Magpie

Name: Miya Gezelius

Nickname: Maggie

Age: 19 y/o

Gender: Female

Height: 160 cm (~5’3”)

Weight: 50 kg (~110lbs)

Appearance:

Miya stands slightly shorter than the average woman her age, and she weighs just slightly less than what is average for a woman her age and length. Despite this, she is fairly athletic built thanks to all cross country skiing she’s been doing. Her, sort of long, black hair is smooth and always well-kept. She often wears it out, letting it frame her angelic face, which she tends to treat with some make-up. She usually paint her eyelashes and eyebrows dark to compliment her deep-blue eyes. The colour of her eyes along with the few freckles scattered over her nose and cheeks are the only tell-tale signs of her Scandinavian heritage.

Style:

Miya usually dresses in some sort of edgy rocker kind of fashion. Her most common wear would look something like this: Converse shoes, dark leggings under jeans shorts, a sleeveless oversize t-shirt and a leather jacket. However, her style is far from without exceptions, as she likes to vary her outfits in all manner of ways. The one rule she seems to follow is to keep it all black and white, seeming to avoid colourful clothes and accessories (other than her beanie hat, which is a clear red colour).

Costume:

Despite not being a commercial heroin, Magpie does still have a costume. It consists of whatever clothes she happens to be wearing, with a few additions: A couple of big, pointy, leather boots with metal details, her artificial wings which are covered with black and white feathers, and a beaked leather-mask. She often carries a satchel with tools (lock-picks and stuff), and almost always carries a concealed dagger inside he left boot.

Her mask has a built-in blue-tooth headset which connects to her cell-phone. This allows for her to use several applications of her cell-phone while flying. But in all honesty, it's mostly used for playing music while she flies longer distances.
Personality:

The first impression of Miya is often that she is to be regarded as a friendly, cheerful and easy-going person that is open-minded and always up for a laugh. She enjoys having fun, is sociable and curious, and can come across as both flirty and inviting. But the more you hang around her the more obvious it becomes that she has a down-side as well, as she finds much joy in trying to fool other people into doing stupid things or from being bad or naughty in one way or another. She is prone to break rules, and make others follow her bad example when she can.

However, her happy exterior is but a facade, Miya is actually suffering from a bit of depression. She has a strong feeling of the world being unfair, and that she is one of the unlucky people in it. This feeling is something which always grows on her, making her very dark and gloomy after being around other – “lucky” – people for too long. As a result of this, she has a need to seek solitude quite regularly to pick herself up. If not being left alone in times of need, she becomes very aggressive. The worse she feels about herself, the less any form of morals will apply to her.

On a side note, she also is keen to steal things that she doesn't even need, especially if they're shiny. She is really a borderline kleptomaniac. She will try to steal things just for the thrill of it as well.

Fears:

Fear of dogs. The biggest fear Miya knows is that of dogs and other similar creatures. This comes from her being attacked by a dog when she was a little girl (an event that triggered her powers!) She's had reoccurring nightmares of dogs and wolves ever since, and this has made her fear grow into a slight hatred. She despises canine creatures and the people that owns them. She will take detours to avoid passing by bigger dogs in the street, and recoils at the sound of a dog barking.

History:

Miya grew up in northern Sweden, and was the only child to two rather wealthy parents. Her father, Oscar, was an engineer and professor at the Luleå University of Technology. Her mother, Yana, works outside of town, and is the head of a mining corporation that had been in her family for ages.

Miya had the misfortune to be picked on in school, and she grew angry and impossible every once she would be forced to go there. It didn’t take long before she started skiving and went about exploring in the town centre or the woods instead of going to class. During her walks in the forest she started exploring her abilities. Her parents figured out that this was not working out – the solutions was home schooling. And it worked! Miya turned out to be a clever girl who learned eagerly and quickly. Though, her escapades in the town centre continued.

She was a spoiled girl that got almost all things she desired, but despite this she was constantly finding herself stealing things whenever she went into town. Mostly jewelry and coins, but also cutlery and other various items, as long as the where shiny or pretty. She kept anything she snatched in a shoe-box under her bed. She had no idea why she did this, and often pondered it herself during the years and as the number of shoe-boxes beneath the bed grew.

When she was old enough to begin the gymnasium (The Swedish equivalent to High School) home schooling was no longer possible in such a small town. And as such, she was sent to a private school in Stockholm. Here she had no problem with bullies, and by acting secure she instead became one of the more popular girls at her school.

In Stockholm she soon got in contact with the wrong sort of crowds and learned how to put her thievery skills to use. Before long she lived a double life: Day spent on studies and being a popular but exemplary student, and spent nights and weekends doing break-ins all over the city. Always looking for the next adrenaline-high which often came with a successful burglary attempt.

Family:

Oscar Gezelius, deceased father. Oscar was killed in a plane crash when Miya was 15 years old. Oscar was always keen to protect his daughter from bullies and thus the one to arrange home schooling. He knew about her abilities and promised to help her figure out how to live her life with them.

Yana Gezelius, Mother. Yana survived the plane crash and even today she claims that the plane was fired upon before it went down. Yana and Miya have a sort of problematic relationship ever since Miya left for Stockholm. Yana does not approve of her new friends and attitude. Yana was never told about her daughters special abilities.

Mentor:

Oscar Gezelius, deceased mentor. Even though Oscar was only ever giving Miya advice on living a normal life with her ability, his inventions and ideas abled become what she is today. So, in a way he staked her path to a criminal life, even if unintentionally.

Friends:

Mika Heino, childhood friend. Mika was the only child in Miya’s school that ever stood by her side. He was also picked on, which is why the two bonded. He is one of the few that knows about Miya’s powers.

Erik Sahlquist, classmate. Erik was one of Miya’s classmates in Stockholm, and the one who introduced her to the criminal underground. He, just as Miya, appeared to be a good kid, well-off and doing well in school. But he too spent nights doing crime. He has been in love with Miya ever since he laid eyes upon her. Not that she ever let him close.

Lina Sahlquist, classmate. Erik’s twin sister. She was the one who always kept Erik and Miya’s studies in check. Helping them with assignments and covering for them in class if they were to tired to get up in the mornings due to their nightly escapades.
Ability:

Flight. Miya can, at will, defy gravity and take off in flight. In order to enhance this ability she has a pair of artificial wings that helps her build speed and gain altitude quickly. They also help her control her movement better when flying.

Limits: Though she can fly even without the wings, her flight-ability is very limited without them. She has a hard time controlling where she is going unless she is moving really slowly.

History of Ability: What she knows she’s had the ability ever since she first noticed it on one of her walks in the forest. It came natural to her when she had to get away from a loose Rottweiler that chased attacked her. After that incident she trained both in solitude and with her father in order to learn to control her ability. When she was fifteen she her father died, and she inherited a pair of mechanical wings that her father had made for her, and with their aid she could truly master her powers and take to the skies!

Skills: Miya is fairly athletic from all the cross country skiing she’s done in her life, giving her decent strength and stamina to go. But her biggest perk would be her nimble moves and agility, allowing her to be very sleight of hand and to move silently and stay hidden, something she’s mastered from numerous thefts and burglary episodes.

Aside from that she knows well how to use her womanly charm and beauty to get what she wants.

