Ashlin landed her ship in the landing pad of Mos Eisley after getting a message from Fennec Shand. She wondered to herself as to why Fennec wanted her on Tatooine. They haven't seen each other in a while, the last time was when Ashlin helped Boba Fett with Fennec, who was dying from a gut wound. They then took her to a Mos Eisley mod parlor, where her life was saved with cybernetics. In return, Fett requested Shand and Ashlin's help to break into the palace, that was ruled by Bib Fortuna.

She stepped out of her ship and walked towards Jabba's palace. Her eyes noticed 2 Gamorrean guards, stood outside of the place. They aimed their guns at her and she put her hands up in surrender. Knowing they probably couldn't understand her, she spoke out to them anyways,
"Hey. I'm here to talk to Fennec Shand. She appointed me to see Boba Fett."

It looked like they understood her as they informed her to follow them into the palace.

---------

Din Djarin arrived in his usual landing pad in Mos Eisley where Peli Motto was waiting for him and Grogu. He stepped out of his N-1 Naboo Starfighter and gave Grogu to Peli.
"You want me to take care of this little guy whilst you're here?" She asked him. "You going to visit someone?"

All he could do was nod slowly. He was going to visit Boba Fett and talk about getting a job. Now that he had the Darksaber from Moff Gideon and somehow Grogu came back to him, he wasn't sure what to do, so he thought that getting a little job with Boba would let him decide what to do in the future.

The two Gamorrean guards led her down the stone hallways, seemingly straight towards Boba and Fennec. Boba was reclined on his throne, chatting idly with the other woman, his helmet on his knee.

He had cleared the throne room in anticipation of Ashlin's arrival, and were now joking and having a relaxed conversation together. Boba turned when the heard the guards open the doors for Ashlin, and he smiled. "You made it! Come in." He nodded to the guards, dismissing them, so it was just the group of three. "How are you doing?"

Peli always seemed glad to watch Grogu, even if it wasn't always convenient for her or Din. Grogu waved a little hand towards Din, seeming to understand that his father was going off for a while.

The walkways were a bit crowded, most people were getting off work, excited to hit the cantinas and get drinks, relax after a long day. Alyse wished she could leave the cantina and relax, but she learned long ago that running was just a dumb idea, so as she organized the bar she was at, she braced herself for another long night.

Ashlin raised an eyebrow at Boba's sudden casual interaction with her. She thought he would be more insecure and reserved, not being open like this. She cleared her throat, replying to his question. "I am doing well. I have thought about the opportunity that you laid out for me. And I have to say, Fennec did make the job sound more adventurous and interesting, to say the least." She chuckled slightly as she adjusted her hearing aid in her left ear.

________________

Din walked through the walkways, just realising that his throat was a bit dry. The last drink he had was on Navarro after visiting Greef Karga. He stumbled upon a Cantina and walked in. The cantina went silent upon his entrance. It's like they haven't seen a Mandalorian in their whole lives. Din rolled his eyes as he continued to walk in, his eyes settling on the ash blonde woman in front of him.

"Excuse me? May I get a glass of Spotchka?" He asked the woman as he sat at the bar counter, resting an arm on the counter and sighing, his mask covering his natural voice.

"Well, Fennec does have a way with words." Boba chuckled softly, standing up, still holding the helmet in one hand. "Mostly you'll be watching for trouble makers during business hours, making sure no one gets in or out unauthorized."

He wasn't going to just thrust her into a more robust position right away. "And other duties as needed. You're welcome to get a room here in the palace, or live in town if you'd prefer that." He reached into a belt pocket at his side and produced a small bag of credits. "Here's a month's pay to get you started." It was a generous amount, one thing that was clear about Fett was he at least treated people well, and gave them what they earned.

_______________

"Sure thing." Alyse said, giving Din a smile that didn't reach her eyes, nor cover her exhaustion. She quickly poured the drink, passing it to him. "Can't remember the last time we saw a Mandalorian around here." She remarked as she set his drink down.

