As you take a turn down a familiar alley, a cold wind blows past you, carrying unfamiliar smells and sounds. You step forward, carrying on, and then the light hits you. A cacophony of the city rushes into your ears, that of people shouting, of traffic, of music, and of industrial machinery. You look up and find that the view is unfamiliar. Tall Art Deco edifices stand where modern skyscrapers were, electronic billboards now display women and flowers, and advertise products in a language you can't read. Unfamiliar cars roar past, metallic robots like something from a cheesy Sci-Fi film sell newspapers, and jazz music plays from the radios. Above you, a train blows its whistle and rides past. You're clearly not home anymore.

Welcome to...

Rita Zima

Appearance: 168 cm - 5'6" | She's somewhat slim, but her arms are surprisingly stocky for her build.

Name: Margarita Evgenievna Zima

Age: 29

Job: Bartender and Film Extra

Personality: A bright, sociable woman who has it all together, that’s Rita. Or at least, that’s what Rita tries to portray to the world outside. If she can trick the people around her, perhaps she too can trick herself into believing that she still has her old youthful passion and the ability to fulfill her aspirations. After too many years of working on a single goal and spinning around in circles, she’s burned herself out and wants to give up, but can’t, because she fears there’ll be nothing left for her afterwards.

Personal Background: Born into a large family of six as the youngest, Margarita learned to be a dutiful and restrained child. She never asked for more than she needed, never complained about her parents being too busy to take care of her, and always kept her grades above average in school. She wasn’t the smartest in class, nor necessarily the most hardworking, but she did well enough, and her parents were satisfied — not that they showed it. Margarita believed that she didn’t need the smothering care or casual affection other parents displayed — her independence showed her maturity and put her on a different level from the kids in class. She wasn’t worse off, she was better.

Margarita was lonely in high school. Her father had decided to move after a promotion and she couldn’t connect with her new classmates in the city. Her personality wasn’t the easiest to get along with, and she was a bit old fashioned as well, which didn’t help with things. Nobody bullied her though; she was simply forgotten. During this period, she spent her time after school secretly watching movies alone in a rundown theatre by their family’s condo.

It was only in college, meeting her first roommate, that she finally got to share her love for the silver screen. Her roommate was a theatre major and a devoted cinephile, fond of movies old and new in almost every genre. They immediately hit it off, and after a year, she managed to convince Margarita to follow her dream of being an actress. This didn’t go over well with her parents — who had wanted her to pursue a more stable career — and led to many, sometimes violent, arguments.

She ended up breaking off her ties with her family and dropping out of school when she was twenty. Her once-roommate felt a little responsible for her difficulties, and housed her for a while. Margarita holed up at her home at first, but made up her mind and went on doing her best to make money and get that shiny starring role. She worked at a bar during the nights, went to acting classes on the weekends, and played extras during the day. It wasn’t perfect, but she was working to the place she wanted to be, and she felt freer than she ever had before.

Margarita knew her luck had changed when an agent offered to sign her, but that same week, her roommate-and-friend got into a car accident and upturned her world. She lost her place of residence, her best friend, and an agent that she forgot to call back in her grief. She only pulled herself together many, many months later, managing to muddle through with the bar owner’s help. Unfortunately, that opportunity happened to be the only opportunity she got in the next eight or so years, and she never moved past playing bit parts.

Observed Strengths:
Mixing Cocktails - Her technical skill, efficiency and experience in making simple and complex drinks with and without alcohol.
Remarkable Memory - The memorization prowess she utilizes to keep fifty plus cocktail recipes and regular customer preferences down pat.
Hard Worker - She’s an enduring person who can take a great deal of pressure and put in any amount of effort to complete her tasks.

Observed Weaknesses:
Family - It’s a touchy subject matter, and she will often go out of her way to avoid those conversations by doing anything possible.
Inflexible Outlook - Rita is set in her ways — whether in her job or her life — and fears change.
Values Reputation - She tries to keep up appearances more than she keeps herself happy.

Equipment:
Bartender Uniform
Bag of Citrus, Sugar, and Bottle of Gin
Set of Three Jiggers

Other: When she first started working at Dewdropper, coworkers and customers alike joked that she was made for bartending with a name like “Margarita”. She begged to disagree and forced everyone to call her Rita.

Appearance: 5'11", he is a bit brawny, with old, almost leathery muscles.

