"Hm," said Julian, when Aubree replied with a negative. "Hm, yeah. I was talking with a Daniel yesterday... eveningish. He seemed cool." Julian stretched in his seat, nonchalantly. "He's not a werewolf, though." He lowered his voice. "Not quite." Werewolves were overrated, anyways. They were everywhere; couldn't shoot a silver bullet without hitting one in the head.
In media at least. He hadn't really found out in real life yet- but by now, he could hypothesize there were some. He wasn't the only animal! Julian wondered: would he be allergic to silver now? That would certainly be strange.
"Gin?" asked Julian when Aubree spoke again. "Ooh, there was that girl on America's Got Talent? I haven't met her, of course, but... wasn't she the bicyclist? She doesn't really have a chance, in my opinion. I mean, sure, it's nice and all, but why would a bicyclist win?" He paused. "Oh, no, wait, that's like.... was that Jeanne?" He thought for a moment, tapping a pencil he'd produced from his pocket. "Yeah, that's Jeanne. I remember the name Gin, though. Maybe she was a singer...."
"Julian?" asked the teacher, who had approached without being noticed.
"Hm? Yes?" asked the boy right back, brightly, turning around to see him.
The instructor frowned and tapped his empty paper. "Get to work."
"It takes me a long time to think," Julian defended.
"I'm sure," said the man evenly. "Picking your favorite celebrity does take some pondering." He tapped the sheet again before continuing his walk. "History, now, Julian."
Julian looked skeptically over to their teacher, doodling a spiral on his paper. After he had wandered a safe distance away, Julian suddenly spoke, acting as if the incident hadn't even happened. "Oh, she did the opera thing! Course she did the opera thing." He looked at Aubree, curious. "Do you even watch America's Got Talent?"