Weapons: In case of emergency Miya carries a small dagger. It’s always concealed in her left boot. She very seldom needs to draw it, and has only had to use it once in her life.
Miya Gezelius

First Flight
The subarctic forest was as tranquil and beautiful as forests get, completely covered in a thick blanket of white snow as where it in a fairytale. It was early April, and the sun dominated the completely blue sky. In short – it was the perfect day to go skiing!

At the waterfall, known as Laupafallet, only two skiers were in sight. But they weren't there for the splendid nature, the majestic frozen waterfall, or for skiing at all – they were there to test out a pair of mechanical wings!

With the wings strapped to her back, Miya had made her way up stream. Now she stood there, on the frozen stream with the, just as frozen, waterfall at the end of the steep slope in front of her. “No, I'll be fine, I'm sure it'll work! Just ready to camera!” She snapped back at whoever was on the receiving side of her cell-phone.

“Ready? OK, Here I go!”

With a staking series she started downhill, quickly gaining speed as she was heading towards the waterfall. Her pulse was racing, and her heart was beating much like a hammer against an anvil as she approached 30 feet high cliff. The fifteen-year-old closed her eyes as her skis left ground and began their journey off the cliff.

She prepared to slowly lower herself to the frozen pond below, but there was no need! For her wings spread out wide and caught wind! She opened her eyes and saw the forest disappear below her as she started soaring higher, and higher! “Look Mika! It's working!”

Nothing to regret...
It was a late saturaday-night in Stockholm, and the moon had decided on hiding behind the dark clouds that loomed over the city. It was a romantic setting somehow as they stood there by the railing on the balcony dance-floor. And that was the idea; let him think whatever he wanted, and then get hold of the key-card from his inner pocket. It was a simple maneuver, she had done once or twice before. As the several years older man leaned in to kiss her, she slipped her hand inside his jacket and snatched the key-card, and by the looks of it he hadn't noticed.

The man, who was a section manager at major corporation in the city, soon called for his driver to take him and his lady companion home for the night, and leave the fancy sky-bar club behind. But as he spoke on the phone and looked away for a brief moment, Miya sneaked away and hurried for the elevator. She made her way up on the roof and promptly went to the air-duct where she had hidden her gear; wings, boots and mask. She let out a sigh of relief when she found that they were still there. After all, it was a huge risk just leaving them for anyone to find (not that many people went about looking in air-ducts. But still!)

When she had put the gear on and readied herself for take-off, she heard footsteps coming up from behind her. Turning around, she saw the man from before standing there. He held a gun in his hand, but it was the anger in his eyes that truly struck fear in Miya. “You have something that belongs to me.” His voice was calm, but a touch of annoyance or anger added into it as he continued: “You know, you could've woke up in one of the best-looking apartments this city has to offer tomorrow. But now... Now you won't wake up tomorrow at all!” The angry (but luckily tipsy) man then raised the gun, and fired.

The bullet planted itself in the brick-wall behind her, only a few inches to Miya's left. She knew there was no time to hesitate; the man was actually going to kill her if he got the chance. Flight was too dangerous; even if the man clearly wasn't an ace at aiming, one bullet could end her or at the very least send her falling to the streets below. So, Miya made a snap-decision which would bring results to haunt her for a long time to come. With a flap of her wings she lunged towards the man at the same time as she drew the dagger she had hidden in her boot... First blood she ever drew, and no more since…

Ronni WIP

Appearance: Ronni has moderately sharp features that soften when he smiles. He has freckled skin, copper colored hair, and piercing white/blue eyes. They used to be a lovely sapphire like his mother, but after the car accident and losing his sight, they became almost white- causing those who see him to usually guess he's blind. He likes to try and trick people out of thinking so, by trying to look at them while they're talking and so on.

His hair is a mess. He attempted to style it and care for it at one point but whenever he tried he usually got laughed at by family members and school mates so... he usually runs a comb through it in the morning and calls it good. Not like he can see it anyway. And his friends usually call it 'the not even trying style'. Every now and then, like for special occasions, Ronni will ask for help with his hair... but most of the time he doesn't really care how it looks as long as it isn't causing him trouble by getting hair into his eyes or getting tangled in something.

Style: Style is a bit difficult for Ronni to explain. He likes clothing because of the way it feels against his skin and how warm or cool it is... but he has no idea how any of it looks. He's not fond of jeans, denim or otherwise, from what his parents have to say. He doesn't understand why anyone likes the rough, restrictive fabric. He prefers either khakis or slacks- the clothing is soft and allows for free movement. As far as shirts go Ronni has a love for long sleeved turtle neck sweaters- his mother usually picking out dark colors that will apparently make his eyes and hair stand out? Though he's been told multiple time not to mix khakis and turtle necks he still does when he feels like those are the comforts he wants. Most of the time though, it's turtlenecks and slacks or it's a t-shirt and khakis. When it gets colder he has a dusty brown windbreaker that he's rather fond of.

Costume: This is a Work in Progress- Ronni has only picked out his super hero name... and he's going to need help figuring out an outfit considering he has no style sense. And it's going to have to be something he can get into and out of quickly and easily.
Personality:

Ronni has a fairly calm way of being. He's not the first to react to negative or positive situations, nor is he the last. His responses tend to be fairly calculated, since impulsivity really hurt him and his family when he was younger. He is very cautious of others, paying attention to how they are feeling and doing what he can to make them feel better or at least comfort them, mostly catching this in the tone of their voice or the words they use. He's especially talented at it when it comes to his friends, knowing characters and movies they like and mimicking them accordingly.

He also has the tendency not to back down even in dangerous situations. He would rather face trouble head on then attempt to run from it or defeat it another way. He focuses on being other people's rock, since he grew up being the rock that created the devastation at home- something his parents could hold onto, but also something that they would often keep a bit distant.

It's not often that Ronni is open about his feelings or thoughts, except with someone who's very close to him and who he trusts completely.

Fears:

Rejection/Loss

He's afraid that his family will cut ties with him if he really starts using his ability to mimick. He's also terrified of losing or harming someone else with his ability. It's a fear that he kind of grew into once he understood what had really happened in the car crash, and it's something that he's very careful about now- he tries to never mimic anything around his family anymore. He also never lets anyone onto the fact that he can mimic anything he hears, even sounds he hears and his mind doesn't register like a dog whistle. He pretty much fears his ability's possibility of building distance between him and other people.

Going Deaf

Ronni also has a fear of an accident causing him to lose his hearing. In the car accident it had taken awhile for the buzzing to leave his ears and allow him to hear again and of all his childhood memories, that is the darkest and most terrifying. Those few horrible moments when he was unable to hear even his own breath as it whooshed out of him.

Vehicles

It’s not a terrible fear- he still goes for rides in vehicles. It’s kind of unavoidable… especially when you’re blind (can’t really get a bicycle and there’s only so far one can walk). He just get’s really nervous, no matter who’s driving or how well… he is very happy when the car rides are over. He’s been learning to cope by sleeping through them as of late.

History:

Born into a loving family in the middle of summer in beautiful Montana, Ronni immediately became the pride and joy of his family with the way he picked up on sounds and phrases. It was almost uncanny- a month after being born he was already repeating whole sentences, not just words and random sounds. The weird part for his parents was that he never seemed to understand what he was saying. He also had a great time mimicking noises he heard: voices off of the television, bird songs, the clicking of a camera. Since his parents had never raised a child before they thought the boy's talent endearing and normal, if a tad bit advanced.