Name
: Ray Person

Age: 40

Job: Narcotics Detective

Personality:
Dark, almost cynical. He almost seems as if most of the light in him is gone, as his job results in him seeing the worst in people. While he is very dark, he does have a soft spot for children, often willing to lend a helping hand.

Personal Background:
Born in 1980, Ray was raised in a proud family in Brooklyn. His father fought in the Vietnam War, instilling in him a strong sense of discipline and right and wrong. He joined the Marines right out of High School, rising to the rank of Sergeant in time for Operation Enduring Freedom. He served in two combat tours before leaving the Marines in 2003. Directly after this he wandered around the city he loved, not knowing what to do with himself. For 2 years he was homeless, until he was found by one of his old combat buddies. He turned his life around, and decided to become a cop. He achieved the rank of Detective in 2015, working with the Special Victims Unit, which he found to be very discomforting and was transferred to Narcotics.

Observed Strengths:

-No Dip Sherlock: He can use local clues to piece together a scenario or track a person

-Can you spare me a moment?: He can be very effective at going undercover and making up names.

Observed Weaknesses:

-Dark Humor:
He has a tendency to make dark jokes at not the right times.

-Heavy Drinker: He is a heavy alcoholic, mainly due to the things he has seen

Equipment:
Colt M1911 .45 ACP, x3 7-round magazines, flashlight, badge, engraved zippo lighter, light plate carrier, black wool coat, jeans, steel toe boots, faded green shirt, and an MP3 player.

Other:
Despite his now darkened view on reality, he still retains one thing from hist time before and during the military: his love of music.

Appearance: 6’0” 137 lbs. Mostly average, and very weak. Aidan doesn’t exercise well, and is usually in his lab.

Name: Aidan Smith

Age: 25

Job: Biologist

Personality: When talking about things that he enjoys(mostly plants and animals), Aidan would get very talkative and would speak for a very long time, so long that people would fall asleep. But he’s also very shy, so he would only talk when necessary. He’s also very kind and caring, especially to the environment.

Personal Background: Aidan was born into a average home with an average family, and a mostly average and dull life. The only thing weird thing in his life was himself. Aidan was a nerd, and was obsessed for everything about the environment since he was 3. He was bullied at school a lot, because no one liked what he liked, and they thought he was a loser.

When he was in high school, he dedicated himself to graduate and become a biologist, but high school was very stressful and Aidan barely managed to get what he wanted. Now that he had a job and was understanding the environment, he had everything that he wanted. It seemed that everything was going to be okay.

Observed Strengths:

-Identifier: Aidan knows everything about most species of plants and animals, and he is also a expert at identifying them.

-Attention, Attention!: Aidan is a very good listener and he pays attention to every detail in every environment. This skill is very important for his job as a biologist.

-Excellent Maths: Aidan’s math skills are very good, and are important for his job. He can a math problem quite easily, unless the math problem is very difficult.

Observed Weaknesses:

Outcast: Aidan is a social outcast, and is very unpopular. This was caused by the constant bullying from his peers, and his extreme shyness.

Anxious:Aidan is very shy, and won’t talk to people unless it is necessary to do so. This makes him more of an outcast, and it fuels his first weakness.

Weak: Aidan is very weak, and doesn’t know how to defend himself. Whenever someone tries to fight him, Aidan will usually run away. This made the countless amount of bullying that he had much harder to endure.

Equipment: 3 test tubes, a scalpel, a Petri dish, a beaker, a green t-shirt, jeans, some slip-on shoes, and a bag to store everything.

Other: Aidan is vegan, and is a activist for the environment. He also donates to charities that help the environment. His favorite food is Shredded Brussels Sprouts Salad.

sunny st. martin

pickin' up things we shouldn't read

born in a large extended family in new orleans, sunny has always had a knack for sniffing out other people's business so when her elementary school teacher asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up, she said she wanted to know everything. that put her on the fast track to investigative journalism when she reached college.

she joined the college newspaper but eventually left out of boredom. this led to her own self published newpaper/gossip-rag which gained notoriety quickly. it was eventually shut down and sunny given a slap on the wrist but shortly after graduating, she was recruited by a large newspaper company.

now, fresh out of college, sunny is stuck in the opinion column and desperate for a big lead to finally push her into the journalism spotlight.
