forced a chuckle though she still felt shaken, " It was nice getting to see the city and I still hope we can have that tea another time. I just need directions to the nearest hotel."

With that information she bid the two men goodbye and made her way and found the hotel. Once alone inside the hotel she noted all she felt and and with the water in her water skin began trying to adjust her chi to help combat the plague. She tried to guide the chi in any channel she could find and know, there must be someway to cure this.

"Yeah, maybe..." Shiro muttered in a somewhat doubtful tone as he looked at the sky. Suddenly, he thought of an idea that the girl may not like, but he said it anyways, "Wanna go to Republic City Police HQ with me? We might get more information there and broaden our knowledge about this plaque." He stood up and looked at her as he waited for her reply. He wiped of the sweat off his forehead and tapped the dirt away from his back and the side of his long-sleeved shirt.

Shiro inhaled a bit of dirty plywood air as he thought about what would become the future of this world if the plaque becomes unstoppable and incurable. The benders would be drowned in insanity, and the avatar might either survive or not. There he goes again, into deep thought.