Life advanced fairly well for Ronni, life being absolutely fantastic. At the age of 5 his parents told him that he would be getting a little brother or sister soon. It took a long time for Ronni to actually understand what was being said to him but once he did excitement like Ronni had never felt flooded his system, and he sang and mimicked the most enthusiastic of sounds. He still didn't seem to have a strong concept of what words were, mimicking the sounds and voices of his parents with almost perfect clarity but not seeming to understand what they were saying exactly. During a car trip, when his mother was in her second trimester, his father attempted to use cards to try and get him to comprehend the words he was so adept at speaking.

"Bird." Ronni's father, Tim, said, gesturing to an image of a bird.

"Bird." Ronni repeated. Tim removed the card, shuffling through a few more, before bring the bird back.

"What is it?" He said, gesturing to the bird.

"What is it?" Ronni repeated.

"No, Ronni. No. What is it? What's on the card?"

"No, Ronni. No." Ronni mimicked, his head tilting to the side.

"Come on Ronni, Think." He said. He could feel his father’s frustration with him, and could feel his own anger growing. He didn’t understand. What did his father want from him? They had always loved his mimicking… but now it just seemed to anger his father. Where other kids would have let out a wail, Ronni mimicked a sound he felt would explain how he was feeling and he did so loudly- calling upon a memory of something on the television and repeating it with every ounce of energy he had.

Shocked by the sudden outburst, Ronni's mother twisted the steering wheel, sending the car spinning off the side of the road and into a tree. His family lost a lot in that moment... the unborn child, the use of his mother's legs, his father's left hand, and Ronni’s ability to see. And though Ronni didn't understand, he would blame himself for the incident in later years. Especially when he had asked, in his mangled mimicry, when his little brother would be arriving and his only response from his mother was hearing broken sobs.

Everyone had their own therapy to take after that. Ronni went into speech therapy, especially when his first year of school passed and he still hadn't figured out how to communicate properly on top of therapy for coping with his blindness. The funny thing was brail- the bumps on pages… they made more sense in communication then words did. It was through brail that Ronni finally figured out words and speech. His mother was in therapy for a miscarriage and the loss of the ability to ever have children again, as well as the loss of her ability to walk. And his father went into amputee therapy where he eventually learned how to use a prosthetic to continue to do his job. When Ronni gained knowledge of how to speak, he also lost the ability to mimic things for awhile... for 10 whole years Ronni's family was as normal as it could be with a bright child who picked up quickly in classes and did well in school even with his disability, helped his mother however she needed him to, and would often work with his father on old cars, feeling out tools that his father asked for and so on.

And then puberty hit and guess what came back? The random mimicking, the inability to control what sounds he mimicked. Everything he heard he'd mimic. He began wearing ear plugs, borrowing notes from Joanie who was kind enough to rewrite her notes in brail for him. He couldn't find a way to control his outbursts besides silence. His mother, father, and he had a long written out conversation on what they could do to solve Ronni's situation. They began their own kind of lessons, teaching the boy control over his impulsive sounds. They used a series of dance, yoga, singings, and finding a mental palace to help him take control. It took a long time to work but by the time he graduated, thanks to diligent effort on his and his parent's half, he graduated with an ability to control his ability to mimic.

Along the lines Ronni came across echolocation, having Joanie help him with his research into the animals until he figured out the basic concept. Before long he was figuring out how to use echolocation to navigate instead of his walking stick. He’s gotten decent enough that where sounds resonate from him can give him a decent idea of what is around him. He can look towards someone speaking to him and when he speaks back, he can get a vague, fuzzy idea of how tall they are, the kind of clothing they’re wearing, and the shape they were.

The next few years he spent working in a grocery store while he tried to figure out what he wanted to do with his life. And one night, a petty thief tried to rob the grocery store of all its cash. Ronni wasn't about to allow that, finding such pathetic attempts to survive annoying and petty. He stood up to the robber, despite the man pointing a gun at him. He mimicked the man when he asked for the money, grinning in his mockery, and ended up making the man so paranoid that he turned and ran for the store. So... not that desperate after all. After that he found a desire to use his ability like a super power... though he's far from being a commercial supe. He doesn't even have a costume, but he knows his codename - Dischord.

Ronni is close to his mother though once he learned he's the reason she's in a wheelchair he became a lot more cautious of her. He doesn't really open up to her or talk to her very much, but he comes running whenever she calls his name.

Father

Ronni's father still blames him for the car accident. Even though it wasn't done on purpose... it was still caused by Ronni and that bitterness means the only closeness he allows is when his son is helping him with something. Ronni feels the distance his father creates and respectfully keeps it.

Deceased Sibling

There is so much guilt and regret when it comes to remembering he almost had a sibling. Ronni made his own little grave for the lost child when he was young-carving 'Baby Brother/Sister' into a tree, and he still visits it today. It's a constant reminder for him to keep control.

Tilly - A strict and professional worker, she never lets the boy get away with anything. Still, he respects her for that.

Roan - A goofy man, Roan likes to make a joke about everything. He often has a rather crude sense of humor.

High School Friends:

Sarah - Typical girly girl. Except that she can kick butt and she isn't afraid of mud.

Joanie - She's always been able to read Ronni extremely well and is his main confidant today. She's the only one who knows of his mimicry aside from his parents and helps him with being blind, she knows because her mother is blind.

Guy - Everyone has their dumb friend. That's Guy for Ronni- but it's still nice to have a guy friend to pal around and play video games with. And Guy is a huge fan of Ronni's ability to 'make character voices' often telling him to 'sound like a certain character' while chatting over the line with other video game nerds.
Ability: Mimicry

Ronni has the ability to mimic any sound he hears- even if he doesn’t register hearing it at first. As he grows, his ears have begun to pick up more sounds, slightly outmatching the average person’s hearing. At first he was unable to do more than mimic exactly what he heard, sound for sound, word for word. In these sounds he has learned to change pitch, frequency, as well as length of time, and volume.

Limits:

Thanks to being blinded in that accident, Ronni is dependent on his mimicry ability- using echolocation as his means of getting around. If any sort of gag or hand is put over his mouth, or he gets a sore throat, he is unable to use his ability. Pretty much if a regular person couldn’t talk in the situation, Ronni can’t use his ability. Also, he has to have heard the sound somewhere. If he heard it off of a television, he can only mimic it as well as the television can make.

History of Ability:

Ronni was born with the ability, lost it for several years after a car accident took his sight, and then learned to hone it in later life. When he is overworked, completely stressed, or exhausted there are still times he reverts to the habit of mimicking everything he hears.

A New Morning
The world was bright and filled with glorious sights and sounds. Ronni was oddly silent in birth which terrified the doctors at first, until the boy heard the crying of his grandmother and began to mimic the sound of her crying. That set the doctors at ease and they declared him a healthy baby as they handed him to his mom. His crying quieted down as she cooed lovingly at him, him immediately preferring the soft coos to the cries and beginning to mimic her cooing. Ever since birth, Ronni has had the ability to mimic though he didn’t gain control over his ability until much later in his life. In fact, he didn’t even notice the differences between the mimics he did and the sounds the rest of the world produced on their own until he was much older.

