The King's Army Attire
In the present day, humans revere Delphine Tremayne as a Saint. Children are told bedtime stories of a brave goddess that faced an army of elves that came for her magic, jealous with their own inferiority, and of how she defended her people and fought them off. A statue of Saint Delphine stands at the gates of Lullin, looking sternly down as those who seek to enter. Some even keep posters of Saint Delphine within their homes for good luck.
King Easton Tremayne is 23 years old. He took the throne at 19. Being descended directly from Delphine, he is assumed to be far above any other Aera in Arkadia, though the full extent of his magic and capabilities is unknown. It's rumored that, at the very least, he can control the four basic elements (water, wind, earth, and fire).

The Great Human-Elf war was the start of a downward spiral for the elves. Once Delphine won her one-sided war, she had her soldiers loot their former homes in the trees and claimed any knowledge and artifacts she found as rightfully hers. Today, the surviving pieces of elven history are kept on display in a library in Lullin. Nearly all the elves Delphine indentured or imprisoned after the war remained that way for the rest of their lives. Watching elves forced to serve Delphine or being touted around in chains fueled the idea that humans were the superior race, and the few who challenged this were denounced as half-bloods and written off. Most of elven blood were stripped of everything, with some even losing their names.
It was only when Victoria Tremayne was crowned (the 8th ruler, just before Easton) that she attempted to bridge the gap between human and elven kind by introducing laws meant to protect elves. She made elven slavery illegal, required elves to be given at least a basic education, and attempted (failed) to abolish the black market. Though those laws are in effect most towns (especially Sulwen) simply treat them as suggestions. Aera have the power to enforce the law, if they wanted, but most don't. As she was a Tremayne, no one dared to openly defy or question her decisions. Queen Victoria died in her early forties from natural causes (though the fact that her closest attendant was beheaded the day after makes this questionable).

Lullin
Before Delphine built Lullin, she created a wall; a towering ring made of white marble that encircled the bustling city within and made it nearly impossible to infiltrate. There are only two gates into Lullin at each dock, with two Aera guards to inspect anyone trying to enter. Outside each gate, a towering statue of Saint Delphine stands outside, looking down at her people.
At the center of the Crown City stands the Tremayne castle. Lullin is the most prosperous city in Arkadia.

Train Route
The railroad system (at its current level) is heavily unreliable. The train stops often to refill on coal, to clear debris from the track, or to let the engine cool if it overheats. One Aera soldier is on the train at all times, periodically patrolling each cabin to ask travelers for their identification. The conductor is also an Aera, though not a soldier. Most who choose the train do so to transport valuable goods safely (as carriages are easy targets for bandits), while a few do it to brag about the experience to their friends.
The mining towns of Hwen (lower) and Leeside (upper) reside along the train route.
