Nam Eun-Sang

남은상 15:02

I'm desperate for some drinks tonight. Who else is in?

Today had been… one hell of a day, that was for sure.

Nam Eun-Sang never wanted to step foot into the Seven-Eleven that he worked at ever again. Not after today. Because anything that could go wrong, did go wrong. Therefore, it was no surprise that by three in the afternoon he was ready to throw in the towel and call it quits. Announcing to the chat group that he was in need of some drinks, and pondering if anyone would join him. Honestly, he knew he didn’t need to ask. That lucky little handful in the group chat were always down to have a drink or two every Friday. After all, it was their little Friday night ritual at May Flowers Apartments.

But what was so bad about today that he had to resort to alcohol? Well, when he first arrived at work at six in the morning, there was a group of drunks just casually pissing on the front window. He had to be the one to clean it up as his boss barked at him for it – even though he hadn’t technically started work? And then come around eight in the morning, you had your school run come through. Most of the students were genuinely nice. But then you got a couple of little shits who thought they could get away with murder and proceeded to try and steal an array of chocolate. Seriously – out of everything in the store, they went for chocolate? The middle of the day was okay, despite the old ajumma from down the street coming in and almost breaking her freaking neck on the step coming up to the store. Oh, and the old lady who decided that it was his fault that they raised the price of cigarettes and proceeded to scold him for almost half an hour.

Just when things couldn’t get worse, the afternoon school run came through. Minutes after he was meant to finish work, a couple of thug teenagers came in trying to buy cigarettes. Which, of course, he refused because, you know… It was against the law. Well, it seemed like they didn’t like that answer and proceeded to pour their iced coffee all over the countertop and push over a stand of savoury chips. The bloody assholes did it five minutes right before he was meant to finish work as well. Did he finish on time? Of course not. Was he going to get paid for the overtime work, scrubbing the milk and picking up all those chips? It would’ve been heaven if he was, but sadly, the answer was also no.

And well, because he was late getting out of work, he had to cancel one of his… well… accountant appointments. It was only going to be a quick one hour job that would’ve paid enough money to keep the loan sharks at bay for another week. Alas, he was unable to attend and unable to perform his… accountant… duties.

So, this was what he needed. Sitting upon the rooftop, a cold beer in one hand and gazing out over Itaewon as the sun began its slow departure to kiss the land goodnight. All he was missing now was his group of drinking buddies to come and join him in his sorrowful drinking antics – oh, and chicken. Fried chicken always mended the wounded soul.

Yeong Mi-Sun

Mi-Sun burst through the roof door, or she would have had it not been so heavy. Normally it opened pretty easy. She crashed into it with her shoulder causing a loud bang. Then she remembered use the handle to open it. A miracle the woman made it up the stairs safely as drunk as she already was. Eventually managing to get the door to give into her demands she stepped, or rather stumbled onto the rooftop. "Eun-Sang! What are you doing herre you got number counting to do!" She said a bit too loudly before checking her phone. "Ohh it's Friday." she murmured to herself. The girl was always working, usually temporary work, two to three jobs at a time, usually babysitting or helping a local elderly couples with their varying businesses, be they small corner stores, tea shops, resturants, etc. People were always looking for a helping hand and Mi-Sun was terrible at saying no. She would often end up coming home just to change and move to the next job, and she had gotten used to seeing people come and go from the apartments according their own schedules, she was aware of Nam Eun-Sang leaving at night on the regular for his 'accounting job' but she never had the time to pry any more than that.

In her other hand was a large bottle of Soju, although it was already almost empty, having taken...Many shots... Before making her way up. She was a lightweight when it came to alcohol and even Soju was more than enough to get her completely wasted rather quickly. "Anyway..." She said before beginning to continue her way to her neighbor, not continuing her sentence however, being too focused on grabbing a shot glass from a nearby makeshift-crate-table and taking another hard shot before setting the bottle aside surprisingly. Mi-Sun took out her phone again, staring intensely at it for a moment, not entirely sure if she was doing... Whatever she was doing correctly, eventually opening her instagram page and shoving her phone screen in Eun-Sang's face. "You see that?! Only twenty eight likes! I got fifty on the last one in the same amount of time, so what gives?!" She yelled with obvious frustration behind her incredibly flushed cheeks. "Aish!" She cursed plopping herself down on a chair, grabbing the small blanket on the armchair then throwing her over her face to hide her shame of failure, groaning grumpily for a moment.

Pulling off the blanket she stared at her neighbor for a moment with a sour scowl before unsuccessfully trying to give an seductive look in her drunken annoyed stupor. "I'm cute right oppa?" Mi-Sun batted her eyelashes way too many times. She only ever called someone Oppa when she was trying to suck up to them, usually for self affirmation. Though instead of waiting for a response, the girl got up and shuffled her way over to the man and promptly sat down his lap half heartedly and rather forcefully. Still... It wasn't as impactful as it should have been. Mi-Sun was light as a feather, she hadn't been eating again. Excusing it on a 'star's diet' but really she was simply too afraid to spend the money she had on food if she didn't feel it was absolutely necessary, like her Soju.

... su-bin ...
MOOD

frustrated- working is exhausting
LOCATION

rooftops

Su-Bin, like many others who were living not-so-luxeriously in the apartment complex, ended up home after a painfully long day of making ends meet. She had not only been taking classes at the university of Seoul during the day, working her regular shift at a convenience store, on top of her work at an underground tattoo shop, which only sometimes got clients. Today, however, just so happened to be a follow up sitting with a client. They were in to finish a mural-like design on their back - her favorite kind of work, however the conditions made it less than amazing, given how secretive they had ot be about it. She was paid at the end, which would allow Su-Bin to let up on hours for a week or two, more if she got another few clients.

The commute home was blissfully long, as she had to stop to deposit her cash and had decided to grab food on the way. Unfortunately, she had to also listen to an argument at the second stop, the participants of which also decided to take the same trip, and continue the "discussion." She eventually zoned it out by checking her phone and deciding what she would be drinking that night.

Stopping by her living space for no more than five minutes, she had noticed the text from Eun-Sang during transit on the way home. As such, she changed into her pajamas, being light grey sweats and a black tee with some cartoon character on the front.

Making her way to the rooftops with a wine bottle in hand and phone in pocket, she arrived in the midst of her cousin questioning her own appearance toward Eun-Sang. "I think you put too much value in those little numbers," she said, popping the cork and gulping down half a glasses' worth. She then set it down to pull out her phone and snap a photo of the scene, capturing the busy city in the background of two sillhouettes, as if the conversation was suddenly over with her declaration, and began tweaking the photo. "Maybe I'll get hired for a photoshoot again, that's always more fun than sitting around and selling candies for hours on end."