“Give me all the money!” The course sound of a man’s voice demanded. He was standing a short ways away, just the other side of the counter if Ron’s guess was corrected. Tori was in the back, he already knew that- she had said she needed to take inventory. He was glad she was back there, come to think of it. That way she wasn’t in harm’s way.

“Give me all the money?” Ronni mimicked the man’s voice, but altered the end just enough to make it sound like a question instead of the statement the burglar had made. The sound waves that bounced back towards him showed that the man was holding a weapon. He really wanted to emit a high pitched screech that would give him a better read on what it was the man was holding but refrained. If it was a gun then the sound could startle the man.

“Don’t sass me, boy.” The man snarled. By the sound of his voice he was either very old, or he had spent many years smoking which had deepened his voice and added a rasp. Hearing the hitch in the man’s breathing, Ronni went for the latter.

“Don’t sass me, boy.” Ronni mimicked, adding the menace to the mimicry that the man didn’t seem to have the knowledge to add.

“Stop doing that!” The man shouted, making Ronni’s ears throb but he ignored that.

“Stop doing that!” He shouted right back.

“I’ll Kill You!” He threatened but Ronni could hear the waver in his voice. Grin widening, Ronni wondered just how twisted he looked. Then again, he wondered what he looked like at all these days.

“I’ll. Kill. You.” He repeated and the next thing he heard was footsteps taking off in the other direction.

“What was that all about?” Tori asked, having perfect timing as always.

“The guy didn’t have enough change.” He replied with a shrug.

Appearance: Hair length is medium, with one side being significantly shorter than the other. All is a pale pink color. Her eyes are a solid blue, very bright against her pale skin. She's a very curvy girl with a decent chest and wide hips. Her muscles are especially well defined for a female. She has a pretty face, but one good look at her and it's obvious she isn't only to trifle with.

Style: Preferably form fit. She prefers sleeveless shirts and tight pants. Things she won't miss if they get torn and won't hinder her if she has to enhance her skeletal structure with short notice.
Personality:

Eddie is very, ironically, hard headed. She acts mostly on principal, and has a bad habit of not thinking things through before she runs straight into danger. She is the kind of woman that believes in asking forgiveness instead of permission.

Though she is extremely sarcastic and doesn't have the best social prowess, she would be the first person to run headfirst into danger if someone needed her without a second thought to her own well being.

She has a bad gambling problem and has a highly addictive personality, leading to her being a clingy woman who is highly jealous when it comes to any sort of relationship, friendship or otherwise. She wants to feel needed without saying so, and will react badly to hurt feelings. Meaning she'll punch you in the face before she'll shed a tear.

Though she possesses an enhanced healing factor and a heightened immune system, she definitely feels pain, though she has never let it stop her. - Observant attitude: For all she lacks in social graces, she's quick to notice people's moods. Perhaps this is because she's said the wrong thing too many times, but she's been known to call someone out on being upset when no one else noticed more than once in her life time.
- Consideration of others: This isn't -exactly- true, as she has a terrible habit of saying the meanest things. However, she's also -extremely- good at saying exactly what other's need to hear. This can also perhaps be attributed to her experience in screwing up; she tries really hard to fix her mistakes, especially when it comes to hurting someone's feelings.

She believes what she believes and that is that and there is no changing it. This has gotten her into plenty an argument that often ended in screaming matches or fist fights.

Fears:

Needles. Something about them..Every time she has to go in to the enhancement facilities to be..updated she has to deal with them, but they're an irrational fear for her. She's gotten used to being torn apart from the inside out. Her pain tolerance is extreme - ejecting bone from her own body rips apart her flesh, even though it heals almost instantly, it's an unimaginable pain. But needles..needles go into her. Needles pierce her from the outside. It makes her feel...vulnerable, and small, she hates them with a passion.

Emotionally, she's horrified of being alone forever, but that's also something she rarely voices. Though her flaws could be considered extreme - considering how clingy and temperamental she can be, she's relatively aware of her shortcomings and how annoying they can surely be. This has formed a very typical thought in her mind for a young, single woman who hasn't often dated: "Maybe no one can ever love me.."

And that doesn't even include finding someone to love her with her weird pink hair and her bone thingies.
Likes:
- She really enjoys working out. It de-stresses her along with keeping her in shape. It also gives her a good appetite - as she also loves to eat.
- Food is a passion in many ways. No only does she love to eat food, but she's also a rather talented chef.
- Shooting. She doesn't need guns, but her aim is spot on, as she has spent many an evening at a range with her father.
- Animals. She goes ga-ga over anything small, and cute, and fluffy.
- Men. She may not really like talking to them, but she sure does love to look.
Dislikes:
- Singing. She has an awful voice, which has always frustrated her to no end.

History:

Eddie has had a relatively nice life. Other than a few upsets thanks to her lack of control that her enhancements have now settled out, she had..parents that loved her. She had a pet. She went to school, studied, did martial arts for discipline, and all sorts of things.

But, her childhood before the enhancements was rather rocky. Her parents were very well off, making it easy for them to move all the time. Combined with her terrible social skills, this lead to her putting more people in hospitals than making friends..

It made her a bitter young girl, so even when she finally got into public school and the world was laid out of her feet..she was angry. For a long time. She still got into fights and skipped school, though her grades were always decent because she did really well when she actually showed up. This worried her parents immensely.

The death of her father at 17 really put her world into perspective for her.

Her mother is now her world. She has no siblings, so she would go to the ends of the Earth for her mother. It really made her realize all the stress she had put her parents through.

With her mother's persistence she has now moved away to the big city, like she always dreamed, though without her mother's ever-presence she feels more lonely than ever, and it takes all of her will not to simply..fall into her self and forget the world.

Having already graduated college as a culinary major, she starts Monday as a chef in one of NYCs many famous kitchens.

Though her father's death calmed her down, she still has serious temper flares, and even after four years, hasn't quite learned to cope with his passing. She is full of..regret, and sadness at his loss, and all the things she did wrong as a teen.

Father: James Dunban. Deceased. Described as a good man, and a good father. A bit of a temper, much like his daughter. An ex MMA fighter, Eddie learned most of her techniques from him and other various establishments that he enrolled her at during their travels.

Mother: Nelda Dunban. Currently living on a private property in up-state New York. She is a warm woman; Eddie was very fortunate with her parents. Nelda is a proper lady who insists you eat when you visit and if the drive home is too long you should stay the night in their guest room, but make sure you pull the sheets before you leave. Limits: This takes -a lot- of nutrients. For example: if she goes a few days without eating, she'll be basically useless. It also causes her great pain. She's good at forcing through in the heat of the moment, but she's often exhausted afterwards.

History of Ability: Eddie has been this way since birth. The origin of her power is unknown. Both her parents are regular humans and if they know anything of how this power originated in her, they haven't, or refuse, to say.

Skills: She works out regularly, so her muscle tone is advanced for a female. She can also increase the density in her bones, giving her a semblance of super-strength that allows her to break through most average barriers.

She has enhanced healing thanks to her enhancements, and heals almost instantly. This also means she can take a great deal of damage before being put down considering not only her quick healing, but her high pain tolerance.

Her aim is impeccable. She very, very rarely misses.

