About 5'6"

History: Silas was born in a small village in the Northern country of Illia. Illia is a nation of steppes, plains, and hills with a climate ranging from mild to cold depending on season, though rarely becoming frigid except in its northernmost areas. Illia does not have an overarching, nationwide government; instead, its people are known either to live tribal, nomadic lifestyles or to live in many separate, tiny villages, all of which govern themselves. Though they all share general common ground in cultural and religious practices, there is a great deal of variation in specific details and rules depending on which village or tribe you're dealing with. Illia is known across the continent for its livestock, farming, and especially its horses, which are considered the best bred in the world.

Silas was a small child for his age, especially among a people known for being large and stocky. Despite this, he was as adventurous and daring as any boy could be. His father wanted to him to live a quiet life in the village tending the farm as he had, but Silas dreamed of joining a tribe, traveling the plains on horseback, doing heroic deeds, and making a name for himself that would be passed down for generations after his death. He knew early on that a quiet village life devoid of excitement was not the one for him.

At the age of 12, his natural gift for magic manifested. Magic is a talent that can come in many forms, but some of the most powerful mages develop the gift naturally at an early age, rare though this phenomenon may be. Silas seemed to have a particular affinity for lightning magic, able to shoot bolts of varying intensity from his hands. As he learned the limits of his new abilities and expanded them, so too grew his ambitious dreams: he did not simply wish to travel Illia on horseback as part of a tribe anymore. Now, he wanted the chance to travel across the entire continent and become a legend the likes of which the world would never forget.

So it was that Silas left his village at the age of 16 against the wishes of his parents and the village elders, who wished to keep Illia isolated from the world and its conflicts, as it had been in the past. He traveled south to the Kingdom of Kendlan chasing dreams of battle, glory, wealth, and honor. Kendlan was the largest kingdom on the continent, its army the strongest, and it was not, at the time, in open military conflict with his homeland. If he was going to make a name for himself in the world, Silas figured, he might as well do it there. So he applied to join the army, touting his inherent skill as a budding thunder mage. Despite Kendlan culture's widespread belief in their own superiority to other nations--especially to the "savages" of Illia--Kendlan's officers would have been insane to turn him away; natural-born magic casters were known to be one of the most powerful varieties--as well as the rarest--and Silas's talent with lightning was second to none. He was accepted immediately and became something of an oddity for being the only Illian regular fighting among the forces of Kendlan. He never let the prejudice and hatred his peers held for him deter him from following his passions; rather than discourage him, such treatment only pushed him to work harder to hone his abilities, move up the military ranks, and achieve the greatness to which he aspired.

Twenty six years later, Silas's childish ambitions have been tempered by the harsh realities of war. He has managed to overcome the stigma of his heritage to become a general in Kendlan's army--an incredible feat for one of foreign birth, to say the least. On the way up, he was forced to participate in nearly all of Kendlan's wars without complaint, many of them morally ambiguous at best and plainly unjust at worst. He conquered villages similar to the one in which he grew up, suppressed rebellions in distant colonies, and subjugated foreign kingdoms. He was ordered to kill civilians, burn property and farmland, or otherwise damage the livelihood of innocents, all in pursuit of Kendlan's glory and its livelihood. Over the years, the innocence and optimism with which he left Illia slowly gave way to the tragic, inexorable truths of adulthood as he gradually came to understand just what the fruition of his youthful ambitions cost. He considered leaving many times, but was afraid his magic and the army were all he had in life; he did not leave his homeland on good terms with those who raised him. If he left behind the army and his original dream of becoming a legend, he felt that not only would he have nothing left, but all the horrible things he'd done until now would have been in vain. He also feels he is more likely to effect positive change from inside the army than if he were to fight against it from the outside, however unlikely that may be in reality. So, for better or for worse, he has stayed. The bright side is that he, to some extent, has already achieved his dream of making his reputation legendary. His name is known, revered, and feared all over the continent; he is dubbed by many "The Thunderbolt," not only for his signature lightning magic, but for the efficiency of his battlefield tactics and the speed with which troops under his command typically win battles.

Personality-wise, he is a jovial, cheerful, charismatic, and ambitious person by nature, though jaded by the weight of the decisions and sacrifices he's made; he makes friends quickly and easily and he loves to laugh, though he has a somewhat dry, dark sense of humor. Despite what many may believe, he DOES, in fact, have a conscience; he tries to save as many lives as he can when carrying out his orders and regrets every life that must be lost in the process. He's haunted by some of the more heinous wars and battles in which he was forced to take part as a younger soldier. He has trouble sleeping some nights because he relives those events in his dreams and he has been plagued by vivid flashbacks more than a few times.

Main Character
Name: Ameria Tanya Cairo
Age: 150 (equivalent to 20 human years)
Gender: Female
Species: Elf
Appearance:

Ameria's long locks is always braided, differing in styles daily usually adorned by some type of hair ornament or flowers.
She stands around 5'4''.

History: Ameria is the only heir born into Oqilux royal family in the last 1000 years. Oqilux is the kingdom east of Kendlan- where the land is known for its never-ending flourish of forests. Elves, fairies, giants, and sprites live harmoniously in these lands, usually in villages and towns. The folk age and mature slower than the average humans. And in just a century, their numbers have decreased due to countless battles and wars with Kendlan, competing for the natural resources and undiscovered medical and magical wonders the forests hold. Birth of the folk here do not occur unless they are gifted and blessed by the spirits and ancestors. Unfortunately, Oqilux has lost many districts and acres of forests to it's rival kingdom, and only to see it being exploited and left barren once everything was taken away.

Ameria was loved and protected by all folk in the kingdom since her birth was announced. She was brought up with loving but stern parents, confining her to castle grounds and not allowing anyone apart the royal family, council and guards to see her. She was taught by the wisest giants, graceful fairies and powerful elves to be strong in mind and magic. Her daily schedule consisted of physical and magic training in the mornings with the elves where she developed her ice powers, then on to history, politics, and medicine (natural remedies) with the giants in the library after a meal; and lastly "princess training" as she likes to call it- dance classes, tea ceremonies, singing, flower arrangement etc in the evenings. As she grew older, praises of her beauty and magical powers spread far and wide. Having no friends her age and constantly being trained to be a princess, she found little joy and her smile and laughs would not reach her eyes like they used to.

Ameria constantly prays to the spirits and ancestors for her people, for she did not take them for granted and was not oblivious to what was happening in her kingdom. She begged her father many times to send her to form an alliance with Kendlam, for she thought she was ready to do whatever it was to save her people. The king thought otherwise, for she was far to young and still too naive. Fast forward to current times where the folk has dwindled to its last thousands and was forced to move further east for safety. The king made the hard decision to send his only heir to his enemy's land. The folk believes that she will be the saviour of Oqilux, and with her family's and kingdom's hopes on her shoulders, Ameria makes her first steps outside the castle.

Personality: Ameria chooses to believe in the good nature of people, no matter what species and their past. She is a loving person and is still curious since she has not seen or experienced many things; a castle can only offer so much. Ameria treats others as equals and fairly just as she wishes to be treated by others.