"Lemme guess, here for work? Tracking down some bounty?" Alyse inquired, since the bar was slower she had a moment to talk with him, he absolutely captured her intrigue.

Ashlin took the credits hesitantly as she put them in her pocket. "Thank you. I wish for a room here. I feel like taking a trip from town to here would be hard for me, especially without any land transport." She explained to him. "I will do my best to be by your side and protect the citizens of Mos Eisley." She did wish that Boba put her in a role that was more adventurous and dangerous, she was a bounty hunter. She was built for that kind of thing. She was quite disappointed about the outcome.

"I'm here to visit Boba Fett. I just needed a drink first before I make my way over there." Din explained to her as he lifted his helmet to drink the Spotchka, but not enough to show his face. He then noticed a bowl of blue macarons and put some in his pocket for Grogu to eat later. He then put a few credits on the counter, some for the macarons as well as, a tip for Alyse. "Thank you." He said to her before slowly getting up from the stool.

Boba nodded. "That's fine. Just be prepared. A good few of the smugglers can get handsy and rowdy after a few drinks." He warned, and nodded to Fennec.

"Open the gates again, Din will probably be here soon. May as well get as many people out of the way as we can." He huffed, and looked back at Ashlin. "Work the crowd, keep everyone from getting crazy."

_________

"It's no problem." Alyse smiled a bit brighter, most people didn't thank her. Her boss walked by and snatched up the payment, tip and all, putting it in the jar behind her.

"Don't get lazy, rush hour is soon." He snapped, and Alyse pulled her hair back with a small wince as he walked off. The slave mark on her neck was plainly visible as she picked up Din's empty glass.

Ashlin just nodded as she walked outside of the gates, moving the crowds out of the way of when Din gets here. She has already met the Mandalorian already when he helped Cobb and herself with slaying a dragon. Now it would be their second meeting. Her mind went to Boba. How did he escape that Sarlacc pit exactly, she wondered. No one was able to survive it before he did. As she stood there, her eyes kept gazing at Boba.

Was she falling for him? No. No she wasn't, she kept saying to herself. But it was clearly not true.

Din noticed the mark on her neck and instantly knew what it was. She was a slave, for this piece of trash? Din thought to himself as he heard the little interaction between the woman and the cantina owner. He thought slavery ended after the whole war with Luke Skywalker, but he thought wrong. He thought to himself before going up to the cantina owner.

"Hey. I need to borrow her for the rest of the day." Din pointed at the blonde woman. "Boba's orders. He needs her to deliver some milk to the palace. I'm her escort, to keep her safe." He explained to the owner, hoping he would buy the instant lie coming from his mouth.

Fennec did the same as her, just keeping a general eye on everyone, acting as a visual deterrent to keep ideas of trouble out of people's minds. Boba reclined back in his throne, getting comfortable before he waved the first person in line to hear them.

After a bit, Fennec walked over to Ashlin with a smirk. "Want to have a little fun? Do a slow walk up to Boba and stare at the smugglers. They're already freaked out by being in front of him, they get doubly so when they see us."

__________

For the most part, after the war and with Boba on the throne now, a good number of slaves had been freed, but unfortunately not all of them. And when Din said he was here to escort her on Boba's orders, her jaw nearly dropped.

The cantina owner hesitated, he hadn't heard anything about someone from the palace coming for a bulk order...but who was he to turn down easy money? "You heard the Mandalorian! Grab two crates and get going!" He snapped, sending Alyse scrambled to the back, returning with two crates holding bottles of blue milkm

Ashlin smiled at the idea, nodding at her suggestion. They then both walked up to Boba, facing the smugglers and staring at them. One of them noticed her lightsaber hilt on the belt wrapped around her waist. Her eyes narrowed at the smuggler, putting her hands on her waist. She told them mentally to keep their eyes off of it. That was her lightsaber and no one deserves to wield it, except her.

Her eyes then wondered inbetween Boba and the one of the smugglers as they tried to argue with the bounty hunter. She shook her head at the pathetic argument they were having. Have the money that was offered to you, or get nothing. Simple as that.