Weapons: She can developed weapons out of her bones. Normally her weapon of choice is an axe, or a mace of some kind. Something to bludgeon and to hurt. Because of her advanced weapons training she is also prone to using two, what are basically, short swords she develops as needed with her bones.

A New Morning
Endellion, nicknamed "Eddie", was born with her powers. With a more dense bone structure than the average human and the ability later on to control the rate of her bone growth at will, it didn't take long for not only her, but her parents, to discover her unique abilities. Unable to control this initially it not only caused her great pain, but great inconvenience. Imagine sitting around a dining room table eating dinner when an ivory spike grows from your arm? Awkward, much?

Her parents went to great lengths, submitting her for private testing and all sorts of supposed remedies for her "Condition". Eventually with the help of scientific enhancements, with regular visits to a particular underground facility she can kind of control it. The enhancements fail over time, forcing her to return and go through the procedures again. The rate has dwindled down to every few years.

Her first fight was with a regular human over a trivial matter: her hair color. Her hair was born with a natural pale pink hue, getting her a lot of flak from a young age. When she was finally safe enough to enter the public education system she was almost constantly ridiculed.

A group of bullies had gone so far as to follow her home; they began pulling on her hair and hitting her. Suffice to say that she was young and still not the best at controlling her abilities. When she shoved a bone spear through one of the kids feet, her family was forced to cover up and flea.

Now she is a practiced fighter, though she doesn't obviously choose to fight for good or evil, she instead floats in the middle, only engaging other "special" people when necessary. Her bones can form weapons to suit her needs or give her the strength to break bricks with a single hit. She has been trained in several martial arts meant to render an opponent useless in as little time as possible. The most dangerous of these, and her specialty, is known as Krav Maga. This is a martial art quite literally meant to do a -large- amount of damage with the least amount of energy spent with no notice of the opponents shape or size.

Appearance: Johnny has dark brown eyes and long black dreads that are a bit shocking against his pale skin. Despite spending virtually all his time outside, he doesn't tan well. He burns occasionally, but he doesn't get dark. He's lean and muscular from spending his life - or what he can remember of it - on the streets.

Style: Johnny wears anything he finds at either Goodwill or in lost and found bins that fit. His recent favorite is a white tank top paired with a tattered pairs of jeans. He doesn't wear shoes unless absolutely necessary, although he keeps them on his person. They're a black pair of tennis shoes he found at walmart for nine dollars on sale.

He carries a green backpack with him. It's ragged, but he's patched up the few holes there were. It has obviously been rode hard and put up wet. It's filthy, but he doesn't seem to care.
Personality: Johnny has a lot of reasons to be bitter. He has no idea who he is. His arms and back are littered with scars, but he's unsure of how he got them. Despite this, he can remember literally everything else that he comes in contact with.

He doesn't choose to be angry though. He chooses to be at peace. It's something he works very hard to maintain. He meditates for two hours every morning and one hour every evening. He meets anger and violence with love and acceptance.

He understands that all life has value, and because of that, he is a vegan.

Despite his outlook on life, he has a hair-trigger temper. He's in control, but when pushed too far, he becomes very dangerous very fast.

- He is angry by nature, peaceful by choice.
- Johnny believes in helping others before helping himself. If that means that he gives away his last five dollars so someone else can eat, then so be it.
- He's kind, and understanding.
- He loves kids, and often takes time out of his day to talk to those who look like they need a friend.

- Johnny tries to be as understanding and forgiving as possible. However, when pushed too far, he becomes violent. Because he remembers everything, he's skilled and knowledgeable in several forms of self defense.

- He gets irritated with people when they argue with him. The one thing he has going for him is that he remembers everything. If someone tries to tell him he's wrong, he gets a little peeved.

Johnny is afraid of intimacy. That's not to be confused with sex. He likes sex, and he's very good at it. What he's afraid of is getting to know someone.

He's terrified that one day, someone will see through his lies about his childhood, and demand an explanation. He's not sure what he'd tell them if that ever happened.

Johnny is afraid of himself. He's worried that he'll one day lose control and hurt or kill someone. He's so obviously been hurt in the past, and despite the fact that he can't remember it, or who did it, he does harbor the anger that goes along with being abused.

- Johnny likes to play instruments. Specifically the guitar. He's very good with the guitar.
- Johnny likes to listen to, and speak multiple languages. He likes to speak with people from other cultures. He feels it enriches him as a person, and brings him closer to an understanding of single-world consciousness.

Friends: Johnny makes friends with anyone and everyone that will allow him to. Recently he's become quite close with a seven year old boy whose mother works two jobs, and father walked out on them. He met him at the skate park. Johnny had showed him that he was standing on his skateboard wrong. It had started off as him showing him how to properly use it, and turned into a five hour experience in which the boy wound up breaking down. Johnny comforted him, and told him to come back the next day. They've been close for about two months now.

Johnny can remember everything he's ever seen, read or heard. Unfortunately, his memory of everything revolving around himself resets every six months. He can still remember every word of every book he ever read as a child, but he can't remember what country he grew up in. He doesn't know what his parents looked like, or what their voices sounded like. This has led to a terrible feeling of being alone.

History of Ability: Johnny doesn't know it but the ability is genetic. He got it from his father.

Skills: Just because Johnny KNOWS how to do everything, doesn't mean that he CAN do everything. For example, he understands how the drums are supposed to be played. He's read books on it, and seen it done a million times. However, in practice, he's terrible.

Johnny shivered violently. He was cold despite the California heat. His teeth clattered, his whole body ached. He was freezing, but he was burning up. He had a temperature of 102.4 – or at least that’s what the ratty old thermometer he’d gotten from Goodwill had said.

He ran through what he’d eaten for the day. Bradley, a homeless man he’d befriended had given him half a bagel for breakfast. He’d bought a coffee later in the day. He’d eaten chili at the homeless shelter, and he’d had a powerbar for dinner. He’d kept hydrated. His stomach wrenched and he stumbled to his feet. He unzipped the flap, and barely made it three steps outside before he vomited.

He fell to his knees. Good God this was awful. He’d read a book at one point or another about all the known diseases in the world. He ran through them. There were several possibilities. Some of them were as harmless as the flu, others were as deadly as Ebola.

He let out a small cry, he felt like his head was going to explode. It caused his stomach to wrench a second time. Bradley came running toward him. Johnny threw up a second time, this time falling into it. Bradley turned him over, bile covered the boy’s shirt shirt, he gave the homeless man a slow blink.

Johnny was dying, he could feel it in his bones. A cry of pain tore from his chest, his body began to convulse, and he slipped out of consciousness.

Johnny’s eyes peeled open against the sunlight. He sat up, his head ached. He touched it and winced away. “Fuck.” He whispered mostly to himself.

“Johnny?” Came a concerned voice from behind him. “Johnny? Are you okay?” He turned to meet the man’s gaze. The sun was bright. Way too bright for him to keep his eyes open.

He curled into himself, the sour smell of bile hitting his nostrils. It made his already tender stomach turn. “No, man, sorry. I don’t know any Johnny.” He answered, his voice was hoarse, and his throat burned.

“What are you talking about?” The strange man asked. He moved toward him, and put a hand on his shoulder. “Johnny, it’s me, Bradley.” He cooed, his voice was soft and concerned.

Johnny shook his head. “Sorry man, you got me confused with someone else. I’m…” He paused. Who was he? “I’m…” Panic crept up inside of him.

Johnny was confused, so very confused. Who was he? Where was he from? That man back there, he’d helped him break down the tent that he said was his. He’d talked the whole while, telling him insane things. Things that couldn’t possibly be real.

His words cut though his mind like a hacksaw. “I always thought you were just a little touched Johnny. Never thought it was real. Never took you for a Supe.” Supe, that word had unleashed a torrent of memories. Flashes of newspaper articles and news reports. Various superpowered people talking about their lives as “heroes”.

The man had looked up to him with sad eyes and handed him a small pad of paper. “You wrote this Johnny. You gave it to me, and told me to give it back to you when and if you lost your memory.” Bradley had shook his head, the look in his eyes said he still didn’t believe it.

Johnny was lost in thought when the four men began to follow him. He wasn’t paying attention, and that was a mistake, especially here, in a large city, in the middle of the night. A large black man pushed him against a wall. “Money, bitch.” He growled.

Two white men and a man of obvious Mexican decent stood behind the man. They smiled evil smiles. One of them chuckled. “Let’s go!” The man shouted. “I ain’t got all night boy!”

Johnny’s mind spun. Visions of people practicing ju jitzu flooded his mind. Every book he’d ever read on pressure points and self-defense came back to him. His hand shot out, and took the man by the wrist. He snatched the blade from him and shot it toward one of the white men. He screamed, and fell to the ground, holding his leg, the handle of the blade sticking out from the wound.

Johnny slammed a hand against the black man’s shoulder. With a sickening pop, the man screamed, and crumpled to the ground. Johnny’s head was spinning. He was angry, and he couldn’t think past it. The two remaining assailants began to run. For a dangerous moment Johnny considered taking chase, but an excerpt from the pad of paper haunted him. You are not a killer. It had been written over and over. It had covered three entire pages. On the last page, another sentence had stared back at him from beyond the repeated mantra. You are a good person. Choose to be a good person. Johnny pulled the green pack back up over his shoulder. He stepped over the two crumpled men, and continued walking.

Appearance: Nate is a well-muscled and proportionate man. He's a bit on the tall side, standing at 6'1. There's never a time where he's left the house without a pack of cigarettes. His black hair is unkempt, messy, along with his beard that he's rather proud of. Dark brown eyes that almost look black accompany a smirk, and, if a pretty lady's around, usually a wink, too. He looks older than he is but acts younger.

Style: His usual clothing will consist of jeans and a t-shirt with a hoodie or a jacket. Sometimes button-down plaid or flannel shirts. He likes to keep it loose, easy, comfortable. You'll never get him to tell you, but he also puts a small bit of effort into his appearance. Except for his hair. He thinks his hair looks good when he doesn't fiddle with it.
Personality: One word just about sums up Nate. An ass. He loves to bug people, to laugh at people, he doesn't care for anyone except himself. He's smart and he's strong and he's resourceful but his jerkiness kind of outweigh the pros.

It's very rare that Nate's tried to strike a relationship with someone. Don't get me wrong, he isn't anti-social, he's just not ready to make friends. If you want to pester him, all I'll say is be careful. While he's very good at keeping his lax and rolling-his-eyes kind of attitude, if you get under his skin, he doesn't forget.

Nate isn't a team player. He's obnoxious and he's stubborn and he enjoys getting on people's nerves, pushing their buttons and watching them explode. It's a pastime of his. He can be cocky and refuse to do anything unless it's done in his own way. Lazy at times, too. But his skill set is valuable. That's usually the only reason people keep him around, if at all.

Often has a cigarette in his mouth, half the time he never even lights it. Only when he's angry he'll light it. Lots of winking, smirking, rolling of eyes. He doesn't have any tell-tale signs that tell you he's angry or sad or upset, aside from the cigarette lighting and the occasional time he'll run a hand through his hair.

Personality Pros:
- Intelligent - It's rare Nate can't find a solution to a problem, and his thinking may be out of the box, but genius in some ways nonetheless.
- Tough - Nate knows how to fight - and he fights well. A survival skill he's depended on for a large part of his life, and now he even teaches it. No one, and I mean no one, can push him around.
- Brave - Or maybe, just not often afraid. Which is good and bad. There isn't much he hasn't seen, and the guy does enjoy a good horror movie. So he can laugh at it.
- Loner - Used to being alone. It doesn't bother him anymore.
- Locked Vault - Nate can keep secrets. Very well.
Personality Cons:
- Closed Off - He hasn't shared anything emotionally with anyone for years. Seems he's forgotten how.
- Stubborn - Just as no one can push him around, no one can change his mind.
- I'll do it myself - Prefers not to work as a team player.
- Blind - Not literally, but Nate can be very blind to the right option because of his own stubbornness.
- Unkind - Nate is not nice. He won't be the one to help an old lady across the street.
Fears: The fear of not being strong again, of losing his powers or his ability to protect himself, admittedly scares the crap out of him. His powers have become a part of his every day life now - it's been a while since he's opened a door in his own home. To lose them would be devastating to him.

Large fires are also uneasy for Nate. Cooking, lighting a cigarette, that's no big deal. But to be surrounded by fire, your air slowly dwindling... eugh. The thought, even, is displeasing. Nate can't walk through fire without getting burned, just like the rest of the world.

History:

As a child, Nate had a kind life. Loving parents. As an only child, he was spoiled. He had friends at school. He was the star on the school soccer team. His parents were doctors. They'd met at a clinic, fallen in love, gotten married, started their own. They were smart and kind people. The Winhart family was always doing well financially, too. Everything was perfect. But at fifteen years old, this all changed.

On their way home from work, a drunk driver slammed into his parent's car, killing them both instantly. Nate's world shattered. His parents were gone. He was thrown around orphanages, never adopted. He had to wait three years before he could get out of this hell hole of a temporary home. No, not a home. A house. There was nothing home-y about it.

The kids at the orphanage bullied and beat him for fun. Nate constantly had bloodied lips, black eyes. His nose was even broken, once. This was how he discovered his power. He was shoved up against a wall - and he fell right through it. This scared a few kids, sure, but the bullying didn't stop. They just didn't beat him up against walls anymore.

For a year he was tortured. He had lost all motivation to even try to fight back. But he met a girl. Adeline. A girl his age, bullied by the orphanage idiot just like himself. Nathan stood up to protect her. He was head over heels in love with her. He fought with such vigor that he even broke a few fingers punching Randy Fitson in the nose. It was no longer Randy that was feared around the orphanage. It was Nate. He owned the place.

When they were both seventeen, Adeline mysteriously disappeared. She'd gone out for a walk one day and never came back. Either she'd been kidnapped, or she'd ran away.. she was never found. It tore him apart. When they got out of the orphanage, they had promised to help each other out, to be the family that they'd never had.

A year later, Nate was an released as an adult. No one to help him, no one to guide him, all on his own. In the beginning it was tough. No money at all, he got a job at a grocery store and bought a crappy apartment after a few nights of sleeping on the streets. If he was ever in trouble, it was easy to run away. A kid that couldn't be cornered was hard to catch.

He visited a boxing gym, trying to get a job. He was good, and while he wasn't a professional, he learned quickly and soon he had a full-time job. He could get a better apartment, life was going good once again.