"You want me to throw them out chief?" Ashlin asked Boba, giving him a nickname suddenly, so it looks like she was working for him.

As Din let the woman follow him out of the place, he then turned around, putting his hands on his waist. "Put the crates down. You don't need them." He told her, out of the range of the owner's ears. "I was getting you out of an situation that you looked uncomfortable in. You are coming with me to Boba's palace for now. To take a break." He explained to her.

Bobe glanced over at Ashlin, seeming to ponder her question under his helmet as he tilted his head. "Yes. And he gets half the payment for the way he looked at you." He decided, waving a hand to a guard, who gave the man his money.

"I suggest you leave before I let her take over." He warned, and the smuggler scrambled off quickly. Once he was out of earshot, Boba laughed. "Oh, that was excellent. Fennec was right about you." He said with a grin. "You'll do well here."

_________

Alyse hesitated after setting the crates down. Take a break? What kind of nonsense was that? "Jarid is...always like that. I've been with him long enough to know how to avoid punishment, he's just mouthy." She said softly. It was a nice sentiment from the Mandalorian, however. A break would be nice.

As she followed Din up the sandy path to the palace, she wondered how it felt to be one of the slaves freed from Fortuna's grasp by Fett. She heard he'd freed everything single slave that was there...and she was instantly jealous. "My name is Alyse, by the way..."

Ashlin looked away, trying not to let Boba see her blush. She cleared her throat, trying to keep her composure in front of him. "Thank you... chief." She nodded, giving him the nickname yet again. She noticed Fennec looking at her and she gave her a look, trying to keep her mouth shut.

"Is that all of them chief?" She asked him, trying not to yawn in front of them and show any weakness. She was taught that showing weakness was the worst thing in the bounty hunter career.

"Alyse..." Din repeated to get the name in his head. Should he give out his name? "Din. Din Djarin." He eventually said after a moment. As long as he doesn't remove his helmet again, he was safe. A name is fine for now.

He knocked on the door, as soon as they arrived at the palace. He put a message out to Peli to bring Grogu to Boba's place, she didn't have to do it herself, she could put the location in the cradle and get one of her droids to accompany it, just in case something happened to Grogu. Alyse is the only one who hasn't met Grogu as Boba, Ashlin and Fennec help protecting him from Moff Gideon and the Dark Troopers.

Boba was still mulling over whether or not he liked the nickname, but he did notice her growing tired. "Yes. Din is here, so unless you want to stay and be friendly I'm sure Fennec can show you to your new accommodations."

"Anything you say...chief." Fennec teased Boba, who snorted.

"Watch it." He retorted back, standing from his throne as he heard Din's armor echoing down the hall.

______

Din? Alyse thought to herself, a simple name, but it suited him. She stayed behind him, keeping quiet and her head low. Even if she was on a break she didn't want to step out of place around the Daimyo or the man showing her so much kindness.

She was surprised however when a large, hovering cradle caught up with them just outside the common room doors. "Um...Din? There's a baby?"

"It's fine. I am getting tired from today. I can always greet him tomorrow." Ashlin nodded as she yawned a bit more. She then chuckled at Fennec's teasing as she walked with her to her room. "Good one." She then chuckled a bit more as the door to her room opened. She looked around the room and took off her belt and jacket, putting on a chair nearby the bed. She noticed Fennec eyeing up her lightsaber, she hasn't seen Ashlin use it yet.

"I don't know why people keep looking at this thing." Ashlin said, picking up her lightsaber and holding it in her hands.

"Oh, don't worry, he's mine. This is Grogu. I kinda adopted him." Din said to her as he turned towards the cradle, bringing it nearer to him. "Grogu, be nice to Alyse." Din told the baby as Grogu cooed and doing grabby hands at her. He chuckled slightly. "I think he wants you to hold him." As the palace doors opened, Din walked towards the main area where Boba was waiting for him.