Jackson, a fellow instructor at The Punch, enjoys chatting with Nate every now and then. There's also a stray cat that often follows Nate home, and Nate may or may not have scratched it underneath the chin every now and then. And once upon a time, Adeline.
Ability: Intangibility/Wall Walking || It's hard to put Nate's power under a specific category. You could call him a Wall Walker. That's what he calls himself, anyway. Nate has to be very focused, otherwise he could just plain run into a wall and not pass through it, or even worse, become tangible while in some form of physical matter. Nate, despite being the careless ass he is, has actually never been caught in this situation. Yet. He has been caught in situations, however, where he has been too tired to pass through walls.

While it may be hard to label Nate's power, it's not hard to understand. He can jump through walls, he can pull people through walls, he can walk on walls. There. You've got it. I know it looks like he's not trying hard, but that's just the way Nate handles everything. Tries very hard. Makes it look like he isn't. It's fun, actually. He likes stunning people.

Limits: There is always the possibility of over-exertion. Nate can't endlessly walk up and through walls. There is a point where Nate can flat out no longer use his ability until he's rested. Even worse, he could run out of energy while INSIDE a wall. That luckily hasn't happened yet, and I don't want to think of what could happen to Nate if it does.

History of Ability: Nate had this ability since he was born and didn't realize it 'till he was 17. There were always little happenings, like leaning against a wall and falling through it just a fraction of an inch, but it never really made a connection in his brain. The first time he fully realized he had powers was when the bully of the orphanage pushed him up against a wall - and Nate fell right through it.

Skills: The ability to fight - some experience with a knife/dagger, but mostly fist fighting.

A simple, small pocket knife in case of emergencies and for.. y'know, cutting things.

A New Morning
It had only been a month since he'd been released from the orphanage. He'd managed to get a job as a grocery store worker, and was near enough to get a shabby apartment. He did spend a couple nights in a motel, but had to leave so he could eat and save for an apartment. Luckily Nathan always knew how to take care of himself, very independent, even with his parents still around.

Life outside was cold, but truly, not any colder then the orphanage. A disgusting place, but at least here, it was disgusting but he could be free.

As he walked home from a long shift at the grocery store, young Nate needed to find a nice park bench to sleep on. But not before a click of a gun against his side. He didn't even dare look to see who the man was. He was pushed into a dark alleyway, where no one would see what could happen.

"Empty your pockets." The man said gruffly, the gun still pointed mostly downwards. But Nathan did not move. His face covered in a plain black fabric mask with holes poked for the mouth, nose, and eyes. Nathan could see, this man was not a professional killer. Probably broke and homeless, just as he, or very close to it.

"I SAID, EMPTY YOUR POCKETS!" He yelled, his voice cracking half way through, now raising the gun to point straight towards Nate's chest. There was no change in Nathan's expression. He only stared the gunman in the eyes, a look of remorse, and sorrow.

"Sorry." Was all he said, before he backed up into the wall and disappeared into the brick.

Appearance: Roark is generally a fit young man. He has lean muscles to where they are more for work than for show. He has constantly messed up hair of a dark brown coloration. His eyes are a regular brown color. He also happens to be missing his right arm, with which he has replaced with a robotic replacement.

Style: Functional is the name of the game for Roark's clothing. Jeans, and regular shirts are what he always wears, as they are better to work in than anything else he owns. He also tends to wear a jacket, dark green in coloration. He is always found with goggles upon his head, though they are for more than just looks, instead being an integral part of his equipment.

Personality: One of the first things anybody notices about Roark's personality is that he nearly always has a positive attitude. Whether it is working on a car or stopping a criminal, he always seems upbeat and cheerful. This derives from his personal philosophy that if you always have a positive outlook on the world, it will change for the better. Of course, this has led him to being quite eccentric, curious, and energetic as well. He will sometimes go on lengthy monologues on the situation or about his personal views on the matter at hand, or he will be distracted by the interesting device lying over their in the corner.

Despite what his joyful disposition may imply, he is actually quite humble and down to earth as a person. He knows when he has to admit he is wrong, and will usually listen to both sides of an argument before making a decision. On top of all of this, Roark is very patriotic to his country, believing that he needs to do his part to keep the good Ol' US of A afloat.
Personality Pros:
- Optimist: No matter what the situation may be, Roark will always see the positive side of things. Even when all seems lost, Roark will still have hope and try his darnest to make the best outcome possible happen.
- Curious: Roark wants to know everything of why something happens, specifically in machines. He loves to figure things out and see how things work, which has led him to be quiet knowledgable in his field of expertise.
- Persistent: Once Roark sets his mind to doing something, he will get it done no matter how long it takes. To some this does come across as stubborn, but to Roark it is just about not giving up.
- Down-to-Earth: Roark enjoys practicality quite a bit. He will usually take the road that makes the most sense and sees know reason why everyone has to try and over complicate everything. This can also be seen in How he deals with a situation, where he will often go straight for the most logical solution, even if it won't make sense to most.
- Creative: This is the name of the game for Roark. He is always thinking and imagining what could possibly be. He always thinks of ever possible way a situation could go, and then plans out the most effective result. This also ties over into his fighting style, which was made up by him to better suit his abilities.
Personality Cons:
- Eccentric: While it might help with his creativity, Roark's eccentricity certainly does have its draw backs. He will often do monologues at various moments, sometimes very inopportune moments, about various subjects, such as mechanics, the situation, or as a retort. This could be quite grating to some people as well.
- Naive: Roark always assumes the best in people, and as such, he can be duped by a malevolent individual who would play to this belief. This could be as simple as playing innocent or as conniving as getting him to do their work for him, though once he knows a person is untrustworthy, he will no longer fall for such tricks.
- Easily Distracted: This is not as simple as a "Hey, look over there" type of distraction. No, Roark will often become distracted by situations going on around him. This only happens if he is not in a confrontation, unless it is with machinery. Thanks to his ability, he will often fall into a sort of trance when he sees mechanical parts lying around.
- Stubborn: While Roark sees it as persistent, it does sometimes fall into the realm of stubbornness. He will often keep at things to a point where it can be deemed harmful to himself, even if the goal is nigh impossible to achieve.
- Something to Prove: Roark doesn't actually know he is powered. In fact, he just believes he is a normal human who has a knack for engineering. Because of this, Roark constantly tries to prove that a normal human can be a superhero just like a powered can, which can cause him to undertake task that are normally way too dangerous.
Fears: Snakes. Just snakes. Specifically anacondas. When Roark was five, he went down to the zoo with the rest of the orphans. He got seperated, and one of the anacondas had escaped from its exhibit. You can figure the rest out. Needless to say, he is now terrified of any type of snake. It's not that he can't fight them now, but there will always be the memory of being chased by those cold, hungry, soulless eyes that will instantly strike fear into his heart.

- Shooting: Heck, he was the best shot this side of the Mississippi.

History: As a baby, Roark was found on the porch of the Withers Hall Orphanage in a small rural town in Alabama. Growing up, he was subject to most of the problems of being an orphan. Everything was secondhand, the food definitely wasn't the best, and the ophanage was always in need of repairs. Luckily, the children of the orphanage grew to see each other as family, so that they could have one. Seeing as his family was in dire straits, at the age of 10, Roark went from shop to shop to try and find a job, though his search was fruitless. That was, until he went to the old mechanic shop. There, he would find the closest thing he would have to a father, John Kane.

John was an old man who had never been able to have a family, and when Roark had shown up at his shopfront asking for a job, he just couldn't say no. Roark was given the task of helping John out around the shop, usually by giving him the various tools he needed to work with or by sweeping the floors. Eventually, John would start to teach Roark the basics of mechanics, only to discover that the boy was naturally gifted in engineering. He seemed to have a knack for knowing where each piece was supposed to go, and exactly how it should be connected. So, for the next several years, Roark worked at the Repair Shop. Not only was he making money that he used to help his family, but John Kane himself started visiting the orphanage and repairing it for free. Life was going great. hat was, until that fateful day.

When Roark was eighteen, his world would be turned upside down forever. When he went into town for work, he found the door broken on the floor. Running inside, he found a man threatening Mr. Kane to fix something or be killed. Grabbing a nearby wrench, Roark ran up to the criminal and hit him in the head. Unfortunately for Roark, the person in question had an ability. With the sound of a loud bang, Roark blacked out.

Several weeks later, Roark awoke in a hospital bed. He tried to get up, but something was off. He could not move his right arm. In fact, his arm was gone. The criminal had apparently blasted his arm off, sending him into shock and nearly killing him. Roark would never have an arm again. Upon arriving back home, Roark was greater by the orphans, town, and general press. Apparently, the self sacrifice he had shown had actually garnered quite a bit media attention, especially since it was against a 'villain' as the reporters put it. Eventually the media attention would flock over to some other story, much to Roark's benefit. Life was apparently going to go on normally for Roark, just without his arm.

Family: The closest thing he has to a family is the orphans he was raised with. The paternal figure was taken up by his boss, John Kane, an old mechanic with a Repair Shop.

Friends: Other than the orphans, there is Artyom, an immigrant's son from the Ukraine. The two met in elementary school and have been friends ever since. He is one of the most reliable people Roark knows.

Ability: Roark's ability is a bit hard to define, but he has a natural ingenuity for mechanics. Now this isn't exactly super intelligence, he only has average grades in school afterall. It is better described as a feeling of knowing where each piece goes together to form a functional object. This can have him build near anything, whether he knows how to or not. So far, his most prominent creation, and the one that led him to try to be a hero, is his robotic arm, which has increased strength, durability, and reflexes.

Limits: Roark's engineering ability does have a major flaw in that in most cases, he has no idea what he is building until it is finished, and even then he might not know how too use it. It can also cause him to get distracted at the worst of times if he looks upon a suitable pile of parts.

His robotic arm has its limitations as well. While it may increase his strength and reflex of that arm, he is still human. He can still be hurt, killed, become tired, and, when lifting, it still relies on the strength of the legs and back. Not to mention that having an arm made of solid metal makes it incredibly hard to swim.

History of Ability: Do to the nature of Roark's ability, he hasn't exactly realized he has one. He does realize he is way more mechanically gifted than others, but he believes that is more do to his introduction to mechanics at such a young age that led to this. While his ability did first show itself at the repair shop, his first true usage of it came when he was missing his arm. Trying to overcome his disability, Roark developed the most advanced prosthetic in the world, with only his left arm, and he was right handed. This technological marvel actually inspired him to try and become one of those famous superheroes that is often shown on the news, so he set out to design a few more inventions to help. Through the use of his mechanical creations and some good old fashioned hard work, Roark was able to start some heroic work. It was nothing big, stopping some thieves, a bank heist or two, but nothing grand. However, he never wore a disguise, mainly for the reason that he had a mechanical arm, and it is easily deductible that the secret identity of the robot armed hero might be the robot armed mechanic, so Roark never bothered with hiding his identity.

Skills: He is a dang good shot, thanks to him being raised in the south and all. He does have a preference for shotguns however. He also is physically fit, mainly as he has to keep the rest of his body in shape to keep up with his mechanical part.

This right here is the single most advanced firearm the world has ever seen. Personally designed by Roark himself, the V1 Boomstick is his main armament, in large part thanks to its vast versatility. It can fire stun rounds, rubber pellets, fire charges, and magnetic grappling device, compressed air, explosives, and of course regular shotgun shells.

"Okay, see you in a bit little buddy."

Roark simply nodded his head as Mr. Kane left the room to go on a business run. He was too focused on the object in front of him. Its shiny metal covering was off an on the floor and the internal machinations were sprawled on the floor in front of him. It was supposed to have been a toaster, yet it looked nothing like it at the moment. Roark couldn't believe that such a small object could have so much stuff inside it. Still, he couldn't sit there forever, he had to get to work fixing it for Mr. Kane. But where to begin?

A familiar feeling rushed over Roark as he lifted up a piece of the toaster. Looking down at the sprawled out pieces before him, he realized that it suddenly made since where all these pieces should go. The grill like thingy needed to be connected to that dobob, while the screw needed to go there and the curved piece needed to be placed over there. Without actually comprehending what he was doing, he started to put everything together as if in a trance, until finally, he had a working toaster.

Roark was ecstatic that he was able to fix the toaster, he must have learned how by watching Mr. Kane. But what was he supposed to do now, he had already finished and the clock said it had only been five minutes. Mr. Kane was supposed to be gone for another 55 minutes. Perhaps he could try and fix some of the other stuff in the shop as a surprise? Yes that would work.

The store bell chimed as John made his way back into the shop. He was quite relieved to see that Roark had not burned the place down, as well as quite surprised that he had actually been able to fix the toaster. Perhaps he had found himself a good protégé. However, Roark was not in the room. Making his way to the garage in the back, he stopped, believing that his eyes where playing tricks on him. There, in the middle of the garage and covered in grease was Roark, as well as a nearly fully repaired tractor which had been in pieces for a few months.

Roark turned and smiled at the old man, the surprise open his face evident. "Hey Mr. Kane! I'm almost finished!"

A Wrench in the Plan
Well, this wasn't going quite to plan. The sound of a man yelling reached Roark as he pressed himself up against a wall. He really should have planned out his plan of attack better. Really, why did he just try to rush the thug? Did he honestly think the guy would back down because a teenager with a cool looking prosthetic told him too? He sighed, he really needed to get more prepared for this heroing thing.

The sound of the guy yelling, now easily discernible as cussing and words of vulgarity that Roark wouldn't dare repeat.

Perhaps he should make some more tools, after all a robot arm only gets one so far. He should probably try and develop a fighting style to maximize its effectiveness. Perhaps he should make something of a ranged weapon as well, a pistol maybe? No, its to small and quite inaccurate. Nothing like those TV shows made them out to be. But a shotgun, a shotgun could work. Yeah, he could make various modes for it, perhaps some form of grappling function like in those spy movies? Yeah that would be awesome!

The sound of vulgarity and footsteps were extremely close now. In fact, the thug who had tried mugging the Miss Betty was coming right around the corner. Clenching his metal hand tightly around an object on the ground, he swung at the guy's head. There was a loud clang and then a thump as the guy fell to the ground unconscious. Looking down at the tool in hand, Roark smiled and breathed a sigh of relief. He would definitely keep this surprisingly effective wrench.