"Well, Maker only knows the last time anyone saw a Jedi around here." Fennec replied, leaning against the doorframe. "And it's not like we really run into a lot of Lightsaber users just hanging around. It's rare, special."

She watched as Ashlin held the hilt in her hands. "And no one really expects a Jedi and a Mandalorian to be working together either, I imagine."

_______

"Your son?" Alyse blinked as she carefully scooped him up, grinning. "Stars, you are so adorable." She cooed, happily cuddling him as she followed Din into the room where Boba Fett was waiting.

"Djarin! Long time no see." Boba called as he walked to greet his friend. "And you brought Grogu." He smiled, setting his helmet down to pat the little guy's head, making him giggle. "And a friend? You're Mr. Popular today." He teased

"I'm not a Jedi. I'm not a Sith. Most people who use a lightsaber don't have the Force." Ashlin explained. "I rarely use this thing. Don't know why people still believe that only Force users have the ability to use a saber." She shrugged her shoulders as she placed the hilt next to her on the bed.

She then felt a surge going through her ear, making her groan in pain.
"Kriff..." She then took it out of her ear, making her not hear a thing in her left ear. "Hey. Do you think you or Boba could fix this? I just felt like a electric surge going through this thing."

"This is Alyse. She's a local... labourer at the cantina in town." Din explained as he went closer to Boba. He didn't like using the word 'slave', so he liked to use different words to make the situation better. "Her owner was kind of... money-obsessed as soon as I tried to get her out of here." He said to Boba, shaking her head slightly. He didn't really like the slave trade on Tatooine, as much as the next person on the planet.

Hopefully Boba could do something about it.
"I have my suspicions though. I think Bib Fortuna has something to do with all of this."

"Yeah, I can have it sent down to the workshop, I'm sure someone can get it working." Fennec nodded, carefully taking the hearing aid and pocketing it. "Hopefully by morning they'll have it working. Sleep well." She smiled and headed off to give her her privacy.

Fennec went straight to the repair workshop and told them to get this repaired as fast as well as possible, preferably by morning if it was doable, before going back to the meeting room.

______

"Well she wasn't one of the ones here...but I can't extinguish the entire trade overnight." Boba admitted, frowning a bit. "But I can help her if that's what you want." He glanced over at the girl as she played with Grogu, grinning as the baby giggled happily.

"I can pay for her freedom, but her best bet is to get off world. Can you transport her?" He asked, looking over Din again.

Ashlin nodded. She watched Fennec's lips, trying to understand what she was saying. Her hearing wasn't very good without her hearing aid in, so she had to rely on either lip-reading or sign language. She understood if Fennec didn't know how to sign, at least someone in this place knew how to. Boba.

"Can you tell Boba that he might have to use sign language to communicate with me? I might not be able to hear him properly." Ashlin called out to her, she thought it was a better idea than Boba trying to shout at her for not listening to him. "Just in case he comes in."

"I'll try my best, but I'm not sure where is the safest place for her... well I got two places, but I will have to check with my accomplices first." Din explained, obviously talking about Navarro and Sorgan. Sorgan was a planet with a quiet little village he helped fend off villagers. he then got out his hologram to contact Greef Karga about the situation.

"The only problem is that I don't have a lot of room on my ship. There is only 2 seats and one of them is specifically for Grogu. She won't be able to fit." Din continued to add. "If you want me to transport her there, then she will need to find another way to get there."

"Will do!" Fennec called from the hallway, knowing Boba could always message her as well if he really needed to. Tomorrow would be a lot busier, so hopefully her hearing aid would be finished.

Fennec retreated to her own bedroom after dropping off the small device, yawning as she put on a holoshow to relax.

________

"Din, look at her. She can take care of Grogu for a few days in transport." Boba shook his head. "The kid adores her, he can sit in the cradle while she takes copilot." Boba sat down on his throne, resting a moment. He was still healing quite a lot.

"Besides, if you have a sitter for a while you can pick up some jobs on the way, make some money. I'll set you up with some extra food and supplies on her behalf."
